This guy is really cool
He is truly the best teacher I've had at COD. He's funny and has a lot of interesting information. Class was always a blast and the test weren’t hard, he even let our class re-take a test by taking it home! He’s the reason why I am going to transfer next year and get my 4 yr degree. If you are majoring in criminal justice and want to pursue a car
All I can say is he is the greatest!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome teacher....
One of the best teachers i have had here at COD. He is considerd a mentor to me. He has a very impressive background and has much to share with his classes for his past experinces in law enforcment. He is well liked by his students becuase his students enjoy his class and listening to him. I can honestly say that he wants his students to Succeed
By far the best teacher i have ever had. makes the class fun. i have him for a 3 hour class and he makes it go by fast. he cares about the students. also gets everyone involved to make learning the material fun
One of the best teachers i've ever had. Willing to help you on his own time, and everything he teaches is crystal clear, no problems understanding him.
Theo was an awesome teacher he is funny, but at the same time very informative as well he always takes time to help his students and offers a lot of extra credit as well as other stuff to do with Cj a must take for Criminal justice
Prof Darden is one of my favs at COD. He is very helpful and gets back to you in a timely fashion. Would recommend his internet classes to all. I can't wait to have a real class with him.
awesome teacher
Theo, Is one of the coolest teachers I have ever had at COD. He makes learning fun and tells so many stories and jokes about himself. Criminal Justice was awesome. I then took his Corrections class and that was a blast. We took a trip to Stateville prison and it was a good learning experience.Criminal investigation was great. He knows his stuff!!!!
Theo, Is one of the coolest teachers I have ever had at COD. He is always in a good mood. He never makes you feel stupid. He always offers assistance to students. He is very dedicated to his job and I cannot imagine him doing anything else. He is the only teacher at COD that I can trust and I am glad to have taken his criminal justice classes.
hilarious
I have taken two of Mr. Darden's classes and am soon going to take a third. He is an amazing teacher and he tells it like it is, i've never been bored...EVER! I think it's true to say that he has made me enjoy criminal justice very much, and to pursue more of it in the future! Take him, you will not regret it..oh and he's hillarious!
Prof Darden was amazing. I took a shrt 5 week summer class with him that was twice a week for 5 hours each day, but the day went by so fast. No h/w. No quizzes. Only 4 tests. He is super nice and NOT boring AT ALL!! If I were a crim justice major I would def take more of his classes, but unfortunatly I only needed this class for an elective.
I took the 5 week summer course also. We also had no homework or quizes. We just had 4 exams worth 100 points each. The class was easy and there was an extra credit oppurunity at the end. Pick this teacher!
Not only is Professor Darden an incredible teacher who is kind, intelligent, knowledgable, easy to relate to and understand, he also does an excellent impression of Mr. T.
I took this class over the summer. It involves a lot of writing assignments and an online discussion board (which hardly anyone participates in). I like Darden, he is quick to answer emails and any questions you may have. Definitely, one of my favorite teachers at COD.
Very good professor. Good, clear, interesting lectures on the chapters. professional attitude, and very knowledgeable about subject material. good on answering email, and out of class makeups. No homework, just read the textbook, to follow along with class. and 4 50 question tests. we also had 1-15 question chapter quizzes. would recommend.
Theo Darden knows his stuff, i would recommend socio: race and ethnics any day of the week. no quizzes, attendence is taken at the beginning of each class (time went by quickly.. no joke!)class participation is very important! group presentations on the chapters and a research paper. final is a take home essay question. he's a cool guy =]
take the race and ethinicity class it is the best.
AWESOME teacher..He is by far the best teacher I ever had. He makes class exciting. Mr. D really knows what hes talking about. Very understanding teacher he is not trying to trick us he gives us the information we will need to no...
I took CJ with this teacher. He was very easy! i took the class online!
Awesome teacher. starts great discussion you actually want to be a part of. All you have to do is study a little but test arnt hard
Great teacher. Fair.
I liked Mr. Darden a lot. the class was interesting and we covered a lot, but there was not a lot of homework and he grades very fair. lots of chances for extra credit and an overall fun class. also- he reminds me of cedric the entertainer
Awesome teacher, his Juvenile Delinquency class was great! I am going on the body farm trip this summer as well. Great professor that treats students like the adults they are, but expects them to act mature. He does not put up with immaturity, and will call you out in class. One of the best professors here at COD. He is committed to his field.
Seriously amazing professor, who gives a damn. His teaching style is very engaged, and the class is definitely a lot of fun. It's the highlight of my day. No, you will not find room for slacking, but you might gain a little more self-respect under his wing, and won't want to anyway...
This is one of the best professors/leaders I have encountered thus far. He exposes all sides of the criminal justice field, and speaks the truth - and can be hilarious in the process. If you can take a class with this guy, I definitely recommend it. Awesome lectures too, he has a way of inspiring.
Took some CJ Classes with him 3 years back. Im now in the Criminal Justi. field, and i needed to take some extra courses i IMMEDIATELY looked up what he was teaching so i could take that class! Hes a great guy, and he has experince to back up what he teaches!
AWESOME TEACHER!!! INTERESTING LECTURE...ONE OF THE BEST TEACHERS @ COD!!!
One of the greatest professors at COD. He exhibits a strong emphasis on class discussion and really encourages problem solving and thought. If you are a criminal justice major, you absolutely need to take one or more classes with this guy. Just be careful not to make any rediculous comments; Darden will hold you accountable for what you say!!!
Mr. Darden wants you to think he is the greatest professor of all time. He is always boasting about his achievements. In his own mind he does no wrong. He simply reminds students he has a PHD and numerous other accolades. Dozens of students emailed him about what the grade scale even means and he blamed them for it not being clear enough.
Its funny, if you're expecting to be treated like a child then dont take this class. Great teacher who knows ALOT and will teach you a lot, the man knows his stuff and will let you know that. Very helpful and if you read the texts and pay attention in class guaranteed a B and if you work hard you'll see a nice A.
Good, FAIR teacher. If you slack off and do not pay attention, you will fail the tests. Being an "easy grader" doesn't make a teacher a good teacher. That's why I like Theo, he TEACHES!! I actually learned a lot in his class and now have a much better understanding of CJ. This is a basic course, it's not rocket science! - Lazy people be warned!!
He is a great teacher and he is very helpful. And he is an image of a cuter Cedric "The Entertainer". Very Very Sexy!!! Awh yea sorry bout that gota little of track there yea great teacher too.
MY FIRST C AT COD.. This class is hard regardless of the teacher but he is funny. Although an extremely tough teacher/grader. NOT A SLACK OFF CLASS. DOES NOT TAKE ATTENDENCE. NEVER CAN USE NOTES FOR TESTS.
He is the best teacher I ever had. He talks about his police days and relates it to class to help us. Damn good teacher but at the same time intimidating. lol. I would recommend him for future classes. A little bit cocky but still cool.
He is the best teacher I have ever had!! His teaching style and his stories are amazing! I love the way that he relates to us as a class by sharing his own experiences. He is very knowledgeable and has so much information to share. I love that he shares life skills that will help us in the future. I will most definitely be taking another one of h
Simply stated: if you are serious about criminal justice, this is the professor you need to have. His expectations were established right off the bat and he was clear as to what the class entailed. Learned alot and got an A. Fun guy, but don't cross him. I would definitely not want to be on his bad side.
One of the best professors I've had! He is extremely intelligent and knows the important stuff about this subject! He's there to give you facts not ramble on about his opinion! I learned a lot, but his tests are not easy. Very specific and you have to student. A couple papers are assigned. LOVED this class!
Provides wonderful insight on the course & his level of sincerity & compassion for the field is second to none. His commitment to his students' success is immeasurable...
BEST TEACHER EVER! TAKE HIM! DO THE WORK AND YOU WILL GET AN A. HE CONNECTS WITH EACH AND EVERY ONE OF HIS STUDENTS IN ORDER TO MAKE SURE THEY DO WELL!
Easily one of the best teachers at COD. He knows what he's doing and is very informative, due to his many years in Law Enforcement. If you do the work, pay attention in class, and go every day, it's an easy A. I've had him for CrimJ 1100 and 2410. I'm looking forward to taking another one of his classes.
i took a lecture so attendance was no mandatory. boring class, all we did was take notes and no homework, just 4 tests which is not helpful if you arent a test taker!! he will help if u ask him, but does not do well with going over test material, just lots of reading for everyone in the textbook! every chapter u must read!
I took Professor Darden's course online and it was very manageable. There was one assignment due each week, which was plenty of time to complete it. He grades quickly and is an easy grader. Gives lots of time to take the tests which is very nice. Great teacher, highly recommend, will definitely take his online courses again!
Computer test, lectures and prefer reading, if you want a good grade. Great Instrutor - easy going and want everyone to advance. Full-Time staff know what they are doing. Funny and you learn.
I had police operations as well as intro to criminal justice with him. He is so easy as long as you read the textbook. He is also funny. I would strongly recommend him.
One of the best instructors ever! He is very knowledgable and teaches everything in a crystal clear way! I recommend this professor, he will go out of his way if you need extra help. He's funny and never a dull moment in this class
one of the best teachers at COD
one of best teachers at cod. very motivational person and will give motivational speeches. really wants students to do well. all he does is talk and tell stories in class. very entertaining and easy A class you will learn alot tho
Prof. Darden is a GREAT Teacher. She is very fair, knows the subject matter very well. Just attend class take good notes and do all the homework assignments and you will do very well on the tests. Put some effort into this class and your should receive an A. I would take any class he teaches.
Professor Darden was wonderful to learn from, and his comments after online journal entries and essays was very helpful. The class conversations (on BB) are very interesting as well. He is very understanding of RL issues and of those with LD. I would recommend this class to anyone interested in corrections as starting point!
BEST PROFESSOR AT COD. he is truly passionate about criminal justice and his lectures are motivational. there is no homework. as long as you show up to class, pay attention and read the chapters you'll be fine. I highly recommend him for any CJ class.
The best professor I have ever taken.
Professor Darden is an awesome prof. He is passionate about what he teaches. He loves to see the light go off In his students heads. Has life experience in what he teaches. Very motivational
I've taken Darden for quite a few classes now. I even went on a trip with him to London over the summer. He's an amazing professor, and I try to take every class I can with him. He loves assigning papers to hear what you think and why rather than give "multiple guess" tests. He's not a harsh grader, just put in the effort and you will love him.
LOVED HIM! This class is about my major though, so of course. Gave lots of E.C.(on a whim, usually) assignments and questions on tests. Keeps it interesting and real. Does tend to get a little soap-boxypreachy occasionally. Funny and really nice guy. Class is all lectures, with some student participation. TAKE NOTES (from book and class)!
I took his class with high expectations but was disappointed. Most of our lectures were of him ranting about what is wrong in the world which is very upsetting if you don't agree with him politically. our class average on tests were a 62% and each time our average got worse he lectured us about how we were bad students. loves the sound of his voice
Prof. Darden cares about his students. He holds you accountable for your own learning and encourages you to think for yourself. He does not allow politics in the classroom and wants students to form their own opinions. If you want to learn something, take his class! The class is easy if you show up and participate. His lectures are never boring .
I took this professor for an online class and found that it was easy to navigate. he gives constant feedback on assignments and the assignments are quite interesting. You get a week to complete discussion boards and up to 4-6 weeks to complete online exams with plenty of time. This is a great class to take online.
i took this guy for introduction to criminal justice and it was a great class. The test are easy if you take notes and read the chapter. He likes to know what you think. Classes go fast with his lectures which are never boring.
Great sense of humor. Mr Darden knows how to make you laugh even when you disagree with him. His take on political current events may not always line up with you but still a very respectable gentleman. Must not screw up on tests because tests essentially dictate your grade by almost 100%. Definitely worth taking his classes if at all possible.
Mr. Darden does not allow politics in the classroom. He states that up front. What he does allow is for the facts to come through crystal clear and encourages his students to make up their minds based on facts. If you want an education to make a difference take his class! He is also hilarious and makes learning interesting and fun.
Theo is one of those teachers that will challenge you to be the best student you can be. I strongly recommend him for any student. Extremely well-read, and very clear with course material, if you are willing to put in the extra time to read you'll have no problem getting an A in his class.
This man is by far one of the most insightful individuals I have ever encountered. Mr. Darden doesn't teach, he helps you become the teacher we all are within. I wouldn't have any reason not to suggest him to any student, regardless of major, at cod. He will really drop some wisdom which is all you could ask for with a teacher. Get ready to learn!
Don't come to his class with a closed mind, you won't learn anything. You need to be able to accept the facts. Most classes are based on the teachers opinion, not this one. His entire class is based on facts, like them or not. His class should be a mandatory requirement for graduation. He is by far the best professor I have ever had.
Mr. Darden was an amazing online teacher. If you do the work, you will be rewarded. He has great assignments that are all thought provoking. Some students in my class did not put as much effort therefore their grades showed their effort. If you do the discussion boards, read, and put effort an A+ is very possible. He is my favorite teacher at COD!
Prof Darden is one of the best CJ instructors in COD. His lectures are clear and he expects the class to be involved. Fair but tough grader so do your reading as well as assignments! He's pretty funny so although his class was on a serious topic he made the class feel at ease. Learned a lot, he teaches you all you need to know and more. Great Prof!
I saw a few hate posts. He definitely has an opinion and there were times that we had differing opinions, but he never talked down to me or told me I was wrong and when I put work into those assignments I always got 100s even if he disagreed. Don't listen to the haters. They didn't put in the work. The class is clear and easy.
Amazing teacher. Follows the syllabus to the T, no surprise exams or tests, you do need your book to pass this class. This is the first online class i absolutely loved. Would deff take him again for any other criminal justice classes. responds back in a timely manner to emails. You must participate in the group discussions or you wont pass.
Throughout this class he has been very unclear about due dates and class requirements. Everything requires mass analysis and that was all we did in class. He does not work with his class to find answers he constantly mocks answers students give he doesn't find right. He also shows no mercy on due dates even with death in the family.
Took this professor online and the class is set up where he gives you a short prompt on what to write about with either a video to watch or article to read. After looking at the prompt you are asked to comment your thoughts and do some research of the topic and then respond to 2 classmates. 1 quiz a week but very easy. 1 or 2 simple papers. Easy A
As I was reading the post of past students I noticed someone made a post from my 2150 class. This person is so off base. This class makes you think, Darden tells you that he cannot argue with your points, but he makes sure you can back them up. He gives you 4-7 days to complete all assignments and the midterm was a take home. You'll enjoy the class
good class, good/goof professor, challenging, but helps build you as a student and as a person.
I have never learned more in a class than I did from this professor. He made me really think deeply about topics in the criminal justice field. Will definitely take more of his classes.
He doesn't just teach to the test, he actually teaches to help you learn. He occasionally goes on tangents but they are always either related to the class or to current social/political events.
Great professor. You must read the textbook to pass though
Professor Darden was amazing, if you literally just show up to class, listen to his lecture, sit back and enjoy his jokes, then you will love this class. Darden will always tell you ahead of time when you will be having a quiz. That way you will have time to study for it. Quizzes and test are pretty easy for the most part.
I took this class just for interest and needed credit hours. within the first week of taking his class, I had no regrets. This is one of the best professors/teachers I've had. You don't even realize you are learning the material. I 100% recommend taking him if you can or just make it happen.
Darden is like the best teacher i've had at COD. he listens, cares, teaches, and gives you so much more than you'd think you would walk away with. you have easy quizes if you read and papers are enjoyable. hes respectful and understanding. just take the mans class, you wont regret it for sure.
I took the multicultural class and it was life changing. I know two people dropped because they were closed minded and it showed clearly. Prof. Darden really allows students a voice in the classroom and your opinions and thoughts matter. I would definitely take any course he teaches. He really cares about his students.
This guy is ridiculously funny in his lectures. He uses humor to teach you about the criminal justice system. Don't get me wrong, the topics are serious and he cares a lot. He even helped me with my classes for next semester and I am not a criminal justice major. He wants every student to succeed. Take him and you will never be bored.
I took the introduction to criminal justice class with this professor because my friend recommended him. I can just say this was an incredible experience. I never knew how much criminal justice affected our lives. I would recommend every student take this class regardless of your major. You won't regret it and I am telling all of my friends!
Prof. Darden is an interesting person. He really cares about students and learning. Although he takes attendance it will not affect you unless you miss more than 4 or 5 classes every 8 weeks. I got sick during the semester and he really helped me out. He also provides a few ways to get extra points although he says don't ask for extra credit.
Great professor. Any student who takes this course will know what college is supposed to be. Darden allows you to become the teacher by respecting your thoughts but encouraging you to always support them with facts. Students who didn't like the class probably shouldn't be in college. Take the class and you will not regret it. Best professor ever!
Hands down, best college professor Ive ever had. 10/10 would recommend
he is a really great professor, heavy on hw but one of the most knowledgeable, and super awesome and understanding
My only favorite professor I took this semester. I loved his lectures and he was such a sweetheart! He truly cares about his students and makes his class fun to learn. His tests are really based on the chapters you read and the cases you learn about so make sure you pay attention, but he's such a good teacher. I truly respect him. Take his class!
The best professor in criminal justice. He treats you like a college student and not like you are in H.S. Other professors may give you the answers to tests but he wants you to understand things for yourself. He has lot of experience in the field too. He is very funny but pay attention. His lectures are really interesting. He helps students a lot.
Real college course! If you came to learn about criminal justice he is the one to learn it from. Has a vast amount of historical knowledge as well as practical experience. He lets the student be a student and think for themselves.
Professor Darden is hands down my favorite professor of all time. He gives genuine, heartfelt lectures. You can tell he is very passionate about what he does, and he treats his students like respectable adults instead of kids. He wants every student to succeed, but he has high standards. If you make an effort, you'll pass. 10/10, best professor.
This professor just wasnt helpful at all, and then in the end blames things on you. Due dates were explained poorly. Even in the syllabus there was like 3 different set of due dates. Even if you feel like you did well on a discussion. You still did something wrong. Avoid this professor.
I am a first-timer on this site and was shocked to see the first post because this person clearly did not have the same professor. His syllabus was clear and I knew exactly what was due from day one. There was plenty of time for assignments and the materials were college level and challenging. I wish I would have taken his in-class course!
This is a real professor. He knows whats he's talking about and challenges you to think for yourself. I have never had a professor to use the book, articles, videos, and in-class group assignments. He keeps you interested in the course and you actually can have your own opinion but he'll make you back it up with facts. Take this class!
This was an amazing class. I walked in thinking it was going to be another class about racism and it turned to be the most incredible college and life experience I ever had. This course should be mandatory for everyone. There is so much we don't know about ourselves and history. Take this class! Your life will never be the same! No busy work!
He is incredibly wise and studious. He wants his students to learn as much as possible and is a big believer in participation and discussion. This class really pushed me and I recommend reading the textbook cover to cover, especially if this is your major. His lectures are engaging. His questions can get long and easy to get lost in.
Professor Darden was very unbiased in his teachings and lectures and didn't force his opinions on controversial topics. He is very understanding and very fair when it comes to his grading and makes his expectations clear. As long as you show up and take good notes along with skimming the textbook, you'll be fine.
I really liked and enjoyed Professor Darden. He had amazing lectures and really opened my mind up to see things differently in a good way. He definitely makes you earn your grade and I highly recommend taking Professor Darden for any Criminal Justice courses.
Professor Darden is a great guy. Super caring and very knowledgeable in the Criminal Justice field. Attendance is pretty mandatory, he gives you 2 free absence days, the rest results in a deduction of points. Lecture's are easy to follow along with, but you do need the book. Overall great teacher and I will be taking more of his classes.
I haven't finished this course but I wanted to rate him already. He is by far my favorite professor that I've had over the course of my two years at COD. He really cares about his students and wants them to actually learn the material in a meaningful way. I would highly recommend this course and professor to anyone who is considering it.
He's a respected professor, but once he finds something to be upset about, he can't let it go. He spends an entire lecture discussing how disappointed he is, if his students don't answer his questions correctly during class. He calls his students bad adults. The textbook he uses is great, so that's a plus! But his ratings here are off.
He asked a question no one could answer. He stated he was disappointed and asked the class to read the chapter again. I was really got mad because I felt he was arrogant. The next class he brings in a video about what was the purpose of education. I then realized how much he cared and just would not allow us to be lazy. It was motivating!
Be prepared to read the textbook. While this professor does make you work for the grade in his class, which I respect he was not my type of professor. While being nice and all he is not with the technology needed to teach an online class in 2020. He is test heavy along with a pretty significant midterm and final. Overall try to get a different prof
This professor is excellent. This is the first time I have taken him. There is a lot of reading and class interaction. If you are someone who hates reading, don't take this class. You will learn a lot about yourself but don't expect fun and games like other courses you might take. He respects and supports students. I am glad I took this class!
This course provided so much information. I want to work in criminal justice and many of the things happening today can be challenging. Because of his professional and academic background, he really provides the context for what is happening and why. Excellent professor and I will take another course with him again.
Prof. Darden was wonderful. Very inspirational and made a lasting impact on my educational career. He makes you earn your grade, so if you put in the effort youll do well.
I took this class to see what criminal justice was about. There are so many things I didn't know! There were a few short 1-2 page assignments that we had three weeks to complete and the exams were all online open notes and book. The lectures are where the real information takes place. He knows a lot and worked in the field too! Take this class!
I thought corrections was going to be about locking people up. Instead, I found there are several jobs you can get and just how important corrections are to communities. This professor made me feel like a college student and not someone just going to school. I look forward to taking him again. The lectures are incredible with a lot of detail.
I really like this class. The lectures are really interesting and he has so much knowledge. He explains it in a way that is not over your head. He is also flexible and allowed me to make up a couple of missed assignments. You just have to be honest with him as he is all about student success.
When I say it is the hardest class I have ever taken, it is not because of the work, it is because of the content. This class is really about you and a history lesson that you have never had. Be prepared to learn things you never knew and a lot of aha moments. This is the best class I have ever taken!
Darden is a very intelligent teacher one of the best. I would definetly retake this class or sign up for more if I could. You will do a lot of reading and writing, but nothing thats difficult. Prepare for great class discussions. One must for this class is to have an open mind!
VCM class. You will read 2 books in this class, write short papers on documentaries. Start papers early. Expects participation. His lectures are very in-depth and detailed. Incorporates his stories. The topics covered in this class are essential for everyone. This is not just a class for crimj people. This was my favorite class I've ever taken.
Bruh please listen to the negative reviews. He literally wrote almost all the positive reviews to make it seem like hes actually a 4.8 professor, hes not. He doesnt respect your opinion at all, dont bother to voice it.
Great professor! Clearly labeled assignments. He is a tough grader but only for those who do not try.
Professor Darden is very inspiring and will push you to think outside the box. I like his class because you can take what you learn and apply it in the real world and many things discussed are relevant to current issues.
Professor Darden is very knowledgeable about his subject but overall is very lecture-heavy in his courses. If you don't participate when he asks questions in class he will call out students and express his disappointment in the class. He will also go on long lectures that take up the whole class so beware.
My third class with him. One of my favorites I have ever taken in college. Incredibly fascinating. He shared lots of personal stories from his experience, which he hasn't really done in previous classes I have taken. He challenges students to think for themselves. Whenever you see he is teaching a class, take it. Don't hesitate. You wont regret it.
Lots of writing in the course but very doable.
Theodore Darden is amazing! 10/10 professor
Very understanding makes you feel like you matter no matter what he has a passion and he connects to everyone
Professor Darden is charismatic, he makes lectures fun- however he has a huge ego, he often brags about his pay and tells his students that most of us will never get to his level. He only remembered our names the final week of the semester despite daily participation. The books he gives and the class material are great- him not so much.
Professor Darden was great at first, however later on into the course as other students would fail to turn in assignments he would take full classes to lecture about being responsible & turning work in. Which resulted in several days of learning being taken away from multiple students who weren't apart of that.
If you don't participate when he asks questions in class he will call you out. He goes on long rants that aren't relevant to the lecture that takes up the whole class. Wasn't clear on what he wanted for the assignments and is a tough grader. It was a interesting class though.
Love him, easy grader, gives feedback, no group work. Lectures are very interesting -he does go on rants sometimes but they are helpful at times so I don't mind. Loves to help you, set me up with an internship and gave me great guidance and tips on my degree and schedule. All my classes I plan to take have him as my professor and I am very happy:)
Prof. Darden's classes are filled with information. Sometimes he uses lectures to connect real life to what we are learning. I like his classes because he allows students to think for themselves but challenges us to do the research. Don't take his class if you don't like being held accountable. He gives you a lot of time to turn in assignments.
This course is part history, criminal justice, sociology, and political science. I thought it was just going to be about race but it is so much more than that. This is my first class with this professor but he seems to care about students. I am not a criminal justice major but this course was required by DePaul. I recommend this class to anyone.
I enjoyed the class and learned a lot that I did not know. There is some reading and lectures are mandatory. Not too many assignments but he certainly seems to care about students. There are no multiple choice test and just 4 short writing assignments that you get plenty of time to do. I am not a criminal justice major but I would take him again.
Great professor ! Gives clear feedback on assignments and gives you plenty of time to complete discussion boards . Enjoyed his class and would take another class with him in the future .
In my entire life I have NEVER had a professor who would spend weeks of zoom classes lecturing a few students for not doing their work, and taking away from my education when I am paying to be here. I have never had a class where me putting my all in was not recognized and occasionally told if I'm not putting in more effort I'm wasting his time
Truly do not understand how his rating is so high. He makes a course layout that he does not even follow. Most of the lectures are spent on wasted topics that do not correlate with the final exam. I promise you that you do not want to take his class. I wish I can go more in depth on how bad of a professor he really is. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
Professor Darden is one of the most amazing professor that is out there, going into his class you HAVE to care about what he is teaching, because you never know that in the future his lecture will inspire you in the future without even you knowing. Have fun!
Professor Darden has a passion for Criminal Justice that is unmatchable. CRIMJ2150 was a class that I want to take again! It is like a class for life. Prepare to do some deep deep thinking. Read your textbook, and you'll be fine!
Prof. Darden was great! I loved his lectures and the way he taught the class. He was understanding when I went to him about a hard time I was having and made sure that he helped me in any way he could. He is passionate about what he does, you will learn a lot with him as your prof. I loved this class, it changed my way of thinking.
10/10 take him. He's passionate about the subject. Gives you a paper but the whole sem to do. Video worksheets are easy to do. Just do your work, participate here and there and you'll be fine.
Professor Darden has been the best professor I've had. He is very understanding, cares about his students and loves what he does. He wants you to participate. Attend class and do your homework. He does not give unreasonable loads of work and you have most of the semester to write the textbook analysis.PARTICIPATE and do your HOMEWORK!!!
Professor Darden is one of the best professors I've ever taken, he cares a lot about his students and is passionate about what he is teaching. Professor Darden was available whenever I needed help. I would 100% recommend you take any class he is teaching! Professor Darden is truly inspirational and will leave you with a lasting impression!
He is a very knowledgeable man. You can tell he is very passionate about what he is teaching. He gave great feedback to every single one of my discussion posts. Definitely would take another class he teaches.
I absolutely love Prof. Darden. He's a really good prof and he wants the best for his students and really cares deeply. His lectures are very clear and grades good, as long as you follow directions in the class you will pass. Attendance matters and participation, really good discussions and gives his students opportunities and chances! Take him!
Professor Darden is passionate and engaging, making lectures worth attending. While he has a specific teaching style, engaging with it pays off. unstuck study and the free textbook were helpful study tools alongside class participation.
Darden is by far the best professor I have ever had. He is very knowledgeable and fun to listen too. The class will change your perspective in so many ways relating to the criminal justice system. The workload is not hard at all, you get a lot of time to do assignments. there is a textbook to read and a book and a few papers. TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
This class was great and very informative. It is very lecture heavy and class discussions are the main focus. there is a textbook to read and a few papers, not bad at all. One downside is that there aren't many assignments, so therefore if you do bad on one it can risk your whole grade. He needs to put more assignments in the class.
He was the best professor i had taken out of all my classes. He has amazing lectures and his lectures were very informative and helpful for the students that take his intro to crim class.
Inspirational professor and gives good feedback. He keeps lectures engaging. Only critique I could possibly give is better slides (for when we do use them!).
This class was amazing. Darden's courses are always filled with so much interesting info. There is barley any work to do. Most of this class is participation, which is key, because the classes are built around student led discussions. If your shy and don't want to talk, I recommend not taking his course. Great class!! 100/100 rating
If I had to give a quick but honest review, Professor Darden is someone who keeps his lectures interesting. He rarely gives homework, so make sure to give your best whenever he assigns one! So far, I have only taken one test for my class, which is the midterm. Beware the fact that he doesn't give any study guides or practice for this!
Best professor of my academic journey. If you want to excel in criminal justice, you need Darden. His class is eye-opening and challenging, fostering critical thinking and analysis. He genuinely values students, taking the time to listen, guide, and mentor them to succeed professionally.
I loved taking this class! The book the professor chose was great, and the material and class activities were engaging and enlightening. I definitely recommend this class to others, there's no way to regret it!
His lectures are real interesting, he barely gives out homework so make sure you do well on the few assignments and participate!! The majority of points you get can be participation points.
This was an amazing class, and I would absolutely take it again. Professor Darden is an exceptional instructor whose lectures are engaging, insightful, and genuinely inspiring. He provides thoughtful, constructive feedback on assignments and is clearly invested in his students' learning and success.
