The prof. Thomas is very good teacher, he explains every concept of project management in details and let student to discuss on each concept which is indeed helpful for students. The Harvard Business review papers and text book helped a lot to understand management skills required in real world.

Prof. Cheriyan is new at teaching, but it was not a bad thing in this case. His teaching style is informal and he aims to have everyone in class participate in a group discussion. He seems to enjoy discussing project management principles. He is a good teacher for students who are self-motivated.

Professor Cheriyan takes a more practical approach to teaching, which I find way more valuable than a "textbook" style. The classes consist primarily of case study and Harvard Business Review reading discussions. The class isn't as tailored to engineering students as I would have liked it to be but it's overall it's worth taking.

I took Project Management with him. He is easy to talk to and answers every question. No tests or quizzes in this class but daily participation is mandatory. Do the readings and take part in the class discussions about them and you'll be fine. My only complaint is that he would assign a 6 page paper single spaced due in a week every so often.

I have graduated for over two years, and working in Google as SWE. I remember Professor Cheriyan's classes require a lot of read outside the class, good read though. And you can always learn non-technical stuff that are essential to understand as an Engineer, we also brain storm a lot during the class, which is a normal thing here at Google.

This class is unique when compared to other ENGR courses at CCNY as it requires you to think critically of a solution to Harvard Case Studies. There is no plethora of equations to memorize or any set of steps that can help solve a specific issue. The homework assignments are tedious but some are rewarding. The lectures are engaging and interesting.

Professor Cheriyan is excellent in teaching, both in the classroom and online. The case studies are interesting and require critical thinking and discussion amongst our peers. A learning environment was encouraged by removing the fear of exams and motivating students that if they are able to strongly support their ideas, they are not wrong.

I hope we could have more professor like Thomas in College, this is actually the first class that I took that make me feel that I learned something practical for my future carrier. Cheriyan offers a different classroom approach to Engineering and Business Law. Instead of dull lectures, he facilitates interesting discussions about various topics (usually based off of articles and case studies). No exams or projects, but expect to write 2-3 page responses for homework. Easy to succeed if you do the homework and participate.

Massive amount of HW. HWs are very time consuming, but will help you improve your critical thinking skills. He's always open for student discussion, take feedback from time to time. The course contents are interesting.

The class is as good as you make it. It's based on critical thinking more than any aspects of engineering. If you put real thought into the case studies, you can write a response in a day. There's no clear grading rubric, but the professor does provide good feedback and leads a good discussion about each assignment after the fact.

Great professor. This is not your normal math based engineering course he will make you come out of your introverted Shell and make you defend your ideas in class. No need to buy any textbooks he will provide everything you need in a Google drive. Just be ready to read alot and write alot. Topics are not hard they just take time .

When I first started taking the class I honestly hated it. I did not like the vague assignments and the lack of feedback I was getting from them. But as time went on I started to get the hang of things. He has a peculiar teaching style that works, which is a hands-off method. Cheryian's class was a gem-helps draw students out of their comfort zones (which is where all the learning happens). It's HW intensive, discussion heavy & requires critical thinking. Don't be shy, & participate to get the most out of class. No wrong answers as long as you can support your claims. Don't expect feedback or strict guidelines on HW.

Not an easy class, and the professor pushes you to the limit. He gives you homework without telling you what hes expecting or how to do it, so youll have to figure it out by your own. This pushes everyone to the limit and when you are done makes u feel like u accomplished something (at least for me). The only negative thing is he was not grading.

Attendance and participation matters! Class was online and he wanted cameras on & people to actively participate in class discussions. He shows interesting videos in every lecture that the class had to analyze. A lot of case studies, some were interesting and others were not. Make sure to do the case studies early!!! Interesting course overall :)

Speak up, or it will cost you! The whole point of the class is to learn how to communicate your ideas. Just be prepared to defend your claims, and you will be just fine.

He is very knowledgable and actually knows what he needs to give out to students. The more you participate, the more you learn and expect to get high grades. The case studies' argument needs to be reasonable. His case studies hit you hard to make your limits longer every time you finish one case study. But, you will definitely learn a lot. Work hard!

Easily one of the most interesting classes i have ever taken. I took the case studies seriously and gave a strong approach into actually solving the economic problems involved in each one. Professor Cheriyan is a master at forcing/teaching you to think critically. This class will quite definitely serve me well in the future. Would highly recommend.

this class was tough in terms of assignments, but you do learn a lot from each case study which btw you have to write 10 or more pages to get A+. I did get so many As however I got a B in the course just because "class participation" I didnt think it was fair since I talked a few times but it he doesnt remember some names or faces (zoom).

He is a very good professor. U will have weekly 2 long articles to read and essay about 2-3 pages to write. Then u discuss the hw in the class and u have to participate and speak to get the A. Make sure that u just provide solutions in the essay and dont summarize the case study. No exams. U will enjoy the discussion during the class.

Great professor who makes the class interesting and easy going. Homework is a bit excessive for what the class is but since it makes up 90% of your grade, you have to make sure you get A's on the HW. Unfortunately the grader uses a letter system for the HW's, so if you get any grade less than an A on the HW's you can't get an A in the class.

Professor Cheriyan is a great professor, he makes class enjoyable and interesting. He is not afraid to go against the grain so to speak and to just be his authentic self. I actually laughed during this class genuinely. The ability he has to create engaging conversation amongst students is amazing. Lots of reading and writing, but its all enjoyable!

This class is well, you have many different feelings. Now keep in mind at this time classes are online. Attendance is mandatory to show up, and he mentions a lot of life lessons. There are reading for this class so be prepared to get that done and know what you're going to say. He's a big Trader Joes fan so make sure to bring that up.

Tom does a great job of introducing Engineering majors to Economics, but also ethics, business and a host of other things which you probably can't find in your usual classes. Participation is required, so say something. I found it interesting and useful. The papers are long, but worth it imo

If you are here just to pass, then expect a case study (4-6 pgs) per week for around 11 papers total. That is all you need to know to get at least a B+. If you care, he's chill and insightful. Not all things in life are clear & absolute, in this course you learn how think critically using facts, experiences, and guides to make the best judgement.

The class is fun and thought-provoking if you participate and be ready to discuss the papers assigned each week. Professor Thomas is a fantastic dude and if I ever become alcoholic, everyone should know it's because of that NakedWines case study. But overall, enjoyable and fair class.

This class is a really easy class if you keep up with the assignments and you participate during the lectures. The professor really makes this class engaging and interesting, so you don't get board. I would suggest though to take this class during your senior year or on a light semester because it does require a lot of time to do the assignments.

The best part about this class is that lectures are interactive and mostly just discussions. Homework's definitely require a lot of time and after awhile it gets annoying, however, it is doable. The professor cares a lot about us learning the material and he is quite funny.

Professor Cheriyan is an amazing professor since he's super chill and makes his class interesting. He really makes it feel like were all his buddy during class discussions. This professor is breath of fresh air in the engineering department. As an EE student, surrounded by EE professor who do nothing but throws formulas at you, Professor Thomas takes a different approach. In this class you learn some valuable critical thinking methods, and write a ton(I hate writing) but at least it just one writing piece/week.

Professor Cheriyan is a true Gem in the Grove school of Engineering at CCNY. Apart from your usual math/engineering courses, prof. Cheriyan instills critical thinking in students and paves the path for students to become leaders in the real world. By partaking in various discussions for case studies, this class helped me realize a lot!

This class was fun and very different from other engineering courses. If you are willing to participate and offer your opinion, the class will be enjoyable. Engineering Economics class was one of the most interesting classes I have taken in CCNY. Professor Cheriyan is very knowledgeable and gives very interesting lectures about important Economic subjects and shows a lot of interesting videos. Professor Tom is not a difficult professor but he expects you to put in the work. Be prepared to write your butt off as it's an essay dominated class. This class is difficult because every week the case study analysis is very time consuming. If you have other classes that need your time, I would say wait for a lighter semester. Overall 8/10

Tom is a very chill Professor and he makes his lectures very enjoyable as they are more of a group discussion than your regular class lecture. You will have to do a lot of reading and writing in this class so be prepared for that. On the bright side, there are no exams or quizzes.

One of the more manageable classes. Chill professor and lectures are discussions about case studies and other interesting economic issues. Only HW is writing response essays to case studies typically given weekly, which possibly take at least above 3 pages to cover.

This course is a must, not only as a requirement for EE but for your own sake. Professor offers a lot in his engineering economics course. Does not deserve to get paid the same as most of the teachers at this school. It is a breath of fresh air to have an enjoyable engineering class. He has a rly good personality and loves participation. This does hurt ppl struggling to join the conversation and often leads to sidetracked conversations. Case studies given almost every week. Simply effectively reading the material and planning your time to write the paper will guarantee a good grade on your papers. First things first, just take the class, it's totally worth it. If you enjoy debate-like discussion and watching informative economic videos in class, this class is for you. Although this is true, the case studies assigned every week are like medicine. They are very time consuming and are not super easy to write, but you'll be glad you did it.

This is not your typical engineering course. The class is discussion based and is very writing intensive. Be prepared to read dense case studies and write 10+ pages weekly in response to them. Be prepared to read and respond to a case study almost every week. The in-class discussions are the best part of the course as they can lead to interesting topics. Mr. Cheriyan is a great professor, he took a very unique approach to teach the course, and introduced me to a book I think I'll use for the rest of my academic career. I polished my critical thinking skills and I have learned how to analyze situations from an economic lens. I wish his other courses weren't only for grads. Grab him while you can.

He just gave us no homework this week, so this is going to be a good review. He assigns about 14pgs of reading a week along with a paper. If you have ever been in college then you know how to write 4 pages in a couple of hours, so prepare for that every week. It's going to be one of those classes where you get what you give. Tom's an awesome professor. Lectures aren't lectures, they're thoughtful yet fun conversations, always kept real and practical--no theories. As future engineers, we tend to forget the business side of our careers--Tom makes you consider that. My favorite part of the class was the financial planning hw through ProjectiFi and the Chase case study.

No exam/quiz, only average of one lengthy reading with response per week. Responses will not be graded but will be debated in a class. You must participate in class! You should be fine (meaning A) if you are OK with reading/writing and participate . Take his class, because it is required; enjoy his class, because he will teach you how to think.

I would say, it was, by far, the best class I took in my whole life. At first, I thought that the class would be boring as I am by no means a management student but the way the professor took the class by Analyzing case studies, Playing videos on debatable situations, and asking everybody to make their own opinion was very interesting.

If you think critically, steelman your opponents' argument, do the readings, and passionately argue your points, you will do well in this class. Professor Cheriyan's class is amusing and simple. Show up for lecture, watch a few videos and discuss what you took away from the videos from an economic viewpoint. Other than that, there's a case study weekly so make sure you get readings and assignments done since there is no late credit for them.

This is by far the most interesting class I took. I was not interest in this class, but Professor Thomas made it interesting, and encouraged participation. Time was used efficiently, and subjects studied were real life problems. I really learned few things. Take the class or any of his other classes. He grades generously and participation matters.

Professor Cheriyan is easily my favorite professor at City College. I took his Engineering Economics class Spring of 2023 and even though attendance wasn't graded, I found myself going to every class which I don't make a point to do with any of my other classes. He's smart, funny, and made me think in ways I wouldn't have before. 10/10 class.

You get out what you put in. Prof. Cheriyan is an excellent lecturer that knows how to communicate effectively. I encourage everyone who takes this course to ask questions and speak more often. This is the most practical and life-applicable class I have taken.

Though lecture time can be long (2.5 hrs), it is really worth attending, not just for the grade. Best to set time aside to complete assignments & participate in lectures. These few things are what is graded. Aside from that, you can definitely learn new things from Professor Cheriyan. Do all of this and expect a good grade and time well spent.

Professor Cheriyan has become one of my favorite professors thus far at City College. With ENGR 276, his lectures are fun, interactive & mind expanding. Like a previous review, you get out what you put in. Make sure to find time for assignments & readings for lectures. Attend class & participate as much as you can. It is worth the time & grade.

The material provided in the class is very interesting and useful for engineers of all fields. There is a lot of reading and 6 pages due once every week. Your grade is judged relative to your classmates work. Grade is made up of only the essays due every week and participation.

The classes are very lengthy and in person, and attendance matters a lot since it is worth 30% of the grade. Assignments are very lengthy (70%) but it is very likely you'll get an A as long as you go in enough depth with the page limit since TA is not a harsh grader.

Even though i skipped a lot, this class was extremely interesting and entertaining. The case studies are a little rough (5 pages per week minimum) but you'll get used to it. Manage your time with them start early and think hard. The class kinda changes your view on the way a company manages stuff

Professor Thomas makes this class engaging and worthwhile. The case studies are a lot of work, but using tools like unstuckstudy ai can help manage the workload. Participation is key, and the professor grades generously.

This is probably one of the more straight forward classes at CCNY. There are no exams, however you will have case studies that are assigned weekly and discussed in the following class. Professor Cheriyan encourages you to think critically and allows you to voice your thoughts and opinions, which I liked. FYI, attendance is mandatory.
