Tom Geary was a great teacher, he really made class interesting and there was never a dull moment. He works with you on your writing, gives great criticism, and works with all his students the same. There is no other teacher that I would take English with but him!

Best English teacher I have ever had. He somehow remembers everyone's name the first day. Recommends a lot of group work which is helpful, and overall is engaged as writer,reader,teacher,and helpful person when you need him.

He rocks. Geary's young enough to know his subject and relate to his students. He can capture your interest and hold it with one-liners and humor. The guy is incredible. Highly recommend him.

He's a really good professor. He allows you to resubmit work if you don't like your grade. He is also pretty lax with deadlines. Funny guy who actually tries to help his students. However, he is one of the slowest graders I've seen, submitted an essay in january and got the graded copy back in april.

Mr. Geary is a very cool teacher. He's young so he really can relate to his students. He gets off track sometimes with his humor, but its needed in the classroom sometimes. He required an 8 page essay with 20 sources, but he gives yo enough time to complete it. The only problem with him is that he is very slow at grading.

His class is not an easy A, but he is a really helpful teacher and lets you re-do work and revise it for a better grade. He makes you work for your grade, and feel accomplished about it. He is very personable, and I enjoyed his class thoroughly.

Awesome guy! He's quirky and makes the class as entertaining as he can. He gives really good advice on your writing assignments if you ask for it. Incredibly helpful. Sometimes you won't get grades back until the end of the semester, but it's a small price to pay. He gives 1 or 2 big essays and a few 1-2 page writing assignments.

Geary "Tom" is hilarious. He makes class interesting, I took this class over the summer and never had to look at the clock. Pay attention and read his blackboard notes, participate, and follow his directions on how to write. He also gives good feedback. Don't be offended from is corrections, learn from them.

Mr Geary pretends to be "cool". This is Eng 112 at TCC. He makes the class difficult. Too many graded assignments. Last day to drop and receive a "W" is this week. Yet he has only graded the quizzes and 1:6 papers turned in. Grading technique is difficult. Expects you to be able to read his mind when comes to grading.

Geary is a great professor! The class itself isn't super easy. This semester we had a few papers to write and one presentation. The only issue with Geary is that he grades very slowly so there is not much time to get feedback on the major papers. He is very willing to help his students in his time between classes. He is very helpful.

Geary is a good guy, with a good sense of humor. BUT, he tends to give quite a bit of graded work that he takes forever to grade & he is a pretty strict grader. He also tends to digress during class (likes to respond to the annoying student comments). I'm not a slacker by any means and he is a great prof, but be prepared to work!

My favorite class that I took at TCC out of both years. Engaging to the highest degree. He really knows how to teach the material, and it's 100% relatable to the real world. I probably would've hated this class if it wasn't taught by Mr. Geary.

Thomas Geary is the best English teacher! He is a down to earth professor who keeps his students in mind. He is not a tough grader, but there are a lot of papers. Most of them are optional group projects, and if you get a low grade he will let you redo the assignment. Easy A+!!

This teacher is a nice guy. I really hated this class though so maybe I'm a bit bias. It was the group project at the end that made me hate it. I had two ESL partners in an ENGLISH class and I had to do the majority of the project myself. He pretty much said I was on my own so I withdrew. I had an A, but didn't want to lose it. I took Mr. Geary over the summer & I was not disappointed. He is hilarious and silly, but a great teacher overall. Mr. Geary is a phenomenal teacher, laid back, but knows when to be serious and how to grab peoples attention. Hilarious. If there's something Geary loves more than teaching English, it's that his students are enjoying the class. I have considered taking another one of his English classes just for experience even though my degree doesn't require it.

My first class I decided I would drop. After telling myself to wait it out, I found him to be a great teacher. English is a dreary subject, but he gives clear feedback and allows for revisions. No textbook was used.

ENG 111-Spring 18. I cannot say this enough, AMAZING! Hands down my favorite professor at TCC VB. He gives very good instructions and directions. T. Eng 111 was the first class I took at TCC. It's been a while, I was relying on my brains more then on my body. On top of everything, English is my second language, so I was extremely nervous. Well, I was wrong. I think he is amazing teacher. He makes learning fun, and, in my experience, it is the most positive and successful way to do it.

WOW! Tom is so great. He taught us about people I had never even heard of. For example, he taught us about Marlene Dietrich. That girl is WILD! I never knew that Prussians were so influential in the arts.

My favorite professor at TCC so far. I was lucky enough to have selected him for HUM 260 and I elected for his ENG 112 class in the following semester. Tom's class requires a lot of work, but its not hard, just takes time. He is very relatable as a young professor and is very pasionate about teaching and the subjects being taught.

Tom is probably the best professor @ TCC! Some of the assignments can be time-consuming, but it's for your own good. It's certainly not an easy A, but if you put the time and effort in, you will do well. Not to mention, you'll be able to revise any written paper(to improve the grade). If you actually want to learn something, I'd go with Tom.

I have taken Thomas Geary for English 111 and 112, both by choice. There is a fair to heavy homework load, but most/all of the homework assignments directly relate and tie into bigger assignments/essays which makes everything much easier. Due dates are very lenient because he understands everyone has lives outside of class. 10/10 recommend.

Absolutely love Tom, by far one of the greatest professors I've ever had. He gives excellent feedback and gives you time to revise your essays. He gives a lot of homework but it all relates to what you will be doing later on in the course.

Tom is AMAZING! His class is very fun and he makes the class go by fast. He lets you revise graded assignments for a higher grade till the end of the semester. The only assignment that was hard was the digital storytelling project. You should definitely take your English classes with him!

I took his online course for Technical Report Writing. I think he was an excellent professor. The assignments were very involving, but that's just the course itself. If you're looking at taking his course, do it! No matter what he teaches, he is an excellent teacher and is always trying his best to help you learn and pass. 15/10 would recommend!

I hope you like writing every night. Most reviews of Prof. Geary fail to mention the negatives of the class. I guess he does a good job when explaining assignments, but he does not teach the skills to execute the assignments. If you prefer minimum in-class guidance this is the class for you. On a positive note, I will agree in saying is super funny

Dr. Geary is never afraid to help you with just about anything. He made sure that by Essay 2, you were the best prepared for it.

Best professor I've ever had. Super funny, helpful, and down to earth. The Essays are stressful but he guides you and sets you up for success through all of them. You can redo most assignments for a better grade and he's quick with responding to emails. He does grade pretty harsh, using the "average work gets a c" scale, but it's not too bad.

Tom is my absolute favorite. You will write a few papers, but he allows you to revise them as much as you want, and you can just keep doing it until you get a good grade. He hates Mayo and has a cute dog he loves name daisy. Not much homework other than a few readings and to work on your assignments. Highly recommend!!

Geary's class was by far my favorite class of the semester. He is very down to earth and relatable which makes class enjoyable. (Asynchronous) Take this from someone who has hated writing and english class forever, this class was great, there is a fair amount of work, but its not an unreasonable amount, and Geary will give you better feedback than any other professor. I wish I had him for a live class, but if you see Geary as an option for a class, take it.

Easily one of the best English professors I've ever had, as long as you don't half ass stuff you'll be fine. Grading can sometimes be a little on the tougher side but its more than offset by the fact he keeps class lighthearted and fun. Not once did I dread going into his class, which I think I can only say about two professors I've ever had.

Out of all the classes I took, Only on his class I didn't sleep or bored in his class. He teaches his class very engaging way and covers the class topics efficiently and concisely.

Super progressive when it comes to grading and attendance. Anything you submit you can revise at any time and you can attend via zoom even if you are in a face to face course. His canvas page is super well organized compared to almost all other professors i've had. Also just an all around hilarious and chill guy too.

I took his course for 111 and 112 and he has been the best professor I have ever taken. The essays he assign are the majority of your grade but you can revise them at any time up until the end of the semester. I would take him for both English courses if you have the chance to. His lectures are always fun and there is never a boring moment

Geary is hands down one of the best prof I have ever had. He is a very understanding teacher who wants you to pass the class. During ENG112 you write 2 papers one with 3 pages and one was 5, Attendance is not mandatory if you take an in-person class, but he does allow you to get on Zoom to listen to the lecture. I will recommend him to everyone!

Thomas was absolute great. I really wish I had taken Eng111 with him as well, but I'm glad I got to take at least one class with him. He's very understanding and even though the classes were in person, if you couldn't come in, he allowed for students to tune in through zoom. He gave great feedback and encouraged participation.

Tom Geary was the professor of the first college class I ever took, ENG 111. To this day as I'm approaching graduation with my bachelors, I've never had a professor like him. His way of teaching and involving the class was very engaging and fun for an English class. He encourages discussion and independent thinking. I would recommend him.

I took his online Humanities 260 class, and Mr. Geary was always consistent in his weekly videos, expectations, grading and communication. This made the class a lot easier as I knew what to expect from the get-go, and the feedback I'd get was very encouraging!

Professor Geary was amazing! he breaks the assignments down to you very well! he really cares about the interaction with his students. His assignments weren't overbearing and he lets you make things up within reason.
