She's very nice, patient, kind and considerate. Exams are easy and predictable. She made Statistics class easy to understand. One can easily get an A. Study your book before and after the class if possible do the exercises. Her questions are taken mostly from one of those exercises. You will definitely like her from day 1. I highly recommend her.
she is`wonderful great teacher
Professor Johnson, you are a great human being. You care for your students and really go out of your way to explain some of the hard issues about math. Patient and non insulting. At the same time still challanging and a real subject matter learning experience. If this interests you, take her God bless her.
not a very good teacher, she is too new to the subject. she doesn't really come prepared to answer the difficult problems and often catches herself doing the problems the wrong way [which makes it more confusing] she is nice and meek but she she needs some more experience. not recomended if you are learning the math for the first time.
She makes math harder than it has to be. She forgets what it's like to be a student. She has no time management at all. She is the only teacher that has made me feel so stressed out.No matter how hard you try, she doesnt seem to care! The worse math experience I have had at Pierce!
Great, helpful and extremely clear. I am not a fan of math and she made this class bearable. She is explains thoroughly. Take her!
Who ever says that she's not a good teacher is probably just mad because they didn't pass the class. I have had many math teachers and Ms. Johnson is by far the best one ! She works with students to help them understand. You have to just be a complete idiot not to do well in her class. She really tries to help everyone pass but you have to try also
she's patient, but just not clear
She was great I took her class in the winter and I got an A. I've never gotten an A in math before.
Doesn't know how to TEACH. Strictly uses textbook with no explainations, plows through material slowly with a useless powerpoint show that wastes time & is redundant from board examples. Poor time management, is constantly behind by repeating too many book examples & useless word problems. A good mathematician but not a good math teacher Study hard
HORRIBLE! Teacher I am a math person I love math I'm use to getting As in math and I'm barely passing her class she's the worst teacher there can possibly please save your money and time she's set for faliure she will put you to sleep
I have a better understanding then I did with my last math prof, however, the webassign site is not organized right and herlectures are long and not informational. there isn't a question and answer period regarding homework.she relies on the web site only.she is behind in her schedule, expects you to still take the ex:MET we only had 1 day to study
Very nice and patient teacher. Willing to answer questions. Do your work and you'll be fine
At class time, Good, patient teacher, though will not go beyond what she must do. Sadly she is another teacher who rely on web site for homework?s meaning for her laziness you will need to spend almost 200$ for the book plus access code when second hand good book in trig you can find for 10% of that price.
Waste of time... lazy no need to buy book just get pass code for web Will work with you on Saturdays but limited as so many people need help.. Not clear at all If you are good in math go for it if you need help stay away
Great class if you need an algebra refresher. Homework is done online, where you can check your answers & practice other problems. Quizzes every week. Tests easy compared to the homework. Moves fast, but if you attend class & PAY ATTENTION you will do well. I found her to be very patient, contrary to other reviewers.
Homework online, quizzes are supposed to be every week but she usually runs late and pushes them back. 4 tests and a final. She is good at teaching and always goes over things if students have questions but she is a lazy teacher. Doesn't do things on time or have things ready when she says she will. Can be catty sometimes as well!
Shes lazy as a teacher. Grades arnt on time, were always behind schedule then she speeds up all of a sudden and ppl get lost. HER QUIZZES ARE FAR FROM HOMEWORK. she says to practice hmework and study plan but her quizzes are not even comparable to that. She even takes questions off becuz so many ppl get it wrong. Not recommended
Great teacher... definitely take her for 115
Professor Johnson is a smart and nice math professor, but a disorganized teacher like what others have said in the comments. She is extremely helpful if you ask her any question that you don't understand.
Professor Johnson is very disorganized. She does not cover all of the material in the class. You must go to her unscheduled Saturday meetings to finish the course. This is ridiculous. She needs to take a course in teaching! I was not prepared for the next course!!!
So far one of the best, very pattient professor, super help full,I took her last semester I pass with a B ,I was so happy, she even helped me on saterdays, I don't understand why people are bragging about this professor ,she is the best!!!!!
Very nice lady. very helpful.
Professor Johnson is a wonderful Math 115 teacher. All material taught was clear and concise. She does give random pop quizzes, so don't miss class! A lot of homework given daily, so be prepared. This class will take up a lot of your time.
I was second language ,she tough very good that I could pass her class with A grade ,she is the best professor that i saw in my life ,if you try ,you will pass in class easy .let's go and take her class .she is awesome
She is the best!!! she explains in great detail all. She is available during office hours if you need extra help. You must show up to class and stay the entire class. She teaches very clearly and everything, but if you miss a class (or part of the class) you will be lost. TAKE HER if you are serious about learning math.
I am rating for all the people that like to read these as much as I do. I took her class with Summer 2015, Come to class, take notes, do homework, she allowed a cheat sheet for every exam that we had every week. She gave clear examples and gave classwork for practice and points. Smart professor.
student had to correct the professor often. Disorganized. not easy going. rarely gives partial credit on problems. not a easy A. the only help i got is the formula sheet
Horrible teacher. I have gotten A's in all my math classes. Messes up all the time and is corrected by STUDENTS. Sometimes skips problems because she doesn't know how to do them. If you ask her for help on one problem and she doesn't know it she writes a different one she knows how to do.
Horrible teacher! Messes up all the time!
Absolutely terrible. In math, a few arithmetic errors are acceptable, but CONCEPTUAL MISTAKES (ex. tan cot(x-pi/2) really? and a full rotation around a circle is only PI??) are absolutely unacceptable. If you rely on the professor to teach you material, you will not pass this class because this professor does not know what she is talking about!
I took her class because I thought she was going to be easy. Let me tell you the basics. She does not even know what she is teaching. She messes up on every problem she puts on the board. Her STUDENTS corrects her constantly. HER TESTS ARE ABOUT 5-6 QUETIONS. YOU MESS UP ON ONE QUESTION THEN IT WILL RUIN YOUR WHOLE TEST GRADE.
I took this class for Math 260. It seems as though she needs to go back to school because she does not know how to solve the problems of her examples on the board. HER TESTS ARE TOO SHORT AND HARD. AVOID TAKING HER CLASS. NOBODY HAS RECIEVED AN A IN MY CLASS.
awesome professor, best teacher ever. shes a very visual teacher and perfect for someone like me who is a visual learner
Nice lady but she can really use some help in being organized! This class was all over the place. Grades test really late! Keeps making errors while teaching which made the whole class lost through her lectures. At the end of semester she does curve the grading scale ! Which makes it double for everyone to pass!
I decided to drop her class because math is a difficult subject for me and I had trouble understanding her. She makes a lot of mistakes and the type of problems she gives on test we had not even gone over in class. A LOT OF HOMEWORK. I don't recommend her unless math is very easy for you.
She does not check attendance. She copies problems onto the board from her notes without giving a clear explanation of what she is doing. Comes off as socially awkward. Office hours are helpful. She is not a horrible professor but I would highly recommend taking someone else.
Run out onto the street grab someone by the shoulders and shout "TELL ME EVERYTHING YOU KNOW ABOUT PRECALCULOUS!!" You'll get roughly the same information from that person as you would from taking this class.
She is the best! She curves (if need it) and gives plenty of opportunities to make up for a bad grade. She is methodical and organized, so for those who really want to learn: this is your class. I took Math125 and Math260 with her & hope I can take more w/her. You must show up to every class and stay every second + lots of homework.
Fantastic professor! Her grading is amazing she is such a kind person. Explains math well enough to understand and pass. Don't hesitate taking professor Johnson.
Constantly gets lost during lectures and makes mistakes constantly. Teaches very little. Instead she does examples on the board that often take 35 minutes to complete each. Way too much online webassign homework. Quizzes and homework are on the most difficult problems.
Not for higher level math, I'm sure shes a great low level math teacher but she makes too many mistakes I'm embarrassed for her. It genuinely takes her 30 minutes to solve one EQ and requires help from students when she gets confused. Unless you already know calc do not take her. Atleast 1 quiz or test every week. Does not take attendance.
Assigns too much online homework that she doesn't even know how to do. We took exam 2 on 10/24 and got it back on 11/7, two weeks later. Mean was 20/50 (40%) and the highest score was 42/50 (84%). When confronted about the low scores she just laughed about it and blew it off. Surely she is part of the reason for the low scores. She disagrees.
She doesn't answer the questions/examples using the techniques in the book. She makes up her own methods on approaching an equation, which ends up being much more difficult and easy to get lost in. Very heavy on web assign, no curves and no dropped exams. Quizzes are open note but you only have 10 minutes for 3 questions, partial credit is rare.
She is a nice teacher who does not try to trick you when she tests. she is straight forward with simple tests. she is a bit confusing but you can still understand what she is saying if you're not super super terrible at math. i suck and hate math and honestly she's my favorite. her class is much easier compared to others. weekly quizes open notes.
The final exam is tomorrow. She could not graph a function given the graph of its first and second derivatives. Had to look it up. At the end (10 minutes after class was supposed to end) she says "There, I think you guys are ready for the exam." Are you prepared for the exam professor? Every day in that class is the worst day of my life. Ruins GPA.
She teaches you what you need to know. If she has not taught you something it will not be one the test and she will curve the final. You have to work for your grade. She gives a lot of homework but it is only to help the student practice. If you need help she'll help as long as you ask. Don't miss class unless you know what she is teaching already.
Professor Johnson is a sweet woman, she knows how to teach this class well. If you don't put an effort in this class, you won't do well unless you're very good at math. For someone who has struggled with math, I was able to receive a B with very little effort. JUST BEWARE OF THE FINAL make sure u practice MET stuff before the final by a month.
I'm an average student. It doesn't come easy, I have to put in work. As far as this professor goes- she's sweet as can be, BUT she is all over the place when it comes to teaching. She gets confused often! Which then confuses us! When there is info you don't need she takes her TIME on explaining it, then when you need the into, she flies thru it.
It's math, so it's hard. If you want to do well you have to read the book, do the homework and maybe see a tutor. This is the same no matter what teacher you get, but Johnson provides everything you need to succeed and works very hard so you can. Choosing a math prof is difficult. A bad one can make or break you. She is as good as they come.
Has no idea what she's doing. She's constantly lost of making mistakes but is really good at assigning A LOT of homework. She made us buy a textbook different than everyone else uses so now we have to buy a different book for calculus 2 and 3. Her exams are 60% of the grade with no curve. Avoid to keep your GPA.
She is a very nice human being. She works really hard to make sure students get through the semester. Very soft spoken, humble and caring professsor. In my class she used to solve many problems for us to make sure we understand. She made the cal2 class much easier for the students.
Prof. Johnson is very sweet and if someone needs help, she will go over a problem one more time. Her office hours help a lot, so take advantage of that. Tests are based on homework.
Impossible to learn, she doesn't understand calculus herself. Often gets lost, panics, then asks students "How would you start this problem" to cover up the fact that she has no idea. I wouldnt take this class even as a last resort. You're better off waiting another semester for an open class.
Uses MyStatsLab for homework. Tests use homework like questions and you can have a cheat sheet. Quizzes are open note. Curves final grade of class so 64% was a C and as low as 88% was an A. Explains the material well, but can get distracted by questions while in the middle of teaching. Gives plenty of time for tests. Good overall and nice person.
Good professor who first shows you how to do the problems by hand than on the calculator. Soft spoken and gets distracted from what she is doing by questions. Redo homework and do the study plan to do well on quizzes and tests. No extra credit but final class grade is curved. Drops lowest quiz and replaces lowest test with final if higher.
Tests are mostly multiple choice and there are typically 20 questions, each question you get wrong is -5%. She often doesn't know what she's talking about and makes mistakes; which confuses everyone. TBH, doesn't deserve to be called "professor"
Wouldn't recommend. She is nice and caring, but I don't think she's a very good teacher. She knows her stuff, but she gets confused really easily. Also, don't buy the book, it wasn't useful at all. She does allow you a piece of paper of notes for the tests. Study all the tests and quizzes to do well on the final.
Her teaching style is soo unorganized. She lectures us over the amount of class time because she tends to take a long time explaining stuff due to the constant mistakes she makes. She writes so much information at once on the board, making it hard to keep up and stay on track. She also gives weekly quizzes and a lot of online hmwk. Don't recommend!
Lots of online HW, extends lectures after the class is over, does not take attendance.
Shows you the material and gives you question but seems confused at times to explain the problem but knows how to show it on the board. Quizzes and tests are fair (nothing harder than the homework). You do have to teach yourself but that's with most teachers. Lots of homework but that's with all math class but at least she's extend it to the end
I just don't think she is a very good professor. She knows her math pretty good but not well enough to be teaching it imo.
Professor Johnson is a teacher that is she sees you're trying she will help you boost your grade. She drops 2 of your lowest test scores. And replaces your lowest quiz scores with your highest test score. She curves your grade a lot. The lectures tend to go past the time limit but it's only because she like to makes sure you understand.
She's a nice lady, wants to help and knows her math but she often gets lost herself on the problems. Quizes on Mondays that cover the previous week, tests are fair, and online hw almost daily that is due on the weekend. Be prepared to study for exams. Drops lowest quiz. The class can be overwhelming only if you procrastinate. Overall fair teacher.
Currently in her business calculus summer course and she's great. She explains everything and stops to answer questions if you're confused. Yes, she does make a few mistakes here and there but its nothing that confuses you. She really wants you to leave knowing business calc. I recommend her her
To do really well in this class, be sure you learn the fundamentals behind each section. Because on the quizzes and exams, some questions won't look like anything you've worked on but with your accumulated knowledge of the material, you should be able to figure it out. She grades fairly, and she helps a lot.
She is hands down one of the sweetest souls I have ever met in my life. This course is the hardest course I have ever had to take! With that being said, this course is not a course you can slack and hope to pass. Be prepared to put in the time and extreme effort. Prof. Johnson does her best to teach this complex course to the most simplest form.
Let me start off by saying Professor Johnson is the sweetest professor I've ever had. She tries to her best ability to make sure that her students know the absolute most there is to know about the subject. She goes out of her way to ensure that students are getting the most knowledge out of this class and is always asking if anyone has questions!
I went from hating math and not really understanding it to tolerating it and not hating on the fact I had to be here. She's so sweet and helpful idk why she has a 3.0. Really liked this class. Quizzes every week, i did "ok" on tests and got a B, def recommend taking her.
I took Calculus 2 with her and it was definitely the hardest thing that I have ever done. Get ready to work from day 1 - do your homeworks regulary, but do not use them as a study guide for the tests. There were 4 tests in a semester plus a cumulative final. Each test was 12-16 problems, homeworks anything from 4 problems to 50. STUDY HARD!!!
Hard class, dont take her you will fail easily.
This is a professor that knows what she is talking about and truly cares about her students. As expected from any legitimate college course, you have to put in effort to receive a decent grade. That being said, she replaced the lowest exam with our final and allowed a full page of notes. HW is online and due on exam day, open note quizzes weekly.
She's a really hard professor. She knows what she's doing and she knows what she's teaching, but because of that, she skips a lot of steps and assumes her students knows when they don't. Her tests are really hard and are nothing like the examples she does in class. You won't pass without doing the homework.
She is awesome! Definitely the best math professor I've had. All the homework is online. Although she gives a lot of homework, it is very helpful because the homework is harder than the exams, so if you can do the homework you will be fine on the exams. She is very caring and wants you to pass, so don't hesitate to ask for help.
Calc 2 is hard enough and she doesnt help much with that. Her exams are hard and she is very strict on grading. Theyre also worth 60% of your grade, but she does replace the lowest score with your final. When she lectures she sometimes seems unsure or makes mistakes. She was often late to class too. Overall mediocre professor
I loved her lectures, she is really patient and goes over the problems you dont understand. She has been very helpful during this pandemic. Homework on Wiley Plus, really easy to use. Quizzes are open book and notes. You need to study for the exams. You dont need to buy the book, you have access to it through Wiley Plus. Buy the code only.
Prof. Johnson's class was a struggle. She has loads of hw assigned on my math lab, and quizzes every Monday + tests. You have to stay the entire class or she will add it up for an absent. Her lectures were okay, not very clear and sometimes confusing. This class was not my cup of tea and I was not really understanding anything. She is an okay prof.
Professor Johnson is personable, competent, patient and thorough. She takes time to explain the class material in Math 134, and will answer questions without hesitation. She was able to offer the summer consolidated class in 5 weeks, covering an enormous amount of material, offering tutoring and extra time as needed. This course was taught online.
Do NOT let her being nice make you stay in this class. DOESNT READ HER EMAILS. INVADES PRIVACY. DOESNT TEACH AT ALL. I would learn more from watching a random youtube video. I hate her.
She isn't a bad teacher and is easy as long as you study the material. I took her online and it was manageable and easy. She will go over material if needed and is willing to help her students. Her exams and quizzes are easy if you studied the material. The exams are very similar if not the same from what was covered in class. If you can take her.
Calc 2 is already hard as it is, but Professor Johnson makes it a little easier to pass with a good grade. Although exams are worth 60% of your grade, the questions are mostly multiple choice, straightforward problems, and you don't even have to show any work. She is really nice and always willing to help with any questions you might have.
She's kind and will answer questions, but at no point did I feel as though she was teaching the subject- just skimming the textbook and doing examples. If you like learning calc in a more applied manner, shes not the one for you. She only teaches to the test which, granted, are very easy. easy A for calc 1, but good luck in calc 2 after...
The best! As we move up math classes, she'll constantly remind us the basics we may have forgotten, she does this repetitively & this becomes a habit. She can explain things really well & better she reads the book so when we re-read it, it's fully understood. Tests are not far from her examples and HW is 40%! Just don't expect email responses tho
Professor Johnson gives a lot of partial credit on test questions & the test questions are much easier than the homework problems. Lectures are very thorough & professor is more than willing to respond to students that need clarification. Despite taking her class during a winter session, she's helped me understand the material & get a high grade.
Professor Johnson is really kind and will help you if you're confused, but she has her camera off and takes long pauses in her sentences so you get confused if she's still there. Lectures are fine, but sometimes she moves fast to cover everything and still manages to keep you over time. She also won't respond to emails. Good thing is no proctoring.
Nice teacher, the difficulty of tests is somewhat volatile but most of the time if you study you can get an easy A. The only problem I had was people yapping in the back of the class, which made lectures annoying, the teacher didn't do anything about it but I think she was too nice to. Do the homework and you are going to get an A.
Chill class. As long as u do the hw which is due at the end, u should be fine, don't let lectures scare u. Her tests were also easier than hw and usually just equations rather than word problems. Really sweet professor, takes her time and answers any questions u have without judging. however, no extra credit or curve tho hw 20% exams 60% final 20%
Professor was consistently accessible open to lengthy questions provided feedback via email and grades fairly. It was a great class.
All the homework was due at the end of the semester so you could do it before her final if you really wanted. Lectures were easy to follow and she went at a good pace and allowed you to ask questions. Tests were really easy and some were exact questions from homework or lecture.
Professor Johnson was honestly the best math teacher Ive had. She explains things super clearly and even though we were on a tight 5 week schedule she managed the time well and I learned a lot of math and feel confident in Calculus
Professor Johnson is excellent at teaching calculus in a comprehensive, accessible manner. She also is very attentive to listening and helping with students' concerns and questions when it comes to the material. Her class is worth taking for a good grade, if you attend and pay attention to her lectures and do the homework problems.
Honestly 10/10. Life Changing. Regained my love for math. She is really patient to teach the most basic stuff that we forgot. She is willing to teach everyone, and the test are easy and overall not overwhelming. Her office hours are great and teach you one on one. I'm taking her again for next semester, I hope I take more classes with her.
The professor would visibly get agitated when students asked to review homework questions, said she gives ec but only gave extra credit on the longest exam, most of her class is self-study, and she goes at a slow pace but tries to cram as much material into exams making them information-dense, does not provide any practice exams or study guides.
Do you want an easy A, a good teacher, or an understanding professor who understands how to use canvas? Then this is NOT the professor for you. If you get stuck with her, like I did, then drop IMMEDIATELY. Do not let the first four weeks fool you, because it won't seem bad, until you have to learn important concepts. She's passive aggressive too.
She is amazing at teaching. The only issues I had was that she didn't provide any study guides, leaving students to study so much homework problems and wasting our time studying insignificant ones for the exams. She also lectures after class is over, which could have been prevented if she focused on the more important material.
Professor Johnson is a pretty no frills teacher with a basic style. Many of her lectures are screenshots from the text book with many examples, most of which end up on her tests which is helpful. She answers questions fine unlike many previous reviews, and is willing to adapt to the needs and wants of her class. Only con was a boring class.
Calc 2 is tough but i passed with 99% with her bcuzz she never gives questions that are too crazy whatever is on her exams she has already taught in lecture or its a homework question if you do bad in her class sorry to say it like this but YOURE LAZY - she is so nice and will answer all your questions patiently and is never disrespectful! amazing
This professor is kind enough to answer questions without attitude. She is however not very good at giving said lectures because there were students who earned an A in her class without even showing up to any of the lectures. She would also often get you hopes up by saying she will curve the grades, but not do so. TAKE AS A LAST OPTION, Trust Me.
Great class! The way she teaches is very clear and I learned the material easily. There is about 15-20 questions of online homework per section with a couple of tests in between. You must get the required calculator for this class because she will not let you use a different one on the final.
