Has an uncanny ability to make the most difficult concepts easily understandable. Good examples and models, and always has interesting stories to tell.
He's an excellent teacher. It's all in the notes. He has excellent slides, they're very helpful.
Best professor I ever had!
He is an awesome teacher! He makes everything interesting and easy to understand.. I actually looked forward to his lectures
Very good, not boring, and knows his stuff... even in a lecture hall of 400 students, he will answer question, both during and after class... I recommend this guy.
Everything sounded so easy in class. but when his exams come it's like there from a different book. So study really hard for exams.
Used power point presentations, very good at explaining topics, fair grading. Good teacher
this class was dual bio5080 & psy 5080...kind of challenging for a bio major, but dr. fischer combined the two classes very well. i learned A LOT! he offers extra credit at the end of the course (20 pts). exams are all essays, but attend lecture and u'll get an A!
He is a great professor! He made lecture interesting and I actually looked forward to attending lecture! Take good notes, skim the book, go to lecture and you'll do well come exam time. Lab is easy, so go to it and do the work. There is no reason you shouldn't pass Intro Psych with Fischer! Great!
Dr. Fischer is great. I struggled a little in his class but I learned just a *ton*. Dr. Fischer is a smart, interesting guy who really wants to help you learn. He even brought in one of his sea slugs! :-)
This guy is really good and easy to achieve an A. His exams are not tricky at all, if you actually attend every single lecture and study your notes than you will do just great.
Dr. Fischer is awesome. He is so cute in talking about everthing. If you like a conservitive professor he is for you. He doesnt tell anyone what his beliefs are but he won't say anything worse than "darn" He teachers very well and makes the 2 hrs go by quickly. He is very clear and if you study the notes his multi choice tests are simple.
He rocks!!! He is the best professor I have had and I have had enough to say that. If you want to enjoy a class and learn take him. He is very smart, respectful, objective on grading, and he always got back to my emails in a day (punctual). Great psychology examples so you can learn better and quicker. He is awesome.

Prof. Fischer is the most helpful professor I've had yet. The class is a breeze if you study the notes and pay attention in lecture. Very easy prof...take him!
this is a good class.. i love the way he teaches.. he really knows his material and knows how to lecture, but ofcourse like every other lecture it gets boring and all u wanna do is sleep. make sure u study for the exams!!!!!!
This guy is makes PSY very easy. Everything he lectures about is on the exam so theres no way you can fail if you come to class or copy his notes. I almost didnt need the book because almost everything came from the lecture.
Very friendly & approachable. Don't bother buying the book, exams are 100% lecture based. Don't miss a lecture, take good notes and you should do good. Highly recommended professor - only wish he taught more BIO classes!
Very interesting class, Test are all on the lecture almost never uses the books. The lab was fairly easy make sure you attend because you receive point for it and lab assignment will hurt or help you grade in the end i learned the hard way so you should do all of your assigned labs , overall great prof. explains the material well.
one word of advise:DONT EVER MISS LAB CLASS.do the labs their easy and cort was an awesome T.A.make sure to do that extra credit.tests arent even tricky, its mostly memorizing his slides.i dont know why i bought the book, barely use it.class was kinda boring.
Really easy. Just come to class and get his lecture slides. Attend labs, it's probably the most important, they are easy too;easy points.
a very easy prof. i didnt even go to class and ended u with an A just by studying his notes. remember the examples from his notes-very important and also when u r studying try to apply the concepts in real world examples. make sure to go to lab and do all the reports-easy points. the research credit do it as soon as possible. have fun!!
This is probably one of the easiest psychology classes you could possibly take at WSU. Dr. Fisher is very clear and understandable, but he is also BORING!!!!!! There were 350 people in the class and 100 that did show up were either sleeping, or heck, they were sleeping. Just study his notes and attend the lab sections. You will guaranteed an A
Fischer is really cool! Make sure you go to lab and do the assignments, they are easy too! Do ALL the extra credit, it is easy too, just takes some time to do the studies. It is an easy A class...didn't even go to class, just work off the notes and listen to the notes through iTunes. Take him if you can and Yoder is a great TA too.
This guy is a genuine guy and really knows his stuff! I loved his class although it got boring at times, that's just normal. Take good notes and study. I got an A. Go to class, it's worth it.
I got an 'A' in this class and I am not even that smart. He said that PSY 1010 is one of the university's challenging classes, it even had a SI section for it. Tests were straight off the lecture slides so understand them really well. Don't bother buying the book or the extra BS they recommend...I didn't. This professor is the easiest.
Really good class. He posts lecture slides before the class. Best thing to do is to print them and write down anything extra he says. The tests are right from the lectures. There is no reason to buy the book. I studied for about 2 hours the night before each exam and the lowest grade i got on an exam was a 94. It was an easy A.
It was an early class and rarely anyone attended. I attended almost every lecture but ended up falling asleep half the time. I didn't buy the book at all. Lab points are very important. Exams come straight from slides, he can be boring but he's a good prof. Easy A
this guy is awesome. very interesting class if your awake lol gotta admit that his class is really boring especially since its so early too. but it's definitely an easy A. i'd recommend this guy.
Straight-forward prof. He puts up lecture outlines and slides before class, print em' out and take notes during lecture. There are weekly quizzes based on book readings. Don't buy the book, just make copies. Go to ALL lab classes, you need those pts.! Offers 45 points of extra credit. Need to do research credit. He really knows his material.
if you read the chapters. all you need to study is his notes for the tests.
He was a great Professor. Started each class with an overview and help if you needed it. Pretty easy if you pay attention. He put all his slides on Blackboard. Easy A if you keep up with everything. LABS AND RESEARCH PARTICIPATION IS A MUST TO PASS!
very helpful teacher. Difficult class but the teacher will help you with his office hours. He is super friendly and approachable.
Very good prof. he knows his stuff. However, very, very hard grader and tricky exams. You might think you did well on exam just to find out you got C. He will screw up your GPA.
I adore him! Best professor I've had at WSU. He makes very straightforward and clear presentations. If you miss a few classes make sure you've read the chapters and looked at his notes. He has a contagious interest in what he's talking about. His exams are not too difficult if you attend class. And I actually looked forward to his classes.
Although his lectures were very clear, Fischer is extremely pompous. Depend on the TA's more so than him, but even they were just as unapproachable once they step down from their pedestals of being Graduate students. The class hierarchy and ridiculous standards left me with a bad taste. You can easily pass this class, just review the material.
It's m forvoret class.
Nice person. Knows his stuff but that should be given with Ph.D. With that said; exams are very, very tricky and difficult. This class screwed up my GPA so I gotta take it over. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HIM, AND I WILL NEVER TAKE FROM HIM AGAIN FOR SURE!!!
fischer is a good prof. for psy 1010 (intro) you don't have to go to lecture, but he puts his lectures online anyway so if you wanna listen you can... the lab is a little harder, but not really. DONT SKIP LAB. its a bad idea and ur T.A. will not be nice to you if you do. he uses the book mostly. i studied from the book mostly its an EASY A! :D
This class was hard but the prof. offered to help me via his office hours and went over the concepts I struggled with. He was really great and very nice. I hired a tutor and Aced my last 2 tests after getting a D and a C on tests 1 and 2 but because of his extra credit I got a B+ in the class
Dr. Fischer is a good guy. He has probably been one of the most uninteresting instructors I have ever had though. You need the book for the quizzes that he gives you and you probably want to read it as a supplement to the lectures as well. I like him as a guy, but I would not want him again as a professor.
Dr. Fischer is pretty cool. His lectures are really clear and well put together. He knows his stuff. He is the kind of professor that gives you the option to NEVER come to class and still have a chance of passing. I suggest going to class though. Exams are all based of slides, so studying slides is the key. The book? I never opened it. $175 wasted.
Nice guy. All lectures are podcast which is great if you miss class. Posts everything on Blackboard. Do not miss lab or you will have problems. Get research done right away.
AWESOME!
Great PSY professor, and was very easy too. Need the book for online quizzes and need to go to lab since it's a large part of your overall grade. Dont need to attend lecture, its posted online. Highly Recommended!!
Very easy prof/class. Posts slides online. Tests come right from lecture. If you actually go to class the tests are basically a joke, easy A. Allows 40 pts extra credit out of an 800 pt class. 5pt quiz for each lecture. You do need to read for the blackboard quizzes though.
AWESOME!!!
Thomas Fischer is one of the greatest professors I have ever had. He knows his stuff really well, also he is very passionate about what he teaches. I looked forward to going to his class, he is lots of fun! He will use the cutest analogies, trust me you'll love it. I wish he taught more bio classes, I`m so glad I took 5080 with him!!!
I like him a lot, he is a cool guy. The class is difficult if you don't keep up with the reading, considering the quizzes are strait from the book! Do the research credits asap
Lectures are crystal clear & examples are great. Responds to emails quickly and very helpful. Exams are straight from lecture slides very easy.2 quizzes every week & yes u do have to read the book. Finish SONA asap, if you leave it to the end u'll be screwed. Keep up on the work and it should be an easy A. He offers 45 extra credit pts
be prepared to work and take anatomy and physiology
i honestly dont know everyone is in love with this guy taking a class with him was the biggest mistake i've ever made although the exams are straight forward you have to be cautious of the amount of points you lose the extra credit paper is useless b/c he grades it as if it's a term paper for a phd student avoid if you dont want to ruin your gpa!
Favorite Professor by far! He provides you with every resource possible to get a good grade. There are weekly online quizzes straight from the book and very easy- 10 of the exact quiz questions are directly on his exams (free points.) He's entertaining and crystal clear on the material.
He was a good teacher. As long as you listen and pay attention to what he says in lecture; you will do good in your exams. Also, he offers up to 40 pts extra credit which is a bonus. Interesting class overall.
hes a hard teacher, but if you show up to class and take good notes you'll do good.
One of the easiest classes I ever took. As long as you study the book and do the online quizzes, there is no way you won't get a high grade. After the couple weeks, I stopped going to class and studied the slides and book -- and I am not studious by any means.
ONE WORD, EASY! just take good notes, study them, and the online quizzes and your good to go, lab helps as well.
One of the Best Professor. He makes you love Psychology.
This class is EASY! just take notes, study them and attend class.. Dr. Fischer is a funny guy, even though he has some corny jokes :P he make psychology an interesting topic.. and exams are pretty strait forward, just a few questions are blah and its a 8 am class. otherwise i recommend taking him for Psych. :)
hes aright he's hard and mean doesn't like when people talk but he's straight forward
nice guy. if you choose not to go to class you need to watch the lectures online. there is too much information there for you to miss. do the quizzes. tests are tricky so make sure you read carefully and study the material. dont be surprised if you think you aced a test and got a C
As long as you stay on top of the readings and lectures you are fine. the lectures are very important since clicker points are apart of the grade and examples from lectures appear on the exam
This was a very interesting class. it can be a little boring at times. The exams came from lectures. All of his lectures were recorded so going to lecture was not really REQUIRED.
It's been years since I've had Dr. Fischer but I had a great learning experience with him and would recommend taking his class.
Attendance is mandatory, as he uses iClickers. His lectures start to get boring after the third lecture. His exams are really easy as long as you remember his lectures, the examples he used during lecture, and reading the book does help. But the majority of test info comes from the lectures. He is a really nice guy, and I am learning a lot.
If youre taking a psych class, this would be the professor to take it with. His exams are really easy, and they come straight from his lecture slides and the examples that he lectures on in class. He even tells you that he will use 10 questions from the quizzes on the exam. Lectures can be boring, but he uses clickers so its mandatory.
He is a VERY good teacher, he is helpful if you go see him during office hours. Do as much Sona extra credit as possible and you'll be fine. the only reason you have to attended class is to get clicker points, he post recordings up after every lecture, i recommend him over any other WSU psychology teacher :)
What a great teacher for a intro course! Really engages the students in his interesting lectures despite its 8a.m. Easy points and tests are from lecture notes & the book & the online quizzes! Easy A if you study hard enough. It's college so you must put in effort. Tests are not cumulative. Go to lecture to get easy clicker points!
Dr. Fischer was an awesome teacher. His lectures are interesting. You can always go to his office hours to get clarity on material. Clicker points help your grade a lot, so attend class. The text book was useful for his quizzes, which were pretty easy. Link up with someone to study with for exams, there usually fair. Study! :)
He is a great teacher with an interesting lecture that makes listening worthwhile. Attendance is a pain, since clickers are involved and grades A LOT on clicker points. Honestly you don’t have to read the book or study too much. Just take good notes and follow the lecture. He’s good at responding to any confusion you may have-if any.
Dr. Fischer is a great professor. Very nice, lectures are interesting. Very fair exams, straight to the point and no trick questions.
I didn't really go to class but this professors lectures sure were interesting to listen to. I learned a lot about the amygdala and stuff. Definitely recommend taking this prof. In hindsight I wish I would've gone he seems like a cool dude when I saw him on exam days. He even knew not very many ppl showed up to his class except on exam day haha!
Best Psych. professor at Wayne. One bad part is that class was early in the morning but Fischer tried to be energetic and funny. Recommended highly.
This class requires alot of outside studying. As long as you read the chapters and take notes on his powerpoints in which he includes questions about on the exam whether its in the book or not. You will be fine. Clicker points is a big part of your grade so attending every class helps in the end. The lab is super easy. Super boring but doable.
I don't think many people realzied this, but his exam questions were all given to you at the beginning of the semester. Dr. Thomas gives you an objective list with a bunch of questions on them on the first day of class. If you answer every question on that list, you are guarenteed an A. Put minimal effort into this class and came out like a champ!
The easiest class I took at WSU. Went to class at first, got a 100% on the first exam, and never went again. Even without the clicker points he offers and Bs on rest of exams, got a 94%. Only work is to keep up with reading quizzes which are easy but do require reading the book. Study for exams using LearningCurve, SUPER helpful. Easiest A
Very clear in his lectures. One of the best professors I've had. If you do the learning curve and quizzes and are up to date with your reading. You'll do well
Best. Professor. Ever. I loved his lectures (even though I had them at 8am) and he offers extra credit assignments, a lot of clicker points, (and gives a bunch of clicker questions) and the only thing that's rough is the lab. If you don't show up, you'll fail the lab, attendance counts towards your grade and you do homework in lab. Super easy!
Exams were fairly easy. No point in lecture unless you want clicker points. You have to read the book in order to pass and theres a quiz due online before every lecture. Quizzes actually help boost your grade up, 5 questions. He talks a lot in lecture and doesn't dismiss early. He tries to be "hip" and references Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift.
One of the most amazing professors i have ever had. Lectures were perfect. Exams were not to bad if you studied. Very helpful and responds back to emails quick!
For those interested in psychology, Dr. Fischer is definitely a treasure trove of knowledge. He's a great lecturer, and I learned an exorbitant amount of information in his class. The exams are directly from the book, SO MAKE SURE YOU READ. The LearningCurve exercises help when studying for exams, and you get 1010 simply for doing them.
His lectures can get boring and I will admit that I fell asleep on occasion, but he is a really nice guy who wants you to do well. Just read the online textbook, do the quizzes, study for exams using LearningCurve, and you will be golden. This is an EASY A as long as you do the work. Exam days are great because of how easy and quick they are.
best teacher I've ever had at Wayne state... Yup I said it.
He's great he really cares about our well-being, very helpful when needed and really likes for you to participant even though it's a lecture.
Dr. Fischer is the best made an 8am class so interesting take with him
TAKE FISCHER. Yes you have to read, do the assignments, take notes, and show up to class but that should be expected. The learning curve assignments help SO MUCH when studying for the exams. Also, the exams (all four of them together) are only worth 25% of your grade! The rest is based on the ridiculously easy lab and your homework.
This man is a great psychology professor, but I personally did not like him in person. Anyway, the class is pretty straightforward (Exams, clicker, lab, homework). The thing that killed me was waking up to attend class at 8 am (which affected clicker points). Lab was stupid too. 40 points extra credit so it is rare to not get at least a B.
Very good sense of humor. He is a very fun lecturer and encourages participation. Decent amount of homework but it is not that difficult.
Dr. Fischer is a great professor! His lectures were enjoyable! You receive clicker participation points for attending class so make sure you go. There was always reading and homework to do on launch pad- utilize this because you receive a lot of points for staying on top of the work load. Plus, launchpad helps with studying for tests!
Mr. Fischer is a good professor, he is willing to work with you and wants the best for his students. His tests are tricky so make sure to study for them, however, his lectures are helpful, if you pay attention in lecture and follow along by taking good notes then you won't need to study much just review. Great professor, I highly recommend him! :)
He is an incredible professor! He is always there for his students and WANTS to help out! Tests are not easy, so make sure you study off them. Class is based on points, which makes it all that much easier. Keep up with homework assignments, go to lecture(clicker points), do the extra credit and you will be just fine!
GO to lectures (clicker points). Test are hard but to make it a little easy study the terms and diagrams. Afterwards, use the homework questions to quiz you some of them are on the test. Do all the homework and extra credit. teacher is cool and make it fun. you will learn alot from the class.
A lot of work in this class that you have to put some effort into. You must read the book too which you can get online if you want. Lectures are mandatory and there are clicker points and extra credit. Tests are difficult so make sure you do good on the HW and do the EC and you should get a decent grade at least. Weird guy but he's not bad.
If you do your assignments BEFORE attending lecture, everything is so simple. The textbook is REALLY straightforward and Dr. Fischer's lectures were so interesting and memorable. Honestly, I'm surprised people even struggled with this course! I studied well (using mainly notecards) and I would walk into exams knowing I'd score at LEAST a 90%.
Dr. Fischer is a great teacher to take if you've never taken a psych class before or if you just need a refresher. His grading is clear, and it's a good idea to do the homework and read the book before class. Make sure you show up to class for participation points. The tests are super easy, straight from the book and some lecture. Great guy
im currently taking his class and i love it. he is a great professor. he loves what he does and he knows what he is doing. just do your hw, study, and come tot class. you will love it!
Dr. Fischer is an awesome professor! Really knows what he's talking about and loves what he teaches, which is a great aspect. His class isn't hard, just read, do the learn curve, show up to class and take notes, and the test are majority from reading. Easy A class and a great professor! Very organized as well and not confusing at all! Pay attention
Great professor. Very effective lecture style and does his best to make the material interesting. Make sure you use a clicker to get easy points every class. Do the hw assignments, attend class, and study for the exams. He is the most organized professor ive had and makes everything clear on the syllabus and blackboard. He gets my recommendation!
Hes awesome but he barks
As long as you do the homework, go to class, and listen to his lectures, the class will be a breeze. Listen to him when he tells you to attain good study habits. Dr. Fischer is awkwardly funny in a very endearing way. He's like that one dad that always makes really lame puns to relate to the kids. This made my 8 am class tolerable, in my opinion.
Take advantage of the extra credit papers/opportunity he gives. Really interesting lectures. Make sure to STUDY for tests. If you truly study you will do A okay! And go to all of the labs. It's worth more than 20% of your grade.
Did not do well on any of the exams but still passed the class with a B+ If i studied harder I would've gotten an A. Just do the launch pad assignments, take noes, and study!! He give a lot of Extra credit opportunities that can really help with your grade! Overall good professor
ATTENDANCE IS MUST!! You get clicker points so you end up having to come to class. Listening to lectures and reading from the book is the only way to do well on the tests. DO EXTRA CREDIT its super easy and helps with points I got an average Cs and Bs on exams but did every other type of assignments and still ended up with an A
He is a very knowledgeable man, but his tests are extremely difficult. In fact, he curves all of his exams because he knows from years of experience that his tests are hard. You all have to purchase a cheap online textbook and answer questions before every class, which is nice for extra points. The textbook did not help me for the exam, however.
I had him my freshman year for PSY 1010, so when I saw he was the professor PSY 3120 I definitely signed up. He uses learning curve, you'll be reading and taking quizzes before class, but it's useful because it prepares you for the lecture. His exams are a little difficult, but if you use learning curve and his lecture notes you should be good.
Dr. Fischer is an amazing lecturer. He knows what he's talking about and makes lectures interesting. His tests are very hard, and he does NOT curve them. But, he assigns homework worth 34% of your grade, so do that and it helps a lot. Study his lecture notes a lot for the exam, and even though attendance isn't mandatory, I suggest going to class.
Professor Fischer is a very intelligent Psychology professor who really cares for the students' knowledge about psychology as well as study habits. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT. Tests are a bit tough but lots of other assignments that boosts your grade. I got a B- average on all tests but still ended with an A. GO TO CLASS, Iclicker participation.
His lecture is not important but go for clicker points those easy points boost your grade up. His test were easy practice on launchpad and read all the chapters before the exam and you'll get an A, gives out a lot of extra credit w lab too. do the HW, memorize the vocab. Not a cumulative final which is amazing, 4 exams total w hw every night. TAKE
Requires you to buy online homework that comes with an E-book, easy homework, only takes 10-15 minutes per assignment. Also requires you to buy an I-clicker for attendance, don't need to get questions correct though, you just need to respond to them. Lectures were recorded using ECHO but were easy to understand and were interesting. Hard exams.
Very helpful and fun to listen to. He has a ton of extra credit for you to rely on. However, you should come to class because every class has clicker points. Even if you don't pay attention, just physically go because you should get all of the points you can in the beginning.
Dr. Fischer knows what he is talking about! He can sometimes come across as a know-it-all but he is an all around good guy. You have to go to lecture for clicker points, but the tests are based off of the reading. The book is online and you have lots of online assignments that relate to the reading which is really helpful.
I did well in this class (finished with an A-) despite getting a C average on the exams. Attend lectures if you want to earn clicker points and have a full grasp of material for exams. Overall a good guy, can be a little arrogant but definitely knows his stuff. Do all launchpad assignments and put effort into labs. You get out what you put in.
Dr. Fischer was a great at explaining things. He has a quirky sense of humor that makes class very enjoyable! Like any class, if you expect an A, you need to put effort in. Read the book, takes notes on it, and make sure to go to class. The parts of the brain and the processes can get confusing, so it requires time, but is definitely manageable!
Speaks very clear in lectures and makes learning fun.
Great professor, very organized. All classes run the same way. Never cancels class and never lets students out early, but you learn a lot from him. Homework isn't bad, you just have to study.
TAKE PSYCH WITH Dr. Fischer!!! One of the best teacher's you'll ever have. Not only that, but the class is set up so that if you show up to class and get your clicker points, do all the homework (which is based off completion and really easy) and do the extra credit, you can do subpar on the tests and still get a great grade! Highly recommend!
Professor Fischer for psych is the best decision you can make. He is very smart and knows a lot about psychology. Homework is based on completion, and the tests are very fair. This class is an easy A and I would it again any time.
Dr. Fischer was overall a great teacher. His lectures do get boring after a while, but his slideshow, homework assignments and clicker questions will have all the things you need to get a good grade on his exams.
Dr. Fischer is an amazing teacher. He is very clear with what will be on the exams and teaches everything in a very helpful way with many examples. There are many easy ways to earn points in the course. Also very friendly and funny.
He is a good teacher. The lectures are simple and clear and the tests are too. He explains things well and tries to use multiple examples to get his point across. The class is interactive with the clicker questions. Do the readings, go to class to get points and take notes, and you'll pass. Very easy class.
Dr. Fischer was a great instructor for PSY 1010. I enjoyed his lectures and performed well on his tests. In general there are no complaints about Thomas in the classroom. One day on my way to his 8am lecture I was parking in structure 8 where someone going the wrong way down the structure peeled out and cut me off and stole my spot. you know who
Dr. Fischer is a very kind man who really tries to make his lectures interesting even though they are at 8am (and everyone is asleep). Do the extra-credit, show up to lab, get your clicker points, and there should be no reason you dont get an A.
dr fischer is EXTREMELY intelligent and thorough with his explanations. i loved going to his class even though it was at 8am. as long as you show up and do the learning curves and do extra credit, you're basically guaranteed an a
He is very easy to listen to and bring in modern aspects of life to make learning the material easier. He funny and loves dogs.
Dr. Fischer does have a lot of content in each lecture, but he is an amazing professor and actually cares about your grade. He also offers extra credit so if I were you, I would take advantage of that. He is very quick to put in grades as well as answering emails as soon as possible. I would definitely take him again!
This guy obviously is passionate about his job and what hes teaching. Not only does it make class enjoyable, but it helps me understand the material better. I actually feel excited for his lectures. He also has a cute dog.
a really great teacher here, im glad i was in his intro to psych class
Loved him! Lectures were lengthy but held important information. I learned and understood. Seemed like such a funny and great person, makes me wish I could have taken this class in person! Really recommend it, wish I could have him the whole year. TAKE CLASSES WITH HIM
Dr. Fischer was a very organized teacher and tackled online school very well. He posted about 4-5 lectures every week, and you had to listen and answer the questions. We used to do learning curves as well, but they weren't all that difficult. There was a total of 4 exams in the whole semester, and they were easy. You should be perfectly fine!
Loved Dr. Fischer! Class is super easy and lectures are easy to follow. Especially with the pandemic, he's been very accessible to answer questions. Would definitely take this class again.
Prof Fischer is a nice guy and he loves talking about his dog its cute. I will say that there are open zoom sessions but they aren't required. He gives 4-5 lecture vids per week and they can be around 15-30mins each and they have embedded questions that are worth a lot of your grade. They aren't super hard but you might have to rewatch the video.
This was a great intro psych class to take. Lectures were a bit heavy due to length, but that's not a deal breaker for me. You can use notes on exams but you only have an hour for 50 questions. Very passionate about psychology and tries to make it interesting. I would definitely take him again.
Best professor I have ever had as long as you do your work you will get an A, plus there is extra credit available. He is a very nice caring professor everyone should have the opportunity to take him. This class also very interesting I actually enjoyed learning about the different subjects
Professor Fischer is a great professor for an introductory psych course. He makes the material very easy to understand, and I found it to be enjoyable and very interesting. He knows what he is talking about, and if you do all the work, you will do well. He also offers extra credit.
He gives so many opportunities for extra credit. TAKE THEM! He posted lecture videos with questions every week so you have to watch them. The lab is probably the hardest part of the course because collaboration is hard in a virtual environment. Quizzes were questions about/from the lectures.
So easy to approach with questions and just talking with life in general. Super great professor.
Dr. Fischer is such a nice guy. He gives a lot of extra credit, and he's really approachable. Sometimes his lectures are a little dry, but I would definitely recommend him. knows his stuff, too!
Guys, let me tell you that Prof Fischer, is the BEST professor I have taken at Wayne State University so far. I although barely got an A, I would take this again a million times yes, he is such a good professor, and really cares about the content he says. He is always available to reach, and all of his tests are fair. Just pay attention to the HW.
Cool teacher just pay attention in lectures.
I took him for psychology 3120 based on his reviews. Its a point based class and this was for my minor. His exams are worth 54% for your grade and there are 4 exams. He doesnt give any extra credit or curve your grades. When you email him with aconcerns he should no sympathy. Please do not take him based on the reviews because thats what I did
very hard. Professor is very tough
Don't recommended
Dr. Fischer is amazing! His lectures are really interesting and engaging. I wish I would have attended more of them. The exams can be pretty tough but if you study you won't get below a C. He is super accessible outside of class and responds to emails very quickly. There is a lot of reading in the assignments though.
Dr. Fischers lectures were pretty engaging! They could be a bit dry at times, but its obvious the guy is passionate about psychology. He also responds very quickly to emails. Exams are a bit difficult, but as long as you attend the lectures and read the textbook you should be golden. Lots of reading is involved; make sure you take good notes.
I kind of fell in love with Psychology after taking this class. Yes, this was just an introductory course, but I had an amazing time. I learned a lot about the human mind and body. I actually use the knowledge I learned and apply it in real life. The lecture videos are long and include Q&As but it was not hard. This guy is a legend.
Professor Fischer's class is super lecture-heavy. There is not a lot of opportunities to ask questions in class and he isn't the easiest person to get into contact with outside the classroom. The tests are hard, and each one is more difficult than the last. This class is good for anyone who doesn't mind having to do a lot of reading + self-teaching
I had him for my psych lecture and it was a good class overall. If you skip classes and get no clicker points, there is no way you will pass. The textbook is online and there are online assignments for nearly every lecture, but they are pretty easy. It is A LOT of note-taking.
Dr. FIscher is such a nice guy! I passed with an A-. He makes lecture really fun although the material can be bland sometimes. Just take good notes and study and you'll be fine!
Dr. Fischer is hands down probably the most enthusiastic professor I've ever taken, and I loved it. He allowed for interaction through Clicker points, so you were continuously engaged in class. I, personally, loved HAVING to go to lecture, it really helped learning the material. Exams were not bad, but got a little harder each time
Literally such a sweetheart. You can tell that Dr. Fischer is genuinely passionate about what he does. Homework helps to boost your grade and the exams are manageable with adequate preparation (i.e., knowing & being able to apply concepts from the slides). I would gladly sign up for another course he teaches!!
Dr. Fischer was so nice and a really passionate speaker. He made the lectures very entertaining and easy to understand. Homework was online and due before each class. Tests were alright just make sure to study!
Dr. Fischer is such an amazing professor and I would recommend this class to everyone. He always kept things very interesting. He is super sweet and understanding, just email him if you have any questions or concerns. The lecture videos are quite long and have questions throughout, but they are not hard at all. 10/10 recommend!
This class is pretty time consuming. You have to spend about 60-90 minutes a week listening to online lectures, and answering ed puzzle questions. The tests are basically what he teaches. You must take notes on the lectures to do good on the tests. Overall an average class.
The professor made it very hard to enjoy the class and the workload was too heavy to learn and comprehend everything before exams. Each week there are 5 lectures, about 3-4 hours of work, multiple learning curves each week, and the exams are worded very hard and not always similar to our notes. He also is not very accommodating and not helpful.
As a good student that has taken 5000+ level courses, I've never had a 3-credit course with this much work. 5 unclear edpuzzle lectures w embedded questions each week and useless busy-work assignments, all unhelpful to exams. Explains in circles, confusing. RUDE and unapproachable. Expects this class to be your only commitment. AVOID AT ALL COST
LOVE Fischer! One of my favorite classes and professors at this school so far. 10/10 recommend. He is only difficult if you do not put any effort into the class. If you are interested and invested, you will do well.
Dr. Fischer is a great teacher, responds quickly to emails, and overall a good prof. BUT his class is not an easy A. There are Edpuzzles along with learning outcomes that will take you roughly 3 hours a week. My advice is to do your absolute best on exams so you aren't stuck cramming the 5-page papers for extra credit (5 for only 10 pts).
Dr. Fischer is a great professor, especially for an Intro class. Although his lectures were very informative, they were HEAVILY time-consuming and took up to 4 hours to complete and take notes. Taking notes is key for this class as many of the things in his lectures are in the exams. Even after that, I still learned a lot in Psych.
Professor Fischer is one of the best professors I've had. He is clear in his lectures and the weekly lectures meant to be watched are very informative. I enjoyed the content of his class and how passionate he was about teaching it to his students. Tests are open note, which was very helpful and the information can be a lot sometimes.
If you have a chance to take a class with Dr. Fischer, DO SO! He is the BEST professor Wayne State has to offer. He is funny, homework is light, and his lectures make you want to learn. He is also such a nice guy and is honest where you need it. If I could take every major specific course with him, I would!
The actual subject and class is hard but I was so impressed with Dr.Fischer. Absolutely phenomenal educator. He is a research scientist outside of class and his knowledge on the subjects he teaches shows. Very refreshing. Just make sure to study your butt off! His exams are not open book. He uses iClicker points.
Very interesting class and he does an amazing job at teaching this information in an exciting and understandable way. My only complaint is that it is A LOT of information. If you take notes the way you really should there will easily be 10+ pages every lecture. Can write 2 extra credit papers for 10 pts each. Exams based on learning outcomes.
Very easy class! It is completely online and open-book. He has humor and is chill! Good prof!
Some of his Video Lecture questions were tricky or pulled from other videos, making it hard. Timing is very tight for his exams so don't let open note/open book excite you. Not a bad class, had lots of good info. Just wish there were opportunities for drops.
really annoying tbh. he really envokes, "my way is the only way" when talking about the information- even if its WRONG. he's so rude too, he'll literally report you if you get 0.01% higher on the unicheck standard. his weekly assignment is stupid as he makes writes notes for them but we cant write word for word or "transcribe" what he says.
the structure of this class was so annoying. exams were confusing even though they were open note, the lecture outcomes took FOREVER to do every week, even edpuzzle Qs were hard and you couldn't afford to miss them. EC was insanely long - 2 essays of 7 pages for 20 points total. annoying and time consuming class, dont take if you hate busywork
Great professor, I enjoyed taking his class and learned a lot.
Dr. Fischer was a great professor. Asynchronous class with 4 exams and no final, no drop. Weekly lectures with questions embedded in them and a notes outline you fill out that he calls Learning Outcomes. The exams were a bit tough but just take a few days before the exam and rewatch his lectures. No textbook needed and an extra credit essay.
Professor Fischer's class is no easy ride, but the quality content makes it worthwhile. The workload is heavy, but using unstuckstudy alongside the lectures can really boost your prep. Overall, a challenging yet rewarding course.
Dr. Fischer was a pretty good prof. The class was listed as synchronous, but it was asynchronous. He posts about 5 lectures per week, each about 20 minutes long. You must complete learning outcomes that pertain to the material each week, my submissions usually ended up being 8 pages long. Exams are open note and easy with LO's to go through.
