Great teacher. Kinda hard on tests, but she makes sure you know your material. Take her!
I like her lecture style because she keeps you interested in what she's teaching, but I feel like her tests do not reflect her lectures. There is too much information on the tests that was never heard or even on the study guide.
Good, stong teacher. Loves what she does and it shows. Take her classes!!!
Well I thought this class was easy. A's on every test without too much outside study. Most of the class is just random stories, but I guess it keeps people interested.
Great class. She really knows the information. You have to study but it is very possible to make an A. I highly recommend her. She is an awesome teacher.
Excellent teacher. HILARIOUS! You'll have so much fun in her class you'll wish she could teach every subject!
If you are a women and pro-choice she will GIVE you an A. However, if you are male and anything the best you will do is a B. Her teaching is slanted toward the left and she preaches more than she teaches! DO NOT TAKE HER GUYS!
I thought she was a great teacher and kept you interested in the subject by acting out the story line. Go to class and listen and you will do good. I took it as a summer class and loved it.
Great teacher!
She is a remarkable prof. Loves politics. Great personality. Semi-hard test, you must read the book and study your notes. You can't get away with the BS because she knows what she taught you. If you want to learn take her. You'll like this class.
Great teacher and makes you want to be in class. Loves debate in the classroom and will challenge the student. Not an easy A but it is easy to make an A if you put forth a little effort and come to class!
GREAT TEACHER - knows the material, delivers it superbly, and is a helpful mentor!
She's great. Very funny, very smart, knows her stuff. I'm a guy, and I made a C, but that is because I never studied. She might be biased, but she's WAAAAY better than Lanier could ever hope to be.
Excellent. Funny. Holds the attention of the class. Tests are hard. Must show up for class, take notes and study from book. Will learn something even if you didn't want to.

She doesn't take attendance but it's best to be there. I made a C in the class- skipped a lot, and wasn't too interested in the book part. I loved the class though. Her final is easy but her tests are difficult. If you attend class, and show her that you care she is a great teacher. I enjoyed the class more than any of my others and I hate Pols.
Don't take it from anyone else. She rocks. No attendance, but if you come to class she tells you everything you need for the tests. I never cracked the book open, missed class way too much, and still made an A because I got the notes from another student. She gives extra credit sometimes. She explains everything well and makes it interesting. A+
oh, my god! I love her. I think if all the teachers at lamar taught like her everyone would have much better grades.
very fun lectures she keeps you interested . i wish all my professor taught like she did. she made pols interesting and fun for the first time in my life

THIS CLASS WAS ESPECIALLY HARD FOR ME, BUT I WAS/AM NOT INTERESTED IN THE GOVERNMENT AT ALL. TURN YOUR CELL PHONES OFF OR SHE WILL ANSWER AND MAKE YOU LOOK LIKE AN A**. SHE'S VERY ENERGETIC AND FUNNY, BUT THERE'S NO POINT IN LEARNING ABOUT SOMETHING THAT'S CORRUPT AND RUN BY MORONS.
She is one of the best teachers I have ever had. She is so awesome. You get alot about life and political science
Her tests are very hard and are all about LAW issues, and not about politics at all. She has a great dislike for economics and she puts very few questions about politics and economy. If you make a low grade on the first exam drop the class cuz that will kill your final grade. She should teach some upper level law courses but not intro to POLS.
Listening to Dr. Davis lecture is like watching stand up comedy.... she makes political science seem like entertainment. I have never seen a college class where they don't take attendance due to lack of need... everyone attends because her class is fun and you learn!
great teacher, very funny, make the class interesting-----her tests are very difficicult--- you gotta study---(i barely passed). (For the guys) ---- she is very hot.........(lol).
Well i didnt do good in her class.. maybe because i didnt have the book or something. Her test are completely different from the notes and you definitly have to read the book if you dont take good notes. if you end up taking the final then you may want to catch up on every thing you talked in class
good teacher she kept me interested but her test are hard as hell.
THE WORST. If you have a 4.0 you won't after her class. She will be your first B. The material isn't difficult. Her tests are worded in a very vague, misleading way. She's determined you not get an A. Very biased, preachy, and bitter.
I LOVE THIS WOMAN. her stories are so interesting and she is hilariouse. TESTS ARE SOO HARD THOUGH. yeah. alot of her test questions do not come from notes which are hard to take anyway cuz she talks to fast. but she is really funny!
She is more concerned about what you think of her than what you actually learn in the class, and very subjective with your final grade. Expect to here "stare decisis" or "precident" allot, i counted four times in twenty seconds once. She also drags here personal issues to class and wastes time talking about her obsession with John Marshall.
She is very talkative but funny. The tests are worded very differently from the lecture and sometimes it is hard to take notes because she talks so fast. If you want to ask questions about what she is talking about then do it immediately after you realize you dont get it because she doesnt go back over it the next day.
Great teacher. Really makes you want to learn. Very helpful and her test her straight from the notes.
Don't listen to anyone complain about this professor; they don't belong in a college classroom. Amazing teacher, awesome passion for what she does, wish she taught every class at Lamar, doesn't take attendance but will go anyway just to hear her teach, exams are challenging but will be okay if you read the book and take good notes
Greatest teacher ever. This is a true University Level Class. It is not for slackers. I took for different classes and made A in all the courses. I had to study however!!!!
I enjoyed this class. This was an online class that you can fit into your schedule.
this class is not for slackers, its for people who actually go to college to learn.
Great teacher. Show her you care about political science and put in the necessary work and you'll do well.
This teacher was very interesting in her lecture, however I found that she does not cover what on her tests. You MUST read & study on your own.
Dr. Davis is hands down best professor that I have had at Lamar. The class isn't too difficult. She talks about some very interesting political topics that occurred throughout American history and ties them in with supreme court rulings. Take this class if you want to retain information digested in class rather than just regurgitate it on an exam.
The tests are tough and I never could seem to understand what she wanted in the discussion boards. I did what I thought she wanted but still didn't get good grades on them. But, overall it was a very interesting class you just have to put in the work.
Funny professor, but tests are very hard. You don't necessarily have to go everyday because she gives you a review sheet, a week prior to the test. However, occasionally she'll give you answers and information for the tests that is not on the review sheet.
Tests are tough. Expect a 3 to 5 page written assignment and discussion board questions. You'll have to study on your own time with review sheet and book because in her lectures she doesn't explain the review too well.
She's awesome, attendance isn't mandatory because students want to show up to class. Her lectures are so funny. Test are very VERY hard. Show up if you want to pass. Easily, one of my favorite professors.
As a Political Science major, I had the privilege of taking several of Dr. Davis' courses. She influenced me to change my major to PoliSci. She is an incredible professor and has a passion for what she teaches. I was in her class during the events of 9-11. I will never forget it. My courses were mainly from 2001-2003. I graduated 8/03 Shawna
Dr. Davis is a good teacher who genuinely cares about her students and wants to help them succeed. Great lecturer, very good at explaining concepts. Also very understanding of students and is there when you need help. My only complaint is her FREQUENT cussing; it's unnecessary in a classroom environment and is very unprofessional, in my opinion.
Hated this class took her online. complained about interacting with fellow students. IT'S ONLINE! how? the discussion annoying. test - basically teach yourself. reading 3-4 chapters if 50 pgs each for every test. avoid.
She a pretty awesome professor I have taken. Her lecture is amazing. Her exam come straight from the lecture and some from the quizzes. Overall her class is easy to pass if you come to class and listen to her lecture.
Dr. Davis is no-nonsense. She expects you to try and be ready for class, but she obviously cares about everyone and that is why she gives tough love. She is respectful of everyone and curses a lot, which is fun since she's just a sassy southern girl. I can't wait to take more of her classes if I can.
I took this course for May Mini and ended with a B. I learned a lot in this class. I HIGHLY recommend doing the "optional" quizzes. Some of the questions can be on the test!! Listen to her lectures. I can not stress this enough. I did not read, just looked through at the main points. Look over the review! Answers may come from that also. Good luck
I took this class for summer 1 and it was very time consuming. However, if you do study you will do fine.
I had her for an online graduate course. She's an excellent teacher with a fantastic personality but you better be ready to WORK for your grade. Lots of reading, I mean LOTS, with two major papers and three major exams plus discussion questions. She's an extremely tough grader and the papers and the tests are HARD.
Dr. Davis makes POLS2302 bearable so if you have to take this class, take her on campus. I suggest reading the textbook because some stuff on the review sheet she hasn't gone over is on the test . If you take good notes and read the assigned reading the test is really just a process of elimination.
Took her for a May Mini session. Lots of reading and 4 exams (2 of them proctored), in a 15 day span of time and a essay. Tough grader on essays she said mine had poor grammar and I had multiple people read over it. Barely passed the class just glad to be done with it! (BTW I am normally make high B or A's in all my classes)
The best professor out there.
Best PoliSci prof in the department. Makes the lecture funny and straightforward. You gotta do the readings for the exams, but they're not bad and she makes the books free/cheap. The term paper is easy, but take it seriously- she grades it tough (not harsh, just tough). Even if you don't like political science (like me) you'll enjoy this course.
Took POLS2302 online course. Not a lot of interaction from professor; an occasional announcment and reminder of deadlines. 4 Exams (2 proctored and 2 on your own) and 1 paper. Overall, wasn't great and wasn't bad. She does have a lot of reading and videos of lecturers to watch. Must complete the work to pass the exams.
What a nightmare. Im a reader. I have a read every chapter Ive been assigned and followed the study guide. The tests have about 15-20 questions from the study guide out of 50. The class is test heavy. Youre given 4 exams, all proctored, and an essay with high standards. No daily grades and no curves. Find another teacher for online.
Just read every chapter the test is over and memorize it, only then will you pass the tests.
Don't take her online. Take in class, otherwise you miss out. She's an amazing person to know with amazing connections. She also requires that you meet with her at least 3 times in the semester, which is rough but oh well. Gives great feedback. But fr go to class and take good notes.
So many people rate professors poorly because they did not feel like doing the work. Took this class over the summer, and she gave us 4 tests and 1 essay. For a 6 week course I would say that is a very light load and super manageable. She gave a suggested time-line, but made all tests due on the same day at the end. She is clear on what she wants!
Has no business teaching. Obviously not there to teach only there to collect a pay check.
Would not recommend this professor. Had one research paper and the topic I chose did not align with her own personal political views and it showed. If she doesnt agree with you, its obvious in convo and in your grade reflection
The entire class is 4 tests and 1 paper due near the end of term. Not terribly accommodating to students needs. Barely present online. Reading quizzes that don't count towards your grade are barely relevant to the exams. Did absolutely nothing to make the course engaging, just opened it up.
She uses class time to just talk about herself and her lectures online are 5ish minutes long. You have to read the book and do the reading quizzes or you will fail the tests. If you dont enter the competitions she wants you to enter, she will turn on you. She refuses to help students who dont do what she wants.
EXTREMELY tough grader. Very passive aggressive in emails. If its not exactly how she wants you get an automatic zero. Gave me so much unnecessary anxiety. Unless you have the TIME and DISCIPLINE, please do not take this class. I regret taking this professor. Please learn from me and pick a different professor who actually WANTS you to succeed.
I originally took POLS 2302 w/ Tahaney & didnt teach. Dr. Davis explains things so well & in-depth. lectures are super interesting. shes even removed exam questions that she didnt cover. you WILL have to put in work, but shes with you every step of the way. so kind. youll like POLS after her class!! (from a former POLS hater & business major)
Doesnt give you PowerPoint slides to look at or notes like every teacher on campus does. Definitely would help if that was provided. Expects you to read 2 books.
There are only 5 grades: 4 exams and 1 essay. The essay is the easiest part of this class. Even after watching the lectures on blackboard, the tests still weren't the questions you would expect.
I took this in a winter mini. As stated before graded on 4 (50 question proctored) exams and 1 essay. Take the 10 question quizzes but it's ONLY to benefit you she WILL NOT include them into your grade. There are NO curves on anything. If you have trouble with memory then don't take this class online. If you have a great memory take it.
Do not take this class with this instructor...if that's wat you want to call her. She has no online presence and is a harsh grader. 4 exams and 1 paper no filler assignments. If you don't completely drop everything else and study for those ridiculous exams that don't cover half of what is on the review...you will probably fail.
i took this class online & honestly, it wasn't bad. there are no extra credit or homework assignments. just 4 exams and 1 written assignment. although this was a self-paced class, it can be tempting to put studying off. here are my tips: 1) don't procrastinate. 2) quizlets will be your best friend! 3) the optional reading quizzes definitely help
Read the textbook and you will be fine. Only grades were four tests and a written assignment. Dr. Davis is really good at answering emails fast and instructions are clear in syllabus.
Please avoid this Professor at all cost. The class is designed for the student to fail. 1. Four proctored exams and one very detailed paper. 2. No grades for the thirteen quizzes. 3. Study guides don't help you. 4. The written assignment has more instruction are detailed and confusing. 5. Professor not available 6. Professor gives no feedback
This class is test-based. There are 4 tests, and one written assignment, with no homework. For each exam, she gives a review with important terms and reading quizzes that are very helpful. If you study the reading quizzes, court cases, and important terms, you will do fine. There is also an optional final that will replace your lowest test grade.
she need to understand that if you do not wanna teach online then dont she was very rude online and she never help ful everytime i would ask a question she never would help me then she tell me look at her book nun of the stuff be on the test that she would give us this only class took over at lamar if u can avoid her at all cost she
This professor will say in the beginning of the year attendance is not mandatory and brush it off, but proceeds to purposefully make the course difficult if you don't. So do NOT believe her when she says that GO TO HER CLASS.
Not a bad teacher but this class was so boring. Online class, read the textbook simulator. If you struggle with sitting down to do that, I would take this class in person. I know I wish I would've. Her lectures got a lot better near the end of the semester. The paper grading criteria was really unclear.
So much reading and nothing else. Grade is just 4 exams and a written paper. Proctored exams, reading the text book. Written assignment is crazy strict, syllabus is like 52 pages long and that just tells you what you need to know. She even says before you ask a question read the syllabus and it should answer your question (well I'd hope so)
Proctored Tests and completely self-paced, so very easy to get behind.
The only pro about this class is that it's self-paced. All material is posted and can be worked ahead. Class is only made up of 4 PROCTORED exams and a written assignment. Study guides and quizzes are offered for additional help. Lectures are not long at all, like max 15min. Written assignment has very strict guidelines. POLS department needs help.
Hated this online class it was to hard, tough grader the tests is worth 80% of your grade and the exam 20% literally only graded on those assignments and nothing else with all that work you do it should have counted for. Something just run for the hills don't take them just run!!! I am not going to take them again!!!
Don't take their online class I found out my grade and I will just say they just used the exam grades and the essay and not the other test we took it is just dumb 10/10 will never take again absolutely NEVER AGAIN!
Don't take
If you don't read the syllabus you will be doomed only grades the exams (80% of your grade) which are honorlocked and the essay (20% of your grade) which is so dumb the other test should have counted for something 10/10 absolutely hate
She don't respond, and based you only off four graded exams. No retake no proper study guide. Just a bunch of terms and cases to research on.
This professor is not attentive to her students/ does not care. She allows her TA to berate those asking for help, has strict rules that make the class impossible, offers no help at all. The class is self led and you are expected to memorize a whole text book with no guidance. Do not show her any form of vulnerability, she will use it against you.
For a class that covers such an interesting part of political science, this professor drains any fun out of the content. She repeatedly will add questions not about the content itself but about how she describes the content in her lectures and her textbook that she wrote. She has an assistant grade everything and all her tests are proctored.
I greatly value my time in Dr. Davis' course. She cares for her students and really wants them to be successful. Be sure to meet with her 1 on 1 if the opportunity arises because she WILL help you and give you tools for success in her course. Don't be too prideful to pass up on her opportunities to review your work before turning in either. DO IT!
