PLEASE DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU HAVENT DONE SO ALREADY..YOU'LL REGRET IT. he's very difficult.
just do your home work and stop looking for the easy way out. He is a good teacher. there is nothing wrong with him.
Very difficult to understand due to his accent. The work isn't very difficult if you can figure out what he's trying to explain. He gives a lot of homework, but he's very generous in grading exams. Take lots of notes and study often in order to pass this class!
very difficult class. 45 people started, and by finals, only 7 remained (i'm NOT kidding!). people were dropping like flies because his tests were incredibly hard and loves to give lots of homework. if you're not the analytical type, dont take him.
This guy talks to the board and his left side of the room. Because of his accent, it's very difficult to follow. Took the class 4 nights a week for two weeks and dropped. Too stressful, I'm taking it with another teacher and it's going to be my only class this semester. I hope I don't have him again.
He was an aweful teacher 5 people remained in the class after we were packed in the begining. He messed up grades, then whe n I would bring papers back to him he would change the grade months later. He doesnt care about the students. He must have become a teracher because he needed some kindd of power trip that he wasnt going to get else where. I would say do not take class with this man!!!!!!!
Its a difficult class. However "wu"thang le teaches it well
he gives so much homwork. and the tests are extreamly hard. but he is veary helpful.
He is a great instructor. Gives study guides before test and offers extra credit. His syllabus is clear and follows is all semester long. Just do your homework and you'll be fine. Other people look at his accent as an excuse for not passing the class but it's not bad at all. You'll understand him. Don't blame him for you failure.
Great teacher, small accent not a problem! If you do your homework and try hard you'll do good. Math 10 is not an easy class but with all his help it is. Definetly recommend!
Great teacher. His tests are not that horrible if you study and do your homework. The material is very dificult, however, and if you think that you are going to pass the course without doing much work then you will have a horrible time regardless of the teacher.
thang is the hardest teacher. I dont know how anybody passes his class. our class has 1 a and two b's, mostly everyone else is below 50 percent...so sad..
this guy has the personality of a dial tone
terrible teacher. doesnt speak cleary and is unhelpful, most of the class i was in failed.
EASY CLASS if you do all your homework. his accent is not a problem at all. helpful and funny professor. all tests are based on homework only.
Do not take Le for calculus. - 3 hours of homework a day. - He Gives endless difficult worksheets which blow, because there is no reference to see how to solve a problem or to check to see if you got it right. - Terrible at teaching--He does not explain things thoroughly. - His tests are very hard. He will ruin your GPA and teach you little.
overall, a good teacher. He gives study guides for the tests that are very close to what the actual tests are like, and is eager and willing to help. His accent poses no threat to your comprehension of the lessons, so don't believe the people who say that. His class is good, but the subject matter is difficult by nature, so be prepared.
THIS GUY ROCKS. HE IS ONE OF THE BEST TEACHERS IN THE WORLD. HE IS KIND OF HARD BUT YOU WILL GET ALOT FROM HIS CLASS AND YOU'LL BE READY FOR NEXT COURSE
I have a hard time with math and I had dropped this course twice before sticking with it, but Dr. Le really helped me get through the material. He was always accessible, helpful, and made me feel comfortable enough to ask questions when I didn't understand. The class is hard no matter who you take, but if you struggle with math I recommend Dr. Le!
Le can't teach at all, all he does is copy it out of the book. And when we ask for help, he just say he's already showed us and doesn't help. Dont take his class unless its a last resort!
Thang Le is a terrible teacher in my class there was a total of 20 students and half of these people received an "F"....
Hard teacher, expects you to do lots of homework. Tests are difficult, no multiple choice, must show ALL work. He does let you use notecards on tests, though. Goes through lessons too quickly. Attendance is not mandatory. Overall, you will pass IF you work hard and study.
Don't take this teacher. he is very hard. half of our class had an F. tests are extremely hard. study guides are useless.
this teacher is horrible his class is boring and he is horrible when you ask questions. he loses his patience really easy. i would not recomen you to take this teacher. you will not do good.
He gets frusterated easy. He is well versed in math and teaching a lower level math class is like teaching 2 +2 to him.I do not recommend any one take him. I finally decided to only ask the class tutors for help. Nill in the compassion area.
He is the worst teacher i ever had he doesn't care about his student. he talks down to you like you an idiot. he doesn't help you when you want help he wants you to due all the work by your self and the tutor help you and teach you way better than he does.
The class is not hard, DR. LE is ignorant. If you have trouble with math, do not take the course. I got every answer on the tests correct, but because I didn't have enough "work", my grade ended up a C. He's ignorant, and in all honesty, when someone had a question, their hand would shake in the air. Please don't take him. A mistake, guaranteed.
this teacher sucks, i did all my homework and i got almost 100% on all my quizzes and i still got and f...
This Teacher is bad, he over exaggerated on how much homework he gives. this class took over my whole semester and made it hell for me. Sometimes i couldnt even understand his words, the exams are hard also. You basically have to go into the class already knowing the material to pass the class. Do not take this teacher avoid him if you can!
He is a tough no nonsense teacher but he does his job. He can get frustrated so if you're sensitive and bad at math then don't take the class. He has a Vietnamese accent so that may muddle some clarity. I worked hard to get an 87% in his course and he gave me an A because he saw I worked hard and made it to class. He does have some grace.
Dr. Le is ALWAYS WILLING TO HELP. Read before going to his office hours. Math teachers cannot shove knowledge into your brain. PRACTICE. It is best to do a couple of the (easy) problems before class (USE cramster.com) to see a way a solve theproblems
Pretty easy class but teacher is boring and not very clear.
Assignments are harder than the actual test. Hes not the best at making his lesson clear. I understood his tutors more than him.
This guy sucks. Do not take him at all cost.
His tests are easy, but you have to study on your own. Hes not clear at all and if you ask questions he will make you feel like if you were stupid. Really smart person, but also an awful teacher. I would not recommend taking him, but if you have no choice, study really hard on your own and seek help at any tutoring center at the college.
I took him for Math 57 and I got a C without even trying. I took him for Math 54 and I got a B. If you pay attention and go to class, it should be very easy. He also has tutors to help. He does have an accent but it isn't as bad as everyone says it is. He does assign homework everyday but how else are you supposed to learn? Practice makes perfect
Go to class, pay attention, do the homework, study, get an A.
Don't take him for Calculus.. the class started with 48+ students.. and ended up with about 12 or less.. students dropped his class.. even with us 12 students, the class average after the finals is 65%..
Dr Le is an excellent professor. Take lots of notes and don't be afraid to ask questions, especially if you think it's a stupid one.
However, he's not very good at explaining problems and he gets upset whenever you ask him a go over a problem again. Study guides are very similar to the actual test and remember to save ALL study guides because they're the study guide for the final.
Super hard to understand. Not helpful at all very confusing. I taught myself the material and then read a novel during lecture. turned my homework in lab and left early. hated every minute of his class. but it was easy got an A
He is impossible to understand and he explains things very poorly. I have no idea what he said...at all. I just taught myself the entire course (which was easy because I was homeschooled for 12 years) and turned in my homework. So, for me, teaching myself worked out. But if you can't be a little bit self taught dont take him
This is probably one of the worst professors i have had. Horrible at explaining problems, does not keep things interesting, and whenever someone is asking a question, he makes it seem like he explained it crystal clear, which he doesn't. I had to teach myself everything which was not that hard. I would not recommend this guy at all.
Very direct teacher. Be prepared! Go to every class. Ask questions. Take the time to study and and utilize the tutoring center when something confuses you. Get an A.
Good Professor. Very helpful.
doesn't really explain how to do it. trust me! people ask for help and he said its easy no explanation at all.
Dr. Le's class is not easy but it is rewarding to those who take the time to complete the work. He shows you how math applies to life and it made all the difference to me, but the program he used for homework was a pain. His TA, Shane was helpful too. Be prepared to study a lot!
Sucks. He thinks his quizzes and tests are so easy when they're hard. He doesn't explain well. Also, online I added up all my scores and should have gotten a D+ but he gave me a F as my final grade... Take an easier professor. Don't waste a semester of your life with this professor.
I only missed 3 days of class. I did all my homework and got A's on most of them. I still failed. He thinks his quizzes and tests are easy, but they're not.
The reviews of this guy are pretty close to being accurate. His lectures are average at best. He is Not really the best at explaining problems. The Homework is a breeze compared to quizzes and exams. He is a tough professor and there is no doubt about that.
Be prepared for lots of homework and very hard exams when you take his courses.
horrible professor, you ask him a question and he simply says , i can't believe you don't understand. I don't know if in his eyes he expects everyone to know math but he is not helpful at all. When he does help he talks to you in a ridicule way like making you feel dumb. Truly not the best experience…., ps. lack of professionalism!
his lectures are bad. i have to teach myself from the book how to do the math and then go to tutoring if i dont understand something. he doesnt like to answer questions. the quizzes are not difficult but he gives them in the last 5 mins of class which is when you feel rushed and cant think through the problem accurately.
he is not an easy prof at all but grades fair. his pop quizzes are so easy compared to whats on the test. do all the hw and lab assignments since the word problems are the ones that end up on the tests. dont skip any days of lecture. you will get lost. and if you get lost, find a tutor. hes not friendly at all.
forgot to add in previous post... DO NOT BUY/RENT THE BOOK FOR HIS PRE CALC COURSE. you MUST buy a $75 account for webassign since all his hw and lab assignments are done through that site. Webassign has the book on it. save money, dont get the book!
Dr. Le is definitely not an easy teacher, but he is extremely smart and helpful. He explains things in detail and got me back on track with math after not taking a math class in 10 years. I really liked him.
Contrary to the negative reviews, Prof. Le is actually a great teacher. If you go to class, pay attention, do the homework, then you will pass his class. His lectures are very interesting, and the homework is reasonable. He takes the time to thoroughly review difficult homework questions, and he always goes over the weekly quiz.
this teacher is really helpful, he gives fair homework and the test are very easy
Goes through concepts really fast and excepts you to understand right away. Took him because he was better than the other one giving the class.
He is best professor I have ever met. Take his class!! It is going to be a little hard but he is so helpful!!
If you're expecting to take Le and pass without putting in effort you are mistaken. However, Le is always encouraging help from his office hours and always gives good feedback from the daily quizzes and tests. He is a good teacher to have if you want to br disciplined and what is expected of you at higher level institutions.
He is an amazing teacher but this is not a class that you can slack in. He is very clear but you have to pay attention and study or you will fall behind really easily. There is a lot of homework but the lectures are helpful and the are posted online. If you expect an A you're gonna have to really work for it.
OMG.. I am curently taking Professor Le and I totally repent. He teaches fair and he gives online homeowrk and quizes, however, when it comes down to the test, they are way too hard. he gets mad if you ask him questions, and you can hardly understand him, he can be mean and you need to beg for help other wise you wont get it. never taking him again
Mr. Le gives a lot of homework and quizzes and if you do your work and show up practically everyday you'll be fine. The tests can be hard but he still gives points even if its the wrong answer. Sometimes he'll make a lame math joke, kind of funny, he tries.
not clear goes over material very fast gives you lots of homework tests are hard can't get very much help and you can't understand him miss one class and you can't keep up
His lectures consist him doing problems quickly and roughly on the board without really explaining what he's doing, leaving you more confused about what you are even doing. If you want a class where participation is irrelevant and doesn't want to be asked questions and you must learn things on your own& teach yourself this professor is for you!
He just want so fast with each problems. when i ask he to help on a problems he wold say it is simple answer. His assistant more then he do.
Reading the book is vital for the class. He will briefly explain the material in class, but reading is vital to really understand the material. He will do problems on the board but his explanation may not be enough, so you are going to read and study lots to get the material down. Really clear grading scale and lots of homework. You can't slack it.
I had this professor for pre cal and calculus. Toughest professor ever, you basically teach yourself. I never got anything higher than a D on my tests. He expects you to just know things and refers to trig and pre cal a lot. So if you didn't pay attention in those classes you already failed. He's really smart, but not very helpful
Doesn't like when students ask questions. This is math how could you not ask questions? Especially when its calculus. Makes things such as functions confusing just imagine when you get to limits and derivatives.
Some professors who are teaching at COD enjoy giving their students a miserable time and enjoy failing them. Professor Le falls into this category.
Has an accent, can be hard to understand. Tough grader, very conservative with partial credit. Fairly responsive by email. Condescending to students. Gets visibly frustrated when you/class does not understand. Be prepared to understand proofs. Must be able to teach yourself. One time turned me away from his office because it "wasn't office hours".
He DOES NOT TEACH math; he just does the problems. All homework was done online. Don't bother buying the book, all you need is an access code (which has the online book with it). Spent 92 hours in the tutoring center during the summer class, still got a B. Expect to familiarize yourself with the tutoring staff if you plan on getting a decent grade.
I will not recommend this professor to anyone his way of teaching is just horrible! he goes from step 1 to step 5 & won't show work for it unless you ask him to. It's hard to understand the way he teaches , his lectures and homework/tests are very different. I've never had a D before and this was my first . I would not taking him again. So sad .
If you want to learn avoid taking him! His lectures are horrible, he doesn't explain the main ideas of each chapter, but throws tons of unecessary information. He "explains" homework problems with methods he didn't use in his lectures. Be ready to teach yourself and spend hours in tutoring if you want to pass!
I am currently enrolled in Professor Le's Math 60. This class definitely requires you pay attention, and read the chapters. It's also important that you are in class on time, and every day. If there is a emergency, contact him! His accent can be difficult, but his lectures are clear and explained well. If i am confused, I ask for explanation.
If you can avoid this professor AT ALL COSTS. Doesn't thoroughly explains concepts, you will spend more time teaching yourself or from other sources than going to class. Attendance "mandatory" but completely useless to actually go to class.
He is a really bad teacher dosent explain the work and if he does he explains it with the same numbers. You also have to teach yourself in order to pass.
Although he is difficult to follow at times and he expects you to have mastered all the material up to the level you're at, he is a great professor. He doesn't spoon feed you anything. You have to earn your grade. If you can get through one of his classes, then you can truly say you've mastered the course. Great prep for transferring students.
Dr. Le is the professor that prepares you for universities. He taught Math 2A how it should have been taught, with proofs and generalizations. You're going to need to do your homework and read your text to get the most out of his courses. If you're lazy, you're not gonna pass. If you realize you're the one in charge of your success, you can pass.
Hes a really good teacher, has a really thick accent but either way his way of teaching is super easy. I dont see why most people disagree but hes super easy and if you need help hell explain it to you. If i was able to retake the class or take a math class i would take it with him again. Kinda hard to follow at times but still easy A or B
Attendance is mandatory. He really just reiterates material that he expected you to read ahead of time in lecture. His tests and quizzes are hard compared to the HW. He's a really tough grader, so little mistakes can cost you. He also expects you to put a lot of time into this class so I wouldn't recommend taking him if you have a heavy class load.
He was alright. His lectures could get confusing if you didn't read the book beforehand. I found just reading the book to be easy and just do the practice problems he does on the board during lectures. His tests tend to just be HW problems, his finals are some problems from the tests. You can pass with an A by selfstudying and showing up to class.
AVOID. If not, prepared to teach yourself! Don't ask him to repeat anything, he seems bothered by the fact that you don't already know it from his examples.. Questions on his tests are VERY different than what he "teaches", so be prepared to be confused. He said it himself " I don't care if I'm a good teacher". Think it over, before you sign up.
If you are someone who struggles with math DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. Prepare to teach yourself the material. His lectures reflect whats online, the videos and examples on MyOpenMath are much more helpful. Everything is done online, homework, glasswork, quizzes. Tests are the only printed material given out. Test are also weighed very heavy!!!!!
DO NOT TAKE IF YOU WANT TO PASS!! It is impossible to prepare for tests as they are exponentially more difficult than the homework or review problems available. Our first test the highest mark was a 76 and the class average was 55. The test was review from 001A, the introduction to integrals. Please trust me, not worth the risk of your GPA!!
Felt very confused and unclear on the material after basically every class so it left me watching youtube videos to learn the subjects. The homework questions arent even like the examples in class. He has quizzes on average every other day. But the worst part is how the tests/final have only like 5 questions so if you fail the tests, you fail.
His teaching style is great in general. Be prepared for Pop Quizzes since it pops a lot. Moreover, he is tough compared to other Math Professors at 2-year college level. I think he lectures like how those professors in University do. Thus, you have to work for it and earn the knowledge and sharpen your studying skills, to get ready for the future.
This was the most difficult A Ive ever earned but it was because of the tricky concepts and tough grading. He was very good at explaining the content and was always encouraging students to ask for help during his office hours. The tests had many curveballs that required a full understanding of the topic so prepare for hours of studying. Funny guy!
He cares about what he's teaching and providing a thorough lecture. He's by far the hardest professor I've had. His grading is tough. Despite focusing all my effort in this class (giving up time for my other classes) I gained so little. It's easy to blame professors for our problems but I shouldn't have to abandon my other classes to barely pass :/
Tests are too long to finish in allotted time. He will not answer any math questions unless it is something he has to cover in class, otherwise he will just say "That's Pre-cal (or Math 1A, trig., etc..), you should know that already" and will not answer your question even though it is part of the example he is showing.
If you would like to pass. This is not your class. If you work full time and do school this is not your class. Required a lot of focus on just this one class !!!
Dr. Le is a very funny guy and you will never be bored in his class. His lectures were always fascinating and I never went to lecture without laughing once. Beware of pop quizzes, but they're only 5 percent of your grade. You can expect to have 2 pop quizzes a week. Dr. Le also offers test corrections and this is something that is very helpful!
Professor Le is a very fair professor. He gave test corrections for all exams but the final, which really helped my grade! He is a very no-nonsense guy but he can still be funny and makes lecture interesting. You must be able to handle a lot of homework due weekly and be willing to participate in class, otherwise the course will be very difficult.
You'll have to teach yourself a lot because he goes super fast in lecture and isn't a great teacher. He offers really good test corrections though which is the only thing that helped me in class. He stands in front of his writing on the board constantly which I can't stand but he's nice and kind of funny. Watch prof. Leonard on YouTube for help.
Horrible professor, im convinced he doesnt care if people pass or not. After taking other math professors like Jordan and Podlesny who are amazing professors, Le is literally there just for the paycheck. I stopped going to class halfway through the semester because his lectures are so useless, and my grade improved because i was teaching myself.
Dr Le is someone who believes the class itself is a prereq. Pop quizzes, difficult tests, and horrible lectures. I almost blew my head off with my 8 units with Le. I can confidently say if you hate yourself take his class, I don't really care. You can figure it out for yourself while I frolic in the flowers because it's finally over.
Professor Le is fun in lecture, and cares a lot about the subject he teaches - however, his class is extremely difficult. Unless you're lucky enough to find his teaching style helpful, you will likely end up teaching yourself the material. His office hours are terrible as well. Avoid if you have literally anything else going on in your life.
Dr. Le is one of the funniest professors I have ever had. He has phenomenal lectures and is very passionate about what he does. He thrives off of students willingness to participate during lectures. He's super fair and his tests are a breeze as long as you've put in effort. He's a very kind soul and I will miss him!
Lots of work. If you are not good at math don't even take this class. Lots of homework and all tests are proctored with mic and recording.
After taking Lee's class I'd say the ratings are generally accurate; I think the good ratings must be from Lee himself. None of the lecture videos are his own, your camera is recorded during quizzes through proctorio, had us do a quiz the day back from spring break, group work on labs, is sometimes vague, he's not rude just not great.
It's math, hw heavy is implied. Lectures were understandable but did not repeat himself if you had a question on the hw where he showed a similar example the day before even if you understood it. Hard to keep up with the homework. Lectures averaged one chapter's section per day. Spoke fast and stood in front of his writing so taking notes was hard.
Will prepare you for 4-yr school. You need to do hw and read text book everyday and don't take his class with a lot of STEM courses(Take
I think everybody should have to take Le's Calc 2 class, not because it's enlightening, but because it teaches you that life is unfair. Other students get to take Podlesny or Blanton, but I get Professor Le. Where do I begin, he doesn't teach, he grades like the military and refuses to be of any support in communications. Do not take this class.
