Good teacher, knows the material. Tests are on material, papers are fun
catholic phil-teacher w/ conservative views, difficult to talk to if explaining ex. a pro abortion or pro- homosexuality idea to... REALLY EASY CLASS
Great teacher, he actually makes you think, he will work with you, he is aware of how each student is learning and where you might be coming from in your learning process, really cares about what he's teaching, highly intelligent person, wealth of knowledge.
very nice; first few classes difficult but it got easier and easier.
Great Class! Dr. Faulers relates the material to each student, their careers and majors. This a difficult task but he pulls it off and you'll go away with a few tools to make your life better. Thought it would be a boring class but was one of the best I've ever taken! If you haven't taken Philosophy yet, this is the instructor to take!
Dr. Faulders does a tremendous job in presenting the material and making itinteresting. I also appreciate him taking the time to make sure we all understood by calling on us and verbally testing our understanding (whether we liked it or not).
thinks he is always right
Dr. Faulders is a good teacher, since he has a great sense of humor, gives fair tests, admits his mistakes, and really cares for his students. Take any of his classes and you won't be sorry.
You'll love him if you agree with him, but if you're a non-conservative freethinker such as myself, he'll piss you off. He encourages online dating, relates every lecture to God and cracks cheesy jokes that you should laugh at to make him like you. The class itself seems challenging at first, but over time, you'll realize it's a ridiculous joke.
Dr. Faulders is a wonderful teacher and a great person all around. If you have an open mind you will enjoy his class. He's funny, opinionated and highly intelligent. great class. He'll make you think...
DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS!!!! ALL OF THESE REVIEWS ARE BULLSH!T. I HAVE AN OPEN MIND AND I SHOULD HAVE JUST LISTENED TO MY GUT AND DROPPED IT THE FIRST DAY.
Great instructor. He's cheerful, polite, funny and really cares about his students, even the shiftless ones. Yes, he can be very opinionated, but he wont hold it against you if you disagree. Work is thick and takes plenty of study, but its not unreasonable. He generally sticks to what is talked about in class for tests. I recommend Dr. Faulders.
There are 3 total tests including final (Summer), HWs everyday based on the text book (typing recommended), 2 papers with formats provided, and attendance always counts. The class taught me to slow down and think or analyze things logically. He starts talk to you as if you have been a good friend of him, so don't be intimidated. I enjoyed the class
The class was really easy. Dr. Faulders was a very easy grader (as long as you typed the homework you get an A). The papers are really easy and he even has some posted on the website to use as templates. I would highly recommend this class. My only complaint- Dr. Faulders does not watch (or own) a TV and he only sees one movie a year...
good teacher. explains well etc etc. just take him
Dr. Faulders stepped in when Dr. Fontaine became ill. He is a superior teacher. He returned our papers to us the next day; very prompt and disciplined. He learns names and really takes an interest in the students' futures. I learned a lot of things I can use in daily life.
he took over for our summer class and he was pretty good. Hes clear on his lectures and what he expects and it a fairly easy grader too. If you need to take philosophy take him ~ much better than most phil teachers
OMG EASIEST CLASS IN THE MF_in world. HA, I WAS SO CLUELESS WHEN IT CAME TO LOGIC AND PHILOSOPHY but he seriously related all his concepts to the REAL WORLD --- & hes actually one of the reasons why I liked going to Moorpark CC! Take his class, I'm guaranteed you'll love it. I was absent 8 times & managed to make up all my work.
he's an amazing teacher and anyone who needs to take this class should with out a doubt take him. as long as you show up to class there really no way you couldnt pass. theres not really any homework besides answer questions that are easy. he's just a great guy :)
Best teacher iv had. If you are gonna take philosophy take him. Funny guy and a genius. Just go to class and you will pass.
Dr. Faulders was a great teacher. Although the class wasn't what I expected it to be, he made it interesting for me. As long as you show up, participate, and turn in your homework, you'll have no problems passing the class. He is very friendly. Overall, I highly reccomend him.
Dude's a genius. He is so smart and literally changed my life with his teaching. If you want a teacher who should be teaching at University level, take him. He's funny, nice, and a great teacher.
Unfortunately, he's a closed minded teacher. He says some ridiculous things and uses random sources "knew this" He's very good at teaching HIS material. But unfortunately his conservative beliefs are overwhelming, he may pick everyones grades on the first day. I did fine, you will too... he's great if your sucker and believe everything you hear
really awesome teacher. he's funny and laid back. he really appreciates good attendance. just go to class, read when you're asked to, and you'll do fine. totally recommend this teacher.
The first signs of a horrible teacher: teacher is unprepared, has the class read out loud, no lesson plan, he then tells the class he has to pull an all nighter just to get the subjective final together w/o preparation. Also makes snide remarks about disabled when they are not there to defend themselves. Welcome to Dr. Faulders Ethics class! CAPITO
I suggest reading the negative reviews before deciding to take/stay in his class. They are warning you with good reason. Basically, his personal views get in the way of his teaching ability. If you share similar views, then, of course, you will enjoy his class.
just dont take any of his classes horrible teacher and i dont get how he can teaches in college for many years
Dr. Faulders is a cool dude who likes to surf and chat with the students. He does not wear jeans - ever. Most importantly, he is a really wonderful professor and really preps you for university level stuff by making you read Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics. Do yourself a favor and take his ethics class. You'll be smarter and better prepped for life.
Only take his class if you attend Berkeley and are a philosophy major. If not, lie. Never ask him for help or talk about your personal life. Dont miss class because you will be the butt of his jokes for a large portion of the class. Always agree with him and laugh at cheesy jokes. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!! Only take him if you can do these things
Dr.Faulders is a great professor with a very clear teaching objective. His lessons are very interesting and encourage class participation so the class is not entirely lecture driven. He is very helpful inside and outside of class. He wants all of his students to succeed in his class and will help anyone who needs it. Great Professor.
Faulders is a genuinely good teacher. He makes a tremendous effort to connect with his students and in a weird way, he's reallyyy cute. His class is very interactive and definitely not boring. Also, it's pretty easy to get a good grade. You may not always agree with what he has to say but atleast its interesting food for thought.
Faulders makes a tremendous effort to create a connection with the class. When on the spot some enjoy is while others despise it. Review negative feedback. Philosophy in general can be difficult to understand but if you attend the class there is no problem. Class discussions actually can keep your attention.
i really enjoyed his class. it isnt for the weak though, it takes alot of work. his class is a life class, everything you learn u can apply throughout ur lifetime and it is very helpful. GO TO EVERY CLASS MEETING!! ATTENDANCE is big! 2 tests, final, 2 papers, weekly homework, read aristole in class aloud everyday. he gives pep talks too
Pretentious - 1. Marked by an unwarranted claim to importance or distinction 2. Ostentatious; intended to impress others 3. (Verification for this usage is being sought)+: Demanding of skill or daring
In the beginning this professor comes across as difficult, opinionated, and exhibiting a superiority complex. Do not let this fool you - he is weeding out less-serious students. By the end of the semester we had about 10 students left in the class and he was helpful and personable. Stick it out and you will look back on him as one of the best!
Dr. Faulders is an amazing teacher. This is seriously one of my favorite classes and im not into philosophy at all. He explains the subject well and isnt crazy if you turn in a paper late. no deadlines or anything. He does say some racial comments about like handicap and stuff like that but hes not against them or anything.i highly recommend taking
Take this class!! It is not the easiest class and he knows it. He only expects you to understand 10-20% of the material, but then again this isnt an easy A. It's an easy B, go to class and listen to his lectures. They arent a bore, the discussions in class are always enlightening! Definitely challenges you and really gets you thinking! great teachr
Dr. Faulders is a very intelligent, understanding, and direct professor. He is very knowledgable and enthusiastic about his subject with a touch of sarcasm. I really enjoyed his class. It is not an easy class but not difficult either. He cares if you care, if you don't care, then he doesnt. Treats student with respect, like equals. Thought provokin
Very hard class to sit through. Opposing views be warned b/c Dr. Faulders is extremely conservative. He mine as well be teaching bigotry b/c that's all that will result if you agree with what he says. He teaches hatred and preaches about his personal views rather than Aristotle's. AVOID THIS CLASS!
The professor is reasonable and will not put you down, will not tell you "that's wrong" but will say "or" instead. Opinionated but willing to agree on yours sometimes, just listen to what he is trying to say you may not agree at first but you'll realize later that it is acceptable. Aside from the latest book, he will make you study Aristotle. BEST!
An easy B. He likes to get involved with students. Smart, good logic teacher. tests may be slightly hard. Overall i would take him again
Easy b, dont avoid this class, you will regret it for the rest of your life
One of the best professors ive had. If you don't do well in his class, then college is not for you. Very understanding and a fantastic teacher. Highly recommended, dont miss him, you will regret it forever. Easiest B ever, just attend
He teaches responsiblility but he is extremely politically biased. If you disagree with him on ony of his views it will count against your grade! Just nod your head and agree with everything he says to get the grade you deserve. Avoid this teacher and take a real philosophy course. Im complaining to the Dean for his hateful comments against Muslims
Encourages shared opinions. Very available through email. He is biased almost to an annoying degree but his great teaching outweighs that. Good role model. I really, really philosophy because of him! Great class.
He is a very intelligent man but he uses his knowledge of logical fallacies to brain wash his students into believing all his points of view. He ridicules any student who disagrees with him to disincourage anyone to challange him. It is disgusting that he teaches young people. He does not explore fully the field of philosophy.Very poor introduction
This class has made me want to read further into the subject of philosophy and natural theology. It's all thanks to Dr. Faulders.
I thought the class would be boring at first since he seemed so extremely anal, after a couple weeks class got more interesting and he let loose a little bit. He's super nice and friendly. Take the class, it will make you think. Subject is relateable. Plus, i think he's kinda sexy!!
the class is fun, it really gets me thinking but im just not sure about the teacher he calls on me then when i say what i think he will make fun of me and says some stupid thing think like copeto whatever that means. he also made a bad comment on people with down syndrome which i found offensive and the class too but he just smiled at laughed
Great teacher!!! This class was very interesting and I learned alot. If I had the time I would take some of his others classes. Highly recommended and easy to get a good grade.
Nice guy. Goes over Aristotle in class. Clearly catholic and shares his catholic views on topics in class. Accepts late work, just have to get it to him by end of semester. Study leture notes and an A or B is easily attainable.
Great professor, one of the bast I've had outside of the field I'm entering. Take the time and sit after class to talk if you can. He will allow late work just talk to him about it. Highly recommended professor. Can't wait to take another of his classes.
I genuinely enjoyed his class. This guy is smart and knows his stuff. The HW isnt hard at all.he's really easygoing with it. Dont stress. Exams are literally based on hw. He wants you to be vocal/give your opinions which makes the class very interesting. Stay with the class despite first impressions. I would definitely take another class with him.
I took this class because I thought the subject matter would be appealing, but he ruined all my interest in ethics. He is a raving conservative and if you disagree just ignore what he says or you will be unhappy. Nod your head, laugh at the jokes, and agree with him. Please avoid this class unless you have a very high bar for ignorance. CAPITO
The class started off pretty well, he's a good teacher and knows his philosophy. But clearly does not remain impartial involving religion. Tests and Homework assignments are easy B's & A's.
Really inspiring. This professor cares about what the students are getting from his Ethics class. He makes discussion of Aristotle's ethics really interesting and you leave the class feeling motivated to become a better person. I would highly recommend him for anyone-- even if you don't think you're interested in philosophy!
He has specific things he wants to see in the homework and papers you turn in: 12-pt serif font, 1-inch margins, footnotes, and bibliography. Put in footnotes and a bibliography no matter what. He doesn't tell you he wants this until the middle of the class. Besides that, he is a relatively OK teacher who twists some things to fit his worldview.
Awesome teacher. He is really helpful and open to talk. Also, he is sexy. All the comments about him being biased are ridiculous. He is helpful and open to listening to every point of view. He doesn't have to agree with you! Its not his job, he is there to help you learn philosophy. Obviously he has his opinions, everyone does. Cool laid-back guy.
Love him. I read all the bad comments about him before i took this class and was wary, but he didn't live up to them at all. He is highly educated and doesn't give his opinion unless he is well versed in the subject. I feel a sense of ignorance when i read the angry comments about him. I don't agree with many of his views but he is open and cool.
He is annoyingly biased and judgemental. He said Einstein was a bad person because he married his cousin. It didn't even have anything to do with the topic, he was just trying to get us to dislike Einstein because he didn't believe in god, and Faulders does. The people who rated him and don't think he's biased, must also believe in god.
Really great professor. Has strong views, but gives evidence for his views. Drops Berkley plugs into every lecture. Work hard and you will get a good grade. Homework is difficult and time consuming, but worth it. Overall, well-educated, easy to understand. Fun class.
Dr. Faulders is one of the best teacher I have ever had. He may be pretty strong willed with his own philosophy, and with religion, but He is objective and loves Philo. he is VERY experianced and wants his students to fully understand and believe in themselves and in Philo. A+, High Five, Bravo, Cookies and Milk, and take the class if you want a go
AWESOME PROFESSOR. he gets A+ bravo gold star. (class joke) he truly is an awesome guy. he made the subjecct very fun an interesting. he has a messed up sense of humor sometimes, but jokes around alot and is very funny. you should definitely be a berkeley fan.
Dr. Faulders is awesome! His class is extremely interesting, probably the most interesting class I have ever taken. He really makes you think about everything like God and religion... stuff you don't really get to talk about in other classes. He really likes when you are involved in class, so speak up!
AWESOME teacher!! you should definitely take this class...wacky sense of humor, but really funny. this was definitely my favorite class
I told one of my freinds to take this class. GREAT CLASS, i miss it.-Darrel
Dr Faulder's arrogance, delusions of grandeur, and blatant antisemitism lead him to focus more on himself than on teaching. He seems resentful that he isn't teaching at UC's and is at a JC and is determined to take it out on his class. This class is way above an Intro to Phil class. Do yourself and your GPA a favor and skip him. Pick a diff Prof.
I had very high hopes for this class, but was incredibly let down with this professor's performance. I sincerely hope he decides to reform his approach to teaching for future students who take his class to be academically challenged rather than personally belittled. I would not recommend this professor to anyone who takes their education seriously.
he talks about Pete's Coffee and UC Berkeley a lot. he's completely convinced that god is real and that traditional marriage is good, and can be pretty offensive if you don't share his views. he doesn't even talk about the essays you have to write. he seems narrow-minded, and i had high hopes going in to the class. now i just wish i could drop.
He presses his views too much and there is very little room to point out your opinion. If you don't agree with his views it's a hard class to get through. If you believe in God you will probably like the class. He doesn't give you any prior notice when your tests or essays are due or what its even on. I wish i didn't take the class.
He would be perfect, if you enjoyed listening to republican brain washing. Because that is what his class is like. If you want to pass just try to agree with him. Be aware that he dodges questions of opposing viewpoints, so attend at your own risk!
go on his website and look at the essays for "example", they all say the same freaking opinion.I would never forget this horrible class.BRAIN WASH.
The Doctor hardly acts like a professional at all. He presents a right-wing Catholic outlook while simultaneously suppressing dissenting opinion in class. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS, unless of course you enjoy being a Catholic automaton.
He is a great guy, but has very strong views, and is an extreme catholic and keeps mentioning that what he says is right and how he has "proof". Interesting class if you dont mind listening to his ridiculous strong beliefs
I will never forget this horrible person
Definitely an interesting guy and interesting class that makes you think about your life and future. It's easy to pass, an A you'll have to work for though. Papers due every week, and you need to make them long and thoughtful if you want an A. He IS opinionated, but it just makes for an interesting class. Somewhere, but really nice, capito? :)
best teacher ever. i wanted to drop when i first started, now im so thankful i didnt. he really gets you thinking and everything makes sense. lectures are rarely boring and everyone is involved. homework is easy as long as you have the books. highly recommend him!
Do not take this class if you like to have your views and opinions respected. He is very biased and pushes his religion on you. Also, don't plan on getting an A no matter how much effort you put into it. I spent hours on all the assignments every weekend and still got a B in the class. I wish I didn't even waste my time taking it.
Good teacher. I loved that fact his mind was like a library. The only thing that I didn't like was the fact that he expected a lot out of homework. I was blow away by his intelligence though.
I enjoyed his class most of the time. There was a lot of in class discussions. He really engages with his student. He has a wacky sense of humor, however, things got tense whenever student opposed his views. Overall, he does make you expand your mind. His class is easy to pass but impossible to get an A in.
Great professor! I was discouraged in the beginning about all the assignments but after awhile I really started to enjoy the class. The discussions were interesting and made me think long after the class was over. I'd recommend this professor to anyone taking PHIL MO1. I learned so much. And with hard work was able to get an A!
A lot of the mean stuff said on here is true, but he is a good guy! Okay so he was rude to a girl because she said she didn’t believe in God & she left class (it was sad), but I think it was easy enough to just say what he wanted to hear and get an A. He was really nice to me and it was an easy class, take it if you want I mean do what you want
I loved this class and loved this teacher. Half of the subject matter is difficult but he made it fun and interesting. As long as you show up and show you are trying, you will pass. He does say things that you might not like so if your opinionated don't take him, if you are open and don't care what people think, TAKE HIM!
Take this teacher! He will work with you if you need help. Do all the HW! The homework is not hard, just time consuming. Show up to class! He takes attendance daily and it will be a deciding factor of your final grade if you are between 2 grades. Tests are very much like the study guides. Find a buddy to study with because it really helps!
Honestly one of the most boring and robotic teachers ever. Jokes aren't funny at all. He's very cocky about himself and makes us community college students feel like crap because we aren't attending UC Berkely. Honestly dropped the class my 3rd week. There are better philosophy teachers out there ! He expects 6-8 hrs of reading a week. not my vibe.
Hard class. Expects lots of reading. He's willing to help but most of the things he says you have to process and think about it more than once to understand. Books are full of complex words. Intersting class but very difficult material and hard to understand ! Do your self a favor and find another teacher. And about the cocky side... A bit true.
All time best teacher. Makes class interesting and fun! I would def take another class with him. Homework is easy because its everything thats discussed in class. I would highly recommend him. I would be happy to go to his class; I'd look forward to going.
Greatest teacher ! Wonderful and enjoyable class. I would definitely take his class again. Interesting and pretty easy class overall. Extremely nice, funny, and helpful. Loved his class.
Great teacher. Best teacher I've ever had. Yeah he has strong opinions on certain things but he is also a very honest teacher and he also focuses on his students one on one. I definitely learned so much in this class I never thought I'd do so well esp because his class is hard and requires lots of work but he makes his class so fun and interesting
Faulders is one of the best professors on campus. He's incredibly intelligent, hilarious, and just a nice guy overall. Taking his class will make you smarter. He does have strong opinions on things, some of which I disagree with, but I still really appreciate everything he taught me. Lots of work, material can be hard, but it's worth it.
Very good teacher. He likes to get to know students and talks regularly to you. Interesting lectures. He helps guide students and tries to help motivate students. Easy quizzes if you read the book and pay attention to lectures. Homework is easy if you listen to lectures.
A lot of material and packets and yes, he is very one sided and opinionated but I really liked him and getting a B is pretty guaranteed. Super religious but that part did not bother me even though I disagreed with some of his views. Overall, nice.
Dr.Faulders is exceptional at being who he is, in the field of Philosophy. He's very professional and loves his profession. The man is extremely well read, and it shows. I respect this professor with all my heart. He's very much in tune with today's societies and very well educated to what it was like in the various societies during 350BC. Star
Isn't tough at all! You just must put your own effort in. I enjoyed this class so much & made the subject so interesting! I loved going to class. Homework isn't tough neither are tests if you pay attention! Buy the books!
Not the easiest A but if you do your work and study for tests you'll get an A. He cares very much about his students and the subject matter. Tests are easy, 2 papers are easy and homework is easy. More busy work than hard work. I enjoyed the class and learned a lot but i wouldnt take him again.
