cool teacher, though biased in certain areas
Not an easy A, very good for conversations in class, know notes!!!!!!!
Don't take his class to learn; not worth it.
Book=worthless. Take all notes possible and study for hours.
Notes=Test. Lots of pointless notes, but tests are very straight forward.
likes to ramble about absolutely nothing. study for tests
Complete Memorization of Notes. Must know them word for word.
very intelligent
If u go to class and take good notes its cake
A rediculous amount of work and grading that is not appreciative of that
Very unclear, Very unorganized, Not recomended.
I wonder how he was hired.
ClassBuy $70 program, decieded he want us to use the full version in comp. lab
absolutely horrible, i wouldnt wish this professor on anyone
the class seemed interesting but he is useless and does not seem to know much

Notes=Test, but notes are lists of crap. Unorganized/confusing, class is boring.
ClassTurnedMeOffToThePub.Policy Conc...Thankfully he's on sabbatical next fall..

Worst teacher I have had at UD. Totally unorganized and confusing
Teddy D. gets a bad rep. hes not that horrible
worst ever
memorize study guide, get an A
waste of $$$$
The class is so easy. Tests right from notes
this guy should be teaching 3rd grade. He teaches the course like everyone is ignorant, when only he is. Don't take this guy at all costs...it's a data analysis course...i wonder why all the data is about race and black resentment towards whites
The man makes no sense and cannot say the word approach. HORRIBLE CLASS, don't take it there's only 4 grades for the whole semester and he values his opinion above all else.
Do not take this class with him.
this idiot was the worst teacher I have ever had in my ENTIRE life. He can't spell, speak let alone teach. He should have been fired a long time ago.
HE IS THE WORST TEACHER EVER, SO UNCLEAR AND CANNOT TEACH, HE SHOULD BE FIRED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE....NEVER TAKE HIM!!!!!
awful professor...lectures are confusing, pointless
avoid taking this professor's courses at all costs. He is horrible. If you do take the course you'll be required to memorize what is a library? and what is science? . The funny thing is he is so picky it's quite hard to get an A. AVOID AT AL
awful teacher - doesnt care about what he does. class was useless - bias grader.
I'm white and I took two classes with him, and got an A in both. And he grades anonymously. So he's not quite the **** that everyone thinks he is. If you're white and you got a bad grade in his class, maybe it is because you didn't study.
Worst Teacher ever, very picky and bias on his grading, esp. if your white. The students he teachers are smarter then him. He taught wrong formulas, and made stuff up, and still gave out bad grades.
davis rocks. all course material is easy to understand if you take notes, or better yet, attend class. no suprises on exams,as they are all straight from the notes. i took 300 and 220 w/ davis, got As in both. ps-im white. bias? come on guys, weak exc

Hdoes grade anonymously. He makes it clear that he's a liberal, but in the field of poly sci we need to learn to accept all views! he sent out lots of "fyi" emails which were interesting and informative. he tells jokes, makes class enjoyable.
Very interesting class. Must take good notes since tests come straight from them. Great class if you study. No bias in grading
Professor Davis is a wonderful professor. I enjoyed his lectures. I am taking this class as part of my history discpline for elementary education. He allowed me to broaden my horzions in the political world. His review sheets are a great help. Gr8 teacher
if you are good at remembering random words to fill in blanks with during the test without any real idea what they mean, go for it....the class was a waste of time, learned nothing and can see why everyone wants him fired...he only knows his notes

Funny guy, class waste of time, just get the notes
Yeah, class is a waste of time - he'll usually just e-mail the notes to you anyway - all we did was debate endlessly. Tests: a synch if you memorize the notes. Take this class: my average was 101% by the end of the semester and I missed like, 5 classes.
good stuff
What an pompous ****. I loved going to class though, because it was a great debate every day.
dont listen to anyone who rates davis well - he sucks. bias grader, useless knowledge - uses the same material for every course he teaches. the man is useless, awful teacher. funny thing, i got a good grade in his class too.
Good teacher, very organized power point slides and a funny guy. He makde the class fun and understandable. I particularly enjoyed debating because I like to argue. I'M RICH ****!!!
Dr. Davis is an enjoyable professor to listen to. He is a funny guy and he lets students join the debates. His study guides are helpful and if you study the info off of them, this course should be an easy A.
Reverse ****, misinformed, close-minded, arrogant, clear favoritism in class - basically this man makes me ill and was the catalyst in my dropping a poli sci major.
I don't understand how this man retains his faculty position. Don't listen to anyone who likes this man. NEVER EVER take 300 with him. He teaches you incorrect information. and not once takes you in the computer lab. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
funny dude, good guy, but can't teach this class and expects people to do well in it. makes failing enjoyable tho at least
DO NOT take 300 with this man. He wastes class time and then grades the papers SO hard, despite the fact we had no clue how to write a data analysis paper AND he didn't give us enough information. Don't let his jokes fool you, he is not an easygoing guy
TELLS you he has favorites. Class was insanely confusing, made us use a program and write papers saying we learn through mistakes rather then him teaching us first. Debates about racial issues then drove me crazy. He'll help you after class but avoid davi
Good professor, had favorites but it didn't matter he graded fairly. His study guides were key memorize those along with the slides and you'll get an A on the tests. Debates a lot and about everything that was very boring and I never talked but i got an A
eek... debates alot in class about stuff that has nothing to do with lecture...spent a lot of time debating about iraq even though it was a politics and poverty class. ..confusing, too high expectations...AVOID
people the class is fasinating, debates are lively, and so long aas you copy the 20 minutes of lecture notes and you study for 3 tests, you'll do well. quit blaming your laziness on him.
He's an engaging and unique individual. The material is interesting and class is truly enjoyable. Tests are all about memorization. If you take notes and study a little you'll do well, if not you'll fail miserably.
a lot of people don't like this professor but i honestly thought he was a good guy. he wasn't really serious and even though a lot of what we talk about in class has nothing to do with the test.. as long as you memorize the notes you should be fine.
Horrible subject matter, even worse professor. Reciting words off power point slides is his style. That and debating racial matters in Public Administration class go figure. Aviod if you can
Fun, unique, and nice person but not the best teacher.Class was actually fun because we debated and talked about issues irrelevant to the topic, but in the long run, that was not helpful. At first, exams seem very hard but all you really have to do is memorize the notes and your grades will improve.
AWFUL TEACHER...WORST I'VE HAD AT THE UNIVERSITY. YOU WILL LEARN NOTHING. AVOID.
SOS.. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR for any reason.. class turns into a tangent debate and class notes are unhelpful. Attendence is mandatory and the tests are a mind f*ck.
Don't plan on actually learning anything about public policy. You memorize lists of pointless notes for the test, you'll probably bomb the first exams but since they're cumulative grades improve as you memorize the lists of info over and over. Debates in class may be entertaining but pointless.
DO NOT take this class. I think he's an a**, he'll hate you if you don't share his exact opinions (which all suck), notes aren't clear and the tests have tons of essays. Oh, and a huge paper that's hard too. In general, I think he sucks as a teacher and this class is bad too. Avoid it.
The majority of the class was lectures and note-taking from his power point. The rest of the class was all open discussion about lecture topics. He likes everyone to share at least one idea during the course of the semester and if you remain quiet, he will eventually call you out. Tests are easy.
Made data analysis ridiculously rudimentary; he reduced it to high school level. Most class discussion was way off topic, but he is funny and class was generally entertaining. Go to office hours for help and it's an easy A.
Fairly easy class. Tests are straight out of lecture notes. Rambles alot, but makes class enjoyable. Has a good sense of humor and is understanding about things.
Very funny. Is a professor but combines that with modern hip-hop culture. Hard subject material. makes himself avliable for office hours and teaches other classes.
DO NOT TAKE!This is a required course, and it is way to hard/confusing. Constantly makes errors. Tests are impossible, study guide useless.Only POSC class i had under a B+ in. Awesome guy tho, take for classes he likes, but NOT 300. Wish I had been warned, now I must repeat it. STRICT attendance...
A lot of information. Goes off topic a lot, but thats the best part of class. Takes attendance and deducts points for not coming to class. Interesting professor.
Do NOT TAKE DAVIS. He is an awful lecturer, his notes make no sense, he doesnt even know the material. Mandatory attendance. I hear in other classes hes cool, but for 300 take another professor because this guy is awful
I happen to know that out of 30 students, about 1/3 were A's and A-'s. Anyone who rates this class difficult is saying more about themselves than the class. Professor Davis can be confusing at times. However, if you come to class, take notes, and actually try to understand the material, you'll find it to be an easy (and funny) class.
He is a very nice teacher who takes his time to explain things thoroughly. If you give him a chance he is very bright.
I just sat back and listened to others talk the entire class. It bored me to sleep every class, but thanks to his helpful study guides I never did not recieve an A.
You will not learn a damn thing about public policy, but there are always some good discussions. Very willing to help. A big jovial southerner and a very nice guy with a good sense of humor and a great attitude. I question his effort and how much he actually knows about the subject, but with this class it doesn't matter. MEMORIZE EVERYTHING.
Basically the biggest waste of time ever. Davis displays a third grader's command of the English language, both written and spoken. He also claims to 'not know anything about' facts students bring up in class that contradict his points.
Dr. Davis is not friendly or helpful for his classes. I was lost and confused on what was going on in his class, luckily, I found another student who helped me out.
great class, intersting and captivating, study guides pretty much guarantee you a B, take this class
Sometimes he's scary and sometimes he's amusing. If you speak up in class, he will shoot down anything you say but if you're lucky enough to be in a class with 200 you don't have to worry too much. It's A LOT of information, but you can do well if you memorize the lists he gives you.
To get a good grade in this class, memorize definitions/lists he puts on study guide. This class is interesting at times, but Davis is very biased and rude if you disagree with him. Says he takes attendence, but only does so once every two weeks. Says he will have office hours, but isn't there when you go to his office. Easy memorization class.
An amusing cat, but he's a scatterbrain at best: demonstrates weak grammar, can hardly pronounce simple words. If he likes you, he'll help you, if he doesn't, he'll screw you. You won't learn concepts or even facts, but words. Better have a good memory, because you'll need to memorize pages of notes in precise detail. Such are his exams.
awful. He was just awful. He barely teaches. just puts powerpoints up. Very little factual basis, mostly opinions. Avoid this teacher.

Easiest class ever! Everything you need for the test is on the powerpoints he prepares! The lectures are boring and he gets long winded but just copy the notes! Also hes a funny guy and will cut you some slack when it comes to final grades
The worst class I've ever taken. This man is rude and biased. I would not reccommend anyone to take any of his classes if you can help it. If he doesn't agree with your point of view you are basically out of luck. Be ready to do a ton of studying for all of his tests. The only good thing about the class was the debates and even those were one sided
He's a complete jerk
great teacher! very interesting class! if you like discussing take this class you'll love it and learn a lot! take notes, follow the study guide and you'll get at least a B
barf. He's a joke. Can't teach, and he doesn't try to. He cracks jokes constantly that aren't funny. Avoid if you want to learn - otherwise take his class if you want to waste your parent's money.
Worst teacher ever. Has horrible attendance policy which WILL drag your grade down. I am a graduating senior taking his class for a BS credit and he FAILED me because of absences. Gives you study guides but nothing on them are actually on exam. Very unhelpful prof. DONT TAKE.
Not a smart man at all and doesn't care at all about teaching you anything. You will learn nothing at all and have to memorize pages and pages of notes verbatim for the senselessly diffiuclt tests. He's cool as hell if you get to know him though.
I took davis last spring, and he was great. He was so nice, and helpful. yeah he has mandatory attendance, but he also doesn't lecture from a book, so you need to be in class anyway. He is always available during office hours, and if you put out effort, he notices. He appreciates effort, and if you let him know you try, you wont fail.
Dr. Davis is awesome. If you go to class, and memorize the notes the class is cake. And if you go to his office hours he'll really help you out. Discussions can take up most of the class but they are interesting. The people who complain are spoiled babies. Teddy D is definately the man
Very easy class! Memorize the powerpoints and you will be guarnteed an A on his exams. There are three exams multiple choice and fill ins with a word bank! Take this class...
Dr. Davis seems to love nothing more than to see his students debate the various questions he brings up in class. The class itself is easy, if you can memorize the lecture notes, you'll do fine. He's a really nice guy who cares about his students, and wants you to stop and think about the important issues.
Davis is a great guy. The class is pretty interesting. Good discussions. Copy every powerpoint slide from lecture and a week before the exam, start memorizing every slide. Sounds hard, but its not at all. Guaranteed A. Hint: Do very well(i.e. 98-100%) on the first two tests and you'll be in for a treat. Take my word for it. LOVED THIS CLASS
if memorization and regurgitation are your cup of tea, then take davis. otherwise, don't expect to learn too much in this joke of a class. the TA was pretty much useless too. an easy A if you spend hours and days memorizing.
participate as much as you can, he likes that and gives extra points on the final if you've participated a lot during the semester. he gives study guides (you need the book for terms) and take notes in class. MEMORIZE the entire study guide and you will do fine. the class is easy, davis is semi-likeable (he WANTS you to suck up)
terrible!! tons of notes that you need to MEMORIZE word for word before exams. useless if you contact him via email. also, he doesnt say so, but takes points away for attendance. i was sick and missed 4 classes (which i cud prove)n he took 20 points of my grade! i had gotten a b in the class but because of the absences, i got a d! DONT take him!!!!
Dr. Davis is very liberal. The first day of class, I was blown away by what he said. This class is very thought provoking. This became one of my favorite classes. Professor is great. The class is easy and you learn a lot.
Very good professor who is very involved in the subject matter. Fun and interesting class to take as an elective class. Work hard through semester and get high grade and you may not have to take the final exam!
Good class, but if you dont suck up to him, but you do have an A in the class he will still not give you advantange like he did for other people. So pretty much suck up to him so you dont have to worry about the final. but either way study hard....memorize all his notes and you will do fine
wouldnt call it an easy class, have to literally memorize all of notes. the class is very interesting though and you can speak your mind whenever you like. good class, but like what most people have said, hes not a very smart guy and tests are straight from the notes, but hes a funny man and id take him again just because class was so amusing.
Very funny, personable, get to know him and he's cool, go to class, nice guy, will work with you
Professor Davis is the worse EVER! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE...if you must take POSC150, PLEASE take it with another professor. He does NOT know how to teach and you have to memorize everything 100%. His tests are extremely hard and he gives you a word bank for the test that is useless cuz you only use like 3 words off of it at most...THIS CLASS SUCKS!!
do not do this to yourself. terrible professor. some how he got tenure and reminds you that he can do what he wants because of it. tests are ridiculous. study guides are useless. doesn't follow his own criteria for grading. you will not do well in this course if you do not share his views. his lectures are boring. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!
This teacher is ridiculous. For the final he expected us to take a 125 question test in 1 hour and 15 minutes. Thats ridiculous. All his tests are cumulative, and require A LOT of studying, he gives no extra credit, and is not worth your time or money. Take a different teacher for this intro course because he is a terrible person.
Easy if you get the notes. If you have a friend in the class, you can switch off going to classes and still get all notes and pass. Tests are easy if you memorize his study guides. Follow the study guide and you'll get at least a B+
Ok, first he did give the entire 2 hours for the final if you needed it. It WAS 120 questions, but over half the class was done within an hour. AND on the first 2 exams there were 2 extra credit questions. You do need to pretty much memorize the notes, but they're not that hard. He makes class interesting, even if you don't agree with his opinions.
I shouldve read his ratings before I took his class cause I could've done much better. Basically memorize his notes a couple days before the exam and make sure to know the study guide and you probly get a B.
A pretty average professor overall. He speaks extremely quietly and if you are hard of hearing... it doesn't improve. His tests are the main focus of the class, they are fill in the blank which are relatively easy due to the word bank he gives you. Make notecards of all his slides and you will easily ace this class.
Don't take this class unless you like memorizing tons of notes and slides. I didn't learn a thing from his useless explanations and notes and found myself having to start studying a week before the test just to get a decent grade because of all the material. Avoid if you think this will be an easy A.
2 tests (memorize your notes, skim the texts), an interview paper (7-9 pages), a research paper/text review (15-25 pages), a final, and mandatory attendance (he allows 4 absences, after that he starts deducting points). I pulled out an A- this semester, but I know many of my classmates didn't get above a B.
I'm a Political Science major and thought this class was fairly easy. 2 tests, one optional exam, a final, and mandatory attendance. Go to class, take notes, and just grasp the concept he tries to teach. Not the easiest professor to understand as many students didn't get above a B.
he is hilarious, and he loves discussing interesting topics. Test are verbatim what he teaches on the note. so as long as you go to class easy A.
funny professor, listen up for his occasional one liners about prostitutes or drugs. test questions sometimes unclear, but I still learned from him and I would def. take him again.
AVOID. Class is complete memorization of stupid lists that he deems important to Political Science. He reads word for word off of PowerPoints and treats this class like its more than an introductory course. 3 tests with an optional one near the end of the semester. Tests are fill-in and multiple choice with random questions. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
below average professor, attendance mandatory. if you go to class, take notes and study you will do well but this is not an easy a. take someone else if you can
One of my favorite teacher. I learned so much in his class and it wasn't too hard. Tests are based on the lectures, so the textbook was nearly unnecessary. Its easy to get an A-, but not an A
Hes not a bad teacher at all, hes actually pretty funny. Just take notes in class and memorize them for the tests and youll be fine. He's very considerate at office hours too
If you are not a history person (Like my self, I am an engineering major) do not take him. He good but I think you really have to be about that social science life.
I dont know why people are giving him bad reviews? He is very easy to understand. You must attend class cuz his tests are about 80% lecture notes. He gives study guides before the test. As long as you know everything on study guide you will be fine. If you attend class and put in a little work reviewing study guide you will be fine. I enjoyed it
While I did well in the class, I did not like him as a professor. The first exam, more than 2/3rds got Cs and below (about 19% getting Fs). He refused to take any responsibility. He moves slowly and at one point we were two and a half weeks behind. The textbook is a must. Attendance is mandatory - don't take if you're a student athlete. He's rude.
This class was terrible. Do whatever you can to not take it. The professor is nice but not a good teacher. I give him credit for trying but a lot of the material that he tests you on is not covered in class. Also the only grades are exams.
Avoid this man at all costs. I am a straight A student, and received a C in his class. Test questions are extremely ambiguous, which is frustrating. He should not have a PhD, simply due to the fact that he has the grammar level of a 5th grader. One of the worst teachers I have ever had. Yikes!
Useless. The absolute worst professor I've ever had in my life. If anyone can beat him then it'll be quite the accomplishment. His lectures make no sense. The reading is awful. His grading is so up in the air and you never get the tests back. DONT'T TAKE HIS CLASS!
Wanted to find a nice, easy, and interesting class to serve as a break for my other difficult and required classes-- man I chose wrong. Always have been a fan of black american history but attending these lectures were the equivalent of pulling teeth. So unorganized; I remember the final was one hundred short answer questions. Dear god stay away.
He's not very clear on what he expects from you. Exams are ridiculously hard even with a study guide. One of the hardest 100-level classes i've ever taken. Only class keeping me from dean's list. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
He is hilarious and tries to connect to his students but he enjoys debating a lot more than actual lecture. But if you have an inkling of how to study and the how to ask for help if you need it, you will be fine
Cool guy but wouldn't recommend. You have to do A LOT of work to get a B+ He often goes off into long opinionated discussions but takes up too much class time and rushes through notes. If you want to have an actual grasp you'll have to read the text book on your own. Exams are ALL ABOUT LECTURE NOTES and a few key terms from the text
HARDEST 100 LEVEL COURSE HE EXPECTS WAY TOO MUCH FOR EACH EXAM; THEY ARE ALL CUMULATIVE, CONSIST OF EVERY KIND OF QUESTION.. SHORT ANSWER, FILL IN THE BLANK (NO WORD BANK) , MULTIPLE CHOICE, TRUE FALSE QUESTIONS SOMETIMES DONT EVEN MAKE SENSE ALL MEMORIZATION I DONT EVEN THINK HE WOULD PASS HIS OWN EXAMS FINAL IS THE SAME FORMAT
He goes on long rants that don't haven anything to do with anything on the exams. Exams are absolutely impossible unless you memorize the textbook. In that case you MIGHT get a C. I stress MIGHT.
I don't understand why Professor Davis has such low ratings. I took him last spring and got an A relatively easily. He offers extra credit, and is very helpful at office hours. You have to study, but isn't that to be expected? He's nice, funny, and I genuinely enjoyed going to class.
Professor Davis was my first Political Science professor, and he remains my favorite. Class is mandatory, however the lectures are mostly either basic topics or discussion. The discussions are well done and he encourages students to offer their own opinions and debate as long as you are respectful. He doesnt assign any papers and exams are easy.
DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASS WITH THIS MAN... Dr. Davis is a extremely personable man. I respect him very much as a man, he tries very hard to allow students to voice opinions and attempts to be fair. However, he is VERY disorganized and unclear with everything he does, unless you meet with him and get to know him you will probably get a bad grade.
He's a good guy but gets off track during lectures easily talking about things that don't pertain much to the lesson. Discussion heavy; make sure you're taking notes b/c he doesn't post them online. Tests are hard, mostly fill in the blank/short answer but he gives you a study guide & a partial word bank. Can get a good grade if you study hard.
Professor Davis is enjoyable but is unclear about almost everything relating to his class. Most of the class is used to discuss things that aren't course material and he gets off track often. When he says the exam is a matching word bank format what he means is the word bank will have little relevance and most answers will have to be recalled.
It's actually a really easy course but what you learn in class has little do with the exam except for the short answer questions which there are 3-4 and you pick 2. I had the course during the election year so it was more current events and watching debates. As long as you study definitions and the structure of the government you'll get at least B.
I respect professor Davis because I think he gives good insight about life, but he really just isnt a good professor. He gets off topic a lot during lectures and is very unclear about whats expected for exams, which are the only things youre graded on.
Professor Davis has interesting things to say but often goes off topic so it felt like we had to rush through the lectures by the end of the semester. Exams are harder than they should be but still fair, and there are opportunities to gain bonus points. Also he has a detailed study guide for each exam. Go to class because slides are not on canvas.
Not really a fan of him as a professor, can get distracted. He didn't really pique my interest in public policy. Make sure you understand his attendance policy! Exams are super easy to study for, but a good amount of studying is still required to do well.
Professor Davis came off as a cool and funny guy, yet turned out to be quite the opposite. He deducted an absurd amount of points from my overall grade for missing very few classes and his study guides for the exams were beyond useless. The exams were unbelievably challenging as they were often 60 open ended style questions. Cool guy, bad professor
He is one of my worst teachers as a freshman at UD. During his recorded lessons, he repeats himself and rambles on without ever defining any terms or giving concrete information. He uses things like "who get what, when, where.." etc to describe terms you never heard of before. One of the most boring teachers ever. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASSES.
The only good thing about this class is it was an easy A, so I thought. Going into the final I had a 97 in the class with attendance already calculated. Somehow the final grade I received was a B. When I emailed him asking him what grade I got on the final he never responded. I would have had to get a 50 on the final to wind up with a B.
Prof. Davis is a really nice guy but it's hard to recommend him. He is an awful lecturer and is very inaccessible outside of class. Do not count on him to respond to your emails. Structurally, this class is so unorganized and it's hard to know what he wants from you. If you have the option to take anyone else, do it!
Professor Davis is a good guy but a horrible teacher. His test questions are so vague that sometimes you have no clue what he is referring to. He also takes down the recorded lectures after we have an exam on them but then expects us to know all the materials for the final exam without the chance to review old lectures. I DO NOT recommend him.
Had him for online and he was the best! My advice is take good noteshe has live lectures (where he teaches specific info found only on the final) and posts recorded lectures (that only stay up temporarily). The study guides are useful and tests are open notes. Just pay attention, take good notes, and go to live lectures and you'll be fine.
Prof Davis was extremely disorganized - he sent out zoom links that didn't work and attendance was mandatory so just getting to class was difficult. He doesn't respond to emails, or when he does it's after a week and one-sentence responses. He never recorded lectures, gave unhelpful study guides, and made the 3 exams artificially difficult.
NEVER TAKE ANY COURSE TAUGHT BY THIS PROFESSOR. Extremely unorganized and unclear with expectations. Had disagreements with students and then didn't apologize when he was wrong. Barely ever gets to the point in class making it hard to understand what we're supposed to be learning. Not a writing course but had 6 papers all 4 pages in length or more.
Tests that he provides have grammar mistakes in it. I will never take his class and recommend you do the same. Lectures are very boring and its impossible to concentrate. His speech is very confusing because he doesnt finish his sentences half of the time. For the exam you have 75 minutes for 60 questions. Very very disappointed.
He is a very nice extremely personal man, but as a professor was very confusing, tests were not worded correctly, and questions were often thrown from left field a lot. Not a very easy class.
This professor only assigned us 3 exams the entire year, did not give us any other assignments to be able to work up our grade, and is so confusing when speaking in the lecture he goes off topic and doesn't teach us what we actually need to know for the exam. A lot of grammar issues and overall not a good teacher.
Very confusing on what to expect for the exam . Goes off topic for 30 minutes and then rushes in notes to take. Lectures are boring and only graded on 3 exams.
The only work you had to do outside of class was study and he basically tells you what things he deems as important during the lectures. He tries to be controversial on purpose to engage the class and while it may be a little frustrating,I liked how it motivated the class to discuss. He is a nice dude and it is clear that he cares about the subject
Professor Davis is definitely knowledgeable about the subject at hand but is seemingly past his prime. I don't want to sound disrespectful, but that's how it felt with the rambled lectures, disorganization with technology, and unclear grading standards. The class itself felt like you should be able to test out of it with a B in high school civics.
The negative reviews from other people are all accurate, but I will add a little...classes were filled with him rambling or entertaining random/controversial questions posed by other students for the majority of class. He also just wasn't a nice guy... called me out in front of my older peers for something I couldn't control quite a few times.
He is a very nice man do not get me wrong. His intentions are extremely well and is not mean in the slightest. But as a professor, he is unclear, goes on tangents, and makes no sense on tests. His study guides were so vague and when talking would make analogies that made no sense. He is a great guy, but it was tough seeing it the way it is.
Professor Davis was a great professor! The class was based off of three exams, however he had some extra credit opportunities if you came to office hours or had perfect attendance at the end of the course. His study guides were very accurate. Very nice guy, just make sure you come to class because he doesn't post his slides on canvas.
Prof. Davis is one of the best professors I've had thus far. He really wants you to succeed and provides extra credit opportunities to do so. As long as you attend lecture and ask questions, you'll do fine. Office hours helped me a lot.
He's wildly rude and just rambles the whole class. his tests are in theory not too difficult, but the wording of the questions makes it nearly impossible to do well - class averages are around 60%. the only grades are from the three big exams that everyone fails. His attendance policy is absurd and only allows one absence - excused or not. retire!
Easily my worst professor at UD so far. Only getting a 2/5 because he's genuinely a nice guy. The grading criteria is very unclear, he does not respond to emails quickly, and the majority of lectures end up turning into political rants/tangents. Attendance policy is absurd. NO EXCUSED ABSENCES. 3 or more absences no matter the reason = penalty.
Grades are pretty much determined by the exams. The first is open note, the midterm was regular, and the final was online. Usually the content reflects the notes down to the word, but be sure to keep up with the notes as he doesn't post them on Canvas. He cancels class or does Zoom often, so be sure to check your email before class.
Professor Davis is a mixed bag - he's knowledgeable but often goes on tangents, and his grading can be unclear. However, attending lectures, using unstuck study for study prep, and visiting office hours can help you succeed.
He's a great guy and means well but he sets his class up awful. Your ONLY grades are 3 exams and they'e difficult. I studied for 3 weeks prior to the first exam and got a 55 (whole class didn't perform well). The wording on the exams makes it almost impossible to understand. Attendance is mandatory and to him there is no excused absences.
Please avoid him at all costs. Your grade depends on three exams, and his phrasing of the questions ON the exams is horrific. I'm a public policy major. This class is "Intro to Public Policy". The concepts are easy enough. His tests, though? IMPOSSIBLE. Everyone in the class failed the first exam. Do not take him.
