I'm sure she knows what she is doing.. but she just cannot teach. Gets confused very easily, then loses track. Forgets a lot of things, very disorganized and confusing. DONT TAKE HER!
Negative: She gets confused a lot while she is teaching which at the end confuses you. Postives: Her tests are hard, but she is really easy on the grading...she is also helpful.
Do not take this teacher! She is quite possibly the worst teacher i have ever had. She asks questions while looking at the board and doesnt turn around. She screws up practically every problem she writes on the board. Lectures = Waste of your time.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. worst teacher ever.
she doesnt explain anything and doesnt make it very clear. we spend half of the class correcting her. she makes the tests confusing and your only grades are the quizzes and tests. i think id be better off back in high school.
She is a very nice and helpful teacher. Everyone messes up especially if you're teaching for the first or second time. As long as you pay attention and do the problems at the end of each chapter you can't and won't fail. Mission impossible. I would recommend everyone to take her. I got An A+++
DONT TAKE HER CLASS!!! She not only screws up numerous times while explaing things on the board in class, but she cant teach either! she messes on test grades and answer keys. I choose to ignore a few points on test but If you want to pass, you got to know how to do the problems the right wrong way.
Disorganized. Sometimes its funny 2 watch her teach. However, she's very leniant. If u have a problem, she is willin 2 help. 4 the most part, since she has a habit of makin mistakes,u can learn from them, but you need patience and be able 2 read over your notes & the book. Simply think positive.
Nice teacher but DO NOT TAKE HER! You will do fine in her class but when you take the departmental final exam you will be so lost becuase she does not prepare you at all and you will fail.
READ THE BOOK because you wont be able to learn from this teacher. She likes to mumble to herself as she writes scribbles on the board that NO ONE can understand. She's laid back though which is the only plus.
she absolutely sucks. she should not have a job teaching, and she is a mess. very unorganized and maybe even a little off in the head. she talks to herself and always seems out of it.
She freakin talks to the board. Turn around and look at your class! She knows what she is talking about but she shouldn't teach and she can't. She sucks butt! This is why I hate math teachers like her!
She has a knowledge of what she is teaching, she just can't teach it.
Ms. Grant is a nice enough teacher. You don't really have to show up to class cause she puts the notes on the internet and posts when tests are and everything. However, becareful because this class SEEMS insanely easy, but you'll be surprised the grades you get. And the only grades are from tests, she doesn't grade homework.
Attendance is not mandatory. This teacher does not know how to teach, she may know a lot of math but for some reason can't teach. She never looks at the sturents, and it is impossible to understand her hand writing.
She was alright. She did seem like it was the first time she was teaching. She worked out the problems with you.And she also gave us a chance to re-do our test once because so many of us did so poorly. She often got confused when she was teaching.About how to do the math itself. But she was helpful if you asked for help.
BAD TEACHER. dont take her if you don't have to. you might as well teach yourself math 101 b/c SHE CANT TEACH. but the good news is that attendance is OPTIONAL. if you teach yourself and come to class on test days (like i did) you'll probably pass.
WORDS OF ADVICE: dont waste your precious time and money on this professor.
She is not a very good teacher, BUT she tells you everything that will be on her tests.. So if you listen to what to study.. you will pass.. it was a pretty easy class but she is NOT a good professor. (shes not even a professor, shes a grad student)
Long-winded/not intelligent. Many of her slides give incorrect information. Don't bother coming to class except on review days. You can teach yourself the material from the book (it's easy) and then just figure out which things will be on the test. Very annoying woman to listen to, but if you're marginally good at math, take it for the easy A.
awful teacher. I'm in her class now. Makes math into a language don't ask how that is possible, but she does. Monotone and uninteresting
She absolutely does not know how to teach. I agree with comments that she knows algebra, she just doesnt teach at any level. I withdrew from her class so I wasnt wasting my time with a teacher who cant even reply to emails. She needs to grow up and take some bed side manners classes - then try again. Dont take her if you dont have to.
SSSSSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOO BOORRRRRIIIIIIIINNNNNNGGGGGGG ..i can't emphasize that enough....i took this class because i hate math and i just want to get the general education requirements credit out of the way. ALL our homework is on mathzone.com, and you learn everything off mathzone anyway. Horrible teacher
She gives lots of examples and mainly lectures to the board so sit up FRONT. it's awful hard to sit through this class but it's not hard to pass just study and do your homework. if she ever miss-grades your paper DOUBLE CHECK to make sure she put the grade right in the grade book...gotta babysit this one. However she will give you help if you need
teaching stlye did not work for me
I took this class because I am not good in math. She went over the material very throughoughly. If you attend class EVERY class you should not have a problem passing her exams. If you are good you could probably skip. It speeds up right around the mortgage lesson. She frequently talks to the board but answers and problems that stumped you.
She's a great treacher. She'll do anything to help you understand the material. I recommend her.I never did my homework and that brought my grade down; she still let me turn it in even though it was months ove due (I turned it on Nov and it was due in Sept). She tries to help the student
A very good teacher. She will do her best to give you the best grade! Was helpful and detailed.
Teaches to the board and not to the class, almost as if she is lecturing herself or trying to figure out how to teach. Rude when answering questions (even when the student asks politely). Monotone, dull, makes tons of mistakes, disorganized, takes a week to 2 weeks to receive grades back. Does not provide an environment conducive to learning. sucks
she writes tiny, and only from the middle of the board to the bottom. she stands in front of what she writes and talks to the board. she doesn't explain clearly and can not answer questions in a helpful way. she often makes mistakes when teaching, and i think sometimes she confuses people more than she helps. at least she was fairly nice...
She has a hard time explaining to the class and somtimes you will go in to the class knowing how to do the math and leave really confused. If you are really strong at math then you could do well. but i have always been a B student in math and i was getting D's.
Two words to describe her teaching style. Over complication!!
she never knows what she is talking about !
Horrible teacher! very confusing and BORING!!! mono toned and does nothing but talks to the bored. Her test are extremely hard and she does a very poor job going over the information. She makes constant mistakes that confuse the class even more. Do you self a favor and avoid this teacher. The class majority failed this class.
Verry poor teaching strategies. Examples she gave in class were very simple and the tests had very hard advanced problems. Would not take this class over with her even if I had to
Whatever you do, DONT TAKE HER. You walk in knowing math, and leave confused and really pissed off at her. She makes ridiculous mistakes (2 is a odd number; 30 times 2 is 90; etc) She teaches easy stuff but the test are so hard becuz she doesnt challenge anyone. Kids average on test was 4!!! out of 100!I wish i could say more- but im mad now pissed
Awful teacher. I did fine in the class but that's because I understand math easily. DO NOT TAKE HER if you have a hard time with math. I found multiple mistakes with the final exam study guide she gave us. You would think she would make sure her answers are right BEFORE giving us the problems to do...Just an awful teacher all around.
She can be a pretty dull speaker. If you do well with independent learning then take her. You may have to teach some things to yourself for better understanding. Asking questions could get you more confused. Just attend class, do homework, study with other things besides the book, and get help and you will be fine. Good Luck
Shes terrible. Don't even think about joining her class. For her exams she only uses fractions and decimals... She makes mistakes ALL the time. The students corrected her more times than she corrected the students. I dropped the class within the first couple weeks.
she explains EVERYTHING which isn't bad but she does not help you out much with preparing for upcoming test or quizzes
Terri Grant is a HORRIBLE teacher. she can not teach. if you are good at learning a subject such as math independently then you wouldn't have a problem but i do NOT RECOMMEND her at all. everyone i know either withdrew or failed her class. she always makes mistakes and gets everyone lost.
DO NOT take this teacher! I had A's in math all through high school but then I take her class and fail. She talks to the board and does not help students. She assumes you already know all the material and if u don't, she gets snappy. I and other students had to correct her math multiple times bc she does Not even know the subject herself.
WARNING! : DO NOT JOIN THIS CLASS! I made A's in math aLL throughout high school and the first day i stepped in her class I reconsidered my Accounting major! I got a D in her class, next semester with a diff. teacher I passed with a B. That says something about her. You will correct her more than she is able to correct you! I love math but she made
HORRIBLE TEACHER! She messes up on her work ALL the time. She is hard to understand. AVOID!!! Hard to pass.
She knows what she's teaching, but she isn't a good teacher. Like others have said, the students correct her a lot. Every class she makes mistakes. The work is simple, it's more of a review to me, but she makes it seem difficult and I feel bad for the people who haven't seen some of the material before so they're sooo confused when she tries to explain it. I wouldn't recommend her. She takes forever to grade tests and never has any grades on BB.
I absolutely hate math but this class wasnt too bad...she always lets you know her office hours in case you need extra help...if you stop her in class, she will explain...her Powerpoints are straightforward but there are ALWAYS mistakes that students point out to her...I suprisingly didnt find her that difficult and I am seriously "math stupid"
She was a terrible teacher. She writes too fast and doesn't take time to explain how to do the work. She often gets mad when students ask her to explain how to do work.
Ms. Grant's style is boring. She posts the notes to blackboard, then rewrites them on the board in class-- and that's your lecture. No quizzes were given until we asked her for extra credit because a majority of the class was failing. Never took attendance--pointless to attend. I don't recommend her!!! Save yourself from frustration and failing!
She is pretty straight forward about her expectations. I honestly learned more from the book and doing the seemingly optional homework. She obviously knows math, but I think it's hard for her to come down to such a low level. There are many mistakes throughout her material. The book honestly taught me more than she did, but she is very nice!
she is a horrible teacher. students always are correcting her work, and she talks very monotone. she gives you tests with material opposite of the way her reviews are. she simply reads off her notes and doesnt bother getting students engaged in her lesson DO NOT TAKE HER i had her last semester and i am retaking the course with the rest of the clas
She may have messed up on a problem every now and again, but that was only because my class was at the end of her day after she had had 4 other classes before mine. I learned well from her teaching and she was always very helpful and open to helping me when I needed help with problems.
Horrible at explaining, makes way too many mistakes in class and gives study guides for the test that are irrelevant towards the test questions
There are many bad reviews about her but she's a good teacher. She breaks down the material and her notes are clear. She is open to helping you if you ask. Her voice can be dull but it's not that bad. She makes mistakes but nobody's perfect!
she is the worst teacher ever, i am taking for the second time. you never know what to expect and her grading is all over the place. do not take her. she sucks
If you are not very good at math, do not take her, she goes over a lot of stuff very quickly. It is easy to get confused, and although she is very helpful and easy to talk to her class is hard. The homework is a lot of work and it barely counts toward your grade. Extra credit is very helpful.
Im in her class right not and i regret it! She goes waaaay to fast and if you don't know the material you're out of luck! Her voice is very dull and annoying and she makes a lot of mistakes -_- AVOID HER CLASS!!! (i wish i knew about this website before i took her class)
i had to drop her class...she is too hard goes too fast doesnt care if you need help. You better know the material or your SOL
While her notes may be fairly clear, her teaching is not good at all! she MAKES SO MANY MISTAKES which just makes everything so hard to follow and understand! She'd right the wrong notes or examples and STUDENTS would correct her! I feel bad writing this because she is a nice lady, but DO NOT TAKE HER unless you want to teach yourself.
I am sad to say that she may have been one of the worse professors. I've always been a math wiz until I joined her class. I learn more from the peers that correct her than from her actual lessons. She makes wayy too many mistakes. I wish I would've known about this website before taking her class!
Aweful I am retaking the course again now
She is a great professor. She is willing to work with you one on one and offers tons of practice opportunites. Most of the people who complained in my class aren't meant for college yet anywase. I found the class not to be anymore challenging than a high school class. So long as you stay on your studies.
Very nice lady. HORRIBLE TEACHER. Too many mistakes. She makes math horrible. DO NOT TAKE HER
Great teacher, however her tests and quizzes are extremely strenuous and difficult. Make sure you're prepared for the tests because she combines the concepts of her teachings. If you want a challenging teacher then take her.
she has no idea what she is doing, she makes too many mistakes, she's monotone, boring, and the tests are hard!
nice person but HORRIBLE professor. I studied & came to every class. she makes so many mistakes while teaching it makes it really hard if you are trying to learn the material for the first time. Her tests are really hard and "tricky", not a good reflection of if you know the material. I have never made anything less than a B EVER and I made a "D-"
Stay away from this teacher. Whatever she teaches you in class will not reflect what will be on the tests. I do every optional homework assignment and study very hard for every test and somehow keep failing her tests along with the rest of my classmates. I never in my life recieved a grade lower than a B for math. She's the worst teacher in ODU
Terrible teacher. Ive already had Calculus in highschool and can honestly say she is the worst teacher I have ever had at ODU. Her tests are way harder than the other teachers that teach the same class, and she does not TEACH
She is very abrasive and off putting. She makes many errors on notes and claims she will email you the corrections after class but never does. She tests you on what you don't know, not what she has taught you. I don't recommend her, especially if math is not easy for you.
She is an awful teacher, you basically have to rely on what you learned in highschool. She speaks in monotone and constantly makes mistakes on her notes. She will provide good notes but when it comes to the tests, the questions are nothing like the homework or notes. I highly advise not taking her as a professor.
Unless you enjoy love math and like to sit under the sound of a monotone speaker with no enthusiasm and even less patience than I would recommend you save yourself the F and take someone else.
she is literally the worst teacher i have ever experienced in all my years of going to school. she mumbles, she is monotone, she messes up every example and doesnt teach half the material that she puts on the test. if you have a choice, never take her class.
Truly awful. She consistently made errors and never seemed to really care if we knew the information or not. I've never had a more useless teacher.
DO NOT TAKE. barely passed. she answers questions but the things shown in class do not match tests. EXTREMELY HARD. if you are bad at math AVIOD. so easy to get lost or distracted with her teaching method. her vioce is extremely monotone.
Really boring however if you participate and ask questions she'll clear things up for you.
Horrible teacher, speaks to herself during class makes many mistakes and is not helpful. DO NOT TAKE HER. Out of whole class only about 5 people would pass her test.
She is nice but tests are far from what she teaches. she doesn't do problems on board. she just goes over a powerpoint and hopes you will get it.i studies literally 12 hours for final and got a b
Her test did not reflect the work she taught in class.
She is NOT a good teacher. She is too smart to be a teacher so she cant dumb it down for students to learn while taking notes. Her test reviews dont prepare you for tests. only thing i can say is do the book( used on hmwk quizzes) and online homework for easy points
I thought it was an easy class, and I had not taken a math class in over 5 years. I understand the complaints about not writing out problems and using powerpoints instead, but if you study and take notes, I don't see how you can fail. You really do have to understand this material to move on to calculus.
Literally, I have been in her class two days and clearly she has no business teaching. There is no style. It's complete chaos and I'm great at math. DO NOT REGISTER WITH HER! This is your money. Holy. Why didn't I register with Mrs. Blum?
This class is so easy. How can you fail this class ? seriously Theres only 3 tests and 2 of them are really easy stuff that you should of learned in middle school... She gives you a free 25 points just by doing the math labs and the 4 home work quizzes. The only somewhat hard test was the last one but its really not that bad
Very passionate about teaching. Always looking for ways to improve her methods. No busy work assignments, just a few tests that aren't very hard, just do the study guides, take notes, and pay good attention at lecture. She is more than willing to give individual help which is FANTASTIC. I'm not a math guy at all and i got an A.
Mrs. Grant is great. She knows the math. And passsionate about math. She teaches well and is always looking for easier methods to make you understand. Off course, you have to do the homework and studying. She will not just give you the grade. She will work with you if you are weak with it. If you do the work, you'll have nothing to worry about.
She is terrible, she can't explain anything well and it blows my mind that she has kept her job as a teacher. Everyone in my class that i knew dropped or had a bad grade
She makes a lot of mistakes when explaining the notes, does not update blackboard, and her voice is mono-toned.
RUN. She genuinely cares, but is unable to grade in a timely manner. She assumes you remember everything from calc, so she will expect you to perform on her test without going over certain topics from calc. ( I took calc 4 years ago). Alot of Homework, which can save your grade. She always messes up example problems in class answer keys.
She doesn't actually teach all she does is examples. Constant mistakes on the board. Hw is tedious and not helpful
She's a very nice lady and tries to keep up with grading. She makes constant mistakes on the board and to the study guides she provides. I had a great time studying for the final figuring out if I made the mistake or she did. If you do all the assignments and you should be fine, because there are a lot
Horrible teacher. Messes up examples, confuses herself, and puts questions on tests that she doesn't teach. Test material doesn't match homework and notes at all. Worst teacher I've ever had.
Best math teacher at odu
Grant is great teacher! She's extremely helpful. If you have any questions she is definitely willing try and help you understand the material. The class itself, isnt super hard if you know precalculus, but make sure you stay on top of things because its kind of easy to fall behind.
This is not an easy class, so you might as well expect to work extra hard. She assigns homework from the book every day. The homework can be EXTREMELY confusing, but if you make time to utilize the tutoring in Perry Library and her office hours then you MAY pass. I spend most of my study hours on this class. NOT EASY.
Prof Grant knows her stuff and is pretty good at passing it on. In a 50 minute class she tended to rush through things. Lectures get very boring. Assigns a lot of hw and quiz almost every class. If you do the work and set time aside for this cousrse you'll be fine
Handwriting is tiny and she always stands in the way of the board so you can't follow along. Try to sit as close to the middle of the board as you can. She is helpful when you ask. But she's unorganzied and all over the place. Better when one-on-one. Gives a little extra credit. Make are you don't miss anything.
This class is just a hard class in general, but she does expect you to remember precalculus material. I hadn't taken it in 2 years so it a little difficult. She tries to be organized, but can't seem to get there. Very nice lady. Lots of homework but much needed to understand this course. Overall, not too bad.
I took calculus in high school so this class came very easy to me. She goes through every step of the problem so that everyone understands the steps. Shes a decent teacher
Do all the homework, show up to class, and look over the lectures online and you should be fine. Professor Grant is fair and willing to work with her students to succeed.
Professor Grant really cares about her students and is very nice. For the first time ever I have a chance to get an A in a math course (I have NEVER been good with math). She has great notes, but you have to go to class to get them. Quizzes are online with multiple attempts. She goes fast but just take notes and review after class. LOVED HER
Prof. Grant was an amazing teacher. She gives extra credit but there is a lot of homework and quizzes. The hw is all due on one day& quizzes are online with many attempts. Tests are a little difficult so you have to know the info but she grades by partial credit so you still end up doing well even if you don't get the answer right
Prof. Terri Grant is an extremely nice woman but a horrible teacher. She over complicates even the simplest problems and not only confuses her self but her students as well. The homework and quizzes are easy but the tests are extremely difficult and the problems on the are nothing like what she teaches or assigns for homework.
Mrs. Grant is nice but she makes SO MANY mistakes on each example that its rediculous. The notes and examples seem easy, but don't be fooled, the easy stuff you learned and thought had mastered will never be on the test. The test sometimes seemingly has nothing to do with what was worked out in class and is 100x harder.
Prof Grant is just not the best teacher at all. She does alot for the simplest problem and confuses herself. She often makes mistakes on the board alot then has to redo it. You get alot of homework and she only grades 5 out of like 50 long problems but you never know which ones she will grade. Just take another professor.
GRANTISBOMB
Very nice lady. Encourages questions throughout lecture, no question is a dumb question. Truly wants you to get grade you deserve as long as you work for it. HW is lightly graded but is essential for practice. Gives test study guides. Math has always been my worst subject & I tried hard for my C. Second time taking this class DONT TAKE BROWN
This is my first 100% online math class, and I was a little intimidated by that, but there was so much to work on, I feel as though I understand the topics due to all the practice. This was a 12 week course and each week has six assignments, with everything is due on Sundays, but I am managing to get everything done by Thursdays most weeks.
Dr. Grant is a fantastic professor! Calculus online was a scary thought, especially in a 12 week summer session, but she had such a good online lecture. She responds so fast by email. Tests were hard (hello.. it's calculus) but she gives so much partial credit I ended up with good grades each time. Would easily choose her again for any math course!
She's a sweet person, but I took her for the first time for calculus 2. I love math, I'm double majoring in it, but she's SO MONOTONE. She makes me hate math and it's been my favorite thing for years, and I don't want to get discouraged from it. Also, from her test guides? Expect 100x worse, she doesn't go off of them for the tests.
I don't have much to say about Mrs. Grant other than that she was a pretty average math professor. She's a nice lady and gets the job done. She was always pretty excited to teach during her lectures. Class was not overly difficult and not so easy that I didn't learn anything.
She honestly made math more fun than other professors here at ODU. There are a lot of people saying that she makes a lot of mistakes and this and that, but she is human. Also, if the class corrects her on the mistakes, she will award a point for the test. These are college level courses, you have to study and do homework if you know you're failing.
Great teacher gives you lots of lots of chances too improve if you did poorly on a test. Teaches material in a way that is easy to understand, overall great teacher.
Good math teacher. She lets a class correct errors in examples on the board( if there are any) without biting their heads off.
Professor Grant is nice, but she isnt a great teacher. She makes A LOT of mistakes. Sometimes she doesnt even understand or remember what she is lecturing about. Her powerpoints are very detailed but she flys through them. She also is very fast paced whether the students understand the material or not. I think everyone in my class is struggling.
She just post powerpoints instead of going through the work with you. Even though she teaches through PowerPoint more than 75% of her slides have at least one mistake on it. So youre basically learning how to do the wrong thing
Tests are not based on study guides at all. You study the study guides and when you go take the test its a whole different thing. I also feel like she does not know what she is doing at times because everything she is doing is off a paper and just copying, pasting and talking through. Do not expect curves that much!
Lots of use of My Math Lab. Very organized. SPEEDS through lectures. Only does examples, does not explain concepts. Works out 3 examples before class and flashes them on the smart board and expects you to write it down in 30 seconds or less-- if youre not able to do that then good luck.
She is a very nice lady and can be helpful if you go to her during office hours. However, she is very disorganized and flies through powerpoints. She is constantly making mistakes in class. Be prepared to use MyMathLab a lot. Don't expect her notes and powerpoints to stay on the board for long.
Took Math200 over the 12 week summer session. Do the non-credit homework problems in addition to all the rest of your assignments and you will be fine. Math is about reps and understanding the process. Dr. Grant was very responsive to email questions and gave extra credit on exams for submitting the practice exam solutions.
Very nice lady. I struggled with learning the concepts as there were no zoom calls. Video lectures aren't the best. If you are good at math/have a good work ethic you will be fine.
She is a very good teacher! she gives lots of extra credit. It is easy to get an A if you watch her videos and do practice problems.
She tends to over complicate easy concepts by confusing herself. When she goes over easy problems its fine but on the harder ones she makes a lot of mistakes. She is also very unorganized and needs to be constantly reminded to upload to BB and the MyMathLab assignments. Her tests are much harder than what she goes over in class. Avoid her class
Professor Grant is a very kind person as long as you e-mail to let her know about whatever's going on. There were 3 tests and a final, 12 quizzes (lowest two are dropped), 12 labs (lowest 2 are dropped), and 12 homework assignments (lowest two are dropped). There is a long review that you could do beforehand to get +5 on the tests, not the final.
Her lecture was good in its content coverage, but she was sometimes a little rushed and made mistakes which was confusing sometimes. However, she gave extra credit if the class found errors in the board problems, so we would have healthy EC on every exam. Super nice. Major grades were the pearson hw, 4 exams and a final; no frequent quizzes.
DON'T TAKE HER! Her online course is SO disorganized and you will never be able to find anything. Finding the assignments is harder than the assignments themselves. SHE DOESN'T RESPOND TO EMAILS. You will have no help and are left to the disorganized instructions scattered throughout Blackboard. For your own sake, take public speaking in person.
sucks
Very unorganized
TG is very nice but unorganized. She rushes through problems and constantly makes mistakes, confusing herself and her students. The content gone over in class is nothing compared to her tests. The tests are extremely difficult and she grades harshly. Would never take her again.
Professor Grant is a good teacher. She does make some mistakes during class but makes up for it by giving extra credit on tests. She got a lot of blame from the students who didn't pass, due to mistakes in class and hard tests, but if you study, pay attention and show up to office hours if you have any questions, there is no reason for you to fail.
I genuinely have PTSD from her class. She makes so many mistakes and probably cant even pass her own tests.
To break down this course, hw is fairly simple, labs are a bit more demanding but are structured almost exactly like the quizzes (write down your labs). And tests are brutal but the partial credit she gives can save you big time. This is a tough course, several of my classmates dropped. If you review the textbook problems it helps, best of luck!
she's just overall terrible but at least she responds to students in a timely manner
Even if you utilize all the resources provided by the professor, PLE, book, other materials, you will still struggle in this class because a lot of topics are not clearly laid out. Specific problems require specific solutions, and you won't be able to find the information you need either. I do not recommend this professor.
If I could give her a 0 I would. No one in our class passed with a good grade because she's an awful instructor. She doesn't care if you pass or fail--she only cares about the money. The WORST professor I've ever had.
Dr. Grant was very willing to help students pass Calc I. We had multiple opportunities for bonus points, all optional, and she'd apply them to our upcoming tests or the final. She left plenty of time to review for the final exam, and when we didn't finish the sample in class, she posted videos going over the rest, along with pdfs of the solutions.
Worst professor ever. No sympathy.
Professor grant does not allow calculators but gives problems that can't be done without a calculator. lectures are confusing. Students are left with incomplete tests. The class average is in the 60s at best. It is an absolute tragedy that Professor Grant is still allowed to teach mathematics. Would give 0 stars if i could.
Terrible professor. Makes frequent mistakes in her lectures. The class work is easy compared to the tests. Class average on all 4 test was around 50 percent. No curve on any tests. Overall terrible avoid at all cost.
Grant was a mixed bag. A very nice person, answered emails at a decent time, but many mistakes as a calc professor and spends half the lecture on warmup questions for some reason. was the reason we were so behind compared to other classes. Gave extra credit and allowed extensions on labs if you asked
I wish there was a lower rating selection because she would definitely deserve it. If you ACTUALLY want to learn math, DON'T take this course through Terri Grant. Really horrible, I am already not a great math student, but now I loathe it. So do yourself a favor and take it through a community college if you have the chance.
Requires SmartProctor appointments for exams (2 hr roundtrip for me). Weekly HW, Quiz, and paper HW. Skips over some steps in examples and tells you pause and figure it out. Online classes were refused formula sheet for exams while in-person classes were given formulas each exam. Not worth it online. Stowe = Grant. Heads up.
Terri Grant has a sweet and caring personality, but she tends to ramble and rush notes. She tends to make many mistakes, but in return, she always gives tally points to use on the test. She rambles about things that are irrelevant and is an awkward individual at times. Nevertheless, I don't recommend taking the class if you aren't good at math.
This was an online class which might be hard for some because there's only video lectures. There are no extensions given for any homework/labs/tests. You're also required to take in-person proctored exams at approved test sites. I highly suggest you join the zoom exam prep sessions. I wish they offered a hard copy of the book vs the online book.
If you are good at math this course is for you! If not, you may struggle but she is there to help. She is a little all over the place and does not grade timely. Only take if needed.
Terri grant is a very good teacher. Though sometimes she makes mistakes and gets off topic she is really good at making sure you understand the material. I would recommend to people who aren't the greatest at math or need a refresher on certain topics
Dr. Grant is knowledgeable and cares about her students, but her class could improve. Warm-up problems often take up the time needed for new material, leading to rushed concepts. Occasional mistakes can impact our confidence. Supplementing her lessons with online resources and better time management could enhance her teaching effectiveness.
Professor Grant's class is a mixed bag - nice person but makes frequent mistakes. The coursework is easy but the tests are brutal. Definitely use Unstuck study and the textbook to stay afloat.
She is terrible at teaching and messes up every problem. The students in the class often have to correct her errors.
Nice professor; she really cares about all of us, but unfortunately, she makes a lot of mistakes in class and has pretty hard to read hand writing. Nearly half the time, she is being corrected by her students. She does hand out quite a bit of extra credit, though, which is nice. The final exam was nothing like the review she gave us, either.
Dr. Grant is very friendly, which I really respect. She has a very defined process that can help with the procedures through various math problems. Still, it can also make things complicated when trying to initially understand the concepts for various problems. She gives extra credit which is a heavy lifeline since the math tests are difficult.
She gets a bad rep, but she is a good professor. Yes, she is fast paced so might not be for everyone and sometimes she gets things wrong. While it can be confusing, it helped me realize I actually knew the material.
A lot of work but everything is clear, if you do the homework and watch or participate in the exam reviews, the tests and exams are fine. The class was shared with Randall Stowe. If you're not local you'll need a separate dedicated webcam for the tests. 10/10 would definitely take again if I had another math class.
I would rather just teach myself using the textbook.
Dr. Grant was good for the most part. She made a lot of mistakes in her every day lectures which led to me teaching myself some things. She really does care about your grade though. There is a good bit of homework due every week as well with around 10-20 questions each.
she goes over every step to each problem no matter how mundane each step may be. she gives like 20 extra points on each exam for doing 1 or 2 quizzes. she answers every question you ask in lecture. she da goat frfr.
Dr Grant knows what shes talking about! She would teach to different learning styles which takes up a lot of time plus she rambles a LOT. She IS a good teacher but she's quite disorganized which wastes time. She gets the class so behind in the beginning then rushes through the end(the hard part). Proceed with caution and prepare to teach yourself.
Prof.Grant was nice, however she made mistakes every single lecture. If it wasn't for student correcting her the problems would have stayed incorrect. She doesn't go off of a textbook and often forgets what to write in the blanks. Unless you can teach yourself on your own time, do not take. I can see why she was the only available teacher.
