He's a pretty cool guy.. this is his first semester here so he's still new.. we were like his test class.. I cant stand poli sci, but I did enjoy his lectures.. he's quite interesting.. take him

Mr. Bundenthal is an intelligent but highly opionated invidual. He bases his opinions on you guessed it constitutional law so if you lack a basis for your arguement you may be dragged into the ground. Be prepared and don't wear your heart on your sleeve. It's the real world people so work hard and you will love this class!!!

He really gets you to engage your mind and look at things in a different way. He is opinionated, but he knows his facts. He has lived or visited most of the places you will talk about. He does not give homework. He does not expect you to be at every class either. As long as you participate in class you will get a good grade. Take it!

This professor is one of the best I've ever had. He wants more from his students than other teachers in terms of thinking about things, arguing your points and grasping the information. Hardly any homework, tests are simple enough and papers are graded fairly. Very cool guy!

Bundenthal is a great teacher. He makes his classes interesting and fun, especially during mock congress. Although his tests were difficult, he said that the grade he will give us is not solely based on the tests. Furthermore, he give opportunity for extra credit. If you take him, you will receive a B or Better, per Bundenthal.

Bundenthal is awesome! He really encourages involvement in the class. He's approachable and has a great sense of humor in his lectures. He makes class enjoyable and if you're not completely vacant, you can EASILY get an A or B. Take him!!!

Great professor. He knows what he's talking about and he's good at relating it to your life. He makes you think and learn about stuff that really matters. Tests are hard, but don't count for much of the grade. The final project is a big deal and he's cool with giving extra credit.

Awesome teacher. Makes lots of jokes, is EXTREMELY sarcastic and facetious. If you are overly sensitive on such topics of race, you may not want this class. I thought he was hilarious. Assignments are easy. Gives extra time on HW. Tests are not so easy though. TAKE NOTES AND STUDY! Also print out the online quizzes (which are easy)to study from.

I enjoyed his class and I do not like Political Science all. Participate and study the power point presentation for the test and you will do fine. Quizes are open book so it is super easy. I used ichapters.com to buy the chapters out of the book. It saved me alot of money.

Pretty cool guy. I wasn't sure at first if I was going to be into Political Science, but it ended up being really interesting. There are a lot of class discussions and a lot of tangents. It's a fun class.

I took the class online. 25pt quizzes(can use textbook) and seminar posts on a weekly basis. Midterm and Final may be a bit tougher. Bill/Abstract project was fairly easy when done with a group vs. face-to-face class where the project is done individually. Online has been easy, but if you really want to learn something take face-to-face.

Great teacher, good sense of humor. Polsc became interesting to me. I have alot of respect for him and his teaching and his additional efforts to SCC.

he is a gr8 teacher.. i really hate politics and still hate it but guess wat?? i got an A in his class.. he is so easy and his tests are not hard they are almost from the online quizes so study them and you will be fine but the class needs alot of reading but still he is a pretty cool guy i highly recommend him =]

I took him for POLSCI 1 and really enjoyed his class. There were a lot of good discussions that made me interested even though I had a low interest level at first. He says most come out of his classes with an A or B even if you don't do well on the tests. Sometimes he does skip over in lectures though everything is online.

GREAT TEACHER! I took his Pol.Sc.1 online & it was one of the easiest classes I've taken. He's leniant when it comes to late work & the quizzes where easy, everything is based on the book. Lectures are easy. The midterm & final was sort of easy but it's all in the book and powerpoint slides. Very organized, easy to get a hold of, WonDERfUL TEACHER!

I guess he is fine. I took the online class and he wasn't very present, so who knows. It could have been interesting if there was more student and instructor participation. The MT and final are mostly off the powerpoint slides, quizzes are out of the book.

This guy put me to sleep every morning. If you do the assignments you will be guaranteed an A. There is no homework, only easy quizzes you take online. Lectures are extremely boring. You can get an F on the test and he will still give you and A. The guy doesn?t care about teaching he just wants people to talk and interact with him.

Good teacher. Knows what he is talking about. Has liberal views but will listen to yours if you can back them up (he will make you look stupid if you don't know your stuff), be prepared for a good debate though. For an "A" show up pretty much every day and interact in class. DO THE PROJECT!!! All he really wants is to see that you learned something

Very nice and knowledgeable teacher! You can tell he really likes what he does. This class is SO EASY! You show up, take notes, and do the online quizzes. He is very friendly too, but if you try and debate with him, you better know your stuff because he knows both sides to every issue and will keep you on your toes. :)

I took this class online. All we had to do were do the discussion boards, take quizzes for each chapter, and work on this mock congress project. The midterm and final are really hard even though they're open book like the test. He needs to give us more time for those and he grades stuff too late.

Great teacher. He was passionate about the topic and encouraged everyone to give an opinion. He was sarcastic, but not in a bad way. Textbooks are mandatory for online quizzes and it was used in the final. I wasn't interesed in polisci, but I thoroughly enjoyed the class.

He is a great teacher! He's informative, and willing to discuss topics with you in class or out of class. He doesnt expect you to be an expert at the material. If you demonstrate that you understand it and attempt to articulate it, he will give you an honest grade.

Quite possibly the best Polsci prof Solano has to offer. Took him for polsc1 and 5 and now interested as well as understanding of all political matters. On top of that earned work deserving grades. You'd do yourself a favor taking him.

Great teacher that might seem quite liberal, but in reality just giving out facts. Although he is quite liberal, he talks with you in class to make sure that you get the gist of how the government works. Be really interested and ask in-depth questions and he'll pass you despite of your test scores. I'm sure of it.

This class was harder then I thought when read the other comments. I especially didn't like that we had an group project online. It was very difficult to work together online more it is in the classroom. Other then that it was ok class.

Proffesor B. made his class very enjoyable by the way he presented the material and how he prompted us to participate.

Dr. Bundenthal is a brilliant professor. I took his course for fun even though I finished SFU and I absolutely loved it! It's an inspiration to those who are indecisive about majoring in pre-law. He'll instill anticipation in you and force you to want to learn more and be a participant. If you're careless, it's not for you. Overall a WONDERFUL time

The lectures were entertaining as well as informative. Some people are confusing the word "liberal" with "critical". The workload is pretty light, I finished in the reading, ppt, bill/abstract in about 5 or 6 afternoons. If anything is unclear just stop by his office very helpful, nice guy. Many test questions are the exact same quiz questions.

There is ONLY ONE thing I did not enjoy about Bundenthal: he OCCASIONALLY preaches the gospel according to Bundenthal instead of remaining neutral on things. However, he has the ability to see the larger picture, make you question your stance and then lead you to a conclusion you may never have considered before. Very good teacher and class!!

Mr. B gets the whole class involved & interested about Poli Sci. Does go off topic sometimes, but the discussions are interesting. Speak up in class & participate... take advantage of EC. You'll do good on the open book quizzes if you scan the chapter first, then use it while your taking the quiz. Does seem to lean to to left a bit. good teacher

Online class requires a lot of time and commitment to get an A. It's not necessarily difficult, its just a lot of work. 1-2 quizzes per week, 1 midterm and final, several group discussions/essay seminars, and a big mock congress project. He grades fair but expects you to be thorough and knowledgeable.

Extremely helpful if you're willing to go to his office hours, especially likes questions. You do one large presentation, and other than that everything should be able to coast. Periodical 2 page essays are easy since they're on the book. Lectures are a little dry, but other than that he is factual.

Thomas Bundenthal is an excellent professor, ready and willing to teach his students and help transmit critical ideas. His dry humor and witty sarcasm helps keep the tone light, even while talking about depressing issues such as genocide or earth's ecological crises. If you want a decent grade, show up to class, pay attention, and participate!

Extremely helpful teacher. Took his online class and loved it. The exams and quizzes come straight from the textbook. You have sit down and commit the time to use the text book to get a good score on the quizzes exams the answers are all there. He offers a lot of extra credit for participating and discussing. He has alot of stories, usually relating to the class, very in-depth, loves politics, has a book you never use except for online quizzes, i don't suggest taking him if you aren't prepared for alot of work. All around great political scientist and idealist though, someone you'd rather know as a colleague than a prof though.

I took this class online. He is very organize and the test and quizes are easy. There is alot of work but it is manageable. You have a report and power point project you must do. And there seminars which you have to give your opinion about. Easy class would take him again. highly recommend

Took this class online and he is great. 20 question quiz on each chapter, as well as power point presentations to review and seminars to respond to. He expects seminars to be essay-like and include references and substance for a good grade. The quizzes are based off of the book and the midterm/final is more based of the powerpoints. He gives rubics/examples for assignments, including a mock congress assignment. Offers extra credit at the end and will bump you up a grade (within reason).

im horrible with politics, hate sharing opinions, and he intimidated me at first cuz he feels if you don't speak up/participate-dont expect an A.Did all the work, answered as many questions as possible & studied for tests. Got an A. Tests are hard, but he'll help u if u help yourself.He will round your grade up if he knows you and knows you tried.

Wow. The first day of school he stated it's his hardest class & he'll teach it like law school. Focuses heavily on the constitution, writing, laws & cases & presenting them. Tests & final are take home but are more than you think.

Professor Bundenthal is an outstanding teacher. He will give you a chance to improve your grade. I remember struggling in the beginning of IR1, but he gave me the chance to prove myself by doing extra credit projects and papers. You put in the work and he will reward you for it. Very helpful and understands the subject well.

Very knowledgeable teacher that made me interested in becoming more involved in politics- having known nothing at all. Take notes! He goes over slides and points out what will be on the tests. Lots of study aids available online as well as guidelines for research paper. Warm personality. Weekly tests for homework.

Professor B is awesome. this course requires a lot of reading, but it is amazing stuff. Prof B talks about some pretty intense subject matter but he makes it easy to understand and relate to the material. You would learn a lot if you took this course. he is also really funny and just plain cool. he gives you plenty of opportunity for xtra crdit :)

This was an amazing class. Professor Bundenthal always offers interesting lectures and draws from outside sources making the learning process more wholesome. There will be a lot of reading in this class and he always prefers quality over quantity. Ask questions because he will help you. All in all it was an amazing class taught by an amazing prof.

His class is easy but he teaches out of the textbook.

He is my favorite teacher by far. This is a professor who actually has passion in his teachings.. He helps you understand what the world truly is. You won't think the same after taking his class. This is a hybrid class. Everything is online besides lecture and tests. There is a fair amount of work, but if you are aware of it and pace yourself you should be fine. Tends to go off topic when questions are asked which has put the entire class behind. If you attend and at least make an effort, you will pass.

Very interesting and very open minded. If you need to take Political Science, take Bundenthal. He grades you fairly and is a good person in general.

Bundenthal is FANTASTIC! Especially if you enjoy political science. He's friendly, funny, fair, clear, and one of the most helpful professors I've ever had. I believe that every techer should be like Bundenthal. He is everything a teacher should be. He's passoniate about the subject, not very boring, has a good sense of humor, and best of all he wants his students to suceed. He's not out to get you, he only wants to help. He always tries to meet you half way and if you make effort you'll pass.

Outstanding teacher. If you do want he asks and give quality discussion answers you should have no problem in this class. I knew nothing and had no interest in PoliSci. I would definitely take his classes again in the future.

This is a great professor and a moderately easy class. I had no problems with Mypolisci Lab and instructure(online). All you are requested to do is give out a good discussion and responses to other students. And put effort into the lab work Extremely Fair! Would take him again in a heart beat.

I find this professor to be an excellent educator and loves to help his students who are willing take the time to learn and participate in his lectures. The class can be demanding at times if miss class and don't complete your assignments. Great learning experience and would recommend his class.

I recommend taking Bundenthal. Lectures are understandable tests are a little difficult but hes a fair grader. Just make sure to do responses and final project and you will get a automatic B

I wasn't super thrilled about this class, but it became enjoyable once the semester started and soon he was by far one of my favorite teachers. As long as you pay attention in class and glance through the book you'll be grand. He isn't a super tough grader and wants to see his students succeed, you just have to do the work.

I took the online class and I felt that Bundenthal was very responsive and thats important for an online class. MyPoliSciLab made the class a bit more difficult than I was expecting. I failed the midterm but turning in everything, doing good discussions and a research paper helped me pass with an A. Plus he curbs. It's a Time Consuming class.

I was a little worried about taking this class online, being that I know absolutely NOTHING about Politics. This class ended up being very interesting and taught me way more than I expected to learn. Professor Bundenthal was very helpful when I needed it! Would take again!

He is funny, and engaging in class. 70% of the class time is him starting discussions in the class. When there is a power point, it's filled with words. Weekly quizzes, and semi regular 500 word papers. 3500 paper at the end.

Great teacher, he is very interested and passionate about his subject. He does use some politically incorreCT humor so if that offends you I wouldon't take him. Additionally participation in class REALLY matters so if you are shy he might not be the best. He is super helpful though and his tests are pretty easy if you have been paying attention.

Took PLSC001 online over the summer. There is ALOT of writing, but if you do the assignments you will succeed. He gives great feedback and truly wants students to do well. I would recommend this professor.

This class consists of weekly quizzes (14 total, 25 questions, easily achievable and can be done all at once if you want), four 100 point discussions (on War, Environment, Socioeconomic Analysis and Exceptionalism/Social Contract. Each discussion has a lengthy read to it and you MUST respond to other classmates for credit. One HUGE paper, Proposal.

I would take this class again for fun. Tons of content. He keeps it really interesting. Sometimes he puts students who don't participate on the spot. Stay engaged and you should be fine.

Loved this teacher. Loves participation and gives very good feedback. Will make fun of you. Turn in everything online, rarely actually takes roll, won't remind you about the regular quizzes but will remind you on the big projects. YOU CAN TURN IN STUFF LATE.

The professsor did discussions for this class which helped establish a sense of being in a class even in an online environment. There is a lot of reading. I generally found good criticism from his feedback and found it easy to see what his values were. I would take this professor again.

He is very knowledgeable and engaging. He was good at giving the class the historical context for the topics we were discussing. I learned a ton in this class. The final paper was intimidating, but he gave us the tools to do it well. I would absolutely take more classes from him.

Awesome teacher. His lectures were funny and interesting and made you want to come to class. He wants his class to participate in the class discussions. Not too many assignments and only 1 big project. Take his class if you are interested in political science or if you just need the credits but don't want to be bored to death. highly recommend!

He is absolutely amazing! His class seems intimidating but DO NOT DROP IT!!! You have to try really hard to fail his class. There are quizzes every week but they are online and he is very flexible when it comes to work. If you show him you are making an effort that will take you a long way through his classes, especially when finals come.

This class was great, especially online. He has very clear criteria of what he wants from his students in his assignments, including templates. As long as you take your time and go through what he wants from each assignment, you will do fine!

Professor Bundenthal is a mixed bag. His class set up was a little hard to get used to but he lays out all of his assignments in detail so its very easy to know what to expect. He also provided samples, clear rubrics, and structures for the papers/Discussions. All in all he was a good instructor and the class was easy to understand.

Mr. Bundenthal seemed quite intimidating at first since he plays devils advocate but I found that this made my me a better thinker. He is funny and will go out of his way to accommodate you if you give him enough warning. He will usually take late work (by a couple of days only) and knocks off very little points if you did a good job. Participate!!

Fun, chill back professor. Speaks freely and wants his students to speak out. Not strict on attendance, but does give great and funny lectures you do not want to skip out on.

Bundenthal is the best choice for PLSC at solano. He has the best discussions, and is so clear on what you are going to be graded on. He is a little intimidating at first but don't let that scare you. Take his class if you want to pass and learn.

Took his class online. Bundenthal is clear about what he is expecting on the class reports, he gives out a whole template just make sure to follow. He is somewhat a slow grader but easy to reach out.

Probably my favorite professor at Solano. He is passionate about what he teaches which makes class easier and more enjoyable. Quizzes online ever week, and only 3 tests including final. Several papers throughout, and a final research paper. You will need to pay attention to lectures, not just your book.

Bundenthal is awesome, you can miss class and still pass, however a decent portion of information is from the lectures. He does give you a third of the questions online days before the test so you have no excuse getting a third of the test right. He's a simple professor, don't complicate things. Don't be sensitive, this can be controversial.

Took class online. Syllabus/Course Outlines seem intimidating but actually not that difficult if you follow directions. Literature Reviews are easy to write as he shows how they're supposed to be structured and written. Proposal paper is easy as long as you get a head start. Read the textbook and you'll do fine on quizzes, midterm and final.

I had him for 2 semesters(for pol 003 and pol 005). At first I didnt like him. Im a very shy person and I found him very intense. But I started talking to him after class and told him about things I was going though(my major anxiety/mental health and pending court issues). Hes very understanding and really helped me out. Great professor.

Lit reviews, use his template verbatim. Write in neutral tone w quotes & facts directly from articles to support your thesis. Policy paper, start early. Online assignments can be confusing bc not in order by due date. Open book exams & quizzes so use textbook index to find answers. Hes a good option for this GE class but lots of writing and tests

He is harsh when it comes to grading papers. The tests are difficult. If you follow the directions on the papers, and study for the tests, you will pass. I would suggest writing upwards of 1200 words for each paper.

Scary at first, but he grows on you throughout the semester. Very understanding of people's situations as we transitioned online. He's clear abt what he expects on each assignment and gives out templates. PLSC 5 had case briefs, 2 tests abt supreme court cases (in spring, these were dropped due to covid), & midterm + final which are lengthy papers.

An amazing teacher goes above and beyond for his students.

He definitely expects a lot from his students. He only gives a few assignments, but he makes you work for the A. Definitely can be off putting. The first lecture we had he said the majority or none of us would end with A's in the class. He knows what he's doing, but can be condescending, difficult, and lectures are very boring.

The papers were hard and required a lot of reading and comprehensive understanding of the topics to write a good paper. I hate reading so I hated that part of his class. I find the topics were boring but that's just me. He leaves good feedback on your work and his grading makes sense. The lectures were boring but it felt good finishing the papers.

He's very relaxed and sympathetic. He cares about the subjects, but he can still have some fun in class. He's pretty responsive to emails and gives good feedback.

I found that he put the most effort and care into his classes out of all the other political science teachers I had (and all teachers in general tbh). He is very critical and will not let sub-par writing fly. Will allow you to improve assignments after initially turning them in and use his feedback when doing so. Worth to take if pre law/poli sci

The main part of the course was reading the chapter and taking the quiz for it. A lot of the quiz questions end up on the exams. There is a big final paper due at the end of the course. He tells you about it right when the course starts and lets you turn in your draft for him to review before you officially turn it in. Really direct with feedback

He is a pretty good teacher and his assignments are few and far between. The low amount of assignments is supplemented by the size of them, so you have plenty of time to work, but make sure you don't procrastinate. Also pretty sure he didn't grade our final lol.

I don't know if it was because I took a summer session so that made him more lenient but I did not have any issues. He repeatedly offered extensions on work. There were many quizzes but they were simple enough if you read from the book. The literature reviews were tedious but not unbearable and I actually found the final proposal paper fun.

I enjoyed this class and learned a lot. Plenty of work but assignments are all relevant and helpful, and he offers extra credit. Lots of brief essays with a few longer ones. Note that he is extremely opinionated and very forward about it, but the subject matter doesn't seem biased. Just be on guard for it and you'll be fine. Very informative class.

He was alright. Not the best, not the worst. Pretty good at teaching but his assignments man, they were confusing. Would ask for something but then not explain how to do it. Quizzes every week based off the book. One big proposal paper which was kinda fun to do.

Great professor and class! Professor Bundenthal is really understanding & he provides feedback for our work. If you wanted any other help, the prof responds to your email pretty fast and is really helpful. Quite a few lectures, but they were interesting. Quizzes & tests are doable if you watch the lectures & read the text. Overall, great class :)!

Had 2 LIT Review essays, lots of quizzes (1-2 a week), 1 midterm, 1 final (11 page proposal) The essays felt overwhelming because they required a lot of writing for a short amount of time b/c of summer. He doesn't grade too hard, but will critique you harshly for assignments. Breaks up the proposal into smaller assignments throughout the course.

Overall he's pretty good. He has very detailed rubrics and expectations for assignments, but if you follow them you will get an A. He's pretty understanding and laid back in class. His lectures have way too much info though. He's very knowledgeable about politics and you can ask him questions about almost everything in that field.

During lectures he is funny, nice and very knowledgeable in what he is teaching. Workload throughout the week is easy as it is usually around 1-2 quizzes a week. I will say I am not a fan of the 11 page paper due early December, then having a final the next week. I would take his class again though, because he knows what he is talking about.

Best professor I have ever had, I earned the term prize. I won a Congressional internship off his letter of recommendation and the strength of my application over all.

Beware of the long paper at the end of the semester, DO NOT PROCRASTINATE. Very typical PoliSci teacher, opinionated, succinct, and occasionally harsh. There is occasionally a lot of reading. If you read the textbook though, guaranteed a B or higher as every quiz question is pulled from it. Quizzes/ Exams are long though, but it was OK.

If you want everything easy,taking too many courses,and complain a lot this class will be hard.There are three major assignments(2 literature reviews)and an(11-page minimum proposal)they are spread out to an appropriate time frame.Professor is meticulous,a great professor.If"GPA is life"before you have a mental break down talk to the professor.

I enjoyed this class, but I also enjoy writing a lot. The feedback was not overwhelming positive in the beginning, but was not seriously negative or discouraging in any way, I think it comes from a good place and I got better feedback later on. If you do have trouble with the instructions, the example work is quite helpful

This class has a heavy writing load, with weekly quizzes, two literature reviews, and a research proposal. While the grading can be tough, the textbook and example work are helpful. Unstuck Study AI was a useful tool for preparing. Overall, a challenging but manageable course.

this may be a hot take but he was a very good professor. his grading criteria was always very clear, and i'm willing to bet that those who are saying it wasn't just don't follow instructions. also, him being super left leaning it not an issue. i wrote my proposal paper on more of a right issue and got full credit- just use GOOD evidence lol.

Dropped for work load, took him before and will be taking him again. His reviews are extremely biased toward your political opinion, so if you agree with him, then you will have no problem. If you have a different opinion, use evidence to support your opinion. Great person. Helpful and insightful.

Professor Budenthal is the most understanding professor when it comes to late work. He was really patient and understanding. His writing assignments, specifically his literature reviews and research paper, are heavy though and tough if you're not a writer lots of critical thinking. However, you just have to follow his rubric and you should be fine.
