He really wanted us to know our subject and took the time to help us.... those office hours paid off!
Doctor Adamson really knows his stuff. His class is hard but really interesting. One of the past teachers I've ever had!!
poor teacher. confusing and extremely hurried lectures. does not teach and test in a like manner. very difficult class
No Comments
dr. adamson is a great teacher and really knows the subject matter. it is a difficult class but you can be successful in it if you regularly go to his office hours for help and get a tutor for extra clarification and/or pratice with the material. He does want you to succeed. Great class to take.
very helpful teacher.
I took him for Anatomy and Physiology. These classes were by far the hardest classes I have ever taken in my life. I am glad they are over with, and I am proud to say I got a B in both. I went to all labs and lectures and taperecorded and read from the book. Just to let everyone know, we start with 100+ people and end up with only 35 left! Hard
Dr. Adamson is an excellent instructor, Physiology is the hard part. Take advantage of office hours and email to have questions answered. Dr. Adamson responds quickly, and does his best to clarify the material. Keep up on reading and get a white board
Dr.Adamson is fair and hard. If you don't read the material and don't pay attention in lecture your going to be lost. Physiology is a hard subject and he really tries to do his best in explaining things to you. He's very approachable and doesn't make yow feel stupid when you ask questions.
Dr. Adamson rocks. The class is killer, but he will really help if you try. Go to his ofice hours!!
hes an excellent teacher. Very helpful and nice. I learn a lot from him. Office hours help out too.
why grade on a curve, students can not handle making own grades?
HARDEST CLASS AT DELTA!!! sure he's nice, when he wants to be, but he tests you like you're pre-med. with all sincerity, this is hardest i have ever worked/studyed for a class (i dropped all my other classes just to have more time for this one) and still, i've never done worse. P.S. i'm not just an angry idiot, i got an "A" in both chem & anatomy
I would not recommend taking this class. Very few students pass. The top students can barely pass the exams with a C. He makes the exams almost impossible to pass. The class average on the exams was around 50%. I know in my case it was not from lack of studying. I studied on the average about 4 hours per day, sometimes more.
Great to learn from. Very knowlegable.
I'm a "B" student and after taking this class I think Chemistry is easy...he makes it almost impossible to pass this class...I study ALL the time for this class all day weekends, I was always in the library studying for hours during the week and I recorded his lectures & I just don't understand how come I can't pass his class.
he is very hard and is not easy on trying to explain things to students. he doesn't give you that much time on the quiz and sometime he will rush things
Dr. Adamson is under rated. He is an excellent teacher. Students mis understand him because he has a tough class to teach. The material for Physiology is not easy. He does expect a lot of his students but he is more than willing to help you. He is extremly smart and humble as well. I recommend him greatly.
Dr. Adamson is a great teacher!. I had to repeat anatomy but I passed his class the first time. Just don't drop out of his class. Everyone gets scared and drops and says bad things about him but they don't even know because they didnt actually stay in the class. Take it, study hard, record the lectures and ask for help if you need it! Great Class!!
first off, physiology is a hard topic. Dr. Adamson can teach. Hes a great professor. Study hard and use his office hours. He will help you out.
Dr. Adamson is a great teacher. I have a 2.8 and I passed his class. He will help you during his office hours and stay after class. His lectures are interesting and he tests on them. I suggest that you record his lectures.. it will help you out on his tests. he gets easier as the semester goes on.. trust me study and stick with it you will pass!!!
very hard.
too hard and put you down after each exams or quizzes. I wouldn't take him period!
I love adamson he tries to help you understand. I loved lecture it was easy to understand but lab is difficult he challenges you in there and you want to give up but dont. record lectures and study them, you can pass physio w/ him trust me
he can teach you a thing or 2 incredibly smart man.. take him and you will learn the subject
Dr Adamson is no slouch! He is the most professional teacher and the hardest I have ever had. That being said, if you are a slouch don't waste his time. One other thing! He says he doesnt grade on a curve but in the end he does. Guide line, if your getting a C you will get an A and so on. Medical students he will help separate you from the pack!
He is a good teacher but hard to understand and keep up with his lectures because his lectures are based on what he says. His tests are way to hard and so are the quizzes. If you take this class with him be ready to read and study out of the textbook 24/7. He teaches in a way like you know the material and you should understand it.
Study, study, study. Even though this was the hardest class that I have ever taken, I learned so much. He is a very nice man and spent a lot of time with me when I just couldn't grasp the material. Yes, it is hard, but it is supposed to be, and I appreciate his teaching style. If you want to learn, take him, if not, take the easy class.
This is the hardest class I ever took. After 2nd test, 75% of clss dropped and he was unwilling to work with the students when we went to talk to him. I dont whine but I am a straight A student and was failing his class!! Exam questions come from ???? Study but still was lost!!
Physiology as a subject is difficult, but Dr. Adamson is totally willing to help and explain. I would never recommend any other teacher at Delta, except Adamson!
He's a nice man, obviously very knowledgable in his field - BUT - he can't seem to teach at the level that most of his students need. His tests are gruesome!!! Consider -well over half of the class dropped - and of those that stayed several were taking the class for the second time. I made it through with a C first time, but it was a killer!!!!
Dr A is great. But you u gotta know some things beforehand. Its really hard but its pre-nursing, not pre-slacking. When they say he doesnt know how to teach at our level it means they aren't at the right level. I underestimated it too but Dr A made me do work & answer questions & I learned a lot. Stop whining. The class is supposed to make u think
Dr. Adamson is very helpful and very approachable. He's willing to help and answer questions. THis guy is way smart. Take him, but study! STUDY STUDY and STUDY some more.
Adamson is patient, understanding to the students, and very approachable. Guaranteed! Dont be scared to ask questions! He wont make u feel stupid or put you down ever. He strives to help anyway he can. Take him, u wont regret. Physio is no cake walk tho, its up to the student really to put the effort.i got a C but i learnd a great deal in his class
I LOVED HIM!!! the class is SUPER hard, but he is sooo helpful, and always willing to answer any questions. i use to a sheet of like 10 questions and he'ld answer EVERY one. tape the lectures, STUDY and get a white board..you'll pass...STICK WITH IT!!!
Adamson very hard. Physio is hard enough as it is, but his tests are 35 questions in 1 hour, if you miss one thats 3 points out the door. So much info to absorb, *suggest:taking physio somewhere else! Delta prof are difficult to get a good grade, even my counselor said. if you have to take him, be on top of it, failing rate is 1 out of 4 students!
This was the hardest class i had to ever take! Tests and quizzes are extremely hard! He'll help u if u ask but if u slack off u will fail. He mumbles a great deal in his lectures. He has the greatest drop rate compared to all of the physio teachers at delta and of the 13 that remained in his class last semester 4 still failed,1 A,about 2B's& 3 D's
This class is very hard. Tons of material to be learned. However, Adamson is a great teacher. He tries his best to get the point across from many different angles. Tape his lectures and listen to each one of them. You will find he doesn't test from the book at all. Exam questions are directly from lecture. Keep up with your studying and ask questio
This was the toughest class I've had. Very high drop rate. He tests exclusively from his lectures, but reading the book helps to explain whats been gone over. Don't even bother taping the lectures cause you won't go over them all. Very good teacher. It's a tough subject, and he does a much better job explaining it than most teachers could.
mr adamson is a great teacher. many students are quick to blame him. it takes hard work and committment. it doesn't matter how long you study; it's knowing how to study smart. tape his lectures, his tests are based on it.
Dr. Adamson is extremely helpful and encourages students to ASK questions. Lectures are extremely important to the tests as well as the required text assignments, just read what's required. Your grade is based on how much of the information you can retain. The problem with the class is not how hard the info is, but how much there is!
Dr. Adamson is the best phsyio teacher! Always stresses that YOU should ask questions if you don't understand. Extremely reasonable with his students. Know your lectures, not much use from the book, but it helps. Study regularly, b/c there's massive amounts of info. The content isnt hard, its the colossol amount of information you need to study!
Dr. A cares very much for his students and wants to see them succeed. He was very approachable and willing to answer questions. All his test questions were from his lecture, so it is VERY important that you record his lecture! Very tough class to pass, but it is mostly because the material is so hard to fully grasp. It is a lot of information!!
He makes his class so hard when it doesn't have to be that way. His tests are really complex and uses lots of critical thinking. If you want an easier class I wouldn't take him but he's a good teacher. University level kinda of teaching.
Adamson is a fantastic instructor. He definately helps prepare you for the nursing program. If you can't get through his class, you are going to have a very hard time getting through the nursing program. Utilize tutors and ask him questions! He is always happy to help clarify. I highly recommend him. Physiology is a hard subject, but I got so much
One of the best professors I've ever had and I'm no spring chicken.Very good at presenting the information in multiple ways if you don't understand. He requires immense critical thinking in class and on tests. He doesn't rely soley on the textbook, but it was useful for understanding w/more depth. His interest is on understanding and not memorization.
He got some new method, so theres no lecture. he calls them "workshops". He's very scattered brain. read the entire book before the class starts and you might understand what he's talking about
physio is not an easy class. Dr. Adamson tries his best to help you understand. he doesn't have lectures but has "workshops" instead. he is a very hands on type of teacher. his test are VERY difficult and you must be prepared to use EXTREME critical thinking to even try to get a passing grade.
Nice guy but extremely hard class. I studied my butt off and couldn't pass his tests. More than half the class fails tests. Class average around 48-52% Tests extremely difficult to understand. Please think twice before taking this teacher.
Do NOT Take!!! his new method is completely unclear and he doesn't know how to teach this class.he doesn't lecture what soever.he doesn't answer questions you have to find them yourself.Exams are so difficult.he doesn't review.the test are completely different from how it's explained inclass.lots of work.over 25+ hours of work outside of class
not a good teacher, his new method sucks so bad.when you ask a question he makes u feel stupid and still does not answer the question you asked.exam are very very difficult.no review before.lots of studing outside of class.oh he does not lecture at lot.you have to teach this class to yourself.avg grade on tests in my class was 54 points out of 120.
try another college!
be prepared to study! i've never studied so hard in my life and still failed every single test! turns out there are many others who are in the same boat. TEST ARE HARD and feel IMPOSSIBLE!
Dr Adamson's class is very demanding and his exams are very complex and is sometimes unclear what he is asking.overall i feel i learned a lot in this class and may have to take it again.in short Dr. Adamson is most definitely an acquired taste. if you want a easy A dont take his class.if you wanna learn something and be able to apply it take him.
Dropped from his class two weeks after the semester started. Very nice guy though, but his teaching style is way too different. I know this college-he taught at UC Davis- but c'mmon this is "Community College" not a "University". I ended up taking all my science classes at MJC. One thing I can say, the Professors are great. It's worth the drive.
I hate his style of teaching Okay he does not want us to memorize and dont worry about grades (his own words)then why do you give grades at all ?
Nice guy but tough. Knows his stuff but gets frustrated when you don't. Has very different teaching style. Does not spoon feed you the information, requires you to think outside of the box. Tests are hard; m/c w/some justification questions. He is willing to help you as long as you are willing to put in the time & effort. You must be dedicated!!
This class was by far extremly difficult. We worked in groups during workshops and if we had any questions that we didn't understand we would ask Dr Adamson and he would answer our questions with more questions. On the tests you had to fully understand what he is asking AND not just the steps but the entire process of a system.
I think he understands how important it is for students entering health fields to know how the body works. It's difficult but who determined that hard is bad and easy is good?
This class is demanding and is tough. But you will learn a lot. He encourages questions and is clear about answering. You have to put in the effort and you will understand. You will leave class with the understanding of how the systems work and not just memorized facts that you will forget in 2 weeks. Always preread for workshops!!
He stated he is not here to teach, I agree he does not teach. He expects to pull info. from us that he does not give us, impossible. I am an A student who got a D on the first exam. I was one of the lucky ones who actually passed. I dropped with a W. never again I'm going to MJC.
This class was very difficult and I spent most of my time dedicated to it and was constantly using the text and looking through the learning guide, but still had to withdraw. Very difficult class and I would not recommend taking him if you are planning on taking other courses along with it.
Hardest teacher and subject i have ever taken, but it's completely worth it. you learn so much because you take charge of your own learning. he expects you to be one step ahead always. i never did more than average on his tests. he curves the class. don't take this class with any other bio. he's a really nice guy, so don't give up!
passed but barely. hard class. take a different professor. it's not worth being confused everyday. at least other professors lecture. he works with these notebooks and so everyday is a class discussion about how the body processes work. The majority of the class was always lost
You can't avoid the difficulty of physiology, but Dr. Adamson at least gives you plenty of opportunities to understand the material. His class is interactive. There are no lectures, but instead he provides you with workbooks designed to take you through the material step by step. If you are a hands-on learner, he's a GREAT instructor. Loved it.
This teacher teaching so called new teaching method is extremely horrible and difficult to comprehend. I am currently taking this course and I found that it's hard and DEMAND STUDYING A LOT!! He doesn't lecture, instead he does workshops, which i found to be worthless. Class test average is 50%. Don't take this course and go to another school!!!!!
Class test average 48%, enough said. Really nice guy, but isn't very helpful. "Don't worry about grades" is his motto. He grades on a curve but it didn't help when 1 or 2 people set the bar much higher than the rest of the class. Class needs more structure than workshops, a class needs a teacher to teach them not the group work he expects.
Very difficult material and he teaches it well, but when it comes to testing, he makes the tests and quizes extremely difficult! He grades on a curve and the class average on tests are a 60/120 with a couple people getting a 90 as the high. I learned a lot even though I didn't pass, but thought his teaching was way too difficult.
in this class its important to study before and after class but the most important is REVIEWING especially after class. many test questions are found in the learning guide so make sure to read the paragraphs and KNOW its content. if there is any memorization in this class its memorizing the process of how things work. drawing things out help :)
it took me two tries to do this class.Dr.Adamson is a GREAT professor.he WANTS the student to learn. If YOU have no motivation, you're screwed. He's not one to give what you need to know, instead YOU find it.I learned his style&it really was about KNOWING,not memorizing&the ability of applying. If you fail, don't blame him, blame yourself.
many students blame his teaching, but really, they just don't want to put the time&effort.I promise you,LEARN how to study how he teaches you with his tools&study for 30 hours a week&you WILL get somewhere. It's a hard subject&it gets frustrating, but you have to be able to admit to yourself if you understand the subject or not
Dr. Adamson is very helpful & welcomes questions, however there's a lot of information given. There aren't study guides, just to know everything in the learning guides which is impossible. We're also required to make "predictions" on tests which feels like guessing. Just passing felt like an A. More than 1/2 of the class drops & graded on a curve
By far the best prof I've taken. Very knowledgeable and passionate about Physio. You have to want to learn to get out of something out of the class. Very helpful, but you need to be engage in the class and ask a lot of questions! He was a Mentor not a prof. Teaching style is the diff but works best. I got an A, but I work hard for it! He's the best
Do not take any of the physiology courses at SJDC! Complete course at a different college/university! All the BIO 33 professors at SJDC are not worth the fight!
This Prof. really cares about your learning & education. He will help you in any way he can for you to learn. You have to come to class and participation is a MUST. His workshops are amazing only if you are prepared and ready to have an intellectual conversation about the subject. He's expert in physio. His class is the best class I've ever had.
Difficult topic with a different teaching style. Dr Adamson does not lecture, instead you work in groups on problems/scenarios. You need to know how things work to pass his tests. Tests are very difficult but you learn a lot in his class. Don't miss any class sessions and don't fall behind are you will be lost. Everything is connected.
He is nice in the beginning but towards the first quiz his mood seems to conflict with grading and responses when asking him questions. Teach yourself... have a degree in biology.
In retrospect, the concepts are not difficult. Read, attempt the learning guide yourself, come up with questions before class and get to know those who understand concepts you can not. Make use of scenarios n practice those models! There is a lot of material so don't fall behind! Do well on the first 2 exams/ quizzes as they are easiest..good luck!
AMAZING professor! Very difficult, challenging class but so rewarding. We spent a lot of time in our study group every week & it payed off. He really cares about his students understanding the material. Really focus in class & ask questions when you have them. His learning guide is amazing, study it thoroughly and you'll do well. LOVED THIS CLASS!!
PHYSIOLOGY IS A HARD SUBJECT AND the style of teaching is hard. Tests usually have 30% of things not learned or mentioned little of. . NO lectures, just workshops, 3-4 Quizes, 3 Mid terms, 2 Finals (a week apart). Majority in class got D and F. He grades on curve but still only a hand full passsed.
Of course there were a maybe 5-6 who passed with A or B, but the rest barely got C, despite studying very hard, reading book, study groups, ect... many dropped early on, many stuck it out only to get a D and F.
Was very hard. Workshops style teaching. No lecturing. Hard tricky midterms but not intentionally done. Wording just very confusing most times. Quizzes midterms and a double Final. Written essay questions final and Multiple choice final. Both very hard. All exams including finals and all quizzes require critical thinking. Low pass rate!
OMG this class was super hard! He doesnt lecture at all! Because of this I was always lost. He doesnt really go over everything, but for some reason it ends up on the tests. Its overwhelming because it feels like theres a quiz or test every week and half. Wish there were better teachers at delta cause they all suck in physio.
Keep your head in the game, don't slack off. One day of missing class can make you lost. Study Study all the models and carefully review the concepts learned. You have a question ask him, ask him again, bug him lol. The Best teacher for physio don't pass on him.
Dr. Adamson is awesome. He is hard but he teaches you how to think for yourself and not how to memorize facts from a book. He won't help you if you don't want help. This class is not for people who want to show up and get an A. You have to earn it! Period.
Prof Adamson is very knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to Human Physiology. This is not a course to breeze through by memorizing facts. He prepares you on how it will be in the real world- using critical thinking skills and working in a cooperative group. Study/review the Learning Guide he uses!!!! I earned a B.
The best professor that I have had at Delta, but very challenging. Lots of complex material to cover, you just have to put in the time to learn it. The way that he teaches is great if you take advantage of it. He asks questions, and those that participate and answer seem to be the ones that atually grasp the concepts and do well on the exams.
STUDY. GET A STUDY GROUP. DONT BE SHY. 4 EXAMS. YOU GET TO DROP ONE.
I may have not studied right or it was not for me. I just dont know. but the exams are difficult. I could not apply what i learned in class to the exams
I recommend very much this class. Dr. Adamson is one of the best professors at Delta. However, this class is not easy, you have to put a lot of hours a week to study the book and the Learning Guide. It will be very helpful to do the recommend reading before going to class.
Want to try your hardest and get a B or C? He is your guy! Take him if your major is not nursing. His learning technique is compatible with few. If not compatible with you, you will not get an A. You are better off taking this class at state. I have never hated a class more.
very good teacher. ask him questions and he will help you. you should review everything everyday for at least 2 hours a day. when the tests come allow at least 3 to 4 days to study. grades are on a curve!
Tough but really awesome professor. Took over the summer & definitely rigorous. If you are the kind of student that doesn't ever ask questions b/c you're nervous, get over it....fast. "BUG" HIM WITH QUESTIONS OR YOU'LL STRUGGLE! He is very patient. Not a memorizing class...must thoroughly MAKE SENSE of concepts! LEARNING GUIDE =BESTFRIEND. Talk!!!
Only some students will really grasp Dr Adamson's style of teaching. He really tries to get you to understand but he's just a very "think outside of the box" type of teacher. Ended up with a very sad W.
great teacher but do NOT take him if you're expecting an A. you need to really understand the learning guide and relate questions on the test to the learning guide. if you want a good grade, review after EVERY lecture and simplify things to your own understanding. i wish you luck.
Considering that the class is hard all in its own I think Mr. Adamson does a great job with teaching the subject. I really enjoyed his method of teaching, it's definitely different but if you can get a grasp of it it really helps you to get a good understanding of everything. Just be sure to do what he recommends in the beginning of the semester
Difficult class overall, regardless of the professor. About 90-100 students start the semester, more than half will drop, and probably 20 will pass the class. This class is a challenge Mr. Adamson is a great professor and you will learn a lot but it takes a lot of time and dedication.
Took this class over the summer, 5 hours M-TH. Used the textbook only when we had to go over the cardio section. His way of teaching is VERY different from other teachers. He basically uses real life examples to teach the real content. You will NEED to study. No hw and no quizzes for summer session. Best teacher I have taken at Delta. WorkHARD
Best teacher I have ever had who really knows how to teach his students. He teaches the person how to learn effectively. In this class, you will learn more about how to effectively study and learn about your own particular learning strategy in the first week. The class is not a walk in the park as it requires effort, but he is there to help.
Not an easy class. you need to read although the test won't be based on it at all, but it will help somewhat. the test are really hard
Best teacher I've ever had. Really taught the students to become better thinkers. Would really recommend this class if you are serious about learning. Do not take if you want an easy "A". He was always there to answer questions.
He curves the grade, he doesn't lecture, he lets you figure things out on your own. Has 4 quizzes, 20pts each. Class average is 5 or 6 in those quizzes. 3 Midterms, you get to drop the lowest one. Finals is 250pts, 100 is written and 150pts has 75 questions and they're multiple choice. You need at least 230pts to get a C. His exams are very hard!
This class is tough and his teaching method is not for everybody. He doesn't believe in lectures, he holds workshops where he gives u problems to figure out amongst yourselves. If you ask him question he will answer you with a question. His exams are hard, class average on a quiz is 2 or 520. U cant just memorize, you really need to know ur stuff!
Do not take this class if you are not comfortable with a C cause that's pretty much the class average of those who pass this class. His exams and quizzes are extremely hard, tests are cumulative, and he makes you justify your answers. Get ready to read charts and graphs, memorize formulas. You need to be good in critical thinking, no memorization.
I took this class more than ones and he failed me in every occasion. I studied more than 3hrs a day, attended tutoring, read the books and studied the Learning Guide manual he gives his students. I even used all previous exams to practice but he never repeats his exams or questions and he normally gives two sets of exams. His test are really hard!!
This is the hardest class i ever took at Delta! He does not lecture at all, he gives his students his handbook he calls the Learning Guide and you pretty much need to make that your Bible. People who do good in his class barely spent time reading the book or the coloring book. Study the Learning Guide and attend tutoring and SI!
Take Micro first before you take this class. Adamson expects you to have a strong Bio background and he will touch subjects in Anatomy and Micro but will not explain it cause he expects his students to know them already. Don't waste your time buying the Coloring book, you might as well get the main book cause he uses some of the pictures there.
Dr. Adamson's physio class is CRAZY! I took it summer 2015 & it kicked my ass. I passed with a C & while suffering and stressing over this class, I have learned a lot about the functions & processes & highly recommend him. Dont be scared to ask questions, DO NOT try to memorize the processes, & always read (book & learning guide) & go to SI.
Dr. Adamson is honestly one of the best professors Delta has. The toughest class I have ever take but he prepares you for a career in the medical field. The grade you recieve in his class, is the grade you EARNED. If you're going into the medical field, you must know your stuff because peoples lives will depend on you. LEARN don't just PASS. (:
His teaching style is not everyone. I ended up dropping bc I couldn't comprehend. He's there to answer questions, but I just couldn't grasp his teaching. You basically have to teach yourself.
Hardest class I have ever taken. Professor Adamson is such an amazing teacher of physiology though. He may seem intimidating at first but he is actually a very sweet man. At first I didn't do so well on my tests but I changed my studying habits and received a B. My advice, don't even spend your time on the book. Study his learning guide and record.
Despite everything you may hear about Professor Adamson, he is the only one that will truly prepare you for a career in the medical field. He basically gives you everything you need to know, you just have to put things together and understand the material. People who want an easy A are a joke, things aren't easy and you should have to work for it.
This man is truly reflects what a good professor is. I took his class 3 times before receiving a C, but I never gave up on him because he never gave up on me. He was always there to answer anything I needed. He always encouraged me to never give up on myself. His course is incredibly rewarding and I encourage you all to give him a chance.
Professor Adamson is amazing! Many students are so caught up with getting an A or a B, but do you truly learn the subject? Adamson is tough, but he makes sure you're ready for much harder things coming your way in the medical field. Don't worry so much on a grade but put in the effort to actually learn and your grade will ultimately reflect that.
Adamson is an amazing teacher; he is very passionate about physiology. He provides great helps during office hours; if you need one on one attention, this would be a great opportunity to ask for help. His grading methods are very fair, although the tests are very hard. I would recommend taking Adamson because he challenged to think critically.
Dr. Adamson is a great professor. He encourages class participation which makes the class enjoyable. Just make sure you do all the reading before class to really understand the materials for each class meeting.2
Don't take this class with him if u r going to special program coz he will ruin ur GPA. Tests r tough ,condensed and wordy. U can't get the meaning of questions unless reading them over and over. He assume that we know everything for this class and make u work for new stuff every day even if u don't caught up on the previous one. Hectic class !
Dr. Adamson is a nice man but a bad professor. He thinks that his students level of understanding is about the same as his. He speaks a high profile English but very low voice that one can't even hear him, that is one reason you can miss on a lot of important information. Tests are very hard, requiring A LOT of critical thinking. Try to avoid him.
Physiology is a difficult subject and too many students expect to pass without putting in the time and effort. Adamson isn't an easy professor but he tries his best to make the material interesting and understandable. He also sets a fair standard, and expects you to meet that standard. Advice: study at least 1 hour everyday and record lectures.
Definitely not an easy class but he's the best one to teach you this subject. Most students expect an easy A but he makes you work for it. At the end of the semester, this is the only class that will actually help you learn a thing or two for your perspective careers in the medical field
Fantastic professor, incredibly smart and refreshingly humble. Don't believe what people say, the class isn't impossible if you're willing to put in a decent amount of work and time. ALWAYS make sure you know what's going on. Use your resources (SI & tutoring) and never be afraid to ask Dr. Adamson questions. Participate and you'll enjoy the class.
Difficult doesn't begin to describe this class. I studied between 6-10 hours every day. This class was like boot camp, but I can honestly say that it paid off in the end because now I KNOW physiology. If you are a serious student, take Dr. Adamson's class. It will be frustrating and you will not have much of a life outside of class, but its doable.
Dr. Adamson is a excellent professor. He taught us to improve critical thinking that we need to have to be successful. I have learned a lot from his class. It was challenging me to get to a higher level. Study hard and feel free to ask him question whenever you need. He is very nice and respectful. All your hard work will be payoff.
This was by far the toughest class I've ever been in, but Adamson is great! Even though I ended up with a C I worked hard for it, and Actually learned. His learning style makes you understand all the concepts. My goal is to get into a nursing program, and I feel this class has better prepared me for that. My critical thinking skills have improved!
Dr. Adamson does an exceptional job at helping students develop critical thinking. If you have not learned to balance school and real life, then you are not ready to take this class. This course requires commitment and confidence in your ability to know the material. Exam questions are meant to challenge everyone, dont if you fail at first.
One of the greatest professors I have taken. ever! very approachable, helps students who want to learn and want to be there, and extremely helpful. 10/10
I agree with other students that Adamson is approachable and helpful, but once you get behind, you are screwed. You need to take matters into your own hands and ask the right questions because his tests are the most difficult tests I've taken. It requires you to critically think. It is really rare to get an A and is very difficult to get a B or C.
This class was the hardest class I've ever taken. At first, I was just aiming to get an A but then in the long run, Professor Adamson will make you realize that your main goal should be to learn. I'm a straight A student and this is my first ever B+. However, I learned A LOT in this class and it is a great help in studying for the TEAS.
I don't know how this professor gets so many good reviews. He is clear in stating how to study for the class but that honestly doesn't even help. Not very encouraging either because of low test scores he thinks we do not try. This class is no joke, takes a special person to pass this class with a good grade. Tests hard, quizzes aren't bad.
Dr. Adamson knows how the medical field is going to be as it is not all textbook memorization, but rather critical thinking and logical skills. This class is hard, but it will lay the foundation down for these skills and make the future easier. He is always there if you need help; ask him anytime. Go to MJC if you want the easy/quitters route.
Dr. Adamson is by far the toughest professor I have ever had. He definitely makes you work for your grade. Be prepared to critically think, memorization based study will NOT get you far. On the upside, you will learn a lot of great info to further you in your respective career. Learning guide is bible, review material same day, and ASK QUESTIONS!
Professor Adamson is hands down the best professor at Delta. He is extremely humble and respects everyone in the class. Do not get me wrong this class is probably the hardest classes you can take. All you have to do is dedicate your life to the class and DO NOT quit what-so-ever. You will be so happy you took this class with Professor A. Work hard.
Easy .
No need to memorize, just listen, PARTICIPATE, TRY, THINK & UNDERSTAND. Record workshops just in case you didn't comprehend. Learn to change your study habits, don't keep doing the same thing if there's no fruition! DON'T read your bulky notes, instead convert them into mind and concept maps when reviewing material everyday. Not impossible to pass
This course is truly the most difficult course I have ever taken -- and I already have my bachelors degree. It is not Professor Adamson's fault; it is the nature of the subject. Having said that, you will need to UNDERSTAND the concept. Memorization will NOT be sufficient. When finished you will understand physio like no other student.
Real-world teaching style. No memorization, no ppts, no homework. Just participate and pay attention in class! A 42% is a C and a 70% is an A, but your grade is based on 3 20-point free response quizzes, 3 99-point MC tests, 1 written final, and 1 MC final. Only 607 pts available. I would've passed if I took the MC final, but I got the date wrong.
This is a critical science class, & the instructor takes advantage of that. I have 2 degrees and hold a 3.8 GPA, this the 1st class that I didn't pass. His wording when it comes to the exams are out of this world, and it seem like he does it on purpose. If your trying to get a good grade to make it to the program stay away from this guy.
Out of this world hard professor, but walked out of the class a better student for it.
physio is not an easy class but he doesn't make it any better. if u have a question, he won't answer it, he'll answer with another question to get u "thinking better". no homework, 1 project, & his tests are HARD. quizzes are based off what he goes over in lecture but he doesn't even lecture about physio! just activities that are supposed "to help"
physio is a hard class and this professor was not my favorite. Your grade is based on 7 assessments, 5 discussions, a group project, and a final. He speaks in riddles and the wording of questions is super confusing. The best advice I can give is to attend office hours, tutoring, and SI if you can. Also, make sure you and your group COMMUNICATE!
Tough class! Tests are too hard. Its hard to get an A in the course as long you study hard but I dropped his class last semester because how tough this professor is. Dont take this professor.
Literally one of the worst classes Ive ever taken. Professor is not direct with answers and not enough material given. Physiology is hard enough as a subject, but this professor doesnt make it any easier. Class average for the first exam was an F, thats when I knew I needed to withdraw from the course.
Worst professor for physiology! I dont know why there are good reviews but his exams are extremely hard and its one of the toughest professor Ive taken. Do yourself a favor do not take him or take physiology in other school!
never take a class by this professor. i have never seen a teacher care so little for his students success. the average test grades were around 40%, the highest grade around low 60%. final average was 82/200. after every test he sends announcement explaining why you should have gotten every question right. beware of discussions. must submit day 1
Do not recommend, was not very helpful when help was needed. Feedback was rather vague.
The worst class I've ever enrolled in. The first exam avg was 33% so I knew there was no way I would be able to pass the class. He answers your questions with questions and there aren't a lot of resources or study material given (even the SI was confused) Physio is already a tough class but this class is nearly impossible to get a good grade in.
Most challenging and stressful learning experience that brought me to develop my thought process. There was so much to learn and the way Professor Adamson formatted his learning environment created a space to challenge yourself. I feel like if I was able to get through learning in his class, I can learn anything. This class is not for the weak.
