What a fun class. The Professor made this go to fast! I want more...
Professor Hart is passionate about her teaching and she cares about what you have to say. She makes everything crystal clear a far as the outline of the semester. This professor is one of the students because she will literally talk to you about anything. She's the best! only thing that sucks is writing the 6 pg. paper
shes super into humanities! like if it was the greatest thing in the world(notexagerating) i dont find it interesting, but because she makes it interesting i was never bored. you have to do a final paper 6 pages, 2 group presentations, 3 book reviews(not bad though) inclass exams with 10 given points EASY! textbook rarely used.shes funny andhelpful
Really enthusiastic and makes class fun, but she does assign a lot of work. There isn't really daily homework, but there are a few small papers and one big research paper, and she's RIDICULOUSLY harsh grading if you have formatting errors, but doesn't sit down with you one-on-one and show you how to fix them. You get 4 absences per semester.
Professor Hart is very entertaining in class, but her power points are way too distracting and there is easily a whole paragraph of writing per slide - hard to read through- very hard to focus because of all the colors and writing
Professor Hart is ridic when it comes to helping students. I asked for clarification about an item on the syllabus and was told that the time for that had passed and I should have asked on day two when she did NOT ask if anyone had questions. She is abrasive and thinks this course is way more important than it really truly is. Don't take.
Please don't take her. She's a horrible grader and doesn't make it clear what she's looking for in your papers. She often goes off-topic to brag about herself. Her powerpoints are ridiculously cluttered and useless. Too many book reports, quizzes, and papers. Doesn't explain any assignment because "it's on blackboard." I've grown to hate this woman
She is so bad. Rude, not clear, grades papers rough, cant recommend
This class is more labor intensive than some of my other classes combined. I have never done so much work for a 101 level class in my whole college career. Ridiculously hard grader. While her classes can be entertaining, she tends to be on the sassy side. Explore other HUM prof. options before signing up with Hart.
RUDE! Kids showed up 2 minutes late and would not be let in. When a student opened door she very disrespectfully threw them out and gave them zeros. WAY too much material needed for class and was a massive amount of work, even compared to a calculus class. also unclear about what she want and is generally rude in class. Avoid her at all costs
Strict Teacher. Exams and reading quizzes are easy and straightforward as long as you pay attention. She loves what she teaches which makes class easier! If you ask for help, she will gladly help you. Do your work, study for the exams, and READ THE ASSIGNED BOOKS!! If you do that, you'll get an A.
This class was not an easy A, but it is possible. Her quizzes and tests are VERY easy. All Professor Hart wants from students is for them to participate in class discussions. The papers for the class are easy, there is a research paper. The only way to do bad in this class is to not read. It's a MYTHOLOGY course, there will be a lot of reading.
Hart does not clarify what she is looking for in papers. The syllabus is almost 8 pages and there is a quiz over reviewing it. The power points are extremely long, there is a lot of information and things needed to remember for a 101 class. She goes pass the time class is supposed to be over frequently. She is very abrasive and unapproachable.
I received a 0% on a paper because the format was not in "doc" . Asked if I could email it to her next time just in case and told me "don't bother". I received the grade that people who plagiarize ... Unbelievable for student who actually read the book and turned the paper in on time. Unfair & unprofessional.
Therese Hart will talk down AT you if you do not agree with her way of thinking. Very abrasive and am extremely harsh grader.
Its an easy class, but boring. There are 5 books that you need to read & write a 4-5 page paper on. Quizzes & worksheets also (both easy). Professor Hart will talk down to you and flaunt the fact that she has a PhD. Very cocky & has a bad attitude at times. Make sure you always have your papers in correct format or else-ZERO. I don't recommend her.
Prof Hart is very passionate about the class. She is a tough grader & is upfront about what she expects of her students. Class involves lots of reading & writing, but papers replace exams. Almost every class involves group discussions & attendance matters. As long as you attend class, read the books & write good papers, you should find class easy.
be prepared we had a book discussion you just go over what book your reading at the time I forgot my book and she kicked me out of class and gave me an F for the day and that was the second class day that I missed if you miss 4 your done for your dropped from the class and fail I thought it was going to be an easy because I took it in hs wrong
I took class, but I forgot write down attendence. she doesn't accept even she knows I was in class! Also She so rude for students. Terrible teacher ever
I earned a D on my first analysis paper, but she only graded based off of the safeassign grade. She thought that since I quoted from the book, that it was borderline plagiarism, even though I properly cited. The next paper, I got a zero, because I used wrong format. The last two I got 90% because I only cited twice. DO NOT TAKE
Her class was horrible. Before a group project she went around the room and told people EXACTLY what to put in their PowerPoint (So why didn't you just make them?). She's rude if you have an opinion and gets uppity and loud if you don't back down making you want to be quiet, but not talking takes away from your grade. Do not recommend this teacher.
Not too bad not too good. She's rude and unclear. if you do the work you will be fine
I've taken multiple classes with Hart. Her tests are absurdly easy, but she is very strict about MLA formatting on papers. Like, you can get 25% off your final paper grade if its not perfect. However she is enthusiastic and encourages group discussion, and is generally funny and interesting to listen to. I never used the books.
Prof. Hart KNOWS HER STUFF. That being said, her lectures are very long and she doesn't let you use electronics in class for notes. There were only 2 tests and 3 5-question book quizzes and all were ridiculously easy. No final, but 2 group projects and 3 long-ish essays as well. There's so much info, but so little is actually on the tests.
Professor Hart was very intelligent in her field, and you can tell she is very passionate about what she teaches. She comes off very aggressive, but she is a strict teacher and she does not mess around. If you need help, she will be more than happy to sit down with you and help you. Tests are easy, papers are hard. Just try and you will do fine.
From the films capturing different time periods to the various genres of art, Professor Hart brings great energy to the class and it was one of my favorites this semester. The assignments and quizzes and exams have questions discussed in class or in videos. 4 excused absences. Show up and you have no reason to fail.
Professor Hart is an amazing instructor with a very interesting class. Three papers in the entire class and gives great feedback.
I love her, she makes it SO clear what you need to do for an A. Im taking her the summer of 2018 and reading was crunched but she is not shy of sharing answers with you. shes very knowledgeable about mythology and wants you to pass. Shes so funny and super sweet i wish i took her for hum125
Awesome professor! She knows how to captivate her students attention combining intresting topics and modern strategies. During the entire course, she takes you back in time, in a virtual tour, to rediscover the beautiful art of renaissance, postmodernism and our contemporary days. Very impressive!
She tends to overshare, and she sounds a little bit wacky, but shes human. She has high standards for you but shes a fun professor. Participate as much as you can. She take that energy and make her lectures more interesting.
I have no idea why her rating is so low! Top 5 Harper Professor of 2018. She's very easy going you just need to show up and participate. YES! Your going to have to read but it's about Greek Mythology, it's not that challenging. She's absolutely, hilarious and the second half of the semester we watch movies!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER! YOU'LL HAVE FUN!
Really interesting class and awesome professor. Taking her again next semester.
Professor Hart has an interesting style of teaching. You are required to rent/buy FIVE books, there are three essays, and 8 quizzes. If you submit any of your papers the "wrong way" according to her strict syllabus, you will receive a 0 for that paper no exceptions (will really affect your grade). Regret ever taking this class, especially with her.
Professor Hart is an amazing professor!! The class is easy if you try and put the effort in. She makes class interesting and fun. One of the best people Ive met in my life. Wish I could take her again!
Nice professor, very animated and funny!! If you listen to her lectures, youll pass, the tests and essays are pretty much what she teaches you! Only complaints are that the articles she gives are super long (one was 20 pages??) and she is always late to class, at least 5-10 mins. Which is fine but on test days or long lecture days, can be bad
I took her for a humanities class. Very lecture heavy but she gives you some answers for her tests on her powerpoints. Skip more than four classes, you will go down a letter grade... you turn your essays in a different format other than Microsoft Word, you automatically get a zero on it. "It's in the syllabus, no exceptions".
I would not recommend her to anyone. While she tries to remain fair to all students she is not sympathetic at all. I would rather not graduate college than take another one of her classes. Make sure you check the syllabus and follow everything to her likings or you wont pass. She doesnt care whats going on in your life so be prepared for that.
she is not approachable at all. She is very rude at times
Incredible professor, great material, and excellent lectures. She truly knows how to captivate students and help them grasp a deeper understanding of the material. No busy work; plenty of opportunities for extra credit. She is straight-forward and no b.s., but is very fair. If you don't like her courses, it's probably your own irresponsible fault.
One of the worst teachers I've ever had, but certainly the rudest and most inconsiderate. She is always right, even when she's wrong. She's unwilling to work with students period. She does not care about how well you do in her course. You must follow her format when submitting essays, any deviations of the slightest degree? Expect HARSH penalties.
She does not explain anything to you, she wants you to look up everything. She will give you an 0 f if you dont do things the way she wants them even if its an easy fix. Terrible prof definitely dont recommend.
Rude, full of herself, condescending, and talks down to students. The class is easy, but if you don't want to be treated like a child then don't take her. She isn't consistent in her instructions. She doesn't want anyone to make an A in her class and will do just about anything to not give you one.
She is so rude, expects us to be experts in the class. Too much focus on how every single sentence is in the paper. Like, give us a break. Take this advice DON'T TAKE HER.
Whoever gives this teacher a 5, please check into a mental institution. This teacher literally wants students to fail her class. Post examples and says to follow them, those examples are traps since you will get a low grade if you use them. Don't even get me started on all the extra B.S she has in her class just to confuse students. DONT TAKE HER!
She is the absolute worst. I was very sick with a fever and a headache the week an essay was due and was trying my best to focus to get it done to only get a 0 because I turned it in as a PDF. She's very inconsiderate. Very particular and does not grade you based on the content you put out- she grades you on all the other technical stuff. Hate her!
Professor Hart is very condescending and rude. She constantly threatens students, saying she will give us a zero or report us to the college if we don't do what she wants. She is difficult to approach and is so strict with grading it becomes ridiculous. Please trust me when I say to avoid her at all costs. Don't make the same mistake I did.
Very unprofessional and quite unpleasant. I have never "rated" a teacher; however, professor Hart is immeasurably atrocious. Save yourself the unnecessary stress, and avoid this teacher at all costs.
This teacher was not always the accessible outside of class, email replies took too long and were not always helpful or written in a nice tone. I had tried to get questions answered by her and told her the cites she referred earlier were confusing but instead of helping she sent me to the same cites that I said I had troubles with.
Terrible Professor. She is condescending super condescending & doesnt care about her students. I dont understand how she is the department chair either. She will not grade you based on content only technical stuff. DO NOT TAKE HER
If you are thinking about taking Professor Hart's class... Don't! Professor Hart more like Professor Heartless! I studied and read for hours a day and was given multiple zeros on assignments worth 100+ points. I believe teachers should care about their students. She wants to show her dominance over her students and does not want them to succeed.
Horrible, absolutely pitiful. Avoid this teacher like the plague. Honestly worst teacher I have ever encountered in my entire academic career, seriously.
THE WORST. SAVE YOURSELF!!! RUN, RUN FAR AWAY AND NEVER LOOK AT THIS CLASS. YOU WILL REGRET IT, SHE IS THE WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED. SHE NEVER GRADES BASED ON THE CONTEXT. SHE IS NOT HELPFUL AND NOT SURE HOW SHE IS THE "DEPARTMENT CHAIR" TORTUROUS!!!
This teacher deserves a negative scoreShe's dog water.
I have never written a teacher review before but this time is absolutely necessary. Prof Hart is truly the WORST teacher I have ever had!!! in my academic career. total b ach she is. during covid she is so strict doesn't have empathy doesn't take anything late whereas every other teacher does, grades so tough, very vague in Directions
Prof Hart is the worst professor I've ever had. She was super unapproachable and very, VERY rude. I was scared to ask any questions about assignments because her responses were always passive aggressive. Her grading standards made it impossible to get an A on papers, she grades like she want you fail, nick-picking literally anything and everything.
She just makes this class so hard, its online and we all are trying our best. She wants her work perfect without any mistakes which is not possible
She is such a horrible professor every student is trying to work hard with this online school but she wants her work perfect. Other classes are fine but she needs to learn how to be more professional cuz its just Humanities class not some serious Macroeconomy class
First of all, please do NOT take her class if you have the choice. She is very unapproachable and passive aggressive in her responses (emails). She is not very specific either, and all she would say is look at the syllabus. She would also copy and paste the grading rubric in the comments instead of giving us actual detailed feedback.
The layout of her Blackboard page is god awful, I missed 4 weeks worth of assignments because it was so confusing navigating through all the folders and sub-folders. Like actually the topics for the weekly discussion board is on a completely separate word doc buried in folder that's not even close to where the DB's are.
I very much enjoyed my classical mythology class. It was informative. There is a lot of writing and you need to spend time figuring out where things in blackboard are. However, unlike everyone else's comments, I found Professor Hart very helpful and passionate about the subject! I loved taking her class! Lots of writing and reading. Just do thework
I was looking at this class for fall of 2019 and only saw recent (good) reviews. I wish I had read the rest of reviews on the page to see how awful she was. She has absolutely no sympathy for late work. If you talk to her about it, she says it's on the syllabus and there are no exceptions. It's a community college for goodness sake Therese...
She is the best professor I ever had, yes this course is challenging. However, Blackboard is easy to navigate and she puts all the assignments due in each week's folder. She is a tough grader and VERY nit-picky but that's only if you don't follow the student example paper and don't read the syllabus thoroughly. I became a better writer cuz of her!!
This teacher has the absolute WORST blackboard page I've ever seen. Half the time you're navigating through the absolute labyrinth trying to find the next assignment. I feel like I've done more work than any other class and yet learned the least. What's the point of having to submit in .docx only? What teacher doesn't accept .pdf?
Worse teacher I've ever had at any school, doesn't help with anything at all and doesn't give any second chances no matter what the issue is. Worst grader and only takes .Docx not pdf's. I've never seen a teacher not except pdf's or word. would not recommend her at all. class formatting is bs and doesn't give direct instructions on anything
Probably one of the worst teachers I have had in a while. I have had no problem online but she is ridiculous. Stay away, please it has ruined my semester. She is also very passive-aggressive.
Absolutely awful. Extremely rude and unpleasant. Projects her personally issues onto her students. Does not allow second chances and doesn't except pdf docs. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. You've been warned.
do yourself a favor and do NOT take her. I do all my work and meet all of the criteria yet she still gives me a 0/100. She's huge on MLA format so I went for help and did my format with help and she still told me it was wrong and gave me an F. She doesn't care how good your paper is she will still give you an F for MLA.horrible professor. plz RUN.
I wish I would have read the bad reviews instead of the new good reviews. She is a very tough grader. seems to hate her job lol. Really rude and doesn't answer your questions. She tells u to refer to the syllabus as if that would solve everything. Refuses to help. Her grading is terrible and wants everything done her way or else you get an F.
Very heavy grader. If everything is not to her precise wanting, it will be almost a guaranteed fail or c or d. After completing the paper and receiving a bad score, I wanted to Improve my writing skills and ask wants wrong. She directed me to the syllabus with no help, and that was all.
She took 3 days to reply to an email, and her reply was NOT helpful AT ALL. The syllabus alone was 22 pages long. The class required SO much reading. Sometimes she took a while to grade things. There was also a lot of writing to do. Wouldn't take the class again tbh. Also there were WAY too many links for things. It felt impossible to find anything
Negative reviews are correct. If you are not ready to be on time 100% of the time you will receive half of the points that the assignmentis is worth which is an automatic F even if its minutes after the due date/time. No reason, will be accepted for any assignment, exam. Which is extremely unfortunate since this is a HUMANities course.
Was hardly accessible, when one of her links was broken she told me that "No one else had complained of the issue" and that I would have to figure it out myself. Does not accept any late work - and would not let me even complete the work from her broken link past the due date. Expects student to buy multiple textbooks, only to use them for a week.
This class was difficult. We read the Iliad and The Odyssey which were very long materials however there are audiobooks on YouTube. We wrote 3 essays (the final on a play you can choose from) but the guidelines were very clear. She was a nice teacher although I didn't speak a lot to her. The assignments I believe were used for attendance.
Horrid. For the sake of your mental health and academic career, avoid. Theater/art heavy for HUM class, late grading, passive-aggressive emails, 1/10 email response, responses are "refer to syllabus," no feedback, no way to improve, cluster of links, copy-paste responses, MLA is gospel, no PDF's, zero empathy or care. Even smart kids will struggle.
NEVER TAKE THIS PROF! everything youre seeing in the negative reviews is correct. a few weeks away from the end of the sem and I have an F bc she doesnt make any exceptions for late work whatsoever. have had the most stressful year of my life and she just doesnt care. so rude, unfeeling, critical about everything you write, doesnt want you to pass
I have never rated a professor until now. What she believes is a organized BB page is a cluster of links and attachments that make no sense. Graded responses are copy pastes of the syllabus (20 pages long) with no actual feedback to work off of. Please choose your classes early to avoid her class. There is a reason hers is always the last one open.
Professor Hart is strict and unresponsive. I turned in a paper one minute late and got a zero, and she never replied to my email. The quizzes and exams are easy (directly from lecture slides), but she gives no feedback on papers or discussions, just copy pastes instructions from the syllabus. The coursework isn't hard, but her grading is unfair.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF!!! Her blackboard is disorganized and full of useless information. If she DOES reply to your email, it's rude and unhelpful. I took it async and it was the worst experience I've had with a professor to date. Honestly don't know how she's kept her job.
Here's a snippet from her Blackboard: "We are 100% dealing with sexists and racists, have no doubt about that, but keep in mind (before going all "woke" and judging) that this is an ancient culture ..." Truly an awful Prof who expects regurgitation of information instead of learning. Even if it's the only class left, don't take it!!
Not very understanding and very difficult to get a hold of and uninterested in engaging with students with questions.
The most awful teacher, extremely rude, and does not provide any feedback when your assignments are graded. she just copy and paste the assignment as a comment. Extra credit doesn't really count for anything. Drags with grading assignments. Does not respond to emails on time and isn't respectful.
NEVER ANSWERS EMAILSSSSSSSS
I know that this class was an 8-week course so it would be paced faster, but why do I have to write 2-4 paragraph MLA format discussion posts? I also don't like the way the class is organized. It's very confusing and it took me a long time to figure out what to do each week. I ended up just going to the gradebook tab to figure it out.
Not as bad as some people say, but nothing special either. Quizzes and tests are very easy, show up to class and you'll know the material. Four papers based on movies that aren't bad. Blackboard is a jumbled mess. Discussions involves groups, not fun if your class is quiet and doesn't like to read. Mandatory attendance or you lose grade points.
Does not answer emails. Blackboard was very confusing to use. Assigned reading was long & discussion board posts had to be 2-4 paragraphs in MLA format. Does not provide any feedback so you have no idea why points were taken off. The class itself wasn't that hard, it was pretty interesting. Quizzes/tests are easy. Too bad she's the only professor.
I should've read reviews before taking this class. Slow to answer emails, grades way too harshly for an elective class at a community college. Unforgiving and does not care about the circumstances you are in.
