Terry is a great teacher and takes time for his students
Terry is a very challenging professor, great personality, but makes you work hard to earn a good grade. After his classes, any science-related class is a piece of cake!
Mr. Harrison is an outstanding professor. His lectures are professional and extremely clear. He dressed nicely and was always on time. He absolutely deserves to be department chair. But watch out for this class - it's a doozy.
Unorganized, very unorganized in his hybrid course.
Very unorganized and unhelpful in hybrid course. Took several days t respond on message board or via email even though it was only means of communication. Easy assignments, though.
This is the worst online/hybrid course I've had. There is little to no communication in the discusscion area and in on line courses the discussion board is the main part of the class. He assigns work for material that has not been covered yet and chapter study guides include material not covered in that chapter. Very unclear and disorganized.
Very difficult class. Lectures are quite boring. He doesn't make clear answers when you ask what is expected. He showes favoritism with students.
He is not clear at all as to what you need to know for exams. He doesn't explain things clearly in class and is very disorganized. He provides study guides for exams and doesn't say they aren't comprehensive unless you ask. We had a couple of labs with different teachers and they were so much better.
HORRIBLE PROFESSOR, AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
Terry made this class way more challenging due to his disorganization, slow online response, and very vague replies to questions. His power points and tests were downloads from the publisher, and he gave no indication on what to prioritize in his "study guide". Practi****tutorial with dissections visible to all in the lecture hall was most helpful.
I cannot say that he is a good or bad instructor. I have only dealt with him in open lab/lab tutorials. He presents lab material in a way that makes sense and gives you ways to remember the material. Great person and always happy to help whenever he can!
The hybrid class is really tough with tons of material crammed into a four hour Saturday once a month. I've taken two classes with him and Candace Dixon and they are the toughest classes. I walked away with four A's last semester and a C in A&P. Practicals suck and the professors don't teach much of anything.
Terry was an excellent teacher! He really wanted his students to succeed and helped us along the way. He was always available and I learned so much from taking his class.
Harrison does not teach from the book and is so unorganized. Although he is available to look over the previous test and for questions, he does not answer questions directly. He should be teaching what all the other professors are teaching. The tests are really hard and have pointless questions in them. BEWARE!
He loves science and is extremely intelligent. His class is very difficult with the class average on the last exam of 62% with no one scoring higher than an 84%. Exam questions seem to be "trick" questions. One word will throw you off. Advice to succeed: Get all A's in lab to carry you through. He does offer opportunities to raise your grade.
Completely Unorganized, does not give you a clear understanding of the material. My class started with almost 50 students and was down to 16 by the time I dropped. Biology is a tough subject, but this guy takes it to a whole other level. ACC's bio dept is a joke. I transfered elsewhere and passed with flying colors.
Avoided his class at all cost! He loves science and is extremely intelligent but does not know how to teach to adapt to different learning styles Completely Unorganized, does not give you a clear understanding of the material. The tests are really hard and have pointless questions in them. BEWARE!
Harrison is an extremely poor teacher. He kind of mumbles through lecture only hitting the highlighted words in the text. He makes no attempt to get a check on student learning or comprehension. It is clear he understands what he is talking about but no one else has a clue. Take another Professor at all costs. Do not underestimate difficulty.
Harrison is a very intelligent person, however, it is sometimes hard to understand his lectures. He doesn't answer any of the emails I send to him asking him about assignments. But I do like that he gives us opportunities to get extra credit on the tests, because he knows they're very difficult and he is a fairly easy grader.
All questions come from his lecture notes. So have those down cold. He is very intelligent and is available for questions in his office. Plus, he is hilarious! He throws in his anti-smoking speech at every opportunity. Two words you will have a greater appreciation for: Enzymes and Carbon, take his class and study hard, you will not regret it.
Terry is a very nice man, however he is very disorganized, unclear in how to prepare oneself for his tests and prides himself on how sneaky his test questions are. If you ask him for extra study guides he will provide them, but be on him to give you the answers to them so you know if you are on the right track.Attend all labs and do ALL assignments
Pretty good teacher. Not too strict on grading. As long as you turn in the assignments on time and put effort into it you are likely to get full credit. Study hard!
Great teacher!! Can't be over-emphasized.
Terry is a good teacher. The exam is difficult. However, you will get a good grade if you study really hard.I also like how he assigns the homework. You will have to do 3 lab reports. Make sure you do it perfect because Terry is very strict with the reports. The rest of the post lab will be short report only 1 page.
He is not so strict when it comes to grading papers or lab reports. Requires 4 formal lab report and drops off the lowest graded one. Only 5 lab exams, which are pretty easy. The lecture exams are really tricky. Final exam is the worst. Sometimes I wonder where he got those questions. Not so good in lecture. Sometimes you can't understand him.
Terry is awesome!!! He came in on a Saturday to do an extra session with us before our practical's. I love the way he teaches the structures in lab, I really got it. He's really funny too. Tests are hard, but you just need to put in the work. Attendance isn't "mandatory" but if you miss even one session you will get behind.
What can I say, Terry is a funny, awkward guy. His lectures are very easy to understand for the content level, he is very helpful in lab, and grades pretty well on assignments. Be prepared to study hard for exams and especially the practicals. Overall an awesome professor!
Nice guy, but I felt that his lectures were pointless. They did not include anything new or explain in better detail anything hard from the reading. Who knows where he got the material for tests. The study guides were almost a waste of time. His rubrics and outlines for what he wanted on papers and other assignments was usually unclear.
Terry is great, he did such a good job teaching the structures in lab. He is the only BIO instructor I have heard of that does this. He did two extra sessions with us, one before each practical. He grades easy on assignments but tests are very, very hard.
Class was a lot of work, but I learned a lot. If you show up for lab and put in the time he is very helpful. More than fair in grading exams.
He is very friendly but hard to learn the material from. Reads directly from power points. Everything he says is fair game on a test!
Professor Harrison had interesting lectures. His exams were HARD! Furthermore, he was not helpful in answering questions. He seemed irritated when I would ask him questions outside of class.
I took Prof Harrison for both Bio 111 and 201. In both classes, he was very clear with his expectations. He would reiterate if something was very important - and it would usually show up on a test. His tests are difficult but fair. He's very flexible with my crazy schedule - lets me attend different lab times if I need to.
Really good teacher. I thought he was very clear about what you needed to know for the tests. Pretty funny too and you can tell he really loves teaching.
Familiarize yourself with the mechanics of good multiple choice questions; his tests are well crafted. He covers a lot of information and guides the learner to areas of greater importance. Study Guides are helpful. He is impartial as he supervises students learning. Make sure your support network is behind you and solid!
Extreme flexibility in altering lesson plan to make a 1,000 page pathophysiology book more digestible. Study guides pretty worthless, best to go by lecture and slide presentation. Several extra credit opportunities. Open book pre lecture quiz every week or closed book post lecture quiz. Most test questions in NCLEX format.
For summer, this class is intense. For lecture, he sped through a lot. He gives study guides (SG), on which he bases his exams. The textbook is more of a resource. For the lab portion, he is awesome. Unlike others, he goes through the models with you and gives mnemonic devices. He could improve on responding to emails and be consistent on SGs.
Super easy. Nice guy
Terry wants his students to succeed! There's a lot of material but he provides a list of learning objectives for chapters to help focus your studies. This class is reverse classroom style and you must be prepared for lecture (daily quiz on material BEFORE lecture begins). This class will be easy if you did well in A&P. I've had a 95% all semester.
I took anatomy and physiology 2 with Mr. Harrison and did not do as well as I wanted to, despite spending endless hours studying the material. His study guides were useless; no matter what I studied or how much, I still didn't do well on his tests. However, he did offer extra credit which helped me earn a B. Lab is great, he is very helpful there.
Terry is GREAT. You can tell that he has been teaching this class for MANY years, he is very knowledgeable. WARNING he does have some crude humor sometimes but it makes you laugh and it help you to remember everything you need to know for the tests. It never bothered me or seemed to bother the other students in my class. TAKE HIM FOR A/P!
This is my second time taking Terry and he is a great instructor. There are four exams and two lab notebook turn-ins. He is very funny and will not bore you. However, be aware of his study guides because they are lengthy and do not align with the exams. You have to pay attention, show up and self-teach (most of the time) to do well.
Had Terry for Spring 2016 BIO 201. This class is hard period. No matter who you take it with. Terry has been teaching for many years in ACC and he knows the material. He tries to keep the class interesting and even gives you helpful tips and ideas for remembering the material. His a great teacher and you can tell he enjoys teaching.
Terry is the worst teacher I have every had. He plays Khan academy videos in class, which is annoying, but better than when he *tries* to lecture. His lectures are useless and you learn nothing from them. I have heard that his online classes might be better, but AVOID TERRY AT ALL COSTS. like seriously, don't take him.
Here is the deal. Harrison is a nice guy, and a pretty generous grader of tests and papers. The major flaw in this class is his preparation and organization. He does not stick to his own syllabus, and doesn't lead the lab sessions at all. I felt like I could have taken this class online, because I mostly taught myself.
Professor Harrison is a really nice guy and is a generous grader on lab practicals. However, his lectures are very unorganized and all over the place. He does not offer extra credit and your entire grade is based off of 6 tests and 4 assignments. You will need to do well on all assignments/tests to get the A. Be prepared to teach yourself.
I switched into his class a few weeks into it, and ended up teaching myself pretty much the entire class. His lectures consist of him fumbling with technology and end in his attempting to draw different structures. Barely needed to attend as long as you can read the textbook. Lab was the exact same way. I wouldn't take him again if I don't have to.
Really laid back guy. Taught the course in a way that was easily understood. One of the easiest graders.
Harrison is a funny Texan man with a heart for science. He is so passionate about the subject. The course is challenging and there is a lot to learn, but he gives out very clear rubrics and only grades on what he teaches. He is effective in teaching the material and gives out tons of study tips and ridiculous mnemonics.
Terry is a really good professor, just show up, use the study guides, study, ask questions. It's not hard to get help he is always willing to help students.
Started the class saying it was reader intensive. What he meant was this is an independent study. Memorize the text book, tests are 2/3 of the class. Auto graded. Felt like no one was on the other end. I'd say he was nice if I ever heard from him.
I took A&P one and two with Terry and i loved it. It really kick-started my love for health sciences. Memorization is key in the class. Know your CV system and bones. ;) Other than that, he's a pretty good prof!
I think it was crazy taking Patho in a short summer course before nursing school. It is longer than AP 1 and 2 combined and you only have 8 weeks to take it. That said, mostly I attribute that to the difficulty. For Terry specifically, DO NOT use your grades on assignments as indication of test difficulty, because you will fail, test are way harder
As a non pre-med student, this course almost destroyed my grades. With a lot of hard work, managed to pull an A. You can do it. Tests are killer, as long as you try he gives easy grades for everything else. His lectures are confusing sometimes, you'll need external help. But, he truly cares about teaching biology and that smooths over any bumps.
He is helpful and wishes students succeed. He is nice and taught me how biology can be fun!!
My advice is to keep up with material. A&P is a lot of memorizing pathways and concepts. Terry cares about the success of his students and won't try to trick you. Time put into preparing/studying is directly proportional to how well you'll do in this class.
Terry wants the best for his students, but it is very hard to adapt to his teaching style. Lectures are long and make sure to use lab time wisely. He has the diagrams out but doesn't really go into depth with you. Study hard because the test are all your grade counts for. Quizlets, study guide, and notes. This course is rough.
Theres no point in him being there, you teach yourself everything. And then when Covid 19 made the class switch to online, he completely abandoned his students. Would not respond to emails, did no give lectures via zoom or pre-recorded. All we got was assignments and due dates, the rest was up to us to figure out.
I saw Professor Harrison in person in an A&P class and really liked his teaching style. Pathophysiology was a whole different story. This class was online, but was also during COVID. He was not present in the class at all. It was basically self taught. The "study guides" given did not reflect the questions that were on the quizzes/exams.
I am paying for this class for an instructor to teach the material so I can better understand it. If I wanted to learn just from reading, I would have taken an online class instead. He left you hanging on everything! AP is not something you learn on your own, especially the physiology portion needs quite the explaining. VERY POOR COMMUNICATION.
DO NOT RECOMMEND! Does not give an adequate amount of time on the tests and you will fail even if you're an A student. Doesn't seem to care about teaching. Lectures are dry and unpersonalized (if he even posts any). Very poor communication, disorganized, and takes forever posting grades. Very test heavy which sucks due to the lack of time you get.
Prof Harrison seems unphased by the pandemic and having to go online. Most previous teachers were lost, but he's on top of his game with online lectures, resources, activities, and always willing to meet. I'd highly recommend. Just follow the stuff he provides and you'll do well.
I was suprised that this class was actually easy. Professor H was very clear in expectations and if you just put the time in, you'd do well. He was always on top of technology and used lots of images and things that made the material easy to learn. My friends struggled with other teachers but he was very clear and caring about everyone.
Great teacher. Caring and very supportive. He went out of his way to meet with us more than was on the schedule. If you put in the work and go with his study guides, you'll do well. Highly recommend.
Excellent teacher. Very sweet man with a ton of knowledge. Hes constantly willing to help and go above and beyond. Clear expectations and easy exams.
Harrison is a wonderful teacher with a heart of gold. He is also an expert on online and virtual things so if youre taking it online, this is the person to go with. He had lots of options on how to learn things and the exams were clear. I'd definitely take him over Ostwald, who I dropped after a week of nonsense. Harrison is very understanding too.
Put in the work and use his study guides and you'll do great. Very clear teaching and no surprises. Quick responses and grading. Great teacher.
Terry had an organized online class with lots of ways to learn the material. He's a techy guy, obviously which is huge compared to other online teachers I've had with no clue. His exams are clear cut if you study. Practicals are hard but you have to know the study guides he gives and you'll do ok. Great online teacher.
Would do anything to help his students. Knowledgable, tech savy, great at teaching. I really liked him a lot.
Very accessible and great teacher. He had the course set up well and very organized. I won't say it was easy because you have to study A&P to do well but he had everything I needed and then some to do well. Lots of resources and quick to respond to emails.
I had Professor Harrison for 201 in person and 202 online. He was a great teacher in both. Very good with the online format, but a wonderful lecturer and person. Highly recommend.
This class was very disorganized. Terry's the only professor I've had who would ignore emails for up to a week at a time. I had to follow up constantly. His outlines do not prepare you for the content on exams. He also does not post lectures for the majority of the course's content. I would recommend taking A&P with someone who actually teaches.
Wonderful human and online teacher that really cares. He provides so many options so you can use the things that are in your learning style. Very organized and more materials to help than you could wish for. Great experience.
He is on point and a great teacher. His way of teaching really helps the information stick and you understand it for future classes. He was very fair and kind and knew his stuff. Definitely recommend.
Wonderful lecturer and cares about students. Maybe the nicest and most experienced teacher Ive ever had. He knows his stuff. You have to work for exams and practicals but he gives worksheets and study guides.
I could not be happier with Terry as my prof. He goes above and beyond and is experienced beyond any teacher I've had. He has lots of stuff to help learn material and is a great storyteller in class.
Lets be honest, taking A&P online is hard. But Terry makes it possible. He is organized and has a handle on everything with lots of extra things to help to study like videos and study guides. He even has online office hours.
Terry is a wonderful and seasoned teacher that really cares about his students. It is clear that he has been doing this a long time but is also up to date on new tech and resources, which he shares with us. He gives lots of aids like study guides and handouts. Best professor I've had.
Great online teacher for something as hard as A&P 2. He had a lot of ways to learn and earn points and very organized. Highly recommend.
Really great teacher online and in person. Definitely experienced and passionate about teaching A&P.
This online class was the best Ive had. I can not believe that he created it himself. Fast at responses, lots of material for help, meets with you by zoom any time- best online teahcer you can ask for. Practicals are hard, but that is how A&P goes. Knowledgeable and thorough online teacher and I hear he's awesome in person too. Please teach patho!
A nice and approachable guy. However, by far the hardest class I've experienced primarily due to his style of teaching. We were basically told to not bother reading the $300+ required textbook and to study his outlines instead because he words things in his "own way". But then the test questions did not reflect those outlines. Barely made it out.
Clear and organized with many great ways to learn material. Provides tutorials and study guides. He could not have done more to help us learn. Great with online and in person. I took him for both.
I was able to understand the material so much better, I am glad I was able to take his class. HIs lab practicals were much more bearable to take, he offers extra credit opportunities, as well as tons of resources to help you learn. I took this class over the summer so it was accelerated and it was still a breeze to take, would recommend!
I've had Terry online for 2101 and then in person for 2102. He's a great professor. He is up to date and gave us help and things that other classes did not get. With his help and expertise, I got an A in both. He's a caring and intelligent guy and knows technology and online resources. I highly recommend him for either class.
Best online professor I've had. He is very tech savvy and provides ample material to help do well in A&P. I took both 1 and 2 online with him and couldn't have made good grades with anyone else. Very organized. Also met with him by Zoom for help. He's very helpful.
Really great professor and teaching style. It was online but I learned so much and he was responsive and very in tune with onlin students. Highly advise to take A&P with him.
Professional and knowledgeable professor that cares. Best teacher I've had in my career. His teaching style is more than just standing and lecturing and labs are awesome.
The amount of work is absolutely CRAZY. I didn't take this as a shortened class, and it was still AWFUL. There are 2 lab practical quizzes/exams that are 25% of your grade, ON TOP OF THE OTHER 6 exams. It's 80+ questions that are multiple parts, fill in the blanks, definitions AND short answers, you're only given 60 minutes for them. It's awful.
I was nervous taking a 10 week science course but he made this class fun and not scary! This class goes fast and it is easy to fall behind if you don't stay on top of things. Yes, exam heavy (every other week) but if you do the modules right before the exam, it's a great study guide! I loved this class! Dissections were awesome too.
He really wants his students to succeed! He does weekly check ins with the class and keeps you informed with due dates so things are never a surprise! Great supplemental learning materials as well. The modules are long and tedious sometimes but is actually really helpful.
Professor Terry was one of the best teachers I've ever had at ACC. He cares about his students, ensuring we learn the material and stay on track with the course. He talks about his day at the start of class and understands that his students have busy lives of their own. I'd 10000% recommend him to everyone if I could. He is a great teacher!!
Wonderful teacher with lots of teaching experience and techniques. He seemed to really care and it made all the difference.
He was very understanding and very passionate about what he was teaching. Made the class interesting. Had good study guides, many quizzes, and little tests except for the final. You also have a midterm in that class.
Made a really hard class relatively easy to understand and fun! Assignments are pretty easy and straightforward and actually helped me learn the material rather than just trying to get a good grade. He's also just a really nice guy!
How Terry doesnt have a higher rating is beyond me, he is funny, he teaches you exactly what you need to know, and he helps with the hands on learning!
He is a great and kind professor! He has been one of my favorite science professors, and I wish he taught microbiology or pathophysiology as well! The way he teaches just clicks very well with me and I understand it much better. Highly recommend!
AMAZING professor. Please take his class if you can. I took it online and thought it would be difficult but it was definitely manageable. I liked that you could do dissections at home.
I liked how hands-on this course was. Easy to reach when needed, and he cares about his students
This professor talks about making sure that students do not use plagiarism, yet his curriculum is EXACTLY like his wife's that teaches AP1. He overdoes it with the homework, especially those ridiculous histology assignments. DO BETTER! I do give him credit that he is a little nicer than Rachel.
Really organized teacher and quick on everything. Seems to care and good at helping with online issues. Lots of study help and resources. Really thought I got my moneys worth on this course.
Terry has been my favorite A&P teacher so far. He provided really great material and gave weekly updates to the class. He really wants his students to succeed. This class in my opinion was much easier than A&P 1, and I thoroughly enjoyed my A&P 1 teacher as well. Thank you Terry!
Terry is a great AP2 professor. His lectures are heavy on the physiology and enjoyed them! If a concept is more challenging, he will post extra help online, but it is up to you to do the extra work. Read your syllabus and course schedule carefully. Tests are hard challenging!!! Overall, I would take his class again.
He was probabaly the best teacher I've ever had. Attendence isn't mandatory but his classes are fun! He's very kind and understand, really cares about his students and will work with you. I learned a lot and I think his way of teaching was very easy to understand. If I could take another class with him I would!
He was a good teacher. The class wasn't horrible for being 4 credits w/ lab. The class is in three week increments. At the end of the three weeks there are two exams part A and B. No cumulative final. Very organized with online classes. Grades fast
Truly the kindest and most wonderful instructor. His lectures rely on handwritten notes and drawings that make it easy to remember intricate concepts. Lots of opportunity for extra credit, and the exams and practicals are really straightforward. Already miss being in his class. It was so much fun.
