Mr. Dow is an awesome teacher. I wish that all of my professors were as helpful as he was. His rating should be nothing but the highest.

His online class was great. Very friendly and helpful, a little uptight on grading, overall a great instructor. He really helps you make the most of the semester.

It is impossible to do poorly in his class. He beats every topic you discuss to the ground. If you go to class...and are not a complete idiot...you will get at least a B. I will be happy if I never hear the words "Tom Jones" again.

Shakespeare was the most difficult lit for me to handle.. until i got to Dow's class...... he got me through it . I was hospitalized the second week of his class and he was kind enough to let me make up every assignment and he went over everything i had missed.. i ended upp with an A in his class.. something that i thought was impossible

Dr. Tom Dow is by far one of the best teachers at Moraine Valley. The class is fun and actually requires you to think but isnt too difficult. If you show up to class and participate you'll have no problem at all. However if you ever give him an evil glare he may with hold your final...I'm just saying :)

You really do learn a lot in his class, and he really does teach the subject in a way that's easy to understand. He has a fantastic sense of humor, and I never laughed so much in a class (and learn at the same time). Besides, a guy who makes Beowulf fun can't be all that bad, right?

Dr. Dow is a great teacher for Shakespeare. He makes you think about the plays in ways you wouldn't have on your own. You write papers on the plays, but he prepares you for them very well, so they're never overwhelming to write. He wants everyone to do well, and helps however he can. He's easy going and knowledgeable. I loved going to this class.

Great teacher, I loved him! I had him for COM 101 and fought tooth and nail to get him again for COM 102. Our final was soooo easy, all we had to do was a 2 min speech about a song that describes our life. So helpful and understanding, and very flexible. Dr. Dow rocks!!! Take him for COM, its an easy A!!!!!

Dr. Dow is awesome! Hes super funny & really nice. His class is real easy. We wrote about 5 or 6 papers. For the final you create a "text" which can be a collage/powerpt/cookbook based on what your topic has been all semester (you pick your own). I love this guy. Definitely one of my fav teachers at MVCC!!

Dr. Dow is a great teacher for Shakespeare! You can tell that he really enjoys the subject and his discussions are interesting. All you do pretty much is watch movies of the plays and write three papers. Very enjoyable class and he is a very lenient grader.

You really have to try to get a bad grade in this class I didn't do any of the homework ever and he let me make it up at the end of the semester and I got a B. He is very thoughtful and kind if you have any issues he is always willing to help you after class and he returns emails right away. He also made speaking in front of the class very easy

Amazing teacher. Does everything he can to help his students. He said he will sit with you and help you write your essay if you need it. He makes class fun and while it's not really mandatory to show up, he makes it worth your while because he keeps you interested. Some quizzes had questions like "What is today's date"? :)

A very good teacher!!! The only hard book is normally the last one you read but if you are not a reader, this class may not be for you. But this should not be too hard because he picked very good books and the ones you may not enjoy are easy to just outline the plot. He is funny and so sweet. He wants you to pass and enjoy his class. So dont sweat

TAKE DOW! This class is so easy. just keep up with the reading or sparknotes and do the 2 EASY projects and you will be fine. he want everyone to do well, so unless you literally do NOTHING in the class, you will do fine!!!

I had Prof. Dow for Literature 225 (Shakespeare) this past Fall. Prof. Dow is an excellent and very fair teacher, as well as a nice guy. He is both extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the subject of Literature. He is a very easy and fair grader. I learned a lot from him, the films we saw, and the plays we read and discussed. Take him.

Dow is really clear with his instructions for projects and goes out of his way to ensure they are understood. Not much feedback on essay work though, but he does get to the point. He is absolutely hilarious! There were not many tests or assignments, mainly reading and class discussion.

Just take him and you'll understand why he is a great lit teacher and person in general! One of my favorite professors and you just enjoy going to his class. He even bought my class pizza on the day we presented our 2nd and last project. Very easy and awesome guy, take him and you def won't regret it!

Interesting readings. No tests but you do have to do papers for midterm and final. In depth responses required and gives positive feedback. Great class. Definitely recommend.

I took Dow's 3-wk crash course. I really liked him. He truly cares about making sure his students succeed. Essays were around the same topic but responses varied. Always available for one on one questions about your papers. Quick responder to email. Following the format he tells you is crucial! Takes a lot of points off if you don't listen

The best professor I have had at moraine. He's hilarious and really wants you to learn. The class goes by so fast because you actually get to enjoy it. Do not take if you do not enjoy reading. I honestly want to take another course with him although I am done with school because he's that good at his job. I emoji going to this class every week.

Professor Dow is easy to contact. He responds to questions. He'll review papers early before they are due. He made Shakespeare easier to understand. Great teacher and made students feel comfortable. His syllabus was crystal clear. We knew the course expectations up front.

Mr. Dow is by far my favorite teacher this semester! He gets his point across and is very helpful. His lectures are relate-able and funny. Dow is a kind, helpful teacher. He's fair and understanding. Twice I had issues completing assignments due to technical difficulties and both times he understood. My only complaint is that there is a lot of reading and group work, but that's just my personal preferences. If you want a teacher who is passionate about his subject, Thomas Dow is it.

His motto was "If you're not having fun in this class we're not doing it right" Class discussions on the reading & group work but simple. Even the most awkward/shy person can enjoy this class with the group work. Its a reading class so you do read (our class schedule for reading was Tues-Thurs 50 pgs & then Thurs-Tues 100-150) He really is great!

I took Doctor Dow for the three week summer class. It seems like a lot to take in at first being that it's a 17 week class all mushed together in only three weeks, but Doctor Dow makes it so doable! He is so helpful and really wants you to succeed. Just like anything in life, you have to put in some work to get something out of it, but he is great.

The books he picked were alright. The class is almost all class discussions about the readings. The grades are based on class participation, quizzes, and four projects. If you like reading this would be a great class. If you don't like reading you will still do well but the homework will seem like a lot of work, at least it did to me.

I took Professor Dow in my first semester of college and it was during the pandemic so it was online. Even though, it was online it was manageable and organized. The professor gives enough time for each essay to get completed and gives extensions. His grading is fair and gives feedback about possible errors. 10/10 recommend this professor.

This is by far my favorite professor I've had here at Moraine Valley. He will give you the best feedback on all your essay and set up a zoom meeting if you're ever struggling. He also accepts late work if it's not a continuous cycle. I would definitely recommend anyone to take his class.

This is my second time taking Dows class fully online. The class mainly consists of discussions posts, about one a week, on mostly short readings. If you're lazy you can do a quick google but the class is so easy the least u can do is put some effort. Barely any quizzes. Everything is posted so you can work ahead. 2(easy) papers, he offers feedback

Dr. Dow is a very passionate teacher. He loves the work and loves discussing. A majority is just discussing the works assigned. There are weekly discussions that are quick and easy to do. He assigns 2-3 major projects that feed off your creativity and critical thinking, but all relate to the class. 10/10 would take any day again.

Professor Dow is an amazing caring teacher. We read 6 books throughout the semester and all of them are good with the exception that some are slow. As you read there are class discussions which he leads. He adds tons of feedback to make sure we understand what we're reading and do a lot of talking in groups. I would take him again, he's funny too!

I came on here to thank him for making this course fun and easy. the first assignment was literally just us talking about our favorite music. He made the assignments so easy to finish and always gave feedback when requested. all non essay assignments are class discussion so feedback easy

I took his 4 week online winter session course and managed it just fine. I highly recommend you all take this professor. His assignments were fun to do and will do you good.

I'm about to finish his 3 week summer online class and I would recommend him to everyone! he has daily check-ins that you write a response for that count as attendance and about 4 essays as assignments. grading criteria is very clear. Keep track of the due dates there were few I almost missed due to me misreading 11:59pm (midnight) vs 12pm (noon).

I took a 3-week summer course with this professor and I would recommend him to anyone! The course was very fast paced but he gave consistent help and feedback. He always stayed on top of grading and gave me useful annotations on my rough drafts. Overall a great professor I cant recommend enough!

Pretty easy class if you enjoy reading and read all the required material. He gives more than enough time between assignments to finish the books. Very responsive to assignment submissions and easy to contact. Midterm is easy. The projects are lengthy and time consuming but there's only 2.
