While extremely passionate and knowledgeable, Dr Prousis was rigid and at times, completely unreasonable. His attendance policy can by summed up by his own statement, "If you die and it causes you to miss class, I need a note from the coroner." His grading is extremely subjective and there was way too much reading, 8 books for this class alone.

I took Russian Culture with Prof. Prousis about 9 years ago and it is one of those courses that stays with you. I don't remember it being extremely difficult but I do recall taking a lot of notes. Very interesting class.

He's a great teacher, no lie or doubt about it. But he is without mercy when it comes to grading and he's kind of a huge Jerk to his student. Zero Emptahy skills

Dr. Prousis is a tough teacher, but worth your time. SHow up to class, attendance is mandatory. Don't bring your phone or food. He has no problem calling you out if you're doing anything like that. He knows his subject backwards and forwards. Know how to write - if you aren't good at grammar, skip it.

Dr. Prousis is brilliant when it comes to this course. Expect to read A LOT, 1 book a week followed by a multiple questionshort essay quiz on it. The Mid term and final are cumulative, covering anything and everything covered previously. Skip class & don't read failure! Great feedback on quizzes however. StudyReadparticipate you will pass

Expect to read and write A LOT. If you're not a good writer already, your skills will improve if you take his feedback into account. Be sure to participate in class discussions. It's not a huge % of your grade, but he ended up giving a few people extra points for talking when no one else would. Just be involved and do your work and you'll do fine

I am very interested in the subject matter but was turned off by Prof. the first day. While reviewing the syllabus he scolded us and spoke to us like we were children. He then let us know exactly how much reading we would do, a book a week, and how he will grade very harshly. The next 16 weeks were horrible. Don't take, will lucky if you get a C-

Dr. Prouis is brilliant, but lectures are only that. He will not answer questions during class, so you can keep your hand up all class, but he won't call on you. You will read a book every two weeks and quiz on it. Provides helpful study guides for every test/quiz, but looks for extremely detailed answers. If you don't read, you will fail.

I love this class and this teacher. Yes he has a hard class and you HAVE to read the books to pass. But he is incredibly helpful and he has a passion for this. I often laughed in his class. In addition, he guides you to if you ask for it. He will tell you that you need to improve on the quizzes. Would recommend.

Normally when students say a lot of reading I can shake it off and its no issue. With Prousis though you will read and some of the readings will suck, I felt the historiography was very dated. Many readings were very reactionary and left me with a desire for more, yet in a class on Soviet history we read NO Lenin, NO Trotsky, NO Soviet leaders.

DR. PROUSIS IS AN EXCELLENT PROFESSOR WHO REALLY KNOWS HIS COURSE SUBJECT. HE IS STRICT WITH ATTENDANCE AND TARDINESS BUT ONLY BECAUSE THERE IS SO MUCH LEARNED IN ONE LECTURE. HE EXPLAINS ALL OF THE INFORMATION REALLY WELL AND PROVIDES OUTLINES OF THE LECTURE FOR EACH CLASS. HE CARES ABOUT HIS STUDENTS AND WANTS TO MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND.
