What a great teacher. Really related to the class with real life experiences. he is a small business owner himself and a consultant and so he tells you problems that some small businesses run into. would highly recommend him. BEST TEACHER I HAVE HAD AT ISU!!!! weekly online quizes are easy. tests are not bad.. group projects are graded easily
Fantastic teacher! He makes class interesting. I was never bored. He uses real world examples which are excellent in helping to understand the material. The tests and quizzes kind of suck, but the class itself is great. I'd highly recommend taking him for a course.
Best teacher I have ever had. With this guy you want to go to class. He doesn't lecture at all you do group activities and he tells real life stories. I recommend taking him if you have an elective open! You actually get TAUGHT and LEARN things in this class every day!!
Wow! I'd rank him in the top two or three professors i've taken in my 168 credit hours. He's a business consultant so he knows business...he treats you with respect and as a future business owner. Read book and take online quizzes every week...every thing's straight forward and interesting. Wish he was teaching more upper level courses.
Recruiting and selection should be interesting but it's not the way he teaches it. He makes it very mechanical. And you buy a brand new book only to use it for quizes and then the bookstore barely gave me any money back for it. He is not helpful on the project and the only thing I enjoyed was the guest speakers.
One of my favorite teachers and very very helpful for anything you might need!
A very caring and helpful instructor.
One of my favorite teachers I've had in college. He deffinitely makes the class interesting and treats students with respect. I would reccommend students take this class as a business elective if that are not part of the entrepreneurial sequence!
Share the textbook with someone else, and get your own online access code. No need to have your own. It is not beneficial to read the book. The quizzes are super easy. Lots of papers and a group project/presentation. Great in-class stories and mandatory attendance.
Easiest class I ever took. The only thing that is remotely bad is that attendance is mandatory. Besides that if you do not get an A then i feel sorry for you. Terry is a great teacher and will help you with anything. He grades really easy.
By far, the best professor I have ever had at Illinois State. He's interesting and really cares about his students. Do the work and quizzes and you'll be fine. More importantly, you'll really get something out of his class.
Great teacher. The project was ABSOLUTELY ridiculously hard and not clear at all! However, he curves at the end. Only 1 midterm and 1 final. Make sure to use the books for every online quiz; these make up a huge portion of your grade (and they're easy!!). Great guy but the class was harder than it needed to be. With enough work it's easy.
Terry Lowe is the man! At first he may seem monotone and boring, but he is possibly the most interesting man at ISU. He teaches relative things that will ACTUALLY help you in live. Highly recommend Terry.
Sm. Bus. Mgmt. was one of the best classes I've had so far and Terry Lowe is a great teacher. What we talk about in class is actually relevant and will get you thinking critically. The textbook stuff is left for us to do outside of class and there is quite a bit but its manageable. I purchased narrarated slides on the website for $10, not the book.
Favorite teacher at ISU by far! Take any class you can with him, you will be happy you did!
Contrary to most of the positive ratings on here, this professor was, in my opinion awful. He seemed very nice at the beginning of the semester, but the class turned out to be harder than everyone expected. Pointless Connect homework, impossible in class tests, unclear assignments, etc.
T. Lowe is a great teacher. He is fun in class and keeps things interesting. He has a lot of knowledge about business and his class was pretty easy. I would highly recommend.
The only thing hard about this class is the online work. Connect homework/quizzes/and tests were very hard but not impossible. The in class work and papers were extremely easy. He is a very nice and funny person too. He's a little bit monotone though...
Great Teacher. Very engaging. Has a lot of great stories to tell and keeps class interesting. I would highly recommend taking him for Business 100.
Great Professor. Keeps class interesting. I would highly recommend taking a class with him.
great prof. explained things well, was clear, and even cracked some jokes here and there. recommend taking him! :)
Best MQM teacher to take. The online assignments include quizzes, homework, and exams. Not difficult to do well on. Knows a lot and keeps class fun. It's not a difficult class, used the textbook for online exams and gives you a study guide for the in class ones that are based on handouts from class, easy tests. Easy class but you learn a lot too
This professor was very nice and did care about what grades you had. The only problem was the connect quizzes and test that were very difficult. The in class tests were a little hard but if you study very well before the test you can do well.
T. Lowe is a good teacher, very personable. His class can be boring and redundant at times, filled with busy work and stupid CONNECT online hw. Overall I would take again because it was an easy B if not A. Sometimes he treats you like your in elementary school with fill in the blank tests. Take him!
Professor Lowe is the best! He is super knowledgeable and experienced when it comes to management and is very interesting to listen to. A majority of your work is done online, which is super easy as long as you have the book. Attendance is optional, but he occasionally does in-class exercises that are worth points. Definitely take him if you can.
Great professor. Dry sense of humor. Uses relevant stories to keep students interested. Grading is based on 2 fairly easy projects, 4 tests, and online homework/quizzes. Do the work required and you'll get an A in the class. Terry Lowe is the man for MQM220 - take him and I'm sure you'll leave with a greater outlook on life.
Terry Lowe is a great teacher. He uses both his experience in the work place as a manager and the textbook to teach. Very interesting man. Class does require some work both online and papers to turn in. You are also assigned to a group community in which you discuss different topics. Not a big fan of management but Lowe makes it worthwhile!
Terry Lowe is the best professor I've ever had. Lots of real-world experience and stories. I always left the class feeling like I learned a lot, and it was hardly ever boring. Really cares about his students and wants to help them succeed. Most of the grade is from online tests, quizzes, and homework, and you can use your ebook during all of them!
Surprisingly great professor. Kind of monotone, but has great real life stories. I enjoy his lectures. He has his own lectures, and then the book has its own study material and quizzes, so tests are always two parts, online and in class. You're put in a learning community group which has some projects and discussions with peers. Pretty easy course.
I've had him for BUS100. Liked him then, like him now. Great teacher. Gives email reminders for assignments due. Online hw is super easy. Gives out a study guide; tests are identical to them. Lectures aren't anything special, but I don't dread going. Overall, easy class. I'd recommend him for sure.
Terry Lowe is hands down my favorite professor at ISU. He is always willing to help out his students. However, he can be a bit monotonous sometimes but really keeps the class interesting and uses guided notes. If you come to class, fill in the guided notes, and participate with your group you will easily pass. Definitely recommend him!
Great professor. Has really good stories that relate to the class and can be very funny. I'd say one of the better MQM 220 professors. Easy B if not A and the tests are really easy and based off the study guide. Also I recommend getting the online book so that while taking the online portion of the tests you can look up the questions.
AWESOME teacher, honestly. Really nice guy, knows a lot about management and he tries to share as much information as possible. All exams are online and open book. Hardest part was to interview a manager/owner. Attend the class to obtain the material and you will absolutely pass this class.
This prof. is for anyone who struggles with one-dimension classrooms, staying focused and being engaged. Lowe provides a dynamic learning environment, friendship, correlating stories, cutting edge material, genuine interest in the subject, and insurmountable experience to justify classroom principle. A lost symbol in what it means to be a teacher.
He is one of the best teachers I have had at ISU. He knows his subject material and relates it to real life situations. He knows what he is talking about and is genuinely there for his students. Everyone should take a class with him
Professor Lowe is a brilliant man who has a lot to offer his students. He gives real life examples and almost always has a story to tell about any concept to make it clearer. He has years of experience in the management field so you can learn a ton from him. I would highly recommend anyone take Lowe for any classes you can.
Take BUS 100 with Terry L. Such a helpful and nice professor. Honestly has been the best proffesor so far! Quizzes are online. There is not a lot of homework and if there is it is easy!!
He was in the real Business world and knows what he's talking about. Would totaly get life advice from him as well as take more of his classes.
I LOVED this class. He sends out a follow up e-mail after every class to remind you of upcoming due dates. All quizzes are open-notebook. His notes are very helpful to pass. There are a couple writing assignments and projects, but the directions are straightforward. If you e-mail him, he will respond in minutes. His gives personal stories.
Terry is one of the best teachers i've had at ISU so far. He is incredibly nice and knows exactly what he is talking about. He understands that all of us in his class are freshman and have to take his class so he doesn't take it too seriously. Only a few assignments and about 3 tests.
Great man, who respects and helps out his students. I made the mistake of missing a few lectures and it cost me severely on his in-classroom exams. A few things I disliked was having a major grade being determined by your peers in the class, as well as the interviews being graded based on the best grade in the class being the only 100.
Terry Lowe is a great Business 100 teacher. His lectures are easily understood as he gives real life stories that are extremely interesting and funny. There are a lot of online assignments and a few projects. If you have any questions on the assignments, he will respond to emails within minutes. Do the work and you should get an A.
Terrible teacher and he doesn't actually teach you. You have to learn everything on your own and going to class is pointless because he just gets sidetracked and ends up telling stories about him getting mad at people, but you have to go because he assigns projects and assignments randomly.
Professor Lowe is a very entertaining teacher. He recognizes that this is only an introductory course and has much knowledge on all topics. He tells funny stories a lot to relate to the lesson, and is very responsive to emails. Almost all the work is online too.
Overall a great professor. I would take him again for another course if I get the chance. There are a lot of assignments due in the class but they are not that difficult. There are a few larger projects and a group project but its not as bad as it sounds.
He is so funny. His stories really make class interesting, but attendence is not mandatory.
Going to class is dumb. You talk about useless things that don't pertain to any homework, quizzes, or tests. Only reason to go is for "participation" or "attendance." Would not recommend
In my opinion I did not think this class was that easy. Too much information for a fill in the blank test with no word bank or anything followed by an online test (which was not easy at all) Total of 6 tests in this class. However, there are some easy points for assignments that he does give out. Good guy, boring class, can be difficult.
If you have to take this class, take it with someone else. He seemed pretty knowledgable, but he assigned so much pointless homework. His quizzes had multiple choice answers that had more than one right answer. His fill in the blank tests were ridiculous because you essentially have to memorize all notes taken.
Very nice and knowledgeable professor, but doesn't teach much information related to the course or tests. Assigns a lot of work, although it's not too hard. He gives two projects that are pointless, but easy. A nice class if you are a freshman, but anything after it's just an unnecessary burden.
Super nice guy that definitely knows what he's talking about. He gives a ton of homework that's all on Quizlet. Has quizzes based off of handouts in class so you should probably go. A lot of work for a lower level class, others taking the course with different professors say they have it easier
If you're looking for an easy A, look elsewhere. This teacher makes you work for the grade you want, and it isn't easy. . BUY THE TEXTBOOK. It's your key to success. Reading the textbook. Classroom exams are fill in the blank and harder than anything I've ever taken, so spend a lot of time with that. Also group projects are huge. Cool guy though.
I do not recommend this class/professor to anyone. He is a good guy, but I do not like the way he teaches it. All of his tests are extremely hard and gives SO much homework & quizzes
So for BUS 100 Terry supposedly makes it very easy but he does not do this for MQM 220. I thought he tried to make an easy class unnecessarily difficult, everyone else in MQM 220 said it was a blowoff. Tests were fill-in-the-blank heavy and rather than memorizing concepts we were memorizing individual, insignificant words within concepts.
Brilliant professor with lots of real-world knowledge and application. Really hard class. There's a quiz almost every week, open book and open note. READ THE BOOK. There's two projects, and one of them is a huge group project that you do NOT want to procrastinate on. The exams are all essay and are really hard, but he gives you a studyguide.
If you enjoy traditional learning and actually getting the information needed, take a different professor. Encourages "listening" instead of writing for notes. Tests on minor details and opinions, but if you don't use his opinions, it's not right. Most stressful class I have taken at ISU. Lost hair, lost sleep, lost sanity.
Professor Lowe was a great teacher. He gave great real life examples for the class to connect the content in which we were learning about. There is one group project that is a good portion of your grade but if you have the right group it really isn't that bad. There are also very few homework assignments if not none.
Honestly one of the best professors I have ever had at ISU. Really cares about his subject, and brings in alot of personal experiences to everything we do. His projects were not hard, and really gave you an idea of what to expect in the real world. He was awesome, and really cared about your feedback as well. Would take another course with him!
Terry Lowe is overqualified, guy should be teaching at an ivy league school, learned a lot of real world experience I will use in the professional world. Super intellectual, take this class if you want to learn something useful.
Incredibly overqualified and it shows from day one, he gets all information you need to pass and his tests are directly the information you go over or "situational questions" that he gives you information for. He's able to field any questions beyond effectively and brings in guest speakers to help.
MQM 220 with lowe is the least applicable class I have ever taken. Information is purely subjective and tests are nothing but specific memorization. Avoid.
Terry is one of the best professors ive ever had. super smart and overqualified for his position. the class is easy if you do the short online hw's and come to class. lots of valuable real world advice and stories. 10/10 recommend
Great class. I would have gotten an A but missed assignments in the beginning because of problems at the start of the semester. You don't meet every week. Very independent work. Easy A if you do all the work.
Mostly MyLab work and a group project at the end. Not a hard group project. Paying attention and taking notes will help tremendously on the exams.
Attendance is not for a grade but definitely show up to get the notes. Notes can be used on the two tests given in the class. 1 big group project (pretty difficult but manageable), mini project, a few assignments and almost weekly online quizzes (very easy). Very nice teacher as I had multiple times, structure is similar for each class.
Awesome professor. He is a little monotone and lectures can be boring but he is clear about the material and what will be in the exams. Homework is online and very easy. Take him and its an easy class to where you can focus on your other courses more. Half of the time you dont even meet in the classroom and just have online work that takes 15 min
Professor Lowe is by far the greatest professor I've ever had. His lectures are very interesting, and class isn't a typical lecture that you struggle to sit through. You'll actually learn a lot, he teaches through his own stories. Be prepared to do lots of busywork every week, but it helps your grade a lot. Tests aren't too bad as long as you study
Professor Lowe is a fantastic Professor. He is such a credible source of knowledge, and only gives students assignments that will help them. He gives a lot of homework, but none of it is busy work. If you study for the three exams, you should at least get a B. Definitely a professor worth taking.
Professor Lowe is very knowledgeable but his lectures are very boring. Each week you have a few simple assignments to complete. There are 3 tests including the final which are open-note and fully based on his lectures. There is one group presentation and individual paper. Overall very simple but he is very strict on how he grades (look at rubric).
After meeting with Terry Lowe, I had to give my first rating on this website. I had a borderline grade and he consulted with me and made me feel prepared for my exam. He is also extremely knowledgeable about the business world. All around one of the best professors I have had the opportunity of speaking with
Professor Lowe is by far the most professional instructor I've ever taken. His lectures are very applicable to the business world, and use a lot of real world examples rather than copy/paste PowerPoints. His tests can tough, but I reached out to him and he gave great help and I did well. This was a class I feel I took a lot away and learned lots.
Ngl this class is tough. He is very monotone during lectures, but gives notes with blanks for you to fill in.Only two tests which are open note, but they are short answer and it's a lot to do in the time. Two projects that he waits to explain until halfway through the semester which made the second half awful. One giant group project & presentation
Not the best but certainly not the worst. Overall, not a bad choice for the course, and you'll learn a lot of really cool info about the real world. Class is tough though. Easy homework but difficult-ish exams. Put a decent amount of time into studying for exams, and GO TO CLASS!!! Important info that WILL be on the tests is covered in class
You don't meet everyday for class but when you do meet it's important to go as he gives out test information. He talks about interesting things that you can use going into your career and he is there to help with things even if they don't relate to class. Tests can be hard but if you study and go to class you should be okay. Would retake his class.
Must Take! He is very knowledgeable about the past and present HR world and it shows. His lectures are interesting and he gives you notes to take during them. Tests are usually open notes so as long as you go to class listen and take notes you will pass. Group project at the end of semester is easy and isn't big. Overall great class to be in.
Professor Lowe is a good professor; however, IT students and Cyber majors avoid this guy at all costs. He does make you do the textbook work. You better not miss that as he is very unforgiving. He knows the industry inside and out. I would go to this man for advice but never be a student in his class. Exams are 50% of your grade weight.
dont know why this professor is rated so high, the revel work is ridiculous and extremely hard and it is what caused my grade to flunk. the exams are in person and extremely difficult cos their is always two right answers on the multiple choice part. i never have trouble with school but this class did it to me. do not take him if u want alot ofwork
The class is easy, understand the basic principle and your fine. However, he does not believe in any sort of extra credit since he thinks it's unfair. He will not take any consideration in late work or accidents. Opinionated and has a slight tendency to talk down to people within the lecture or if you ask a question or concern after class.
The homework was easy, but dude gave so much textbook homework, sometimes he gives you sufficient time, but other times he gives you like 1 full day to complete which is unacceptable because we take other classes and some work as well. Nonetheless, his exams are pretty easy, as long as you look over the chapters and the flashcards you'll do fine.
Professor Lowe is probably my favorite professor at ISU. He is so knowledgable about management from years of experience, and his lectures are filled with interesting stories that relate perfectly to the material. This class has a lot of online homework, but its really helpful as it translates directly to the test. This is the way to go for MQM 220
Notes are fill-in the blank, done in class with the lectures. 2exams, can use notes/book, short-essay, usually scenario based, which I found difficult especially with timing. Hybrid class, days classes were not in person you had an assignment due, easy. Quizzes every week, easy. Book was sometimes used. 1group project, easy. He had many stories
Lots of homework with online revel. Easy exams. Fine lectures. Not the most interesting class but its easy enough. Take with Lowe
Might as well have taken a self-paced course. 90% of the class was the Pearson textbook. Most of the time we didn't have class even though it's called an in-person course. When we did, it was mostly him giving us premade notes and telling us what words to fill in the blanks with on them. I liked his personal stories, but they were 1% of the class.
This was the most boring class I have taken. He is very monotoned and lectures using a note sheet with fill in the blanks and relies on Pearson to teach you 90% of the material. This course was so self explanatory and his exams were made to be difficult for no reason, find a different professor.
there was an excessive amount of textbook work for this class, and sometimes there was only a day or two to do it, so you'd forget. other times there was a week. lectures were pretty good.
Had Prof Lowe for MGT220. It was a hybrid class and he would send announcements every week about what days we'd be in class and what days were online. Most homework is online through REVEL.He was very organized in planning our coursework. However, he was a strict grader for exams. For the short answer questions, you had to have EXACT answers.
Barely ever has class. There is a lot of homework every week but it isn't very difficult. Lots of busy work. Surprisingly I was able to pass with an A.
Tough Professor but class is good. It is a little tough but if you put the work in, you can get a good grade. Tests were a little challenging but its college so get used to it. I enjoyed his course.
He is the most monotone professors ever. He's SO unorganized, I've missed multiple assignments because of this and I can never find anything I need in Canvas. His tests are hard for no reason and he's a harsh grader. I don't recommend him- take this class with a different professor. No other professor makes this class as difficult as he does.
This is one of the hardest classes I have taken and he will push you academically, but you get so much out of it. he wont spare you of anything, good bad and ugly of HR. always has the student's best interest in mind and creates assignments to better you. Its easy to get discouraged in the thick of it but you learn so much. very responsive to email
Professor Lowe is a very professional and respected professor. There is weekly assignments due, at least once a week class is hybrid with assignment due. Midterm and Final are fairly easy, lets you bring notes to use. Overall, great teacher.
