He doesn't give partial credit no matter how hard you try. I studied for hours and still failed the exams. I'm taking it again under another teacher this semester and I have an A.

Easy class if you have taken Trig, Pre-Calc, or Calc previously. Could be really hard if you haven't.
Math, a modeling appoach was fun! He makes it really easy for quizzes and tests!
By far the worst teacher I've had at CMU. Makes students feel uncomfortable when asking questions. Hard to follow. Over 35 started the class and 7 stayed in the end. Alot of students wasted money by trying to stick it out

absolutley horrible...he told me to drop the class after a bad test..who does that..could never understand him, had his back to the class the ENTIRE time...do not take this man
He's not that bad. Sometimes he isn't clear on his explanations but if you ask he'll help. And the tests are easy.
He is very funny and makes math fun with his Dr.Pepper jokes. He is always willing to help, if you do not understand one of the steps.
I HATE THIS MAN WITH A BURNING PASSION!!!!! He also made me drop the class for a bad test score and when i asked him if there was anything i could do to bring my grade up he told me to take his advice and drop it..thanks for your help lenker!!!!!!

He doesn't really teach. Instead, he just does examples really fast, and expects you to know what he is doing. Has his back to the class the whole time. Makes you very uncomfortable when you ask questions. Hard Tests. If you don't memorize the book, FAIL!

BAD,BAD,BAD~ Don't take him, it is the worst class ever!!! He doesn't listen and he can't teach. He has his back to the class the entire class period. He doesn't listen to you when you have questions and he isn't willing to help.
THE RUDEST TEACHER i have ever had. Does not expalin a thing, DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASS WITH HIM, even if there are only 8 am left with everyone else! Seriously
Not so bad if you keep up. Hes a nice guy to talk to and will help if you come to class and try. Don't fall behind. I found him easier to deal with my second time around... CMUs math dept. kinda sucks, he's better than many others I've had.
Do not take this guy at all. My class started with 35, when i dropped it their way only 10 left. I got 2 and 3 out of 10 on all the quizzes and a 32% on the test. I now have Mcdowell and it is night and day difference, he is awesome
Doesn't explain for crap. When you ask a question on a quiz, he makes you feel dumb. Goes very fast. Just not a good teacher.

I think I was one of the only ones to get an A in my class, and I only got that because I had had a good trig teacher in highschool. The quizzes are tough and so are the tests. I don't recommend this class if you have never had trig before.
This is the worst teacher at CMU. I received my worst grade from him. He puts **** on the quizzes and exams that we dont even go over. I studied the most for this class and got 3&5 on all the quizzes. TOUGH GRADER and Horrible teacher

Lanker is the worst teacher for math at least. he doesnt explain a thing and his quizzes are like weeks behind the homework! how am i supose to learn without him teaching and being confused himself?! he should retire!

Very Very BAD "teacher!" When will i get a prof at CMU that actually teaches? This guy sucks!
DR. Lenker gives alot of notes to help clarify problems. His quizzes are a little challenging, but you have to do the Homework and study inorder to do well.
If you don't have a strong math background, he can be tough. I had a good background, so it made it easier. If you know anything about math he's a great professor. He gives you PLENTY of examples, and if you go the day before the test, he practically tells you what on it, and allows a cheat sheet
Terry Lenker is a great professor. He gives wonderful notes for you to learn from. His tests are not that hard, as long as you study. He is funny and is always there to help you when you need it. He sometimes goes a little fast, but is always there to slow down if you dont understnad the info.
This was the worst math class I have ever taken. Terry Lenker would not give good notes and was not helpful when people asked questions. You can learn better out of the book then from Mr. Lenker. I dropped the class and I am so happy.
couldn't do a problem unless he had all his notes which he pulls straight out of the book and the same for examples. never involves the students in problem solving in the class

I am back in school after 25 years. I would have gotten more information from a stump. I transferred from another university where I had the BEST math prof I could ever imagine to the absolute worst. This man could screw up Einstein!

I don't know what all these people are talking about. I have attended his class almost every day (with the exception of a couple sleep-ins), and I have done real well. Class was 3 days a week. MOST students showed up only on Friday to take the tests/quizzes and WONDER WHY THEY FAILED. Students - in order to do good in it, you MUST GO TO THE CLASS!!
He tells you what section the lecture is going to be on. Quizzes & tests almost exactly resemble the h/w. He adds at least 12 points to tests. I've gotten perfect scores on both so far. The class did drop from about 40 people to 7. I dont know what they were expecting. If you haven't ever had to work hard don't expect to get an A without any effort
One of the worst math teachers i have ever had. Classes consist of jotting down notes verbatum...THE WHOLE TIME. It is credit no credit for quizes and tests so if any part of the problem is wrong your wrong.
HORRIBLE TEACHER
First time this class has been taught in 3 years, and there was no book...Everything we did was from notes, but there were no exams. All homework and quizzes, and quizzes were open notes. Fairly easy course if you get your homework done and go to class every day. Not too bad
His teaching meathods are horrible. All you do is sit in class and take notes. If you have a question, he doesn't help at all! Beware!

Terrible. His notes don't match his tests and quizzes, and he moves so fast in the class its really hard to keep up. He doesn't give partial credit for problems either. Class grade is based on your quizzes and tests, thats it. Don't Take him for 107!!!!!!!
I did not do well in this class because the grade is based on tests and quizzes, and i suck at math!! Terry is a cute old man, and I really enjoyed him, but he isnt the best prof....sorry terry!!
I had his course back in 1980, Terry did a good job and everything was good in his class, helpful when i did not understand things. Scored an A in the class.
i had a terrible time in this class i felt very uncomfortable if i had a question and becuase the homework was not graded and the tests were and quizes were confusing i did not pass. not a good teacher
I wouldnt really call him a teacher. He gives us packets of notes which are pretty much the words from the text book and reads them during class. Worst teacher ive ever had. Went into his office hours and he was no help. Unless you want to end up teaching yourself dont take him!!
Horrible Teacher, Does not explain one thing, and expects everyone to already know the material. The only way to get through his class is to teach yourself and go to the class to see what i covered. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PROF. FOR CLASS!D

I don't know if these other comments are about the same person. Professor Lenker is a great teacher. Of course math is boring, but he explains exerything in great detail and will literally keep trying until YOU understand it. If math isn't your greatest subject, don't leave a good teacher a bad comment. That's rediculous!
I think he is a great professor. I have only had him about a month now, but I think he explains things in a good way for everyone to understand. He also explains things until everyone understands them. He keeps right up with quiz and test schedules and gives them back right away. He also doesn't give points for homework, but goes over how to do eac
He's great. He always has little jokes that you just have to laugh at. He tells stories and his wife and when he was growing up. He even sings sometimes. This class is not hard to pass. Trust me!
I'm pretty sure all those nice comments must have been posted by someone other than a student who actually took his class. We started out the semester with 30 students. But the end, we were down to 6. Students have gone to the math department numerous times with complaints.
Lenker is great in this class, I don't know about the others. This is the most inetresting, easiest math class you'll ever take, and its a group 2B!
This is a very easy class. As long as you take the quix every friday you will do fine. He allows you to use both notes and homework on all the tests and quizes.

homework/attendance isnt required, take home quizzes. 3 tests that arent cummulative. Sometimes dont really know what hes talking about or doing an example of. It is a hard class if you haven't had forms of logic before. i'm an elem. education and am lost half the time. seems helpful if you went to him.
Terry is sweet. This is easier than most high school math classes. You just basically need to go and pay attention. His quizzes are just like the homework that you don't have to do, and his tests are just like the quizzes. There are quizzes almost every Friday so thats the only downside to this class, I highly recommend it.
I love this class! He is an amazing prof and I have yet to get lost on any of the topics! If you go to class, and take notes, you will get an A. You get to use all notes and the book on the tests and quizzes
He is such an amazing professor. The class is extremely easy if you go to class and take notes. All homework assignments are optional; he goes over them in class and doesn't collect them. All homework assignments and notes can be used on all quizzes and tests.
He was a great professor! I failed math all throughout high school but pass his class with a high C. You got to use all your notes on all the quizzes and tests. The homework was not mandatory, neither was attendance, but it helped to be there to get the notes. I still suck at math and can't say I really learned much, but the class was fun and easy!
Man this guy is still teaching??? I had him back in the mid 90's when I went to CMU and after I graduated in 96 I can easily say he was the hardest professor I had, and when of the worst teachers. He probably KNOWS math, but he does'nt know how to teach it. Over 2/3 of my classmates dropped out of the class. And I worked my ass off for a C!
