Amazing & Extraordinary Professor! Made a potential boring subject highly interesting!
SUX. No help. Boring lectures. Says "uh" too much. Once counted over 130 times in under 5 minutes!
test are muti-choice, must take good notes, shes ok,
This teacher likes to judge students and falsely accussed me of cheating because the essay part of my exam was too good to be from me!
This teacher is very boring and monotone, but don't let her catch you yawning or she will call you out! The multiple choice is easy but her essays are just ridiculous. She is hellbent on giving you information overload!
Why is she still working? She stutters SO BAD. Essays were horrible even though multiple choice is always easy. DON'T EVER CONSCIOUSLY SIGN UP FOR ONE OF HER BORING CLASSES. She loves to rewrite history meaning the book is always wrong.
Excellent if you get interested. Must read the books and take good notes. Get on the internet. 1/4 of multiple choice comes directly from there. Don't try to cram. 100 years in 14 weeks is not suited for that type of studying.
Here class was not a cake walk. You need to pay attention, take plenty of notes, and study. Some of the multiple choice on test come from the books's online quizzes. The essasy aren't easy, but if you give a clear thesis and supporting evidence you will make a B or better on the exams. Pay attention to her lecture and u won't need to read the book.
Horrible, very disorganized. Do not take if you don't have to.
Extremely Boring but not a difficult class if you do the boring busy work.
Her lectures are very interesting and she is extremely knowledgeable on the subject of Women's History. However, there is a lot of reading (5 books), her exams are all essay, and if you don't get the same thing she does from the assigned readings, you will do poorly on the 10 (Essay) Pop Quizzes. If you are not a great writer, don't bother!
Be ready to read, read, read. Keep up with this and you should do good. The lectures were not the best but can be helpful. Helpful hint: the more detail you write on quizes and test the better you will do.
She was an absolute nightmare in sheeps clothing! She gave low F's(20's & 40's) to several students,(not me). Passive-aggresive personality. She plays up to the type cast of the feminist power hungary woman. God prevent her from being a female role-model it could be disastrous. I am still waiting for my masters degree based on how she graded us.
Extremely boring.........she says "UM" like back to back.....feminist, and stupid class if taken with her! If intersted in history she is not the lady to take!
Dr. Case is one of the most extraordinary prof, will get you ready for grad school, knows her history. Her expectations R extremely high and teaches class at a very analytical level, which at semester end is beneficial. 5 books. MUST do your readings, pop quizzes every other wk but helps you for the final. All exams - essay. Take Sat. I got an A!
She is the worst! She says one thing and does the other. She is brutal in her grading and is great at destroying soneone's confidence. Nightmare semeste!! I hate her!
Brutal in her grading. I'm an A student, I did extra credit & I still got a B. Not a class you can coast through. Exam q's come from the book (stuff she assigned you to read and DIDNT assign but you have to read anyway), the notes, the website for the book & videos she decides to show in class. If you have ALOT of time to study you can pass.
She is a difficult teacher. You have to read everything and review her lectures. her grading system is based on 90% essays. You really have to know your stuff to pass her class.
She was very helpful to me when I had to miss class. All you have to do is ask with her. Her tests are essay and come with a blue book and be prepared to write! KNOW THE SIGNIFICANCE of the text!!
This is college, folks...you might have to actually pick up a book and read it once in a while! Dr. Case is a fantastic professor! She knows her stuff and while she is strict in her grading, you should expect that! If you want to coast through a class without doing any actual work, don't take her. A+!
This was the hardest class I have ever taken. You have so much reading to do and at this level she expects interaction. She tends to ramble a little bit and may not want to hear your comments if it's not what she's thinking. Overall she's a great professor but not for a slacker.
Dr. Case lectured and used PowerPoint presentations. she also expected you to read the textbook but did not really discuss during class. You need to take good notes in class, read and be prepared for her tests. All tests are 90% essay.
Very good instructor.
She is a great professor. While the class is not easy, it is very enjoyable. I think she is very fair with her grading - if you put in the effort you will make a good grade.
very very boring, all the starbucks in the world cant keep you awake studders. the class started out with 35 students, at the final only about 5 showed up. pretty bad
says uh every other word, skips around, u never know what shes talkig about. always looked strung out on caffeine, very disorganized. thought it was fine 4 her students to drop out before the semesters half way over.if u write a good essay she thinks ur cheating. she actually told me to drop her class said she didnt think i was smart enough. awful
This is a good class. You have to do your reading and she gives daily quizes on the reading. Her tests are over half essay, but she gives out study guides to help you prepare. She is very excited about history and I found the class interesting.
She is a very diificult proffessor, do not take her class if i were you.
One of the best teachers I have ever had. She doesn't think for you because you have to learn to think for yourself. Dr.Case provides a great service by giving you a small taste of graduate level instruction. Take advantage and gather all you can because it will help you for the rest of your life
Dr. Case is an excellent professor if you want to learn. If you are looking for an easy A, or for a professor to tell you what to think, do not take her, she inspires her students to ask difficult questions, and to think outside the box. If you are a history major, you should have to take at least one of her classes.
Prof. Case is extremely nice & one of UHD's best professors. She pushes her students to perform at a higher level, which helps UHD become a better school. She is helpful, kind, & very intelligent. Felt very comfortable asking questions in her class & with some hard work, I got an A. UHD's lazy students will not like her but I think she's great!
very bad stuters and is very disorganized!!!
very intelligent and passionate professor. Requires lots of reading, but once you do the reading you will be fine. Very understanding and gives extra credit work. She gets a little lost in her train of thought when lecturing but great teacher overall.
Do not take this class! She requires too much. Out of class readings which are very boring, online quizzes, and she requires you to write an essay for every exam. I would not recommend her to anyone!
Dr. Case cares about you learning. She is straight forward on the exams with some multiple choise and essays. She gives the essay Qs prior to exam so you need to write the essays at home so you can reproduce it on the exam. You need to do your work to pass the class. People who say she is bad were the ones that do not show up to class!
I have never dropped a class until taking Dr. Cases. Although her passion is a breath of fresh air, her expectations are somewhat unreasonable. I appreciate the workload she requires when there is upfront clarity which is non-existent. It was pure sensory overload in regards to the enormous amount of emails and what not.
Online class treated as a 5day a week class. Constant announcements and discussion board posts. Takes too long to grade papers so you have no idea if your meeting her expectations before the next paper is due. I spent more time deciphering the constant posts than working on assignments. Not reccommended for working professionals.
Dr. Case has been extremely helpful from day one, even very last minute questions on essays have been answered quickly. Her class will certainly require you to think, but this class is a prime example of higher learning. It is not easy, but it is definitely manageable. Note: Class has followed a T/Th schedule, and I'm a working professional, too.
Not suggested for online. Probably better in person however just a note to all, she is a liberal femanazi who doesn't care about your opinion so be prepared to read her mind to get the grade. I got a B playing the game. Didn't like her at all but did what I had to do.
Class Is Not So Complicated Once You Do The Reading Which Is A Lot. There Just 3 Exams,No Final, Which Consist Of About 30 Questions Plus An Essay. She Gives Essay Topics Ahead Of Time. Overall Class Is Not Difficult Just Do The Work.
I would recommed her to those who enjoy reading 30-40 page chapters. The books are semi interesting that are to be read for this class. Easy B at the most but if you want the A on your transcript then you have to keep up with your notes and reading.
Dr.Case is a great professor! One of the best I've taken at UHD, loved her class. She is very clear in her lectures and in what it required to pass this course. If you pay attention and read you will have no problem passing this class! Definitively recommend to take her!
Dr. Case, is amazing! She is very detailed in her lectures and makes sure that you understand. All you have to do is take notes and read chapters, and you really shouldn't have trouble passing with a high B or A. I highly recommend her!:)
Quiz in the beginning of class over required reading once a week. Test contains multiple choice questions and an essay which she gives the topic before the test day so you have time to put the essay together. Take good notes while she lectures and read the required readings and you should do fine. Lectures are interesting. I would take her again.
Dr. Case, really sparked my interest. She uses a couple different books and some on-line videos, her exams come from class lectures (so attend class) and quizzes come from the readings, and the on-line videos. She offers extra credit (2 pts. per exam), as well you can get extra credit on some of the in-class quizzes.
Quiz in the beginning of class- you MUST read all the material assigned. Lots of reading. MUST attend class because exam questions come straight from the lectures which she does not provide lecture material online. If you miss class, you must find a way to obtain notes. If you want to learn history, take her class. I enjoyed her class but not easy.
Very helpful, always willing to meet with students and help them where she could. I have to admit, I love history ... I found her style very refreshing. Go to class, listen, take notes, read assigned material, and ask questions. Not a hard class, but not an easy A. If you try, you'll do well. If you don't care, why are you going to college?
She's extremely confusing I swear, honestly doubt if I pass her class. I would've been better off taking this class at HCC.
This professor is one of those that believes firmly that no one is perfect, and as such no one truly deserves an A on anything really. As of this moment I have a 3.8 GPA at UHD and was unable to achieve an A on anything in her class. All B's no matter how much effort I put forth. Do yourself a favor and stay clear of this one.
hardest teacher I have ever had in my college career. she is the toughest grader and loves for you to read read read. the tests are insanely hard, I have no idea how she expects anyone to remember to information she tests on. do not take her!
Before taking her class, I read what people said about her and her class on here. Honestly, she's not bad at all. There is A LOT of reading, but if you do it, you will be fine. Her tests are based off of what you read and her lectures, so attendance is important. Also, she is really flexible when it comes to asking her for help.
Dr. Case is a sweet person in general, but when it comes to History its like tooth and nail. She requires a lot in her class; currently taking a Summer course with her and it feels like a full semester course. Three papers, exams, and of course discussion. If another professor was offering a upper level history course I wouldn't have took her.
These comments would have helped me b4 I registered, avoid her for online history, You have to read 15 digital history six chapters and three videos for a quiz. she gives you way too much information and grades her essay very hard, If you are failing her test do not expect the essay to help you. IF YOU ARE TAKING THIS HISTORY ONLINE TAKE IT ALONE.
Dr. Case is an amazing professor. I am so glad to have taken her for my first upper level history class. She and I really clicked at the beginning of class. She is really personable. She cares about her students. I had a lot of car troubles at the beginning of class and she was really nice about it. I hope I can take her again for another class.
Took her online course, grades discussions and papers very hard, and i am a pretty good writer. doesn't give feedback as to why your paper got the grade it did. TONS OF READING from several sources. quizzes are HARD with questions about tiny details hardest class I have taken especially for a 1000 level course
lots of reading
The work given was pretty clear and concise although this professor makes you work for your grade. There is ALOT of reading for this class aside from the three books you have to get for her class. She pays attention to detail so make sure you study for your tests.
failed this class with an F, took it again with another professor and got an A. Her was class was long and boring and she thinks she funny which shes not. I'm one of those people that actually likes school but I hated this class
While I enjoyed subject, I would never take this professor again. Summer online, 2 papers required. She made a big fuss about paraphrasing at the beginning of the course, so when I wrote my papers I did it blind to avoid. She assumed that I used source material and then marked up paper saying I didn't cite. Arguing w/ no results. Heavy reading.
I took her class HIST 1306 and i had to drop it. her grading method is really really tough. you have to put in a whole lot of effort. She is nice and caring but she has really high expectations. i one time put a lot of effort in one of her tests and got a 64. I could not understand why i failed it. DO NOT TAKE HER... YOU WILL FAIL...
Took her online class so some things may not apply to on campus students. Took 4 tests and had 4 papers. We read about 1-2 chapters a week from various sources and had a discussion weekly or biweekly. Tests are straightforward if you follow her case commentary and ACTUALLY read. Do the work and do it well and you can receive an A.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!!!!!! I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!!!!!! She is sweet dont get me wrong very caring but she is is a tough grader and gives out a lot of reading material if you are not a strong writer that is more of a reason to move pass this Professor the majority of this is writing papers for No reason!!! BEWARE!!!!
So many negative responses that I was afraid of taking her, well let me tell you the truth she is not easy, but school is not supposed to be easy. So honestly I would recommend taking her for one reason, and that is that you will be tested on how you pay attention and receive feedback, trust me when I say this, this class will help.
This professor is ridiculous and has unrealistic expectations. She is a tough graders who acts like youre trying to get into grad school! Do not take her class!!!
Honestly Dr. Case is one of the best professors I have ever taken in my life! She really cares about her students and really pushed me to be a better student, if I could take every class with her for the rest of my college career I would. She never criticizes, but always gives feedback in a way to make you realize you realize your potential.
Dr. Case is amazing, yes, the class does have quite the workload, but it is completely doable. Dr. Case goes above and beyond to help and provide feedback. She has been one of the most involved professors I have ever had, and I genuinely feel like she cares for her students. She is a true gem at UHD and for the history department.
I love that she is passionate about teaching, and she helps me out a lot.
she really loves and knows what she's doing so, of course, she makes you work for a good grade, As long as you take notes and actively participate in the class and talk to her she's amazing and so willing to help any of her students understand
not clear on what she is looking for when she wants you to write a paper. I would not recommend her to anyone going back to school.
She is such a hard teacher and is always going to give you feedback on your work. So be ready to get her feedback very often. I have taken many history upper level classes and she is one of the worse. I don't recommend you taking her for History beginners. She will give you a chance to change your work and does give grace day periods.
Oh boy, her class is SO unnecessarily convoluted. I mean, her requirements are insane for the course level taken, I am just taking historians craft, an entry level history course and it is jacked. There are over a 100 tasks , a speech, 5 quizzes, debate, 13 participation exams, 14 application exams, a bunk history report, a source report, etc...
Dr. Case is a very intelligent and caring professor, she really wants to help students improve their analytical and writing skills. That being said, her classes are hard with a very heavy workload. Be prepared to devote a lot of time and really rack your brain over some of your assignments. If you're not a history major I wouldn't recommend her.
Dr. Case is the most demanding professor I've ever had; she pushed me to deliver nothing less than my absolute best. She was always accessible and answered emails in most cases the same day; I will use the writing skills I learned in her class for the rest of my life. Dr. Case is a true gem of a professor.
Dr. Case is a wonderful professor, she pushes you to do your best in each assignment and gives feedback on all your work. In every essay that you write she'll tell you in various areas to improve and my writing skills have gotten better thanks to her feedback. If you take her class you won't regret it, she is a very passionate professor.
PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! I DID NOT LISTEN TO THE BAD REVIEWS AND THAT WAS A GRAVE MISTAKE!! ABSOLUTELY UNREALISTIC ABOUT ASSIGNMENTS, THE HARDEST GRADER I HAVE EVER COME ACROSS IN MY ENTIRE COLLEGE CAREER. HEED MY WARNING. EXTREMELY DIFFICULT ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ARE TAKING OTHER CLASSES AND HAVE A FAMILY LIFE. DON'T DO IT!!!!
Professor Case is an exceptional instructor. She provides such a welcoming and open space for any thoughts or interest regarding history. She engages with her class&break downs difficult topics to enable a better understanding. You can see how passionate she is about history. You truly have no excuses to fail this course if you try.Average # of hw!
I took Dr. Case for Historians Craft and she has been the hardest grader I've ever had at UHD. The tests, quizzes, papers, and group projects were all very hard and confusing. She is the only one that teaches this class, so there is no way around her. Very nice lady, but I got a C after making this my main focus class and I feel lucky. Good luck.
I found this course extremely difficult and overwhelming in its assignments and expectations. Way too much work and no reason for total lockdown on tests. Stress!! All my group felt the same. I would never take this professor for any other courses. She needs to lighten the load. On a positive note, she is easily accessible and caring. AVOID!
Challenging but not impossible. Assignments are clear, but there is a lot of work that goes into them. I think people take course expecting something easy, and it is not. If you want something easy, avoid the class. However, fair grader, easily accessable, cares, and gives great feedback on assignments.
Dr. Case as a professor, is amazing and very caring. She is very clear on what is expected of her class. She also gives out plenty of opportunities to fix your grade and tends to drop the lowest grades. The problem with this class is there is a lot of writing and she is very strict on papers and citing sources.
While the professor is caring and will try to help you pass, it doesn't make up for the overwhelming amount of work she gives you. Although her syllabus is straight to the point on work, keeping up throughout the semester will be impossible. If you are considering this class- make sure to look at other options, its not worth it.
She is a very nice teacher; I enjoyed the class a lot as it was super easy but insightful, she gives great feedback and is also very encouraging
She gives opportunities like extra credit, and she drops a couple of quizzes at the end of the semester. She is very understanding. However, it is a demanding class with numerous assignments, readings, quizzes, tests, and more material. You will have to focus a lot to get an A.
I chose the online class because I thought it was going to be easier. It wasn't. Get ready to listen to long lecture videos, discussions, &read a lot because the tests are nearly impossible to pass without studying for 2 days straight. Barely passed and rarely gives extra credit. This is a good example of how a bad professor can ruin a good class.
I've taken her twice and she really is kind & caring. She gives good lectures, but you kind of have to keep up. The exams are a bit hit or miss, the objective questions will get you sometimes but the essays, she gives great feedback on. Overall a solid class to get credit for and not overwhelming at all
I took this class online, and it was pretty easy if you paid attention. There was a discussion due every week but she gave grace periods. The exams were a bit much—multiple choice plus written responses and an essay—but she just wanted to make sure we watched the videos. There were 4 exams, a final, and a signature assignment.
Dr. Case requires so much it's exhausting. Feels more like an English class than a history class. Lots of reading, lots of lectures and timed written exams which seems so unfair. She's extremely strict and a tough/unfair grader.
I was nervous at first of taking her course but she is a very kind and passionate about her course. Her course is very easy as long as you do the readings needed for her quizzes. Most of the questions for her quizzes are also on her tests. There is one big research paper at the end but she guides you on what she expects and provides feedbacks.
Dr. Case was awesome. If you get a bad grade it's probably because you didn't do anything, or didn't even bother to try.
