The best professor in the CRJ dept. He is an expert in his field, and you will leave his class much better prepared to take upper division CRJ classes. Take him if at all possible, his classes are always entertaining.
I really enjoy this guy. He is good at what he does!
he is easily assumed, he makes jokes in class.. he knows alot about the subject. you'll learn something in his class. i took it over the summer the test are too bad and when he says essay questions its not really essay questions more like answer it
One of the top statisticians in the state of Nevada, first take his CRJ 301 class, then take him in CRJ 302,once you take both classes then you will see why I suggested that you take both classes with him. Excellent instructor who knows his information.
meithe rambles too much, he thinks he funny, and he'll tell you, and sometimes he is, but sometimes that keeps him from being a good teacher. he talkes about completely irrelevant things, about himself. his test are too vague and alot of work.
He doesn't stay on topic. the subjects he teaches could be interesting if he actually taught. He's a nice guy and the class isn't too hard, just hard to follow him.
Great teacher with lots of stories that actually do relate to class, regardless of the other comments on here. His tests are more difficult than average, but he gives you the chance to argue the questions you miss.
This professor is one of the best in his field. He knows what he's talking about and the stories are usually relevant to the material he's teaching. In order to do well in his classes, you have to show up to class, read the book, and do all of the assignments.
Dr. Miethe is a great teacher -- his tests may be a little more difficult than others, but you really feel like you're learning the information -- isn't that the point anyway? Definitely passionate about his field and one of the best I've had at UNLV.
I like the guy. He seems funny to me. Very personable and easy to talk to. He knows his stuff and takes a genuine interest in students. I had him for Quantitative Analysis and the resource manual was totally foreign to me even though I have a Stats background. Overall, he is easy as hell..just do your daggone work and you will see what I mean!
Professor Miethe is an excellent professor. His tests can be a little difficult but he allows you to correct the one's you got wrong and then gives you the full points back if they are correct. This teacher is really great about helping students. Highly recommended.
my favorite teacher ever. this guy is hilarious. this class was by far my favorite part of the day. i'd come just to see what he'd say that day. also very knowledgable in subject matter and fair. highly recommend this class.
Miethe is a great professor that knows his stuff like the back of his hand. I would recommend him to any CRJ student!
Meithe has very hard tests, although he's funny, he needs to focus on the class material more than his personal life experiences.
Had him online for stats and it was AWFUL! He seems like a nice guy, but didn't do much good explaining tough mathematical concepts. Wouldn't recommend him for stats, but he might be better in other CRJ classes.

Fun, interesting, not too hard. Nice guy.
This is the best class by far I've ever taken from a CRJ professor. His stories alone make me want to show up for class even on the days when you don't want to get out of bed. I highly recomend him
This professor is the best one I have had yet. He makes the class GREAT to go to! I would definatelly take his class again. You also get a great chance to pass the class!
Had him for stats adn serial killers. Very likeable and really cares about his students. He allows you to argue for points on tests, which is great and is very knowledgeable about CRJ.
I'm not a criminal justice major, but I took his class on serial killers as an elective, and I really enjoyed the class and having him as a professor. He is a really great professor and he's funny too. And, yes, he does care about the students.
A decent professor, I personally don't think he's as great as some others make him out to be. I got an A but had to work HARD for it. He spends so much time talking himself he doesn't have time to explain the materials in depth, though he can be interesting I would recomend taking another rof is you can, but don't flip if you get stuck with him
Great teacher and willing to help with ANYTHING. Though he may go off subject every once in a while, its only to keep you interested in the lecture. He is very clear in whatever the subject is, and if not, he is very willing to help outside of class.
This professor is great. His class lectures are fun and interesting. First class I've taken and not wanted to fall asleep. He lets you justify answers on test, with your explaination as to why you feel your right. Awesome Professor you will learn a few things from him.
He's pretty good.... He's corny and loves to be a comedian so his classes are quite entertaining. His tests and his lectures are a breeze. Go to all his lectures and take good notes and you'll do fine. Most of his material is from the lectures and the class book he makes you buy that UNLV made. It's good cause everything in it is what he uses.
His lecture is a very interested topics. However, he teachs the material differently than other professors, it was hard to understand, it was unclear, the test was hard but the quizs and pop quizes were fair. Most students ended up with "C". A lot of reading, 3-4 books if you want to get a B or higher. He donesn't lecture along with the books.
This class was the hardest A that I have earned at UNLV. Read the chapters and do the problems at the end of each chapter. The math is not that hard, just basic formulas.
This class was not easy, but not horrible, the topic itself sucks, but he acknowledges that and helps make it better. If you are not understanding something, GO see him, he is SO helpful and makes things soo much clearer if you need it. Worht taking 302 with.
Good teacher-funny-not as easy as expected though. You have to come to class and read the books to do well. Only 3 exams-2nd one is hardest but he lets you argue your answers to get points back. I will take other classes with him.
He is a great teacher. If you go to class and pay attention then you will do fine. He even tells you when things he says will be on the test. This man knows alot of information. His jokes are cute and funny. He is also a nice person outside the class, willing to help you out to get a good grade, Take his class its worth it!!!
He is a great professor. Some of the test questions were a bit ambigouos..but it just forces you to study a bit more. His lectures are very interesting and funny, I enjoyed going to class. I got a B in the class..and it wasn't easy. But I do recommend this professor.
his lectures are interesting but dont seem to teach anything, he gives notes at the begining of the year as one of the books you have to buy, but they are vauge and dont help that much
this class wasn't amazing but it wasnt terrible either. his lectures are interesting but often drawn out. his tests can be difficult, but he gives you the chance to argue your answers and he is pretty approachable. he genuinely wants people to do well and he tries to make class interesting with little funny stories. dont dread taking this class!
Terrible teacher. If you ask for help or meet with him all you get is the lecture that he gave. Helpfulness is non-existant.
ok, so right off the bat he's not all there... a odd guy but cool. His class will not be an easy A, or even a B BUT.... If u study right and do the readying from E-reseves u should be fine... in the bigging of class he say its easy to get a B but hard to get an A.. not really True.... but he does give u a chance to justify your answers on test
As some will tell you he is a hard teacher. In all though he is a very intelligent guy and you can definitely learn a lot from him. Study the material and know what your talking about. Listen when he lectures and pay attention because he tells you when to write things down that are important. Hard to get an A but easily able to get a B.
He seems funny and eccentric at first but the novelty soon wears off. Listen to what he says and know his position on things because it will show up in test questions in some way or another. Overall though he's a pretty good teacher and his exams/grading policy are fair.
Very intelligent, always had very detailed answers for questions. You really don't need any of the textbooks for this class, just listen to the lectures and read e-reserves. Lets you argue certain test answers, easy to get a couple more points on each test if you took good notes.
Meithe is Rad!!! This cat is great to listen to. I came to class just cuz he sounds like Chris Rock (although he's white). I would sit in class and laugh. He knows his stuff and is willing to chat after class if you have good questions. His tests decently easy, if you've paid attention to the lectures or read his books. All around good prof.
Hes a nice guy but the class is pretty hard. Def go and take notes. Books are used quite a bit. Dont be afraid to ask him for help
Hard to follow lectures. Strict attendance policy. If you want an easy A stay away from this professor.
I took this class online, it was very difficult, but not the professors fault, material is difficult, he does give opportunities for partial extra credit on missed questions on the exam.
Dr. Miethe is an amazing Professor. If you want a easy A, don't take him, got get a lower quality education. If you do take him, You will learn alot and your interest in the feild will be expanded.
I took him online and its very hard to understand the material. He wrote the test book that is used and its not very helpful. I would not recommend taking this class online.
Very interesting teacher..... The topic of the class sucks and he tells you in advance but he tells all the symptoms of serial killers and then tells you he did or does some of that behavior...kinda creepy..The biggest weird thing was that he said he gets into bar fights..It scared me and I never got comforttable around him,but good teacher overall
He is verbally abusive and impatient to those who are not smart as he is and not a quick learner in statistics.
I took it over the summer, not a hard class he would give a quiz at the end of the week 10 t/f question so that's the only odd thing also a research paper. he like people who show interest, also should review ahead for his test good class and far grader, will try to help you if your at the border of a grade.
I took this online and, had to work my butt off for my grade, I even had to go to get extra help. BUT IT"S one of those classes that no matter who you take it will still be a challenge " the class itself is hard" the professor I don't really think it makes much of a difference. but online you should do the h/w
The class was interesting, it would have been better if a different professor taught the course. We had 5 True/False tests once a week, and 1 research paper to write. Dr. Miethe is an okay professor but I didn't like him. There are other CRJ professors that I would take instead of Miethe.
I found out after taking his statistic's class ONLINE... that other professors in different department i.e. psychology, business admin etc. have all stated that STATISTICS SHOULD "NEVER" BE AN ONLINE COUSRE" - pretty much like taking CLINICAL NURSING COURSE ONLINE. His book IS BY FAR THE WORST..IN TERMS OF STEPS IN MATH..
The professor is helpful but the subject matter is extreamly complex.
Miethe is great! 5 T/F quizzes and he drops the lowest score. As long as u somewhat pay attention and do a small review before the quiz is an easy A. Miethe is a nice guy who makes fun of himself and others(people who posted ridiculous ratings about him)... he makes this interesting topic even more interesting. Ur a knucklehead if u cant get an A
Dr. Miethe is incredibly intelligent and knows a lot about Crime, and theories of crime. Along with this knowledge he teaches his class professionally and has fun during the class as well. He is very good with explaining to you why he thinks every report study is inaccurate and he will also let you know why and explain everything easily and clearly
wonderful class. I have never learned so much with so little effort. the subject is engaging and Miethe keeps it 100% interesting. My favorite professor i've had in college thus far.
Miethe is a great teacher. He definitely has a big personality. I learned a lot in this class though and really appreciated his help throughout the course. I was on the brink of an A and he gave me the chance to argue my case on the wrong answers and I ended up with an A. I worked hard in this class and attended every lecture but it was worth it!
I kind of wish I focused more in class & wish i took more exams & assignments(although having them due on a friday at 1159pm is asking for trouble! Why not have them due same time on sundays?). He is a bit of an exaggerator. He makes stories up. there is no way as much stuff happened to me as he claims has happened... a little over the top!!!
Professor Miethe is one of, if not the, worst professors I have ever had. He constantly tells meaningless stories about his life which, unlike other professors who have worked in the field, are completely unrelated to the class. He knowingly puts t/f questions on tests that can have both answers. Unless you like narcissistic professors, AVOID HIM!
I agree with the person below me. He just goes on and on telling stories that don't even relate to class. With the tests, he said he supposedly is trying to write questions that aren't "tricky" but they are such long questions it is hard to understand by the time you are finished reading the question.
This professor is EASY, so long as students study and read the required material. His stories are pretty interesting and he tells them for a reason (attention span of students is SHORT). His tests come straight from the lecture and reading material... so students, quit slacking and STUDY!
Class was easy and interesting. He is an amazing teacher. I took him for 270 and 325 and I think he is part of the reason I kept my major as CRJ. Just attend class and review notes and you will get an A
Dr. Miethe is awesome. He is so funny and keeps the class interested with his stories. I took his serial killers & sexual predators class (CRJ 325) over the summer and was so happy to have him for CRJ 270. Definitely take him if you can. Make sure you read the book, come to class and you should be fine. :) Thanks or another awesome semester Miethe!
He was a GREAT professor he was very HELPFUL all you had to do was take the time out of your day to meet with him
Knowledgeable professor. His CD book was great: print it, highlight important points, have it handy to help for on-line tests (5 total, drops lowest, each: 20 questions/15 min to take/10 points of class's 100 total pts), a couple tricky questions. READ, you should be ok. 1 point each for attendance & homework(easy), 20 pt comprehensive exam.
Awesome Proff with a good sense of humor. easy to talk to. encourages class interaction. Pay attention in class and read the book. AKA his book which is easy reading. wish i would have taken his classes sooner. Thank you Miethe. best proff ive had in a while.
Online summer. Class can be challenging, but GO see him in office if need help. Material focuses more on why statistics is used (stat applications in criminology scenarios on his tests), not so much how, but still need to know how to do basics. Need to do only basic calculations for couple questions on 20 question tests. 5 on-line tests: 40 min.
Miethe is definitely a professor I will not miss. He tells senseless stories he claims are to get the class to stay awake and pay attention but they are boring and half the class doesn't care anyway. I did not learn much and he doesn't even clarify anything that we should know for our exams. Do yourself a favor a DO NOT TAKE HIM.
To sum him up he thinks he's funny by calling himself fat or meatball but he is not. He is truly just a fat meatball. Not the type of professor everyone likes he is a story teller for 60 minutes and a professor for the last 15.
Terry Miethe is a great criminal justice professor that I look forward to taking again. While I'm not sure if all his stories are true, he can definitely relate them to the area of crime we are learning about and make it interesting and clear. The people who complained about the clarity of the class must of not read the syllabus.
Dr. Miethe's class is challenging but if you attend class every day, take down lecture notes he provide, and read the book then you will pass the class guaranteed. By midterms I was failing his class but he not only helped me but gave me the chance to raise my grade in order to pass. One of his exams I got a F and he helped me bumped it up to a B+.
the lecture and online readings are easy but the tests are hard! However, he gives every student the opportunity to raise their grade. Very helpful and he actually cares about his students who are failing.
Some days, he's actually funny, and the other days, he's kind of irritating. He is very knowledgeable, which helps.
Go to classes, visit in office and read read read. The lectures are out of control, the book on the other hand was more than useful!
Very Hard Class if you don't read. Luckily he is aware that there is much material to cover so he doesn't waste time making the test questions extra hard. If you read his book you will do well. Very active on the web as well. He has reminders for all assignments and exams and keeps students updated on results of each.
Prof wrote the digital textbook, & reading is mandatory to pass. Weekly EASY assignment and quiz every other week. Quiz comes directly from the text - cannot pass without reading. 20q, 20 mins. Prof always available for chat, and gives weekly reminders. Boring because it's just all reading, but pretty straightforward.
I took 302 online. Prof seemed to really care. Sent out weekly emails encouraging students to come by his office with any questions. Screwed myself over by not buying the text until the midterm. <--Not the greatest idea for this course! Buy the book. Read the book. You will be fine.
Was a CRJ major but changed my major after this class. Realized it wasn't for me. He can funny but every single class he got off topic w/ his life stories. His powerpoints are all over the place, too, so it's up to you to read. Doesn't tell you what to study for the final, just that there are 20 questions randomly from 21 chapters.
Dr. Miethe is one of the best – a bit quirky; but very interactive and approachable. 20Q exam every week (T/F). Read the book (which he wrote), attend class (for extra credit), and study – easy A! Also gives students a chance to argue for their “wrong” answers on exams (gives ½ credit for valid arguments). Great professor & class!
He really cares and is so helpful and nice. He let's you do oral make up exams when you don't do well, he just wants you to try.
Even though this class is challenging, he gives you every opportunity for extra help & even lets you make up points if you explain what you did wrong. GO SEE HIM if you need help & you will succeed. I got a 96A from following his note-taking guides, doing the assignments multiple times like he suggests, and going in or calling for extra help.
It's all reading and assignments and there is no extra credit. However, if you can justify why you got something wrong on a test, he will give you credit for it. I would've failed 302 without him and his leniency. He's really chill and even if he sees you making an effort, he will help you and give you credit for as much as possible.
Best instructor I've had at UNLV. Lectures are hilarious and informative. Textbook (which he wrote) is short and straightforward. Exams are online. They are not difficult, but you only get 20 minutes so be prepared. If you miss an exam question you can talk to him. Justify your answer and you get credit. Offers extra credit for regular attendance.
Overall, I had no problems with this professor until the very end of the semester. He seemed to be there for students and offered a lot of help. However at the end of the semester he is useless. I got a 91%, but for some reason he recorded my grade as a B when he submitted grades. I tried contacting him countless times and never received a response
I took CRJ 270 online. The class consisted for a short assignment due every week, which were very easy, and 5 exams. He drops your lowest exam which is nice. His tests were a little though. He makes you earn your grade, but he is very helpful. He offers oral exams to increase your grade on an exam.
Not too hard but the exams are tough.
Professor Miethe was a great professor! He was always available for help. Professor Miethe made it difficult if not impossible for anyone to fail. Definitely an interesting class!
Miethe is a great guy; I got to know him a bit before the end of this semester thanks to a fateful encounter with a Frisbee. There are 6 tests (all easy, 20 questions) and 15 weekly homework assignments (each eats up about ten minutes). 90% attendance grants 3 extra credit points, which is useful for making up that pesky Friday homework. Easy A.
Miethe is a funny guy. As long as you read and follow the syllabus you should do well. He is the author of the textbook. All in all super easy to follow can be tedious at times but take notes and you will pass the quizzes. All of the quizzes are online.
Weekly assignments - pass or fail. 3-4 tests. They are about 15-25 questions long and timed. They are all easy except for one is very tough but he drops the lowest. He assigns long readings sometimes and will asks question about them on his exams. He emails you every week with feedback and deadline. Read online textbook and weekly readings.
He's a good professor. Really knows what he's talking about. Funny guy. Tests are pretty hard. Really need to know the info to pass. Questions are tricky. All answers could be correct. I'm a CRJ major and the class stressed me out a bit. Take notes from book and just listen to lectures. Has funny stories and experiences. All around good professor.
In the online course the only assignments I had were exams. Professor Miethe was very helpful. After taking each exam you are allowed to talk with him about some of the questions you missed in hopes of receiving make-up points. He's very good about getting back to you and offers notes for student that need extra help.
Very funny instructor. You have to keep up with the work, but it's not a heavy load. Fill out a packet and do a hw assignment every week. Online exam every 3 weeks. The material is not hard, and he will let you challenge exam questions by explaining why you chose the answer you chose. If he understands your explanation, he'll give credit. Some EC.
His 302 class is basically an online class even though it is a mandatory lecture attendance is 10 percent but I never went and still pulled an A, if you do your homework assignments each week and do the practice problems for the exam there is no reason you shouldn't get an A. Everything is online including the tests.
Amazing Professor! He is really generous. If you felt that an exam was confusing or didn't make sense he'll give you a verbal exam. Very passionate about his job. Strongly suggest taking him for CRJ 270, I'll definitely take him for CRJ 302.
Awesome professor! Would recommend this class to non-majors as well. He is super funny and knowledgeable. Also, you have to really try to fail this class. Take it, you wont regret it.
Awesome professor. Easy to communicate with and gives you a chance to improve your test grade if you did poorly. Reading his book is a must it will go over everything, while in class he goes over some points but he can get off topic. I would take him again.
Great guy! Gets off topic, but is very knowledgeable & really cares for his students. Its very hard to fail in my opinion. Just keep up with the reading (chapters aren't too long tbh) and you will pass. Gives assignments every Friday and has 5 exams & a cumulative final. If you miss under three classes you get extra credit. Honestly a fun class!
Serial killers is an interesting topic, but you do need to show up to class and read the book. Weekly quizzes and mandatory attendance. Nothing too difficult. Myth knows his stuff and cares about the students. He likes to get off topic, but his stories are interesting and help with the material. I love Miethe so much.
Professor Miethe is a great instructor! He is helpful, and funny, and if you pay attention in class/read the book, you will do well. He gives opportunity for extra credit and he is always available during office hours.
Great Topic, very repetitive, but interesting. Every Friday there is an exam. It is ONLY true and false! Very easy and his lectures are pretty interesting a funny.
He's a nice professor, but often goes off topic. Says he doesn't want to preach, but yet he does. Hard to understand material because of it. Doesn't really give notes, just objectives. He does give you a chance to raise your grade if you didn't do well on your exam. Very little opportunity for points in this class.
I really enjoyed Prof. Miethe's class. He's very funny and approachable; gives opportunities to improve your grade. I learned a lot.
Professor Miethe is great! He lets you turn in notes and he'll give you an ex student's notes that scored 100% on his exams follow those and you'll forsure get A's. He gives you an opportunity to fight for a higher grade during office hours and will bump you at least a letter grade just for showing up. Definitely take him !
Although, Terance Miethe has a great personality I wasn't too fond of his style of teaching. A majority of all class periods he goes off topic talking about random experiences he has had that have no relation to the subject the class is learning about.
Goes a little bit off topic and his notes aren't the best but is extremely helpful and will send you notes from a previous student if you need them. He is very funny and kind. Easy to get into contact with. There is an assignment due every Friday and a test about every 4 weeks.
Professor Miethe is super funny and truly cares about his students. However, this class is not entirely easy. The powerpoint slides are very broad and you have to take notes off what he says in class. I am not an auditory learner so this was hard for me. However, he is always available for office hours for outside help.
Miethe is a good person, but not a good professor. His tests are difficult and he gives you no sort of guide to succeed for them. He is all over the place and doesn't give much opportunity to get your grade up
Tells some pretty interesting stories during lectures. If you do the notes outside of class, you can just listen to him while in class. The textbook is written by him and he follows it pretty strictly. Also gives you notes, if you type yours out in exchange. Also gives out tips on the assignments and is available to help if you just ask.
Dr. Miethe is a great professor. He does go off on tangents throughout the lecture but they are interesting and he is funny. This class is really, really easy. Just read the book. All tests and assignments are online and he's a really easy grader. He also gives you the opportunity to raise your test grade after the fact if you go to his office.
I took this as summer online. I was afraid of this class because I am not great with numbers. But it was easy. The notes, assignments, practice assignments, and tests were all alike. If you can answer the questions from the assignments the tests are simple. He returns emails quickly. He also lets you correct questions you got wrong on tests.
One of the best/hardest classes I have taken. Summer I, 3 wks, rough! I didn't know I was going to have to work so hard, but enjoyed it. He wrote the book used, so he is certainly knowledgeable/passionate. If you explain why you answered an exam question the way you did, he usually gives credit. Great prof, highly recommend. LOTS of reading tho!
Miethe was a great professor overall, he taught very well & kept the class intrigued. He tends to get off topic when his personal stories that do correlates to the course but I feel like he forgets that he's teaching a class. 10/10 on the assignment & exams. Gives you notes that can make you excell for the exam. Gives you a chance to fix your exam
Professor Miethe is truly passionate about what he does. During lectures, he speaks from personal experiences a lot in order to relate to the material. There 's a lot of reading (textbook and web readings). On top of that, there's 15 little online assignments and 6 exams. He gives plenty of opportunities to get a good grade so you'll do great!
Professor Miethe provides interesting and hilarious lectures that engages his students. Putting in work into this class is necessary, but he paves the way for each student to succeed as long as they take advantage of his resources, such as using his notes or seeing him outside of class for clarification about lectures.
Prof. Miethe is willing to work with students as long as they put in the effort. In other words, he is willing to exchange notes and add extra time on the exams ONLY to students that type their notes out/go to his office hours. During lectures he will tell stories that in the moment do not seem relevant to the class, but are actually relevant.
This professor is AMAZING. I took him for my 3 week first session summer course. There was a ton of reading but it was all interesting. There were 5 exams and then a final. Lowest grade out of the first 5 exams was dropped. The final was cumulative. His exams are 20 questions in 20 minutes, but if you need extra time, he's very considerate!! :)
Professor Miethe knows his stuff. His experience helped guide the lectures. Long lectures and gets off topic sometimes but overall he is very amusing and makes an effort to keep the class engaged. Weekly assignments online and 6 tests/ quizzes in total. You need to keep up with this class or you will be left in the dust.
Professor Miethe is super hilarious and his workload isn't that much. He is always accessible outside of the classroom and more than willing to help you pass the class. The textbook used in the class was written by him so he knows the material inside and out. I highly recommend you taking his class.
Very funny and knows a lot, but I did not like the way the class was set up. You are graded out of around 80 points which all consists of quizzes and tests. If you don't remember every detail from the textbook, you will struggle. He allows you to make up some points by meeting in his office to discuss your wrong answers. Work hard for that A.
During his lectures, he tends to go off-topic. The tests rely on what you read from the textbook. If you take notes you can "trade" them. He also has participation questions that he goes over in class. The prompts for them are in canvas and you answer it the day he goes over it by midnight.
Professor Miethe was my favorite professor of all time. If you are majoring in Criminal Justice, I would really recommend taking his class. He isn't like other professors, because he makes the class super funny! There is a test every other week, but if you attend class and read it is an easy A, but you HAVE to put in the work!
Best CRJ professor and super funny. Is 100% willing to help you pass you just need to make the effort. He has plenty of office hours. All of the material is based off of his own textbook so dont try to google the answers you will just get them wrong. He makes every attempt to help you succeed so take it.
This class was an easy A! Everything he tests you on is word for word in the book. He also gives you the opportunity to improve your score after each test. Tests are almost every other week and are easy if you put in the work!
Professor Miethe is a great professor. His class is very clear on the expectations. Just read the book and watch the supplemental videos. Each week there was a class activity, assignment, and then every other week a test. He gives opportunities to get extra points on your test via oral exams. I would take his class again. Great professor
Professor Miethe is a great Professor! He really enjoys what he teaches and you can feel that when he is giving his lectures. I would absolutely take him again as a professor!
I was kinda scared to take this class since I am kinda slow with math. However, this class was well organized and the practice quizzes (you can retake these as much as you want to get full points) really helped. You will do well if you fill in the note taking guides (not required). Each exam consists of 25 multiple-choice questions (there's 4)
Excellent class!!! Real enlightening on the criminal justice system. Every time, I take notes and engage in class material comes to me a little easier. He is extremely patient and understanding. Enjoy the class!!! It's not a chore it's a treat for those interested in learning about the criminal justice system!
I was worried to take a class by this Professor due to the other reviews. Honestly has been the best professor I have had at UNLV. He gives a lot of extra credit opportunities if you engage in class. His quizzes are based solely on the textbook and power points. He uses real life examples to help you better understand definitions and scenarios.
I enjoyed my semester with Professor Miethe. He's really cool, he keeps you engaged in the lecture and he's really understanding when it comes to accepting your point of view on something. He's there to help you succeed, he's always available for questions and he responds quickly so he doesn't have you waiting. I recommend taking his classes!
At the beginning I was nervous about taking his classes due to the reviews but I gave it a shot because I wanted to take his CRJ 325 class. I ended up having to take 302 this semester as well and honestly, best decision because he was always available for help. As long as you read, come to his lectures, the exams are straight forward. He's awesome!
He is one of the best professors I have ever had! His lectures are extremely engrossing and entertaining. I would HIGHLY recommend taking one of his classes.
Professor Miethe's CRJ270 class was a highlight of my semester. The material is engaging, and his lectures really bring it to life. Definitely use unstuck ai alongside the textbook - it saved me a ton of time studying.
