He's great
He is quite a character. Sometimes has corny jokes, but an all-around nice guy.
Why are sitting here rating me? Log off and work. Lift that barg, tote that bale, watch those Yankees. TGF.
He is a really nice guy, but he is all over the place and is unclear on his explanations. Also what he goes over in class does not help with the homework. You basically have to teach yourself. Not worth taking if you don't wanna teach urself
what other professor would come on line and rate himself..i mean really!!
Great guy. Great teacher. Keep asking and he'll keep answering. Work hard and you should do well.
you will have to teach yourself because the class materials do not help you do the homework at all. good luck
He's a really nice guy, very entertaining, and it wasnt too hard as long as you do the work and go to the class.
Haha, he really did rate himself here... he's great... tells a lot of stories and still gets some math done in the process... he may assign a lot of homework... but that really doesn't matter cause i don't think he's ever checked one...
all i can say is that i did not learn a thing in his class. He tried to be funny but was never. He is smart i'll give him that, but he really should go back to school and learn to teach. Some people just arent cut out for that job, go back to research
Nice guy but very cheezy. Thinking back i dont think I've every had a math teacher that wasnt corny so I guess its excusable. He'll answer anything but it forces you to come up with the questions, easy enough grades doesnt care about arithmatic..GO YANKS!
he is such a riot. go yankees. he knows so much. does go off on tangents, but it breaks up the monotony. made me stick with math longer than i'd ever thought i would. maybe some of the harder teachers would better prep for grad school/other courses.
I have had Faticoni for about four or five semesters now and I am planning to take him again next semester. He is absolutely wonderful. Yes he has cheesy jokes but it just makes his class that much more enjoyable. He's very fair - work = A.
Not as nice during office hours
Best teacher EVER!!! If your good in Math, you will kick ass! If not, just go to class and he explains things so well you will be good in math. I didn't get an A on any tests but I got an A in the class. He's also funny which makes class not so bad.
Very, very cool guy. Take him if you can!
At the beginning he was very helpful but at the end he just stop helping. when it comes to office hours don't go because he really isn't going to help you so save yourself some time. Don't bother to go to the help room either because they teach different.
If you go to class and do the work you'll get an A. For our class (Fall 02) he didn't even include the final on the final grade (they were posted before we took the test!). I am NOT a math person, and I loved him. P.S. If you're a frosh, do NOT take Ca
If you care to learn and not waste you money on pointless classes, DO NOT take him. HATED him, not funny, insensitive to student needs...if you're not good in math, don't take him, he'll make you feel like a fool and is NOT helpful during office hours!
if you are not good at math or are average, do not take a faticoni course. I'm average and could've done better with a diff prof. He does not help at all and is very unclear. No outside required work cept exams. Exams=very hard, need to study A LOT
He doesn't care about your name, often seems as if he's teaching off the top of his head. Office hrs very unhelpful
easy, easy class. That can not be said enough. All you have to do is do the hw. He though is a bad teacher (if he really is a teacher). He is very unhelpful, unclear and rude to students but it doesnt matter since the class is so easy.
He was annoying at times, but also funny and eccentric. He is a good grader
If you've taken this math before, you will do ok. Otherwise, you won't learn much. This man is a publishing professor, not a teacher. Not too concerned with class. Ridiculous policies. Won't learn.
Great Teacher.. i have to disagree with what most of the other people said. I am not good at math and i got an A in the class. You need to pay attention and you need to study. Do what he says and u'll be fine. I got an A with one perfect score out of 3.
not funny, not a good teacher, has favorites, and cares more about the yankees then his students, just for that, go sox, there are better teachers, this is an easy class but there is no gaurantee that you will do well on your final grade
RUDE....he shared other peoples' grades with the class. would you want the class you got a 9% on your last calc final?!?!? finals ranged from a 9-85 so you make what you want of that! hes boring and always talks about the stupid yankees! d
Absolutely the worst prof I've had@Fordham. Doesn't care at all about the students, extremely unclear & often at times when he couldn't figure out a problem he dismissed the class b/c he'd get annoyed. Test are ridiculously hard.It was nothing like HScalc
if you are decent at calc this is not a hard class. he does not take attendance and everything hard on his tests (theorems) you can memorize from notes. he teaches and explains things well. lots of corny jokes
thought it was going to be a joke at the beginning, turned out the joke was on me. really nice guy, doesnt care at all. very smart in math, but i'm not good in math and he was not willing to help me. he picks on students in class, and seems to give grades on a very low curve. its a soso class, so...
probably one of the easiest classes i've ever taken... you spend weeks upon weeks on the same subject when most can grasp it after 2 or 3 days... pop quizzes suck, but they don't count for much in the long run. no attendance policy, classes run short, nice guy, easy class but don't expect to learn
Not a good teacher, often makes mistakes, never clearly explains anything. Makes you laugh though, sometimes, but not recommended.
this guy's not too bad. he goes over stuff for weeks even tho most of the class gets it in 2 days. watch it with the sarcasm and jokes tho cuz i made the mistake of a couple of wise cracks and he has been picking on me ever since, quizzes are easy and don't do the hmwk it's pointless, doesn't help
He was possible the MOST rudest, inconsiderate teacher I have ever had. He is incredibly sarcastic towards any questions you have-so don't even bother. If you'd like to learn more about the Yankees/Red Sox rivalry...take this class. Not and easy grader. Save yourself the time and anger.

This guy can't teach - lots of bad jokes, and grades very poorly. Dont take him
Take it TWO TESTS that he goes over for at least a month soo pay attention and yu will do well.. DONT DO THE HOMEWORK i didnt do 1 math homework and i got an A takee em
I was doing well(A- midsemester)until the final which counts for 40% of your total grade and is worth 150(why,I don't know)points.i should have switched to another class when I had the chance...I went from an A- average in october to a final grade of C. Why? Because he counts the final too fn much
After taking his class, I now hate math. Can't teach for squat and is very unhelpful. If you want to torture yourself, please take him.
ugh...not a good class if math is not your "thing". Faticoni, though funny at times, does not care about his students, throws curveballs on his (2) tests, and makes the final count for way too much. Class was easy and I understood everything, but tests are killer and basically determine your grade
If you ask him to clarify a problem, he just restates what he already said and provides no help. His sens of humor is aweful, although he thinks its funny. He is not willing to help outside the classroom, and tells you to see the tutors who teach the problems differently then him = wrong answers.
not a bad professor, just make sure you do the problems his way. his jokes are funny, but watch out if youre named "dan", you will get tortured for it.
Dr. Faticoni is a not a bad teacher. He tells the worst jokes in the entire world and he tells them the entire class which is annoying as hell, but he does care about the mathematics that he teaches and his students when you have questions. I recommend over the othe math teachers here cuz they suck.
Jokes were funny but were repeated often. Make sure you do the homework and you will be able to pass the tests.......I learned the hard way.
Should be fired.
Oh boy.
what a disaster this man is.
If you are a person who tends to need extra help in math DO NOT TAKE HIM!! He cares more about math itself than teaching. Overall not a terrible teacher but not the best either.
When asked for help, this professor is happy not to help.
This man is the cancer of mathematics.
This man is the worst teacher I've had. Also, no calculators allowed.
this guy came straight from hell
class not hard but oh my god. that is all i have to say. stupid guy, cant do simple math in his head and yells at u if u dont correct him. crazy nut. definitly not fordham material.
Not that hard, class is more interesting than most of my others. Don't need to do the homeworks, just study before the tests. Everything on the tests is covered in class.
THE WORST EDUCATOR I HAVE COME ACROSS IN MY 13 YEARS OF SCHOOL. Words cannot describe this terrible teacher.. the pits. Avoid him like the plauge.
horrible, take him only if u want to fail.
dont take him hes a crazy fool. if u dont get something, dont let him know.
very clear and tells you exactly what he expects no surprises So since you know exactly what to expect then its really up to you as to which of 2 grades you'll get, if you make sure to study really hard, levitate, and get extra help you'll be gauranteed a "D", if ur lazy and dont do all that studying, then expect an "F" ***A's and B's DO NOT EXIST
A's and B's do exist, but so do D's and F's because he grades on a standard A through F bell curve, making the class competitive. Success just comes through knowing the concepts covered in class since there aren't any surprises. If you have to do homework to grasp them, fine; if not, don't sweat it because they don't count. He's a pretty funny guy
Not a bad guy. i guess I could be working harder in his class. If youre prone to slacking off its not gonna be a fun time. other than that aside form the fact that he is insane, and his stories usual go nowhere, he is amusing for a math prof. Not a bad guy, could be worse, just understand the concepts and be able to do the work. Oh, and make

Very rude. Does not care about students, even the ones who do well and ask questions. STAY AWAY if you are not the best math student, or can't stand teachers who hate what they are doing.
I don't get what everyone is saying about him. He is EASY! Only 2 tests some quizzes and a final. The tests are the SAME EXACT QUESTIONS from the quizzies. The final is the two tests put together plus ITS OPEN BOOK! WHAT MORE DO U WANT! Hes kind of funny, no attendance or hw and he lets u leave early. I got an A so yes he does give A's.
not helpful, doesn't even check his email unless it's his office hours. just explains how to do something and gives examples. class always ends early, but like i said, very unhelpful. just comes in, teaches, and leaves. if you can, stay away.
Not a good teacher at all. Does'nt answer emails unless he feels like it and does not say much in them. Just goes over problems in class and if you dont do them a hsi way they are wrong. Quizzes are not bad, but the 3 tests are awful. Very hard questions that he does not do in class. Only does easy problems like them. Avoid if you can.

Meh. It was great that he let us off early all the time but he only did it because he's tenured and can afford to not care about his students. He trys to be pleasant in class but he's never enthusiastic. He's not a bad teacher. Hate his subject but not him!
do his pop quizzes count? i didnt even know what aws coming
If you want to learn and/or keep your GPA above ground, and keep unneeded stress out of your life, do not take him. He is disrespectful to all (even to the people who bother to ask questions after being heckled by him.) You will prob learn v. little or nothing. Very petty and bitter person.
Dr. Faticoni is a great professor. Most ppl think he is unclear and doesn't care for the students. If you don't understand smthg ask in class and he will clarify it. His tests are predictable and so are the quizzes. There are daily quizzes, 2 test and a final. Highly recommended. Will take him as many times as possible.
Took him for applied calc, i definitely agree with everything the person below me said. He's changed from the fall semester, he now gives about 2 quizzes a week but they are easy and just off the homework and problems done in class. not great, but not bad.
Took Linear Algebra with him. He is very clear and tells you exactly what you need to know and what he wants you to do for the problems. 2 quizzes a week 10%, 2 tests, 50%, and the final 40%. Hw is not all that important, he didnt even have the same book as the class. Pay attention and do well on the tests/final, and you're set.
Will take as many times as possible. Great professor!
Great Teacher!! Took him for the summer and got an A in the class with minimal effort. Teaches clearly and helps whenever he can, but ask in class because it is impossible to get him outside of class. Tests were a little difficult, but def not impossible. Curves the final grade, so why not take him?!
Took him for calc 2 and it was very worth it. I took the class as a Navy ROTC requirement and he completely understood my situation. He goes over EVERY thing which is going to be on the test. Great teacher, i wish I had gotten a bit higher then a c+ but thats pretty much because I suck at math. If I hadnt taken the class with him iwould have failed
Professor Faticoni it the best! He makes everything so clear because he goes through everything step by step. The homework is very fair, not too heavy, but the more you do the better it is for your grade. He's very clear about what's on the test. He's also very funny ;)
Weird personality, likes to pick on students. Wears the exact same clothes every single day. he requires that you answer the questions the way HE taught them because "he's right and every other professor before him is wrong." He's a huge smart alec jerk/nerd who has no respect for his students. Would never take his class again.
If you are a math person there is NO way you can't get an A. If you are not a math person he wont respect you and will assume you're stupid and wont help you to even pass. I failed. Im not a math person.
i didnt know someone could make up math until i took this class. He does not care about his students, he doesn't believe in calculators and ignores you when you try to meet him for office hours. Also, he always looks so glum. Th e midterm was a joke, but the final was impossible and he has a crazy curve
This is by far the easiest math class I've ever taken. If you know anything about calculus, take this class. He gives one problem quizes and assigns homework that he doesn't check. I've opened my text book once all semester. just follow the way he does calc, and you've got an easy A
does not let you use other methods if you previously took calc, even if the methods give you the same answer. hates when people ask questions in his class. doesnt explain things properly.
Terrible. Awful. Miserable. The worst class I have ever taken. Avoid it if at all possible.
He doesn't like to meet outside of the classroom. If you go to him for help, he will make jokes and put in no effort to help at all. When a student asks him to clarify or explain something he usually says either, "that's how it has been done in history, so it is tradition" or "I'm the professor, so I have the advantage of being right."
worst professor i've ever had. not only unhelpful but goes out of his way to be a jerk. miserable old man wish i never met this guy let alone take his class
The class isn't too hard. Just stay on top of your notes and keep up with the homework, though it isn't required. As far as personality goes, he's a jerk. But I'm a jerk so I found his sarcasm and his dismissiveness pretty funny.
Umm, I would recommend not taking him especially if you are not very strong in math. I took him for applied calculus. The material wasn't very hard but if I ever misunderstood I always went to someone else. He hates being asked questions in class and wants everything done a specific way. Overall, he's just not very pleasant.
if you intend to end the semester with a D or below, take him. he's unapproachable, doesn't answer his e-mails, can't teach, and has a painful sense of humor. avoid him... it's for your own good.
A math major's professor. Excellent for anyone who's serious about math, and considering grad school in math or a related field; but he doesn't dumb down the class very much to accomodate students who aren't math pros.
He is a smart man, but he doesn't care about his students AT ALL. You have to follow exactly what he teaches in the class or you get no credit even you have the right answer. Makes mistakes sometimes in the class and does not admit. Avoid him. Choosing him is my biggest mistake in this semester though the content in class is easy.
If there is any possible way to avoid this man please do it. Even if all classes are filled and his isn't try to plead to the math department for another class. IF you were placed in this class first semester freshman year...God help you. Avoid at ALL costs, his grading is crazy, doesn't give any attention to students, and 50% of his class drops.
Faticoni is an extremey difficult prof, to say the least. However, his subject of Combinatorics (using a textbook he wrote) was so fascinating that it became one of my favorite subjects of the semester. He doesn't show up for office hours, but the subject he teaches is incredibly interesting and useful for everyday life. Not a typical math class.
I had the worst learning experience in this class. He avoids questions, teaches with his back to his students, will make at least one mistake per class, and then he will leave the room. If you are an incoming freshman, he is on your schedule, and you are not the best at math. Drop him as soon as possible. You will not regret it.
If you see this guy on your schedule, get rid of him and do not think twice. Some will have mixed reviews about him, but don't fall victim to his facade of corny jokes. He requires that you work out of a textbook but it is useless. Condescending and unhelpful. A believer of no-partial credit.
Avoid at all costs. Class was for 50 minutes, 3x a week, but we were lucky if he stayed more than 20 mins. When we do problems on the board, he just says the answers while writing (with no explanation) and his body covers most of the writing anyway. Regardless if you understand the material or not, if its not done his way, its wrong.
Try not to piss him off, he gets pissed off really easily. If he thinks you're trying and somewhat interested in the material, it'll help you out considerably. I took Calc 1, there were quizzes probably every other class but they're not that hard. He wants you to do problems EXACTLY as he does them. Just play his game and you can get a good grade.
Alarmingly disinterested, abrasively condescending, and unapproachable. More than half the class dropped within the first month. Stay away.
I love this teacher!
save yourself is all i have to say. unless you want to be clueless and never know what finite really is. He leaves in the middle of solving problems that he doesnt understand. Just save yourself please for the good of your mathematical knowledge. As he said himself he would "rather die then teach us another math problem"
Faticoni is possibly the worst professor you could have. I am a good Math student, and did very well on the first test. However, the second test and the final were just carbon copies of the review sheet, and if you did not memorize the answers to the review questions to the t, you did not get any credit for that problem. He frankly doesn't care.
AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS!! I'm serious, I saw all of the horrible reviews over the summer but thought that people were just bitter over a bad grade or something. He is just a horrible professor; doesn't talk to the class, doesn't explain what he's writing on the board, and it just overall rude. Please, do not take him for the sake of your sanity.
AVOID HIM. Save your GPA. He's careless and awful at teaching.
Prof. Faticoni is a well-meaning professor. Though a bit scatterbrained and vague in his explanations, he carries about him a genuineness that is hard to overlook when judging his character. He can be too absorbed in what he is doing to make sure students are keeping up, but it is only because his love for mathematics is so great he can't help it.
