Taught Human Sexuality for the first time. First couple tests were from a test bank created by the makers of the book, the final was based on her lecture. She can be a little passive aggressive in class, (i think maybe because she feels "attacked" by the students) but shes a nice person when you talk to her one-on-one.
She's a great teacher and really loves what she teaches. attendance is mandatory but tests are straight off the powerpoints.
I took her for both Human Sexuality and Child and Adolescent Health. She is an amazing prof! Passionate about her field-knows what she's talking about! Go to class, do her exams reviews, follow guidelines for papers and you will get an A!
She was great. I learned alot and had a good time in class. Isn't too demanding. Should pull off an A with some studying the night before. Mandatory attendance but if you have perfect attendance you get +10 for your grade. Highly recommended
I just love her. She actually seems to enjoy her job, which makes the class all the better. Class always has a big discussion component that makes it go fast. She's smart, fun, and a giving grader. Put in effort and it's an easy A. No missed classes = 10+ pts
Such an awesome professor! A little boring at times since she only uses powerpoint, but she made human sexuality such a fun and comfortable class. She gives 10 bonus points for perfect attendance. Her tests are really managable. She also does a lot of group work for grades (EASY A's). She was a lot of fun, and I am glad I have her next semester
I loved her! She used power points, with a couple guest lecturers. Tests are short answer not scantron, but they are pretty easy and she gives study guides. NO final, just a group project which isn't difficult. I would definitely recommend!
GREAT PROFESSOR! Sweetest professor at JMU! She cares about her students. Theresa is down to earth and really makes an effort to make class fun and interactive. The best health science professor. DEFINITELY take her!!!
If you don't take her, you're crazy. Few projects throughout the semester. Few tests. If you attend all classes you get 10 extra credit points. Shes an easy grader and really wants to help you. Uses powerpoints. No Friday classes even when the class was supposed to be mowedfri. Easy A!
Theresa was one fine teacher, and by fine i mean she was lookin GOOOOD..DEF. take this class, she's all you could want in a teacher..did i mention she's BANGIN? i didn't even care that she was pregnant when i took her class, she was still smokin! all you men out there are crazy if you don't take this class cause she's one HOT MAMA
She is great! All materials needed are online which really saves you money. 3 easy ut long assignments that really help bring your grade up. 3 tests which are short answer format but she sometimes grades hard. Overall great and fun class.
This professor rocks. I am trying to get into a class she's teaching next semester; plus she's extremely attractive. Her tests aren't that hard, as long as you study the study guides she has. 3 projects are assigned, but if you put in time, she makes sure you do well. Awesome teacher
Enyeart-Smith is a great teacher. She gives you so many opportunities to bring your grade up, like extra credit points for coming to class. Tests can be hard but easy assignments will bring your grade up if you don't do well.
SOOO nice! I love this class!!!! Easy A or B
She's a great professor! If you go to class and do the work, you'll definitely get an A. She's very approachable and the projects she assigns are actually relevant and help you to learn the material.
Dr. Smith is awesome. She's really nice and very helpful. As long as you do your work and show up for class an A is very manageable. I would definitely recommend taking her!!
Great teacher, fair grading, and many ways to bring up your grade (Blackboard quizzes, assignments, and projects) But by all means, DO NOT take two of her classes at once. She does not have final exams, just final group projects that are very time consuming and long (up to 20 pages) So if you are in 2 of her classes, thats double group projects
AVOID this class. Way too time consuming and difficult for a 300 level class. Grading is unfair, too much emphasis on APA citations, and NO textbook to reference!
By far worst professor I have had at JMU. She is completely useless in office hours. And she is not fair with grading. Stresses APA too heavily. AVOID for child adolescent thats all I have to say.
She does not give you back your papers so unless you ask her for them in office hours you will not know what you did wrong. The test are hard. You need to do the study guides and readings (no text book). Not always the easiest class to pay attention in. Be prepared to put in effort and do work.
Good teacher. Child Adolescent isnt the most interesting class, but I enjoyed it. She has "online readings" rather than a book. READ THEM. tests are based off of the readings online and powerpoints. end of they year project/presentation isnt soo bad. easy B, not so hard A.
Just don't take her. She makes the class way too difficult for what it really is. It's also extremely boring. Her class should be called "story time 101." If you take it you'll understand. Her grading scale is also wack. She does NO +- and according to her, an 82.9 and lower is a C. Oh, and our first test average was a 68, no curve. Have fun.
She is AWFUL! she tells stories of examples of health change the ENTIRE time, but you never see any of it on the test. She has a 7 point grading scale.. and doesn't round so a 92.9 is a B.. no + or - for grades. Tests are impossibly hard cause she doesn't teach any of it. 1st test average was a 64 (F) and there was no curve
Dr. Enyeart-Smith gives tough tests but they are doable if you put the time into it. She's helpful in office hours and cares about her students. Definitely recommend if you're willing to put the work in! 8pt grading scale it the worst thougha 92 is a B no plusminus :(
She is so nice and always willing to help! She gives three tests and the final is a final group project. There are no Friday classes but instead a discussion board every week. Tests are pretty much straight from the powerpoint. Attendance is mandatory but she awards bonus points if you don't miss any classes.
-DONT BUY TEXT BOOK -she takes attendance EVERY CLASS sign in and gives you 5 extra points at the end so go to class #boring -test are tough and fill in the blank STUDY/KNOW YOUR STUFF -ask her questions DURING THE TEST for clarifications of the questions bc they are tricky -GO TO OFFICE HOURS to check citations/projects she's nit picky
If you had her for other classes this one is really different in the testing. You MUST do her exam reviews or you will do poorly on her tests. Also pick groups wisely you will have several projects with them and they make up a big part of your grade.
I would recommend taking 351 online over the summer to any health science major. Its much easier online. We had a lot of discussion posts and the tests came straight from the power points.
Super boring lectures and makes the exams so much harder than necessary. Really cool professor but the content seems very easy and then you are tested on the hardest material. Lots of group work that can help boost your grade. She has a 7 point grading scale and no +/- so hard to get even a B. Definitely think there are easier professors.
The material is sooo easy. The tests will make you cry. She's a nice professor overall but her tests are crazy. 3 outside of class assignments, 3 tests, final presentation. No textbook everything's on canvas.
She is one of the sweetest professors I've had at JMU. The class itself has a TON of outside work (it should be 4 credits), but if you jump ahead at the beginning of the semester you'll be fine. Lectures directly from the textbook, so ignore lectures and straight up study the textbook for easy As on the exams. 10/10 would recommend.
SOOOOO much outside of class work for a 3 credit class. Lectures are boring and she reads straight off of a powerpoint that doesn't correlate with the exams, but attendance matters so you can't skip more than twice without it hurting your grade. Tests come from the textbook and cover 6+ chapters at a time so they are hard to study for.
If you love hot moms youll love this class. Tests arent too hard, straight from the powerpoints, discussion board post every week is by far the worst part because theyre long posts. One big paper that you work on throughout the semester, 10 untimed canvas quizzes and a final group project. This class has a lot of work but can be an easy B
This class is entirely based off teaching health behavior change theories. You can't miss more than two classes, and the weekly discussion board counts as attendance as well. The feedback I received on projects was not helpful. Did not find this class to be applicable to my future career.
I really liked this class. You do really have to work for the grade you want as her tests are very specific and difficult. I really liked that she showed passion for the course material.
I have had her for other courses and loved her. This course in particular was terrible. There was so much outside work do. She was overly specific on test questions which was insane when you are covering 6 or more chapters on a test. She did offer a few different extra credit opportunities in this class. She is super approachable and helpful though
Absolutely love her!!!! Had her for 2 classes this semester (351/352) and she is so sweet and makes it easy to succeed. 352 tests are right from practice tests; 351 tests are more from slides and powerpoints. 5 points extra credit for not missing class; lots of outside work tho, def not an easy A but attainable
This was my hardest class of the semester. You really have to put in the work to get good grades on your exam. Textbook heavy, you wont pass the exams if you don't read. Lectures are helpful and goes by the book. There are many assignments through out the semester as a buffer. Point system, not percentage which is nice.
Her lectures can be very boring. Material is very straightforward, but missing a class can set you back. She is a tough grader, and expects a lot. Group project is a lot of work. If you go to class, and do well on tests you can easily get an A. She is a nice lady, and very professional/knowledgable!
I took her class and she was awesome! Such a nice person. I am not from the states and I typically have a hard time learning for classes but she made it so easy for me!
There is a lot of outside work in this class, volunteering and video responses and papers outside of tests. If you know the dates and get ahead of work you will be fine. Do not take the class if you do not have time for outside work.
Class was good, material very dry but information from powerpoints are on every test. Test are mc and short answer. Pay attention to the video she plays in class and be ready for 3-5 short ans. There are a lot of assignments and a group project but they help raise your grade. Also bonus if you don't miss class which is nice. Would highly recommend
would definitely recommend! graded by a lot of things which means everything isn't worth as much (added bonus). Tests are similar to the powerpoints and the format is short answer/multiple choice. She's super helpful with assignments if you ask.
She's the best. Take her. She has so many assessments but they help your grade and she is super sweet. This class is boring but if you don't miss a class she gives you 5 extra credit points and there is no class on Friday its an online discussion board.
There is less that she grades on in comparison to HTH 351. She posts her lectures online. Study EVERYTHING because she asks for specifics on the test. There's also discussion boards, a paper and a presentation. If you skip more than 3 times, points will be deducted. She might be intimidating at first but she's willing to help if you just ask.
Dr. Enyeart Smith is one of the best professors I've ever had. As long as you participate in class, do your work, and study, you can succeed in her class. Her tests are from her PowerPoints and there are a few paper assignments you have to do throughout the semester but they are fun and relevant. 10/10 recommend Dr. Enyeart Smith for this class.
You only get 2 absences and after that each absence deducts 3 points from your grade. She gives an unnecessary amount of assignments that are very lengthy. She is also slightly inconsiderate.
Overly particular about grading. Very boring. Dreaded going to class. The only bonus is that she gives bonus points if you attend every class, and there's an online discussion on Fridays.
Dr. Enyeart-Smith is a respectable professor, but her class is unnecessarily hard. Lectures seem like common sense but she makes her exams tricky. Not to mention she grades very harshly on every assignment. Had an A in the class and my grade dropped 4 points because of the grade she gave my group on the final project where we did what she asked for
She's respectable and kind but this class is utterly useless and an absolute waste of time and money. It should be offered online as this material can easily be self-taught, and the amount of assigned busy work and other nonsense took valuable time away from other classes. She may be better than other professors for HTH 351 but she's just... a lot
She can come off a bit harsh, but she has really good intentions and wants to help you. Overall this class is very dry. And it's a LOT harder than you would expect. You have to put a lot of time into this class & in order to do well on tests/assignments, you have to be extremely thorough. Also, she takes off points for any APA errors!
Dr. Enyeart-Smith is super sweet and really cares about her students. The material isn't too challenging, but there is definitely a lot of work. As long as you follow the rubric/criteria for assignments, you should be okay. Big group project presentation for the final, but you get all semester to work on it if you really want.
seems as though she is a nice person outside of class but I did not like her as a professor. She never lectured us and only went over attendance activities with us during class time which are worth no points but points are deducted if you do not do them. Tests are difficult since she only posts powerpoint slides and you teach yourself.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! She never gives enough information and her PowerPoints are useless. Her tests are hard and no amount of PowerPoints and textbooks will save you.
She is a tough grader, but her class is interesting and she makes you work for your grade. She expects a lot, but is nice and wants you to do well.
I was a straight A student until i took her class because it was unnecessarily difficult. She barely teachers or makes an effort and her tests dont test you on whether or not youre learning, but whether or not you can memorize useless statistics. I would highly recommend to avoid at all costs.
She holds mandatory class where she just lectures off slides. There is a ton of assignments for this class but I think that is the same for every professor. The material seems like common sense, but her tests are quite difficult. There's a semester long project that takes place instead of the final. I think she's the best bet for HTH 351.
Although she seems very nice outside of class, her lectures are extremely dry which makes it difficult to want to go to class (attendance is mandatory). I feel like although her class could be interesting I find myself learning absolutely nothing and that what she talks about is not at all related to what this class would be at all.
Avoid! Attendance is mandatory even though she just reads word for word off the slides. Her exams are so hard and no amount of note-taking at the pointless lectures or reading the textbook could help you. The content is actually so interesting but she makes it so unenjoyable and pointless. DO NOT TAKE HER EVER!!
She is approachable and reasonable but she assigns so much busy work that seems unnecessary and takes her class way more seriously than it is. Attendance is mandatory even though she reads word for word from the PowerPoint and the tests are kind of hard. Very manageable but just an annoying class
Dr. Smith is truly a nice person, but her tests are hard and most of the material on the tests is what she's said in class. You have 4 tests, a group presentation/project, weekly discussion posts, and busy work. She isn't the worst but her class is so boring and all she does is lecture the whole time. I wouldn't take again....
For what this class should be, she makes it unnecessarily hard and so much work.
This class is unnecessarily hard. Attendance is mandatory, but she just reads off the slides that are posted on canvas. Class test averages were in the low 70s and high 60s, but she didn't seem to care. Way too detail oriented for a theory based class.
She is your best bet for HTH 351! I understand it's lecture heavy and a bit boring but the exams reflected the PowerPoint slides. As long as you go to class and participate, you really don't need to study. She was very nice.
I loved her for HTH 351! She was very accessible outside of class and helpful! Her exams really aren't that bad if you actually study the powerpoints because the test questions come right from them lol. Attendance is mandatory but you get extra credit if you have no unexcused absences and she offered additional extra credit as well!
Professor Enyeart-Smith is a very caring and kind person, but this class was unnecessarily difficult for the content. The tests were very specific and the class averages showed it. The lectures dragged on, maybe a change of presentation would benefit the students. A few exams, many assignments, and a big group project which was considered the final
I'm coming back on here to say that if you are going into any sort of health profession, especially public health or health administration, Dr. Enyeart Smith's class pays off. I got my Master's in Public Health and her course helped tremendously with many of my core classes. Save your notes and ask lots of questions!
The content was self explanatory and vague yet the tests were specific and class average was always low. She curved my test once and i got a 60. She cares and the content is interesting, the lectures just drag and she talks a lot about common sense concepts. Lots of stats she wants you to know and shows graphs and charts that are irrelvant.
There was a lot of great information in this class. However the Attendance policy was annoying and her lectures were quite boring. You can learn everything off the PowerPoints alone. Lecture slides were quite lengthy. Tests felt more difficult then they should have been.
Please avoid taking her at all costs. She is hands down the worst professor I have ever had. She is inconsiderate of her students, isn't flexible and grades extremely hard for it being a class based on behavior change. She does not care about if her students do well or not so If you want to do well, don't take her.
Theresa is a nice woman however her tests are hard. The class averages for both sections all are low 70s. Her lectures are extremely boring and hard to focus in. Attendance is mandatory She is an extremely harsh grader and her tests consist of multiple choice followed by free response short answer questions. I would not recommend taking her.
This class and this professor are so intense for no reason. She is a tough grader and her lectures are mind-numbingly boring. The projects and assignments and tests are so over-the-top considering how surface-level the content is. She's taught this class before but she can't be bothered to put in the effort to make it interesting or engaging.
Do not listen to what the other reviews of this professor are telling you. Dr. Enyeart Smith is the worst kind of professor to take for this class. Her lectures are extremely boring and she provides no kind of good feedback when it comes to grading assignments. Furthermore, she is also extremely unhelpful towards her students and grades tough.
Worse HTH professor I've had so far, extremely boring lectures (if attendance wasn't mandatory, the classroom would be empty), she just reads off of the slides...she's a very tough grader, exams are worded really confusing. Her past reviews do not reflect how she is now, if you have other options take someone else. Weekly discussions, bad feedback.
So much work with so little support. Extremely tough grader. Class is just her lecturing and then she gies tons of assignments-- ask weekly discussion boards required to be at least 10 sentences and we have to respond in at least 8 sentences to peers. She's also just rude and will not answer your questions. Very disappointed in this class.
This was the worst HTH professor I've ever had. She is extremely rude and passive aggressive, with lectures that do not correlate to the super wordy questions she puts on her exams. A student asked in front of the class if there would be a curve for one of our exams because the average was so low, and she laughed. Avoid taking her!
Dr. Enyeart Smith is so passive. Her directions are confusing and she doesn't explain thoroughly. If you email her with a question, she responds with a snarky, short response that isn't helpful. None of her assignments made sense and the group project had me SO overwhelmed. She seems nice in class but isn't willing to help if you actually need it.
Something bad must've happened in her life to make her so anal, meticulous, and snarky. Nice at face value, but if you dare email for clarification on grading or a concept she'll give a petty response, blame you for not knowing, and ultimately not help you. Cares more about useless, meticulous technicalities rather than helping you learn/succeed
AVOID!! If you can DO NOT TAKE HER. She is a very tough grader and does not give any room for error. Her directions are always very unclear and you will seem lost for every assignment if you do not ask her questions. She has ridiculously hard tests for no reason when all she does is read right off the PowerPoints. Show up on time also...
She is one of those teachers that some people really like and some people really don't like. Personally I enjoyed taking her, she had easy lectures to follow along with and she was very helpful with any questions when it came to assignments. Attendance is mandatory. Her tests are kinda hard, but manageable.
Mostly lecturing and PowerPoints but I loved that she promoted discussions during class. Fair grader, tests are fair for a 300 level class. Gives extra credit opportunities. Her outfits slayed every class, overall I loved her she was always so sweet!!
I don't know why Dr. Enyeart Smith gets so much hate, I loved her. Her exams are directly from her slides (in order), so if you study at all, you will be fine. I have had her for several classes and she is very approachable and caring if she knows you also care. Don't be scared to take her, she's great! The class can be tough, but you learn a lot!
She was amazing. 3 exams and final project- the first exam was hard but had a huge curve. she is so sweet and cares a lot about attendance. Her lectures were entertaining and always had the whole class talking.
her grading criteria is very clear and straightforward. she is always available in office hours for questions if needed. her exams are a bit difficult but if you study her powerpoint's and quizzes and know them well you will do fine. there is also one group project and one individual project but the criteria is clear. she always has the best hair.
the assignments were easy, but she is very nitpicky when it comes to grading. 2nd and 3rd tests were hard and i studied a lot. difficult for an elective/gen ed. 1 group paper and then group final project w paper and slides.
