I like him, nice guy, helpfull. Some mistakes, but first time teaching here
Great professor. Makes class fun!!
Great Prof. Love the dry humour.
Definetely cared about students. Excellent notes (& downloadable), enjoyed class

I liked his class, he's a very approachable and helpful professor, and his notes make excellent references to study by
Kind of... slow. Really boring class too.
One of my favorite classes, enjoyed his humour, realy nice guy.
He is extremeley helpful and knoledgeable. Couple with good industrial experience and humor he makes the teaching easier. I wish I cud take many more courses under him.
His teaching methods were very effective, probably the best professor I've had yet, take his classes whenever possible, you'll definitely learn the material, and stay interested during class. Clear explanations, and very approachable.
Terry Andres is a good teacher for 74.214. for this class its basicaly just reading notes of powerpoint but hes a pretty good teacher. I would recommend taking him.
Notes were very clear and understandable, and having them downloadable was a definite plus. Answered questions on message board as well as my email quickly.
Explains material very well and has powerpoint notes available on the web.
Good prof.Super responsible to students and give us the best materials.
Excellent notes, good examples
Good guy! Knows his stuff, and uses a lot of examples.
Good prof! Uses a lot of examples that are on the assignments given. Listens to students, and respond promptly to e-mails!
Excellent professor, very helpful, always willing to listen. Very good explanations, quizzes were easy, and he always explained the assignments in detail. Overall awesome prof, wish he taught more classes
Great prof! He uses a lot of examples and makes sure we can understand everything before moving on. He responds to e-mails very quickly, too.
Very good prof, will go out of his way to help any of his students.
Good instructor! He explains the material in a way other instructors can't... very clear!
He's an awsome prof. Great notes that you can print right off the web. If you go to all the classes, especially around when assignments are due and take notes, you'll do really great. Easy A
Great computer teacher that I've ever seen i my life.
This guy spends the first 40 minutes of class rambling on about "computer related" topics and then covers the notes in the last 10, and he says we're behind. Gee, well i wonder why. I had trouble with a really poorly formatted assignment and he was totally rude to me when i asked him about it. He's such a jerk.
Awesome Prof!
not a bad class but the assignment take long and quizes are hard. He also makes the lectures so long and boring..an A if you work at it
Amazing prof, very helpful for those who attend class. Sent him many emails and he responded that day, very helpful for assignments and tries to use humor in the lessons...he does go over the notes but he doesn't read them (that's up to the student) instead he explains them by example. Assignments are long but that's part of the course, not him.
extreme;u bpring nd not helpful.
Computer Useless is the easiest class on campus. Quizzes are really easy, the assignments are annoying and long, but makeup 40% of the grade so its worth it. This prof is a bit of a social retard but it really nice and give huge hints for the assignments if you go to class. He does a lot of demos instead of following the notes,
If you need to take this class, or want some help with your GPA, take the class with Andres. He does all the steps in the assignments in class, tells you what is on the tests and the exam. If you don't get an A in this class, university isn't the place for you. And, you should go pick up a application at McDonalds.
Great class. Great prof. He went above and beyond what was needed. Teaches good OO. Can be dry at times, but it's the subject not him. Assignments were fun and not as big as 74.215. :)
VERY easy class, good prog though, knows his stuff. wish i could have him as a prof for more computer science courses though. Take this course wether you want to learn or you already know it cause it will boost your GPA, with this prof you should atleast come out with an A or B+
he's boring and reminds me of a robot
Great Prof. He'll tell you exactly how to do the assignments if you attend classes. 5 assignments (20%), 4 quizzes (10%), midterm (30%), & final (40%). Just buy the class notes and study from it for all the tests. No need to buy the text book. One of the easiest course.
Amazingly helpful. I tried to take as many classes he got to offer. I had a bad experience in my first year with someone else and thought I might just sux at comp sci. But taking his class makes me feel I am not just a thing but a person. I am sure no one regret taking his courses...except for those who didn't attend much I suppose
Great teacher. He showed us step by step what to do on the assignments. It was a boring class because of how simple the topic was, but his teaching style was good.
Awesome prof!! Good sense of humor and extremely friendly and nice! He talks about assignments step by step in lectures!=D very helpful.
Good Prof I Guess but the course is absolutely brutal... If you go to lectures he will show you exactly what you need to do on the assignments to get 100%. Not much more to ask...
Very helpful outside the class. Ready to answer questions and very down to earth. Assignments aren't difficult as long as you understand the material. He should be teaching more 2nd year courses!
Good professor, very helpful and friendly. Class is also pretty easy. Definitely recommend him!
Terry is a pretty good instructor. He's really organized, polite, and helpful. If you have any questions, he'll email you back right away. Lectures can be a bit boring, but that could be the subject matter. He seems to really care if students understand and want them to succeed.
Terry Andres is an excellent prof. He encourages students to speak up in class and explains the course material in such a way that it seems easy. He is very approachable and helpful outside of class and it is artially due to him that I've decided to persue a CompSci degree.
Just follow him step by step then you can finish your assignments.
GREAT! teacher. One of the best and easiest I've encountered. Gto his classes especially when he's doing the assignment (he practically does it) and remember, do it on ur laptop, or write it down step-by-step and you'll do fine with all the assignments. It can be boring because you're just sitting there but definitely work the A+!
Lectures were at times unbearable, but not prof's fault the material is boring. He will walk you through the assignments step by step. Go home after each lecture and spend 45 minutes doing what he accomplished during class that day and you will get an A+ on your assignments. Exam was beyond easy, nearly identical to practise exam.
An alright prof. Other professors teaching this course go through assignments MUCH more thoroughly then Andres. I stopped going to his class and instead sat in on another prof's lectures and did much better in the course than I would have if I had kept going to listen to Andres. The final is identical to the practice exam!
This prof is terribly boring. I could not for the life me of stay awake during his lectures. The course is boring in general, but I think he made it 10x worse.
Don't take this class with him! Terrible prof. It's painful sitting throug his lectures.
Knows his stuff and takes a KISS approach the material. Doesn't bog the information down with BS
Didn't go to class very much, but when I did Terry was definitely informative and would do the assignments in class between lecturing on notes. If you e-mail him with any problems he responds fairly quickly. Decent prof.
Very fun course, skimmed over quite a few very interesting topics. The course is challenging and wrapping your mind around some of the assignments can be rather difficult. Seems approachable enough, though.
Excellent Professor! He is very clear and goes through step by step what you need to do to complete assignments. Very friendly and approachable. Attend classes and you will do very well in this class.
Terry is very nice and helpful both in and out of class. I'm glad I took this course with him, I did much better than expected. Highly recommended.
He has hard assignment, and have to attend all of class to answer question to got partification mark, but his test is easy if you really understand his course, and he give lots of chance to help student to improve score, but his leture is boring, anyway nice prof is you go with his way.
Boring but very helpful. Takes interest in students, questions, and is fair in marking. Easy midterm but hard assignments. His notes are incomprehensible if you don't go to class and his examples though clear are not enough. And he never posts notes on time. In all a really good but boring prof.
Terry is the best instructor I had the privilege to learn from. Insider knowledge of learning opportunities within the Computer Science department, and vast knowledge about software development and CS topics make him the go-to person for any question a student majoring in Computer Science at the University of Manitoba. Don't miss out.
Great professor, very knowledgeable, very personable and very approachable. Would recommend and go out of my way to take a class of his again
Dry, slow class but if you do the assignments while in class and skim the textbook will do well.
Terry is an ok professor. He teaches very well but beware of his exams, they are unusually hard. His midterm class average was 52%, which is way too low for this course.
Terry is one of the best teachers I've had. He's very patient and helpful outside of class if you have questions or problems with any course material including homework. His exams are a bit on the tough side, but if you know your material you will do fine. I would highly recommend taking any course with this guy if you're looking to actually learn!
Go to class! He goes step by step through the entire assignments! copy down everything he says and you'll get 100% on all homework. quizzes and tests are the hard part of this class, study both his notes and the textbook and you should be okay for them though.
Very helpful in and out of class, lectures were often dull but useful to show up to.
Enjoyed this class. Great professor who wants to help you understand the material
Great professor
Classes were boring, but the material was quite dry. He was very fair and gave students lots of opportunities to make up for lost marks. Has a genuine interest in wanting students to learn. I'd consider having him again as long as the subject isn't boring as hell
Extremely boring during some lectures.
Very awesome prof that genuinely wants student to learn and do well in his class. Lecture could be dry but he always does a good job explaining the concepts.
ASSIGNMENTS SUCKS!!
This class was extremely boring (not the fault of the professor). Class was not mandatory, however for the excel assignment, I recommende you to take your laptop to class & follow step by step. Material was overall easy, & marking was fair. Make sure you study for tests & exams. Terry really had an interest in his students & wants you to do well.
Really good prof who wants students to earn. I disagree with comment below about the Assignments, they are definitely worth the time. Without doing the assignments you won't fully grasp concepts. Helps out of class when not understanding something.
If you have never taken a comp sci class before, he can be very hard to follow and he does not explain everything that you are supposed to learn. The TA in lab often had to make up for the lack of instructions. Lectures were dry and filled with a ton of tangents. There was a serious lack of in class examples.
Speaks clearly and knows his sht. Encourages student to ask questions; and answers them thoroughly.
Great teacher, explains very clearly. Covers the assignments in details.
Not having any experience in computer science I was worried and I defiantly had to work hard to do well but Terry was willing to help and he wanted us to do well. There was an assignment every week most taking at least 7 hours of work so defiantly a lot of take home but after being done the course, I find it interesting.
It's a course in which you have to work hard and put a lot of time for the assignments. He's a decent prof overall when it comes to teaching the material. He's a very cut and dry individual, so don't bother going to him about missed assignments or whatever. He will not sympathize with you.
Pretty good prof. Teaches you enough so that you can figure out the rest on your own. Definitely attend class, he gives small chunks of code randomly (often at the start of class) that helps big time with the huge assignments.
Terry is a nice prof, and an easy marker. However, his lectures are extremely boring (Especially for a Tues-Thurs slot) and the notes weren't exactly helpful either. Expect to learn a lot of the material on your own. Also, the assignments are very long and time consuming. Start 2 weeks in advance or you'll struggle to finish.
Extremely boring lectures where at least 5 students are sleeping in. Textbook is a waste of money. The assignments are very tough and time consuming. It's hard to figure out what's important or what's not in his lectures. He is very accessible outside class.
Terry is a great prof. I had him for the W 2016 semester. He explains concepts clearly and is very accessible outside of class. The assignments are time consuming but well worth the effort. His assignments and lectures give you a good idea of what computer science is all about. This course encouraged me to take further comp sci courses.
