fun, loud

Great teacher!! I went to her office and asked her for help and she helped me.
Excellent teaching style.
Phenomenal teacher. Has an uncanny knack for reading her students.
really wonderful person and teacher. enthusiastic and fun!
wonderful person teaches incredibly
Made math seem not so scary! Made sure EVERYONE understood before moving on.
funny and cool...helps a lot..i liked her
Took several math classes with her...not by choice...just happened to be how my curriculum was lined up. Very tough teacher. Finals drops grades at least one letter. Graded papers and tests are NOT returned in a timely manner to monitor your own grade.
While a bit moody, Terrie is a truely caring and talented Instructor who is willing to go out of her way to ensure student success - just don't get on her bad side.
Breaks things down. Cares about the students. If I hear the phrase "Doe in the headlight look" one more time though... All around great teacher.

Does not return tests or papers back in a timely manor. Excellent teacher otherwise. VERY understanding and willing to help out to get the concepts taught in class.

She will sit down with you until the concept is clear. Good lectures. She makes math fun. Assigns & tests are not returned in a timely manor. In class tests are to long. Don't disturb on busy or bad days.
Have taken Terrie for several math courses and have always felt that she cares deeply about her students. Always is willing to go over a concept repeatedly and with patience until it is understood. Wonderful person and teacher.
She has a very different approach to teaching. She is helpful in class, but gives way too many assignments and tests and work is much harder than lecture notes. She brings personal issues into class and has a huge ego trip.
One of the worst teachers ever taken in my life. Witnessed her cuss out one of the students in class. She gives way too much homework, does not hand back assignments, and does not let you ask questions. do not take!
I had her once, when she sub'd my class for one day and I noticed that she was very cruel to students. One student went up to ask her a simple question and she answered very sarcastically, she seemed to belittle to student.

she took two months to grade a test so i didnt know my grade until it was too late to drop
has an ego that is out of control for a teacher teaching @ a community college. lecture notes are just the basics, yet test questions are beyond anything she explains in class. assigns a ridiculous amount of homework for a 4-day-a-week class.
She is a wonderful person. Although she signed many homework assigements but these assigements are really healpful to understand the material. If u did the homework u will get A++ i the class as i got in her class and if u want to learn take her class.
You need a teacher who will come into class and do their job, which is to TEACH MATH! This teacher is extremely arrogant, disrespectful, undependable, and unreliable. She seemed to hate showing up for work. She missed more days than most students. HMMM..
Worst Teacher Ive ever taken
Best teacher I've ever taken. :) This teacher changed my life by believing in me. She's fun, brilliant, inspiring, and truly cares about her students. Terrie's classes are tough, and you only get out what you put in. She's always willing to help.
cusses at students, grades subjectively, does not answer questions in class, rarely available to help students even during office hours, brings home/life issues into class, moody, assigns problems even she cant do, way too many hw assignments, STAY AWAY!

Best Math instructor I've taken so far. Makes sure everything is understood and clear to everyone before moving on.
she is an interesting character, who is kind with an slight attitude. The class is tough to teach and to take. If you make it through 280 then will probably have meet your worst non-therotical math class.
Discrete wasn't like a math class at all, it was that much fun. Terrie loves the subject and it shows in her approach to it. After the first 3 chapters, we got to set the pace and were allowed to collaborate on in-class tests at times. No surprises on tests. Would have liked a 2 hour class instead.
Mixed feelings, she is smart and can explain well when she is having a good day, but is subjective in grading, she does give you loads of oppurtunities but is not always the most fair. She is an OK teacher and is willing to help students out if she has the time, a good teacher with her own issues.
test is hard, but she is very helpful.Final exam is covered all midterm exams. If you do homework, you can get good grade.
All these positive raitings are Terri rating herself. She is the worst teacher you will ever have. Terrible teacher, very moody, extremely subjective grading, and a nightmare for any student that actually cares about their grade. AVOID AT ANY COST.
She is the bast math teacher I have ever had, she helped my understand!!
hard subject but she is really helpfull, very Knowledgeable , SHE IS THE BEST.
Wonderful instructor. I'm thinking that maybe she had a bad semester or somthing, because none of that other stuff I read are true. I have learned so much from her teaching style.
Terrie is very funny and energetic. She is a great instructor and makes sure that everyone understands the material. She will take the time to give you extra help.
Good instructor, but she is not organized at all (you'll get your papers back after couple of weeks!!!), not that much extra credit except for those who talk during her lecture which I think is not fair. She is absolutely knowledgeable, and super smart. Final exam is 100% comprehensive (in class), and it is 20% of your final grade.
University level intstruction--Terrie kicks butt.
Terrie is brilliant, and like most brilliant people she can be moody--so what. She is a phenomenal teacher. If you want someone who is not going to baby you and pass you with no knowledge, this is your teacher. If you do the work, and pay attention you will get a great understanding of the material. If you need help, ASK. She will help.
The worst teacher I 've ever had.Took the class during summer, it was a very hard class and Terrie didn't make it any easier at all.She doesn't give a damn about her students.Doesnt know what time management is.we had 14 sections left for 8 days ,and remenber we are talking about Calc two.Well if you take her, good luck passing with a good grade.
tough material + bad instruction = waste of time. the material isn't easy but it is doable with an instructor who knows how to teach it. i do not recommend her at all. she doesn't care about her students and was totally unavailable outside of class time.
Stop whining. Ms. Nichols is a REAL professor who will not baby you (like many community college students are use to). If you are a serious student, you can not ask for a better instructor.

Nichols is very good, but class is still tough.
Terri is good at teaching the material, but she is a horrible teacher. She never returns things in a timely manner, if she returns them at all, so you never know your grade. She also doesn't pace the class well, so you end up with a lot of tuff material at the end. Extremely frustrating!
had to drop as she had no control of the class.would not take a class from her again
she is a ver smart and has good teching bailities BUT very unorganized. I mean it! its the end of semester and the only paper she has graded so far is the First exam!!!....so if u dont care to know your grade till the last minute take her!!!
Terrie really is a sweet and fun person and makes class an enjoyable. Calc is a hard subject, but Terrie is more than happy to help you with anything she can. She spent hours with me outside of class, explaining the difficult concepts. She doesn't always return things on time, but if you persisently ask her for something, she'll grade it for you.
Ms. Nichols concentrated more on negociating her contract with the district than she did teaching her class. That aside, she is a very good professor.
Terri is an awesome teacher! I hated math before I took her. If you need help she will stop to make sure you understand. Who cares if you dont get paper work back all the teaching she does makes up for it. Lots of work that she does with you until you tell her you get it! Best math instrutor I have ever had!

She is an awesome teacher! If you have to take math take her! She takes a hard subject and makes the class fun. Everyday was a new adventure with her! TAKE HER!!!
Horrible. Don't believe all these, "Oh, she's the best!" statements because she's really not. She is very nice and pretty funny, but needs work on the teaching skills. Male math teachers are much better.
She is a VERY VERY funny teacher, but that's about it. She is not a good teacher when it comes to Math 110. I do not recommend her. She says she will collect hw and never does. She asked for chaper 3 and 4 at the need of the semester!! we had already been done with that!! Not the best teacher.. But she is funny. Great friend to have... Teacher?nope
Not only is she hilarious, she is by far the best professor I've had. These people who have given her bad scores are probably right out of high school and still expect teachers to hold their hands. Although work is never given back on time, she is the fairest teacher I've had. Calculus II is supposed to be the hardest math but she made it so easy!
Terrie is a great Calculus teacher. I learned so much from her over these last 6 weeks, I never thought calculus could be so much fun. I wish I weren't transferring in the fall b/c I'd take Calc II with her as well. All her assignments come back on time and she is always willing to help us understand
She is a very funny teacher. If you're not a math person, this class can be difficult, but study and have an open mind.
UUUUUMMMM.....I'M REALLYYY JUST TRYING TO HELP ....so DO URSELF and please DONT take THIS TEaCHER.....save urself the headache.....its not worth it....TRUST ME...NO TEAChing skills at alllll....and really boorrrringggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg
very unorganized. the tests were beyond difficult. we were constantly tested on stuff we had not learned. she put things on the final we had never seen before and even said "yeah, you've never seen this one" when telling us what to study. teaching methods were very scattered. otherwise, terrie is very nice and funny. always made me laugh in class
Terrie Nichols is the worst teacher I have ever come across. Teaching is work- work pays bills, Terrie teaches to pay her bills she doesn't care about her students or their learning. i.e in my Math 180 course we had thirty minutes to take a test, when we asked for more time she told us to get tested for learning disabilities.
I would have been better off not going to any classes and just reading the book. Extremely unorganized, lazy, expects way too much from the students with the little effort she puts into her lessons. She kept giving us the excuse that she hasn't taught this class in 6 years. Thanks for wasting my time and money.
Terrie is a great professor who wants to make sure her students learn the material. She will challenge you but she grades easy. I came out of calculus 2 knowing more than all my friends at state. Prepares you well for differential equations and calc 3. If you think her classes are hard you probably arent fit to be a scientist or an engineer.
I had her for a summer session. The class would have otherwise been boring if taught by any other teacher. she does give xtra credit and is honestly a treat to what would be a very difficult subject. My first math class in over 6yrs and thanks to her, it won't be my last. Just stay away from summer sessions for any math class, if not, take Terri!
omg she is the WORST teacher I have ever had!!! she yells at her students and never has time for you if you ask her a question. She is lazy and never has anything graded. All she cares about is her food during class and never teaches anything!!!!
Terrie is a great teacher. Her class IS hard because calculus IS hard, but she gives extra credit and is always willing to answer questions during ofc hrs. She is VERY unorganized but very funny too. I love her teaching style. I had a difficult semester & she cared about me not only as a student but as a person too. I appreciate that. A+ from me.:)
need to learn math? want to have fun going to class? you will LOVE being in her class. she is THE BEST math teacher ever, she is very nice and funny and explains the subject very well. she drops the lowest exam, and quiz, shes super AWESOME! and she gives bonus points to students!
She is the best teacher I have ever had. She drops 2 lowest quizzes and 1 test. She gives a lot of stupid extra credit to pets. You have to be really lazy to pass her class. I would recommend her math 280 to lazy people, who hate math.
OMG the worst teacher I've ever had. She is lazy and lackadaisical. She takes forever to return any graded assignments. If you are easily distracted do not take this class.
Extremely unorganized, lazy, expects way too much from the students with the little effort she puts into her lessons. I would have been better off not going to any classes and just reading the book. Thanks for wasting my time
Never grades work until the end, changes mind constantly, very opinionated, loves her students, tons of extra credit, tons of homework, kinda loud but funny.
Terrie is an amazing teacher. I took her for math 180, 280, 281, and 285. There were other teachers I could have taken but I already know how great she is. Her classes are hard but that is only because the material is hard. Do the homework and don't be afraid to ask questions and you'll do fine.
she is by far one of the WORST prof i EVER had! if you guys dont believe me, try her out and see what you think!! yea she drops 2 quizzes and a test, so what? doesnt mean shes a good teacher. final, as well as other exams, is ridiculously hard and expects you to know things that you dont know!! she doesnt teach material well! take millan at gmont!
Terrie is very helpful teacher and fun. If you do the homework you can pass her class easly.
Terrie, if you read these comments, PLEASE let another instructor teach this course. Math 285 is challenging enough as it is, I found that I had to learn most of the material on my own, which made me feel that going to class was a waste. PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE,let a different instructor have a shot at teaching this course. You may gain some insight.
.Grades due 12/22, apologized said grades would be ready 12/23, actual release date of grades 12/30, all of this equals an UNORGANIZED math teacher, very very bad, How can you be a math teacher and be this unorganized? DO NOT TAKE HER FOR ANY MATH COURSE!!
.She is very unorganized, we were so far behind we had to learn multiple integrals in a week, gives out bonus points to her favorites, final is like nothing we covered during the course, better off teaching yourself, the worst math professor I have ever had!
.She believes that she is absolutely brilliant, she maybe but definitely not at teaching math, she would give homework problems that would take her two hours to complete and she has a math degree, what a waste of time and a lost semester, would not recommend her for any math course
absolutely the worst prof ever! i learned nothing from her class and although i got an A, i learned nothing. she has favorites and she's very lazy
Very difficult to follow, bounces around to many different thoughts at once, definately has favorites in class, and if you aren't one of them, good luck getting extra help, thinks she's a genius. Very lazy and unorganized. I have survived the class because of my own independant work.
i enjoyed how she bounce from thought to thought. it helped me keep focused. she was helpful and she always tryed to help us wtih our questions. she dos give us work back late.
very rude.. got irritated when i asked for help, tried to humiliate me in front of class because i had trouble with my calculator.. has favorites in class, very disorganized lecture, confusing, difficult exams, goes off on tangents about how great her son is because he is a PhD student.. WHO CARES TERRIE. get over it.
Very heavy workload. Homework is mandatory. Labs were more difficult than our chem labs but relevant if you're going into a hard science and you need to make and interpret scatter plots, linear and exponential graphs. She knows her stuff though. Even brought in some work from other classes and she helped. If you stick to it, you can do well.
She judges her students on appearance and personality and grades them differently in relation to her likings. in other words she doesn't grade fairly. Even if you have the right answer on a test but didn't show much work, she won't give you points even for problems you can do in your head that really don't require any work.
She is eccentric and humorous. She explains problems well if you ASK her. Homework was easy! The midterm and quizzes were take home and from the homework so if you failed it's your fault, also you can work with your classmates. I am so happy I didn't listen to the reviews because she has been one of my favorite teachers.
YES I agree with you guys, she is very bad teacher and not organized at all. And she brags about her son alot like we are all stupid her kid is the only smart ever. Terri it is time for you to be organized do your own work don't use the office hours to chat with the student you like we are all here to learn, she brings her boyfriend to class.
DON'T LISTEN TO THE REVIEWS. She is the best professors I have had so far. She is so helpful, and her work is very easy. I'm taking her class now . She is always cracking jokes, and keeps the class laughing. I love her, she is the best. If you need math 096, take her. Trust me you'll love her.
If your looking to break through the math wall. I highly recommend taking her stats academy classes. She is a god send. Thanks to her hard work and sacrifice, I will be able to transfer to an University. If math is holding you back she is the one to help you gain the intellectual tools you need to break free from math.
Terrie is amazing and helpful-comes across disorganized, but if you do the work and participate then you won't have a problem. I would not have been able to get through math without her and this class-she really cares about her student's success! I took her math 96 class too-such a better option than the traditional math route!
Awesome teacher. Really nice!
Her elementary stats class is as she calls it and "upsidedown classroom." Not a traditional math class. Terrie even says it's not for everyone. Little in class lecture, the material is learned by the student asking her questions, and you're in groups to help you out as well. Pretty funny too. Related the math material with real-life scanrios.
ive had terrie as a teacher for 2 semsters. both 96 and 160. she can have her moments ut she is really a nice teacher and person whenit comes down to it. she puts so much work into her classes and the stat peogram. but the point is without TERRIE,who youre complaining about, most of u would still b stuck taking math classes!!
Easiness, this class is not an easy class because of the material.However,Ms. Nichole tries her best to clarify the material for you and goes step by step with you to understand it.I was in love with her way of teaching. She is very helpful even in her free times. She does quizes every week to make sure you are studying the material,so try to focus!!!
GREAT program for non-math majors. She, however, was flaky, slightly rude, and definitely had her favorites as mentioned in prior comments. Homework and quizzes are easy, but final exam was nothing like material covered. Last two weeks was extremely condensed and contained material on which most of the final was based.
This class made me not want to come to school. It's so COMPLETELY BACKWARDS. And what sucks is I understand everything! It's just the homework is KILLING ME. OLI is a horrible program YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR that she substitutes for actually teaching. It's not personal, just academic. I didn't want an online class but I got one.
I didn't go in liking the class but now toward the end I do appreciate the way I learned statistics. Her lesson plan is new and engaging, a bold and risky move to teach it not by traditional lecture style. But it shows she really does care for her students though she runs a hectic classroom. Keep up with oli and attendance and it will be an easy A.
She was mean and rude in the class. "shut up!","you are annoying me!"...these what she spoke to her students. Lecture is Ok. Quizzes are from homework. Tests are not easy.
What to say about Terrie Nichols..... If you struggle in Math and you are in luck! She is always there to offer her help, advice and guidance throughout the semester but you got to put in the work for her class. Terrie cares about her students success it they care. Don't hesitate to ask Terrie for help! She is the BEST of the BEST!
What to say about Terri? Rude not professional at all, she will shut you up if you say a word that she doesn't like, quizzes and tests are from the homework but she doesn't explain the lecture that well, depends on her mood and how she feel on that day, overall very rude and disrespectful of her students, if you want to be annoyed then take her
WORST teacher I've ever had. She was all over the place and very, very unorganized. The online work for OLI is a waste of time and money. I did not learn anything in this class and it felt as if I was taking an online class!
Terrie is an excellent teacher. She is very good at explaining things and has a fun personality. Her teaching style may not be for everyone; she is very serious about her subject and will not coddle you if you're a slacker. However, if you're willing to work hard and listen well, you'll do great.
I absolutely loved Terrie! She has a unique way of teaching that works! Of course, some students don't like her methods. That is because they are lazy. There is no text book, so you actually have to show up to class to get assignments. So, if you don't plan on attending every class you will probably be dropped.
Fair professor, but makes hard test to make a hard class harder. You have to pay extremely close attention to keep up. Miss a beat and you'll be hurting. But if you stay on top of the material then you will do well.
she knows what she is doing nevertheless you must pay very close attention and if you do the homework and study you will be fine. she uses the book for homework so get the book, and as a grader i got a B- and that was good since i got a D on the final.
Great Professor. I hate College Algebra, but she does teach well from an abstract point of view. I thought she was fun and introduced mathematics in an original way. She tells stories that allow your brain to relax when she has been lecturing for so long. Heavy workload in the summer. I def. could have done better.
She used an online class called OLI and we did all of our homework and quizzes on here. Everything was group orientated and even quizzes were in groups and you would receive the grade that others would get in you group. She would not lecture and we had to learn 90% of the material in our groups. She would blow a whistle to get the classes attention
Terrie was the best math teacher I've ever had. She makes things so easy to learn her methods of teaching are different from the usual lectures which makes the subject easier to grasp
Terrie was a strict yet fun professor. She seems to be seriously PASSIONATE about her subject and wants people to actually learn it. She was very willing to help/answer questions. Her tests were very fair, similar to homework and only on material covered. As long as you aren't sensitive, I would highly recommend Terrie.
Great Math 160 teacher. Highly recommended. Just cover your ears when she blows her whistle and do your work! Upside-down format, best math class I have ever taken. Felt lucky to have had her and this class format for learning Statistics! I don't love math, I felt I actually learned the material. She's a fair grader just do the work.
She is a great teacher. She gives you every chance to succeed in the class if you try, and if you are having trouble she will often hold study sessions on the weekends to help out her students. She will drop homework and exams, giving you the chance that if you have a bad day one of the days, you can make up for it doing well the rest of the time
The Teacher Barely kept my attention. she would wait till the VERY END to explain her way of doing things. the whistle was annoying, so i recommend earplugs prior to class. she was rude to her students and gave no leeway when it came to life. if you want a strict teacher, go for it. DO THE CHECKPOINTS! gave no info on worth of them!
Most of Mrs. Nichols ratings are valid. HOWEVER, he is an amazing professor you cannot help but love the lady. She can be the biggest brat she actually accused me of cheating on a final when I wasn't .This goes to show that no matter what I appreciate and love the woman. She is so smart and helpful and you will succeed and crack up in this class
This was a very easy class for me. She literally gave us three attempts for our at home exams, and even the final was three attempts (although the final is not at home). Our homework was too easy. However, she can be very moody. If you enroll in this class, make sure you're not sensitive.
Terrie is a difficult yet AWESOME professor. She loves math to the degree of obsession and her passion is apparent in everything she does. Terrie loves to teach and is good at it, but she is also all business and doesn't like people who are goofy, disrespectful or are not series about the class. She tries to help as much as possible. Hard tests.
Terrie is a great professor. Math is not my strong area at all, but I learned a lot in her class and found myself enjoying it! She goes out of her way to help you pass. She can get a little moody and take it out on her students. She kicked me and a few other students out during class. With that said, I would recommended her class to everyone!
Don't take this class unless u guarantee at least 60% in the final.Even if u did your best during the semester,u wont pass the class if u couldn't pass the final. The final is hard 14 questions,no enough time and if u mess up, that is the only chance u had. Overall if u can make it in the final u pass otherwise u fail. Also didn't cover all sections
If you don't like group projects, don't take this class. She assigns you into groups and then even if you do all the work and talk to her about it to try to be in your own group, she doesn't care. It's like she's encouraging cheating. And if you email her about an assignment or for help, she never responds like she said she would.
Lectures: good. Isn't clear on what will be on tests. Expect the unexpected. Prepare to work hard. Gives opportunities for extra credit, but sometimes won't follow through. I had 12 extra points for the final but she only gave me 5 because she said I had the most extra credit out of everyone so she didn't think it'd be fair. I could've gotten an A.
She is a great person, but as a teacher she sucks. I asked for her help through emails and in person many times and she never made the time to provide help. She grades toughly on any assignment and even writes mean comments. She honestly is one of the worst teachers I have ever had. She really does not provide detail on anything. Prepare to fail.
She is very good, if you listen and work for your grade. fAVORITE tEACHER EVER
She's a good teacher and I liked her group teaching style. I've taken her for math 96 and will be taking her for math 160. She's eccentric and blunt so if you have thin skin, pick a different teacher. All in all, she's fair, she's passionate, and she cares about all of her students. You'll both love and hate her, but you're guaranteed to learn.
Terrie is a great professor who wants you to succeed. There are not many tests but all tests are online primarily at home (3 tries per exam). Be aware she might switch textbooks and will most likely not finish the curriculum. Overall a great teacher who is there to help know the material but most of all how to properly use your calculator.
Tests are okay: half in class, half take home. Had an A+ in the class (over 98% on every exam.) Got a D on the final which dropped my grade to a B+. It was pretty terrible. First B in college. Final was insane. Practice final was 50 problems. Final was 14 problems in 2 hours; not doable for Diff EQs. Great lectures, but unorganized administration.
She makes mistakes during the lecture that make it harder to learn the subject. Good luck on the final, you will need it.
She is pretty funny and makes the subject bearable. All work is done in groups. There is about 10-15 minutes of short lecture in the beginning of class, then our small groups work it out together. Textbook is online, and essential for completing homework.
Terrie is an AMAZING teacher. She's HILARIOUS, she's blunt (but when it's appropriate), and she structures things in ways that make it easy to recognize which strategy to use depending on which DE. She is a very fair teacher, and she will be nice to you as long as you are serious about your work. I would take her again if I could.
Terrie is an amazing professor! She is funny and keeps topics interesting! She is not for the faint hearted,; she expects participation at all times. If you are afraid of taking Statistics, take her 96 class and than her 160 class! You will get it, I promise! Strugglles and challenges are glorious tools for learning! Well worth your time & effort!
I took Terri's class for 96 and 160. She is an amazing teacher. Her classes fly by because she makes it interesting. She will explain, and sometimes over explains everything. She will make sure you get it. You will laugh at her crazy ways, but you will learn!
Terrie is an awesome teacher, if you want to learn the material, you will. She is patient with teaching and will explain things step by step. She is also pretty funny and the class flies by. However, a crucial aspect of this class is attendance and participation. She's a fun person and an excellent teacher.
Terrie requires that you complete all homework assignments, including what you don't understand. If you show up to class with something blank, she will send you out of the class while she reviews it with the rest of the class - which doesn't help with that thing you didn't understand. That sums up her class pretty well.
Best instructor I have ever taken! She made content extremely clear and always went above and beyond to help her students. She would make us take extensive notes. Writing everything down made the content stick more. Yes, she does sent you out of the classroom to wait outside IF you have incomplete work which teaches you to take the class seriously!
To be completely honest I would avoid this professor at all costs. She tends to be very rude sometimes and goes off on students for minor things. Very cranky, and gives a lot of homework on paper and on canvas. She cares about her teaching, but she is very rude and it gets frustrating when she gets mad so easily. Get into different groups every day
I loved Terri. Funny lady. Class was great. I HATE MATH. Never was good at it. I GOT AN A IN HER CLASS. So yea, shes enjoyable to learn from. Do your homework and youll be good. Be in class so you know the material.
She changed her teaching method constantly throughout the course, relying too heavily on group work at the beginning of the course. By the end only 1/4 of the class remained to take the final.
Okay, first I want to say that Terrie is literally amazing. She does have these little moods she sometimes gets in when she is stressed out. It is important to come to class. Also, stay up on the modules and you will be fine. Be prepared for group work, it not that bad once you get into it. I would definitely recommend.
Terrie is a good teachermath 280 is hard but she gives hella extra credit which is good had A in class but after final became B- which i can't complaint was still acceptable but I know I did bad on final test .She is tough grader and pop quizes pop up sometimes but they are from hw. She wants people to pass but her final is tough
Do not, do not, do not take this teacher! Worst teacher ever! Even if you are great at math she is the worst.
I took the 8 week intersession online and it was VERY time consuming. I would spend 10+ hours working on the modules given each week. If you take this class, you have to be willing to put in the time or else you will not succeed in the discussion post/ labs etc. The content isn't difficult, but is a class about concepts rather than equations.
Too many assignments. Syllabus is not clear of due dates or points to determine minimum passing score. One due date had 17 things due!! The list of assignments is overwhelming considering other classes. This was the only 60/160 online choice. She acts like hers is your only class. Pass her if you can.
Professor Nichols is a very nice lady, and she genuinely cares about the success of her students, but her knowledge on the topics can be a bit shaky at times. Show up, do the homework, and participate in class and you should do fine. If the best professor is taken, then she is a good second choice for your professor.
She is truly too much, and just does not care about your grade, or overall success in the end. Just find a better teacher. Shes already at a 3.3 aka she is sketch.
Professor Terrie does not give As no way with her. She led to drop in my GPA from 4.0. She gives lots of broken promises, promises that won't happen just make you shut up. she skips chapters and gives lots of homework with no feedback at all. she does not explain and waist all the time. she does not care about me, your, math, college, or country.
Her class was extremely easy due to the amount of extra help, but she was a very terrible teacher. She shared too much of her personal life, and would always drag on lectures. Class felt like it lasted all day and it was almost never productive. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU WANT YOUR TEACHER TO YELL AT YOU AND ATTACK YOU CONSTANTLY!
Cared more about telling personal stories, and constantly got political in class. Never forgot to belittle a student, and also was constantly cursing in class and apparently found joy in also cursing at students because they needed help because she was useless. Incredibly rude, DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER. SHE IS AWFUL.
Every class she humiliates students. she skips most of the lectures saying you read it at home. She is expecting students to read the book and do the homework without her contribution. We are paying for this she can not be canceling math classes and giving zeros at the exams.
the class should not be hard but she is awful are teaching.
This was my first math class in over a year and a half. First, I thought the course was hard. The class was hard for the teacher because it was her first online class. If you do the HW on time and pass the test with a B pr Higher, you will pass the course. The teacher respects the student that show efforts in the class. I do recommend taking her.
She is very helpful and responds quickly. She is a fair grader, just do the work and you'll get a good grade. I took her 8 week Math 160 class. It was a lot of work everyday but I'm glad I did it especially having Ms. Nichols as a professor.
This was by far the most difficult to follow online class I've ever taken. The organization was bizarre and incomplete when the class started and the workload she expected was INSANE. She made it clear that 40 HOURS at least was how long we needed to complete the work every week. Used logic for answers on quizzes that had multiple tries. Avoid
This woman is definitely a different breed. You HAVE to come to class, you HAVE to buy the workbook, you HAVE to ask for help when you need it! Group projects like crazy, pop quizzes like crazy, homework is never ending! If you can avoid her, do so! If you can't, just try your best! I was very close to an A and I suck at math! Good luck!
This was one of my least favorite classes I've ever taken. Unclear expectations, numerous typos in her modules, ridiculously steep grading, and meticulous busy work (peer-reviews). Take other professors who fundamentally understand the online space and make their expectations clear. This class was fraught with frustration and confusion. Avoid.
This has been one of the most disgusting math courses I have taken ever. Terrie does not care about her students whatsoever, do not believe anything she says on her website. Her expectations are unclear, her endless assignments are tough, and she is a horrible grader. You will hate math after you take this course, take this class anywhere else.
Professor Nichols is the most condescending educator I have encountered in my entire academic career. She is does not know the difference between explaining and belittling. She is a hard grader and not very forgiving in more ways than one. If you need assistance on an assignment, you might be better off dropping the class than asking her for help.
Fall 2018 at Cuyamaca College Statistics (Math 160+60). I put in a "good faith effort" (have an unrealistic positive attitude about something we both knew was not my strong suit). I did my very best to pass. With her struggling at math is a choice and it's your fault. 2019, she refused to be a reference because I didn't put in a G.F effort.
This is the worst professor I've ever had. She does not respect your time as a student. You have an insane workload (60 modules/week) & you have to peer-review your classmates assignments + self evaluate...for math. She doesn't grade more than half of the work assigned & It also takes her months to grade. Class is easy, she made it difficult.
In most classes HW is supposed to help ur grade but in this one its the complete opposite. Almost every HW assignment has a mean grade of under 50%. Actually most things in this class have an extremely low mean score considering she grades as meticulously as possible. This is my 1st C in a math class in 4 yrs of college, save ur GPA & dont take her
She actually cares about her students success. I had a lot of personal matters this last semester and she was very understanding about it. I had fallen way behind, which caused me to fail the class. Warning; this is a very work heavy course. You will easily have about 20 assignments a week, (that doesn't include lectures).
Too many assignments with extremely confusing instructions on each one; submissions were a pain to take care of too.
Lots of work needs to be done for this class, it takes up most of your time having to finish homework and quizzes. The chapters are very long with lots of homework assignments and quizzes. You need to be on top of everything in order to be able to get a good grade in the class.
Really cares about student success
v good.
I really enjoyed taking Professor Nichols. I had her for Math 176 and Math 180. She assigns a lot of work, you have to do peer reviews and final submissions, however, this allows you to get mostly right answers as well as actually learn the material. I would only suggest taking her if you're really interested in learning and not just passing.
her canvas is so hard to navigate, there's pages of instructions for everything yet it's still so unclear what she expects. she is not understanding for extensions on assignments (even when I was in the hospital) and very passive agreessive in emails. class as a whole isn't bad in terms of material, but as a teacher I would not recommend at all.
She is the only teacher to have this course and isn't even clear about what she wants in homework and checkpoints in most cases. She hasn't graded a majority of stuff and when asked for an extension to which she agreed to (I was bedbound for a week throwing up constantly), she instead didn't give it to me and proceeded to give me 0's.
Maybe worst teacher of my life. Worst organized canvas page I've ever seen. I have a 3.9 gpa in CS, and this has been my most challenging to navigate and frustrating class ever. She fronts as nice and understanding but is anything but that. Prepare to spend more time figuring out how to fit her confusing and impossible instructions then learning.
The most difficult math class I've ever taken. The teacher sets tasks too much, which is why she did not have time to evaluate 15-25 tasks before the end of the semester. The teacher is good and helps students, but she urgently needs to consider her student education plan. And 17 students dropped this class during the class because of this!
If you are looking to take discrete mathematics, I would highly suggest skipping out on this professor. Tons of homework and when I mean a ton minimum of 8 assignments a week excluding quizzes and module checkpoints. If you are working a job you won't have time for this course.
Terrie is an okay teacher at best. Multiple cases of students complaining about preferential treatment and snide remarks. She failed people because Canvas can't load a picture for a final. She managed to make a 3-difficulty class a 5 because you don't get feedback until you've already tested, and she only gives YouTube videos to learn the material.
This professor does not provide any lectures she just provides youtube video links and practice questions. There is no textbook too so learning was incredibly difficult, even when you ask her for help she barely provides assistance. She is also an insanely strict grader, docking half the points on hw and test questions for even the smallest mistake
Do not take this professor if you can avoid it. Extremely disorganized and inconsistent, will use vagueness in her syllabus to make changes due to her loose wording. At the same time she will use her syllabus as if it were a legal contract. Extremely difficult grader, very rude and downright cold towards some students. TONS of workload.
Probably the worst professor I have ever had. This class was taken during the fall semester, she made it seem like the whole course was being completed in 4 weeks, with around 30/40 HW assignments per week plus peer reviews. The class is extremely unorganized and you will feel lost the first week of school.
While the coursework is manageable, this professor's disorganized teaching style and strict grading make the class quite challenging. Using resources like Unstuckstudy and staying on top of assignments is key to success.
If u hav a full time job, dont take her. Like everyone said that there's an endless amount of HW very disorganized as her set up on canvas is a maze and she doesn't bother helping u learn it.
Probably the worst professor I've ever had in math, her instructions are all over the place, gives out way too much homework in a short amount of time and overall expects way too much of first year college students. If you're looking for a helpful and informative math teacher for your first year of college, she isn't the one.
Worst teacher I've ever had who's directions are all over the place
Stay away from this professor unless you have time for unnecessary busywork. She makes students do peer reviews, which are useless and just add stress. I did well in the class, but only because I spent hours upon hours—totally not worth it. She's rude, has a terrible attitude, and is not understanding at all. She also doesn't listen to feedback.
