SUPER BORING... also super easy if you can manage to drag yourself to class everyday you will get an A. If you don`t like me... went to 5 classes all year you can still get an A all his stuff is on ppt :)
Tetsu is a really great teacher. He's helpful and explains concepts with clarity. One of my fave instructors I've had at MacEwan.
He is a very nice and easy going proff. He provides examples in class that relate almost directly to his exams. His only downfall is that he is a terrible marker and does not give any part marks whatsoever.
One of the most inconsistent professors I have ever had. Really hard assignments, and projects. First midterm everyone did badly cause it was too hard then the second midterm was so easy to make the marks higher. He focuses on the math but his tests are more geared toward theory. Does no review for exams and does not give any hints.
Great prof however his expectations on how much prior knowledge you should have regarding the application of software and hardware is unreal. He is a computer engineer and expects his "business" students to be on the same level as him regarding the material. His tests are open book but very hard. Google will not save you.
Tetsu is a super nice guy and will memorize everyones names. Very helpful when needed. He marks pretty easy on papers and assignments, HOWEVER exams are very hard and he doesn't give part marks. Im a B+ student and probably will end up with a B or B- because I got 52% on the final because it was ridiculous.
Really bad prof. Exams are not at all reflective of the material he teaches. Recommend not going to class and just reading the textbook. Also, my group partner missed the assignment deadline, I emailed it to tetsu 3 minutes after the deadline with an apology and he would not accept. Avoid this prof if you can.
Awful teacher. You have to watch blackboard like a hawk because there will be assignments not listed in the syllabus that are a part of other assignments due later. Not understanding at all when it comes to late assignments even when there are reasonable circumstances. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
He's a great prof who tries to make a horribly dry class interesting. Always kind and tries to make sure everyone succeeds. The group project is time consuming and hard but he tried to help groups out as much as possible.
He was very vague with what was going to be on the test and the tests were really hard. for the final project you have to hand in an interm and theres was a list of the stuff to be included. When we got it back he docked us marks for elements we were "missing" but didnt require until the final submission. I would not recommend this teacher.
EXAMS ARE HARD, one exam/assignment aftrer another. no assignmnets marks are given before the final exam. lazy, the grades were given without showing the marked assignment. unfair.
He has poor reviews but I just took his summer class and was surprised how much I liked him. His tests are challenging but not unreasonable and he wants you to go to his class so he puts questions on exams from his lecture slides. He's a slow marker and doesn't give a marked key back but that might've just been because of summer. Overall he's good.
Tetsu is strict. He has guidelines how to write papers for him and he won't accept late grades. Nothing wrong with that, because his expectations are clear and his assignments are completely do-able. If you put in an average effort and show up to class and sometimes read his notes or the book then you'll pass with a decent grade.
Very unclear about requirements for assignments. He tries to explain what is expected but kind of jumps around when talking about things and makes it confusing. To be fair its a dry course to begin with but Tetsu doesn't make it that much better.
Hes a nice guy but he reads off the PP which doesn't really help. Id rather just look at the PP notes at home than go to class. His tests aren't that hard if you knew what you're doing. Personally I wouldn't take a class with him again.
Tetsu is a great prof, makes a boring class interesting. Also gives a lot of extra marks if you show up to classes
The class was not my cup of tea, but he is honestly a friendly teacher. As an Information teacher he knows how to connect with students online and assign projects and information via blackboard. He allows cheat sheet with his tests.
He's an entertaining professor considering the dryness of material, gives lots of extra credit if you show up to class and participate. Allows cheat sheet for all his exams. He is fair, assigns participation on projects appropriately and is approachable if you have concerns with anything.
Tetsu is a kind and passionate prof. He gives bonus marks and allows cheat sheets for tests, but we fell behind during the second half of the class so we blew through the material way too fast. Assignments were sometimes not graded over a month after the due date, and the tests weren't always representative of lectures. Decent class, with issues.
Tetsu shows a passion for MSYS, but the dryness and somewhat boring lectures made it hard for me personally to pay attention in class. His assignments and outlines were confusing at points, but if you were to talk to him, he would be there to try to clear it up. We wrote our final not knowing 35% of our grade, and that was very frustrating.
Worst class to take. Although it is mandatory to take, MSYS is soo dry and long. Such useless information. Tetsu takes a long time to give feedback so dont be surprised by his laziness to give feedback. His tests do ask alot of in-depth information so be prepared. Just glad this class is over.
He makes a dry class a bit more interesting with in class discussions. It is a boring class but it is useful knowledge. There is a big group project that is very time-consuming. His midterm and final are difficult and a bit abstract. He does allow cheat sheets which are very beneficial and forces you to study. It is not an easy course.
Tetsu is a really genuine professor, he is such a nice guy. His exams are tough; they may seem easy until you get the results (a month or so after you write the exam) and he doesn't know how to teach a class properly. He also doesnt respond to emails very often. Overall, he's a great guy but I wouldn't take another class with him.
Tetsu has the potential to be a great prof, he really does. Unfortunately he wastes his knowledge by trying to be excessively strict. This man genuinely appears to get joy out of being rude to students. Based on how comfortable you are with technology will determine how hard this class is, but Tetsu annoyed me enough that I never showed up to class
Tetsu doesn't provide clarity when I have a question; A lot of our classmates had to ask each other for help because Tetsu wasn't clear enough. Reads off of powerpoints and then rants on and by the end of the class, there was just confusion with what we learned. Nice guy, but he doesn't know how to teach a class. Participation is 20% of your mark
Avoid taking his class! He is very unclear when it comes to explaining assignments and is also a hard marker. Takes over a month to mark anything, and will most likely not reply to your email. Lectures are boring, and on exams he would ask specific questions on a random youtube video he showed in class.
Pros: interesting lectures, involved, doesn't just read off slides Cons: unclear rubrics, prof doesn't attend all scheduled classes, large group assignments (unclear)
He started the semester with great potential; however that quickly dropped off. He barely explains large assignments, offers little rubric, and doesn't provide any examples, leaving you to guess what he wants done. He rarely responds to any emails, and he randomly doesn't show up to some classes only notifying you afterwards.
took more than 1 month to mark assighments and exams, didnt provide example for exam or large group assignment, barely reply email this professor is one of the worest professor i ever seen.
He's actually terrible. I don't understand how he is still teaching. Mind you, his teaching includes ONLY reading off slides. Even after 4 years of university, he's probably the laziest and least helpful. Class avg was 50% and nothing was done. Opt out of this prof, or you'll regret it.
Tetsu is an amazing prof! I would advice showing up to every class because you can learn alot of what will be on exams and he gives you bonus marks. Also if you show up to his review class you get an awesome bonus mark. His slides are what all the tests are on but you must read all the chapters to have a good understanding. Skimming will not do.
Its MGTS so that means lots of lectures, lots of practice. With that said, this teacher is very knowledgeable, he makes the lectures engaging even with this dry subject. very eager to help and ensure you are getting the concepts.
MGMT107 is easy class, as long as you do the online homework. Tetsu is helpful during lab class. He'll help if you have questions. However, if you have questions during the exam he will NOT give you tips. Do the online homework and remember the techniques and you will surely pass the exam. Excel exam is 20% so be sure memorize the techniques.
Tetsu is a great professor. I enjoyed having him in 107, and I wish I could have him again. He is funny, quick to answer questions, and all around a friendly guy. Very patient with the class and good at explaining stuff. It's not a hard class, just refer to the formula sheets and videos and you will pass easily.
If you can handle Word, Excel and PowerPoint this class is an Easy A He is very knowledgeable if you need help
Pretty good teacher is clear in his explanations and goes through lots of examples in class and is also very nice and helpful
He is nice and intelligent
Very nice and funny. He is kind of boring to listen to but he is very clear in what he expects. You don't have to show up. This class was an easy A.
This is an online course even if you register for a normal class. the textbook is available through chapters if you do not want the online version. very fast crash course on Microsoft office 2016. prof answers emails the next day and teaches at UofA as well. no midterm or final but capstones and chapter exams.
Not good at all never reply to emails.
This class is a joke no matter who you take it with, but super easy with Tetsu as well. This class grading largely depends on Mission Possible, the group project where you create a start-up business, midterm and (non-cumulative) final, and minor small assignments. Tests are 90% lecture and 10% textbook-based. Easy class, would take Tetsu again.
Tetsu's class is awesome. The course is super easy but involves a lot of small assignments and they're very repetitive. You only have to go to class for the orientation and exams, otherwise it's all online. Very accessible through email if you have questions. He takes a while to mark assignments and update grades on blackboard though.
I wouldn't say he's a bad professor, more so that the Busn 201 course is a joke. They bring in speakers and on the midterm and final, they have questions regarding where said speaker attended university... Busn 201 was a waste of time and difficult for no reason, but Tetsu made it as enjoyable as possible.
Highly recommend him as a prof, his blackboard notes are very easy to understand and his learning outcomes are very clear. Even if an assignment has nothing to do with him (part of the seminar) he will always be there to help. He gives out a cheat cheat before exams explaining exactly what you need to study so you don't waste your time.
The class was basically online. Attendance was not mandatory. You only have to show up for exams. He was really nice and chill. The only thing that I did not like about him was when he accidentally sent emails to our class that he would give bonus marks, twice! but he sent them to the wrong class (my class) as a mistake in 2 different occasions...
Nakashima does not provide clear learning expectations because his lectures are all all over the place and he doesn't tell his students what they actually need to know. His lecture notes also include irrelevant information that are not related to the course material. Overall, I would not recommend him.
Everyone's keeps saying this course is a joke and honestly i can see both sides of this argument. On one hand its pretty much entrepreneurship without the risks of owning an actual business. But then again its just a series of individual and group projects...i passed so its whatever but i mean get yourself a good group and you'll be fine
The class is ridiculous. Literally learnt nothing. His notes are horrible and lectures are filled with him droning on and preaching philosophical things about sustainable business. For the exams, go over the notes and supplement with the textbook. Make sure to know what the words which seem irrelevant in the notes mean, and you'll do fine.
This class is already kind of boring content wise and Tetsu didn't do much to make it more interesting or easier to understand. The group project for this class is garbage and Tetsu didn't do much to explain how to use the simulation program so he was kinda useless there. When he replies to questions, he often avoids the actual question.
This course was completed online so I understand that there can be challenges with offering it this way. However, he did not make this class easy whatsoever. The midterm was extremely hard and not enough time is given to complete, as well as hard assignments and a group project that was hard to complete without meeting face to face. Avoid online!
Definitely an unfair teacher in terms of test marks, I mean partial marks are crucial in a class like this and he does not give them. When you look for help he avoids your emails. Not much to say, your best bet is to pick the other professors as your teacher since this one tends to want to do the bare minimum for his students.
Avoid at ALL COST seriously he made MGTS352 a nightmare. He expects work to be shown on midterm and final. The class average was 50% on the midterm we got but his solution was to retake it. Prepare to teach yourself everything if you take his class. No feedback is given on anything agh just a DISASTER and waste of time honestly.
Honestly the worst professor at MacEwan. He does not know how to teach ANYTHING. Doesn't give part marks even though you demonstrate a thorough understanding of the material. I dropped the class, sold my laptop, and surrendered my degree because of this guy. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I did not enjoy.
Arguably a useless teacher. I mean everything is taught by yourself (won't even reply or expand on things). Save your time and money on this professor and choose a reasonable one. That all I have to say...
Just horrible. Would not elaborate. Just read directly from slides. Class time/ lectures were useless. No feedback given. Does not answer emails. Gives extremely hard quiz and finals. Literally taught myself the course material
He shouldn't be teaching period. He does not provide any feedback neither replies back to any of the questions asked during the class. He makes a lot of false promises about providing additional sample exams to prepare for midterm and final but falls short on his promises. Project Management should not be as painfull as he made it out to be.
I will speak for my whole class. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DO NOT TAKE A CLASS WITH HIM. My grade 3 teacher cared more about my learning than he did. Never answers emails, you learn on your own from the textbook, terrible class, he never posts anything to help expand upon what you read. I honestly do not know how this is an acceptable way to teach.
Tetsu was a decent choice for this class. He went over concepts during live lectures, and then made us complete module assignments. He didnt go over certain concepts in lots of detail, but always answered questions if you needed help. The midterm content was fair but tight for time. All in all it was a good class.
This prof is pretty nice and caring but the exams were IMPOSSIBLE!! He has good intentions but holyyy the exams were way too intense. It would've been nice if he gave any hints or tips for the exams because they were tough. I'm fairly good at math and stats courses and only managed to finish his class with a B- ONLY because I aced assignments+labs.
Worst prof I have ever had. Did not care about his students what so ever. With online learning, rarely replied to emails and didn't grade assignment in a timely matter. Pretty unorganized and not so helpful. If you take this class, just know that you will have to teach yourself everything. I would not recommend him at all.
The course is easy itself.
No video lectures, a small number of notes of his own, and majority textbook reading. His exams and quizzes depended most on the textbook. my group had a tech problem where we couldn't hand in our assignment and he didn't do anything about it. we sent him an email a minute after the due date with the assignment and still got a 0. wouldnt take again
I took Tetsu for mgmt107 and busn201. Just save your time and don't take him. He was terrible at explaining and doesn't care about students. I took mgmt107 in person, got in the class late. Told me that there was only 2 quizzes I needed to attend and the rest was online. Turns out there were 4, missed a 25% exam and dropped the class.
Just dont take him, gets notes from textbook, just reads slides do it alone not worth taking the class.
This guy reads off slides and is just not the best prof. Super hard to reach on email, don't even attempt to do so. Doesn't really help with any questions.
Your grade depends on how well you do with the group project (40% of your grade) that is done throughout the course. Get a bad group and you will likely get a low grade. He also does not mark on time and I'm still waiting to receive my marks for assignments my group and I completed last month. This class was not made well to be an online course.
A bulk majority of this class depends on how well you do on the group project (as prior reviews stated, it's 40%) He also chooses the groups for you. This prof does not mark on time, I should not be waiting an entire month to get my assignment back. You will also end up teaching yourself the content, all he does is post the textbook numbers to read
Worst prof ever. He's disorganized, he doesnt respond to emails, he isnt prompt on grading the assignments, and doesnt provide clear instructions. Sometimes hell send emails about what he expects on the projects/assignments the day before the deadline. You will also have to teach yourself everything because he doesnt lecture.
He's a professor that tries his best to explain the concepts. However, he can be vague and complicated. Statistics can be an easy course if he provides more details with solving math problems. Study as much as you can and connect with peers in this class if you find it hard to understand math solving.
Very vague with his instructions and directions, which makes you unsure of his expectations for marking. Takes very long to mark as well so you never know how you are doing. Never responds to any emails so don't even waste your time. The majority of this class is group-based work- so if he chooses a bad group for you, you're screwed. I would avoid!
I took this class asynchrones so I cant speak for his in person classes but from my personal experience he responded to my emails within 4-6 hours and he made the online learning material fairy easy to navigate. I know everyone has different experiences but hes a pretty standard prof with no huge red flags or anything. Again thats just me tho
Frustrating, hard to contact, like talking to a brick wall. Irritating and exasperating. So much group work, which does not relate to the teachings in the textbook. The readings are strenuous and too long. It's almost like he forgets you have other classes. Good luck reaching out if you have difficulties, the man is a phantom, almost non-existent.
Hes not very clear in what he wants from you. His wording doesnt make sense, and then when you get ahold of him he makes you feel stupid for not understanding what his strange wording means. Otherwise hes decent
About 40% of the grade is group projects which sucks. Text book reading are fairly relevant. Prof. takes ages to email back, good luck asking questions in a semi speedy manner. Honestly this class is terrible with the Prof. take it with someone else if possible. I feel like I learned very little during my time in this class.
Saw bad reviews but had to take his class, definitely what people warned. Huge group projects require a meeting or 2 every week with randomly assigned classmates. No video lectures just a block of text notes posted and assigned reading. Easy to complete if you get a good group but the content was so dry and boring.
This professor failed to organize assignments and lectures. Lecture material was not pertinent to assignments. Instructions to assignments were not given, as he had forgotten. He submitted a PDF that evening instead. He forgot to give us the criteria for our project until the next week, with the entire class emailing him. Does not respond to emails
Unorganized Takes months to mark Exams - impossible, long, not enough time Bad exam? Ur fault you should know it Won't reply to emails Gets confused when asked questions in class Rambles Releases assignments 3 days before due Can't review exams after Can't see grades Changed syllabus 2/3 weeks in Condescending
Listen to the bad reviews. Doesn't know how to teach. Asked the class to rate exam, 99% said impossibly hard, he said it's not hard we should know the content. His exams are too long for 50 minute limit and you have to submit your work in the time limit. Does not reply to emails. Rambles. No instructions. Unorganized is an understatement.
taught lectures that weren't on the textbook when the tests were based on the textbook so complete waste of Time and would leave class early
I recommend taking this professor if you are an introvert and have a hard time finding group members. He'll assign you a group if you're unable to find one. He's lenient when it comes to grading. I can tell we made several mistakes in our group assignments but he'd still be easy on us.
The day before the final, he still hasn't marked 5 assignments. No one knows their mark or if they're passing. It's impossible to calculate marks urself b/c he made so many changes and the weights aren't the same anymore. He sent out information about the final the day before the final as well. He will also ignore all of your emails. AVOID.
Other comments about him not being prepared for the course as a whole is true. Not sure what my mark is in the class still and I just wrote my final today. Doesn't reply to emails. Rambles on in class. Late to class multiple times with no warning. AVOID his classes.
Impossible to get ahold of. Takes 3.5 weeks to receive grades back. Group project teams were assigned three days before our first due date. New members added the day before our first due date. Group work was worth a total of 40% of our final grade but had no relevance to the coursework. Midterm information announced day before. So frustrating!!!
I was totally surprised to see he wasn't like the reviews on here. He mainly uses slide presentations to teach, which I saw lots of people complain about, but he still taught well... I don't know what people expected. He marked my assignments around a week after the due dates. All in all, in my opinion he's not as bad as the reviews make him seem.
Great proff who brings a lot of energy to class, just a very boring class itself. BUSN 201 was very dull but I highly reccomend the proff + he grades easy but beware most of this class is group work.
He treated our CompSci class as a business class. We were expected to learn dates/names/quotes from readings that he briefly mentioned instead of software eng. info. When asked why its helpful he would do verbal gymnastics to make him feel better about his choices and said we're grade grabbing. we weren't given any marks until the end of the term
Does not respond to emails for weeks at a time, it is practically impossible to get a hold of him. Class is 40% group work, if you get a good group, you will be fine. Does not post any lecture videos whatsoever. Simply, posts a few paragraphs for each module and expects us to be prepared for the midterm and final. Stay away from any class with him
His tests make no sense and don't cover ANYTHING with what we learned. Then he will give you a midterm every week for each unit. We will learn a unit on Monday and provide very FEW examples of the unit. These examples have no solution or help for how to solve them. You are on your own with this class. You will be teaching yourself. No office hours.
He would definitely be better in an in-person class. I dealt with many issues in the group project, and he didn't help much. A lot of things I lost marks on were not at all in the assignment guidelines, kinda seemed like he expected me to read his mind.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Although he is a nice professor, he's teaching does not match up with the exams he gives us. The midterms were too long for a 50 minute class; and the final was supposely to be 3 hours for 48 questions (40 mc and 8 long answers), they were difficult questions that were unable to solve within 5 minutes. Rarely answer emails.
Emailed him 4 times throughout the semester asking for clarification, his course is a mess, only responded once. Takes forever to mark assignments. The group project was the dumbest assignment I've ever done, not sure how it related to the course. You have to buy access to mcgraw for assignments like I'm already paying $600 for the course for what?
Very, very disorganized, many of us emailed him multiple times throughout the semester without every getting a response. Instructions for our final group project was posted 5 days before the due date, and any feedback given on assignments was very vague and was given about 4 weeks after handing assignments in. Definitely don't recommend.
I took online class for mgts 113 and he DOES NOT REPLY to any emails sent by his students. Do not take his class.
I took MGTS 113. For all that is holy avoid this class with Tetsu. Getting him to respond to your emails is like winning the lottery. The class is also very difficult and you will 100% be learning and doing it all yourself without his help. I have no idea why I'm paying for this course. Absolutely disgusted with the "education."
Impossible to get a hold of through email
prof tetsu , never responds to emails, does not provide clear instructions, and does not grade anything on time. feels like we do not even have a prof.
Tetsu was a nice instructor but it took him forever to mark the group project (3 parts marked individually).Vague on aspects of rubrics.Lots of reading to be done but at least he gave plenty of time to complete the assignments in the Connect program.I liked the program because you would be able to review the topics and it helps to focus your study.
I really enjoyed his lectures and working through problems as a class. Professor Nakashima is extremely knowledgeable and has great communication skills. I also appreciate his sense of humour. I would highly recommend you consider taking this course with him. There was a textbook for people that want that resource, but you could learn other ways.
The class can be frustrating due to disorganization and lack of responsiveness from the professor. However, engaging with the material and using helpful study tools like Unstuck study can make the experience manageable. The group projects are a mixed bag.
