One of the few English classes where I actually improved my writing abilities. There are many assignments but most are beneficial and you actually learn something. Also she has her days where she says "mmmkay" a lot, so I strongly suggest this class for South Park fans It was a hybrid class and I was very impressed with its ease and convenience.

Dr Sands was incredibly helpful. When starting this class I had very weak writing skills. After working directly with Dr Sands my skills began to improve. At the end of the semester, I went from getting D's to B's on my essays.

Dr. Sands course is challenging and clear. You know exactly what you need to do and when and there is plenty of time in between classes to get this done. She is though very picky about grammatical errors and has some overly strict policies on her papers. Over all good course if you review well and the bybrid course cannot be beat.

Taking this hybrid course was really convenient and worked great with her course structure. Classwork was very fair and well organized. Almost every assignment was prep work for the essays. Overall a great experience!

Any student taking this class would benefit greatly. There is about 4 assignments a week, no hard task and 3 major essays due throughout the semester. Sands gives the option to earn points back through corrections on final drafts. If you aren't confident in your writing, you will improve. If you are confident then this class is an easy A.

This is an easy class if you apply yourself. Dr. Sands is very organized and knows her stuff. She is super nice and will help you with anything. I highly recommend her!

She's fairly strict, but as long as you put in the effort and pay attention to the requirements, you can get a good grade.

I really disliked this course. I dreaded coming in because she would go over few things at the beginning of class and then have students read simple things to fill time. She eases you in much too slow and then expects perfection. Don't expect an A without putting hours and hours into the papers.

This was a hybrid (half in-person, half online) class and it worked very well, as Dr. Sands was always accessible both online and in-person. English 101 with Dr. Sands was very beneficial, I learned a great deal in pursuing a strong essay.

I took the hybrid course, which I highly recommend. Classes were only on Thursdays, and online work was due on Tuesdays, meaning I had 6 days to complete online work which could be completed in 30min~1hr. There were only 4 essays done during the semester, and the last essay counted as the final. Dr. Sands is very nice and helpful!

This was my first hybrid course, and I really like it! Anyhow, Dr. Sands was a great teacher. Her grading marks are a little hard to interpret, but once you get the hang of her methods they're so helpful. She made clear what her expectations were. Quick to respond to any questions either in class or through Canvas. Excellent teacher!

Teryl Sands is a great teacher! I have taken several of online courses the past 3 years and I cant say that I've actually met up with them in person, but Teryl Sands i have. She advised me to come in and noticed that i took the course more than once. I then met up with her 2 more times discussing the requirements i need to meet to pass the class.

Hybrid class was awesome! You come in one day each week and the other day you submit assignments online. Dr. Sands was really funny and entertaining in class, but also presented her expectations clearly. There were only three essays throughout the course and plenty of time to prepare for each one. I did not know what to expect before entering this class as it is a hybrid and I have been out of school for almost ten years. I accidentally signed up for this hybrid class. At first I was a little confused because I had never taken a hybrid class before this, but so far I had a good experience. Dr. Sands is very funny and jokes a lot. She's kinda strict with the papers though and attendance. But overall I enjoyed this class a lot.

Thclass was fun and prety upbeat, she'stully got a really nice personality and sence of humoer which help time go by fast when in class. I love the fact that since its a hybrid class I only have on day i go to class physiacally for a hour and forty-five minutes.

On all major essays she give you the option of fixing your grammar mistakes which can be a life-saver. She gives you plenty of time to complete essays and basically walks you through them. All the homework she gives is prep for the essay and to get you thinking about it. She was always very helpful, totally nice, and one of my favorite teachers.

I thought Dr. Sands did a great job at teaching this class. She was always very helpful and open to any questions we had. She also was very clear that she was always available to us individually through email or in her office. I found this to be very true. Every time I email her with a questions she always got back to me in a timely manner.

This class was a good class to help me get back into school and fresh up my writing skills that i forgot about as i was out of college for six years. All the writings in this class was not difficult but made you think and the reading we read in class were interesting. Also she showed small short clips that inspired me to write certain papers

Dr. Sands gives students everything they need to pass, but it's up to the student to utilize those tools. She gives constructive feedback on essays and assignments that elevate the skills of students should they choose to use the advice. Attendance is mandatory. Participation is important in the group projects, which aren't dreadful.

The whole class revolves around a writing textbook, and submission of essays. Do well on those, be present, and take part in discussions, and you'll be fine...

She was a great teacher, she is really awesome as long as you do all the online homework witch is only two small assignment online on Tuesday you will pass the class.. You have three major essays that you have to do, but she grades kind of hard but you can gain your points back if you edit the paper, its optional! Also you take no TEST.

Miss four classes and your dropped for the semester. Pretty straight forward English course with three required essays that encompass the year.

She is an exceptional instructor that genuinely wants to help her students to pass. That being said, she will not spoon feed it to you and you will have to work for it. Its not easy, but if you put the time in, it certainly is not difficult.

In the beginning i was expecting any English class to very un-inspirational and full of novels. The professor in this class was absolutely incredible! by far one of the coolest instructors i have ever had. She is very understanding, gives really great feedback fast, and is quite the character! Overall i had a really great time in this class!

You write 3 essays and review material pertaining to those basic essay types. There are no tests, NO FINAL, and despite having rough grading on the essays, you are given the ability to fix the mistakes she marks for a better grade. Other than a few assignments from the book and reading materials, work is easy, and essays are you choice of subject.

Great instructor, I had her for the online hybrid class. Simply do you work and give a good effort and you will have no problem passing the class. The grade isn't just given to you so be ready to put some effort into your paper. Sands offered great help and is there to help you succeed. Would highly recommend her for any english course.

I hope she has 101 classes available next semester I would like her to be my instructor again. Also very helpful and understanding of work and military duties.

Prof Sands is the only online professor I've had who stays engaged with students as much as she does. She gives prompt feedback, has clear grading criteria and is always encouraging. I was really surprised at her quality of work with it being an online class. There is a lot to learn from her and the subject matter is interesting.

One thing I hated about this class was the peer reviews. Only few took it seriously, and it was just pointless. Would rather the professor go over our work a bit more. Overall good prof.

The class was perfectly paced. I did not particularly appreciate doing peer reviews. My peers never reviewed my papers seriously, so I feel like I did not get the kind of feedback I was looking for. If Professor Sands had reviewed our rough drafts, I believe I could have found more ways to improve my writing better.

I enjoyed Dr. Sands class! My writing got considerably better by taking her class. She is a pretty tough grader, this class is not an easy A. You have to put in the work but youll be better for it. I did not like the peer reviews, I would spend a lot of time and effort on others and never got the same in return.

Dr. Sands has a fun, interactive ENG102 course. She provides the sources you will be using for papers, so no outside research is necessary. She is 110% accessible through email and provides feedback every step of the way- much more than the typical online course. The course is worth it!

Dr. Sands ENG 102 is a great class to take. The way that she structures assignments is perfect for this course material and breaks writing assignments into very manageable pieces rather than overwhelming students with huge word count requirements. English is one of my least favorite subjects, but I felt like my writing improved. Take this class!!!

Professor Sands is great and cares about her students! Class is easy as long as you participate and turn all of your assignments in. Great feedback from her as well as from fellow classmates as the majority of the coursework involves interacting w/ other students. A great choice for ENG102 and honestly helped me improve my writing!

Best online professor I had during the pandemic!! She gives great feedback to help you better your writing. I do think her peer reviews with the other students were pointless though because some students did not take them seriously. I would've rather had her feedback, but other then that her class was nice and easy if you did your work.

My first year at MCC and she was by far the best professor I had my first semester. There is quite a bit of homework but its all simple assignments you could get done in 1-2 hours. Only thing I didnt like about the class was the peer reviews. Overall, super nice professor and I loved her class.

Professor Sands was super nice and I loved her positive energy every time I saw her. She is always on top of things and lets her students know that she is available to talk whenever. The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was that the essays were graded super harshly, I managed to fall short every time.

The instructor is very fair in her grading criteria. She replies quickly and is there to help. The class is challenging however if you follow the instructions literally you will be good.

Dr. Sands' ENG111 is one of the most exceptional online courses I've taken. The engaging atmosphere created by peer responses, coupled with Dr. Sands' remarkable feedback on all assignments, has made this class truly outstanding. The information gained here is not only beneficial for academic, but also is significant for one's professional journey.

If you want to improve your writing, take ENG102 with Dr. Sands. Most of the class was much busy work although discussions were genuinely meaningful. I loved the hybrid setup. The only thing I didn't like about this class is how harsh of a grader she was, and I felt like we had to review subpar articles on purpose that were deemed professional.

Such a great professor! She's very lenient, she's a great teacher and is so kind. She does her best to connect with students and works around holidays so that you have the day off and don't have anything due the day of the holiday.
