Terry was by far the best professor I had this semester. Most people don't enjoy taking Speech class but the way he does it makes it more fun than others. He is very helpful if you have any questions and responds to e-mails very promptly.

Terry is by far my favorite teacher thus far. I absolutely HATE speech classes, but I didn't mind going to his class. He made it fun. And is a fairly easy grader as long as you do the work. Definitely take his class if you have the chance.

I hated giving speeches before this class, (actually I still do) but Smith is a very easy-going teacher and the speeches and class discussions are actually fun. There is little homework and short powerpoints are used to emphasize the main points of the chapters. If you are nervous when it comes to making speeches this is the right teacher for you.

Awesome professor, like everyone else said. Easy grader, and if you put in a little effort and go to class it's hard not to get an A...plus he offers like 50 points of extra credit. I will miss this class.

I love Mr. Smith!! He made giving speeches so easy,and you never feel weird about asking for help. I like how he puts the effort in to get to know each student. He gives 75 points possible extra credit, and as long as you put some effort into your speeches, you'll be fine. Try and read the book though for the tests but great class!

I definitely was not looking forward to taking a speech class but it ended up being my favorite class. Terry gets to know each student and gets everyone involved so it's less awkaward giving a speech in front of 30 some people you don't even know. He also gives a chance to get like 150 extra credit points. You would be silly not to take his class.

Extra credit opportunities. 4 speeches. 2 exams (midterm/final - NOT on exam day!) get out early almost everyday. laid back & enjoyable class. TAKE TERRY! i do NOT like giving speeches AT ALL but terry made it such a nonjudgmental environment it wasnt even stressful.

Class is actually fun on most days. Tests and quizzes are easy if you read the stuff. Lots of assignments but they all take like 10 minutes and are easy points. He's a super nice guy too...knows everybody's name and is relaxed and funny.

Terry is the nicest professor I've had.He's very helpful, get's things graded and back to you right away, and he tells you what you need to fix or do good on.It's more or less an easy A and a fun class to go to.Usually get out early too.

Terry is great! Class is more like a team atmosphere than a lecture. You do have lots of assignments, but they are easy and he gives lots of feedback. He returns EVERY e-mail quickly. Highly recommended.

Professor Smith is great! He is a great guy and a wonderful teacher to have. He has a fun way of teaching and has great ideas to make classes interesting and to make it much easier to talk in front of the class for the few speeches we have. He knows everyone's names and cares a lot. He is very passionate about the subject, class, and his students.

I was dreading speech so much I put it off until my 4th semester...who would have thought this would be one of my favorite classes? Only Terry could do that. He is AWESOME! Makes you feel so at ease, and obviously cares very much about students. Easy grader, very passionate, one of the best professors I've had. Take him if at all possible!

Amazing teacher. He's so nice and even though you feel like you're not doing much in the class, you learn a lot. I loved this class and I'm an ESS major. We actually got to talk about interesting topics. Oh, and it's the easiest A I've ever received.

I keep telling everyone I know to take him for any class. Such a great guy. We always get to hear funny stories or watch youtube videos. Of course you have to give speeches but he makes you feel comfortable with the whole class. Wish I could take more of his classes!

I wish he could teach all of my classes! He is the nicest guy ever and also funny. There are only two tests (the midterm and final) and they are both pretty easy. We only had 3 speeches which were also easy to get a good grade.

Excellent instructor, especially for a communications class. He is very personable and up front about his expectations. If you put in honest effort to improve throughout the semester you will receive a good grade.

He not only makes the class fun and interesting, but he's a good person who loves teaching! I don't think there was one class period where he didn't start out by asking a student how they were doing or what was new in their life. And he always plays music so that's fun too!

I loved having this class with him! He makes the 2 exams sound really hard but they are super easy with a little bit of reviewing the review stuff. Overall, easy A.

Terry is a really relaxed guy! He made people feel comfortable and at ease which is hard to do in a speech class. He is a really easy grader on speeches (3 total, 1 of them is a group speech.) All of his tests are fill in the blank which he grades easily. The class was very enjoyable and easy. I would recommend taking Terry!

terry is the best teacher I've taken here at uwl. he is so beyond helpful and he takes the times to get to know everyone on a personal level. giving speeches in no ones favorite thing to do but terry makes it seem like no big deal and makes the class room really comfortable and inviting. i would highly highly recommend him.

Terry is a great professor. He always comes to class with an energetic and enthusiastic attitude. He does activities in class that help you get to know everyone in class so by the time you have to present your speech you aren't nervous at all. Be prepared for his fun facts about Blue Whales. I loved having him for CST 110 and would recommend him.

Pressor Smith is awesome and has some great stories to share! There is a mid-term and a final which are pretty easy. A couple assignments here and there but easy grader on speeches. Terry was awesome! I had him for my first semester as a freshman at UW-L, he made speaking in front of people enjoyable, instead of frightening. He always was so relatable to the students, and was very laid back! Easily one of the better professors on campus. Super funny too! #bluewhales

Terry was probably the best professor I've ever had. He made public speaking something to enjoy, rather than dread. He genuinely cares about his students and tries to prepare them as best as he can for everything. We never had tests and quizzes, besides the midterm. Homework assignments are easy, too. Gives great feedback on speeches and "papers".

One of the top UWL professors for a reason - cares a lot about getting to know students - and he WILL remember you! Quirky with his entertaining facts about great whales and really tries to get everyone to feel comfortable with public speaking. Can get great grades on the speech if you really work on developing it even if you didn't speak clearly.

Terry is hilarious and lectures are always worth listening to. You are graded on few things, only 3 speeches, a mid term and a final, but he is very clear on what to study and gave some extra credit for going to the public speaking center. He clearly cares about students and I would definitely recommend taking him.

Super funny and down to earth. Had him early in the day and his personality makes it easy to stay awake and engage (time goes by quickly). He grades speeches very easily and I did a lot better than I thought on the final just because he is an easy grader. Super easy A.

Terry is a great professor and even better guy. I HATE public speaking, but yet he made the classroom a friendly atmosphere and makes sure every student is comfortable. Barely ever use textbook, two solo speeches + one group speech, basically just show up to class to chit chat a bit and you're guaranteed an A. You'll learn a lot about blue whales.

I had Terry for CST-110 my first semester. He grades based on a few assignments, a mid term and final, 2 solo speeches, and one group speech. He makes sure everyone in class is comfortable with each other, so the speeches are a breeze, and the tests are pretty standard. Overall, one of the best UWL has to offer. I would 100% recommend taking him.

This man inspires. Well respected professor that cares so much about students. His grading criteria is clear and he will make exceptions to help you where youve excelled. He cares so much about the students and their mental health. I highly recommend him for any class!

I loved Prof Smith. I miss his class because of our switch to online because he makes each student feel important and capable. He makes learning about a pretty bland topic interesting because he doesn't only talk about communication. Yes, the speeches suck, but he does his best to make sure they aren't terrible. Little reading, except for tests.

Terry is the best professor I have had. Even though he had to switch to online mid-semester he was still on top of things and graded things fairly quickly. He is so good at connecting with students and always offers to help and give his input. His lectures aren't boring and when he gives directions they aren't confusing, he gives it straight up.

Professor Smith is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He cares about the subject and was always willing to help students. His lessons were always made to help students do better on their speeches. I didn't think I was going to like this class going into it, but I really enjoyed it.

I loved Smith and his class. His classes are mostly lectures, but he actually makes them pretty enjoyable and does things to keep you engaged. The class was pretty easy, maybe one assignment a week that took five minutes to do and was an automatic 100% to boost your grade as long as you did it, but most your grade relies on the three speeches.

Professor Smith is a very easy grader. He offers extra credit for going to the Public Speaking Center for your 3 speeches. Super funny. Cares about your mental health, super easy to work with. Would take him again.

Best professor for CST 110 by far! Was nervous to take it online, but Professor Smith was awesome. He's quick when grading, and you can ask for more feedback if you need it. Super caring guy, and he made my most dreaded class enjoyable.

I was terrified for a speaking class but I am so glad I got him. he makes the class comfortable and is very chill. he gets to know every student quickly. for a speaking class, we had a lot of free range on topics and such that my friends with other profs didn't have. clear grading, and prepares you well. he is so understanding!

I had a rough time adjusting to university and his class had helped me come out of my shell a little bit, he was the first professor that I felt recognized by and overall it makes me sad that I have to move on from his class. He loves talking and will go off-topic a little, but he usually finds a way to connect it back to content material.

I would like to personally say that professor Smith is the professor you want if you're taking CST110. There are 3 main speeches, an informative one, persuasive one which are both by yourself 5-7 minutes each, then a group project speech, and a final. Class can be overwhelming for students with anxiety but trust me you want him.

Very caring professor who makes class much more interesting, engaging, and fun. He understands we have anxiety with speeches and does a great job at helping to minimalize that. The speeches themselves are fairly easy and graded easily, just don't put preparing off until the day before like I did and you should have a easy A.

I cannot say enough good things about Prof. Smith. His lectures are engaging and you can tell he really cares about his students. He does a great job at building a community in the classroom so you feel more comfortable giving speeches and he gives great feedback. He's also very funny so I always enjoyed being in his class.

There is a lot of work with outlines for your presentations, but he is more than willing to help and does give a lot of heads up time for these as well. Exams are somewhat hard, but studying from the textbook is recommended. Minimal homework, overall super great prof.

Professor Smith is an engaging professor who truly cares for his subject and his students; it was a pleasure to be in his class. I don't think all the readings were necessary, and I recommend reading the end of chapter summaries, very useful. Being in class is the key, if you pay attention in lecture and participate in class you will do amazing.

Professor Smith really takes the time to get to know his students and is a really good person at heart. If you do all the work that is assigned and use the resources he provides you will do just fine.
