He has been a good teacher overall. I would recommend him to anyone who needs to take their last english elective. He is a nice guy who will definitely help you out if you need him to.
He is great guy and his class is fun and easy.
Great teacher, very helpful, you must do the reading however or you will not pass.
Very nice and helpful. Some of his assignments like leading class disscusions are pointless. But pretty easy class.
Class is super easy he grades essays kind of hard but the other easy assignments makes up for it. Leading class discusions is easy and everyone made a good grade if you showed up. Not much work at all mostly descussions and some reading.
Great teacher, he does grade fairly. It is of the utmost importance to be in class on time and not absent. He likes to have your attention, so if texting or surfing the web is your thing, you will not do well. I would recommend him to anyone and wish I could have him as my teacher again!
Inspired me to truly enjoy and appreciate literature. I had always enjoyed reading and learning about new literature, but the discussions in the class and the writing skills I've learned have helped immensely in creating my new appreciation and increased love of literature. One of the greatest teachers I have had the pleasure of having in my life.
Good teacher overall. I learned a lot in his class. Easy on the eyes too.
Very good
It was a discussion based class, and I have to say, that's the best way to teach literature. It was awesome to feel that my opinion and insight was valued. All of the readings were very interesting. Hardest part was the essays, but he's so darn helpful, the essays were even borderline fun.
If you like to read and have discussions he's for you!! Almost feel like I'm in a book club :) You have to write around 4 essays..but there interesting!! Can't wait to take him 1102.
Loved, loved this class!! Easy and enjoyable...You must like reading!!
LOVED HIM! He is a great teacher. take his class.
took him for both 1101 and 1102. great teacher who is always willing to help out in any way necessary. you read a book or two per class, but they all seemed interesting once he would dive into explaining it. also extremely helpful when proofing and grading papers, and im far from an english major. definitely recommend him for any english classes!
Make sure you attend his class!
He is an excellent professor. Very engaging. I had him for honors literature and the class was discussion-based but I don't know how his regular classes are. If you're going to take a literature class, I would recommend him. Very helpful and fun.
Took his honors class. Do the reading. Also, watched several movies in class which were interesting and generated a lot of class discussion. He is open to and respectful of students opinions. You will have to write 5 essays for the class. He is very fair. I enjoyed the class.
Focuses on MLA format for your essay's. Get the Rules for Writers book he suggests. Fun, discussion based class, touches on serious social issue's, learned a lot overall. Really helps you to get your writing in shape & gives you great feedback to improve your writing. Definitely take him if you get the chance!
Great professor. He renewed my passion for writing and helped me become a better reader. He's fair and always willing to help. Loved this class!
LOVED this teacher!!! His class is discussion based and he welcomes all input and opinions. Gave great feedback on all essays. Uses various methods to get participation from students who would normally not participate in discussion. Highly enjoyed discussion leader days. GREAT TEACHER!! Wish I could take him for another class. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
GREAAAAT English teacher. Very helpful and relaxed on his policies. His discussionsare good, but sometimes can get boring. VERYY recommended!
This is a discussion based class all from your textbook. Professor Easton is extremely helpful when you show up for class. He goes over rough drafts and you will get an easy A on all papers if you do this. There's a total of 5 papers-easy topics. He gives you 7 absences until he counts of participation grade. Funny guy! I highly recommend for 1101.
Dr. Easton has been the best English professor I have had thus far in my academic career. He has taken my writing and love for literature to new levels that I previously thought were unattainable. His classes are discussion-based, mostly centering on social issues. In my opinion, he is a must-take professor for GSC. If you want to learn, take him.
I had Professor Easton last semester and he's a pretty laid back guy. There's definitely a lot of class discussions but it's not too bad. The only thing you have to worry about is attendance. I went from a B to a C because I had more than 7 absences. But other than that he's a great teacher. I'd take him again~
Easton is a really laid back guy (unless you are playing on your cell phone). Not too easy, he is very picky about MLA format, but I got good grades in 1101 and 1102 and I never thought I was good at writing.
Easton is cool and funny guy and his class is not to hard, but he requires you to read everyday. His essays weren't hard and he is not too strict on grading. He LOVES to discuss things as a class.
Professor Easton was a good professor. He was always willing to answer questions and offered a lot of help on the essays. He likes the class to participate during discussions and if you don't your grade will greatly reflect that. He grades his essays pretty strict, but gives a lot of feedback so that you can make your next essay better.
Professor Easton is a very funny and intelligent teacher. The work isn't terribly hard, but it is an english class, so expect a lot of writing. He is willing to help and made the class interesting.
Amazing professor! You will have to read and participate in class. You will have an average of 5-6 essays to handle (with flexible and great options)and you will love it!!!! There are NO tests!!! His class is fun, full of great info and he realy care for his students. If you need help, he is always available. His class gives you an honors treatment.
I was not thrilled about having to take another English class, but Professor Easton made this class enjoyable. He is very helpful and even lets you bring your essays to him early for extra help. As long as you attend class and put some work into your essays you will do good.
He is a great English teacher, he is very clear of what he expects out of you. Read all the assignments and turn your essays in on time and attend the class and you will do fine. Your essays are no more than pages but their many, but he is just trying to get you to improve your writing he is very helpful.
Impossible to fail the class. Go to class and care just a little bit and you will get an A. Was extremely fun and I always looked forward to it. The materials that were covered were interesting most of the time. Great teacher. Goes out of his way to ensure your success.
Hes one of the better profs ive had, however hes slightly disorganized, but super passionate about his teaching...id definitely recommend him, his class isnt very hard he just likes alot of participation
He's an interesting teacher that's in it to help you. He's funny and really approachable. He'll help you if you need it!
He has many duties on campus, but he always takes time to help students and respond to emails promptly.
Fantastic Professor! I took both ha 1101 and 1102 classes and loved them both. He has a very good sense of humor and tries to be politically respectful. His discussion leader "project" is fun assuming you have a good partner. I really wish I had a teacher like him in high school, I believe if high school teachers taught like him, there will far less writing problems. He grades hard and you read a lot but the comments on your essays are really helpful.
Clear on what he expects for his papers. He is a tough grader, so be prepared. The readings are a lot but easy to get through. Stay on top of them.
He's an awesome Proffesor and his class was very interesting. He will help you if you need it and although he is a tough grader, his grades are fair and accurate. However, I had a rough semester and missed a lot more classes then i find comfortable which heavily affected my final grade. BE SURE TO ATTEND HIS CLASS!
He is by far the best English teach I have ever had. It is a discussion based class so be prepared to talk to class mates, but those discussion are very interesting. He kinda grades the papers hard, but he just wants you to do your best and he gives you back great feedback.
Grades SUPER hard on papers. A lot of reading in the class but it's typically thought provoking . But you're going to need to work really hard on your papers.
I found the content and style of his teaching to be quite interesting. He is very willing to help you on essays. He does do pop quizzes, but if you did the reading you'll do fine (they are really easy if you read the book) No tests, but you do have to write a 2-4 page essay once a month or so.
I had this professor for both 1101 and 1102. He is an amazing teacher and would recommend him to anyone. The only thing I didn't like about him was that he was sometimes rude when no one participated. It is a discussion based class so if you don't like to talk or lead class discussion then maybe you should try someone else. But overall nice guy!
You will definitely read from the textbook a lot in this class, the readings are extremely easy though. Be prepared for pop quizzes over the readings assigned for that night before. No test or exams, just essays you have to turn in.
He's a dynamic speaker & is very passionate about his work & your participation in the class. He teaches you from the basics, so you have it engrained in your notes & head for what to do & what not to do on papers. You write a lot but they are simple & he teaches out of a book that is easy reading. Ask for help and he gives you more than needed.
Tries to promote class participation but makes fun of outspoken politically conservative students which usually silences everybody. He is VERY strict on MLA formating with papers, especially works cited. Generally average on everything else though. Dissorganized and often extends essay due dates because he hasn't graded the last ones yet.
He's a great professor and has some interesting lectures. He also shows movies and pushes back essay due dates. Overall, cool guy. However, he tends to push his socialist ideology and views into all class seminars. He's passive-aggressive towards right wing ideas and answers. Just beware of that.
Prof. Easton gives a lot of reading to students and expect them to know the material by the next class because he gives pop quizzes on the reading out of nowhere. He gives a lot of papers to do but no specific due date unless he needs to grade them on time, if not then he pushes the due date back. He has a very strong political and social view.
At first I wasnt crazy about him, but I left the class really grateful that I took him. If you pay attention and do your reading you will do fine in the class. Im really young to be in college and I got an A in the class.
He's always very clear on what he wants in his papers, grades a little harder as the semester goes on because he expects you to slowly get it. Very helpful if you ask. Lectures and discussions are always interesting.
He is a great guy and an even better professor. He is a very approachable person and engages the class in interesting discussions! He explains everything that you have to do slowly and makes sure everyone understands it before moving on. He's an easy grader and great English professor!
Dr. Easton was very helpful and very kind! A lot of interesting reading and very well organized! Really good teacher!
Learned so much in his class. AMAZING and super nice professor, very passionate about his teaching. Pop quizzes so make sure to read. NO test. 2 essays and 1 take home final. He loves students who participate in class. 1 discussion leader grade. One of the best Eng class, and I assure you will enjoy his class! I would take him again in a heart beat
Professor Easton has been one of my all time favorite professors. Make sure you do the reading every night because there is group discussion (participation is graded) and he does have occasional pop quizzes. He does NOT push his political views on his students, however he does occasionally share his opinion, which I found very refreshing. 4 Essays
Very boring class, all we did was read and discuss the reading then wrote a paper on it
I took Easton for 1101 & 1102 and made A's both times. He is always glad to help outside class and gives clear instructions. Just do what he says and read before class and this class will be an easy A. Although, he is a stickler with phones so try to stay off social media in his class.
Mr. Easton was great. He helped broaden my horizon in cultural differences without forcing his opinion down my throat. If you read the book, edit your papers, and engage your brain during class, then it should be an easy A. I would definitely take him again. He is always upbeat and willing to help in any way possible.
Dr. Easton was amazing! I love him and his class! He made lectures interesting and always had great discussion. There is a lot of reading but most of the stories are very interesting. He is very fair with his grading and wants you to do your best. I loved his class!
Dr. Easton is SO funny, and so sweet. You can tell that he really loves his job. If anyone is thinking about taking Easton DO IT. You won't regret it. The ONLY thing I didn't like about this class was book number 2, Grapes of Wrath. Eh, such a snooze. If you're reading your reviews Dr. Easton, DROP Grapes of Wrath!! lol.
The best teacher Ive had in college so far and definitely will remember the rest of my life
He is so sweet and funny!!! If you keep up with the reading its an easy A. I would absolutely take his classes again.
Dr. Easton is slightly quirky but clearly loves his job and respects his students. He gives pop quizzes over the reading but their very easy if you have read the assignments (which are easy and entertaining). He is a fair grader and gives good feedback on papers.
Prof. Easton is a great teacher to have. 2601 has 2 persuasive essays, discussion leader, pop quizzes and a final exam. That is literally it. The class is essentially a book club where you discuss out of the textbook (mandatory) and learn about the working class. Participation is huge so be ready to talk. All around easy and fun class though.
He is a tough grader ! and his class is discussion heavy so if you don't participate in the discussion there goes 20% of your grade and if you miss 6 days plus 10% gone. he was also weird. but overall a hard grader no one could get over an 80 on their essays. Half my class failed.
I took this class for English 1101 and it wasn't difficult at all. There were 4 essays and he usually pushes them back if he doesn't have the previous essay graded and handed back. There's a lot of group discussions about the book and everyone has to be a discussion leader once. There's a few pop quizzes on the reading which are very easy
I took him for 1102 and again for lit and film. 2150 is a LOT of reading, and if you don't read you'll fail. Read 3 books, two essays (1 is the final), reading quizzes, and discussion leader. This is a discussion based class, so if you're not a talker don't take him. Overall pretty easy if you do your reading and attend class!
Professor Easton is a smart man, and he teaches well. The issues I have with him are his exceedingly strict guidelines/policies. He does not differentiate between excused absences or unexcused absences, as he states in the syllabus. I had the flu, and was out 5 days due to a flu outbreak in GA. I was withdrawn from class, and I had a doctor's note.
He seems like an amazing professor at first. He did say some questionable things involving race and class. He grades extremely hard. If you're not a perfect writer in his opinion, make sure to meet with him so he can revise your essay. He tells you exactly what you should add and remove. He also cares a lot about word usage.
I'm typically quiet and shy when it comes to discussion, but I loved taking Easton's class. The discussions are very interesting and fun to talk about. He is a tough grader when it comes to essays, but he gives very good feedback. Easton is funny and a little strange, but it helped keep class interesting
Dr. Easton is the best teacher I have ever had. He is always willing to work with you on your essays and gives excellent feedback. This class got us to think and explore some controversial topics on a deeper level.
I thought he was a nice guy at first... the class is extremely political and turns out if you dont share his opinions, he will try and get you out of his class. Also didnt appreciate seeing real pictures of people that were lynched in a documentary he showed in class... very disturbing and gave the students no warning. NEVER take his class.
He gives amazing responses on essays and listens to everything the students say during discussions. Very nice, does get into some touchy and uncomfortable topics but over all as long as you read the book and come to class you'll get an A.
He was a very strange professor. Only gave 4 papers but is a tough grader on them.
He is a really tough grader. Every essay I receive, it's either a C or D. dont take this class if you are going to pass with an easy A
If you want to pass or get an A on your essay, you NEED to go to him during his office hours to revise it together. You're bound to jump a few points if you listen to his criticisms. Don't be cocky in this class. I don't necessarily think he's the greatest instructor ever, but he forces you to be a strong, independent writer to pass which is great.
Four papers to write all about clear topics you get to pick. He's a tough grader and gives you the grade he thinks you deserve. He is really strict on participation, its best to always read so you can discuss in class the next day. He grades you on attendance and participation too. He's really nice to you and works with you if you do the work.
He is super nice if you get on his good side, so try to make a good first impression. He will tell you what you need to do for your essays, but he is a fairly tough grader. Make sure you participate during the discussions and turn in your essays on time and this class should be a breeze.
Great professor. He wants you to do well. Lots of reading, and you must read or wont pass the pop quizzes. Theyre super easy if you do the reading. Requires you to think critically and doesnt discredit any thoughts you may have regarding your analysis of the readings. He was awesome.
Dr. Easton is very passionate about literature. He is kind, but seems to hold on to first impressions (which is good for most students). I enjoyed going to his class. He gives pop quizes, but they are strictly reading comprehension. Read the assigned reading and have something thoughtful to say and you will do well in this class.
Professor Easton is a great guy but he is tough. His classes consist of group discussions, the more you talk the higher your grade will be, so don't be afraid to talk. You have to be the discussion leader at one point in the semester. His feedback on essays is wonderful, so make sure to visit his office. It's a tough class but you learn a lot.
I took this class for online literature/film. He gives very good feedback on essays and compliments students who do well on discussion posts. He even provides commentary on students' responses. Also, if you send him part of your essay, he will help with it. He does make you work hard for an A, giving lots of assignments. Overall would recommend him
One of the best teachers I have ever had! Truly cares about students. Excellent feedback. Very intelligent and funny. Online class was great! He was great about answering questions and was accessible to students. The only thing was he gave 2 essays and then a written "essay like" final immediately after, so lots and lots of writing.
Truthfully one of the most genuine people Ive met. He was kind, caring, and intelligent. There are about 4 essays they can be lengthy, but the topics are insanely interesting. I did not find it difficult to fill the 4-6 pages. Discussions were extremely helpful since it allowed me to find quotes and construct me essays easily.
Professor Easton is amazing. I would definitely recommend him for Eng1101 and 1102. There is 3 essays and they are pretty easy to write about. The class consists of reading each week, writing very few discussion posts, and possibly a quiz that is super easy if you read. The reading can be lengthy, but it's not bad.
Very amazing professor. Always uplifted students work and provided constructive criticism when needed without belittling students. Very interesting material that will inspire you. He does make you work for your grade but it's worth it. I would take again for sure. Don't be afraid to reach out for help.
I have never been so offended by a professor and his unprofessionalism. He left a brutal three minute voice message about how my paper was absolutely terrible and repeated how awful it was without offering any suggestions or connecting it to the rubric. I know he does not owe me a certain grade, but he was so rude and disrespectful about it.
Prof. Easton is EXTREMELY picky. Your essays have to be written in the exact, to-the-point way that he wants, or he will fail you. English is one of my strong suits, yet he had made this the single hardest class at UNG in 5 semesters for me. He is very nice, and reachable outside of class, but my 1102 professor was WAYYY easier. MUCH easier.
Gives free 100's for a quiz if he messes up. Hardass in the beginning but after the W deadline he turns into a G.
Very good teacher, try not to skip or miss his classes however as it is a major part in grading. Only three essays so make sure you know or get help before you turn in. Nice and helps you as long as youre engaging and participating in class
3 Papers, all important, sign up to meet one on one with him so he can help you with your essays. Before the W deadline he's a bit mean, but afterwards a big homie. Taking him again for 1102 can't wait :^)
Got into a car accident on the way to his class one day, and when I emailed him 15 minutes after it happened (with pictures for proof), he said it wasn't excusable. Attendance is everything in this class so be ready for that. Overall the class was just boring altogether and the man has no compassion. Super boring and crappy altogether.
Horrible professor. It's not his class that is hard it's him. He's a horrible person he is rude and doesn't care if he embarrasses you. If you are shy or have some sort of anxiety don't take him he will try to make you talk even if he knows you don't want to. He will embarrass you and won't care. Nice the first day but he is hell.
Class is over Mexican Migration, 3 essays are over it and some books you read. Can be lots of reading before class. Some pop-up quizzes. He wants you to do good, gives back your essays to show clearly what was good and what to work on.His class is engaging and he will call on people but he does not force you to talk if you're not comfortable doing so.
He was nice. He was snarky he did have smart comments to say almost rude. The quizzes were easy right out of the readings. He was hard on grading the essays no room for mistakes type of thing.
He makes to do 3 essays in the semester but he's incredible, kind and friendly. He wants you to do better and is happy when he sees your improvement and even me as a foreigner person made really good grades with him doing the essays with his help obviously, he's accessible out of the class and literally had 2 hours with him reviewing my essays.
Overall he is a good professor however he does not use a rubric to grade so it's an overall grade. Also he really likes participation.
Professor Easton always wants you to attend class to do your best. There is 3 essays to do and lots of pop up quizzes that come from daily readings so make sure you do them!
He is a good teacher, but he is very scatter brained and biased on the books he makes you read. There is an essay for each book and he runs it through a plagiarism checker. Also pop quizzes about every other class and it's all about the reading from the night before. He is a hard grader and doesn't explain why you did not do so well on your essay.
3 Essays for each 3 books. Pop quizzes for the book, between 25-45 pages of reading between days. Attendance and participation matters.
A very nice teacher, great at discussions in class. Textbook costs about $80-120 (Amazon-Bookstore) but recommend buying it to mark up and make the essays easier. Recommend emailing him outside of class about essays as it will help you get a better grade. Pretty chill, just no phones (although you can step out if needed), heavy on discussion!!!
Easton is a great professor, and his class is very interesting. the book is mandatory, but it is worth it because the readings are great. if you are the type of student that miss class and wants easy work, this is not the class for you. there are pop quizzes for the readings, but it is an easy 100. if you participate in his class, you will enjoy it
Easton is fair but he can be a stickler. He shares his personal opinions often, bordering silliness. Lots of reading. Not for the shy or socially awkward. Students are expected to be "discussion leaders" for part of the class- I'm not into this because i'm not paying tuition to hear what my classmates think, especially with mandatory attendance.
The hardest essay grader I have ever seen. I'd get my essay reviewed by other professors and I was told it was excellent just to be given a 70 by Mr. Easton. The "participation grade" for 10% of your grade was just if he liked you. I received a 70% on it, only missed 2 days for a funeral, and participated all semester. Do not take this guy.
Easton is a ncie guy who cares about the work that he does and what he teaches. The mandatory textbook used throughout the entire course goes over working-class americans and short stories/poems/songs/etc about them. Everyone is expected to do a reading from the book each night, and then discuss on it during class. Actively talking is integral.
His grading is the most confusing thing in the world. Very harsh on essays. Gives regular pop quizzes. Dont think that if you had a pop quiz you wont have one the next day. Funny and engaging but w/ the way he grades, if youre a below average writer, i wouldnt recommend him. Overall he is nice but just confusing sometimes.
Easton's ENG1101 class is engaging, with interesting readings and discussions. Attendance is a must, but the pop quizzes are straightforward if you keep up with the work. Unstuck study was a helpful study tool alongside the class materials.
Easton is a pretty good professor but get ready to discuss everything. You know those teachers who are like, "Okay class but let's dig deeper." Well, all he did was that even when the whole class couldn't find anything to say about the text (eventually he'll step in) If you're good at class discussion and conversations, then you'll be fine.
RUN WHILE YOU STILL CAN RUN RUN PLEASE GET OUT RUN AWAY
Class lacks critical thinking. Can come off as preachy, and the way essays are graded is somewhat arbitrary. Beware: There will most likely be a required book for the semester.
You will need to purchase a book that is required for the class that is around $120, he is a very harsh critic/grader especially on essay's. I do not recommend.
Had to withdrawal from his class after he failed one of my papers because he didn't see the same energy I had in class in my submitted assignment. I asked him if he had plans on grading my work based off the rubric, or if I would pass his class to begin with. His answer was no. Does not believe in technology. Grades very harshly.
He was really hard, ngl, and this is coming from a straight A student. He is a tough grader. first essay, almost everyone failed. Pop quizzes are very common, but they are straightforward if you read the textbook. You can't get the textbook online, everything needs to be on paper. SO STRICT ON NO ELECTRONICS. run. don't do this to yourself.
Professor Terry is a very good and funny teacher but He's a very tough grader. Pop quizes are common, no electronics allowed. You have to read the text from home that will help you in quizes, for essays: complete your essay before due date and you can go to him at his office hrs. He will help you. I got B cuz I never read from home. He is not Bad
I did decent in his class, he's a funny guy but just know there will be 10+ five question pop quizzes that can and will bring down your grade. Purchased textbook is required ($100). Three essays throughout semester with adequate time to do them all
don't do it. its hard as crap. demanding. anxiety walking into the class. everything is a point off. save yourself.
You'll write three essays and have around 10 five question pop quizzes over 3-10 page sections of readings that you are to do the day before class (it's usually like 5 pages average). Answer his questions and you'll stand out, not everyone does. Funny guy, I would take the course again. No final—essay three is the last grade.
This professor graded me like i cracked his wife. I failed with a 53.5% because of confusing grading rules. He gives random pop quizzes, and if you haven't read the book let alone even have the book or these boring books you cant remember small little details like about the authors neck length. You will fail, there isn't enough balance in grading.
If you want an A in the class make sure you make high A's on every assignment. I made a 67 on the first essay, reached out to him went to his office hours, he was very helpful outside of class made a 98 and 95 on the last two essays and A's on other assignments and my final grade was an 89. yup an 89. other than the fact he robbed me he was nice.
