He also teaches in the other fields of Philosophy and I took him during mini-semester 2004. It was one easy class to get by. He is also teaching at Stafford in Spring 2005. Those of you who are not fond of Philosophy, and yet have to take it due to a requirement, then this is a must take class.

He's cool, but kinda boring sometimes,I thought this class was gonna be sooo hard, but he breaks things down for u. Tests are average, mainly about the powerpoints, I would recommend taking him

4 exams 1 paper, exams mostly cover power-point or handouts that you can download in webct, so you don't really have to read the books. philosophy is not a easy class anyway, if you have to take it, take him.

I took him in the summer and the class was overall easy. Questions from his tests are on his powerpoints. If he mentions anything that are not on his powerpoints, take notes because it's most likely on the test. Got an A and just studied notes.

Great teacher!! Would take again anytime! Gives you sample questions everyday that are all on the tests. Also gives gameshow type review for the class right before you actually going to take the test wow!! Who would of thought learning might ought be fun. Other profs should take a lesson!!

Mr. Thi is an excellent instrutor, I would recommend that anybody should take this class. Most of his test questions comes from the powerpoints and you only have to write one paper. He also gives you so many opportunities to earn extra credit that making an A should not be difficult

Took him over the summer. lectures can be boring but worth attending his class as its an eacy A. tests right off the powerpoint no exageration! gives sample questions which too r on the tests. take him and i guarantee you will end up woth an A. no doubt about that.

This is an easy class. No textbook, he gave you some questions in test. They are all multiple choices. Tests are in his powerpoints. Come to class everyday to get 1 extra point to your final grade. He gives another 2 points for coming to a philosophy table. He's very nice. This is a very relaxing class.

U don't need the book, just the slides off of Web CT. Make sure U print them all & check the slides that r gonna be on d test. He's exams r easy. He gives review questions that show up on exams. He gives extra creditS. I love his sarcasm. He's funny. He makes the class real interesting.

Good laid back Houston style teacher. He stutters when he has a long lecture lol. good teacher and we have a lot of discussions in class. i bought the book but u dont need it. just print out web ct info he gives out and you're fine.

If you need Philosophy, this is who you want to take. I didnt want to believe it, but the drive to Stafford Campus was worth it to me. Uses Pwr Pnt Presentations, gives sample questions that are actually on the test. Great Professor, Easy A!

I took him as my second attempt to take GOVT 2301. I was happy picking him as my professor. He's a simply guy who makes class fun and interesting. You only need to take notes and read a little to pass this class. He gives out lots of opportunities for extra credit. I made an A in this class and only wish I could take him in another course.

Two tests and one final (should be three tests normally), all multiple choices, just read and memorize powerpoint slides. One easy research paper. Lecture is boring and long but he gives extra credit sometimes. He is a very nice and respectful professor who encourage students to discuss.

I remember thinking to myself " How am I going to do this for a whole semester!?" It was so boring and long. The class was on Mondays from 6 to 9pm. As we went a little further into the semester, the class became interesting. His lectures were very helpful and handy for exams. We even had a potluck! I would definitely recommend him.

He truly cares about his students and is always fair. He has a good personality and sense of humor. I throughly enjoyed his class. There is no way you won't get an A. He reviews before tests and power points are online. Just study. Thanks prof Lam!

very nice prof. Just study the powerpoint he gives and u can get above 90. no essay writing. he asks for a half page response for extra credit before each exam. exams are lenghty- almost 60 questions straight from the powerpoint. He teaches good and shows some "cat videos" to refresh minds in between class as it is a three hour class. gives breaks

Very understanding, great teacher. He really does care if you understand the material or not. You take 4 quizzes and 1 is dropped. You have an end of the course essay to write 4-6 pages double spaced. The quizzes can be tricky so make sure to really study the material. Took the class for the first 8 weeks. I would take his class again, very easy.

At first, I wasnt sure if I would make it in his 8-week fast paced course-Everything moves very fast. Hes very responsive to all questions you may have. But putting in the work really does work in your favor. Study the slides for the exams & participate in the group lectures & youll pass with an A. Great professor!!

did my third test today. first two exams were really easy, but in third exam there was a lot of questions from a video in youtube. plz watch the video and prepare for the exam , else you wont be able to answer it. It was a Ted talk show and 22nd century video from youtube for third exam material which i found hard as I did not watch the video

He gives a review sheet of 10-15 questions and those questions will be there in the test. total 60 qns. He lets you to take his tests anytime . If you missed the first test, you can take it along with the third test too. No essays. Just half page response for extra credit is all he gives as writing. shows videos in class and gives break in between

I am an international student. I took Prof Thi lam and i am happy i took his class. Very easy class. learn the powerpoint and you can score good. There are lot of choices he gives which made this class very easy. I scored above 90 in all the three test and got 100 in the term paper. Finished my philosophy requirement with an A grade because of him

He takes only four scores for the final grade. either you take all the four exams or write a term paper of 4-5 pages long which he will take as a test score and drop the least score. Some students wrote the term paper and skipped an exam and some students wrote all the exams and skipped the term paper. Apart from that, he gives extra credit.

My GPA score 4, and I am so peculiar while choosing professors as I do not want to bring down my GPA. I am happy I took Prof Lam as I got enough and more time to do the works of other classes too. Least work among all the other classes i took so far. Finished the class with 3 tests and 1 term paper before the finals as I scored above 96 in all.

This class is an easy A if you put a little time into reading and watching videos that he assigned. Test are easy, he'll give hint on what to study for test so pay attention and take note on that. Lots of interesting things can be learn from this class.

This professor is AMAZING!! Very easy class. He takes the highest for grades. He also rounds up your grade. Just read his power points and you will be fine for the tests. You do not need to purchase a book, but you must read the material he provides. I'm telling you, EASY A!!

Google is not going to help you pass this class. The PowerPoint and papers that the professor provides on Canvas will. You don't need a textbook because the professor will provide you with everything you need. 4 test and 1 essay. 8 discussion questions, 2 for each test. Could get up to 4 bonus points on each test if you do the discussions and reply

Super easy professor. Tests are based on his slides. All you have to do is study his powerpoints and do the exams which have about 60 easy questions.

Professor Lam is very caring and takes his students success very seriously. The material is not hard as long as you read your chapters and post to the discussions. I am very impressed how smoothly this class was run, and how fairly he is at grading. I took his philosophy class online.

Although the test werent easy Prof. Lam is laid back, the discussion were extra credit and the paper was easy. Also quizlet and google is not going to help you with this course.

I am taking PHIL1301 during Summer 2019 session. 4 Tests and weekly discussions as extra credit. You can choose to between taking the 4th test OR a research paper. Philosophy is challenging. However, Mr. Thi Lam powerpoints and notes are sufficient for an A. Easy A as long as you study the notes and do well on quizzes which cannot be found online.

I took Professors Lam philosophy class over the summer, and I can honestly say that he is a great professor. As long as you take your time to read over the powerpoints, you should be in good standing for the tests. You do not have to buy books for his class, so thats a plus.

My friend laughed at me because I took PHIL in person bc they thought it's harder than online. However, trust me. In-person was so much better. I just have to read the ppt and take the exam. The ppt with 50-90 slides looks too much, but when you print it as an outline option, it's only 3-4 pages. sometimes 7-8 pages.

I took this professor this spring and I thought it was gonna be a hard class but it was easy. His tests are based on his powerpoints. it was 30 min for 30 questions so make sure to read the powerpoints. its about 4 tests and one essay 4-6 pgs and the db 2 for every test. easy grader tho.

At first I was afraid to take Philosophy because I didn't know what to expect, but this Professor is very clear of his grading criteria since day ONE. We had 4 exams based on his PowerPoint lectures and videos. I highly recommend that you take him!!!

The main issue with this course taken online is that you will not get a lot of support - it is basically learn the material on your own. Power points are given as well as supporting material but there is no explanation of either. Exams come from both and you will be rushed. Don't waste much time on discussions, just do them for extra credit.

Dude is super chill. Honestly he is a fantastic teacher. The tests aren't hard (provided you actually do the work and pay attention in class). There is a LOT of reading though, so for Heaven's sake, DON'T wait until the last day or two to read (give yourself at least 2 weeks before the test). 10/10 would recommend.

Excellent Professor !! There are 4 exams. One writing assignment which is optional , it will replace the lowest test grade. He gives extra credit like doing the discussion topics.(optional) You can get up to two points added to your exam score. He respond quickly to emails. TAKE HIM !!

Professor Lam is very understanding, all 4 tests are over his readings/ powerpoints that he posts and they don't close at 12 they close at 6am so you have plenty of time to do them. The reading is very simple and he does offer two opportunities for extra credit.

This Professor was amazing! Loved when you participated in class, but the only grades he used were the first 3 exams that were all from the PowerPoints. He was a fast responder to emails and cared about the students. Highly recommend taking his class!

I had a superb experience in this class during the summer. The content was concise, the four tests were easy with answers easily found in the provided PowerPoints, and the paper was not mandatory (it could be used to replace the lowest test score). As for Professor Lam himself, he was very communicative, which was a plus. Take his class in summer!

This professor was exactly what I needed to be introduced to philosophy. He gave lots of lectures, but also was very interactive with the students, and ready to answer any questions. He graded the semester based on 4 open note exam grades and an optional extra credit paper assignment. He was generous with deadlines. Do yourself a favor, take him.

Thi Lam was indeed a great professor! I enjoyed his class very much and would look forward to Thursday nights. His expectations were fair, reasonable and straight forward. I really enjoyed the class and would highly recommend him.

He is so good as a professor, easy 4 tests that made up all of your grade but you are able to search the questions in the powerpoints so is easy to get above 90 on those and in case you need some extra help, you can replace your lowest score with a Critical Analysis Paper. Would definitively recommend for an easy A, and you learn so much with him

It was an easy class. But then easy is subjective, he as a person was great, for sure, and he could've made the course a lot more difficult, but he didn't. Respect him for that. This was an online anytime class don't take my word for in person.

Professor Lam was hands down one of the best professors I've had at Hcc. He truly cares, for his students success, and i found his class to be really cool. His lectures are fun. Definitely would take his classes again.

Your grades mostly depend on your test - fairly easy if you read the PPT and sample questions. Discussions are optional but will help boost your grade, so highly recommend doing it!! Overall, easy professor and getting an A is VERY doable!

His expectations were clear. All of the answers to the test were in the material he gives in the modules. This was a very interesting class, and I was pleased with my grade. Research paper was optional and replaces lowest test score. Discussions are also optional.
