you willwant to die, voice is very annoying!
Worst class ever! Take GKin instead!
These people are mean. Class is boring but not too bad. Get points for showing up.
Boring, but if you read the book you'll do fine on the tests. Get points for showing up, she doesn't care if you do other stuff as long as you aren't distracting others. She's not that bad, just boring
these people are mean, she really not that bad, boring- yes, its all lecture. tests come from your book, easy to make up points through passports and other assignments. don't really need to pay attention.
the class is extremely boring, attendence policy with NAMETAGS! but all the notes are online, tests arent to bad if you dont want to study much, easy to make up grade through other assignments.
Why do teachers try to make health so hard? Tests aren't too bad, takes attendace. Prob. the best of all the health teachers
BORING class... powerpoints every day, but notes are online, dont get on her bad side
No Comments
not too hard, not too interesting, study the night before the test and you should do allright
She isnt that terrible! The class is boring but she lets ya do what ya want in there as long as ya arent bothering others. Attendance policy is a small torture cuz she puts the powerpoints online, but she knows her stuff. Plus she is kinda funny.
Some of the things she has brought up in lecture as fact I have found not to be true from other readings. Unfortunately she is one of the better health profs, but if DO NOT TAKE HER IF ITS AN 8AM!! YOU WON'T GO...I NEVER DID! And you need those points.
Best you're gonna get in a mediocre health dept. Gives bonus points for having minimal absences. Reads straight from the slides sometimes, so it can get boring. Not the greatest, but the best you're going to get for GHTH 100.
I can't speak for the rest of the health dept, but stay away from her if you can!!! Powerpoints are boring and have nothing to do with the exams. Exams are straight from the book. So if you love to read health manuals, Prodoehl is for you
boring class but sometimes funny cuz she does such stupid funny things ....... good class ....... haven't read a page from the book, to study for tests just look over notes and take practice tests ....... do all other assignments
All in all, a great professor. Tests come straight from the book, and PowerPoints are online. Study well, and you'll do well.
lectures are soo~ boring but it's aite. she's an ok teacher
class is really interesting and fun to go to...very applicable to life...she tries to make jokes but they aren't that funny...passport events are a lot of fun...she has a seating chart and takes attendence every day...lectures are fun...tests are easy
I love this professor!! She jokes during class, she teaches and tests from powerpoint! Lectures material is sometimes boring but you must remember it is GenEd.
I HATE POWERPOINT. and this is all she uses. class was dull, i relearned how to sleep sitting up. my suggestion, dont take general wellness at all, tak Gkin, its better to ride a bike or something for an hour than sit in her class
OMG.. this class SUCKS. You are treated like 1st graders with nametags. It's so pointless. She never covers all the material & then expects you to ace her tests. Worst class ever. I hate the stupid powerpoints & passports. You'll be tempted to skip a lot!
Dr.Prodoehl is ok. Yes, the class is very boring and she does take attendance in a class of 300 people, but she posts the powerpoints which is helpful. Some advice--STUDY for her tests and don't go to sleep in her class; you'll regret both!
Boring. Doesnt cover all material on her tests, which are difficult by Gen-Ed standards. Avoid if possible.
This class sucks.
She is not clear on what you should study. True, powerpoints are online, yet there are so many statistics it seems pointless. She seems impatient with the students and doesn't care much if you can't study what she teaches!
She is so weird, I think she's a sex fiend, that's all she likes to talk about. Her tests are really long and pretty hard. It's really hard to study b/c there's so much material. This class sucks though, no matter who you have.
absolutely the best in health sciences
Not too hard, just read powerpoints before test. Must come to class because of attendance, but you don't really need to pay attention. Overall an easy C+/B- and if you actually try probably a high B or A
CLASS IS SOOO BORING! She's ok. Take lots of notes but her tests are hard! Never did well, probably gonna get a C and I study for this class. Don't fall asleep coz she'll embarrass you. Gives extra points for attending class
Health isnt the most exciting class, but she is very informative and does her best to make it interesting. Overall good Professor.
Very nice. kinda vague when you ask a question. funny though, will do anything to help with lesson, including licking flavored german condoms.
health sucks. this class is pretty easy though, i fell asleep every class and did wonderful.
The sound effects in the Powerpoints might keep you awake at 8 AM, but her lectures probably won't. Her tests were very easy, even with a minimal amount of studying.
this class is just bad. the work load is insane and the class serves as more of a therapy session for prodoehl than anything else. i would avoid this class like the plague if i was you.
Most boring class ever but obsessed with sex and encourages masturbation as a way of self- exploration.

This class is as easy as getting myself off.
such boring lectures.and theres an attendance policy.but review power points online before the exams and you should do fine.one of the better prof for this class b/c there isnt any quizzes.
VERY boring lectures. Class goes on forever then again it's a boring topic. Tests aren't too bad but they're pretty tough.
this class sucks. if it wasn't for her attendance policy, i wouldn't come. she is too graphic in her slides. STD chapter is the WORST.
She is so obessed with sex. The powerpoints will put you to sleep. But overall shes a nice lady.
pay attention during lectures no matter how boring they are. go to class! (you get extra points for attendence) and STUDY!
Make sure you go to class, but there's no need to pay attention. I recommend doing the Breeze crossword during lecture. Study for tests (duh) and do the handful of easy assignments and you'll be fine.
I took 2 pages of notes all semester and got an A. Lectures are a waste. PRint out powerpoints and read the book, you'll do fine. She gives major xtra credit if you do UREC hours. my test scores were a B- and cuz I did all the UREC hours I got an A!
Just go to class, study her powerpoints and worksheets that she hands out...and it's interesting!
Pretty easy class. Don't really need to go just print powerpoints and study those for tests and guranteed A or B. No hw except assignments for extra 100 points and you can turn those in late too. Class is interesting for the most part. I suggest taking her class for gened.
its health class. not too hard if you study/go to lecture. attendance isnt mandatory, infact its worth 1 point added to your grade when she randomly takes attendance9up to 5). so study for tests and youre fine.
easy class. powerpoints on blackboard. Go to class, take some notes- you'll do fine. She goes over the slides as well as she can- the class is all pretty self-explanatory. Passports and exercise hours are easy points. Extra credit on random days for attendance- no policy. Easy gen-ed.
This is not a bad class at all! I recommend it if you need to get a GenEd outta the way! She she likes to talk about sex, but how many college students can say they aren't interested in it! Tests aren't bad and there are a lot of extra EASY assignments to do that help out your grade! take it!
Easy class, she understands people get sick and might not always be able to get to class. 90% of the work is submitted online and she posts all lecture notes and presentations online as well.
boring boring boring, but easy
no need to buy the books or go to class. study the powerpoints she posts on blackboard for the tests, and you're guaranteed an A, especially if you do all the easy, busy work assignments.
Classes are boring sometimes but it is an easy A if you study for the tests. Just go over her notes and skim the chapters and you'll get an A. Nice lady and is understanding. Gives lots of easy assignments for easy points!
Terri is great! The class is really easy and you never have to go. You can print off the powerpoints and study with them...never need the book! Her assignments are all online and so quick! This is the easiest class to BS! Really easy and she's a nice person too!
I would recommend taking this class. No attendance policy...only for extra credit. Just do what is required (passports and urec hours) and you'll be fine. Don't have to study that much for tests.
SHe's a really nice lady and cares a lot about what she's teaching. It's sad, tho, that people don't come to her class and she knows it. Hey, I was one of 'em. She's a little weird, but i think generally compassionate and understanding.
BORING, just reads off powerpoint and doesnt really explain her material. ALOT OF OUTSIDE WORK TOO.
don't even bother going to class. She reads right from her powerpoints and attendance is extra credit. She loves talking about sex and relates it to everything. She's definitely a nice lady and she'll help you out if you have a problem. Tests aren't bad, although sometimes random questions
Easy as hell. Does read off powerpoints, but if you are an audio learner, go to class. Some outside work, but easy stuff. Get it done early so it is out of the way. Nice and funny lady. STD section kind of gross.
Boring. SOO boring. I have gone to class 3 times this year and i have a B. If you want an easy class, take her. but take my advice, dont take her at 9:00 or you will NEVER go. Lets you hand in stuff late and doesnt care. No attendence policy.
this class is easy if you do the work-- i did not because i am a raging moron. make sure that you turn things in on time and dont get behind
Classes seem to drag on but have some new and interesting points (at times). Professor cares about subject and tries to draw the class into it. Get started on assignments and don't wait until the end to try and complete. One of those classes that seems boring and repetitious but can benefit you.
one of the easiest classes i have taken. I went to class maybe once a week or less and I got an A. If you turn things in on time and get your hours for UREC in and study the nite before for the tests you will be fine. Definetly recommend if you dont want to go to class
Easy class, but make sure you study the powerpoints that are online the night before or you're screwed. Lots of B.S. assignments that really boost your grade but are also a real pain to do. No attendance policy;I only went 1-2 times a week and I pulled a B-.Definately recommended for the lazy ones.
Class is easy if you just do the work. She doesn't put up with slackers so if you are the type to try to BS all your work she's gonna call you out.
Take her. Compared to other health classes this 1 is easy. I haven't opened the text book and I have an A in the class (don't buy the book, it's a waste of your money). You don't need to come to her class, but if you only miss 2 classes or less she gives you 10 extra credit pts on your final grade.
I loved this class... very clear, notes are on blackboard, attendance is extra credit. I went to class only on test days and when things were due and got an A-. easy, take her!
OK...some semesters she has an attendance policy, sometimes she doesnt--either way it is the most worthless class to attend. I never went to class and studied the notes online before each test and i was able to do fine. NOT AN EASY "A"
mmm, not an easy A, you need to study, there is a lot of busy work, but it boosts your grade, she is fair but you should study and do the work if you want a good grade, oh and P.S. they are serious about the 50 words minimum on the passports so count!
all you have to do is submit each assignment on time, go to urec, some passport events and READ THE TEXTBOOK before the test. You will certainly do fine! dont miss class more than 2 times and get 10 extra points. Best health prof to get for the gen ed!
good gened, not an easy A but a real easy B. all she does is read off slides (which printed out sometimes come out to 20 pages w/ 6 slides per page!) so class is really boring but she's really cool and funny
Awful ... she teaches this class like it's high school (kicking people out for sleeping, name tags, attendance policy, seating chart...etc) ... not the worst class ever, but DEF not the best
This class is really boring- try to get a seat in the back and bring a copy of The Breeze. She is a nice enough lady and the tests are pretty fair- all multiple choice. Try to get the class overwith your freshman year if possible- once you start taking upper level classes, it can be difficult to actually find time to do UREC hours
This class is okay for a gened, but it's extremely boring. Sometimes she'll let you sleep, but not always. The tests aren't that bad, but make sure you read the power points. You don't even need to bring anything with you to class. Just sit there, have your name tag, and she won't bother you. The class isn't bad.
Class is not very interesting if you aren't interested in gerontology. Prof. manages to keep it from getting too boring with small projects and presentations. Tests can be tricky but otherwise nothing too difficult.
Easy class, passports suck but you have to do that for any GHTH class. Tests are pretty easy if you just read over the powerpoints, she makes a boring subject pretty interesting and has a good sense of humor.
I thought this might be a fun class. She's not all that interesting in class, makes it seem like it's all common sense, and then on the tests it's all really hard and much more in depth. I wouldn't recommend taking the class unless you have to or if you really want to take it.
The class is easy!! No need to go to class (except for the attendance policy, you can miss 6 classes). All of the notes are on blackboard in powerpoints. DON'T BUY THE BOOK. I never once opened it, all of the information is in the powerpoints. Very boring...easy A or B.
Teaches like highschool and talks down to students; very rude woman. Class is boring, reads slides, have to go to class for attendence. Just sit there like the lump on the she wants you to be and you'll do okay.
health shouldnt be that hard, and there should not have been an attendence policy(only reason there is one is to force you to come b/c it sucks so much). tests are all super hard statistics and not like you would think. Definatly there are better ghealth professors out there, if you are taking her for elective, find something else.
The class wasn't that bad. Do the busywork that she assigns, use blackboard to study for the four tests and you'll easily get a B. You can miss up to 6 classes which is very convenient. I think Dr. Prodoehl has lost her patience for teaching 125 freshmen and seems rather bitter (so don't get caught talking).
As long as you do the work and pay attention in class you'll get an A. I actually liked her. She's really funny and cracks jokes all the time during lecture. The out of class assignments are incredibly easy, so do them. Compared to the other health teachers that some of my friends had, she seems the best.
Prodoehl is sooo boring and just reads the slides. She put up an attendance policy cuz no one EVER came to class! I played the SIMS all class every day!
Lectures are boring beyond belief, the only reason to go to class is the attendance policy (you are allowed to miss 6). She simply reads off slides. Tests are not too bad. The outside assignments are easy, but I question how she grades them. Dates of alot of things change rapidly, so its important to keep up with that. Pretty solid professor though
Has an attendance policy that is a pain in the butt because you really don't need to go to class. Some do-at-home busy work and four exams. Not really hard, but she's pretty boring. She'll point you out in the middle of class if you're reading The Breeze or talking to your neighbor. OK to take, but you could to better.
Wow. I thought HTH 471 was boring. This class in block was horrible. Her tests were unfair and she just generally doesn't seem to care about students or whether or not they are learning anything. Unfortunately I had no choice in taking her. Avoid if possible.
you have to take some kind of health class, so she would be the one to take. classes are boring but you can miss up to 6. bring other work during class you will get alot done. she is a fair graded and gives extra credit for things like taking notes on a movie in class. its like highschool health but with harder tests
6 free misses as far as attendance. Probably one of the better HTH profs, but by God is that class boring. Tests are strange, not as easy to study for as you'd think.
great professor- very easy going and knowledgeable, the class material is actually interesting and at the same time common sense but you learn a lot of interesting facts, tests aren't too bad as long as you study the vocab and material for them, has assigned seats and a policy of only missing 6 class periods, easy to get an A or B
Absolute worst professor I've ever had. Extremely rude, treats students like they're in middle school. Tests every other week. Some of her so-called educational clips are borderline-porn, lectures are a pathetic excuse for teaching. She skips entire chapters (i.e. abortion) just because she doesn't agree with what's in them. Stay away from her at all costs.
Horrible Horrible teacher. Gives long long tests. Class is so so so so boring. I want to kill myself when I sit in her class. Shows stupid clips of America's Funniest Home Videos before class, so dumb. Get someone else if you're in Personal Wellness.
Lectures are pretty boring, especially since you have to go to class. Tests are somewhat hard, but all the other assignments are freebies, so it shouldn't be hard to come out with an A or B, unless you really just don't study for the tests at all.
Dr. Prodoehl is a really cool person. Class is a little pointless since she just reads off the slides but you learn more than you think and the extra stuff you have to do besides tests are pretty easy, like self-evaluations and passport events. I would recommend her because she does get whats going on with kids our age, despite being in her 50s.
class is extremely painstakinly boring but what do you expect She knows what she's talking about but cannot make it interesting. Easy A or B as long as you go to class(6 absenses allowed) do the work and study a little for the tests. not too bad i guess, but just ssssssssssssssssoooooooooo boring
Easy class, can miss 6x, tests aren't hard as long as you study the slides. Some think class can be boring
I liked her. She has funny movies in the beginning of class and she holds my attention for the whole class- but I'm a Health Science major- There are a lot of assignments but they're easy- just do them. Tests are OK, but you need to study. Overall, I would take her again. I don't know why so many people didn't like her.
wastes a lot of class time by showingmovie clips and lets you out early everyday. lectures are straight from the powerpoints that she post on blackboard for every chapter so don't buy the book. test are from the powerpoints and there are a lot of assignments that really help your grade alot! take her she is really easy and her lectures are funny
Dr. Prodoehl was a very good professor. It IS health class, so some of the information can be slow at times, but I think she did a very good job of explaining the material and assignments. You could tell she was interested. Must read atleast the study outlines and go over the powerpoints because the exams can be tricky
Read the night before (you'll remember it better), and look over the lectures. Do the multiple choice quizzes that are optional, some of the questions are exactly the same on the test. I got an A in this class, and all I did was treat it like it was a college class.
This isn't a hard class and doesn't require much work at all. Most of the assignments take only minutes, and there aren't many of them. The tests aren't hard either, she posts practice quizzes on blackboard that are some of the same questions, so do them! There is an attendance policy but you're allowed to miss SIX classes without penalty!
I thought it was a good class. I learned a good amount of things during this semester. The teacher is nice and if you appreciate humor, you'll enjoy her videos in the beginning of class. The only downfall I can really think of are the UREC hours that are mandatory for a grade-if you're a busy person, make sure you have time to clock in for UREC ho
Really nice, funny lady. You can miss up to 6 classes before it starts affecting your grade. Before each test just go over each powerpoint presentation again, and then do the multiple choice, fill in the blank, and concentration games. Some of the exact questions from those games are on the test. All tests aremultiple choice and true-false
Prodoehl is good, her tests can be hard, but gives some work to bring up your grade, study the powerpoints the night before a test and you should get a B. Funny woman, shows funny videos and pictures for the first five minutes of class. Highly Recommended.
She is nice..the videos she shows before class are pretty funny...test can be hard but we've learned this stuff so much you can probably get a B even if you don't study. I recommend her!
study powerpoint presentations for test questions, a lot of little assignments, mandatory attendence (can miss up to 6 without penalty). Easy class
she is a good professor makes attendence policy simply because no one would show up for class if she didnt, she is passionate about the class and wants you to learn, can get very annoying at times with all the little things outside of class, if u can get a teacher w.o a policy go for it, but if not she is still a good professor to take
super easy class, can miss up to 6 classes before she even cares, book isnt worth buying, you NEVER use it, tests are from powerpoints she puts online and from what she says in class
Relates well to college kids, believes in relaxing in life. Study the outline and this class is a breeze. Is picky about laptop users in class.
Really easy class. Only 3 chapters per test which is nice compared to other professors of this course. She is pretty funny, and knows this is a gen-ed class. I definitely recommend her.
Shes a good prof. She is very knowledgable about her subject and is one of the best gened health teachers. The only thing that sucks is that she doesn't allow laptops unless you sit in the front. Don't buy the textbook but make sure you get the workbook. If you look over the slides and pay attention and do the assignments you'll get an A
There are better health teachers at JMU, however, she's not bad. The tests are harder than they should be for a gened class. Provides you with more information than you need, including personal life stories. Does tend to keep you till the intended end of class time.
Prodoehl is a good teacher. She teaches from powerpoints that she also posts on blackboard, and you don't use the textbook in class. you can have 6 absences and the tests arent too hard if you study
Very easy class, tests are straight from the powerpoints. She treats the class like we're in 2nd grade and makes us have name tags, which was kind of weird. But she's a nice lady and means well. Take her if you want an easy A.
A nice professor, but did not agree with the nametag and attendance policy.
STAY AWAY IF YOU CAN!!! Never explains grading for assignments, never returns tests, boring and repetitive lectures. Rarely posts the powerpoint slides in time for class. Clearly proof that all PhDs are not intelligent. ANYONE ELSE IS BETTER THAN PRODOERT.
Do not underestimate the difficulty of her tests, it's not just common knowledge you have to review the powerpoints! Not a terrible class, just make sure to attend often and have your name tag. Make sure not to be late as well, she won't let you in if you're more than 5 minutes late.
I hated this class. She is so boring and lectures as if she is talking to herself. Attendance is mandatory but showing up is useless. I literally sat in the back of the room and played tetris the whole year. Her tests are decent and you never use the book but the lectures are so bad i wouldn't recomend the class to anyone.
do not take. Class is so boring, she teaches her opinions and grades on her opinions. projects are stupid and take forever and tests are very very difficult
dr. prodehl is good at what she does and the class is not difficult at all...there is some busy work, but nothing too bad or time consuming and it really helps to boost your grade in the end....tests are not too difficult...i did all the assignments and studied the powerpoints the night before and got a B+ in the class...i definitely recommend her!
Overall she was a great teacher, she was an easy grader as far as the discussions and other assignments were concerned...but the tests were kind of hard. Never managed to get an A on any of the tests even though I really didn't study for any of them, just look over the power points she posts on blackboard and you will be fine.
She shows YouTube videos for the first 20 of a 50 minute class, she reads from the PowerPoint, and gives massive amount of handouts that mean nothing. Her tests are hard and she doesn't give a study guide. Health Sciences is my major, but after being in her class I am looking to switch. Perhaps she's better in other classes..
One word: Boring.
She is a pretty fair health teacher, from what I heard others have a much harder time in health then I did. She teaches through power points and although the class is huge, she does take attendance and you have to get a clicker!
soooo boring, turns the lights off and reads straight from the powerpoints. so hard not to fall asleep. you basically relearn D.A.R.E class in the lectures and then get tested on a mixture of easy questions and unnecessary in depth questions. not super hard just so boring
She's a really nice lady, not always the best professor though. She's not the best at responding to e-mails and I don't think she ever gives out 100s. A lot of the material is really in depth and the test questions come from the powerpoints and multiple websites and handouts.
overall it is a pretty good class. she shows youtube clips in the beginning of class and lectures from powerpoints. It is an easy B and a pretty easy A. I would take her again.
She's a moron!! She doesn't know how to lecture, she's disorganized, her directions are unclear and her grading is different for each student. She wastes paper, and all of her assignments and powerpoints are full of grammatical errors. BORING CLASS!!!!! pathetic use of a Doctorate.
She's a moron!! She doesn't know how to lecture, she's disorganized, her directions are unclear and her grading is different for each student. She wastes paper, and all of her assignments and powerpoints are full of grammatical errors. pathetic use of a Doctorate.
Tests were long and had random questions that she didn't go over on them. Tests were very knit-picky. Other activities were easy points that helped level out the grades.
I recommend this class to everyone!! ... everyone who enjoys boredom, everyone who doesnt wish to get a good grade, and most of all everyone who wants to kill their gpa... Do yourself a favor and take GKIN. Avoid Terri and every other ghth teacher.
She is awesome... you would have to be a moron not to get an A in her class.. She explains everything more than enough and then her directions are even online for the people who dont listen. She is a very fair grader and all her assignments are manageable. Yes the tests are long but if u study powerpoints and listen in lecture u get an A easily!!
Prodoehl is really boring. Her tests are a lot harder than I expected. Going to class is a big waste but your only allowed 4 absences. You can't do other HW or text or she'll call you out in front of everyone. There are a lot of outside activities that are annoying but boost your grade at the end so do them.
Dr. Prodoehl is great. She explains everything thoroughly. This is primarily a freshman class though, so we had to be lectured about dumb stuff, like how some people couldn't find instructions for the wellness assignment that had been going on for 3 months. The tests were pretty easy with minimal studying necessary. Take her. She's really nice.
Anyone who complained about this teacher is clearly a freshman who has not learned how hard college is going to be. To get an A all you have to do is go to class, listen, turn in the EASY assignments, and read the chapter outlines SHE provides before the test. This class is beyond easy and actually a little interesting if you pay attention.
Prodoehl is a good person and an ok teacher. The homework she does give is easy if you just check the info she puts on blackboard. The class gets boring sometimes and fun at other times. She goes over a lot of notes but tests are mostly from the book they are a bit tough but not impossible to pass.
Going to class sometimes was a struggle but then again it was Health. The assignments are easy to do and her tests come mostly from the book. She gives extra credit if based on attendance so make sure you go. Take her!
Dr. Prodoehl is really nice and her class is a little boring. Each class is a lecture based on a powerpoint but it's a really easy class. The projects are really easy and the tests aren't bad. I would definitely recommend studying. You don't really need to read the book but it helps for the tests.
She's not the best. The classes are mandatory and very boring. The powerpoints and all the notes are put online so it makes class attendance pointless. She gives 4 "free" absences, but you get extra credit if you don't use those absences. Tests are LONG - 100 questions and tough. A lot of questions are based on useless percentages and prevalences.
Go to class, she takes role every day, and if you miss more than 4 classes it's 10 points off your final grade per one. Your only major grades are the test and they are a lot harder then everyone expects so study for them. You may have extra credit so go to class. Oh, and don't wait till the last minute to do your passports, big mistake.
She is a great teacher! so sweet and means well. Maybe you will have to do some learning on your own (but I'm not a reader and I thought this class was easy) do your urec logs and passports and you will do fine! TAKE HERR :)
For GHTH shes fine, dont take for any other class. Requires nametags daily even for upper level courses. if you dont have it she will mark you absent even if you're there. She had a complete breakdown in one of my classes because she knew she didnt teach well and wanted us to give her good scores on her eval, which she gave us AFTER the 200Q final
So boring, tests pretty hard but fair. I'd avoid
Tests are the only hard part of the class, and they're the same in all GHTH classes. Everything else is practically graded on completion. She doesn't give great warning as far as tests, though, so keep an eye on the syllabus. Also, study with the book, but beware: online practice tests have wrong answers in them.
Extremely boring! But it isn't a hard class at all. Between the passport events and health logs, if you don't do well on a test, it's ok. Tests aren't hard tho, just review the powerpoints.
I took her for Child and Adolescent Health. The class itself was pretty boring. Most of the information is common sense, especially for health majors. The tests were a little difficult but fair. She pushed the date of the first test back twice. You have to complete multiple article and video reviews that are a waste of time but easy As.
She is really funny and tries to keep information interesting but she treats you like a baby by taking attendance, in an over 100-person class, everyday. and you have assigned seats/ a nametag. But she is easy to understand and tests arent too hard. You barely need your book
Her class was straightforward and as easy as college gets. The tests are pretty much straight from the things she stresses in class and the powerpoints. Do the assignments and you'll get an A. I procrastinated on my passport assignment, didn't study for one test, and I got a B. Overall, she's a good professor. Just treat it like any other class.
Very BORING but easy. She reads straight off power points tests are pretty easy
Very boring but manageable. Yes, she takes attendance and yes, you do need to have a nametag. It's annoying but you know exactly what is expected. 5 tests and a few small assignments. I hardly put effort in this class and easily got a B.
She is an easy teacher. There isnt a lot of assignments and the tests are decently easy. She is kind of strict, there is a mandatory attendance policy but you can miss 3 classes I think. She makes you make a name tag and sit in the same seat every day. Also no laptops in class. The class overall is really easy but you might want another teacher
Dr. Prodoehl wasn't bad. The name tag and assigned seats sound silly but aren't a big deal. Your grade is based off of 500 points (400 from tests; 100 from small assignments). Read the chapters before tests and you'll be fine. She reads straight off the slides but at a pretty fast pace, and rarely puts PowerPoints online before class. Easy B/B+.
I found this class relatively easy and interesting. Tests aren't hard as long as you take good notes during lectures. You choose your assigned seats but its not bad at all. She tries to add humor to her lectures to keep them interesting. The grading is 4 tests (final not cumulative just like any other test) and other small easy grades.
I absolutely HATED this class. I would study for hours and still only make an 80 at the highest. I would thoroughly complete my homework assignments and she wouldn't give me full credit. I would email her questions and she would never respond. I really do not like this lady AT ALL. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. You will be miserable.
I HATED THIS CLASS. The tests didn't cover the material from class. I had no idea what I was being tested even though I would study for hours. She always had a weird attitude and didn't want to help students. I would definitely not recommend. TAKE SOMEONE ELSE.
Attendance is mandatory but not a big deal to go to class, she tries to make us interested with occasional videos and jokes. If you study the powerpoints before each test and read over your notes then you will do fine on the tests. I would recommend this class because the material is pretty interesting to begin with.
If you do the work, you will get a good grade. Tests are straight from the power points. You get 4 absences. Overall not a bad class.
RUN AWAY! She's terrible, hateful, and a horrible professor. Class is easy, but take another professor! I'd rather take a class at another community college than with her.
I LOVE Dr. P! She is such a caring, lovely lady. I also had her for HTH 372 (Child and Adolescent Health). She likes to have fun in the classroom by entertaining conversation and showing funny videos. She is one of my favorite instructors at JMU.
I loved Dr. Prodoehl! She's so informative and kind. Her tests are challenging, but the class material is interesting to begin with and she is able to make it even more intriguing. This has been my favorite Gen Ed yet. Class consists of four tests and several other smaller assignments. Not bad.
Class is extremely boring and hard to pay attention. I would recommend taking a different prof for this gen ed. Tests are very challenging. Works consists of several tiny assignments and four tests (100 mc except the final is 160 mc).
she is a terrible teacher. She is not understanding at all towards kids, very strict, just reads off her power points the ENTIRE class and its very hard to not want to fall asleep STAY AWAY
Prodoehl is such a horrible professor. The tests are really hard, studied the power points, my notes, and the textbook each time and got an 81 on every single test. She can also be downright rude. Take someone else!
Very boring teacher. Reads word for word off of power points all class. Tests on materials not covered.
She was hilarious some days, and boring others. Dreaded the bore of the class but I feel like you can only make health class but so fun.
So boring. Her tests are 80 questions and nearly impossible. You get treated like kingergardners because you HAVE to have your nametag at all times. You can't leave during the class. Save yourself and take someone else!
She is the most boring teacher ever and cannot make word documents to correctly submit your assignments to save her life. If you ask her any kind of question she gets annoyed and acts like you should automatically know everything. WORST TEACHER EVER. SAVE YOURSELF THE MISERY.
If you want an easy A, this class isn't for you. Prodoehl's lectures rarely ever have to do with the tests (which are tricky). Only plus side is there are up to 5 allowed absences (which you will definitely use) and her powerpoints are all online. She tries to start the class with humor so she resorts to random irrelevant 90's dog and cat videos.
Dr. Prodoehl is a great professor. People need to chill out. Her tests are straight off of power points which she posts online (no need for textbook) assignments are easy, and tests are straightforward if you study. Starts class with humor and its really cute. Don't use your phone or you're screwed. Overall the class was pretty easy and shes sweet.
If you want to take a class where you want to work hard, study hard, and get the reward for it (a good grade), then this class ISNT for you. Prodoehl is so bad with her lectures in correlation with the difficulty of her tests, and a lot of the questions on the actual exams have nothing to do with what are on the online powerpoints. I do not approve
Definitely a boring class, but it wasn't terrible. There are worse health teachers and it wasn't too hard. You just need to make sure you study, going to class doesn't really help that much either.
One of the kindest teachers I've had. She truly cares about her students and wants what's best for them. Her lectures are on the boring side and she uses Powerpoints off of canvas, but if you pay attention, you will be rewarded with useful life advice. She's the quirky mom you never had. Study for the tests, do the assignments, and you'll do fine.
Amazing! just study for the tests and to the physical wellness assignments and passports and you'll do fine. the arent many assignment in class and about 50 percent of the time the class starts with about 5 minutes of funny videos. she cares about her students and wants them to do well.
Attendance Policy sucks. Lectures are so long and boring, she just reads off the power point. Tests are doable if you study but there aren't many assignments otherwise to bring your graded up. Four outside events required and 25 hours at the gym is harder than it sounds. Take another GHTH teacher, or if you can take GKIN.
This class is really boring, and covers a large amount of content. Very hard to study for her exams because of the amount of stuff on each chapter. You don't need to purchase the textbook. Just always review your notes. Can miss 5 classes
The class lectures are pretty long and boring, but the class is very easy. Complete your passports and physical fitness log and you'll do fine. Easy A, in my opinion. You don't need to book at all and she posts all of her PowerPoints online.
Don't bother buying the textbook. Tests aren't on anything covered in class. Worst teacher I've ever had. Do not take her, she's rude and obnoxious. Not a fan.
Long lectures, but can sit in back and zone out bc they're all online. Just study the power point before test all you'll get an A. Tests are all multiple choicetrue-false. Only 4 tests, one of them is the final and its NOT cumulative. DON'T NEED THE TEXTBOOK! Lets you miss up to 5 classes.
prodoehl is a nice lady who truly does look out for her students and wants whats best for them. she allows 5 absences for the whole semester which is really great considering the class is 2 times a week. you must read every chapter on your own to study. the tests are really hard even though the material is common sense information
She is a very sweet lady. It is harder than I anticipated but if you work hard you will do fine. Do not take for an easy A
The class is very dry and lectures are long and boring, its health we've learned it before. The tests are hard if you don't study and they are a majority of your grade so you might suffer. Total of 5 tests, all 80 questions, with the final NOT cumulative which is nice. Recommend taking an easier teacher if possible. Don't buy the textbook.
I HATED THIS CLASS WITH SUCH A PASSION. All you need for every test is to study the powerpoint, which she puts all of them on canvas, so going to class is pointless because she reads them. The only reason you have to go is for mandatory attendance. Tests are so specific with statistics and lame health terms. You basically have to memorize the pwpts
The class is not hard as along as you do the assignments. Do not forget about them. The tests started out as easy, then the last 2 were hard. Overall, the class is average. It's not too hard as long as you do the assignments.
Uses class to promote own personal agenda, I would recommend just using the power points and pay attention to the "things to know" at the beginning of the slide
Dr. Prodoehl grew on me throughout the semester. She's not a bad professor but the class itself is basically my middle school health class all over again. The lectures can really boring and you have to study a lot for some of the tests, but as long as you go and do the work you'll pass.
This class is fairly easy. The test are a little hard but if you read the text book and go over the powerpoint you can get an A on them. There are a lot of assignments but they're so easy and they help bring up your grade. This class isn't as bad as other people are posting.. I would take it again.
Proedoehl is a very good professor that puts a nice spin on health in her lectures. Not too much work is required for the class. The tests are very hard on very particular material which made the class difficult.
Super sweet lady. Her class was very straight forward and you knew what to expect for every assignment. An easy A if you put in the effort, believe it or not even though it's health, you still need to study. She was fun, easy to talk to, everyone respected her. Would recommend
This class was fine. Honestly I don't think that anyone can make a health class exciting to go to, so it's pretty much as good as it's gonna get. She gives 5 sick days, but don't miss anymore and don't forget your passport. There's a lot that comes with this class: passport events, gym hours, mini quizzes, outside reading, tests, but it's doable.
She sent a TA around and if a student had their phone out their grade would drop
In class lecture slides are all online, so you can just look at them whenever you want, but she takes attendance which means you always have to show up or she lowers your grade. Tests are very challenging and include lots of stuff from the book, be sure to read the chapters. She's very strict and disciplined, made a gen ed class a struggle.
for a 1 credit class she gave too much work. my 3 credit classes had less work. she is very unclear on assignments and her expectations are high. AVOID IF POSSIBLE
Take this with another professor if you can. Tests are very specific and hard. Attendance is mandatory which is terrible because the class was so boring and she puts everything online. A lot of in class of assignments.
Just do the work. It isn't that hard. Seating chart was a bit childish, but whatever.
This is a 1 credit class. She assigns 2 tests, one being the final. She spends most of class clicking around on canvas and showing us assignments or showing us powerpoints. Mostly common sense, book is not necessary. There is assigned seating and you HAVE to have a TYPED name tag or you will be counted absent. Sort of childish, but overall easy.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! The class was only one credit and she provided more work then any of my 3 credit classes. She's not helpful and God Forbid you accidentally call her "Mrs" instead of "Dr" She assigns so much homework but gives terrible directions about what is expected. Take with any other teacher if possible!!!!
AVOID THIS PROFESSOR!!! Seriously it's the most ridiculous class. It's only 1 credit and she claims it should be easy but we get more work than any other classes. She's not helpful and doesn't respond to emails when students need clarification and when she does her responses are short and rude. It's really just immature. Id stay away if i could
HTH 150 feels like a complete waste of time but you will learn a lot. The class is only for 50 mins once a week but you will usually have some sort of big project due each week. It really sucks but it will help you when you get to upper level health classes. Dr. Prodoehl does a good job teaching but the assignments can s be unclear and unorganized.
worst teacher. she sucks at giving directions. every time I do things early she changes the requirements. Her class is painful to sit through. helpful information but she does not present it well yet thinks what she's saying is direly important. She doesn't even grade anything herself its all the TAs. easy class just take a different prof
Dr. P is a really funny and cool person, but her class is boring. The material is stuff we've been learning for years, but a little harder. If you pay attention in class and take notes, you should be fine. The required fitness hours suck so bad and so do passports, but that's not her requirements, just the course.
Loved her! She is so funny and badass. I thought the class was really easy. She puts all the power point lectures on Canvas so you can just review those before a test. Allows 5 absences before you get penalized which is really nice. The textbook is definitely not necessary.
WORST Teacher on the PLANT!! Avoid if possible
don't take her class, you will regret it
This class was way too much work for a 2 credit course. She is highly condescending and made the exams way more difficult than they needed to be. Most of the material is common sense and most of the assignments were pointless. Avoid her if you can.
Pretty boring class, almost impossible to follow along in lecture because it is such rinse and repeat information. Tests are really hard compared to how easy the lectures are. Attendance is mandatory and you only get 3 skips. Easy class but tests are way harder than they should be.
Would recommend! The class is all lectures but she is very funny and nice and has lots of personal stories she is willing to share. All the powerpoints are posted on canvas so studying for the tests is made easy. The tests vary in difficulty but when they're easy, they're very easy. She is definitely quirky but she means well
Prodoehl makes a 2 credit pointless class extremely difficult for no reason. She is very condescending and makes you feel stupid for asking any questions. You could pass the class without ever going but she is stickler about attendance. She made us make name tags that we had to have on desk as if we were in Elementary school.
If the name tags weren't bad enough she makes you have a assigned seat. Tests this year were completely matching and short answer, you'll need to study if you don't pay attention in class, which you won't. This class is so boring even the TA will make fun of her. Try to make class a back to back class or you'll be too tempted to skip.
Boring class, but that's just how it is. Not many assignments or things to do, but definitely get the book and do the end of the chapter questions because test questions come from it. Not bad just boring.
Prodoehl makes an easy introductory 2 credit class seem like a 4 credit upper level class. Mandatory attendance, you need a name tag or you're considered absent. Her lectures are extremely boring even though the material she covers in class is easy to follow. Her tests however are really hard compared to all of this. Definitely avoid her.
Way more difficult than a 2 credit class needed to be- assigned seats, nametags, mandatory attendance, and the exams were based on lots of unnecessary material; however, she was funny! SUPER boring lectures, but she's a very chill professor and is super friendly during office hours. Loved her, disliked the class. Just too much work for 2 credits.
If you can get another hth professor, you should. The lectures are insanely boring and she just goes through powerpoint slides full of tons of random unnecessary statistics that you need to know for her tests. The tests are on the lectures and the book so you have to study 100+ ppt slides in addition to 4 textbook chapters...
I maintained an A throughout the entire semester and during the final two weeks of class she gave out pop quizzes. It was unfair of her to undermine a student's semester-long handwork with two quizzes. A very harsh grader, but the class is doable. It's harder and more tedious than it should be for only two credits.
I loved Dr. Prodoehl! I have kept an A all semester and found her class easy. She's strict with her criteria but just wanted quality work. The textbook isn't necessary, and her lectures can be dry but she is absolutely hilarious! I would recommend.
Shes not hard but makes it harder than it needs to be(puts a lot of statistics). 5 tests, none cumulative. A few in class activities. Puts power points online and reads straight from them. BUT, you're only allowed 5 skips and takes points off if you go over 5. AND theres a seating chart.
She's by far the hardest for HTH150
If you are taking her class to fulfill your GenEd requirement, DO NOT TAKE HER. She makes simple material way more difficult than it needs to be on tests (which are 80 questions a piece). She grades extremely hard on little things and doesn't give good feedback as to why you received the grade that you did. She's awful at explaining the curriculum
If you are looking to take this class to fulfill your GenEd requirement, DO NOT TAKE IT WITH HER. Tests are 80 questions each and it's practically impossible to get an A unless you study all of the facts on her 50+ slide powerpoints. She is unclear with what she expects you to know & has too many links on each slide, leaving you overwhelmed & lost.
This class WAY MORE DIFFICULT than it needs to be, considering it's a Gened. Lectures are extremely boring and she doesn't explain important information enough. She doesn't give good feedback regarding why you received the grade you did and grades unnecessarily hard on little things. Tests have oddly specific questions and A's are hard to come by.
switch out why you can my friends, she's one of the worst professors I've had at JMU. Take this class if you want a lot of unnecessary work and like memorizing facts that are not helpful or useful in any way.
Other people are being dramatic. She really is not as bad as people make her out to be. Show up to class and listen. I didn't even take notes I just reviewed for her tests through the powerpoints she puts up on canvas. The class is straightforward.
Lots of mandatory things for the course like passports and gym hours. Prodoehl is a fine professor, pretty boring class but she tries to make jokes to lighten the mood. You can tell she cares about the subject. Tests are tougher than they need to be but you have to take it. Seems like all HTH classes are kind of the same.
There are better options for HTH 150. I ended up having to take her because HTH 150 is a relatively difficult class to get into since there are a lot of HS majors at JMU and she was the only open teacher. She is super dry and the class is unbelievably boring. She grades tough and is not too helpful with feedback. Would not recommend.
Although you are allowed 5 absences, I would not recommend Dr Prodoehl. Test material is barely covered in class and the tests aren't easy to study for. All we do in class is listen to lectures from the powerpoint which is later posted on canvas.
Boring class seems to be easy topics, yet tests are fairly difficult. Terri is nice, but will call you out if you are on your phone, not paying attention, or try to go to the bathroom. A lot of outside work, but decent gen ed.
Lots of work for a 2 credit class. if you have another choice, I wouldn't take her. She's nice but she reads directly from the slides and clicks on all sorts of links and you may or may not zone out. Plus you can only miss 3 classes but wish you could skip more. I wouldn't ever need to go to class for an A because she posts her slides on canvas.
This class is kind of boring but she often gets off topic and will show funny YouTube videos. The tests are multiple choice but not always very easy. You need to study for the tests to do well.
you will survive if you have to take her but absolutely avoid if you can. so many out of class assignments for a 2 credit class. class is mostly her struggling to show us terribly boring videos. sometimes she is funny but im usually counting down the minutes..
She is a good professor. There is a lot of work to be done for a 2 credit class but even Prodoehl says the class should be an easy A.
Professor Prodoehl shows funny videos at the beginning of most classes which is a nice way to get everyone focused. The lecture can get boring at times but Prodoehl has a good sense of humor that'll keep you alert. Don't really have to take notes in class. Test are challenging but if you study you'll do fine.
Least favorite class this year. It isn't extremely hard but she assigns so many time consuming assignments like grammar worksheets that an elementary school kid could do. She's super strict about tech in class and attendance, can't even go to the bathroom during class. She's a cool person, funny sometimes, but takes this class way too seriously.
This class was so ridiculous, its a 2 credit class and actually made me want to change my major from health sciences because she makes its unbearable. She is extremely strict and a tough grader and makes the assignments way harder than they need to be. This should be an easy A but she makes it too hard, dont take her.
This class is not nearly as difficult as these people make it out to be. Actually, it was really easy. You don't even need to go to class or read the textbook to get an A. She posts her lectures on canvas. She's a little eclectic but really nice and accommodating. I would take one of her classes again.
Confusing. As a person she can be chill, even funny sometimes. But I wish I had read this site before choosing her class. She made a 2 credit class way more than it needed to be. She sometimes just gives you a grade without reviewing your actual work. The stuff she "grades" she grades very strict. Do not use nay info online. Get info from textbook.
This professor is super boring and basically just reads off the slides. She goes off on boring, irrelevant tangents and half the time I had no idea what she was trying to teach us.
Prodoehl is super nice but her class could be so easy, but instead, she makes her tests so detailed that it is hard to get an A on them. Every class is a long boring lecture and she assigns your seat, doesn't let you leave, and never lets class end early. The only good thing is that you get five absences.
She isn't really bad but she also isn't great. She gives assigned seats which is annoying and her lectures are really boring. If you go over her slides and listen in lectures it isn't hard to pass the class with a good grade.
don't buy the textbook!!!! she posts the lecture slides and any info you need you can google. Offers a lot of extra credit and multiple attempts for online quizzes/activities. Lecture is boring and unfortunately attendance is mandatory but she's understanding about letting you leave early, etc. Tests are lengthy and hard, so get ready to study!!
Class is decent, but there are assigned seats and grade relies heavily on tests as well as passports. Don't need to buy the textbook since she posts the slides with all of the information that you need. Attendance is mandatory, but she is understanding if you do miss. Make sure to study since the tests are difficult. Extra credit is given as well.
The lectures are boring and the tests are way harder than they should be and go into too much detail. you get assigned seats after the first couple of classes and she lets you get 5 free absences which are nice. This class is harder than it should be for a gen ed. She is a nice lady though and shows some funny videos and is kind.
This lecture is so boring but you have to go to the class because after 5 classes she takes 10 points off your grade each time. I had this class in the middle of the afternoon and would wanna fall asleep. The material is common sense and easy but she decides to make the test and class way harder than they need to be.
Prodoehl is a nice lady. This class is just so so boring. All assignments are super easy and I never had to take notes for this class. Attendance is taken everyday and you are allowed to miss 3 classes before it affects your overall grade. Definitely an easy A, just drink a lot of caffeine before class!
This class is not a problem at all! The "homework" is relatively quick and easy, and the two tests are a breeze. She does take attendance, but if you miss class, her powerpoints are online. Lectures can be boring, but they are helpful for in-class exercises (not graded). If you do the work, it is an easy class. Be sure to ask her questions!
This class was not bad at all. Attendance is mandatory, but if you are missing more than 5 classes your grade wont be great anyways. I recommend taking notes on the powerpoints she posts. The tests are hard if you dont look over them, but I ended up getting As after I figured that out. Personally I found her very funny and accommodating.
Professor Prodoehl tries to make health an interesting class, but her lectures tend to be monotone and kind of boring because it's all stuff that we learned in high school health. Attendance is definitely mandatory and make sure that you get your passports done early if you want to be able to complete all of them.
Her class is easy but her lectures are so boring. She offers a lot of extra credit and her tests aren't too bad.
The class is not hard. There are 5 tests that arent cumulative which are fine but she is not. I have never dreaded a class more in my life. Attendance is mandatory and her voice will make you want to smash your head into the wall. She is the rudest, most annoying professor on campus and I would drop out before taking another class with her.
I'm a upperclassmen who transferred here, and I had to take this (or kin) for the Gen Ed requirement. The difficulty this class should be an easy A, and it is. All lecture notes are posted online and you are allowed 5 skips. Only hard part is passport events but every Hth 100 class here requires them. Just read the syllabus and you should be good.
I genuinely could not stand her. She treats college students like 9th graders. Takes phones in class, puts a limit on how many people can go to the bathroom. She loves to call people out in class so dont fall asleep or do anything to set yourself apart. The class itself is easy, shes just dreadful
HTH 150 students, DO NOT take her. Her class is the most annoying, excessive 2 credit class I have ever had. I had less work in my 3 credit classes than this one. Not to mention that she treats her students like little kids. You cannot miss more than 3 classes which sounds okay, but beware this will be the most boring class you ever take at JMU.
A super mean and disrespectful person. Its ironic because she teaches health but was the least helpful and understanding professor when I was bed ridden for a week. Got very off topic during lectures although you could only miss 5 without affecting your grade. Waste of my time. Made a easy class into a very difficult and time consuming class.
Not the nicest lady ever - calls people out for using the bathroom, not very understanding, etc. The tests are actually way too hard considering this is a gen ed requirement. As a teacher she's fine, just hard tests and snippy at times. I had to work so hard for a B-
If people failed her hth 100 class, its because they didnt put in the work. Her exams are literally just her powerpoints, I only ever studied those and never got below an 85. I put maybe an hour or two in studying. I mean she is a little full of herself, but other than that, she isnt the worst professor you could get.
In my opinion, her class wasn't that difficult. Yes attendance is mandatory, but she's funny and makes the lectures bearable. Her tests aren't hard, you just need to memorize information from her powerpoint. To get an A, just do the passports events, physical wellness logs, and check for any assignments, because they are all easy grade boosters.
She isn't that bad, but she isn't very understanding. Due date means due date, there's no getting around her. Stay on top of canvas to remember online quizzes and possible extra credit opportunities. I thought that this class would be easy to slack on and that was my mistake. Take her class seriously from the beginning and you'll be ok.
Terri is a decent teacher. Most people find her bluntness offensive or how serious she takes herself irritating. This is my second class with her teaching it and I think shes pretty amusing. Attendance is mandatory but half the time we look at dog videos all class. Going to class is a waste of time but you have to go. Its a pretty easy A.
she's not really a nice person and isn't always nice about grading
Dr. Prodoehl is good. The biggest thing in the class is attendance. You get 5 absences and after the 5 you get points off. The class lectures are boring for the most part but if you make it through you will be fine. She has easy homework assignments online that you need to be aware of. Majority of grades are Tests (5) Exam not cumulative.
Her class isn't bad, but lectures are boring. The biggest problem is that it is hard to know when stuff is due since she will put it under modules rather than assignments. She also will not extend any deadlines even though its sometimes unclear when stuff is due. Lots of work but if you do it, you will get a good grade.
The professor is very detailed during lectures and the tests arent hard, but sometimes I think information on the tests dont line up with the lectures. She is a nice professor and the material is common sense for the most part.
didnt like her. doesnt offer extensions even tho many assignment details are unclear. class is not hard or anything it just her attitude. strict no phone policy she will literally call you out in class and take points off if she see u using ur phone. group presentations are harshly graded. wouldnt recommend but if u stuck with her youll be fine tbh
Dr. P is such a no-nonsense woman, but in a good way. She's sassy and will call out things she thinks are stupid (like drinking). However, in the same vein, she's also very caring and open. She will share her personal experiences with the topic, and she is very respectful of her students and their backstories. She's an awesome woman, no question
I would definetly recommend this class, it was interesting and the work was do able. She is a nice lady and the tests were not that bad. She does give some extra credit and easy quizzes on material. She did not teach a lot you mainly have to take notes on your own from the power points. If you put in some work you will get an A.
This professor makes this class so entertaining and makes sure students understand the material. There are about 5 tests and some quizzes along with other easy assignments to help you understand the chapter. She is very caring and a great choice for HTH 100!
Her class was very easy, a lot of answers are online and tests/quizzes are easy because of that. Most of the information is also somewhat common sense. Only thing that aggravated me was the amount of true or false questions.
I recommend this class! Assignments are easy A if you follow directions closely. Tests are difficult, not all questions are derived from the curriculum. You never find out what you get wrong on your tests so it's hard to improve. She gives extra credit which really helps your grade. Work hard on small assignments, do ok on tests, you will get an A.
Gets hated on because her lectures can be a little boring sometimes, but definitely a great prof who makes everything very clear. Assignments are super easy and tests are pretty easy if you take your time. Class is not mandatory, but those who attend class regularly receive extra credit.
Student Beware! She was one of the worst professors I have ever had. Lectures are so boring basically no group work. All just quizzes and tough test- that are timed. For example we had a 75 question best and had to finish it in 50 minutes, and could not go back if you left one blank. Snarky in emails as well. Also her canvas is horribly unorganized
The professor is not too bad, but there is a lot of work in the class for two credits. She is very clear in what she expects on assignments so either do what the grading criteria says or better. You're not required to show up to class but if you did 75% of the time, she will bump up your grade if your close to the next grade. Tests are hard though.
I wouldn't take this professor if you have a chance. Doesn't care about her students, work let you turn anything in late, no extra credit, and no opportunities to raise your grade unless you went to at least 75% of the classes. Boring and wasn't even a health class, basically a grammar test. Learned nothing.
Professor Prodoehl is very particular with her assignments, but overall is a great professor. It is a lot of work for a 2 credit Gen Ed but that isnt her fault. It is so easy to get a good grade in this class if you just do your work correctly and on time. Doesnt really round grades up but she made that clear early on. I would take her again!
This class was okay. Dr. P is a sweet lady, but lectures are super dense and a bit all over the place. Tests ask for SUPER specific information from the PowerPoints, but also have a lot of easy T/F questions. Not much HW at all and most is pretty easy. Not required to read textbook, so I only used for vocab words. No final exam, just a last test.
This class was average for a GenEd health class. There was an exercise requirement but less so than with KIN100. Class was not mandatory but it helped with some extra credit at the end of the semester. Dr. Prodoehl was very funny and often added to the material during class to make it make more sense.
Dude. She. Is. so. boring. Very strict in class (if you are sleeping she marks you absent and will call you out for just about anything in the middle of class) and strict on assignments. Also no laptops or phones AT ALL. But past all that the class is SO SO easy.. so up to you if you take
I wish she wasn't retiring this year because she's so funny and interesting. She does require outside of class work but it's the same as all the HTH100 classes. Lectures got boring after a while though, but a great option for the gened
Can miss up the 5 classes, no electronics. She is kinda mean and her lectures are very boring. Her assignments are what any other health professor is going to give you. There are only 5 tests, non are cummulative. If you don't study and do all the assignments should at least get a B or high C. to get an A you have to study for tests pretty hard
Dr. Prodoehl is a solid professor. You HAVE to attend class or you are screwed on the tests, which make up most of your grade. Overall, I enjoyed her class and its an easy A.
I would pick a different prof. Prodoehl is strict about attendance and is not compassionate or understanding. She does not give exceptions (even with the ODS accommodations ). Towards the end of the semester, she started putting three attendance polls throughout the class. Her lectures are slow and tests are hard if u don't go to class.
Her lectures are extremely boring, but the class itself is pretty easy because it is straightforward, almost general knowledge. We only had a few assignments throughout the semester, and wellness passports and physical activity log help to boost grades if you complete them. Boring but easy.
If you don't have the means or time to get to UREC at least 15 times throughout the semester, don't bother with this class. Most of the work in this class is done on your own time (attending speaker events, going to the gym, etc.) and her lectures are dry. Most tedious GenEd ever.
She wasnt bad and I thought the lectures were good but shes not understanding regarding attendance
Dr. Prodehls lectures were always super funny, engaging, and informative. Pretty fair attendance policy. All assignments are easy and self explanatory, tests are somewhat hard, but she definitely curves them to help. So sad she is retiring after this year and I wish her the best!!
Class was fine, tests were just extremely long and there were five and a final. If you take her online make sure to never miss a class because she takes points off if you don't complete 5 of her surveys every class.
She does not care about her students at all. I would also be willing to bet she does not make or even read over her boring powerpoint lectures before she presents. For this gened credit at JMU, definitely take KIN100.
The lectures were interesting and engaging, but I am also a health major. I took her class online and she was somewhat flexible regarding some assignments, but it was mainly her ta's that were super flexible and caring. It took a while for her to respond to emails, but she had a lot of students. The class wasn't too hard, just very content heavy
I loved Dr P. She was so funny and knew how to keep class interesting. I barely studied for any of the tests and never read the textbook and still ended with an A. She is strict about electronics but I personally did not see it as a huge issue. You also have a lot of easy assignments to boost your grade and an extra credit opportunity.
I've been in this class for a little over a month now and all I can say is that this class is very easy, but VERY boring. I find myself falling asleep all the time. I wouldn't avoid this professor, but just be ready for hair pulling lectures.
If you forget to do something or are sick and don't turn it in, good luck you wont get any credit. First test was super easy, all the rest were on such specific things that it was hard to get a good grade on them. Wouldnt take her class again.
Prodoehl herself was a an absolute pain. She acts like a high school teacher that takes her job way too seriously and gives the most boring lectures. The class itself is easy as long as you keep up with the random assignments. I wouldn't say to avoid her completely, but if you can I would.
This class is an easy A, yet SOOO boring. There's 5 tests, final is non-cumulative. You can study for tests by looking over the PowerPoints and memorizing all the info. Attendance is mandatory, if you miss more than 5 classes she knocks you down a letter grade from your final grade. She is lowkey rude but occasionally says really funny things.
She is a decent teacher, if you take this class you will mostly have to teach yourself the topic in order to get a good grade. But she is an absolutely awful human being, she always comes off as being extremely rude and arrogant for absolutely no reason at all. If you are trying to get help or reach out to her, forget about it.
She seems to think she is very funny but is actually just mean. Not a good person is the only way to put it.
Doesn't follow her own syllabus when it comes to people she doesn't like. Also extremely sexist, will give girls answers on tests and tell guys to go back to their seats.
when these reviews say she is an awful professor, they mean it. She's probably the worst human being I've ever encountered. Extremely rude and arrogant for no reason. She doesn't care about any one or what hardships you're facing. She makes attendance mandatory, but all she does in class is make you watch videos of other school's lectures.
Honestly did not like her as a professor at all. I completed an assignment but turned it in in the wrong format by accident, and when I emailed her to ask her if I can get any credit she never responded. Then when I asked her after a class, she knew exactly what I was talking about and gave me a lot of attitude about it. Attendance counts and you.
Possibly the worst Professor at JMU. Lectures are so boring and literally made me fall asleep almost every class. Only good thing about this class was the comfy chairs. Never read the textbook and still got an A because the class is easy. All I did was show up to class and memorize the PowerPoints 2 hours before the test.
I really didn't need the textbook for this class, so honestly if you want to share a book with someone that would be beneficial so you don't pay the price for the textbook. Most of the time I used that class as background noise because it was common sense.
Lectures are boring but tests are easy. The passports, assignments and fitness log boost your grade
Dr. Prodoehl was by far the worst professor I have ever had at JMU. Her lectures were completely uninteresting, her attendance policy & seating charts (for a GenEd class) were ridiculous, and she was beyond arrogant. Would never take her again & if you can avoid her class, you should.
