he knows what he's talking about but the test are impossible. take really good notes and always go to class and then you might pass
this class is absolutely ridiculous and professor faux makes it even harder. he expects us to be experts on everything... and tests are impossible. study and you might pass them... and by pass i mean a d. i went to class, studied hard, and am still praying for a b when finals are done. hardest i've EVER worked in a class, and it's a gen ed :(
Go to class as much as possible, even though he doesn't take attendance. Everyday is a lecture where he talks really fast and you write down everything he says verbatim. If you memorize the notes and listen to the music exampless enough, you will probably do OK. He tells you exactly what will be on the test. I got an A but worked my butt off!
Class is very boring and monotonous, he is very knowledgeable though. He has altered his tests so they are much easier now. Don't buy the book, take notes and memorize the listening selections.
This class is very interesting. He really knows what he is talking about. I would definitely attend class to get notes. He tells you exactly whats on the test including vocab and songs but you have to have the material to back it up. Dont need to buy the book.
Awesome teacher. Monotone but you can tell he's really interested in what he does. The music is different... but interesting and he makes it enjoyable. MAKE SURE you go to class and get the notes, that's the whole class. He'll let you know exactly what's on the tests but expects you to understand the listening section, so actually listen
Decent teacher. Lectures were really boring but a must to attend. Didn't use a textbook which was nice. Tests were fairly easy although took a while to get grades posted on blackboard.
All about lectures, do not buy the book. There are not even really assigned readings, just his lectures. Go to the class for best grades, but it is more important to go on review days, he kinda just tells you whats on the test. Know the listening to get better grades
This guy is boring as hell but study for tests and you will be ok, go to review. Go to his office hours and suck up for end of semester points because he plays favorites. He will curve some massively and others not at all.
Great teacher, very informative and passionate about what he teaches - makes it interesting
He is boring. Terrible notes with terrible spelling, and terrible. pronunciation. "Teaches" until the end of class and beyond. Irrelevant test questions that shouldn't be applied in a Music class. It's not an easy A, but an A is do able if you have time to study constantly.
I had him at 8am and he was very boring. I got an A and NEVER went to class except for the class before the exam. That is when he reviews, and he gives you literally everything you need to get an A on the test. He loves music, but he is a pretty bad teacher. Very boring, and he reads directly from his notes for an hour and 15 minutes.
Mr. Faux's class was interesting. Altough attendence isn't mandatory, I suggest going because all the material on the test is giving to you in lecture. The only complain I have is how long it takes to grade test. 1st test I got a 61 for not going to class after going 3rd4th test I got 95's. Take Faux if you want to learn about music and have and ea
Loved Faux! He was the nicest guy, loves what he does, and curved the test when a lot of people didn't do good. You do have to go to class, but that's kinda the point of school. The material is super easy and straight forward, got an A on all 3 tests.
this class is all memorization. If you can memorize the 30ish vocab words HE GIVES YOU on the study guide the day before the test there is no reason u should not get an A.
This was a very interesting class. He is a very dry person, but if you take notes and come to class, it's an easy A.
Class is very boring, so it's hard to pay attention in his class. There isn't a textbook, and there are 2 tests and then a final exam. Got a B in the class and never went. He gives you all of the vocab terms on the review day before the tests. Make sure to listen to the listening examples, they are on exams.
No book! Easygoing guy, passionate about what he teaches. He has a review day where he tells you everything you need to know for the upcoming test. You'll have to study if you just go to that day. But if you attend class regularly, the tests are extremely easy. Three tests and that's it. Go to class, pay enough attention, and you'll get an A.
Great professor, nice, easy going, and is an excellent teacher. He is extremely knowledgeable of different cultures of music and shows tons of interesting bands and styles. Perfect example of how you only need an overhead projector and a good teacher to make a great course. Study the terminology and listening samples and you'll get an A.
Basically go to class and take notes and you should be fine. There are 3 exams each 40 mult choice. They aren't bad as long as you study a bit and go over your notes. Sometimes is boring, but you don't need the book and overall it's an easy class. Prof Faux is nice and easygoing. Definitely take him.
Take this class if you're looking for an easy A! Prof. Faux is so nice too! Go to class, pay attention, and review the vocab before the exam and you'll be fine!!
If you attend class, take notes and go over the study guides, you will do well in the class. You do have to study the material for this class in order to get an A. Also, he does put questions on the test that aren't on the study guide. He does drone so it can be hard to focus in his class, but he is very knowledgeable about music.
Make sure to go to class. He plays some movies and explains the vocab list with the same definition on the tests on review days. Also go on blackboard and LISTEN to the music audio he posts because those will be on the test. Would've gotten an A if I remembered the music.
Great teacher. Goes over everything you need to know for the test before each test and has a video for each test. Sometimes is hard to go to class but all around good guy
I definitely recommend taking this class with Faux. Attendance is not mandatory. I went most of the time but didnt have to stress when i had to miss a class or two. If you do decide to go, everything he teaches in lecture is exactly what is on the test. Anything else you need to know, he will post on black board. very easy class.
Attendance isn't mandatory. Grades only consist of exams & offers no extra credit. But if you want an easy A & don't mind going to class, then I recommend taking Dic.ker for Mus152.
Faux is very clear about what is going to be on the test in the notes. Attendance is semi-mandatory if you cant get notes from someone else or havent seen the movies. He gives you a clear study guide for each test and the listening examples on BB are an important part of it. No textbooks. All in all, easy class and a good teacher.
Class if not too difficult. I did not go to class except for the review days and received a high B. Just go to the review day, do the study guide, and listen to the music and you will do fine. Only thing that is terrible able this class is that 3 exams make up your grade and that is it.
3 tests all semester. If you go to review days it is an easy test and class.
Boring class. I only went on the review days and my final grade was a 89.4%. He gave me the A. He gives all the test questions and answers on the review days so missing class is not a big deal. With that and the help of studyblue.com I did well. I would have a high A if i put more time into studying. Study/memorize the listening examples!
An easy class to knock out the Gen. Ed. requirement. Show up to the review sessions and listen to the online examples and you will do fine.
There is no textbook and easy class. Don't really have to go to class to pass it. Only draw back is that the ONLY grades in this class are two tests and a final. So if you do bad on the test then you will be in trouble. If you study and do well on the tests then you are good. EASY GEN ED
Very easy to understand. Has a good sense of humor and you can tell he's passionate about his subject. Ask him to bring his banjo and accordion to class!
His class was not the most interesting but hey its a gen ed! This class was SO easy! He loves answering any questions!! class is not mandatory but you need to go! all of his tests are from the notes and movies! pen paper take notes! nothing else! breeze through!
He seems like a good guy but this class is just way too boring for me. I'm not a music guy but it's safe to say that this guy is so for anyone looking to learn more about music, this class is for you!
No textbook or homework which is nice. I recommend this class because it is mainly just learning vocabulary terms from lecture and there is absolutely no outside work. Only drawback is the lectures are so painfully boring to sit through. Take this class, not hard to get an A and guaranteed to get a B if you go to the review
This class is easy and interesting. No textbook, tests are straight from the notes. He is monotonous but as long as you go to class and take notes, you'll get a good grade.
Mr Faux is a very boring teacher but this is a very easy gen ed class! the only classes you need to go to are the review and test days and youre guaranteed an a or b in the class. he basically gives you the answers for the tests review days. and the only grades are tests. so take this if you need a fine arts gen ed and dont wanna have to go to clas
Most people who take this class are not music majors and it's usually just an elective so let me say this - this is not a blowoff class! Grade is solely based on tests so showing up and taking good notes is crucial. Faux explains things well and is passionate about what he teaches but it can get boring. Taught like a history class.
Mr. Faux is a great teacher, friendly, and passionate about the subject. His class is long and gets boring but the material is very interesting. He also plays great films and listening examples that are helpful. There's no books or homework which was great. Attendance and note taking are crucial, though. If you do both, you'll probably get an A.
Easy class but you need to actually go to class since there's no textbook. He's a nice guy and I feel bad for him because I'm half-asleep at 8am. In all honesty, his tests are not hard. They're bubble-filling tests and in my opinion, don't require much to study (well, that is if you liked music). He plays instruments in class too, which is cool.
He's super nice and helpful!
Nice guy, but class is soooo boring! if i were you i would just take the theater class where you make a lip dub. This class is based off only 3 test grades so if you get a B and a C on the first 2 then you cant get an A in the class very easily.
This class was soooo boring!!! I only went to class for the exams and I got an A. Just make sure you fill out the study guide and you're good.
I went to class 6 times (review and test) and got an A. With that being said I also spent 6 hours at least prepping for each test and memorized everything from the reading notes and the study guide terms.
DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS. Everyone says it's easy but it is actually hard because there are only three tests. This professor is a nice guy and rounds up but there's not much he can help you with. I am an A student and struggled to get a B in this class. I wish I had never taken it.
Go to class for the A. I went to half of the classes and was one question away from receiving an A in the class. He is a good teacher but there are only a few tests which make it hard to get an A in the class. Study the most for the second exam.
Very boring lectures, but a very easy A. You only need to go to the review days, fill out the study guides, and listen to the listening guides at least 3 times through. I probably studied for an hour or two for each of the three tests and recieved an A without problem.
Only graded on 3 exams. Final isn't cumulative. Review before test is pretty much the test itself. Listening examples are a must. Easy B, gotta work for the A.
Easy A, super nice, definitely knows what he's teaching you. There are few tests and they are very easy.
Maybe the easiest class I have ever taken. If you go to class and pay attention, plus listen to the listening resources, its an easy A.
Incredibly fun class. Faux is extremely passionate about what he teaches and has a great time while he does it. No, attendance isn't mandatory - but go. I learned so much about a subject that I previously did not have much interest in.
Your grade is based only one three tests which are 100% based on the lectures. Easy A as long as you came to class. Only complaint was that he doesn't read emails. Take notes. I would suggest to use the study guide and take notes on that.
This is one of the most boringest and useless classes at ISU. Only about 1/5 of the class shows up to lectures. He is kind and very passionate about the subject but its basically a history class of different countries. Theres only 3 tests so if you do bad on one, your doomed thats why this is hard class. Take online.
Possibly one of the easiest classes at ISU. Class is boring and optional, and you can get by with only attending review days and test days. He goes over EVERYTHING on the test on the review day so going to class regularly is pointless. Super easy A, tests are relatively short and all multiple choice vocab questions.
Very boring class, but very easy class. Prof. Faux is very passionate about music and knows his material. Lectures are kind of pointless, but that's where you get all the material for the test. There are only 3 tests also, so be sure to do good on those or else you might be screwed.
This class is so boring that it's hard to pay attention, but it's easy and a lot of the material is common sense. You watch a lot of boring documentaries. He doesn't even use PowerPoint- he literally just talks at you. There is no attendance grade, but if you don't go to class, you won't know what's going on.
Fun doing work in bed if you know what I mean...
This class is very boring, but very easy. I actually went to class unlike most people which makes studying for tests a little bit easier. Most students only go to the review day because he literally goes over everything on the study guide and gives you all the answers you need. Your grade consists of only 2 tests and the final.
Your whole grade is only based off of 3 tests each worth 30%, 30% & 40% of your grade. Study the listening examples the most because for tests 2 & 3 you have to remember a paragraph about each song, and it is very difficult. I went to every class & studied and still ended up with a B. Have to have a good memorization to get by in this class.
Professor Faux is a knowledgeable man who seems passionate about music. This class wasn't the most entertaining & I rarely showed up, but as long as you go to the review days (the class before an exam) you will acquire all the info you need for the test besides memorizing some info on a handful of songs. Very easy class with minimal effort needed.
He really loves what he's talking about and talks about music in different cultures which is cool but can get mono toned . He writes down key points but that's it so you need to go and take notes. If you don't go you will fail. Make sure you know the listening portion of the test! That is so important and do the study guide.
Thomas is a pretty solid guy. Someone could pretty easily only show up on review days and still pass with a C. Make sure to study for the exams though, and do the listening!! I can't stress that enough
Lectures are long boring. He is very monotone and talks the whole time. There are only tests in the class but he gives plenty of opportunities for extra credit. You only need to show up for the review day and study the music and review sheet and you can get an A easily.
His only grades are the four tests, but don't worry because they are insanely easy. He is super chill and knows what he is talking about. Show up to the review class before the test and you will get 90 guaranteed.
Tom Faux is a well informed professor who is really into his subject matter and knows a lot about it. Lectures are very informative and easy to listen to, and he tells you exactly what to write down. Exams are based off of your notes and music listened to in class. Grades are based on a few exams and extra credit opportunities. Easiest gen ed ever.
hes a good teacher but the only grades are tests (beside extra credit)
Very nice man but wont Budge when hearing excuses. Coming to class is crucial because there is no book so everything thats going to be on the 4 exams is going to be what he covers in class. Some people only come for the review days for the exams i woudnt recommend it come as much as possible for a good grade. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT Very helpful.
I recommend this class! He is nice and tests are easy
The whole class is easy
Show up to class, take the notes and you'll pass.
No homework, no quizzes, just four tests. I went to the class but really if you went to the review session before the test/learn the listening's you can get an A on each. Cool guy.
This class is just remembering vocab, no book, no outside work. The information is pretty boring but if you show up you'll do fine. He gives you a lot of unnecessary information in the lectures which is annoying. Study guide covers more than what will be on test but if you're familiar with the info you'll get a decent grade. Easy A
Do not take this class if you are looking for an easy GPA booster. This class is very difficult if you are not into music at all. Not just listening to music but knowing the history on it too. I took this class as a fine art and it is very difficult... I am struggling to get a B. 1/10 do not recommend.
Good teacher. All grades are exams, just try, study, and you'll get an A.
Thomas Faux is a really great lecturer. Some may say he's dry, but he really knows his stuff. Tests are straight forward and you're told exactly what you'll be asked. Lecture is not mandatory. People fail this class/do poorly because they simply do not study listening or at all. Study and you will pass at least, if not get an A or B.
Not a fan of the whole 4 tests only to decide you're grade. If you are not into music this class is pretty hard. You need to study to pas and attend the review sesiones. Great guy but a really hard class.
I think I went to class 5 times the whole semester and stopped going because I kept falling asleep because all he does is talk. I passed with a C because all you need to know are definitions which he posts online. You also need to know songs and what definition goes with that song which is the most difficult thing on the test. I wish I tried harder
Faux is an amazing guy who really knows his stuff. Sure, his lecture might be a bit dry from time to time, but bring your laptop and just make sure to take down the notes he writes on his whiteboard. Look over your notes for five minutes every day and listen to the material, and you'll pass with an A. If you don't show up, you won't pass.
Great teacher and a fairly fun class. A lot of listening to music and learning a liitle about it. Unlikely to be anything you recognize or would listen to on a daily basis. Over all though, super easy class.
Prof. Faux runs a good class if you're looking to get your fine-art credit out of the way. The lectures can get boring if you aren't interested in them but he provides everything you need to know on reggie-net so you can self-study for tests if needed. If you're doing that at least go the day before each test since he does a very useful review.
This class is not terrible but his teaching style is so dry I have to drink a large coffee to stay awake most days. I recommend taking the online course but overall it is an easy A as long as you do well on the exams
Music 152 is by far the easiest class to take if you need a fine arts requirement. All you need to do is show up for the tests and you'll be fine. All the tests answers are on quizlet too so don't worry about having to take notes.
class is boring, but if you do the work and study you should get an A
Class is lecture only, but very interesting! If you don't come to class you probably won't get an A, though you may pass. He will write down what you need to know but anything he says is fair game on a test, so pay attention! No homework; grade is based on test scores. If you have any interest in music you will ENJOY this class and instructor!
Grade is based completely on four tests, so make sure to study. He posts the study guide online, but you need to go to class for the vocab, especially the class right before the test. No homework but he does offer extra credit.
Faux was a super laid back teacher, only classes that you really need to show up to is the review days. He offers extra credit and holds review sessions outside of classes too if needed.
The lectures are easy to sit through and content isnt hard. youre graded off of only 4 tests, 40 questions a piece. 12 of the questions are about a clip of music. He doesnt talk enough about content thats actually going to be on the exams and its up to you to study
Professor Faux is a great teacher. Offers lots of extra credit. Your grade is 4 exams total and your extra credit. Super easy material even for non-music people. You have to go to lecture because he does not post lecture notes online. Super easy class, he spells out exactly what you need to know. Really nice guys, cares for his students.
One of the easiest classes I've ever taken by far. All you have to do is show up, take good notes, and you'll do fine. The material is very easy to understand as well and he goes through what will be on the test.
If you don't go to class you will not pass the tests. Lectures and content is easy, it's just the listening part on tests that is what kills you. Very clear about expectations from the start, nice guy but comes off as kinda arrogant. Hard class to have as an 8am. Bring coffee or find a different time.
as long as u go to class and take notes, pay attention, & review the listening a lot before test but super easy
I loved this class and this professor is so sweet! The actual nicest guy ever, always is down to help others when needed. Due to covid, the class was asynchronous, so if you do decide to take this class make sure you watch the lectures and listen to the music he gives in order to do well on the tests! Highly recommend taking this class!!!!
He is an amazing professor who has your interest in mind. His tests are easy and straight from your notes. Listen and recognize the music. There are descriptions for each song that help a lot. Extra credit is easy. You can sing, play an instrument, or hit pots. Easy A. Attend class in-person/online and you'll get the grade you want.
Just take notes during the lecture. Easiest gen ed for Fine Arts.
Professor Faux was super chill and I really wish I was able to take this class with him in person because it wouldve been even better than it already was. Exams are open note, so if you pay attention and take notes its an easy A.
4 tests, all based off of lectures and listening examples. Kind of monotonous and the lectures are pretty long, but he's also very kind. Offers ec for exams which is easy. Overall grade is based on the tests and ec if you do it. Very knowledgeable and played music at the start of lectures. Hard to pay attention so I'm not sure if I would take again
easy A just watch the lecture videos
Four total exams are the only grades in this class. Exams are open notes and relatively easy as long as you watch the lectures. Really nice professor who gives students every chance to do well. Lectures are long, but you can watch them whenever you want. Does a great job covering what is on tests. I know nothing about music and did well. Fun class!
Very easy class, lectures are straight forward and he is very passionate about what he teaches. Take good notes and pay attention, and just be an overall good student and you will get an easy A. Very stress free class to take.
Only 5 things were added into the grade book. 4 Exams that were more like quizzes and the final that was also basically a quiz. Half is vocal and the other half is listening audios. As long as you go to lectures and take notes youll do fine. Hes very chill and plays his instruments all the time, learned a lot about different music cultures
He was a good teacher but your only grades in the class are your 4 tests and a few extra credit. There's also a quizlet for every test that helps. You have to attend class to pass, it's easy but if you don't go you will fail.
This class is very easy if you put in even the slightest effort. Professor Faux is a nice guy who very much knows his stuff. If you are a musician or into music, there is something to take from the class. There are four exams with multiple extra credit opportunities. Take notes and listen to the listening assignments and you'll do fine.
Write everything down from lecture and listen to the music examples and you'll pass. No lecture slides. You'll watch 3 movies during the semester in class. Your grade is all exam based. He brought in his banjos one time and played for our class. He has some cool stories he tells about musicians he's met and worked with. Offers Extra credit a lot.
Easy class, but your grade is based off of 4 exams. As long as youre taking notes, going to class, and doing the listening, youll pass. Hes a goofy guy and he sometimes brings in musical instruments to play for the class.
You need to show up to class to pass. He came across as not prepared because there is no information given outside of class, and he doesnt teach with preprepared material. Take notes the entire lecture and listen to assigned songs in order to pass. Class is strictly based off 4 exams. 6 points of extra credit is all that is offered.
Make sure to attend class and take notes. Your grade is only based of tests and six extra credit opportunities are given. Lectures can get boring
I literally hated this class. He never actually taught anything. This is the definition of teaching yourself. As someone with no prior musical education Im not sure how I was expected to pass this course. Thank god for Quizlet.
This is a very easy gen ed. You need to go to lectures and take notes in order to do well, but thats about it. Theres very little work outside of class. The 4 multiple choice tests were easy. Most of the questions are just definitions that he clearly talks about in class. Other than that, just make sure you listen to the music samples he provides
THIS CLASS IS A JOKE. I have been a musician for 14 years and his class turned into more history than music. He was not understanding about when I missed an Exam due to Covid and he expected me to take the exam the day I came back to class even when I had a two week written excuse to only get better and do no school work. Lectures are very boring.
Lectures are boring, but important that you go and take good notes. Sometimes it seemed more like a history class than a music class. Always attend the lecture before an exam as he gives you all the answers to the study guide and if you memorize that & have an understanding of the listening assignments, you'll get an A. He offers some extra credit.
If you come to class (or at least get notes), you'll get an A. Even if you don't show up, exams are fairly easy and you'll pass the class. The class can be boring to people who aren't interested in music, but I enjoyed it.
The class is exam based, four exams full credit and a max of six extra credit points. If you don't do good on one or two exams it will completely mess up your grade. He says to go to class to take good notes and pass the exams but just go to the review where he talks about the answers to the SG and you will be fine. Just understand the terms.
This class is literally just 4 tests and none of them are that hard if you just study for a little while. He makes it so easy to pass the only class you actually need to go to is the review session before every test.
Amazing lectures that were really interesting. Test-heavy course with listening examples. Don't skip his class, the lectures are necessary to pass. Had no issues with taking this course and he seems to know his stuff. Definitely give him a try!
The notes are important. I didnt go to class and passed with a C but dont do what I did even if you go on review days its still hard to catch up. Keep up on the listening activities
Great Professor! This class was perfect for getting the Gen Ed credit, and he knows most people are there for just that. Keep taking notes in class, and you'll be good for the 4 tests in the class. He has a review session during the class period before a test, which goes over everything needed to do well on the tests. I recommend!
Only take this class if you are great at taking exams and don't mind sitting through boring lectures. Nothing is posted on Reggienet except the listening examples you must listen to for exams. Grades are based on 4 exams and up to 6 points extra credit. I personally would not recommend this class.
Don't take this class if you're bad at tests. Dr. Faux is really intelligent and passionate about his teachings, but he can be a little stale sometimes. He comes off as really hoity toity but if you get to know him, he's a cool guy. His tests come off as easy if you actually show up, and during lectures he makes it obvious for what's important
Best Fine Arts Gen Ed. Good lectures and a funny guy. 4 tests and each one has about 30 vocab questions and 10 questions on identifying a piece of music. You can ace the test by simply studying quizlet and go in the day before the test bc he practically goes over all of the questions. He also offers enough EC to move your grade a full letter.
Not a bad professor but the only 4 grades the entire semester are the 4 exams. Therefore, if you get a bad grade on one exam, you're not getting a good grade in the class. The tests wouldn't be hard, but he adds the listening questions to it, which makes it pretty hard. I've never gotten a B in a class, but this will be my first.
Only thing in the grade book is tests that are out of 100 points and extra credit which is only worth 1 point. If you fail one test, you will have a bad grade until you do good or better on the next test. If given the opportunity to take it online, do that because students have said that it was way easier and less stressful.
Talks a lot but information is relatively interesting. Grade is composed of four really easy vocab tests. Easy class if you take notes and learn the vocab.
Easiest class I've ever taken. Only 4 tests based on vocab and a few listenings which aren't bad at all. Sometimes his lectures are boring mainly due to the material, but he does give a lot of information. You could get by without going to class but he does go in depth about the vocabulary during lectures.
This class was easy if you show up and take good notes. He does a good job with testing on stuff he goes over in class and explains it well. Grade is only determined by tests.
Super disrespectful over email. I would not recommend this professor if you want to be able to skip sometimes. Only grades are the exams and extra credit
Not many grades so if you're a bad test taker beware, but if you show up to class and pay attention you'll be fine. He's very passionate about the topic so I thought the lectures were interesting.
There is only 3 exams+final exam. Show up to lectures if you want to pass or at minimum show up on review days. It's a interesting class but it's nothing overly exciting. Be sure to study vocab words and listen to some of the provided music listening. He offers extra credit but it isn't enough to rely on Easy class+take notes+show up+study = pass
Funny. Gives extra credit which is you singing or playing an instrument. Lectures are long and he can drag, but he let's you out early normally. Tests aren't too bad, but his music taste is. Just bare it and you'll be cool. An easy A.
Dr. Faux knows his stuff and I highly respect him but do not agree with his grading criteria even though it was easy. You have 4 tests that each make up 25% of your grade. I just went to class on review and test days and got an A but I feel this system forces people to learn the material rather than enjoy it. Hope you're good at memorizing.
He thinks he is a very good musician but in all honesty this is more of a history class and memorizing things and forgetting them right after. He is very rude over email and makes the class more difficult than it needs to be for a gen ed.
His lectures are very easy to understand and he will tell you all the information that's going to be on the test. Make sure you go to class frequently and get notes when you don't go and you will be all set for the tests. There are only 4 tests and they are your only grades, but they are easy if you go over the study guide and listening example.
Faux is a knowledgeable professor and his class is very lecture heavy; nothing is posted online and everything on the tests come from the notes. The exams are also the only things in the gradebook.
No homework other than the eight extra credit opportunities. The extra credit is super easy and definitely worth it as the only grades in the class are 4 exams and extra credit. Each extra credit is worth 4 test questions. This class is very interesting and easy but showing up to lectures is a must.
Very boring at times, but an easy A if you take notes or even just go to class before the exams to go over the test. Graded on just the 4 tests, but are very easy.
I liked Faux a lot. He is extremely passionate and knowledgeable about music so his lectures were often interesting, though long. Four multiple-choice exams in the course, extra credit is submitting a video of you doing anything that's musical. Take notes and show up to class and it should be an easy A.
Faux is a good old boring professor. Every class is just a long lecture that will sometimes put you to sleep. The class is easy if you go to the review day before an exam as he goes over everything on the test. No homework in the class other than extra credit and the only real grades you have are 4 exams.
You only have the 4 exams (not cumulative), but you can go up by like an entire letter grade from extra credit he gives. He makes it fun, but it is very much history and memorizing sounds. He's very wise and wants to share his knowledge and will talk to you after class if you want about music!
This professor is very knowledgeable and lectures his content very well. This class is super easy if you just show up and take notes. He is very nice and cares about his students.
Super nice. He writes off a whiteboard which seems like a lot at the beginning but makes things easier. If you show up and take good notes and actually listen, you wont have to study much. Be sure to take good notes (do it on paper, makes it better). He is awesome and one of my favorite profs I have had.
FOR MUS 156. Honestly in my opinion the class is an easy A. All you have to do is go to class and study a little bit and you'll be fine. On the first day of class, he states that there is no book to read but you have to go to class in order to get the notes. He writes on a whiteboard but he underlines everything that is important.
Professor Faux's lectures are engaging, though attendance is a must. The class relies heavily on notes, with 4 exams as the only grades. Extra credit opportunities help boost the grade. unstuck AI's flashcards and practice quizzes were invaluable for acing the exams.
This class only had 4 grades which are all tests. He doesn't use textbooks so be ready to take notes. Make sure to show up even though attendance isn't mandatory. The lectures can be boring but he gives you information to remember for the tests. The review day before the test is crucial as he goes over everything that is going to be on the tests.
For MUS 156: He writes key terms on his whiteboard under the projector and elaborates on them in great detail during lectures. Exams are not hard if you listen and take good notes; memorizing vocab is essential. He definitely gets funnier as the semester goes on. Overall I enjoyed his teaching style and the content of the course.
My final straw was him saying Texas Hold' Em by Beyonce was country. 0/100
MUS 156: He was just a chill guy playing the banjo. Only 4 tests and 6 extra credit opportunities. Everything was really easy.
very boring class! i almost fell asleep so many times because of how boring it was. I'm not trying to be mean, but his voice is also very monotone, so it's just hard to even pay attention. It's hard to pay attention to what i'm trying to learn. very lecture heavy
The course is 4 exams and extra credit. You need to show up to class to get the content. I had this course at 8am therefore, it was kind of hard to pay attention cause I was tired lol. I learned a lot more about music I otherwise would have never known, No complaints, the only thing is sometimes it's hard to get in contact with the professor.
Faux is chill—projects the notes he takes during his presentations, which are the only important ones to jot down. Four exams (40 questions each) including final, three extra credit opportunities (two points each), which can be along the lines of making a cover of a song. If you can show up and take notes, you will do well in this class.
This is one of the easiest classes you can take for the humanities general education credit. Thomas Faux clearly writes down everything that you should take for notes. There is no homework outside of class but if you want to do well you must go to class.
Showing up to class is all you have to do. He writes everything on a whiteboard you need to know. He also does a review before exam day, and if you look that over a few times, you will do perfectly fine. My only complaint is the lectures did drag on. Boring class but Easy A.
Lectures were quite boring, the hardest part of this class was staying awake. Go to the exam review day, these are very helpful. You're only graded on exams and an extra cred opportunity. I did have an issue with one of the exams that the professor quickly corrected. Show up everyday, write something down once in a while and you should be fine.
The tests are multiple choice and there is extra credit to send him a video of you making music. Nothing else is graded. It is an easy class. There is a review day before every test.
This class is definitely an easy gen-ed fine arts credit. There are only 4 exams including the final, and the day before an exam he has a review day where he goes over everything you need to know. Attendance isn't mandatory, but can be helpful for the listening portion of the exams. You can also send in extra credit of you creating music at home!
If u take Adderall and drink a red bull you might be able to pay attention. His unenthusiastic voice makes lectures extremely boring and hard to pay attention to. I stare into his soul every morning at 8am n still manage to fail the tests. Anyone aspiring to be an artist or musician do not take this class unless you like old boring music history.
Graded only by 4 easy tests with many extra credit opportunities. Attendance isn't taken, but no lecture materials are posted, so coming to class is necessary. Recaps of the previous lecture are given every class, so it's easy to retain information. Show up, take notes, and you will pass with a high grade.
If you have to take this professor and plan on going to lecture, have an energy drink ready for every class. If you don't you will fall asleep. Genuinely the most boring professor i've ever had, he just drones on about nothing.
