Extremely hard class, but the best professor to take for this class is Evans.
GO to class, and do assigned problems and you will do fine, HE is VERY HELPFUL!
The tests are very difficult and going to the SARC reviews will help, got a B+
Basically told me the first week that I was not accounting material. He likes to just follow the powerpoint. Not too clear about things. Not a very easy man to work with.
This is a very hard class. However, I guarantee that you will learn a lot in this class; I got a B in the class. If you are serious about being a Business student, take this class! You will have to work hard, but it will prepare you very well!
I went to Dr. Evans many times throughout the semester for help and he refused to help me! Why have office hours if you're not going to help. On the exams he tries to trick you alot so even if you know the material well you'll mess up.

hard as hell
I've now been through three full years at UCF, and Dr. Evans was by far the worst teacher I've had. He makes the material hard to understand and is of absolutely no help when you need it.
I have to disagree with the comment that he doesnt help you...Dr. Evans is MORE than willing to help you, the only reason he wouldnt help is if he KNOWS you arent coming to class. He is the nicest man...and BY FAR the best teacher in my 3 yrs at UCF
By far the best teacher to take for this class. This is a HARD class but he is very good at explaining things and always willing to help. Keep up with the homework assignments, go to class and go to his office if you have any questions he will help you
By far the BEST professor at UCF....Dr Evans is the best
This class is extremely difficult, but if you attend each class and do the homework, you can pass. The only problem I have with Evans is when he lets his TA teach, who is NO HELP AT ALL.
Thought I had died and gone to hell in his class. Im a high GPA student and my butt got kicked in his class.
he's not the worst, but there has to be someone better. You basically have to teach yourself, but the tests are too hard, but he doesn't curve, and if your grade is a 69.99999, he'll give you a D.

Nice old man who knows his stuff but probably should be an accountant and not an accounting teacher. There should be a no-weapons policy in his class because after an hour of his mono-tone boring lecture, there becomes a reasonablity for self mutalation.

He's a nice guy who will help if you need it but is pretty vague in class and his internet notes don't help. If you bust your butt you may pass.
Nice guy, almost funny, so so lectures. Difficult tests, tend to focus on some topics way too much. Had this one concept he spent 7 mintues on, and 5 out of 50 Q on test were on it! You have to read the book, and do most problems to pass the class.
Difficult professor for intro class...do your reading and make SURE you do the homework. This is not a class where you can coast; he will grill you. Very dry sense of humor. Likes Frostys from Wendy's.

Boring, will put you to sleep. Test are hard, you must go to class. If u get a 79.999, u will get a C. He doesnt round up at all. Nice guy though.
This is hard class, he is nice but his lectures and practice problems do not really cover what is on the tests. You HAVE to study everything to pass, do not slack and put things off...you WILL fail of you do this!!
You definitely can't coast in this class. Reading the book and doing the problems are a must if you want to do well, but it would be the same in any intro accounting course, since it's a lot of information you need to know. Very dry sense of humor.
You must put in extra time in order to pass this class. It is not easy at all, and he sometimes tries to trick you on tests.
DO not take this guy! His is very strict about his 'policy' and does not care for his students. When I had a beef with him I went to his director who told him to settle it and he refused!

run! get out of his class! everyone i came in contact with that had him (or still had him) either dropped his class or was having to retake it. for me...i have to retake it...and i tried really hard!
another uneccessarily hard teacher who wants to see you fail. the only reason i passed is because it was my second time taking it. he tries to trick you BEWARE!
Dr. Evans is a good teacher. The majority of people who slam him probably did not take the class seriously at the beginning.Getting off to a good start is advised. My advice would be to take him.Go to class,do the examples, and you should be fine.Funny too!
Not a bad teacher, just doesnt really put in extra effort. Hes old, and set in his ways, so if you need help, look elsewhere. Id suggest not taking his class unless youre already proficient in Accounting

he is a good teacher, doesnt expect too much on the tests just do the problems and follow along. posts notes on internet. drops some occasional jokes to keep class entertaining.
Class is really not as hard as everyone makes it out to be. I study the night before the test and do fine. Pay attention in class and you'll be okay
I thought I would never pass accounting, but I did my fist try. Go me! Mr.Evans is a great teacher. Go to CLASS! Those attendance points saved my grade. Do the homework and keep up.
He tries hard to make people laugh, and it usually works. If you do the homework and treat it seriously this class is not hard at all. I would take him again.
1st off-I retook ACG. Failing it once is common. But if I could go back I would've taken Evans the 1st time. those attendence pts are great, and if u think you'll do bad, take advantage of SARC tutoring. STAY AWAY from Veit & the Salters!!!
He's stuck in the old times, tests are very hard.
horrible teacher, horrible teaching method, horrible tests. goodluck to anyone who is planning on taking him, cuz you will be taking it a second time
Horrible Teacher. Very Old Wicked Man! Tests Extremely HARD!!! Jokes Stupid. Wish my money didnt end up in his pockets. I got an "F". But, I didnt study and only went to three classes. Those three were boring- GOOD LUCK!!
This is one of the top professors in UCF!!! He is a very good teacher. Just do your homework, and go prepared to class and you will do fine.
Dr. Evans is an anti-intellectual. He gives high marks on exams for simply regurgitating his opinions. Should you dare express actual thought, beware. He doesn't like that and your test scores will show it. Get over it, Dr. Evans!
i went in a few times to ask for some help and he was very rude. he had a bad attitude and very rudly sarcasric. go to see the TA.
he is a very rude teacher, not helpful at all and his tests are inconsistant with his teaching styles...definately dont take this class if you dont have to!
Evans is a nice guy and tries to keep his class awake by telling jokes. Be prepared to go to class every day and study study study...thats what I did and still only got a C. If at all possible, take accounting with someone else.
Poor teacher, would not reccomend.
Awful class. Awful teacher. I'm a straight A student, but thanks to him, I won't be much longer. His tests are hard and when you go in for help he is RUDE. See the TA if you need help. I would suggest taking someone else.
Professor Evans like all accounting professors here at ucf beleives in you learning the material at home by doing homework and using class time to go over that homemork. Gives awsome summaries of material from chapters. Lets you use 3x5 card on exams. He is probably one of theeasier professors.
This is the worst teacher ever!!! Don't take him if you can get a different class. But there are 6 people that teach this same class, and Evans is the only one still open. But like I said... the worst ever!!!
This man is not helpful at all. He does not know how to talk to students (very rude). Do not take Accounting w/ him. I think he enjoy seeing students fail.
The class is not that hard if you do ALL the homework problems and read the chapters. Dont expect to get help outside of class from him because he is rude to his students. If you think you will do the homework you should have no problem getting a B.
Very poor teacher. Does not teach, he expects you to learn on your own. His tests are nothing like the homework and he throws in trick questions. He does not care if all students fail. 45% of my class had to take the class over again. If you have any other choice, do not chose him.
Make sure you attend class, but more importantly you must do all the HW and understand it 100%. Tests are mostly all application questions that require thorough understanding of the accounting concepts. He is a real smart ass who loves to make fun of students so make sure u visit his TA for help.
It is hard, but very passable. Don't dare cram for this class. You need to keep up with your work, study several days in advance of test Read and Do homework before he goes over it. Tests focus on specific quantitative parts later on. It will scare you, but don't fool around, and you will pass.
Dr. Evans is a fair teacher. His Minuet papers are a good pick me up for a bad test score. It not a class you can not pay attention in and then get an A you really have to do the HW and show up every day.I wouldnt say hes hard just about even.Watch out for corney jokes.
if you go to class, and you do HWK you'll be fine.
This class is not that bad. But if you don't take it seriously you will probably not pass. Read the book, do the HMWK, and pay attention. He tries to be funny too.

Don't pay attention to these other postings, Dr. Evans is a great teacher. But you have to be willing to work hard b/c he isn't going to do the work for you. Just go to every class and DO THE HOMEWORK... it'll make your life easier.
Hard class but easier than Mrs. Hamptons class. He is smart, he has a Doctorate in Accounting theory; How you turn accounting into theory is beyond me, its pretty strait forward. But anyway, study hard for this class and maybe youll pass. The material is just tedious and boring, so coffee is a must.
WORST TEACHER AT UCF!!!!!
This guy is not as bad as everyone says. Anyone said he sucks probably has brain complications. Go to class and do ur work, if you dont understand he will help you. Tests are straight forward, so if you fail, it is your own fault.
Evans needs to retire. He knows his stuff but tries to trick you on the tests. The minute papers are rediculous, almost impossible to get them all. He focuses on class conduct way too much and needs to just teach the class...he's a joke! DON'T TAKE HIM! FORCE HIM INTO RETIREMENT!!!!!!!
Worst professor ever. Boring. Spent too much time trying to discipline the auditorium. After the first class I only went half the time so I could do his required minute papers. Pretty boring material too. If you have a hard time paying attention, don't take in auditorium!
Very strict with syllabus and rules. Does discipline, but teaches well. Wording on tests is a little tricky. It's a difficult class so keep up with the reading and do the work. Not as bad as everyone says. He's willing to help you.
Teacher was tough but fair on tests, had to study alot. Was too focused on discipling class, felt like i was back in middle school, couldnt even get up to go to the bathroom because he would single you out. Do minute papers and study and youll be fine.
The worst teacher ever. Ever see the Clear eye commercial, "If you have red eye, use clear eye" .So boring 90% of the class falls asleep. Dont take this class. This guy is so paranoid about people talking and cell phones ringing its rediculous its as if hes on a power trip because he dosent get laid
This is one of the worst teachers ever. If you approach him after class he blows you off and tells you to go talk to his assistant. He doesnt listen to anything you have to say, and he doesnt seem to care about your grade. He must have a small pe nis
I dont know where these positive reviews are coming from, but this guy is absolutely horrible! If you come to him after class he simply blows you off. Total fascist!
Eh, the minute papers are not that hard. I only did about 6 (out of 12) and somehow got credit for 9. I would reccomend studying and getting a tutor. I had a tutor for test 2 and scored a 97. He likes to abbreviate things too much and the pen he uses on the overhead is too thick you cannot read it.
Warning: must go to class, read the chapter and do the homework problems. I hate doing work just as much as the next student, but you can not even get by with a C without actually working. He always sticks to the syllabus. Can be a bit insensitive, but overall great teacher. I actually learned.
Dr. Evans is an awesome teacher!! He just does NOT put up with students goofing off, be serious about your work. The class is hard but I got an A. I went to his office hours so I could learn things I was confused about. It is not an easy class but he is a great teacher. Make sure you READ and do the homework. I would recommend this teacher any day!
BIGGEST JERK! Stuck in his ways, needs to work on his communication skills. Tests were very hard, he was very unclear in describing material, just assumed you understood it. Very rude, called students out unnecessarily!
The class isn't as bad as everyone says. The material is not that hard if you actually read!! Dr. evans explains everything fine (just listen). Just watch out for exam 3. got A's on all except that one.
Definitely not the easiest professor. He is very willing to offer the services of his TA if you are having trouble. Watch out for bad jokes, a nice guy... tries too hard at times to be liked. And he rolls his hands a lot - DISTRATING! Read the book, do the problems, you will be fine.
This subject is hard & the prof. doesn't really help it. You will probably fall asleep in class at least twice. I haven't asked for extra help, but I've heard he's not very useful. All notes are online though, and you are allowed to bring a notecard to help on exams. Probably one of the more difficult classes you'll have, but you'll survive.
run for the hills
Umm... what the guy below me said. I'm sure Joe loved his class though! You have to do these g@y problems to kinda understand the material. I don't recommend him to anyone. The Final Exam sucks, tests are riduculously hard, my highest grade in this class was a B on one exam, Cs on others, A's in other classes, unbelieveable
The Class is hard. The test are harder, wording isn't clear. I went to him for help and still am going to have to retake the class. He's a very nice guy.I just think that if you don't have a base in accounting don't take him. Try to get a teacher that'll break it down a little more. Seens he's used to advanced students.
Accounting theory was not bad, the tests were UTTERLY HARD! Grad school is harder but this guy would talk about chapters for hours and not include them on the tests. Overall, he wants people to talk in class but he makes you feel uncomfortable when you do.
very clear on what we needed to know, all notes are online... but the tests are pretty hard
Dont take him unless you understand or like accouting..otherwise take a teacher that will make things easier for you
His dry humor is pretty bad. You need to do the work and study to pass. Getting a good grade on the first exam means nothing. Makes you feel like an idiot for walking up and asking him something. Likes to stop class just to tell one late person to sit in the back. Gets very annoyed at every little mishap in his lectures. Find a better professor.
accounting is difficult in itself, but he is a bad teacher. i think that he is really rude to his students. you have to study your behind off to pass this class.gives 15 points extra credit but doesnt curve nething.go to sarc and get help.try to get another teacher.the third test and the final are hard.difficlut class..i have to retake the class ;(
I earned a 69.5. My first test was a B, 2nd D, 3rd C, and got a D on the final. I did all the e.c. and only missed one lecture. I actually tried and studied a lot, but this professor does not understand that everyone is not an accounting major. Behinde the scene Evans was was rude and reluctant to let me see my exams. Now im retaking the course.thx
CAUTION!!! This teacher should be taken as a last choice. What everyone else has said is true. He is very sarcastic, rude, and is boring...I mean bleeding through the eyes boring. His first test was easy, but the third and final are hard. Dont be late to class or he will stop class, and point you out in front of all. All I have to say is STUDY!!!

He's not bad if you study like crazy and try not to tick him off in class. He has a VERY clear syllabus with VERY clear do's and dont's, so just follow those and you won't have any horror stories. :)
Oh my gosh...you actually have to do work for an A in this class. He is not that bad if you actually put some effort into coming to class and learning the material. If you do this an A is definately manageable. He definately knows his stuff and will give any accounting major a good foundation to build on.

Wow... a lot of the people on here are very... lazy... show up ON TIME and do the work and you'll be fine, B or higher.
He is not a nice person, tries to make people feel dumb, but he is very smart, the only good thing is there is no homework to turn in, just 4 tests which are kind of hard. But if you study you should be ok, he is just an ****.
evans sucks. he is not helpful or approachable whatsoever and hes the most boring lecturer i have had so far at UCF. the only good thing about this class is the fact that you can have notecards for the exams, and there is no hw to be handed in. students pretty much have to work together to teach themselves because nobody wants to get help from him
HORRIBLE!!! This teacher should be an accountant if he's so smart b/c he sucks at teaching. He enjoys making people fail and belittling them when you ask a question. He has a thousand rules and 12pg. syllabus. He's extremely arrogant. I'm a A/B student and got a C+ in his class...unbelievable.
He is the rudest professor ever.Come to class and do the xtra credit cuz it helps and take notes.Allowed to use note cards on the test.It is possible to get a B or A.If you dont get it from the start seek additional help ASAP!But as for his personal character,he SUCKS!Take another professor if possible and watch out for the third test...HARD!
Expectations for term paper and essay tests are not clear. If you are not a mind reader, avoid this professor. Actual teaching decent, class material and text fine.
Reads from the powerpoints. Found my time better spent reading the book on my own, and as such I attended only for tests and the class after the tests.
Honestly, this was one of the worst professors Ive ever had. I am an A student, but this was the first B I have gotten in my major. This professor was a jerk and would take points off for the dumbest mistakes like not titling something properly. He was flat out rude and acted like he was better than everyone. Doesnt care about your success.
