really nice and funny professor. definitely recommend her. she gets right to the point, and makes sense, and then lets you leave. almost always got out of class at least an hour early based on a 2 hour & 20 minute class.
As a person she may be nice, but as an teacher I wouldn't take another class from her. The homework questions are not very clear and she doesn't go over them well to understand what the problem is to correct it for your test.
I loved taking this class! Tess is very good at using real situations to describe somewhat abstract concepts. If you turn in the worksheets and tasks (which aren't hard at all) You'll have no problem getting an A.
Tess is a wnderful teacher! her class was the easiest one i have taken so far! and she is interesting. Sometimes she can be a little scatterbrained, but she offered so much extra credit i reicieved ofer a 100% in her class! Also we played jepordy games for our tests and even did a group test for the final! it was great! TAKE THIS CLASS!
Tess is the greatest teacher I've taken yet at Clark. I agree with the other comment she can be a bit scatterbrained, but if you pay even the slightest bit of attention in her class and do the homework, you will have no problem doing well. She is very approachable and makes the class fun. Look no further and take this class!
Tess is awesome! Her class was really easy but fun at the same time. We played jeopardy for a few of our tests including the final! Sh has extra credit opportunities. She also is positive and funny. Class is interesting and I learned a lot. I reccomend this class to anyone!
Tess is great! She genuinely wants everyone in the class to do well and if you have any questions she is very happy to answer them. She is one of the best teachers I've had. :)
If your looking for a teacher who is helpful, fun and pretty easy, this is your teacher. She is very willing to help and is very nice and understanding. Tests aren't too difficult, we have about 6 tests in the whole quarter and all are either games, group tests or take-home tests. It was great! But you still learn a lot. I reccommend this teacher t
Tess is a good teacher. she gives you lots of time to ask questions and gives lots of examples. the tests are done as a group and are multiple choice. she is very fair and willing to consider other opinions. i would recomend this class for any level learner.
Very energetic and interesting, keeps class involved.
She was an amazing teacher! She makes sure to teach so that every learning style understands! She was a lot of fun too!
She is a very fair teacher!!! She is nice and fun, If you do your homework, and comment paper each week, you should get a very good grade, because her tests are in a group that makes it very easy)))
Tess was great! She was very understanding when I got sick and was unable to make it to class. She told us at the beginning of the quarter that attendance counts - she's not kidding! The homework on blackboard can be done by skimming through the CH., I recommend you actually read the entire CH. though. Tests were 4 person group tests.
i love her lectures because theyre interesting and easy to understand. quizes are taken in groups so theyre easy and the questions on them are mainly from the hw. DONT BE LATE ON QUIZ DAYS!!!if you are, she might not let u in to class...but other than that shes really cool.if you study and do everything on time, this class will be a breeze:)
she is a good teacher. her exams on blackboard can be extremely easy if you read/skim the chapter. she stick to key words in 90% of the question. her mind can wander at times in class but its fun.
Now, first of all, I loved this class. The material was really interesting at all, but I was not a fan of this teacher. She is one of those distant professors you feel like you can't approach. There was nothing wrong with her teaching, per se, I just wish she was a little more approachable and caring toward her students.
I agree w/ the person below. For a psychology teacher, she isnt that bright and can be rude at times. But its a very easy class. Gives u lots of time in class to do your work. Quizzes are too easy, u do it in groups too. Homework are vocab worksheets. She teaches rly interesting stuff and not like other teachers who mainly focus on psychologists.
I really enjoyed this class. Tess has a wonderful approach to teaching the course material that enforces learning and understanding. She is very approachable and willing to help. I would highly recommend her.
She's alright, but can be rude when you ask questions. So I suggest keeping your mouth shut or asking a classmate lol. Overall alright class
Textbook is were her quiz and test questions come from but attendance can be helpful because she can explain some stuff better. Group test and multiple choice, really easy to pass without really trying.
Good class. She is helpful and makes learning the material fun. You'd better follow directions, though.
This class is very hard... I thought it is easy NO, NO. teachers questions are very confusing... because she is psychologist. Don't relax this class for me was harder then math. But I achieved my A.
Very enthusiastic and profeesional. She is very passionate about sharing her knowledge. She has made Psychology fun and interesting. Excellent Instructor!
Tests are taken in groups so some people fall back on what you know not what they read. If you are having problems just talk to her she is understanding.
Engages the class in various activities and uses visuals and explanations during lectures which helps! Pretty easy class overall and she tries to make the class interesting and understandable.
Not boring at all and super intersting. Explains everything really well. Test arnt that hard, if you study her group reviews and take notes on what she talks about in class, you wont have trouble on the test.
By far the BEST teacher I have had in college! She is very approachable and easy to understand. You get homework every week and a test every other week, but as long as you do the reading and show up for group reviews you'll do perfect! She is very entertaining and make psychology fun!! Take her if you can!!!
she makes the material interesting, but she needs counseling! She is crazy. Says she sees everything in cartoons. She can be very rude and uncaring. I wouldn't wish her on anyone!
Great teacher. She makes class fun and interesting. She also cares about her students and is always willing to help out. You have to take her for psych!
She is wonderful. She seems like she is crazy all of the time, but she does have all her marbles, I promise. She knows so much about psychology and is so intrigued. She does have a tendency to go off on tangents, though. Make sure you show up, do the homework and weekly online quizzes, and you'll be golden! I recommend to her everyone. Love her!:)
Tess is an amzing instructor she is very laid back and wants everyone to pass. You learn a lot in that class and it is really fun to attend this class. You have to try to fail that class. Just a hint find a team that you can work on worksheets with. It helps a lot. I loved this class. This was the class I looking forward to everyday.
Weekly online homework and lab which can be time consuming but it really helps on Friday group reviews. Not a typical lecture based class. You are often placed in groups, assigned a term to draw on a board and explain to the class. A creative take on psychology! You are expected to create a trifold poster so if you are artsy this is a great class!
Nice professor! Course is very visual based and group oriented (that is except for the textbook readings). Group quizzes every Friday, try to get people who don't slack off otherwise you'll be the only one answering ?'s. Overall easy class.
Tess is very familiar with her subject matter, however, she is a horrible facilitator. Her online forum is best if you must take her class. She cannot socially interact enough to stay on track. Also, beware that the online version of PSYCH intro will include more reading than you can stand. All comments, text reading, and another forum!Plus quizzes.
I like her shes a really good teacher to have and shes pretty easy we just used canvas and did all our worksheets online.
Tess is a wonderful, quirky lady. There is a lot of group work and online homework that is easy of you read the book and study the material. She gives two exams a quarter that are only worth 10% of your grade, and there is no final exam! Only an easy project due at the end of the quarter. I highly recommend Tess!
I didn't realize Psychology was going to be so easy. Honestly didn't need to touch the book because her teaching was so clear and understandable. It was the easiest A that I've ever gotten.
Easy A! When you do your quizzes online, print them out. It will help you remember the right answers without having to do a lot of work.
Easy A, Quizzes are online for every week. I personally did read much because the quizzes are online. Little group activities. Overall recommend her for easiness.
Took this class this fall quarter and I really enjoyed her class! Participation does matter. lectures have power point with pictures and she has activities to help you remember the material. quizzes are easy on canvas. tests in class are easy if your group studied for them and you yourself. Overall her class is very easy and really enjoyable.
Tess is by far one of the best professors I have had. Quizzes are online each week, and you can take them twice, and they aren't too tough. All tests are done within groups. Tess cares more about the students learning then them having to cheat for an A. Overall an easy A as well.
Great teacher. Funny, easily distracted, but not in a bad way. Be ready for a group project though. Assigns in first few weeks of class. Get paired with random classmates. Hopefully you get a good group... Took Web-Enhanced class, nice because no text book. Online quizzes were easy. DO NOT SKIP FRIDAYS!!!! Most of your grade lies on these & quizzes
Pretty easy class. Quizzes are online and there is a group quiz every friday so don't miss them! Be prepared for lots of group assignments.. Once you pick a group you're pretty much stuck with them
Although Prof. Yevka was nice enough and versed in psychology, she often seemed lost and occasionally was bad about conveying information or even giving the correct information. Lectures are powerpoint. Would ask questions and get scooted with "I don't expect you to know that".. Felt a bit cheated on my education even though i got an A.
Tess was an awesome professor. I found this class to be very educational. I took this class in the summer, so it was fast paced, but still fun. The textbook was online, which made it easier to study. Also, you are graded on attendance, so show up everyday.
She is now using the Revel service for the quizzes and tests, which is online only. There are constant issues accessing it from computers, and they have answers wrong all the time. She gets mad when you bring these issues to her attention. All we do in class is discussions, which I feel i get nothing out of. She is very unclear about our project.
Loved the content, could've done without Yevka. She's VERY disorganized and unclear; she'd constantly get due dates and times incorrect, and on multiple occasions she'd tell the class one thing, post another online, and then forget both! The time management for this class was awful and assignments weren't spread out well and left people scrambling.
She's a nice teacher, gives good feedback, but was really disorganized. She may have been overwhelmed by the new book & a new project introduced this quarter, but it made things difficult for us students. I really enjoyed the content & class discussions, especially when she contributed her insight, but time management was a big issue for everyone.
I liked taking this course, but I feel like i am not taking much away from it. All assignments and quizzes online. You have to rely on other group members, the class time is all discussion and no lecture. You must really sit down and read the book to get the information
I LOVED the subject & book, but VERY disappointed in instructor. She is frequently disorganized and contradicts herself A LOT. Communication (in class and in person) is frustrating. She doesn't listen well and jumps to quick assumptions. She can be adversarial, even abrasive. She knows the subject, but organizational/interpersonal skills were weak.
I really enjoyed this class. Super easy. Prof. Tess is really sweet and nice. Alot of discussions. Two mini reflection papers. One in the middle of the quarter and one at the end of the quarter. No final. She uses a program called mindtap where you will do you chapter test which are super easy. Overall super easy and I would take again with her.
Tess is nice overall but could be a bit clearer in her instructions. Overall, I would take this class again.
She was probably one of my least favorite teachers . In addition, to being disrespectful/ arrogant when you ask questions she would tell you that your doing your work or project all wrong (mainly because is wasn't her way). I strongly advise students to avoid her as a teacher. The only way I passed was from reading the textbook.
Extremely rude and the course is all online work so it really seems like the only reason she is there is to legitimate the class. She doesn't teach you learn everything from the book. She will tell you to start working and then yell ans ring a bell and tell you to shut up because she forgot to say something and will do that over and over again.
You will solely have to rely on the textbook basically to learn the information. She is all over the place in teaching the class. Can also be rude. She can't handle "to many" questions at one time apparently. Reading every single night and quizzes every night. Has an annoying bell that she rings every 2 minutes to get our attention.
The class is mainly discussion based. You do quizzes and in text quizzes via Revel. Also, post daily discussion prompts about reading in canvas. Class overall is very easy you can do 1-3 weeks in advance of course work. If you have book test and quizzes are same as textbook in revel. Professor is easy going helps facilitate discussion easy class.
Her expectations were unclear, and she was insulting to students who pointed out that information was missing from her handouts. She was never prepared for class, and would get upset when students didn't get her last minute messages online about moving the class to another location. She gives you a schedule, but doesn't follow it.
I would not recommend this teacher. You by a very expensive text book for the access code, which then has the book online so you never open your actual book. Assignments are confusing on when they are due. The amount of work you have to do is insane. You do two full chapters (reading and tests) a week plus other assignments as well.
"read" 2 chapters a week, but all quiz answers are in back of book, so you don't have to read. Easy weekly 2 part discussions with replies... One short report assignment, and then the final stuff. She's active in discussions and seems passionate about the material.
Tess is amazing! Pay attention in class, do your readings on time and go in with an open mind. She knows a lot and she tries to make everything easy to understand. It's only psych 101 so she isn't very difficult. She'll make class fun and I promise you'll learn something. She even made good suggestions for my next psychology course.
Tess is a very respectable and nice professor. Her class is pretty easy, online textbook, questions to participate in class, one big group project making a board game, not a lot of tests. Maybe like 2 including the final.
The homework is simple, the teacher is friendly and gives good feedback. A $120 textbook is needed for this course though, and it has to be through REVEL which is an online code (can't buy used textbook instead as online code is needed for tests).
This class was easy. The textbook was online and there were mini quizzes at the end of the chapters due online a couple times a week. The only other things you are graded on is clicker questions and attendance. There is a group project that you work on every Friday which is easy. Just do your online work and its an easy A.
She requires alot of online work but it very straight forward of what she wants. If you put in effort you will get an A.
Tess is a good professor. You will read a chapter in the text book every 2-3 days and she gives a mini quiz almost everyday in class. Chapter exams after each chapter is read and then there is a group project. All and all its a good class and as long as you read and show up for class it's not difficult.
Very clear about what is to be done. Very organized. Read the chapters, do the coordinating work online, and participate when you are in class (though attendance is not mandatory). I went into the class hating psychology and found it to be very interesting and got a very high A. She makes discussions interesting and rarely lectured.
Yevka is so funny and gives many examples of the things she teaches (I advise you to take notes). Every week there are 2 chapters you have to read with an online textbook (so its free!) but you do need a clicker. Once you're done reading the chapters you will have to do the study quizzes that go with it. They are really easy!!
Tess is great teacher and the quizzes are super easy its the kind of class where you can take as many times as you like until you get 100%. She's also really lenient as long as you talk things through with her to back up your reason for why there may be a delay. She's really funny and makes the class more lively.
I just wish there were more lectures. The second half of class was spent almost entirely on a group project, and each student was focusing on just one topic. I just wish I could have learned more. Professor Tess is a social psychologist, so I would recommend taking her social psychology class over general.
Seems that she is not educated enough to teach. Questions are always asked that she cannot answer. She waters down her lectures to statements that are not even accurate anymore. She gives good grades based on what appeals to her and her beliefs. Although she can talk in front of a class and make things interesting I do not think she should teach.
She is a flipped classroom teacher. In my class we read two chapters a week and quizzes were due before midnight on sundays. She does class discussions and encourages students to speak their opinion. When in this class, I felt like I could speak my real thoughts on the subject and wouldn't get criticized for it. You have to work for grade you want
Loved that we got the textbook online for free. We took weekly clicker quizzes based on weekly reading and then chapter test were group test. Had a lot of fun in the class and learned a lot with out being talked to. Did a lot of interacting with the materiel which I loved.
She is unclear about expectations, unprepared. We turned in our final projects and she sent a very rude email to the class about how we all did it wrong and cant follow instructions. Changed the expectation and expected a whole different project from everyone within a week. Made me revise mine over and over and over until it was her opinion of good
Her quizzes are online with unlimited tries but it takes around 5 hours to try again. Her discussions is what drops your grade down, yes she has a very strict grading rubric in her discussions worth 35%. She grades based on what she believes its right, not based on your opinion.
One of my favorite professors by far, Tess really wanted her students to succeed in her class. She will always give you chances to better your grade. Most of her assignments are online, if you read the assigned chapters the assignment goes by quick, you keep going until you get 100%, she also gives online quizzes based on the assignment.
Tess seems to have no sympathy for a "psychologist". She does not care about her students. Participation is a big part of your grade but she is very judgmental and condescending when a student shares an option that does not match her own.
do yourself a favor. Avoid Tess!
I enjoy my class. Most of the material is connected to Pearson's Student Revel and MyVirtualLife, though there are group discussions we are required to participate in online. Prepare to comprehend a lot of what you're reading and the more effort you put into group discussions, the better. Tess is a tough grader on the discussions.
So much reading! Quizzes took forever. Thought this would be more interesting. She does give multiple takes on the online quizzes. They just take long.
I took Professor Yevka's class last quarter and I learned so much. For the online class, we used Pearson Revel for our textbook and virtual life. There were many quizzes but they were very small and came directly from the reading. There were no papers to write and for the final she gave us the questions as our study guide. She is a great professor.
Thank goodness shes drops low scores from each section. Got an A in her class! im happy.
Most of the class is on the textbook, and all she does is regurgitate the textbook information in her lectures. Very boring classes. The class could easily just be online and we would learn just as much.
Attendance is mandatory for "class" discussions, which mostly consist of Tess talking about the same topic for too long. All work is done online and barely reviewed during discussions. She's a tough grader yet gives little to no feedback on assignments. She acts aloof, condescending and judgmental when students share their opinions in class.
I took Tess for PSYC 200 and will say that she's one of the best professors I've had in a long time. She not lecture heavy and is always willing to help. She makes her classes fun and engaging.
She is pretty easy. Just online work, attendance, group "quizzes", a project and a final. She sometimes comes off as uninterested. You'll ask a question and she kind of seems like she doesn't really want to answer or talk about something. Other than that its an easy A.
Tess was very approachable and down to earth. If she saw that the majority of the class was struggling with a specific concept she would take the time to go over it again. She really respects the students who take the time to communicate with her, ask for help if needed and participates in class.
Overall not to hard. The group quizzes were pretty chill if you got a good group. Really knows her stuff. Attendance matter tho, so show up.
This class is of very low quality. You will learn nothing in class. It's disorganized discussion, very off topic, and Tess likes to tout her leftist political views endlessly. Tess likes technology but not organization. Prepare to get confusing emails and day and night: you're in class 24/7, and yet while in class, nothing happens, ever. Dreadful.
Tess was an epic disappointment. I've never experienced such a disorganized instructor at any level of education. Even worse, she is petty and combative if questioned for clarification, let alone challenged by a differing opinion. She contradicts herself constantly, creating terrible confusion. What little feedback is given is weak and simplistic.
Tess was extremely helpful when i had to switch mid quarter from a lecture class to an online class. I had a hard time getting in to the swing of the on-line class participation but Tess was full of encouragement and once i got the hang of it i thought it was a very insightful format for her class. I would definitely take her classes again.
Overall, she is a very wonderful teacher. She's resourceful not only for this class but for your basic needs as well. You obviously need to show up to class in order to turn in your card because both of those elements weigh a ton on your grade. Also, participation is the key to achieve the grade you want. And do the assignments online!!!! Easy A!!!
Professor Tess was a super easy professor. Her lectures were engaging and enjoyable, and she did everything she could to make the class easy to pass. Weekly quizzes were the majority of the homework, which were designed to help you memorize the material based on psychology learned in class! This is one of the easiest A's I've ever had.
Tess gives really good advice and is very honest and open about things. There's no class work, just show up with 3 open ended questions and get ready to talk, attendance is graded. Keep up with online work and you'll be perfectly fine. She drops your lowest grade in the middle of the term, no midterm!!! She posts the exact final questions online.
This teacher is a joke, she doesn't test you on anything besides a mandatory final. All you will do in this class is read the book at home, come in with a note card with 2 questions about the section and she will answer the "curiosity" questions of the class. You will learn practically nothing while you wait for this mind numbing class to finish.
I made an account just for this frustrating class. Much more work than it's worth for what you learn, tons of reading every week, and the use of inQuizitive is infuriating since every "quiz" takes SO LONG and is super patronizing, like a kid's game. In class she frequently talks over and ignores students and doesn't explain concepts more.
Drops a few grades from each section, recommend to do Hybrid rather than Web Enhanced. Weekly readings and online quizzes, infographic quizzes. Very organized, though slightly odd person.
Tess was the best teacher I have taken at Clark. There are quite a few quizzes but they are so simple and you are guaranteed an A because you keep answering questions until you have 100%. I absolutely recommend taking her class.
Tess is not a bad teacher or person. She just doesn't teach. She relies almost exclusively on Inquizitive, which treats you like a child and makes you work for hours to receive the grade you want. It is a bit demeaning. This class is all about her opinions. All of the material is online. She uses templates already pre-made. Not much help.
I was so excited for this class, but she made it unenjoyable. Takes forever to grade, blames it on having too many other classes/students. SO MANY BANNED WORDS AND PHRASES. Doesn't teach anything, makes you read and do a discussion each week. Corrects everyone in bright font on their discussions so peers can see what each person got incorrect.
Very disorganized & sneaky. Put instructions in 3 different places & make them all a little different so if you don't read them all you'll miss something. Changed the format for posts partway through the quarter where the due date was still 11pm but you had to post before 7pm to be able to get 100% if you posted before 11 but after 7pm no 100%
The class wasn't too bad, even though I hadn't taken a psych class before, and it recommended a prerequisite. Tess is not very understanding though. I was out of the country first week of the quarter with no service/wifi and emailed her ahead of time and she wouldn't let me make anything up and gave me all zeros. I wish she was more understanding.
Take this class from anyone else. Tess provides guidelines then grades on a different scale (due at 11pm, but graded due at 7pm). She is aggressive in her speech, rude, and directly condescending. You won't get by if you don't comply. Her rubric for discussion posts is nine pages and 2,355 words of convoluted, judgemental nonsense. Good luck.
I made an account so I can rant. I've never taken psychology before and I wish I hadn't. She's rude, condescending, passive aggressive, and not very understanding. When she "highlights" your work, she makes you feel stupid with all the things you've done "wrong" in your assignment.
This was my easiest class so far at Clark. She is very clear with her rubrics, understanding if you communicate, and grades quickly.
Tess is nice person, but isn't willing to explain anything. In our weekly discussions there are certain words that we aren't allowed to use, and she has a small, very incomplete, list of those words. She edits your discussions and replies and you get marked down for each word you use that she considers prohibited. I would not recommend her.
Tess was a great professor. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and her canvas presentation, very organized and clear. If you didn't see how clear you weren't looking hard enough. I am excited to take her class in spring. Thanks Tess.
Pretty easy class! We had classes every Wednesday in the morning for an hour to discuss questions we had on the reading. We would come into class with an index card with a question and get credit easily or have a question ready on the discussion post and responded to at least 3 people. The discussion every Tuesday prepares you for the small project
Yevka is an excellent professor that will test the limits of your discussion writing. They're mandatory, and she'll mark down points for using inadmissible words. She's extremely engaging with her students, so help is always an email away. Take this class if you like being challenged.
Tess was an amazing professor, I wasnt sure if I would do good in the format she used but I did well. She was quick with responses and cared alot for students. She always gave annoucments each week putting you on the right foot. I enjoyed her class and Im sure you will too.
She is an expert in censorship. She has a list of "non submittable" words. Words she does not approve of for any of your work in the class. She will highlight your mistakes in discussion posts for the whole class to see. You cannot use 'like' or 'I agree'. You cannot use even the synonym for certain words. It's like walking on eggshells with her.
This class requires very little effort weekly. If you avoid admissible words and do 5 replies for weekly discussions you will get an A+
Feels very much like an English class instead of a psychology class. You lose points from your discussion post for using words that she doesn't like, and although she tells you what these words are, I feel like there's more effort making sure I don't use any words I can't rather than actually learning the content. Very unmotivating.
Each week you do 1-3 reading quizzes (that you can do until 100%, but require you to take breaks, so don't do it last minute) & a discussion post w/ 5 responses. They're not hard, but you must carefully curate your post or you'll be marked down for wrong formatting & inadmissible words. I tried harder to not mess up than to learn the content :/
I am taking her class currently and I wish I had not. Never would I take this class again given how the discussion posts are more focused on other annoying aspects that I feel don't relate to the class at all, and not so much on the content of our posts - you will be graded harshly on it. Trust, do NOT take this class.
Do. Not. Take. Her. Class. I made this account just to leave Yevka a review. I dropped the class during the second week of the quarter because of her grading. She takes off so many points for inane formatting issues. I got a B on a discussion post because I bolded something. I messaged her about it and she ignored it.
Tess has a strict grading system, but the class is manageable if you stay on top of readings and participate in discussions. I found unstuckstudy helpful for preparing quizzes and projects.
Was out of the country for first week of classes and had no internet access. I emailed Tess four weeks in advance to get the work done over winter break and she refused to open the module and said I could not make up the work I was missing, and that I can access the internet no matter where I am. The lack of flexibility was extremely frustrating.
