The professor was a good instructor. All of the assignments were pretty clear cut and easy to follow but if you do not meet the requirements you will get docked points. He does allow for bonus assignment, so that is good if you need some extra points to bring up your grade. A lot his assignments were based off of the end of chapter questions.

Very understanding professor, gives clear instructions and if you do not answer a discussion correctly, will give details as to what was stated or done wrong.

He was a great professor. Gave me an extension on all course work for a family emergency and was a very lenient grader. Always there if you needed him, and provided good feedback on assignments. I would definitely take him again.

Extra ordinary professor, took online 8-week course with him. I have never seen a class organized as such. He's very helpful, responds to your email and answers question. He's laid back in a good way. Provides good feedback and grades fairly. His exams and midterm are completely different from stuff covered but he doesn't make the exams.

Good instructor, but he teaches a difficult course. In order to be successful you really need to do the assignments and communicate with him if you are having issues. Other students may be struggling as well, so he may create a video showing you step by step on how to answer the problem. Would definitely take again if I needed more ITP courses.

Great Teacher! Has extra credit. I would say the best part of taking him would be his email replies in a timely manner with help and still being able to turn in late work. Its programming so you really should learn everything regardless of your grade. Just learn everything from page 1 on and you should pass fine.

This professor encourages learning. Even if your solution to the problem is not the most efficient he will still give you the credit, and he will instruct you on how to create a better solution. I would take this professor again for the mere fact that his aim is to help one learn the material.

**THIS WAS AN ELI COURSE** Programming assignments were somewhat difficult. Got harder as the class went on, which is to be expected. There are a lot of book assignments at some times. Be ready to work but if you put the time into it you should pass.

The Professor was very responsive. He made sure he followed up all questions with not only responses but a recording example on Blackboard! While the class was tough, mainly because the book was so broad and didn't dive into any subjects, while the tests/exams expect you to clearly master the concepts. Overall had a good experience!

Professor Maung is great. This was a bit challenging since I took this course during a 12 week session. His assignments will cause you to thing critically. One major piece of advice for this class to NOT fall behind! Also please study for the final exam!

Exams were hard especially the final. Be prepared for the hand written final. I recommend to do all your assignments and you will pass this class with a least a C. You don't need a text book however you will need myprogramming lab for this course.

I took this class online. It is definitely doable but you need to keep up with assignments weekly. DO not fall behind. Teacher provides lots of feedback and has online demonstrations.

Took Professor Maung for a beginners Java class. He post YouTube videos for you too watch that match the information that your expected to read. I just watched the video's and followed along and that was enough for me. Only 2 tests and the first one is all multiple choice, but kind of tricky. The second is a hand written exam that you code for.

The best IT Professor at NOVA. Cares deeply for his students, is available 24/7 to answer any questions. Goes beyond what is expected and makes it very hard to "not" learn anything in his class. Java is tough! Take it with him.

Professor Maung is very helpful and even when you do get the question he will also provide more information just in case you didn't know. Which helped me understand the topic even more. Lastly, he is ver accountable when he can't grade,reach, or send emails out to the students and he lets you know what is going on when he can.

Professor Maung is very responsive to student's emails and calls. While reading is involved, there aren't much assignments during the semester. This means not completing assignments really hurts your grade!!!! He offers extra credit (thank goodness) and truly cares how the students are doing in the class.

This was one of the most easiest online courses that I have taken for my Information Technology. The tests and quizzes are open notes which makes life more easier for quiz and test grades.

Not my first time taking an online course, but it was my first time taking a coding class. The course moves quickly through the 12 weeks and grading is based on Java install (5%), MyProgrammingLab submissions (15%), weekly quizzes (10%), weekly assignments (40%), a midterm(10%) and a final (20%). Professor is very responsive via email. Overall good

Java is a tough subject to learn, especially for beginners, and especially as an online course. Professor Maung is aware of that and grades fairly. The assignments aren't overwhelming, but you do have to work in order to earn your grade. This is not necessarily because the professor assigns too much work, but because of the subject itself.

Professor Maung is very fair in his expectations and grading. If he is late responding to questions, which he usually is not, he will not penalize a late assignment. There is ample opportunity for extra credit to be earned. He provides informational sources beyond the textbook to review for assignments and uses DB collaborate for his own lessons.

If he is unable to email you back about work before due, he will not penalize you. Grade is based on MPL, quizzes, java assignments, and two tests.

I love this class, Ive taken this class at another university and the teacher wasn't as good at explaining concepts. Than posts very detailed tutorials on all the concepts that were very helpful when completeing programs.

Professor Than is a great teacher. Even though I took this class online, you can certainly feel that his teaching ability and wanting you to learn something is more important to him than just giving out grades. Taking his class will help you learn how to program and is a great building block if you are perusing any fields in Computer Sciences area.

I took this course online for 16-weeks so I can't really say about his teaching style but in order to pass his class, you have to be able to understand the material and practice a lot with problems. Has high expectations, but holds his ability to instruct to a high standard and has confidence in his students. Often takes a while to respond to emails, but more than makes up for it with leniency and great help. Lots of reading and work; final exam weighs heavily; excellent, caring teacher. Fair Grader, but a hard class to take online. Would recommend taking it in person.

He was responsive to questions, and made multiple demo videos for many of the assignments to explain the code. He allowed some assignments to be turned in late as long he as informed before hand and did not take away any points for it.

He is a very communicative professor and easy to contact. I've had professors take upwards of a week to return emails, but Professor Maung is very prompt. This is essential for teaching in general, and I wish more professors were as easy to contact as he is.

It's not an easy A class, but I wouldn't say it's difficult either. As long as you do your work you'll be fine. Good videos. He's a DTE guy, and he understands when things come up and you need extra time or help. He genuinely cares about whether you're understanding the material. He's pretty responsive. You can't copy paste and pass the class.

I took ITP 120 with Professor Maung, and it was an incredible experience. It was an ONLINE course for Java Programming I, so I was initially intimidated. As the semester progressed, the work load and due dates became familiar, which in turn made the experience comfortable. Take Professor Maung if you desire to learn and pass of course! Easy!

Fantastic Professor. Very Helpful and fair grader. Programming is very difficult for me and Professor Huang was very supportive in my efforts.

Prof. Maung does all but 3 assignments for you, which helps your grade. Allows re-submissions, lots of easy extra credit, allows a cheat sheet on midterm, final exam not weighed too heavily. Java can be difficult, but Prof. Maung does everything to make it easier for you.

Professor Muang is very clear on expectations and understands not everyone will understand the material on the first attempt. He walks you through how to complete the assignment, which is extremely helpful. Commenting on code is a majority of the grade, which helps keep you from copy/paste the assignment, as you need to understand what's happening.

Although there is lots of very challenging homework that takes a lot of time to complete - the professor is always available to assist and makes a significant amount of reference material available on BlackBoard Collaborate to assist. Clearly establishes grading criteria up front - grades fairly. Hand written final graded for syntax.

I took him online and I had a good experience. His assignments are easy and his final exam is hand written since you have to write some codes. Also for the midterm you have multiple choice questions. Overall he is a good professor.

The expectations for the class are clear and the syllabus and timeliness are all straightforward. The projects are very standard java and it is combined with the use of myprogramminglab. Midterm online (at a testing center) with a cheat sheet and final on paper (no notes). You can stay ahead of the deadlines to make life easier.

Such a great professor. I was hesitant about taking such a difficult course online but i'm glad I did. Yes, you have to read a lot and it's a lot of HW. But the same can go for an in-person class. He would respond in a relatively quick manner, he was rough with grading but very lenient with giving extra credit on a few assignments. You also had a ton of work to do weekly, which requires lots of time outside of class, but he's very helpful as well if you don't understand.

Professor Muang is such a great teacher, although he is very busy, but he always try to keep in touch and response as soon as possible. Of course, you have to do your assignment to get a good great. Took the ELI course, and never had any trouble getting in contact with him when I needed help. He provides plenty of reference material to make sure any questions you may have get answered. He is very encouraging, and always willing to help you perfect your code.

My Programming Lab sometimes was very hard to complete.

This is one of the best professors that I've had out of my entire college career, including bachelor's. He is great because he challenges students to actually learn this content but doesn't grade on the heavy side, because honestly this stuff is hard. Taking this online, I had to mostly read the text because powerpoints lacked necessary depth.

Java was a little challenging to me. Beginners like me may need to read the materials repeatedly to understand fully. The course materials such as My Programming Lab, video tutorial, and programming demo that the professor provided, were very helpful. He took care of the students' progress and gave timely feedback. He was a good teacher.

Plenty of resources available for an online course. Obviously, you get the normal things like the textbook, assignments, and My Programming Lab. There were also some pretty good video and audio materials provided for when you chose to use them. Even better, for most assignments, the professor recorded his own videos to help.

Professor Maung is one of the best professors I've had in an online course at NVCC. His communication and response time are excellent, and he happily volunteers to help by providing video tutorials and making sure that you have a fair shot at learning Java. He is a competent, helpful, and friendly teacher, and is one of the best at NVCC.
