Nice, helpful and boring(well, it is calc.)
very helpful and understanding
Great teacher helpful too. Get her for sure.
Mrs. Fleck is awesome,i would definately suggest her. shes very helpful and explains things really well. shes always available for help and even gives extra credit for some things!
She will fail you in a heartbeat.
Her concern for you is fake, she could really care less. She gets paid no matter how well you do. If you're good in math already, go for it, otherwise, prepare to suffer. What a witch -w +b
Pretty interesting class for a math course. Mrs. Fleck will go out of her way to help you.
really went out of her way to explain everything... great with office hours... do your work and go to class and you can make an A or B
She doesn't always teach you what you need to know. Some of her points do not come across well but overall she is an ok teacher. I wouldn't discourage anybody from taking her class.
She doesn't explain anything well. If you want to do well you can, you just have to have someone else to explain it to you.
She is an awesome teacher! Very supportive and caring of her students. Will go out of her way to explain things and help you. People who don't rate her well probably didn't try. She'll help those who display intererst! Can't wait to take her for trig!
I don't think she puts in any effort to help you and could care less, she seems very fake and will definately fail you in a hot minute.. be prepared to learn nothing. she goes way to fast for the amount of work there is.
This was the intensive course (4 days a week.) She will help you and let you take exams in the math office if you need it. She's thorough in class and answers questions. You MUST attend class if you want to pass! Be honest with her if you have trouble.
Moves really fast, you have to translate her with the textbook. A lot of studing.
Her class was real easy to follow! If you go to class and do the homework you will have no problem. Her quizzes and tests weren't hard at all. Take her, because she is a wonderful teacher and will answers all your questions.
She moves so fast you just want to go to sleep. If you have a stupid kid in your class expect to be bored the entire semester.
She teaches at a fast pace...if you are a slow learner the math lab is your best friend! You have to really study to pass this class.
Not the easiest class, but Fleck tries to make it easy and helps you to understand it. Very nice teacher, and is always there to lend a helping hand
Very good teacher. I'm absolutely horrible at math but right now I have an A in her class. Take notes & do your hw & study & you shoudln't have a problem. She really tries to help you understand & will help you as much as she can as long as you try. Sometimes tough but a great teacher.
Very clear and always willing to help me outside of class, hate math but it wasnt to bad
Very helpful... She tries to make it easy on you. Alot of quizes and online homework, but it really helps in the end. If you just stay on top of things you shouldnt have a problem.
Horrible!! Teaches so Fast and thinks everything is common knowledge. You always get distracted by the black marker on her forehead. Loves suck ups...Dont take.
Very straightforward, organized, and clear. You really have to keep on top of the homework and weekly quizzes or it gets tough, but if you do you'll be fine. Gives a lot of easy grades like online homework. Very willing to help and makes sure you understand everything.
I failed. Basically because im already horrible at math and she moves WAY too fast for anyone who its a natural at it. If you have to take her, I recommend taking tutoring on top of it. Stay on top of homework and use the math lab.
She gives really hard problems. She also moves fast but if you ask a question she tries to make sure you understand the answer. She expects you to know all of your algebraic skills though. Good teacher but one of the harder ones in the Calculus department.
The only homework that she grades are online every week, due by midnight on every Sunday. She moves kind of fast and doesnt go over the hw problems unless someone asks. The tests can be hard, especially if you're not already good at math. She will help you after class if you ask her
This is one of those classes that after the first week or two you know if your gonna wanna come back or just drop it. You will sink fast if you dont keep up with the work. She will help you if you ask, and if there is time, other than that she knows what she is doing. The pace is fast.
The best math teacher I have ever had. She can go fast, but she is always willing to help. She offers plenty of office hours, and outside help (math lab, study sessions and student teachers). If you have trouble in math I reccomend taking her. AMAZING!
She is a great teacher, she can move a little fast, but if she will always slow down to answer questions and is available for help alot. Any MAT111 class is going to be fast paced, but she teaches the material well. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED IF YOU'RE NOT GOOD AT MATH!!!
Very good teacher. She makes the subject easy and makes class fun. She likes the students to be involved so plan on working really hard in class and be prepared to answer questions. Do the suggested homework problems after each section and you should be fine!
Fleck is seriously one of the best teachers I've ever had. I took her for 111 and 151 and she has this thing for teaching. I always hated math because I couldn't get it, but she has this way of explaining things really well so that you can get it. Great Professor.
very helpful and explains topics extremely well
Good teacher but she is not the most exciting person I've ever talked to. If you have the ability to stay awake, take her.
All through high school I HATED math but I loved this class. She explains things very well and will answer short questions in class. For more in depth help she has office hours and there is SI. Online homework each week (easy 100) and then text book homework each night which isn't graded. Great teacher and easy class if you keep up with your work!
Nice lady, at times condescending toward the boys. Moves fast through material because she has tought the class numerous times. Not good with returning e-mails. Above average(barely)
Amazing, A Goddess of Caculus
best math teacher i have ever ahd by far, she knows what shes talknig about and she knows how to teach it
She is a really good math teacher even though she does seem to move pretty fast. As long as you keep up with you book work (homework) (which she does not check) it is pretty easy! She loves to answer any of your questions so ask!
She's an amazing teacher! I thought calculus was going to be terrible but she explains things so well that I ended up with an A! Definitly take her if you can!
teaches like a robot, does not teach so the student learns worse class ever
Terrible professor!!! Doesn't explain anything at all, lecture is just her writing problems out on the board. Do not take her if you struggle with as I do. I had to drop the class.
I struggle with math as it is, and she was no help at all. Very much a lecture, no time for questions at all. Write a million things on the board and then erases, there is no way to take notes and understand in this class. Take someone else, I had to drop it.
Mrs. Fleck is the best teacher I've ever had! I came in dreading math, and she made everything so clear! Do the homework every now and then, and stay on top of work for your own benefit, and she will help you so much! If you dont take her, youre making a mistake...LOVED HER!
Teacher is extremely nice. I hate math, yet she made me hate it a little less. She is very fair in her grading. If you need a credit TAKE HER CLASS. She was very helpful.
Excellent teacher, teaches Calculus clearly and grades fairly. HIghly Recommended.
Tough class but Fleck is a good professor. Like every math class it is very important to spend time going over the book work, online work, and reviewing the handouts she gives. The handouts help a lot and provide great notes!
GRREEAATT teacher! love the way she teaches. did not ever touch the book. all homework and tests are online some in class work and in class quizes but super easy. if you're pretty decent at algebra definitely easy.
awesome teacher! Mrs fleck is by far one of the best math teachers ive ever had, theres no reason to not get an A or B in the class. she explains everything, when everything is, and whats going to be on it. flexible with grading :) and shes super nice.
Fleck was very straight forward and she was available if you needed any help. The class was very easy as long as you study off of the online homework. go through the questions and click "show me an example" and you will understand the material. don't bother buying the book, i honestly did not use it once. tests are easy if you did the homework!
i don't recommend her. shes so intimidating, i felt like she was going to eat me. i had her in a lecture hall and couldn't pay attention. shes clear but goes really fast.
Not helpful at all. Very confusing and goes way too fast during lecture. Not available after class for help. Does not answer emails so don't bother. Do not buy ANY of the texts because they are NOT used, not even once...they actually stayed in the plastic wrapping all semester. The online homework is very easy and is an easy 100% to your grade.
She's really intimidating at first, but if you need help, she is more than happy to help you. I'm not very good at math, but she explained it fairly well.
Mrs. Fleck is very nice and cares a lot about the success of her students. This class is so easy but make sure you go to class even if you don't pay attention. Attendance could help boost your grade if you're on the border. Make sure you do your homework and take the practice tests.
Mrs. Fleck was an awesome teacher. I HATE math but I still got an A! Attendance isn't mandatory, but if you miss too many classes you'll fall behind. Gives lecture notes online and was really helpful, you just have to go to her and ask. There's no reason you can't do well in her class.
Hated the course. She is boring and all the homework is online and super easy because you can cheat on it and work with others. Sometimes she took attendence but usually did not. Honestly, I didnt like her.
Took 111 as basic studies, having already taken calculus in high school. Really easy from my perspective; she gives clear explanations, works out example problems & answers any/all questions (pretty outstanding for a class of 150). Tests were online, but collected your work too so she could compare it to the answer you gave (really lenient grader)
Ms Fleck was very helpful throughout the entire year. She was always available for extra help outside of class and held multiple math sessions before tests which also extremely helped. During class, she went over problems explaining each step making sure everybody followed along!
most boring class i've ever taken. you never learn anything from the homework because it's so easy to cheat. she goes way too fast and is not good at explaining things. if you're not already good at math, DON'T TAKE THIS TEACHER.
I had professor Fleck for trigonometry. The class was relatively difficult, she moved way too quickly through the material, and it was very boring. Professor Fleck was a decent teacher and very helpful, but I would not recommend taking this course.
Mrs. Fleck was not a good teacher. She went through the material way to fast, and made and excessive amount of mistakes while giving examples. The material/Homework is somewhat challenging but the test are extremely difficult and rushed. She does help you outside of class but I still WOULD NOT recommend taking this class.
The final was insanely hard. To work so hard through out the year and receive this grade upsets me. Homework is often but if you are naturally gifted in math then I am sure this is fine for you. For people who just need a math, I wouldn't recommend this unless your die hard passionate like she is!
Goes through the material way to quickly, shes willing to help you during office hours but I would not recommend taking her class if you struggle with math.
Its definitely difficult being in a math lecture class with over 200 people. I sometimes got lost when going over notes because she goes kind of fast.Overall she is very nice and is willing to help you after class or during her office hours. 4 tests, go to the scheduled reviews before each test or math lab! H.W. definitely helps keep your grade up!
I took math 151 with her. I would recommend her if you have taken pre-calc or calc in high school. The material was easy until the last chapter. Make sure you do your homework and extra examples if you do not understand the material. She is willing to work out examples in class and out of class. She is also very nice and easy going.
She was a lot like my high school math teacher, had her for both 111 and 151. 111 was a breeze, 151 was a difficult course but she was always willing to help you out and explain things over and over again. highly recommended.
She is definitely skilled in the math area; however, she really struggles with plural verbs. For example, she always says "x equal 5" or whatever instead of x EQUALS 5 and she'll say plug x into the "y equal screen" on the calculator. Other than that, she is a great calculus teacher to have and is always willing to help you.
Mrs. Fleck is a great professor. I have always struggled with math, but she explained things very clearly and genuinely cares for her students. She is more than willing to help outside of the class if you are struggling with any of the material. It is challenging, but if you show up and put in the time you will do well.
Ms. Fleck was a great Math professor. I took her during the summer, so we went pretty fast, but I was able to get an A! I am not good at math and she made it easy to understand. She was available outside of class for any questions. Provided options for extra credit. If you have a question or need her to go over something again, just ask!
This class is really easy... your 3 lowest daily grades are dropped (quizzes and homework), and your lowest test grade is replaced by the exam, so it's a very forgiving course. You also have unlimited attempts on the homework so it's easy to get 100%. It's boring as hell, but she's pretty nice and she wants everyone to succeed.
I loved Professor Fleck. She is ALWAYS available to you if you need extra help and her tests are really easy. She's really sweet and knows what she is teaching.
I took AP Calculus in high school and ruggled through it greatly. I admit that this class was a lot easier compared to that one, but it is in part due to Mrs. Fleck. She explains concepts very well and is always willing to offer her time outside of class to answer any questions. She is also ver generous with dropping and replacing grades.
Outstanding teacher! Everything is clearly explained. She is great in office hours. Always takes extra questions and can even help 3 students in 3 different courses at the same time. Also, she's very nice and respectful. Very happy I took her course.
She is an awful teacher! Stay away!! She is very confusing I class and isn't helpful at all. Compared to the other math professors at UNCW she is terrible. If you have to take her class...go to professor Boul's review sessions before each exam. He is the only reason I got an A in this class.
Do not take MAT 112 if you do not need to. Extremely hard class, and Fleck does not make it any easier. Don't buy the text book, you only use MML. She is always willing to help and grades fairly, but that does not make up for how hard her tests are. The final wasn't too bad.
I am very terrible at math, but she was VERY helpful! I would DEFINITELY RECOMMEND HER! She has great office hours, and as long as you study your My Math Lab homework, you are good for the tests! I Had an A all semester until the final, but my grade on that was my fault. DO NOT ORDER THE TEXT BOOK. But you DO NEED THE MY MATH LAB ACCESS CODE.
She was a great teacher in lecture, but outside of lecture she was more intimidating than helpful. Her way of taking attendance is by doing clicker questions. Homework was easy and her test were a direct representation of what we learned. If I had to take math again, I would definitely take it with her.
She talks to students like they're slow. But she moves really fast when she works out problems (does a lot of factoring in her head). She offers a lot of resources and will help you when she can. Have to have clicker, this is for attendance purposes.
She was a great professor! Her class yes was boring but its math you can't expect for it to be fun. She has office hours every week and I would recommend you go to her office hours before every test she basically will help you with everything that will be on the test she is always willing to help her students and you can tell she cares about you!
I did not care for Miss Fleck's style of teaching but the material is very easy. I taught myself everything for the tests from the homework which is mandatory and very frequent. Tests and quizzes were somewhat difficult but overall an easy course/professor
The course content is super easy, and she does a good job of making things even more clear. She does kind of talk to the class like they're second graders, but it does help to really understand whats going on. I would recommend taking the course with her if you want to do well!
I absolutely loved Professor Fleck! She clearly cares for her students and wants them all to do good. The exam can replace your lowest test grade, and she drops 3 of your lowest homeworkquiz grades. Definitely go to class everyday. She posts sample tests before each exam, DO THEM A LOT. I would definitely take her again!
While Professor Fleck is a good teacher and knew what she was talking about, she teaches far too quickly and does a lot of math in her head which often leaves you in the dust. By the time you've written down the notes (or even part if you're lucky) she's onto the next thing and you have no time to process it. Review sessions were helpful though
She is a very nice and helpful teacher. She is good at explaining problems and answers questions if you ask. The class is really easy and I am glad I chose her class to take.
Professor Fleck was the best math teacher I have ever had. I usually struggle with math and expected to once again, but was pleasantly surprised. I would take her again in a heartbeat and I highly recommend her!
Best professor I have had while at UNCW.
She is a good teacher. The class is pretty simple. Expect short homework assignments online every month. My only complaint is that she goes pretty fast through the material.
Good at explaining the material!
Test are fairly challenging but if you study you will pass. She posts the notes on My Math Lab
She is very kind & will always be ready to help you. She'll review with you until you understand. She does do a lot of math in her head which can get confusing, but I did take a summer course so it was fast paced. Recommend to math savvy people & people who can write fast. Overall positive experience with her. Would take again.
She teaches very fast paced so if you don't learn well fast, I would suggest not taking her or going to the MathLab constantly.
Mrs. Fleck is by far one of the best math teachers I have had! She explains everything so well, and as long as you do the work and pay attention, you'll do fine! Once you get into the hang of taking notes, you'll pass with flying colors! Definitely recommend!
Ms. Fleck was a wonderfully enjoyable professor. I certainly did not go to every lecture but you CANNOT miss her tests, quizzes, and group work. You can't make it up. So if you're going to skip, do NOT skip those days. Also, STUDY STUDY STUDY.
She is one of the best professors I have ever had. I find math challenging and she helped me so much. Go to her office hours if you have questions. Go to class and keep up with the work and you should have no problem getting an A. I would love to take another class with her.
Not the best teacher
Mrs Fleck is a sweet lady who wants her students to learn, but she just gets very scattered during her teaching. Half the time you have to correct her while she is doing a problem because she messed up somewhere in the middle. As a math professor, you wouldn't expect her to mess up the same formulas she was teaching. Homework almost every night.
Mrs. Fleck is a really nice lady. However, calculus is not an easy subject and she likes to rush through it. Definitely print out the notes she provides and bring those to class. There's a quiz every week along with homework on mymathlab. Do it. These are usually pretty easy and can really boost your grade. Go to class, do your work and pass.
She goes so so fast. cant follow what she does at all. Had to go to the math lab every day and teach myself. Class was extremely confusing.
I think she might be a good professor for people with a good mathematics foundation but if you're someone who struggles with the subject like me, she moves way too fast. When you ask questions, she seems to rush through them and it doesn't seem like she cares if you understand the concepts.
Mrs. Fleck is a great teacher who knows what she's doing. I would suggest printing her notes everyday and going to her office hours because those will help a lot! As long as you put in the effort calculus requires, you will get an A. She is very organized and posts everything on MYMATHLAB. I would suggest her to every one.
She's a great professor. One of the best I've ever had. She is a very dedicated professor. She's always willing to help you whatever and how ever long it takes. She's very fair. I would take any class she taught. She is awesome.
She moves super fast for a class that is already very hard. If you are struggling she will help you during office hours, but going to class alone is not enough to do well on the tests.
Came into the class thinking I wouldn't do well but turned out completely wrong. Fleck is a good professor for the course since the lecture material is somewhat challenging. Must commit time to the class and definitely should go to each class not including obvious reasons such as quizzes and tests.
Great professor and very clear on material. Lots of hw but if you do it the quizes and test are easy. Lots of review sessions and always there to help. Math is hard, but put effort into it and you'll be fine with her. She posts notes so just pay attention in class and do hw then ask questions before quizes or test. Drops 3 quiz/hw grades.
Please take my advice and just take someone else. I was in huge class and by the middle of the semester half of the class dropped, withdrew or just didn't show up. Math lab complained about her teaching style. This is just like a high school math class with a tired teacher, assigned seats, no phones, and unclear mistake-laden teaching.
Worst professor I have ever had. She teaches from a powerpoint and if you do not do problems the exact same way that she does them, the whole thing is counted incorrect. She is very condescending when speaking to students and is not helpful at all.
Hardest class I have ever taken. Just absolutely horrible. Never have gotten less than an A in any math class until this course when I finished with a C. Please do not take this class unless you've taken calculus already in high school!!
If you want a good grade in this class make sure you go to the math lab, and study outside of class. This class is what you make of it, she does explain material clearly, but you do have to do problems outside of class.
Math is not a easy subject so you have to study for this class, she replaces your lowest test grade with what you get on the final and she drops the 3 lowest homework and quiz grades. If you study you should have no problem passing this class. Also go to her office hours she will help you succeed
I love Mrs. Fleck. Her lectures are kinda boring and hard to follow but she gives so many example problems to work from before exams that it's impossible not to do well. She makes the exams very fair and straight forward. My only complaint is that we had weekly quizzes that got to be really annoying to study for, but they made the tests easier.
You can pass this class easily with a good grade if you just use the tools like Aleks or the Skripts. I never had any problem with this class. Mrs Fleck is a nice and helpful teacher. She will use old Exam to prepare you for the final. She answers a lot of questions even before the test.
It's pretty clear someone doesn't want you to know that is class is incredibly hard and frustrating because bad comments keep dissapearing. Here's the truth you will struggle with Terry Fleck. Definitely switch to another calc. I will write this until my fingers fall off. These "good" reviews got me stuck in her class freshman year. Save yourself.
All those negative comments are not reliable! This is my second class with Terry Fleck and I have absolute no problems with her or her teaching style. Terry Fleck is a very nice and helpful teacher. Negative comments here are definitely not reflecting the truth! If you dont work for getting a good grade, it is on you.
Ms. Fleck is a great teacher and really goes out of her way to help you understand. She can move a little fast at times but if you actually ask her questions she will happily explain. Idk why she has any negative comments. If you dont do well in her class thats on you, she really is a great teacher! If you take trig, take it with Ms. Fleck! :)
Ms. Fleck is a nice teacher who is super helpful but she kinda flies through the material. I had to spend a lot of time studying and going to the math lab but it paid off. She has review sessions before each test, no extra credit. You definitely have to apply yourself to succeed.
It's so strange how reviews are arguing in the ratings about her, like who cares that much? She is a nice lady, just not great at teaching Calc if you're rusty. If you struggle with math she isn't for you. I switched out to Peters during the add/drop, fleck was incredibly fast paced day 1 and she doesn't lay out the whole problem during class.
Mrs. Fleck is a nice person, but a bad professor. I think that her lectures are impossible to understand and she is not very good at explaining anything. She'll fill up the whole class just because she has to. I would not recommend taking her unless you're willing to work ridiculously hard for a class that shouldn't be that hard.
very nice lady and will help you if you need help, she gives homework every two days that takes at least two hours, quiz every other class and test every other week. She moves insanely fast and every other calc class is easier and does not require that much work.
Mrs. Fleck rushes through lectures but it isn't too hard if you take notes and show up. There are a lot of online homework assignments but if you do them all they can help your grade a lot. The quizzes are usually 3 questions and the tests are quite difficult for someone who's never taken calc before. She drops the 4 lowest quiz/homework grades.
Like any math class, you have to work for your grade. You won't pass if you do the bare minimum, but she makes it pretty much impossible to fail. She drops 2 lowest hw&quizzes and will replace lowest exam w the final. Tons of resources available and lots of office hours. Sweet lady who cares about her students
I have already taken calculus in high school and it was still hard to do well on her exams because she is very particular on how problems should be completed. She also tends to go too fast through lectures and will make mistakes without even realizing it. There are a lot of quizzes and homeworks but she drops the lowest 3.
Nice lady but a very poor math teacher. Her lectures are fast paced and I feel like she blows by the hard stuff while spending uneccesary time on the simple stuff. Homework every night and quiz every class. Also the tests are the hardest Ive ever had for any math class. And this was MAT 112. Save yourself and dont take her
I found this class to me unnecessarily difficult. She is a very intelligent and a nice lady, but she teaches at a rapid speed. I feel for those only taking calc to earn the credit and are moving on towards obtaining a career in something they will never use calc in, I suggest taking another teachers course. Tests are given weekly and are difficult.
Warning: DO NOT TAKE THIS WITH THIS TEACHER. I am normally an A, B student. This teacher will make you regret your life for an entire semester. Ridiculously fast paced and bombarded with homework and tests. The class is curved generously because it is set up to make you fail, learning nothing while wasting your time and energy.
Mrs. Fleck is super nice and really does want to help you. The class is hard but with studying and putting the effort in, you will be fine. Attendance is not "mandatory" but you will definitely need to go to class to not get behind!
Mrs. Fleck is a pretty good teacher for MAT112. While her lectures are a bit fast, they go into a good amount of detail for the subject. She is also always willing to help her students and encourages stopping by her office.
Terry Fleck was a great professor, I had many experiences with Trigonometry from high school so the beginnings units of this class were easy for me as we progressed into the semester the material got harder but I loved the way she structured the class with ALEKS.
Prof. Fleck is a super nice women. I had no issues with the class itself and felt she explained material fairly well. My only issue was I felt her tests and quizzes didnt accurately reflect my ability in the class. I found myself getting all the questions correct on the review and tests/quizzes were nothing like it.
Professor Fleck is a very kind teacher and wants her students to succeed. Mat 111 was fairly easy for me because she did a good job at explaining concepts. She is very particular about her tests & she goes though course content very fast. But, she is always willing to go back and clarify anything you missed. Overall, I would recommend her
Loved her. She was always available for office hours outside of class. I had a D early on, and went to her for lots of help. Quizzes and Tests were hard, but I was able to get my D up to a B. Calc was not easy, but if you go to class and sign up for office hours (take advantage), and complete all homework (unlimited attempts) you will pass.
Professor Fleck teaches because she loves math, and that is super easy to see. She's always willing to work with students who put in the effort to understand the material, but if you skip class more than a few times, don't expect her to bend over backwards for you. Tests are big and hard, but if you review consistently, you'll be fine.
Professor Fleck is very straightforward with how she teaches. She makes it her goal to make sure everyone understands the material. She goes over specific questions that we have trouble with. If you come to class and study as usual, no doubt that you will recieve an A in this class.
Honestly? She's a really nice woman. However she moves fast, and her quizzes and tests usually have harder problems than what she reviews. There's tests every Tuesday and she never really reviews them, she teaches you new information before you take the quiz on LAST weeks info. You need to be motivated to want to pass
She seems like a nice lady. But I would have loved to never take mat 111 its very homework heavy and she goes over the material like its a damn race. I would learn information Wednesday by just taking notes and then test on it Friday. I didnt enjoy it one bit
Professor Fleck is the best math professor I have had. Math courses are hard in general. Professors have to move quickly in order to teach all material. I have never received anything below a B on a quiz, and nothing below an A on a test. She explains everything thoroughly and goes over any questions. Highly recommend, you just have to care enough
She gives weekly quizzes which give you a chance to buffer test grades but if you get sick and cant come, youre screwed.
Mrs. Fleck was AMAZING! Math has never come easy for me. Mrs. Fleck is a wonderful person and a great teacher. She grades super fair. There are weekly quizzes but if you study, they will come easy. She never gives out problems to try and trick you. I 100% recommend. I encourage you to use office hours for extra help!
Mrs. Fleck is a very nice lady dont get me wrong. But this was probably the hardest class Ive ever taken. There is a quiz or test every Tuesday, homework due Wednesdays and Friday. Its a lot of material to learn in a short amount of time, and she goes really fast sometimes. But if youre motivated youll pass.
Prof. Fleck was amazing! She thoroughly goes over everything and is very straightforward with what exactly she expects from you. Homework is through ALEKS and she lets you know beforehand about all the quizzes and tests. 10/10 professor would take her class again
I got sick, missed 2 lectures, and I was so behind that I had to withdrawal. The professor is really nice and will answer emails quickly. I have always struggled with math and I think with extra help this class would have been fine but it does move very quickly. I would recommend prioritizing your time if you have her.
Ms. Fleck is a good teacher for MAT111. all of the other math teachers here at UNCW are not very good and she is better than most. all of the math classes will be fast paced and you have to try but i think that ms. fleck actually does an amazing job at presenting the course material. i would take fleck again opposed to many other teachers here.
Professor Fleck is an amazing math teacher. All 111 classes fit a lot of content into a short amount of time, but she explains everything very thoroughly. She is also very clear on when homework is due and when the quizzes and tests are and the content that will be on them.
Professor Fleck is a good professor, although she tends to work through lectures at a fast pace, so if you can't learn this way do not take her. She also does not do any make up quizzes or exams, so do not miss one of those days. If you are sick for an exam, you still have to go to class to take the exam unless you want a 0.
Mrs. Fleck barely taught. She completes problems on the whiteboard of her classroom and that's her form of teaching. When you ask questions she seems annoyed to answer them and she takes forever to answer emails. Overall the class was okay because you mainly teach yourself through ALEKS online but I wouldn't reccomend Mrs. Fleck
Maybe her regular class is better, she was our sub when our normal professor had to leave, but she gave off very rude and condescending vibes while she was with us. She also has a tendency to be very fast-paced when teaching material and was very repetitive when explaining how to do things.
Awful teacher tough tests and exams do not take
Felt as if she takes this class too seriously. Would not allow for any laptops, phones etc out during class. She came in halfway through the semester because of my teachers maternity leave. First two exam averages were in the 80s, her exam was in the 60s.
I had to retake Pre-calc but it was fine I had a better understanding and she explains the material really well. She does go a little fast sometimes but the stem lab always helps. One of the good math professors out there.
Not a great teacher, weekly quizzes, not enjoyable
She is a nice woman don't get me wrong, but personally I need a more hands-on, descriptive teacher(especially in math) and she is not that. If you don't naturally excel at math find a different teacher because she tends to fly through topics. I've also realized she gives significantly harder tests and quizzes than the other the mat150 teachers.
I have never been good at math. Mrs. Fleck is an amazing professor and helped me to understand the material. I love her teaching style and she is sure to provide plenty of examples. She also has very flexible office hours and will be glad to help whenever needed.
She encouraged me to stay in the class when I wante
Will not help you improve your grade
Mrs. Fleck was an awesome teacher! If you want to do good in MAT 150 then you'll actually have to go to class and pay attention. She gives partial credit on exams and quizzes and is great at explaining complicated topics. It can be a tough class but you just have to put in the work and you'll do great.
She teaches fine but does startt moving fast about half way through the semester. Weekly quizzes and ALEKS for each of the 12 modules. 3 exams and a final. If you miss one day of class you'll struggle to catch up but she does post completed class outlines on canvas after the exam. quizzes are short (about 6-10 question) but she gives partial credit
really good teacher, her method of not allowing to use a calculator in here weekly quizzes or even test will definitely prepare you for your future math classes, moves fast, but it is a lot of information to cover in 1 semester just like any math class.
Fleck is an anomaly among professors, as she does not allow phones or laptops to be used during class. She also does not allow calculators to be used on tests or quizzes unless absolutely necessary. These are also in person so I hope you handle pressure well. If not, well tests and quizzes are worth basically your entire grade so good luck.
Professor Fleck's math class is a challenge, but worth the effort. Go to class, use the free textbook, and try Unstuckstudy for extra practice - it really helped me prepare. The quizzes are tough, but she gives partial credit and is happy to explain concepts.
She was a great at teaching the concepts and knew what she was doing her totally planed semister method of theaching some people might not like but I loved it. She has her das dedicted to stuff she is going to do. So just be there and do the homework on time and you will be fine.
Ms. Fleck wants to make sure everyone succeeds. She explains the material in depth but the class is very fast paced. If you were to miss one class you would most likely fall behind, especially with a Tuesday/Thursday. I like that she uses ALEKS for homework because it is a great way to learn material if you didn't understand during the notes.
I wasn't a fan of Ms. Fleck when we started because we learned Tuesday quizzed Thursday, did not allow calculators on them, other teachers did, I got used to her schedule my grade started improving and she allowed us to work with partners on our quizzes. She drops many grades and replaces a test with your final. VERY STRICT GRADER
Good prof, caring, wants to see her students do well, but its math so its hard
