I really like Prof. McGinnis. She may seem a bit intimidating at first, but she is a good speaker, a good storyteller, and a fair instructor. She is strict about her rules, but she lays them out in the syllabus and they are far from unreasonable.

Overall fun teacher. She speaks her mind. Very helpful.

She is a great teacher who tries to connect with all of her students. I really respect her for this. She is very helpful, always trying to get us to improve ourselves, and it is working. I really enjoyed her class this quarter. I highly reccomend her as a teacher.

Therese is a great teacher and can critique your speaking ability really well. She built up my confidence as a speaker. She is approachable, funny and smart. Definately knows a lot about speaking, take her class!

She's a very caring teacher who wants each student to do his best. Her class is very hard and a lot of work. Don't take it if you're looking for a blowoff class. She will go out of her way to help you, so if you want to learn a lot - sign up!

She's excellent! She's really smart, very funny, loves her work and she pushes you to make sure you be your BEST -at everything!I learned a lot about myself and how much I could achieve because of her class. She won't put up with people who don't want to improve personally or acadmically, and be honest about themselves. Take the challenge!

This is not a class for those who do not want to work. I was asked to go beyond what Teacher's typically want and it was hard. Yet, I'm better for this effort and see the results in my job. I learned that appearance, spelling and confidence means a lot! This has been the best class I've taken. She's good looking, too! So it's easy to go to class.

At first she seems difficult and intimidating, but once you're around her more you understand her style; great (blunt) sense of humor,kind and dedicated. She'll do what she can to help you succeed. Her class is a ton of work, but it's amazing how much you learn about the world,the class material and what you can accomplish!

She is awesome! She's bright, funny, challenging, and honest. Some teachers are a joke at COD; not her. She gives a lot to her class and expects a lot in return. You'll learn how to research, write, critically think, and discuss. Some studens hate her because she won't baby them or take their excuses!

If your looking for a blow-off class, this isn't for you. She takes her job seriously, and you will learn a lot. So, if your looking to actually learn social issues and improve your communication skills, take the class. I recommend this class to serious students. Also, Her tardies are counted as absences. so dont show up late.

She doesn’t wear her heart on her sleeve so if you’re looking for empathy please take another class. She pushes you limitation to every limit, and makes you use your head. She rocked. It def. wasn't an easy class but it was fun. She is a really good teacher. I took her global studies class so it was a little more difficult then regular speech - but she is very dedicated to what she does. it's not a bird course - that's for sure. but you do learn a lot.

I took her for the summer course she rocked. Not bad looking either. Hard class but funn she has it down right to the point i learned soo much if you are interested in learning about global and whats going on in the world take her becareful she is a lawyer so u cant bull**** your way out that easy she knows every little thing that is going on.

GREAT CLASS! This class was a lot of fun and very interesting. I learned a lot more than what I would have if I was in a regular speech class. The Professor was awesome. She is a straight forward and funny. She is also very easy to get a long with.

She is very straight forward, basically if you have your work done & you are prepared she likes you. Very approachable, I usually get tense for public speaking, but she made it more comfortable. She's also really attractive/young looking for her age & for to have a 20something yr. old son!

She is soo nice... Really helpful. She actually broke her femur in 7 places and still managed to get all our grades and material ready for the sub. I wish she could have finished with our class!

Okay so she can be nice and sometimes an easy grader but very inconsistant. She seems to grade others easier than some. Also we never had class. She didnt show up ever because she had a bad accident. She graded me easy in the begining and commented my work but towards the end she was very harsh. She just needs to be consistant and make up her mind!

Global Scholars Speech is awesome.She is a great teacher!You learn so much about the world as you give speeches! It's a little overwhelming at first, but once you get into it you want to learn and discuss more. She's always willing to help. She does have standards so be ready to put some time into your speeches.Highly recommend.Not a blowoff class.

Very nice teacher. She has standards, but she was a really nice teacher and was always there to help. It was a little overwhelming at first, but it really wasn't when getting into the swing of the class. If you're looking for an easy A then this teacher is not for you. I definitely recommend her. Therese's class isn't too hard but she does challenge u to be involved. There is very little text book use/homework and she gives out the checklist that she grades speeches off of. She encourages students to be self reliant, so if u like being coddled u will not like her.

Professor McGinnis is very personable. She give each student one-on-one assistance, if needed. Her classes are very educational, interesting, and above enjoyable.

She's very helpful (and funny). I took the NET online class. She uses the COD library guide or Purdue OWL for MLA formatting. It's easy if you pay attention! Really! Just do the work and you'll get an easy A!! Be sure to read the book. You'll need it for all the homework you post and submit in class.

Loved her and her class! Very interactive, lots of fun. I recommend the NET course with her! It's an easy A if you do the work (there's a ton of work, but just do it!).

Excellent teacher! Kind and helpful. Highly recommend. Class moves super fast and there is a lot a work, so don't fall behind. If you do get lost, ask her questions.She will walk you through everything and give extra time to finish your weekly work. Loved the class!

Awesome class.She is very supporting and encouraging. Super friendly and always willing to help. She doesn't hand-hold so be sure to ask for help. She spent hours helping me with one outline! Learned TONS! Way more about life skills than just public speaking. She's not an EZ Prof. but highly recommended to get a grip on reality & how to succeed in our crazy world today. Did poorly on a test I did not study for or would have Aced the class. She doesnt take any BS - not a blow-off class. EXTREMELY worth effort if serious about learning!

I took her class over the summer, and she is one of the nicest professors I've ever had. I hated giving speeches, but she was great at getting me to not freak out. I learned a lot in her class, and if I didn't hate giving speeches, I would take her again if she teaches anything else.

She is a very nice, helpful teacher. when a student is going through something, she actually takes the time to listen and help you solve your problem or figure out a way to help you if the problem cannot be solved. she also makes the class understandable for all of the student. overall, this course was very helpful.

I like Professor McGinnis, and she went to bat for me with FAFSA. I will say she is tough on citations, so watch out, but class was enjoyable and she grades fairly. If I had grasped citations quicker i'd have gotten an A instead of a B. FYI don't take the online course, you still have to attend 4 classes and it's more work, so take the regular.

She was a great teacher. She is tough and fair. She does expect a lot from her students, but why wouldn't she? She encourages discussion and will do whatever she can to help you. So if you need help with her class, ask her. She works for you. You pay tuition, which pays her salary. More than that, she really wants to help.

Awesome professor! She teaches not only communication skills but also life skills. She does things like requiring students to show up to class on time in order to make them accountable for their actions. Their is really no room for slacking off in this class. She does though make the class fun, interesting and really creates a community feel.

Therese a WONDERFUL teacher! I was dreading having to take a speech class but she made it enjoyable and I learned A TON! I took her online class which was a breeze, so long as you do the work. IF YOU DONT READ YOU CANT DO THE HOMEWORK! READ! She is just great. Im taking her 1120 small group communication in the fall and cant wait! I got an A.

Professor McGinnis is a no nonsense professor. She is great at what she does though. Very helpful with speeches and sources and will help you with almost anything along as you ask. Very understanding and does not play favors. Great professor and great person.

Ms. McGinnis is a great teacher. You will not be speaking to strangers, she creates a great learning atmosphere. If you take the course seriously you can honestly become a better speaker. The speeches are not that hard, unless you put them off. Follow the instructions she gives on how to prepare a speech and you will succeed in the class.

I wish I had taken her class in the classroom. Internet class was not for me. I am an adult and I knew I wanted to drop the class. In my opinion, she utilized her persuasive skills that are seldom seen outside a courtroom or high ticket sales pitch. I would love to take an advanced speech class with her.

She's super caring about us being okay, and responsible, capable adults. She created a great environment and I was sad when class was over. Class material and class work relates to everyday life stuff so it's useful. You have to read the book to get a good grade on her tests. Take if you want to be disciplined and grow into a responsible adult.

She is amazing. She does require a powerpoint for every speech and a typed outline, but if you put in the work you'll do fine. Super nice and funny! Make sure you participate because you get a lot of points by that. She makes you pick a current event topic for your speeches so you get to pick what you are interested in. Overall the work isn't bad.

Shes a critical grader but she really helps you improve. You need to attend her class every time because she will deduct points. You will use the speech book like twice. There were 3 speeches (one was a group speech.) There are also mini speeches in between & 2exams (my class was only given one) & a final. Shes awesome & bought us pizza! #favclass

She is like a life coach. I highly recommend taking her. Really enjoyed the class, there isn't too much heavy work except for the actual speeches.

Phenomenal professor. She is definitely a tough grader, but makes it clear what she expects so if you put forth the effort you should be fine. There are 3 speeches and 1 exam but she also requires participation and attendance. Overall the class isn't all that bad and her lectures are super interesting and can be inspirational. I'd recommend her.

Loved her class! It's like Speech boot-camp. You learn life lessons to be a better person, more self aware, and accountable for your actions and interactions. Slackers avoid! She means business, I loved it. Genuinely cares if you do your best to have a healthy life. I was inspired to meet class standards.

I loved this class. Therese put together an incredible experience with Projects, Papers, class discussions, and thought questions. I didn't think I would learn so much about human relations, but I did! I highly recommend the course. Also, she's kind, responsive, and experienced in her field!

She will pass you if you work as hard as you can and show her that you can do well. She will give you a break from time to time if you show her that you can do great work throughout your semester. She has really interesting lectures, and showing up is necessary because she counts participation points. You'll love this class regardless of challenges

Mrs. McGinnis is the best I've ever had! I strongly recommend her because she makes giving speeches anxiety free. She gives amazing speeches about life such as why keeping up with the news is important. This professor helped me so much much with critical thinking as well. Do not show up late to her classes though.

I took this class online. The class is not difficult, but involves a good amount of writing. If you do the work you will pass. Class is interesting and relevant to real life group situations. I recommend this professor.

Professor McGinnis is one of the best teachers I have ever had. I can honestly say she is my hero. Her class is just the right amount of challenging. She somehow made taking a speech class fun for me and I will always be grateful for that.
