I took this class online and had to come to class like 4 times for tests and finals. The online work in VERY time consuming. I spent my whole semester in the math lab. The in-class tests got a bit hard, but i still got an A in the class. Rrrrrr!

Very organized with material and presentation. However, his attitudes towards people who are not at the very top (as in perfect 100s) of the class is pretty cold. People running below 97% shouldn't be treated like chopped liver (unless they aren't trying or are being reckless in the classroom).

He is an excellent teacher i think. I have had his classes for 3 symesters now and i am dissapointed to see he is not teaching Math 260 :(. I have gotten B's in my Math 115, and Math 125 classes in which he was my professor. Hopefully i will work hard enough to get that A in Math240 with his help.

Dr.T.Putnam is an amazing professor. He has always given additional attention to students when needed. He is extrememly understanding to a student's situation, more understanding than should be expected. (I am surprised at some of the previous comments. It is not the same professor I had.)

He is a complicated man but clear lectures. No book. You have to be good at math or try real hard. He is understanding about personal situations but a bit avoidant about dealing with them. Yea he will mock students once in a while but he gave me opps. for making up an two tests so go Putnam! Hot!

Definitely not one of those classes where you can just get an "easy A". For an online math class, which only meet on midterms (4), and final exam, it really requires one giving good efforts because basically, you’re on your own. However, Dr. P. always is willing to help.

I had him last semester. He is willing to help you and answers his emails very fast like the next day. If you go to his study sessions and do the pretests then you will get an easy A. He is very good. I recommend him.

He doesn't throw any curveballs at you during his exams but they are long and cover exactly what he lectures on (multiple choice, memorization, and written portions. Highly recommended.

One of the best math Teachers at Pierce. Lectures are easy to follow and the test start out pretty easy (They get harder as the course progresses but that's how its suppose to be). Lenient Grader,You can get an A in the course even if you get a C or two on the tests.

Math 125 online but tests in the computer lab. Prof was always ready to assist. You get the sense that he likes what he does and knows his stuff. Dr. Putnam is a great example of how a math teacher should teach. He's very thorough in his lectures and tells you exactly what is going to be on the exams. He's always willing to help and doesn't expect you to get it right away. Take him, he's great!

I took Math 125 online over winter intersession and it was pretty easy. The class moves at a really fast pace (2 chapters per week), but if you keep up with the work you'll be fine. Since it was on line I didn't interact much with the teacher, but when I did have questions, he was more than happy to help. He seemed pretty cool

Took him for math 260 in winter. His tests are hard. Have to study really hard to get a good grade. at points..tests were impossible. But overall, he is a great teacher and he devotes a lot of his time to try to help. BUT do not recommend this class for summer/winter. Precalculus is extremely hard. good luck

He's a great teacher, but just a little bit hard, but that's because I didn't really study. He basically has similar problems for his tests online. No books, just a calculator.

he is easy in some ways but not helpful at all. He rushes when he has no time left and expects the students to learn on their own. He'll offer help at his office hours but he makes it uncomfortable for you to ask for help. We had no book and he still didn't enough to curve the tests. These are the times where you shouldn't trust rate my prof

He's actually one of the best teachers at Pierce. He has a very abstract, yet systematic way of teaching. If you hate textbook recitals, this guy is for you. Tests are EASY if you take the time and effort to use and review the practice tests and worksheets he provides. I had to drop a few classes with other teachers before passing with an A.

I took his crash winter course of 5 units in 4 weeks. Passed with an A. The program he uses for his online classes is really really really useful and you get to take tests over up to 3 times. He's also very helpful and wants everyone to pass. Really encouraging. I would recomend the winter class to anyone.

Very helpful when having problems understanding. He allows for attendance to be optional. as long as you turn in work,online, ontime you dont have to go to the lecture the next day. Tests are provided online and you can retake them up to 3 times to obtain a higher score.

i took math 125 with doctor putnam. his class is online. no text book required.if you have busy schdule take his class it requirs about an hour or two on computer everyday tho. if you fall behinde dont expect a good grade.

This is an online class so there really is no in-class meetings other than for tests but he does let you use notes in class which is VERY helpful. More Math teachers should acknowledge that it really is difficult to remember all those formulas!

He has his own methods and styles of doing math, so he can get confusing. DO NOT take him if you are not good at math!! Takes off pts for every MINOR error; a lot of online hw. test are half online/paper; no take home, no notes.

I loved Professor Putnam! This was an online class and attendance to lectures wasn't actually mandatory unless you needed to go or didn't finish the homework but whenever I did go to class, I had a good time. I learned eaiser and he's very helpful! I was sad he wasn't teaching Math 215 because I would have definitely taken his class agin!

Okay, so DO take this class if you procrastinate with homework and love online assignments. Basically, the homework on the website helps you out more because it has a little tutorial for you. Sometimes, that explains more than the teacher. Very lenient! He makes you retake midterms!!! He looks like Timothy Olyphant with JonBonJovi's hair.

Dr. Putnam is one of the best professors I have ever had. He was exteremely helpful, he would stay after the class just to help students finish their online work. If you don't like math now, chances are that you will like it very much after his class. His lectures were very clear and understandable unlike other teachers that I have had.

All the homework and tests are done online which I personally found very easy to do because you can retake each assignment and you are able you achieve the desired grade. Took this online course-- the online tools and set-up are helpful-- instant feedback if you get something wrong. Putnam is always willing to help if you ask-- and will offer tips and tricks. He is always willing to review your tests and will give partial credit for questions that were initially marked wrong by the online tests.

By far the greatest teacher i've ever had, all work done online, don't need to attend class if finished homework, extremely helpful if you ask. will bump your test scores up if you ask. will talk if you talk. open up to him and he will be amusing. got a great grade in class. has a ton of homework, quizzes and tests but worth it in the long run.

Dr Putnam is a great professor & goes out of his way for his students. ONE ADVICE***STUDY. The Study Guides are the ACTUAL TESTS, but he makes 4 different types, but they're the Actual exams. Prep two days in advance to study before any exam. THIS is an advance class so he will move quickly but at least you knock out two classes.

TAKE HIM! This professor helps you and gives the best advice throughout the course. If I can pass this math class during the summer, anyone can pass at any semester! Putnam is by far my favorite math teacher ever.

He is a great teacher! the study guides are the same as the test, just different numbers. he makes sure you understand the material. study a couple days before the exam to study and then have a few days to review. show up to class everyday and do not come late. do not talk in class either. show that you are paying attention.

Highly recommend Putnam for APT, esp if you plan on taking Calc and/or Physics. You will gain a solid understanding of trig concepts which will put you ahead of the curve when taking Calc/Phys. If you are flaky about attendance/are a bad note-taker, not the class for you. There are no books, only lec notes. Also, he is quite easy on the eyes!

If you ever take him (which you should, because he is one of the best math teachers at Pierce IMO) you have to remember (like in any college class) to keep up with the lectures and study. All of the exams are very straight forward. He is always willing to help and keeps you critically thinking how different variables affect a problem as a whole.

Honestly the best mathematics class I'd experienced in a long time. He teaches very well. Its not the easiest class, but if you listen to lecture and dont miss classes and tests you will be in great shape during AND after this course.

There is in class lecture but most is thru MyMathLab. There is a LOT of assignments but as long as you do one a day you should be fine. If you do the homework and quiz online for the day, no need to show up to class. Midterm and Final in class computer room. Finish the final early he lets us take it again since there was enough time.

Uses MyMathLab online. There are several sections to each chapter, as well as 1-2 quizzes and a 'midterm' all per chapter. However, he gives you three chances to take the tests and 'midterm'. If you don't plan to at least do a section a day you will get behind and not pass. 2 In class tests, one is the final. He will let you take it again if time.

The man knows his stuff. Just make sure that when you ask question, its clear and specific. He's funny in his own way. No book! Print the worksheets and do them early. Practically gives you the test through the worksheets. Wish he taught Calc.

Professor Putnam is a very organized individual. He has a unique sense of humor. He is very fair, because he expects his students to know material he's taught in class. He is picky when grading, and he's consistent. He is very smart, and he cares for his students. I would take his class if he taught Calculus.

I took Professor Putnam's Winter math 125 class. Going in I was absolutely terrified of this class and I thought it was going to be my downfall in community college. He used a hybrid style teaching method with Pearson Inc and I did very well. As a matter of fact, I got an A (NEVER SAW THAT COMING). I logged 147 hours online but look what it got me.

No book needed for his class! No hw assigned! He has practice examsquizzes posted on his website and the testsquizzes he gives out are exactly the same as his practice ones just the numbers are different. My suggestion, print out all forms and do each one more than once until you master the problem. you do that and you will receive high grades.

I took this class on winter 2015, if you can do everything in 2 weeks (free trial of the website) you'll save money, also it is not hard but too much work, take it and do everything!

Professor Putnam is my favorite math teacher at pierce college. I would take him for every math class I could. Math 260 is a fairly hard course but he makes it seem sort of easy.

Prof. Putnam is my favorite math teacher at pierce. He cares for his students. He gives very clear instruction and make sure all the students understood him. Definitely would recommend his class to anyone. He will make it easy for you. Very fair grader.

5 week course, 10-13 sections a day. 5 tries to do every quiz and 3 for every exam. The exams are timed 1 hr 25 min. You have to do 1 cumulative online on campus. Would take again except he said he is going to make it harder. If you miss one day you'll miss a lot, so don't procrastinate and take a lot of notes.

Very tough summer class. There are plenty of homework so my suggestion if you ever take this class on summer or winter, expect to spend at least 170 hours on the class . He said that he will make summer and winter much harder this time so if you are good with math, you should be OK. If not, I won't recommend it. Overall hes a nice professor.

SWEET MOTHER OF GOD. I just did an entire 13 week class in 5 weeks. Although online classes are often geared toward those who need to find time to log in and do the work, this class is definitively not for those people. Your life becomes this class for several weeks due to the excessive workload.

Very fast pace class, be attentive in writing your notes and doing the online reviews (does not collect these; they're meant for you to study). Every lecture and online review is exactly what he puts on his test - which he gives out every week. Although he nitpicks every detail when grading tests, this can actually end up helping you sometimes.

The best math professor I've ever had. Teaches his own way and doesn't follow a script or book of someone else's words. I have a lot of respect for him as a teacher and a man. Makes himself available to students and was a very positive influence on my life.

Very organized. He hardly uses the textbook and gives you practice tests that are formatted exactly as the test is and his lecture help you a lot with them. Doesnt let you use calculators on the memorization part of his tests and sort of grades your curve graphs subjectively. Never gives homework. He is very approachable when you need help.

Lecture was going over every question on the homework. Attendance was not mandatory unless you aren't caught up with homework. Homework unlimited, quizzes 5 tries and midterms 3 tries. All quizzes and exams had the same questions from the homework. MET roughly 50% of your grade. He can be confusing with how he explains things but tries. Fast paced.

Great teacher, well paced material. Grades very fairly. In class group work. Keeps very regular office hours and is available to answer questions. Suggests textbooks (not mandatory), but his online exercises and Lecture notes are more than enough.

His teaching style is fairly abstract, which is helpful in truly understanding mathematics in the long run. However, the conceptuality can definitely make the material more difficult to understand if you aren't much of an analytical thinker. He gives study guides for all tests and quizzes, so long as you devote time, you'll pass.

Hes a super chill professor. And will help on quizzes and exams when youre stuck and they are exactly like his practice problems. Doesnt use a textbook so you have to print out the lecture problems from canvas. The only downfall is that he doesnt allow calculators on quizzes nor exams so make sure youre algebra skills are perfect.

The class is very laid back, and for every test he gives you the question sheets before hand and you all work on the test in class together before the actual test. There are a few variations of the same concept he can give you on the test, but if you know it it's easy. Great teacher, would recommend.

Losers stay away. Doc Putnam is for winners and trying students only. He will spoon feed you the math process and good technique. This class is for students who are fond of the arithmetic discipline. He is a chilly professor. He is one of the best professor that Ive ever taken. The class is hard and you have to work very hard. NO need to buy the book. All the quizzes its coming from study guides. Highly recommend it to take his class.

If you want a professor that'll genuinely make you excited to go to class, this is the guy. He gives you study guides exactly like the quizzes/tests and walks you through all the answers so there's no confusion. If you study before the tests, you'll be just fine. Amazing professor! I am Awful when it comes to math, but his notes are very clear and the things we studied in class were actually on the test! Nothing new was randomly in there. As long as you show up to class follow along and write what he writes down youll do great! Hes extremely helpful and fair. He made learning less stressful and possible.

During school, I contracted the virus and informed my professor, to which he responded by saying that if there was any way he could possibly help me pass the class to let him know. He records his lectures and posts them online to review, along with practice quizzes (PQ). Homework and practice quizzes ARE NOT required, but are recommended.

Amazing teacher!! I really liked his teaching style and his lectures. There is no homework assignment from the book. All you need to do is practice the problems that he explains for each topic and take a quiz. Professor Putnam is one of my favorite teachers at Pierce College. I would definitely take him again.

The Professor is not accustomed to technology, therefore his lectures through zoom can me a little messy, but overall super passionate about what he teaches. He will go on tangents about certain things but is a fair grader on quizzes and midterms. Re-watch his lectures it will help you better understand, youll be able to catch things you missed.

Professor Putnam was one of the best math professors I have ever taken. He allows you to take tests more than one time, and is very available for help outside of class. I have never spent so much time devoted to a math class like this one. The 5 week course is intense & super test heavy, but all the assignments gives room to build a good grade.

Professor Putnam was a great math professor. I found that his unconvential style of teaching math without homework or daily quizzes was unsettling at first, but found to be a great way to teach a hefty subject like precalculus. Lectures can be fun to watch and he's good at keeping the attention of others during lessons.

Dr. Putnam was my teacher years ago, but I've always highly recommended his class. I've never had a teacher who seemed to genuinely enjoy what they were teaching until this class. He taught the class passionately, and it made me start to enjoy this subject. I'm so thankful for him because he changed my perspective on math, especially trigonometry.

Professor Putnam's teaching style made this class really engaging. He's clearly passionate about the subject, and it rubbed off on me. With the free textbook and helpful resources like unstuck AI, I was able to do well despite the course's difficulty.

I had Dr. Putnam as my professor years ago for Trig and i've honestly never had another professor like him. He definitely has a unique teaching style, and you have to be motivated in order to get a good grade. His class is very lecture heavy but the lectures are interesting so it's not bad. He gives a ton of extra credit and overall I reccommend!
