Dr. Caulfield makes this class interesting, found myself looking forward to the next class. Great teacher, extremely energetic and passionate about what he does. Word to the wise...don't talk while he is talking:)

He's a very understanding, nice guy. I look forward to this class! He says the book is mandatory but there is ways to get the stories and poems offline. The only problem I had is his assignments were sometimes too broad and I never knew what to write about.

Great teacher some of his papers are hard and make sure you dont piss him off! but rather than that he is funny and makes class fun

Great class! Caulfield made class a lot of fun and was always trying to get everyone involved in the class discussions. He keeps you thinking and he respects everyone's opinion.

Dr. Caulfield was the best teacher I've ever had. His class was very interesting. I was quiet in it but I learned so much and about much more important things. He really opens your mind up and makes you think. He's very interesting and I really looked foward to attending his class. I ACTUALLY miss it, which has never happened before.

Amazing professor, He changed my life. He is one of the most interesting people I've ever met. Definitely take his class. There is work to do but it's not hard and it's mostly opinion stuff.

This was my first year of college and I have to say he's my favorite teacher of all time! I hope everyone at my college gets a chance to meet with him. Loved evaluating the movies and commercials. He really makes you think about life and how life works He made me see life in a different perspective and i appreciate everything hes done for me!

Professor Caulfield is a great professor. He makes the class interesting and fun with his endless amounts enthusiasm. The workload isn't bad especially because he makes the assignments fun and relevant. If you have the opportunity, take a class with him..you won't regret it.

What a great teacher. I took an online class over the summer and loved it. Great reading material and even a movie to watch. The Proffessor would set up online live chats to discuss topics and clear up any confusion. Straightforward assignments and an extremely helpful teacher. Cool cat.

He is the greatest! He really tells how it is! You just have to participate and be there. The assignments are not hard and interesting. He is very interesting. He makes you feel comfortable and is just AWESOME!!!

The class (Literature as Film)has a textbook but he does not want you to get it, so no textbook. First day he asked us if it was okay if we focused more on the film aspect of the class (fine by everyone of course) so we watched countless movies that were set in NYC.(that semester's theme) Great person, perhaps a better professor. Loved the class.

Professor Caulfield is awesome! He keeps the class interesting. There are several writing assignments, but as long as you try you will do fine! You get 3 absences. Just don't fall asleep in his class, or he will kill you. Great professor!

I had him for Contemporary Non Fiction Journalism. He is an awesome teacher. Very fun, and keeps your attention. He gives out work, but as long as you do it you are good. He is extremely funny and it's hard to be bored in that class. He is also really helpful and nice.

Taking his class means a lot of hard work and also definitely pays off. He is absolutely not generous with grades so whatever you are getting you are earning it. As much as I loved it, I hated it too. I had other classes too and this class took a lot of unexpected times out it.

I always hated english until i joined this class. in midst semeser and i absolutely love him. by far the best teacher ive had. doesnt teach you only english. he teaches you about life. take him without a doubt!!

Don't be an immature typical kid and you'll do fine. Show up, do the required readings, and participate in class and you'll do well. He's not a hard ass, he is just what kids need these days! Side note: He does like to trick you on the quizzes so come prepared!

Prof.Caulfield is a great guy. He uses the following books: "BASS 2008", "Lips Together, Teeth Apart", and "Fahrenheit 451". He has class discussions on all readings. You need to have access to a computer to get into nicenet.org where you will get ALL of the assignments. Note that you need an email.

Professor Tom is one of my favorite professors and probably one of the best too. Even though theres a lot of reading and quizzes, his class was so much fun and so interesting. He's so awesome that having an early class with him was the best. Take him for anything he's awesome you seriously wont regret it.

LOVE THIS MAN! he is great for inspiration, fresh breath of air. Extremely real and honest. Exams are from the readings, so dont even think about skimming. Asks just enough out of his students that you want to give more. Eye opener for a morning classs. Wish he taught more. "A" is so doable if you try.

Loved this class took him last semester for ENG 102 has a strict attendance policy and no electronics are used during class he is the only teacher to inspire me at suffolk and gave me a real outlook on life definitly cares about the students more then himself would love to take this class again or any class offered by him

Did not care about attendance, I had six absences and still got an A just show up and hand in all your work and you will be fine. Amazing man with great stories to tell

Since this was a night class, the class ran for the whole 3 hours. At first, Prof Tom comes off as a crazy guy, but as the semester went on the class got really into it. I did miss 2 classes & was told if I missed again I would fail, but his class was life changing especially with Prof Tom teaching it & I wish I could take one of his classes again!

AMAZING PROFESSOR! He isn't your typical teacher, he doesn't like lecturing. he loves class participation and is there to guide you rather than teach you. By far my favorite professor here at Suffolk. He helped guide me in the direction I needed for my major. He'll come off as a mad man, but he is such an amazing man and a wonderful professor. He's charismatic, hysterical and inspirational. the only way to anger him off is by not handing in work or having your cellphone out. Enjoy his guidance!

Not only is he an amazing and down-to-earth professor, but he also made life in general a lot easier. There is no fluff only real talk. I was always very shy, but he has made the classroom such a relaxing and calming environment that I slowly became excited to present my work. He is funny, real, and very inspirational.

creative writing/poetry is one of the best classes I've ever taken. It is a way to get a break from all of life's stresses and worries. It has helped me deal with the (at times) overwhelming school load by turning all that annoyance into great writing. Professor Caulfield gave me confidence in writing and in knowing that I can achieve anything.

Don't waste the opportunity of being his student if you can take one of his classes, he is GREAT!

Great professor, he is chill, lets you express your opinions and respects everyone. Quizzes are easy, essays are brief and to the point. you only get 4 quizzes and 2 essays. Not bad at all, I would take him again

I took Professor Caulfield's Advanced Creative Writing: Fiction course in Fall of 2015 and was not disappointed. Honestly, this man changed my life. He is very caring, smart, funny, and inspirational; he makes you look forward to coming to class. Do yourself a favor and JUMP at the opportunity to take a class with this guy.. you won't regret it!

I have never experienced a better professor than this man. He is inspirational on every level, down to earth, and just such a great spirited and enthusiastic man. You would be cheating yourself out of a great education and outlook on your own life if you don't take a class with him. Do not pass up this opportunity!!

An A is fairly feasible if effort is put in. Short story readings weekly with quizzes that were easy if you read, obviously. Two papers of fair length. Interesting readings to say the least. You will also be surprised on how much you realize about life and yourself, while also learning about literature in this class.

He is the nicest person. Just talk to him if you a confused or have any issues. He will help you. Be honest with him. He will go out of his way for his students! He went out of his way to make sure my other English professor got my paper when I missed their last day of class due to car trouble. He drove my paper to that professors house. 10/10

Very nice guy. Only 2 essays the whole semester. Had lots of readings assigned but they were short and easy to read. Tons of quizzes on the readings, with some very specific questions, so pay attention to the readings! Encourages participation heavily, if you don't like talking in class there is really no way around it. Overall good!

He really cares about his students so just talk to him if you have an issue because he will listen! He brings his pup Oliver to class sometimes, and gets off topic fairly easy but you know the lectures will never be boring. I took him as a three hour night class and he kept the class awake and engaged the whole semester.

A remarkable professor & human being. He cares. He will really listen to any issue you have, as long as you approach him in a genuine manner. If something seems unclear, all you have to do is ask. Overall, what he wants is for his students to be present, to be mindful of others, & to show effort.

If you get the chance to take one of his classes, definitely take advantage!! We read A LOT of short stories and had a lot of quizzes. He makes you work for your grade. However, hes incredibly smart, caring and very inspirational.

I was so lucky to find PT on the little Sayville campus! I take as many classes there as I can. Within a few weeks, we weren't a class but more like a family. He's so inspirational. He really gets you to stop and think about who you are and how you can become the hero of your own story! He does want you off your phone! He's very funny too!

im sure tom wont remember me but in spring 2018 i had him and took a lot of absences because i had something personal going on. i emailed him and he genuinely cared for my situation and really helped my grade as much as he could. a really great, genuine guy. really cares for his students success and personal lives. thanks for everything tom.

I recommend taking him in person rather than online for a better experience. My only real complaint is that he teaches the same concept throughout the whole semester and it gets kind of tedious after awhile. Overall nice guy and his dog is adorable.

Professors first time trying to teach a class online because of Covid so things werent perfect. He ended up dc/ing several of the units because we were running out of time. Didn't give much feedback on assignments for various reasons that he listed in the tons of emails that he sent. But very insightful and I truly enjoyed listening to him speak.

Professor Caulfield is truly the best professor I have ever had. He is engaging and truly cares about us. He wants every single one of us to succeed. He goes above and beyond to prepare you for exams and papers. He is beyond fair with grading. The answers to the tests are in his lectures. Pay attention and you will pass.
