i liked his class. the only thing i didn't like was the essay every two weeks, but he usually picks interesting topics for the essays. i'm just very lazy. no books or dates needed. just pay attention, and you'll do well.

Don't need a book he sais that books are too expensive and that students should not have too pay that much. He overall explains the material great. Understand notes and write the papers and you'll be fine. Best prof that I have taken for history.

well i thought i did very well in the class i had a c+ before the final. and when i looked at my grade online i had a D. very easy though, if i would have written my other 2 essays i would have made a B. if u take him dont skip an assignment, it bites u in the long run.

Professor Clarkin is an awesome instructor. Don't be intimidated by his essays, they are very interesting and they stimulate your thought process, not to mention you will learn a little history. Clarkin will always rate top five of all my professors I have ever taken and ever will take!

Clarkin is a great Professor. He gives great notes and explains everything. His essays are pretty easy and just help you better understand the class. his quizzes are also very easy, just make sure you come to class he doesnt count it against you but if you miss you miss important notes.

Clarkin made everything very interesting and his class was easy to take. All tests and quizzes are off of notes so no need to buy or even read the book he covers everything you need to know! He is also very entertaining and although you have some papers to write they are easy enough. Two tests and 2 papers are dropped and final is curved.

All of his lectures are very interesting, even though I am not a fan of history he always kept my attention. I liked his method of dropping the two lowest test and essay grades. He was helpful and understanding. He doesnt take role but you will want to attend considering the quizzes are based soley on lecture.

I took his summer Internet class. There was ALOT of reading, about 3-4 chapters a week. He is VERY easy to work with, VERY FAIR. Tests are not easy but he gives you a "heads up" on what to study. Final Exam was not bad. Got a "B" and I hate History. I would definitely take his class again! Great Teacher, made class interesting!

He is by far the best teacher that I have had a SAC. He was interesting and entertaining. You were never bored in his class. I took him last fall, but just found the site and had to post. I have to regrets, one that the class ended and I had taken 1301 with another teacher. I wish I could take him again.

Clarkin is a great teacher! Even though all he does is lecture the entire time he makes it very interesting for you. Also, as long as you take notes you'll do fine on the quizzes.

This guy is awesome! He's funny, and very interesting. I hated history before his class, but he has changed my mind. YOu'll have 7 quizzes & 7 essays. But he drops 2 of each. People say he grades hard (not true) he grades fair. Definetly recommend him, he's badass, and makes history bearable.

Great History Corse! If you take good notes you can get and easy A. 7quizes and 7 essays, drops lowest 2 of each, keeps his lecture interesting and only quizes on lecture material. No book needed. Had for 1301, took different teacher for 1302, dropped the corse, and took it again with Clarkin.

Very funny, makes listening to history fun. If you take good notes, you will have an almost garanteed A. My final for this class was a 95, so if I can do it, you can do it too. He has a problem of losing his glasses almost every class, but that makes it all the more fun. When I took it, he didn't quiz on dates or numbers, making this class fun.

I took this class over Sum 1 2006 via internet. There are 4 essays, 4 quizzes, and a final. He drops your lowest essay and quiz score. Since I was satisfied with my essay grades, I didn't submit the last one. I wish he would have been a little more direct with students who failed to submit postings so other students could have picked up the slack.

I took his history 2 class on the internet this summer and it was a lot of reading and essay. It might have been better during a regular semester but it was very hectic for 5 weeks. His final was easy bc it was from the quizzes. I made an "A" but i EARNED it.

Grades the bi-weekly papers easily. If you pay attention to his lectures and do the papers you will do well in this class. Very funny too!

Professor Clarkin is very laid back and down to earth. Probably one of the few professors I see come in in jeans and sneakers. I find history to be boring, but he made even ME like history. He puts the outline on the board, you don't even need a book, just beware, he grades essays like an English professor.

Great class. If there was anything wrong with it, it was the 10-15 two-three page essays he required over the course of the semester, one every two weeks... He tries to be funny... Don't take him if you're looking for a hot professor. He's smart, interesting, and very informative, but not one of the more attractive teachers out there. Yay!!!

Is helpful can go to him when you need help with assignments. Give outline of notes and than posted them on WEBCT which is great and helpfull everything is at your footsteps. Clarkin was one of the most fun teachers I have had. He puts a wonderfully informative outline on the board. There are essays that he grades and expects you to know how to write. You are not required to have the book because the lectures are just that GREAT!

I've taken Clarkin for 2 semesters.He is fun and his class is straightforward.He posts the notes on the web for the quizzes.Study for these and complete the written assignments,which are easy, and you will be successful.

Took his internet class over the summer. Found the essays to be very hard. He grades very hard on them also. Quiz's were easier and the final is straight from the quiz's. You will get an A if you are one of his favorites and he does have favorites in his class. People don't post and they still get A's for participation if you are one he likes.

He is the most amusing history teacher that I have ever had! Dr. Clarkin is really comprehensive in his lectures. He gives very clear, easy to understand outlines of his lectures. He gives on-line notes for us to utilize. He makes lots of references to beer, though.

Frustrated English professor. His essays are not for the faint of heart. He is awesome, fun to learn from, willing to help in ANY way, is always willing to go out of his way (even if he says he isn't), worth every ounce of blood on papers. Test are not easy! Study!

I do not write good papers and made it out of there with an easy A!! I had no interest in history before taking his first semester, but I actually considered studying history after taking his class.

Mr. Clarkin is awesome. He has a good sense of humor and he is a good prof. The class is very easy to pass. You don't need to buy a book and you don't need to come to class every day. I only went to class on Fridays only and I got an A. Very easy but you do write a 2 page essay every other week. No tests, just weekly multiple choice quizzes.

I took him for the second history online, and all I had to do was write five out of seven essays and take five out of seven quizzes, while participating in a discussion in a bulletin board! The final is only 10% of the grade, which comes directly from older quizzes! Take him if you want an A, which is what I got!

this prof is the best sac has to offer. took him 1301 & 1302. he lessons are well organized and he even puts what he says online. a quiz every other week but only over what you learned between quizes. you dont need a book but just show up to class so you know whats is gonna be on the quiz. i swear i changed my majoy to hist because of him.

Dr. Clarkin is a great unbiased lecturer. He provides notes for all of his lectures and a book is not required. 3 short papers and 7 or so quizes with the lowest 2 grades dropped, and the final. I taken mr. clarkin for both 1301 and 1302 online. . . He is awesome.. I recommend him for those majoring in history because he makes the material fun and interesting, he also adds additional readings for the writing assignments that are interesting. He is a fantastic teacher who will help those interested in suceeding do so. He is very fair. I am a poor test taker but I am strong in writing. So if your like me one over the other you will do fine.I passed with an A. I not only reccomend him but I would take another one of his classes in a heart beat. He cares about your sucess if you do.

Really enjoyed taking this class. You do not use a text book, he post all the notes online incase you miss a class and also because he understands that text book can get expensive. The day before the test he reviews which is really helpful. This class is easy but you also learn a lot. He assigns 3, 2 page paper but they are so easy.

I took Mr. Clarkin's online class and it was super easy! As long as you do all assignments, you'll get an easy A. Final is only 10% of your grade... all the little assignments are the rest! Discussions are don't before every test (reviews of the chapters), so as long as you read over those... your golden!

History is not one of my favorite classes considering you have so many years of it prior to college. However, Professor Clarkin rocks. If you do not do well, its your own fault. I took him in Spring on 2012 for 2nd part of history, he was amazing!!! He teaches history by lecture, very interesting and easy to understand, he gives you all the important details, don't have to worry about dates only what happened. You have to write 3 2 page papers, but he helps with that. He is the best history teacher I've ever had.

The teacher was a good guy! His tests were almost the exact same as his notes. I got a C and it was because I deserved it. Why? Because I slept in class and used my phone. As you can tell, I didn't pay attention but I still got a passing grade. Fun teacher and a nice guy. I'd take him again and pay attention this time.

Wonderful instructor. I took an online course and he was clear about the assignments and very helpful. Make sure to read your textbooks. The only real issue I had was finding a quiet place for study. Otherwise, it is pretty easy if you take the time to read and concentrate on the material.

This professor was awesome! Just completed his online Hist 1302 course and I would definitely take him again. He responds quickly to emails, is very clear on assignment instructions, and is always willing to help with any questions you may have. I 100% recommend!

Prof. Clarkin is by far the BEST professor I have taken from in college. He gives very clear directions & grades pretty easy. He also drops the lowest 2 grds of semester so if you work hard & study discussion notes you can make an A. He also gives one extra credit assignment. Final is made up of all previous tests w/o surprises.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Professor Clarkin is very hard working man. He is very very energetic and forces you to learn. Awesome communicator. The only observation I have about him is he is very very particular about essays. I'm glad I took my 1st online class with Clarkin! He is a great communicator, instructions are clear, and he's always open to questions. He sends out daily reminders to keep you on track, and his quizzes come directly from LOs and the textbook. He is a bit particular about essays but I still managed As without too much effort. Highly recommend!

This professor is excellent at communicating. Took for 5 week summer course and the class was an easy A. Dropped lowest quiz grade of 4, 3 essays (4th is optional), 4 discussion posts, and a final. Also, I never experienced any harsh grading with the essays. As long as you're prepared to write at a college level, you'll do fine. Would take again!

Class was simple enough, several open book quizzes, test, but the essays.. Oh this man is an English professor in a Historians clothing :) He is very specific in what he wants, and does communicate what he wants with you though.

Outstanding lectures and a great guy, rarely makes jokes but when he does its to get the class going during lecture. I would love to take this class again. Mr. Clarkin cares about his students, test and essays are not designed to fail. Gives as much clarity on issues regarding history or your major. NO TEXTBOOK. :)

Although this class was online, the professor gave good feedback on two short papers for the semester and was always available if needed. There's a quiz over the chapters every two weeks but are SUPER easy, you just have to read the chapters. So be prepared to read! Would highly recommend for an Easy A if you give some time to just read the text.

Dr. Clarkin obviously knows his stuff and has a well rounded approach to teaching history. Show up + pay attention + study a bit Easy A Takes 57 quizzes, 23 essays, & final exam. That's all your work. No book needed.

Funny guy! Pretty simple, and fun to listen to. He will beat into your head when quizzes are so you can study and will constantly remind you about assignments. Nice man, fun professor, and will be first on board to help you, if you need it. Quizzes are easy and so are the tests. If you really want to have a good time in class, take him!

The best teacher you'll ever want! Lets you use a laptop to take notes, no book, test are based on notes taken in class. Will let you use a tape recorder if your a bad note taker. Really this class is a buffer class. Good luck.

the way he teaches made me like history more and more even if English is my 2th language. He graded essays a little hard. All u need for this class if take good notes in class, do essays. His quizzes are easy if u come to class. He will drop the 2 lowest of your quizzes. No extra credit, no textbook.

Professor Clarkin is the best online teacher I have ever had! There are 2 essays, 7 Quizzes, 1 Final, and several LO discussions. He gives you plenty of time to complete work and reminds you constantly when something is due. He gives great feed back! This is such an easy class if you read your book and do the LO's. Quiz every other week BUT EASY! Follow along in lecture and you'll get a 100, questions are exact from provided notes. Too a late class and he made it easy to stay awake. Funny!!!! Professor Clarkin is the BEST History teacher. I took him for both 1301 and 1302. There is a test every other week, 2 essay's, simple LO discussions, and 50 question final. Do all the work and you will pass. He answers emails fast and is there if you need help. He emails the class week about upcoming assignments. I highly recommend him.

I really appreciated Mr. Clarkin. He stayed on top of everything. He would send out emails a lot and explained everything that was to come up, Which he did not have to. He also got grades out really fast which was a relief at times. He gave feed back on your assignments. If you did well on essays the third one you could opt out of. Awesome Prof.

Fantastic professor. Can't say enough good things about him. TAKE HIM. I got a zero on an LO, which is worth 4% of your grade, and I STILL ended up with an A. He's phenomenal. Definitely taking him again.

Clarkin is super funny, he makes sure the lecture inst too boring. This professor cares, even if it seems like he doesn't, he really does! Took him online. He is GREAT. A few essay's, 7 discussion posts (you need to do the five he assigns you), and 7 "exams". Open book exams, all the answers are there. If you skip a discussion post it cannot be made up. You are assigned 5 and they count. Missed 1 and got pretty much A's on everything else but I have a B. Responds quickly.

Do the LO's and you will be fine. Theyre tedious sometimes but easy. All test questions are based off of the LO's. 2 essays and they were both easy to me. The final exam is literally all of the old test questions so that was awesome. Just do your work and you'll pass.

This professor was honestly one of my favorites this semester. He will seem like a mean person when you first meet him but he is the nicest professor I've taken. He is hilarious and will keep you interested in the lecture. Be sure to study for the tests, they can be hard. You're gonna be writing 2 essays and a optional one if you need it.

Great teacher! Every week there is a discussion and a quiz. His assignments are really easy, just make sure you do them on time. He emails about everything! Great communication! I was worried about taking history, since it's not my favorite subject. But he made it very enjoyable.

This class was a breeze, it required reading from the textbook as well as handouts provided via Canvas, a few papers that were not graded harshly, and quizzes. Prof. Clarkin send out reminders for the quizzes and assignments, no reason you should not make an A if you make an effort!

Took the course online and it was fairly easy. Was mostly reading and two mandatory essays, with an optional third essay for makeups/extra credit. We read two chapters every two weeks, with one weekly post and a test online that was open 2 days. He also post a test review which is the exact material the test is. Just read, keep up, and post.

Took his online summer class. His class is straightforward and organized, no surprises. The way the class is structured, ends up leading to about 3 hours of work a week. It's possible to get through this class without the textbook, but you'll have to do some extra research on your on.

I took his class this summer as a summer 1 online course. He was very specific about what he wanted and how he wanted it. There was a 4-5 Chapters to read, a discussion, a quiz, and a essay due each week. He dropped the lowest quiz grade. There were only two essays required with an optional third one. The two highest essay grades would be kept.

I had Professor Clarkin for HIST1301 (summer II) and really enjoyed it. Hes enthusiastic about teaching and knowledgeable about the subject. He does require essay assignments, but ALWAYS provides guidance and feedback if you ask. Dont procrastinate! Pay close attention to his Learning Objectives as theyre crucial to acing his tests.
