Very good
Professor Flanagan is a great teacher, I've always had a difficult time understanding math but with him it was so easy, he has a lot of patience and will not continue until you understand everything. The exams are exactly like the homework problems and he will tell you what problems to review. Hands down the best math teacher I have ever had.
Great teacher. Very helpful and makes math easy to understand. For someone like me who has always had a hard time with algebra I have never gotten better grades than I did in his class and I finally could grasp an understanding of it. Exams are based off the homework and he will even tell you what problems to study. I would recommend him to anyone.
Don't buy the book, because you'll never use it. The only thing you need is a MathXL subscription to do the homework. If you're solid on math, don't bother coming to class, because he just does the homework on the board. Tests and exam were straight from MathXL. Very willing to help during office hours. EXTREMELY boring, but an easy A.
Great Professor!! I am horrible in math, I am terrible!! I passed his class with a 98%, his teaching techinque is boring but he is very easy !! do not buy the book, he uses MathXL.
Class is super easy, you have all semester to do the online homework. That being said, he constantly struggled with the information he was teaching. I'm not sure if he just didn't prep for lectures, but many times the class would correct him on the information he was teaching. Still, easy grade though.
Great Teacher.
great teacher. super easy class. doesnt take attendance. lectures come straight from homework problems on mathXL. doesnt usually take entire class time to lecture, you get out early a lot. overall he is a good teacher and makes things very clear.
He's a great teacher! I only wish he taught higher level math (precal and above):(
Great teacher. Very helpful, always there for you, I Really enjoyed his class.
great teacher, makes learning math simple. would take him again in a heartbeat
Easy. A. Good teacher
He was good but his precalculus class was a challenge for me. His lectures were long and he didn't explain things thoroughly. He also didn't offer many practice problems on the online homework. Overall, I don't recommend him for higher level math.
Very goodhelpful professor. I will definitely take him again for my next math class :)
This was easier than Algebra 2. - Attendance not required - Class got out after 20-40 min (instead of 75 min) - 10 question tests (4 tests, drops lowest) - Online homework was easy - He is super awkward and boring, but helpful. Take him if you are scared of math classes.
All of your assignments in Math xl are due at the end of the semester, so you can do them anytime you want. His lectures are clear and he breaks everything down for you in small people terms, which for me was GREAT! There is only a Final exam and it is only on the last chapter. You actually understand everything and its super easy A.
Professor Flanagan is a great teacher. He is very quiet and does not share any personal stories. We almost always got out of class early. He is clear and to the point. His tests are easy as long as you go over the problems he does on the board. I recommend him 100%.
Mr. Flanagan has a quiet, reserved teaching style that puts you at ease. The grading scale is clear from the start, dates may be subject to change depending on the speed of material covered. I took all my required math courses with him. Tests cover the material which was taught. If you do the work you will succeed in the course.
No need for a book, he gives handouts for every class and that is what you base your studies off of. Very soft spoken, gives 5 tests and final is not cumulative.
I took him for college algebra and it was the most BORING class I have ever taken in my life. My friend and I played a game counting how many awkward things he did during class. He repeats everything he teaches constantly. While the class was easy, I felt like it was a waste of my time.
Professor Flanagan has been the best professor I've had in a math course at SJR. He has power point slides that he uses to teach and explains everything clearly. If you have questions, he will stay after class with you. He gives reviews before tests and tells you what to study. I would definitely take a course taught by him again!
BEST math teacher I have ever had. I took him for calculus 1 and he gave me a great basis and understanding of it, when other teachers make it super confusing. He gives hand outs. Gets right to teaching in class no babbling around. Class always got let out really early. Great!!!
Professor Flanagan is a great math teacher. Very soft-spoken and reserved, he delivers the information required to complete the course via power-point presentations. Textbook not required - only the mathlab access code and a calculator. Five total exams - final is not cumulative. I had not taken math in 30 years and made an A!
His notes are very detailed and an amazing study tool. His test questions come directly from the online homework and he gives a study guide saying which questions on the homework a test question will be taken from. Class usually passes fast.
Professor Flanagan was a great math teacher. His notes are very simple and all of his tests come directly from the online homework. His study guides are VERY helpful. I would definitely take him again and recommend him to anyone.
Professor Flanagan was a great teacher. I took him for Intermediate Algebra and Algebra. He cares about students. He wants to see everyone pass. He is very soft spoken and calm. I wish that all teachers cared as much as Professor Flanagan.
Best math teacher ever!
Flanagan is a decent teacher. He often offered vague explanations that required independent study to fully understand. Your grade is largely composed of 4 test scores and a final exam. Class participation and homework is only 10% of your grade so it is important that you understand the material so you perform well on the exams.
A++ I have had a few math profs who were know-it-all jerks. This one is awesome. He is approachable; has a great demeanor; patience; helpful; bell curve, but I didn't need it because he made learning so easy. Clickers used to measure in-class participation/attendance. Online homework offers e-book so textbook purchase is not necessary. I RECOMMEND
Flanagan is a great professor to take if you are not the best at math. His lectures are simple and he makes the math and strategies easy to understand. The online homework wasn't too bad, and he makes everything clear in his explanations.
I didn't need this class so it was slow for me, but he's a good teacher and explains everything thoroughly. If you ask questions he will help you without being a jerk.
I can't even use he tags on this professor. I took his class online and if it weren't for another professor's materials I would have failed this course. Get ready to teach yourself if you take it online. He doesn't provide any material to help you learn aside from the homework setup in mymathlab. Tests & quizzes were short which was good.
Pre-Cal was a great class.
He's the best math professor I've had. He's very thorough to make sure you understand how to do the work and offers extra credit to everyone.
I love his class, I struggle with math but he makes it easy, he explains it in a way that is easy to understand, he does step by step which really helps, he really cares about you and wants you to grasp the material. He really wants you to succeed. Best professor ever.
Mr. Flanagan is my favorite teacher. Although he is a very quiet man, he gets right to the point in his teaching and breaks everything down so its really easy to understand. His homework is based off the packets in class and you get to make one page of notes for tests. Highly recommend him !
Speaks softly so listen up. Makes a hard subject easy. I got a B because I got overconfident and didn't properly study for the final. If I had, would have gotten an A easily. If you have trouble with math, this is your prof.
Make sure to print out the guided notes, the lecture would be hard to follow without. He was very clear when explaining the steps. His class is one of the first math classes I actually understood and was confident with when taking the exams.
Definitely recommend him if you're new to online classes. He explains how to navigate the course well, the work load is very light, he has a million different sources for explanations and shows different methods of solving the same problem. Great guy, great class.
Professor Flanagan was super nice, though hes very shy and timid. He's willing to answer all your questions in a way to make you understand. He lets you retake some tests online and hes super easy going! You should take notes though to pass !
I love professor Flanagan I'd definitely take his class again.
Professor Flanagan is a great professor. His lectures are very clear and is very lenient with assignment due dates. It is impossible to fail this class.
Great professor but class is very slow paced. He extended homework due dates countless times for students to improve their homework grade. If you missed a class he would email you the note slides. He provided guided notes but you must print them off for each class. He allowed a notecard of notes for midterm and a page of notes for the final.
Professor Flanagan is super laid back. He is pretty clear with the grading criteria and what is expected of you. We only had 2 exams the entire semester, the midterm and final. There is a good amount of hw but gives you the entire semester to complete it all. The guided notes he puts on blackboard are super important. I liked him a lot
I seriously cannot recommend him enough! i tell everyone who needs math credits take him for liberal arts math 1 and 2! He is very sweet and does not make you feel dumb for asking questions. Always gives ample time for all homework and you get to use a page of notes for the tests! i legit love him so much! im going to miss him.
Really enjoyed attending his lectures. Sad I can't find another class with him on my requirement list.
His class was BORING. but I have always been horrible at math and he made it so clear I passed with an A! he MAKES SURE you get it! So awesome! Can't wait to retake it! he is so prepared! but do not email him out of class, he will NOT reply.
If you are not great in math and need someone to teach you, this is the teacher. I had him online, his lectures was so plain and he was so calm, I understood the concepts. he also allow you to take a page of notes, which you want need, but I carried as a comfort blanket of support because I had a fear of math. I love him. fair in grading.
I have never had a better professor for any subject! Enough said.
Professor Flanagan is an absolutely amazing professor. I highly recommend him for anyone... slow-learners and nerds (like me) alike.
Very good guy. Give you no reason to fail the class. If you put in the work and really try, You will pass. Great guy and deserve more credit than he gets. He gives you extra credit and really sets you up for success.
He's an caring professor he cares about his students passing his class
He is an awesome math teacher, really cares, takes his time, and very fair with homework assignments. Highly recommend this teacher.
It had been almost 10 years since I have taken any math, and I aced this class with without ever reading the Pearson textbook! He's methodical and clear in his lectures and what's expected of you; no trick questions. He offers video lectures if you're taking online classes. Also, he accepts ALL late hw with only a 10% penalty. Very exceptional guy.
Syllabus is clear. Follow it and do the homework, quizzes and tests. If you read Professor Flanagans power point notes and go through the online chapters, youll do fine. If you have questions for him, text was the quickest way to get an answer. If you can handle math alone, online was great. If you need hands-on help, take the class on campus.
Professor Flanagan is amazing . Hes lectures are amazing. If you pay attention in class youre definitely going to pass
Easiest prof youll ever have. All of my friends have hated taking stats and I dont understand why bc with this prof it is the easiest class youll ever take. You dont need any previous knowledge to pass or get good grades. You get one notecard per test and he goes over every subject and question
Professor Flanagan is a great math teacher! He post the class notes to canvas all you have to do is print it and bring it to class to fill in the gaps intead of writing everything down. Homework due at the end of the term. One flashcard front and back to use during test and he even offers to give you flashcards if you do not have any.
I took the class online and it was pretty easy. he did a good job teaching the material
Flanagan was one of the best math teachers ever! His teaching is a bit on the slow side, which really helps if you aren't very good at math. The tests are weighted at 60% and the final is 25%. The tests have few questions, which is a bit scary, but they're pretty easy. The final exam was not cumulative and replaces lowest quiz. Would recommend!!!
I am usually horrible in math but the video lectures that are given are god sent! Its so simple to learn and he makes it super easy to remember and understand! He gives multiple examples in the lectures so its easier to remember how to do the material. The homework is all on mathlab which is super easy as long as you pay attention to the lectures
Best math teacher I have ever had. Honest. Very patient, understanding, honest and just overall a good person.. I am really loving the zoom online live. He manages that very well and he is extremely responsive. TAKE HIM! HIS CLASS FILLS UP QUICK.
Summer Zoom Class For math, I need teachers who walk me step-by-step through the process and that is exactly what he did. By the time a quiz came around, I always felt like he had prepared me. He allows calculators and index cards during quizzes and gives you 3 hours to complete them. Final quiz replaces lowest grade. Got an A+! TAKE HIS CLASS!
Professor Flanagan is a very kind and caring teacher! I have always struggled horribly in math but I passed this class with an A and so much more understanding on math topics I have struggled with for years. Highly recommend!!
I suck at math so maybe I'm a lil biased but super nice guy and the work wasn't overwhelming to me at all.
Super cool guy. Ive always hated math but he makes it super easy and he lets yall bring the spreadsheets you make in class on excel to the test to use. He really wants everyone to pass and is always ready to answer questions. The tests are pretty much the review that you use to write the spreadsheet.
Fantastic teacher! Would absolutely recommend him for this course. Never in my life have I enjoyed math class before his class!
Great professor. Some might say he's boring because he's not enthusiastic or very outgoing, but he's nice and there are some funny/fun moments. He is great at explaining new concepts. As long as you do the (easy) homework and review here and there, there's no chance of failing. Overall, I recommend his class 100%!!
Liberal arts never heard of,I was intimidated but He is best at teaching math. My only serious note is if u struggle w/ long classes or rlly worried about math;DoNot take once a week class. I promise going 2x a week is better bc we learned 2-3 topics in 1 class which was a struggle; u get out early sometimes but its harder in 1 sitting.Pick him!!!!
If you are not the best at math, TAKE FLANAGAN. He explains things very clearly and offers to slow down. On tests, you get to use a page of notes. He takes many breaks to allow for questions. He listens to student feedback. He uses mathlab which is the one annoying thing but he is a great teacher and I would 10/10 reccoment taking his class.
Not very difficult at all if you apply yourself and pace your work out instead of trying to do it in one day. Grades come back super quick and if you pay attention and take notes there is absolutely no reason you shouldn't get an A.
If you have struggled to comprehend why you are learning math formulas, this is the guy. He teaches the real life applications. He goes slow; Teaches just the basics. He recommends HW to diversify application. Gives partial credit. Formulas in lecture will be on the exams. You know what to expect. He turns D students into A/B students.
Attend every class and all the canvas quizzes and youll do just fine.
This guy is awesome. He has some of the most available office hours on the campus, and is always happy to help. His lectures are informative and very straight forward. I also like how he heavily rewards attendance too. His examples are helpful too. He was an amazing math professor and I strongly recommend him! Thank you Professor Flannagan! :)
He is a good professor. Take him if you struggle with Maths.
Flanagan is absolutely amazing! If you are struggling with math I would 100% take him. He explains it very well and breaks everything down. I took him for another class, and never regretted it. Takes the time to make sure everyone understands and is on the same page. Would take him again.
He is an amazing professor! I have struggled in math classes and he makes it so much easier to learn. He gives out packets that are full of questions and notes. Notes are easy to understand! He teaches from the packets very well. He does give out many quizzes, but ranges from 3 to 15 questions. He has a lot of patience and is very respectful.
Best prof ever. U can tell he's passionate about math. Really enjoyed his class. Very available office hours, thorough lectures, simple grading criteria. Takes care to prepare enough for tests, always had review periods. He doesn't pull any word problem tricks like other calc profs do (i wont name names...). Very cool guy. Funny, too. Go jags!
An amazing professor took him for Calculus 3 over the fall semester. He breaks down each process step by step and makes sure his students understand it. Very accessible outside of class and gives notes that are easy to read and follow. Mr. Flanagan truly does have a love for math and this is apparent in his attitude and notes.
Mr. Flanagan breaks down everything and makes sure everyone understands each step. He does give a lot of homework, but you can get credit for every problem. His study guides also cover everything you need to know for the midterm and the final also his exams are very straightforward. Mr Flanagan truly cares about his students understanding of math.
Outstanding instructor, take his class, no questions asked. I still don't love math, but Professor Flanagan helps you appreciate and understand it. Also, if you don't get the grade you wanted, that's on you. He does everything in his power to help you help yourself!
I also took him for MAC1105. He is by far the best math professor I've had. He gives guided notes and the tests are exactly like the notes. Easiest math classes I've ever taken.
Calculus 3 is no easy class, but Professor Flanagan does a great job of building confidence in his students and thoroughly explaining the course material. As long as you participate and ask questions, Flanagan's class will be an awesome learning experience. I highly recommend this professor.
Amazing teacher.I've never been excited about learning math before having Flanagan.Very accommodating and is always having office hours before and after class.Teaches with slides and examples on the board.Overall, very kind and great at teaching concepts that some find difficult. If I was still attending here, I would take him for every math class.
Flanagan does a great job thoroughly covering the material. He goes out of the way to make sure you can succeed in his courses.
Professor Flanagan is by far my favorite math teacher. I am horrible at math and he makes statistics pretty easy! He uses guided notes, and does corrections on homework to ensure you understand the course material. He is so accessible outside of class and is confident every one of his students will pass. An amazing teacher at SJR. Take his class!!
Great, silly guy. The work was super easy and he explained everything extremely well and in depth. He'll send you the notes if you cannot attend class. Loves the Jaguars but they suck right now....
I took Flanagan for Calc 1 over the summer. He brought snacks for his students and is very passionate about what he teaches and is also a very good professor. His study guides and homework prepared you well for tests, and he even offered extra credit. Best math teacher I've ever had in my life :)
Math has always been a challenge for me, and I even had to withdraw from college algebra years ago because I just couldn't grasp it. It's the one thing that has stood between me and my degree—until now! Professor Flanagan explains concepts in a way that actually makes sense, making math easier to understand. I wish all my professors were like him!
Professor Flanagan is honestly one of the best math professors I've had. He breaks things down in a way that makes sense, and he is super patient if you don't get something right away. I always felt comfortable asking questions, and his examples helped make the material stick. He even has a lot of office hours for tutoring. Would take again!!
Amazing stats teacher! No textbook, he read the whole thing and created guided notes based on it that he gives to the class. Makes stats super easy. Only homework is short quizzes in Canvas that are easy with the notes. Has tons of office hours and is easily reachable through the Canvas inbox. Need lectures to understand notes, so don't skip!
Prof. Flanagan deserves a 10/10. He makes statistics super easy and enjoyable. He creates custom study guides that are identical to the exams, and the canvas homework is usually short practice work. There is some extra credit, and you can do homework corrections during office hours. He's very caring and super accessible outside of class.
One of the best professors at SJRSC. He teaches so well and explains everything in a way that everyone will understand. If you dont go to class you will prolly fail.
His tests were super easy because he gives a sample exam for all of his tests that are identical to the real thing. He gives a ton of extra credit and works with students during office hours if their grade is low. His homework was only 7-10 questions each and he gave paper notes for every lecture, but he does grade notes for completion only.
The only math teacher/professor I have ever had that was able to make me understand math. Genuinely the best math professor you can ever take. I am horrible at math, and I have never been able to understand it, but Flanagan made it easy to understand and actually cares about whether or not you understand it and keeps helping until you do. :)
He genuinely wants you to pass his class!! What an incredible professor who got someone bad at math, to get an A on every single exam! He is very funny and very thorough in his explanations. He goes slow and creates his own homework, class work and exams.
HE IS GOATED. Definitely worth to take his class if you're needing to do calculus courses. Thoroughly explained all the lessons with genuine care for students and provides a lot of office hours to make up homework or just to work through problems the students don't understand. Pretty funny too. 10/10 would recommend and take again.
I have never reviewed a professor before. I went into this class with so much anxiety I have always struggled with math. Professor Flanagan is wonderful. He made the experience something fun and the work load is light. If you do the work during class. Ask questions. He is so helpful. He has so many office hours and really cares about his students.
I've never left a review before, but this professor truly deserves it. He goes above and beyond, has plenty of office hours, explains everything clearly, and is super easy to talk to. He's very understanding, and if you show up and do the homework, the class is totally manageable. 10/10!
