Good Teacher
Excellent teahcer. She makes sure all of the students understand a concept before moving on to the next. No homework required, but gives extra credit for doing it. Can ask questions without feeling stupid.
Theresa is one of the most helpful teachers ever. She takes time before and after class to help students. Great teacher for a hard topic.
T. McChesney is without a doubt the best college professor I've ever had. Very enthusiastic, and always willing to spend time before and after class. She knows the subject matter well, and has fun with students while teaching a difficult subject
My favorite math teacher. She is so kind and is always willing to give you extra help. All homework is optional and extra credit if you choose to do it. The reviews were wonderful and made the exams less stressful. I would reccomend her to anyone.
shes a great teacher

The absolute best instructor ever. Homework is extra credit, tests are straight forward, and she will always work with you before and after class. If you have problems with math, she is the one for you. The combined intro/interm class is great. I have a severe dislike for any math and I got an A. She will help you understand! Take her!
I have never been very good in math, but after having McChesney as a teacher I got an A in my class. She helps you understand it in so many different ways. And her homework is extra credit.
Awesome teacher! Homework = extra credit, and extra credit = great! She's nice, and helpful.
Despite the fact that I absolutley despise math, I must confess that I actually looked foward to her class. A MATH class! Can you believe that? Taking Stats from her made me feel smart, even though I just not that good at math.
Super teacher. All the postings are true.I was failing intro to algebra and had an A the minute I walked in her intermediate algebra class. Take her if you have the chance!!!
I took the dual intro and intermediate algebra with her and she is awesome! she really cares if you are getting the concepts. she spends her time teaching her students in terms they can understand instead of trying to make you feel like an idiot because you're not a mathematician. I love the fact she doesn't overuse math terminology. she's great!!!
Great teacher
I had her for college algebra and statistics. She is amazing and so nice. Take her. She's not hard but you learn the material. Wonderful wonderful teacher!!
Great teacher! I dislike math, and I actually look forward to going to class. She is a wonderful teacher, never makes you feel stupid, explains it as many times as it takes. Super teacher! Take her if you can! I have an A in both classes!
excellent professor! normally i hate math, but i truly enjoyed it this time. attending classes is not mandatory, but you do get points for attending classes. there is homework due at the beginning of EACH class. at first i hated it, but it really helped me to stay on track. 2 easy projects (she explains in class) and several exams, not too hard.
Fabulous, Fabulous, Fabulous! She is a wonderful professor that cares to make the material interesting and easily grasped. If you have the opportunity, take her! Forget opportunity, JUST TAKE HER! Easiest math class I have ever taken. She gives enough class work to make it an easy A.
Great professor! She knows her Calc and math in general and teaches beautifully until you understand it. HW is not mandatory but she assigns worksheets that are due periodically but with plenty of time to finish. Tests are fairly easy. She has a great sense of humor and is a sweet lady, reminds me of my mother. : ) Take her!
the greatest teacher i have ever had! she wants you to get a good grade and really helps you learn. I would take any class with her
she is really helpful and shes really easy
Really nice. Extremely easy class. She makes everything really easy to understand
I was extremely scared to take Math because I was terrible in high school and hadn't done it in 10 years. Mrs. McChesney taught me more in one semester then I had learned in my life about math. Extremely good teacher. Very nice and extremely helpful! Makes learning the subject a breeze. TAKE THIS CLASS!
McChesney is a very helpful, cheerful, and full of expression when she instructs her classes. And she can even be helpful one on one more so than any Math professor.
McChesney is an AMAZING math teacher. Math is so not my thing, but she actually made me not only understand it, but enjoy it. She LOVES math, and it shows in her teaching. She is always available and willing to help outside of the class, and you can often find her in the math resource center. She is AWESOME. HIGHLY SUGGESTED.
I had her for my Calculus 1. She was able to present the material in a matter that is comprehensible to the class. she is very assesible. Ready to help you understand the material at her spare time. She is an amazing professor. Trust me. I'm an international student and I have had my share of great professors all over the world. She is #1
She is super kind and helpful, and is always ready and willing to go over examples again. Very intelligent, too.
Great teacher, and super nice. She presents the material in a very organized manner. Short homework assignments every day, not collected, but you get (and need) points from doing it. There also points for work done in class and handed in. You can check grades on Angel. (spring 2010)
Mrs. McChesney was honestly one of the most amazing teachers I have had. HIGHLY recommended...she makes things very easy to understand and is easy to listen to. She genuinely cares about her students success. I was significantly more prepared for Calc II then most the others in my class. If you can take Mrs. McChesney, DO!
The best teacher
She is the best teacher ever!!! I wish i could choose her for all my subjects in what i have left of school...She makes math taste like a peace of cake :)
I love this teacher she is the best ever...Math is too easy with her...*I'm even thinking about changing my major to math*.TAKE HER AND YOU'LL GET AND A
Took her for my Trig class and she is the best Math teacher I have had so far during my time at JCCC. The class is pretty hard but she is a very nice lady that really wants all her students to do well. Homework isn't required but it helps in the long run if you do it.
I took her for Stats...I hate math and she makes everything so easy!! I wish she taught other classes!!
this is the best teacher i have ever had!her tests are like her reviews. goes out of her way to help you.take her if you suck at math like me. homework is extra credit
Mrs. McChesney is by far one of the most clear, energetic, wonderful teachers @ JCCC. She eases you through anything you may believe to be tough. HW is optional but there are daily points awarded & semi-weekly wkshts due for points. All test results are given the option to re-work missed probs as makeup pts. Trust me, she is worth the enrollment.
EXCELLENT TEACHER. by far the best teacher i have ever had. i took the learning comm. class(elem/iterm combined) TAKE HER SHE IS AMAZING
THIS TEACHER IS AMAZING! i took the learning comm. lcon class(combine elem/interm alg.) i thought it would be hard but she is such a great prof i ended up with 97%+ in both!! TAKE HER!
best teacher ever. i did elem/interm alg. in the learning comm. course. ended up with almost 100% in both classes
She is such a pleasant lady, she is the best math professor ever. Her method of teaching is extremely effective and her office time in the math lab helps out a lot. I never felt lost or confuse, she teaches a steady pace, where you never felt rush or overwhelm! Take her, you will not regret!
Mrs. McChesney is just AMAZING! You just have to experience her class yourself to understand. Just take her class, you will not regret!
Can I just say McChesney has the best personality I've ever seen in a professor. She is always smiling and happy! She moves at a great pace that is comfortable and explains everything very well. Love her!
Honestly, the best teacher I've ever had. I've taken 90+ hrs at other colleges,I've never come across someone as intelligent, helpful and clear as Mrs McChesney. I'm terrible at Math but am doing AWESOME (A). She is a natural teacher and never ever makes you feel uncomfortable asking for help. Whether you love math or hate it, TAKE HER!! She rocks!
Wonderful teacher! If you attend class, pay attention, take the time study and put in an effort on your work, there should be no problem. She made statistics fun and interesting, and I really learned a lot. highly recommended!
SHE IS AN MAGNIFICENT TEACHER!! She explains everything clearly, realates the math problems to things that can ACTUALLY be used everyday. If you have any questions at all, or if you miss a class is ALWAYS there to help you get back up to pace. Personally, I'm going to school to be a teacher and I hope I can be as good as her one day!! AWESOME!!
She is amazing. I am horrible at math and was dreading having to take stats but I am very glad I took it with her. She wants you to learn the stuff and do well on the tests. I want to take her for calc too.
i hate math and i am horrible!!! plus i am a horrible test taker. she makes things clear and easy to understand...so far best math teacher i have ever had! you wont regret taking her!
Excellent instructor
Fantastic teacher. Very helpful and easy to understand. Do the class preps (homework) and you're golden.
I took her trig class and was very easy to understand and she allows you to turn in homework until 5pm. She is very helpful but if you miss class, you will definitely miss points.
Professor McChesney does everything she can to make her class passable. She is lenient on homework, available for 1 on 1 time, and the test are just like normal class work. You have to learn trig to pass, but you will. You can work together on in-class quizzes. I haven't had math in 6 years but I got an A on every assignment.
She is a good overall teacher. Very energetic about calculus and she's clear about everything. She doesn't force you to do the homework, but strongly suggest that you do it. Not too hard of a course if you just do the work as you go.
Hands down the best teacher I have ever had. I took her Calculus I course and her trig course and gained an understanding of math that I never had before. If you are looking to learn a subject thoroughly and with a great professor take a math class taught by Theresa McChesney
Best professor I've had at JCCC. You really learn the material with her. She goes over daily ad makes sure you understand before moving on. I really learned a lot from her and enjoyed taking from her. Only problem is her test are almost too easy so they don't prepare you for what the final is like. I would still recommend though.
I could not wait to go to Theresa McChesney's trigonometry class each day. She is a wonderful professor who is just brilliant. Truly a great teacher, in every sense of the word.
Prior to taking this course I had no interest in math-related topics. Theresa has an amazing energy and enthusiasm for what she teaches- it totally changed how I feel about everything! If you struggle with math like I did, I highly recommend taking this class. It was a huge help!
While there is a lot of work for this class, Theresa is a great person and a great teacher. She is always there if you need help! The tests are a bit difficult, but if you study you will be fine. The assignments are easy as well, but there are a lot of them. Also, homework is extra credit and if you do it, you can get a 3% boost to your grade.
A very nice, helpful teacher who is extremely passionate about what she teaches. She is always approachable and willing to help anybody struggling in math. All the homework is extra credit and only worth one point, but you're encouraged to do it. Great teacher.
McChesney is far and away the best Math teacher I have ever had. She is very clear and informative. She assigns homework as extra credit and then goes over it in class. She teaches with respect to the student but with the ease of an elementary class. She is energetic and does not get upset if you don't understand but will do everything to help you.
I loathe math. I am not good at it at all! But, Professor McChesney is awesome! She is sweet, enthusiastic, and very helpful. Homework is optional, but you get 1 point of extra credit every time you do it! Gives worksheets to study from, fair grader, plus her whole personality is adorable. I would absolutely take a class from her again!
I took Professor McChesney's Intermediate and made sure I took all of my math class around her schedule. She is Amazing! Do not waste time with others. She is the best.
McChesney is amazing, and really, that's all you need to know. She gives enough examples in class to help with the material. She does take late work, at a lower max point possible. Calculator usage is allowed generally. Class is actually pretty fun with her. Definitely would take again if she teaches my future math classes.
I dropped out of AP Calc senior year of high school because it was impossible. I dropped Calc 1 here at JCCC last semester because the teacher was insufferable. I've occasionally finished a McChesney Calc assignment, and thought "that was fun." She's amazing. She teaches so that people who have never seen calc before can still easily grasp it.
Quirky personality, helpful and caring. Hardest dang test grader I've ever seen. I felt like I learned a lot and knew the material and then get Cs on the tests. I had an A all semester (with homework and quizzes) and end up with a B because of the final.. she doesn't prepare you for it. Other than that, wonderful teacher.
Absolutely the BEST math instructor at JCCC! She takes time to help during class and during office hours. She genuinely cares and wants you to succeed. Although, my one complaint is that she doesn't properly prepare you for the semester final exam.
She is an excellent teacher with a good understanding of the topic. She easily handled questions and was always happy to expound. She does not require homework, but assigns it and it is beneficial to to most of it for practice. She has a quirky sense of humor and has a generally happy personality that gives life to the classroom.
Absolutely one of the best math professors at JCCC. Regardless of the level of math you're taking, or how good or bad at math you are, you'll find yourself more enthusiastic about math than you were before you took her class. All tests are on the same material you do in homework / worksheets. Show up all the time and you will get a good grade!
Great professor. She's really nice and cares about students. Made the material easy to understand. She made up fun little scenarios to help remember some of the material. She really wants you to understand. Homework is optional.
Professor McChesney is fantastic! Her jokes may be cheesy sometimes, but she is such a fun math professor. She doesn't grade homework, but urges you to do most of it for practice. If you are confused about any of the material, she gives you the attention you need, and shows you the practical use. Highly recommended.
I took her for trigonometry. One of the best math teacher I ever had.
Mrs. McChesney is the best math professor I have had. I was afraid of taking Calc 1 but she made it clear and easy to understand. Just go to class and do all of the work and you will be fine. Take her class if possible!!
Best math teacher I've ever had.
She is hands down the best professor i have ever had in college. She is very caring towards her student and her lectures are very fun. You can tell she is really passionate about her work and loves teaching.
Professor McChesney is a good choice for Trigonometry. She is very organized and really cares about her students. McChesney will provide excellent feedback and is willing to help students with anything. Only a small portion of homework is graded. Do MORE than the minimum so Calculus will be much easier.
The best, really the best, math professor for JCCC. She knows her stuff and teaches very clearly. Theresa also offers help in class if one doesn't understand a concept and will make sure that you will understand it. Tests are ones she makes herself, but they're not hard. She tells you what to study and do, hw is not checked, but do it to improve.
I took her Trig class, already knowing how to do trig and I have a B in the class, Im just waiting on the final. Since I already know the info, its hard to judge how well she teaches it but she showed new ways on how to solve problems that I wasnt taught before which is really cool. Shes also very passionate about math!
Math classes are always dependent on how your instructor teaches and McChesney is one of the best math teachers that I have ever had. She is super clear and always willing to go over things if one doesn't understand.
She is so good! You will have to put in some effort but she is very good at explaining concepts. She has homework that is not graded but you should definitely do it. The worksheet is due every week and tests are only over what is covered in class.
Take her for Calculus 1 she is the best.
Shes an excellent teacher! I had her for Trigonometry class. Homework is not graded but it is very recommended to do so to practice and do well in exams. Her teaching is very clear, she teaches you to actually understand math therefore, less memorization of equations required. I felt like in her class I actually knew what I was doing.
Took during Covid, 4 tests and the final. Super nice prof and great teaching style. Makes sure you understand it and has office hours everyday. Extremely helpful. Class was hard as it was calc, but extra credit for attendance. Show up and you'll be better off. Optional bookwork but it definitely helps. Worksheets for a grade. Great prof
The best math teacher you will ever have. Amazing notes and helpful office hours. INTSTANT and VERY understanding grader. The LECTURES are what sells it: so lively and rich, with analogies and intonation variation to help it actually sink in.
Professor Mcchesney was the best teacher ive ever. She explains things very well and will help you if you do not understand. The homework will help but I rarely did it. Every week we have a Worksheet due on monday and the day of the test. Her office hours are very helpful aswell. As of rn i have an A before the final. The final was brutal tho
This Professor cares for her students, and she would make sure that if you are struggling in the class, she would help you in anyways possible. She also has her own teaching times that are useful for extra help. Just be prepared for the assignments as she grades them like quizzes and for the exam, it's best to attend all of the lectures.
She is amazing. She would give notes and some textbook homework problems to practce. We'd have a worksheet due each Monday and she is helpful to providing clarification on concepts we would struggle with. Office hours are very helpful if you need some extra help. I'd take her for calc if you need a Calculus teacher!
Professor McChesney was one of, if not the best calculus professor I have ever taken. I took her during the covid quarantine and her Zoom lectures were very engaging. There was never a dull moment listening to her explain the material. There is a reason that her RMP rating is so high. She cares about each student and will talk you through problems.
SHE IS THE BEST. Her lectures are clear and the way she teaches is amazing. she is always available for extra help in class or anytime through the day. responds to emails in less 24 hours (sometimes in couple minutes).
Such an amazing and fun teacher! Her classes never bored me and the homework and study guides she gave were exactly what was on the test (concept-wise). Very clear feedback on test and homework.
She's awesome. I took her 8am MWF class in the Spring. I missed 3 whole weeks due to personal reasons, just weeks away from the final, and she caught me up with no problem. I was extremely worried but she made it so easy on me. Just pay attention in class. She has one homework assignment a week and 3 tests total.
Professor McChesney made Trig easier to learn. First in-person class I took in 10 years and definitely was worth it. Tests were exactly what she'd go over in the study guide and she will even let you know the number of problems of each question type to expect. Very appreciative of her making jumping back into math smoother for me!
Professor McChesney is wonderful! She is a great teacher that really cares about her students. She notices when you're struggling and wants to help you. She has office hours and is always happy to assist you. There is a lot of homework but it's pretty easy and she gives you plenty of time to complete it.
I took the ACT again after taking Coll Algebra 1. I got a worse score. Still love this class, would take it again! She even let me take the test on another day when I was sick on test day.
For reference on how amazing Professor McChesney is, she has a small group of former students who often sit with her during her office hours in the Math Resource Center for no reason other than just wanting to spend time with her while doing their homework. She's the best.
If you are not good at math or it is not your best subject take her. She cares for all her students and makes things very easy. No textbook so homework is all on paper which is proven to improve students grades. 100% recommend her for any math class.
The material was presented very clearly and she had great control over her classroom. She will even work with testing accommodations.
Professor McChesney makes math easy and engaging. With no textbook required, the clear lectures and study guides ensure you're prepared for tests. Unstuck AI was a lifesaver for extra practice too.
Proffessor McChesney was by far my favorite teacher I've ever had. She loves math and teaching and cares about her students. She made calculus fun and I wish I could have her for every class. 10/10, if you can take her, do it.
I wish I would've taken professor McChesney so much sooner just because of how awesome she is! I struggled with calculus but after taking it with her I was finally able to understand it. She's literally a breath of fresh air. She's very straightforward with her expectations and study guides which set you up for success. PLEASE take her if you can!
Amazing!!! Graded in-class assignments that occur 3-4 times in a week & cannot be made up otherwise (she drops three of these at the end of the semester). If you do the (optional) homework that she suggests, calc III is a BREEZE!!!!! Tests are very similar to the assigned weekly worksheets.
Professor Mcchesney is one of(if not the) best of teachers i have had. Lectures are clear but detailed and she is great at explaining concepts. i felt like i was always able to follow what we were doing, also a very caring/kind person and is available in the MRC to go over questions! in class quizzes were great too, cannot recommend this prof enough
