A GREAT LADY

Awesome teacher!! She's a social worker and tells real life stories and has you relate them to the material.

She told us alot about her work as a social worker, which made the class enjoyable, and easier to learn since there was a story behind each lesson. She was the first prof I ever had that cursed infront of the class, it was funny.

Anti-Bush, Doesn't cover everything for test. Grades paper easy.

A very nice teacher. Brought many real life stories to the class. Very helpful. Gave me the answers of what to write for the essay. And make sure you go to her review on the day of finals!!!She gives you the entire test!!! I got a 94% on it because of that.

Very awesome! Writes notes and explains them by giving examples of real life stories - very helpful! Gives chances for extra credit. Tests are very straight forward. Gives study sheets. Very very funny & nice! Take this class!!!

Gives good notes, and answers questions well. She also has a lot of good true life stories, and uses them to explain the notes and chapters. I disagree with the foul language rating. Maybee she just improved, but either way i had a great classroom experience.

Good teacher

Professor Gil is a great teacher. I highly recommend her. Teaches everything you need to know. Nothing unnecessary. With a little work it is easily possible to get an A. She's very nice and friendly as well.

She is awesome! She gives study sheets for test with the questions that will be on the test. Tells stories to help you better understand the information. Very funny and nice! Take her classes!! Awesome teacher, awesome!

Awesome personality, very funny, & most importantly she understands what it is like to be a college student. She is far from boring and very tolerable to listen to. The swearing is cool bc it kinda takes away the edge. Teaches the important topics. Very Likely to get a good grade with reasonable effort ;)

You can't be a HVCC Hotshot and just walk into tests: It took me to the 3rd test to actually realize I should have studied for the tests. She's a good professor and gives good notes. Just study for the tests, for the love of god. They aren't hard, I only failed one. If you want to do well, though, study for the tests!!!

AMAZING!!! SHe's so funny. I took her for a summer semester and that class couldn't be better. She's good because shes empathetic with college students. She's got two Masters and a Ph D. She KNOWS what she's talking about! Great notes. Gives personal experience stories to back up psych concepts. If you take psych, take it with her.

One of the best teachers I've ever had. Always has a good story to tell & that helps to remember the material better. Pay attention to the info she gives before the test & actually study & you will do very well. So to all the people complaing about the test, get over it and study harder you have only yourselves to blame. She gave all the info!!!

she is an awsome teacher said you cant pass with out the book but i have an A and i dont have the book just take good notes, and she tells you while your taking note "2 points on the test" if you have to take phsy. take it with her

Prof. Gil, is a phenomenal teacher. Everything is clear and concise. She has real expectations, and is very understanding about life predicaments. You don't really need the textbook just pay attention and take good notes. Her tests are all multiple choice and very easy if you study. I highly recommend her for any class she teaches!

Truley the best teacher you will ever have. Very fair, explains everything, and goes more then the extra mile. If she taught all my classes in every subject I would stay in school and get my docterite!!! Truley the GREATEST!!!!

i had her for general psych, and abnormal psych...she was an amazing teacher. her stories made class interesting and as long as you followed the study guide, you got good grades on the tests.

Ms. Gil is the best teacher ever! Very clear and very helpful, she always tells you things like two points on the test, this is important. She really cares about her students and wants them to succeed! If you don't like storytime don't take this class but i loved it. Great videos too.

Prof. Gil is the best professor I've ever had. Not only is she dedicated to her study of psychology but she is an advacate for her students. She is willing to help you when it is needed. She uses class time to get you to understand the material not just memorize it. Highly recommended!

She was really helpful with no homework yet plenty of help with studying for tests and more than fare in grading them and in general. Gave plenty of chances for extra credit.

Professor Gil is a great teacher who is absolutely passionate about her work. She adds stories to every lesson to help you understand them better. I never used the text book, I just listened in her lectures. I got B's onmy tests. She's easy; all you have to do is take notes.

Prof Gil is extremely laid back but at the same time teaches in a manner thats engaging and fun. Her class is easy if you put in the time to listen to what she has to say and she says alot. so listen well and you will learn. i would recommend any student who wants to learn more about psyche learn it from prof gil. she rocks

Dr. Gil is an excellent professor...her experience in the field of psychology helps her give real life examples that make confusing and complicated topics understandable. This was my first psychology class, and thanks to her I am eager to learn more. The only downside to my class was one incompetent student, the rest was excellent.

Dr. Gill was my absolute favorite teacher this past semester! She is hillarious and very intelligent in the psychology field. I plan to take alot more of her psych classes.

Fantastic professor! She knows her stuff! She has excellent stories to relate to each chapter and has current experience in this field since she is a practicing therapist in PTSD. She is helpful and right on the money with her notes when it comes to her exams. What better to have has a teacher since she is an Alumni at HVCC!

VERY nice professor. She's so funny and intelligent you can't help but have a fun time in her class. She treats her students like friends, so that makes it a lot easier to listen to her lectures. You don't want to sit in the back of the class though because she has a tentancy to be very quiet.

Loved It! Dr. Gil is great. Take her if you are truly interested in learning about Abnormal Behaviors. She has stories to back up almost every personality type & makes you laugh & have fun while learning. It was a pleasure taking her. Do be sure to study textbook & take notes bcse she can be very detailed on exams. THUMBS UP

Professor Gil is one of my favorite professors. She's hilarious and a sweetheart. She tells a lot of stories that not only help us actually learn the material, but also entertains us. you have to take a class with her if your attending hudson valley! if you don't, your missing out on a great teacher! Definitely gives you chances to earn extra credit towards the test, very lieniet with the paper! absolutely love her class.. missed out in the beginning of the semester but i love it now!

way too easy, more like 7th grade than college. she's a good teacher if you just want to be spoon fed. students seem pretty ignorant - she panders to the lowest common denominator and is way too permissive of distraction and disruption. most of what she taught i already knew by middle school. bored beyond belief.

I am now in my second class with Dr. Gil and I am thrilled. She is a sweetheart and she is a phenomenal teacher. She gives study guides and great notes. I love going to class, she makes us laugh and we really learn the material. I still remember stuff from General Psych. Love her!

She is absolutely brilliant. She is a real therapist specializing in PTSD. She knows exactly what she's doing. She couldn't be more helpful. If you want to persue psychology, take her. Even if you don't want to be in that field, take her as a gen Ed requirement. You'll be so glad you did. She's excellent.

This is by far my favorite professor. She is very helpful and does a great job teaching. She doesn't use the book often but I would buy it as her teachings go hand and hand with exactly what is in the book. She really makes you think. Professor uses real life examples everyone can relate to. Patient and nurturing, I wish she was my mom.

She is the best professor I have ever had. She knows exactly what she is sayin, and relates everything so you can understand it. Plenty of office hours at your convenience. She is well experienced, as she is a Psychologist for the area. I love love LOVE this professor, and she developed my love for the Psych field, and now I'm going for it.

She is easy going, very friendly, and has convenient office hours. I loved the class so much, I decided to become a Psych major! I would buy the book, as it goes along with teachings.

Absolutely love her!!! She explains everything clearly, tells great stories with a sense of humor so the information makes sense and the lectures are enjoyable. I found myself laughing a lot. Just study what she tells you to, study the information on the study guides, which is everything you need to know, and you will do great! I got an "A".

One of my favorite teachers. Innitially I was interested in the topic, but her stories made the material easy to understand and very interesting. I looked forward to going to this class. She is approachable, and more than willing to help you reach your goals as long as you are willing to put in the effort.

Professor Gil is amazing to say the least. Not only does she truly and genuinely want to see you succeed but she will basically hold your hand throughout the entire course. Which I loved, you rarely have to ask questions because she explains everything so thoroughly. All around an amazing teacher, every teacher should be like her.

She will always try and help you. Giving you the information that you will need to learn on her tests in every class, and not to mention doing flash cards and hopefully going to her study groups before tests. You will probably pass this class with a A if not a B.

Very funny and very helpful. Stories and lectures were interesting and fun to learn about. Tests were challenging but not too hard. Was willing to help all the time, even had study groups. She was the best teacher I had my first semester.

This woman is such a sweetheart! She will tell you what is going to be on the test, gives great stories about the topics covered, great notes, and holds review sessions before the tests to make sure you get the help you need. There is a research paper but she will hold your hand through the whole process. Take her class -actually- take ALL of them!

Fantastic professor. If you want or need to take psych take it with her. Tells you what is on the test, if you dont understand something she doesnt mind going in to detail. Shes a great person and funny, also will relate psych to life. If you think she is tough or not clear, then you probably should have came to class. If you don't come its on you.

Amazing teacher! She is extremely funny, sweet, and makes sure that you learn what you need to know. At the beginning of the semester she gives you a study guide to follow for each test. She goes through the whole packet with notes each class, and tells stories to help you remember. I can't wait to continue taking psych classes with this woman!

Was very clear in lectures and gave great examples I could actually relate to. She didn't give us much homework which was nice because I could actually study the material at my own pace. Also allows a few chances to get extra credit. I highly recommend her!

Class has intense amount of reading, although I was able to get by with just skimming the chapters. One 10-20 question quiz per chapter (each module is two weeks long and generally includes two chapters, discussion board and responses, two quizzes). Also a 5-6 page research paper due at the end. She is willing to give extra time for the paper.

One of my favorite professors of all time. She managed to effectively teach a large amount of information while making the classroom environment relaxed and dynamic. She answered questions clearly, and frequently change her wording if a student had trouble understanding. I also enjoyed coming to class just because she is extraordinarily kind.

Funny and engaging. Never want to miss lectures because she tells you what you need to know for the upcoming tests with each lecture. Provides study guides. Really enjoys coffee.

best professor ever! she's the funniest person you'll meet! there is a lot of information to know but shell do everything she can to make sure you understand it. tests can be a little difficult but she's very fair at grading. you'll love having her as a professor and you wont be able to wait to hear more of her stories. This teacher is amazing! She is so down to earth and understanding. She gives you a study guide of whats gonna be on each test. so all you gotta do is take the study sheet look up the definitions in the book write them on indexes cards and study them. She writes some notes on board and has story time. Love story time. She makes sure you understand

Theresa is the most phenomenal professor I've ever had. Very caring for her students and a beautiful person inside and out. I fell in love with her when she showed her nurturing spirit. Any student whom did badly in her class were ignorant to their own future! She is the Best.

Was very clear on what was on the exams and she held study groups before each one. Hilarious teacher and her lectures were always well organized and easy to takes notes for. Textbook isnt needed.

Professor Gil is an amazing teacher. She cares about all her students. I will give you some tips about the class: don't miss more then 3 days of class, no homework only tests (so study), you will have one research paper she tell you at the beginning of the school year (no excuses why its late) also she has study groups (she brings snacks).

She is the reason I am interested in psychology, very funny and interesting. Gives clear study guides and takes times to go over material. Tests are on everything in lectures so textbooks arent 100% necessary but Id recommend getting it! She does study groups and beware how much the essay counts toward your grade.

Probably my favorite teacher Ive ever had. She gives engaging lectures that keeps one at attention and makes great connections to stories and real life to provide helpful context. She gives good study advice and will hold her own sessions as well. Shes great.

She loves to tell stories about her past clients to give an idea of how different mental illnesses manifested. Gives very detailed notes and tells you what's going to be on the test, so make sure you go to lectures.

Super nice and easy going. You need to go to lecture to get her notes otherwise you won't pass. Allows 3 absences. Her tests are straight from her notes she gives, don't need textbook. If you attend psych club guest speakers she gives extra credit. She holds study sessions before each test, do note cards she gives 2 E.C. Loved her she's a riot.

Excellent professor. Took her online Child Psych class. She gives amazing feedback. Do the work and you'll do just fine. Is more than willing to give you extra time to complete assignments. So, if you don't do well that's on you! Would totally take another class with her.

I absolutely love Ms. Gil! I had her 9 am class and I was genuinely excited to wake up and get to her class (and I hate waking up early so that's saying something). Best teacher ive ever had in my whole history of going to school. Shes VERY clear, tells you exactly whats going to be on the test. Lectures are helpful for class and for personal life. Shes very deep and caring, very organized.
