Physical Universe....his tests are hard but he always there during his office hours and after class with an open door. Loves the subject and it shows in his teaching.

The best professor I have had at the UofA. Uses a lot of methods to help students learn. Makes class interesting. I have taken 2 different classes from him because I liked him so much.

Physical Universe-Nats 102& Stars-Nats 20 are the best classes I'vehad.I preceptor for his Stars class.Uses more technology than imaginable...in ILC, knows every name, loves subject, fun class

had Mr Fleming for Nats 102 and the Tier 2 stars class he teaches. If there were more professors like him, i wouldnt have transferred schools. Excellect professor

excellent prof. always use 200% of his enthusiasm in his lectures. highly recommended to everybody.

If you go to class everyday, do the online tutorials, do the labs, go to the review sessions and do the homework you will not even have to crack your textbook for the tests. This is not to say, however, that you do not learn a lot, indeed, you will learn a great deal of interesting material.

Dr. Fleming has been my favorite teacher at the University. He's very excited about Astronomy and shows it during his lectures. He even makes time to learn our names even though our class is enormous and makes us look forward to coming to class. The star party was really fun as well and there Dr. Fleming even entertained us with a few stories.

Great teacher, nice man. Don't talk in class. He plays favorites and if you piss him off you're so unbelievably screwed. Do ALL OF THE HOMEWORK! He remembers that too. Takes notes, ask questions, you'll do fine. Go to his review sessions, he'll tell you <b>every</b> question that will be on the exams.

Love him! You gotta remember to do the tutorials though...or it will get you in the end! He is a wonderful teacher who loves what he does, his classes are fun and you'll remember what you learned because he makes it interesting.

FANTASTIC PROFESSOR!! I took both nats 102 and astronomy with him and loved both semesters. It's obvious he loves astronomy and does a great job teaching gen ed science to all kinds of students.

Great teacher! So enthusiastic and helpful, but strict on attendance, so come to class! He really cares about students and the class and does not recquire textbooks, so he takes your financial status into consideration. Ample workload, but doable. Great class!

Good teacher, Easy A, only bad side is that the lectures are boring if you don't like ASTR. I recommend the class if you like ASTR or you want an A.

This class is flippen awesome. The material was fascinating and Dr. Fleming explained it very well. Go to class and do your mastering astronomy homeworks, and you should get way above an A in this class. Just don't talk in class, or he will get very upset.

Fleming is a must take teacher. So nice and so enthusiastic. Don't know what people are talking about him being rude. The only thing that bothers him is if you walk into class late. 85% is an A and tons of extra credit. Most of the class gets A's. All test and final you get to use one paper full of notes, which makes the tests so easy. Great Nats

Fleming is extremely passionate about Astronomy and very knowledgeable. The downside is that he expects you to be as well and Astronomy is boring. Had I know how in depth this class was I would not have taken it, but Professor Fleming is a wonderful teacher so if you must go for it. Understand that he is serious about attendance though.

He is a great teacher! He really cares about his students and learns everyone's name. He's really passionate about the subject. As long as you do all of the homework and go to class, you should be fine. The tests are a bit difficult, but you can still get an A in the class. He's my favorite professor this year.

He is a great teacher and really gets to know the students. Class is interesting and as long as you go to class and respond with your clicker, you get counted for attendance. Go to review sessions with him or the TA's and you will ace the test! hardly any homework, 2 tests, pop quiz extra credit points. Professor Fleming rocks though.

I love this class. He is a great teacher, he is so fun and enthusiastic. He does lots of visual things in class and it really helps you understand the concepts. Also, go to HIS review sessions, he goes over pretty much everythinggg on the test! Weekly online homework but its very easy.

Seriously, one of the best professors at the University of Arizona. He is very enthusiastic with his teaching. I went into this class not knowing a thing about astronomy! He makes the class reasonable with labs, homework and extra credit. The tests are difficult but if you go to his office hours and go to class everyday, you should be fine.

Although Fleming is a great teacher, I would not recommend this class if you are not seriously interested in Astronomy. Its ALOT of work for a GenEd class. If you are looking for an easy A, this is not the class for you. The tests are very hard!! He was excited that the class average for the first test was an F. He thought that was good.

Probably the BEST professor/teacher I have ever had. He is always cheerful and ready to teach us, while knowing we are not atronomers...so he does the best explanations involving everyday life and cool in class examples. Such a wonderful guy all around and very flexible and willing to help outside of class. Great guy, great class.

Great teacher for once I got a teacher that made science interesting. Really wants you to learn and will take time to make sure that you do. Does some cool demonstrations too. Overall is was and easy class, but you still gotta do the work.

Flemming is an amazing teacher! I went into the class completely uninterested in astronomy and trying to switch out... Now I am enthralled! His classes were so interesting that I didn't ever want to miss them. He's probably one of the most enthusiastic professors at U of A. You can tell he really loves his job.

Dr. Fleming is awesome. Very enthusiastic, and the class is very interesting. He's crystal clear of his expectations up front, and is always willing to meet with you if you need help. Take this class.

I found him kind of crazy as a person and he could definitely be mean. Otherwise he was a good teacher who engaged the class often and gave out fair grades to those who put in some effort.

makes class fun and uses good examples. very easy to understand and this class has made me very interest in astronomy which i wasn't interested in before. mastering astronomy assignments take a lot of time but if you take notes during the tutorials you don't really need to read the book. i recommend taking this class for sure!

Mr Flemming is an amazing teacher. He expects a lot so dont talk while hes teaching or he will yell at the class. Hes not a mean guy by any means, he just wants you to get the education you and your parents are paying for. I like him as a professor so much that in the Spring Im aking his Tier 2 Stars class. Would recommend him!

He seems like a huge stickler who will try to screw over everyone, but he is very fair and very helpful. If you show up, shut up, let him talk and get c's or above on the tests you could get an A. I dont even have to take the final. Very good class, never got bored and made astronomy more interesting than it should be. Take Flemming hes a g.

Take this class. This honors class is probably one of the best. This teacher is very passionate and easy to talk to during office hours. You get to go to Mt. Lemmon one weekend. Only 1 homeowrk assignment per week, 2 essays, and a final research report. No classes, no quizzes, no tests, no final. Much easier to learn this way.

Easy class. Complete every mastering astronomy,complete all the labs, pass the 3 tests, and you will do fine.

Very enthusiastic, cares a lot, sometimes too much. Easy class to follow up a tier I astronomy class, almost exact same material. Teacher is very strict on phones and computers. Sometimes he PMS's really bad and acts very ****y, you just have to learn to ignore it. Online assignments are lame sometimes.

He definitely favors athletes, but I thought the class was fun and informative. He chose interesting ways of demonstrating the more complex concepts. I ended up not having to take the final because I had so many extra points. Great teacher.

Fleming is an amazing professor. First off, he does use a clicker in class for attendance. However, he assigned so much extra credit that most students were able to get an "A" without taking the final. Essay is an easy 100. Tests are kind of hard but he holds really helpful reviews before + they're not weighted as much as the hw so easy A

cool teacher, easy class

Great teacher, very passionate about the subject. Numerous opportunities for extra credit. Lots of work, but it's usually manageable. Tests are pretty tough, so study hard for those. Definitely a must if you need to fill a NATS requirement.

Mr.Tom was a super nice guy. I got A from this class. You need to have a clicker to record attendance, there is also weekly homework. Don't leave class early, it would upset him. And, he always tries to memorize his students' name!

Yes, he gives a ton of homework.. but it's really not too hard, most of the time you can just google the question and find that somehow has already asked it somewhere on the internet. He does always do attendance with the clickers. Since we're using the new clickers, and they crashed he ended up just giving everyone a 100% on the first midterm!

Dr. Flemming is a fantastic professor- probably a favorite! There is a ton of material to learn so if you go to lecture and do the homework it is a piece of cake. Also, he does demonstrations that really help you understand the hard concepts. Take this class!!!

I love his class. I would take any class he teaches. He is goofy and the work does not take that long at all. It is so easy to get an a as long as you pay attention.

Very passionate about what he teaches and he uses a lot of real world examples that we can relate to. He's a really nice guy and his class isn't too hard but the information can be overwhelming at times.

Stars is an easy A. Gave everyone 100% on the first test because the clickers didn't work for a few student. Very fair and helpful. There is also a ton of extra credit.

He has a passion for teaching and is very clear. Takes attendance but its only worth 2 points a day, not much extra credit opportunities. Do all the homework and study and youll get a decent grade

Great Teacher! Has a real passion for the subject! I am so happy I had him as a teacher this year! Class is fairly easy do the hw and you will be fine! It's rare to find a teacher that loves his job! He definitely does making his class great!

Adorable professor who loves his job. Class has plenty of extra credit opportunities embedded in the homework that almost outweighs your final exam if you do it. Do the work, go to class, and get to know him. Very good guy but might focus too much on engaging the athletes and sorority girls. Easy class if you do your work and have a brain.

ASTR 203 (Stars) was by far the best class I have taken at the U of A. Fleming is very enthusiastic about this field of study which makes it a fun and easy environment to learn in. He likes to include animations, class demonstrations, student participation, and so much more. There are a TON of extra credit points which allows everybody to do well

TAKE THIS CLASS! He is so enthusiastic and loves what he does! As long as you do the homework you will pass the class! He makes astronomy fun and interesting! The Star party is the best part it is actually easy so don't freak out. He was the best professor I have ever had! DO IT!

the tests are near impossible even with a cheat sheet..the class averages on the exams are usually between 60-70% thankfully the online homework is easier and has extra credit or most people would fail..attendance is mandatory to get your clicker points which is a pain but he is very enthusiastic about stars & the universe

Homework is online and you have a week to complete it. He allows one 8.5x11 sheet of paper that you can write all the notes you want for his exams (both sides of the page). And he's always available during office hours to help students. How can anybody NOT earn an "A" in this class??? He's also very enthusiastic and animated. Makes learning fun!

Dr. Fleming is the GREATEST prof. @ the UA. He shows concern for students' grades & makes STARS easy to understand to the gen. stu. He's passionate about astro which makes class interesting! Attendance is mandatory. He'll demonstrate science experiments, animations, participation! Use crypt sheets for the exams! He gives enough extra credit.

Prof. Fleming is by far my favorite professor so far here at UA. He absolutely loves astronomy, so the class is never dull. GO TO CLASS, DO THE HW, Reading textbook depends on the student, I'm an auditory learner and he is quite the talker, I love it. He has strict class rules, but so what, I respect him and his teaching style. Outstanding overall.

I'm not a big science person but he's a really good teacher! He def. shows a lot of passion for Astronomy. I though the actual material could be hard at times but he's always willing to help his students out. HW online, 3 one page papers, drops your lowest test score, helps a lot! Kind of hard class but REALLY good teacher

Fantastic teacher. He is so enthusiastic to teach it makes the class interesting and easy. Only 2 papers required and the online homework has easy ways to get around the difficulty. Either way it's an easy class if you try a little.

He is so passionate about what he teaches and that keeps you interested. Just pay attention to lectures and take notes. Homework is super easy and he weighs that heavier bc he understands not everyone is a good test taker. Study notes and homework sincerely and you're golden.

Dr Fleming is a one-of-a-kind professor! If every professor at this school was like him, the UofA would be heaven! He understands that not all students are good test takers, and helps compensate for that. He is very interested and passionate in what he teaches... He gets so excited he will fumble around the room. The projection unit is really cool.

Dr. Fleming is super nice and very helpful. If you need help go to office hours and he will walk you through step by step. I needed a minor and Dr. Flemings class made me want to be an astronomy minor. Loved this class and love Dr. Fleming!! TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!

Prof. Fleming is a wonderful professor who really loves what he does. This course was taught in the planetarium, so we were able to use the full dome to enhance our learning. Seeing 3D visuals definitely helped me comprehend the material better. The coursework can be hard, but if you at least go to class, you'll pass. And go to the study sessions!

In the first week, Tom will mention that he assigns more homework than most teachers. Don't let this scare you. The homework is easy enough and there's extra credit. If you go to class and pay attention, you won't have any trouble at all. Tom is very helpful and it definitely helps to have a professor that loves what he does. Definitely recommend!

I adore this professor! He made me sign up to become an astronomy Minor because he inspired me so much. He is a tough grader and assigns a lot of work but his class is absolutely great. It's hard to find professors so passionate about what they do and Dr. Fleming is no exception. I would take it over and over again.

I absolutely loved this class-such a cool & funny guy. It's obvious that he cares about his students- he knew me by name! The best part of the class is that it's in the planetarium so he'd present in the full dome. so cool. I got a lot of hw, kinda hard tests(doesn't affect grade too much), 10 page paper(i only wrote 6 & still got 100%). good class

I have taken a lot of really amazing classes at the UA, but this class was truly inspirational. A clicker is required and you have to buy the hw, but it was definitely worth it. Dr. Fleming is an amazing professor and he wants his students to do well. I am even taking another one of his classes next semester!

Ok Im going to be 100% honest here Fam ! So to be real this class is hard for a Gen Ed. Fleming is a really funny, dedicated and respected man. He truly cares and takes the time to learn all of his students names. But I found the class to be hard for a gen ed. Its a lot of work, if you want an easy Gen Ed this is not that class for you lol !

Dr. Fleming is truly one of the best professors I've ever had and he has the best gen ed. He cares about students so much and learns everyone's name in a class of 100+. There is an online homework assignment each week, but lots of extra credit. Not going to lie, you can't sleep through this class to pass, but he makes it so interesting! Take this!!

If you have ever had any fascination about Astronomy, take this course! You will learn so much and if you already have some understanding of the solar system/space you will find yourself an easy A. Dr. Fleming is a true gem of professors and will get to personally know you and everyone in the class. Plenty of extra credit as well!

This class was amazing! Professor Fleming is an amazing teacher who truly cares about his students. He has so much enthusiasm and passion for what he's teaching that it makes you excited to learn. His class is in the planetarium too so the lectures are so cool. All the assignments are online and super easy & theres extra credit every week too!

Took this class as a gen ed, and I was not disappointed. Professor genuinely cares about his students and wants you to learn. Homework is very useful sometimes. Makes good use of the full dome projector to show some mind blowing things. Tests can be tough at times but if you just do the work and study you'll be fine. Cheat sheets allowed on tests.

His lectures are amazing! Very nice man! His classes on Multiple Murder are very interesting, plus I never want to miss this class the content is good! I would take every class of his if I could!

HW is worth alot of points, so if you fail tests you will be okay. Clicker "participation" every day so show up. He is very sweet and learns your name and remembers things about you. Paper are easy and fun.

It is obvious how much Professor Fleming cares about astronomy and getting people to care about space. Class format using the campus planetarium and demonstrations made class much more enjoyable and easy to focus on. Uses slide notes, but his cadence and personality make it less boring. Tests are not hard if you mostly pay attention.

Fleming is an amazing professor and knows almost all of the students that attend class by name. I ended with a C in the class but for some reason, without me asking, my grade suddenly was a B. I think if you go to class, participate, and he knows you he will help you out at the end of the semester.

Still uses flash animations on a windows 7 computer, but also knows how to navigate the internet. Participation requires clickers which is a bit annoying but other than that I have no complaints for that class.

Great professor. I was never into science or anything ever but I needed science credits for my tier 1 gen eds. His classroom is beautiful and he is able to show his teachings through a projector showing the entirety of the universe. Now all of a sudden I have a big interest in astronomy and he has been an inspirational teacher in my opinion

Dr. Fleming has been my favorite professor so far here at U of A. He truly does care about all of his students and wants them to succeed. The dome in the observatory is a huge plus to this class and makes learning so much fun. DO THE HOMEWORK. I averaged 70% on all 3 tests and still ended with an A due to my homework points. One big 10 page paper.

Has great teaching ability, supplementing concepts with memorable demonstrations. He's very willing to answer questions, but may seem blunt when doing so, although he's just very direct. May sometimes take questions in the wrong direction, but willing to help nonetheless. Very helpful during office hours as well. Strict on no cell phone usage.

Great at explaining hard concepts and making them understandable; the class involves physics but he makes sure it isn't math heavy. Has really fun demonstrations in class and seeing the galaxy projected on the dome for class is amazing. Weekly homework is a big part of the grade, and there is a 10-page final paper due. The notes are pretty heavy and the homework is extensive. However, he is absolutely hilarious. I honestly enjoy going to lectures. He does in person demos. He made me pelt him with a dodge ball once? Responds fast to emails. Overall great guy. Would die for papa tom.

This course is mandatory and is graded by attendance and an assignment due every week. There are readings and you just have to reflect on them by following a rubric. Inside of the class, there is a lot of opportunities in talking with the people around you. It was great to meet people. He is a great instructor, and cares about each of his students.

Homework and notes both take a long time to complete but overall pretty easy to do well on. Exams are horrible and really difficult to do well on however if you go to class and complete the homework you will do well in this class. Lectures are extremely entertaining and enjoyable. I enjoyed how he projected images onto the dome of the planetarium.

The best class you will ever take at the UA. This class won't exist anymore but if you have a chance to learn from Dr. Fleming, take it. He's great at explaining astronomy concepts even for people who don't have a background in the field and making them interesting and applicable. I really enjoyed my time in UNIV. Prof Fleming was really understanding and an easy grader. I liked that he encouraged participation from everyone and it seemed like he really cared about the Gen Ed curriculum! I would definitely take him again.

One of the kindest and funniest professors I have had at University. He is so passionate about what he teaches and articulates lessons well. He doesn't want to see phones or for you to be distracted. You'll have to study for the midterms but if you go to class/review sessions and take good notes you'll be good, overall super interesting.

Cares about what he is talking about and is definitely great to be taught in the Planetarium. Sometimes gets mad at his students, but rare. SUPER passionate about his field of study. Never responded to questions with 'I don't know', and made an effort to remember students names. DONT text during class, he will stand in front of you and loudly call you out/invite you to leave. Avoid the urge to sleep when the dome is on. It's not because he's boring, the seats are just good nap seats.
