if you LOVE history and all you read are history books, you will do fine in the class, but he is incredibly arrogant. All he gives are essay tests and the questions are half a page long. Did I mention he is incredibly arrogant....?
He is not necessarily difficult but he is not very helpful in uncontollable circumstances either. He is very arrogant as the other student stated. He does know his History especially Chinese Hist. his favorite subject. He loves to talk about sailing.
Hard class but his approach is good-He teaches the class so that you remember the material, he can be intimadating but after you get to know him it's just his style-He's not there to babysit.
Hard essay questions.
Dr. Graham is an enthusiastic teacher who loves his subject. I learned alot. I hated him the first 2 weeks until I got to know him. He's wierd, but kool. Don't take him too seriously - he will realize if he's treated you wrong.
Great Lecturer that you wont fall asleep to, you'll learn a lot and he might even recommend you for honors, if you want. BUT very difficult tests. You end up having to go to all the lectures. HE HATES late people too... but overall one of my best teachers
Great teacher if you're willing to do the work. Knows his subject and is incredibly passionate. Not arrogant so much as sick of whiny students who still think they're in high school. For an interesting and thought provoking history class, he's your man

This was by far one of the more difficult classes I have taken at GPC--however it was also extremely interesting--Dr. Graham is a great teacher and lecturer--and puts up with no bull form students! If you are ready to take a real college class- take his!
He is very difficult, but as the other rating have stated, his class is a serious college class and not for the weak. If you pursue him for help he will do whatever he can, but he is not a babysitter. In addition, the arrogance is actually bitterness.
Great teacher, very glad that he is my teacher. Class is hard but if you listen, you learn. Testes are also hard but again if you listen to him and take good notes, you will do fine. Once again he is a great teacher!

He is crazy and paranoid!
Good teacher, but very difficult. It's definitely an intricate college class and he doesn't take any Bull****t. Three important things: dont be late for a quiz, take good notes, and****before class. His lectures are good, even a little amusing at times.
the tests are hard and all essays, so you really have to study. but the quizzes are easy so that will help with your grade. he is a great lecturer, very inetersting. i would recommend him, but only if you are willing to invest some time studying!
Awful teacher...don't take him, take bennekin!!!
Great teacher !!! He loves history. Hard class and the exams are essay. But you learn a lot. If I had to take History again I would only take him. Great teacher.
History BUFF! Take good notes and you'll do fine. Tests are easy if u study notes, classes are all lectures, interesting class i learned so much, and i thought i knew it all (hist major), he knows his stuff and doesn't BS- FUN guy, class hard if ur not interested in HISTORY otherwise its all GOOD
Classic Narcissist. Berates students, chastizes when you are five mintues late. Worst experience I have had in college thus far and I am a Deans List student. Do yourself a favor and avoid this class at all costs. If this review is removed by Dr. Graham I assure you I will be leaving another.
Frankly, Dr. Graham is a hottie to me...in an older guy kinda way. Yes, he's a narcisist, but quite hilarious if you can look at it humorously. I learned ALOT from this guy. He's wierd - but oh well - not boring.
This class is hard ONLY if you don't show up or take notes. The tests are essays, but as long as you study, he is easy on the grading. I thought the class was very interesting. If you are going to slack off, don't take this class. If you really want to learn, this is the class for you.
AWFUL Teacher!!!
Excellent professor. Knows history well, and explains it well (clear, concise, covers important points), and has sense of humor (so it's enjoyable). Anyone interested in knowing what is going on in the world should take this class.
A strong speaker whose endless fascination and love of history shows in every one of his great class lectures. If you're truly interested in learning about history with a bit of effort, this is the only teacher really worth taking. Also, it is quite possible to get an A by merely keeping up notes.
He hates you to be late, and can be really mean to students, but he is a very good teacher and knows his stuff. If u can make it on time and take good notes from lectures you will be fine.
Very knowledgeable history person. Punishes students very hard when they are late. You must maintain great concentration and notes to make it in this class. His lectures are long and require quick note taking. Has a good sense of humor, and sarcastically funny at times. Overall a fair guy.
Amazing professor. He made the class interactive, not easy when the subject is history. The class was not hard, so if you take notes on the lectures and study you will do great. Whatever you do, do not be late.
He is an incredibly goodteacher, he totally knows his stuff, and you have to really hate history to not be interested in his class. HOWEVER, he's a total **** about attendence, particularly tardiness, and he doesn't seem to care too much on a one-on-one basis.
Seemed mean at first, but later became my favourite history teacher of all times. Got a truly unique way of bringing the material. Yeah, **** rules on tardies, but it's minor. at least i don't look at the clock 10 times an hr and try never miss that class. He admits his own mistakes and lets u correct him. Highly recommended (like y'all say)
He was condescending at times which made it difficult to feel comfortable to ask questions. I did not enjoy his class very much. he also put down students by making snide comments. maybe he thought he was being funny I thought it was mean.
I'm really disappointed. His lecture is enthusiastic and interesting but he was hard! Aside from his picky ESSAY EXAM grading, he was very condenscending. I felt uncomfortable asking him anything because he'd refer me to the syllabus and not answer the question at all. "I don't know look in the syllabus"..ugh, avoid him.
he is a very good teacher
Ok, he was not as bad a teacher as most people made him out to be. The hardest part of the class to me, was the map test, apart from that, he was very easy. His lectures were very interesting and story like. I'll recommend him to anyone and everyone.
One of the worst teachers that I have ever had at Perimeter. He is not helpful and he's paranoid. Some of the things he says to students is uncalled for. His tests are so hard and he tries to be very picky about your essays. It's awful. He's got MAJOR issues! I wish he'd retire!
Do your homework, ask questions and you will have no problems.
Very good teacher. His lectures are very interesting and informative. If you take good notes and read, you will be fine. His office door is always open for anyone who needs help. Great teacher. Take this class if you want to learn the material well and come out with a good grade.
Can be intimidating, but he is very passionate about his job. If you read and take notes and be able to relate history to the present, you can get a decent grade.
He tries to scare you the first day into thinking his class is brutal. As long as you take good notes and participate in discussion you will do fine. Never show up late, he will hate you if you do.
Can stay awake during lectures. Ok, not too boring. Knows his stuff and is very straight foward. His tests are all writing so if youre a guess and pick, dont take this class.
He is a great teacher and he really knows his history. i really like him and i thought he was a very nice man. He is always willing to help you out no matter what. He also makes it really easy to understand the topic, but his test are so hard you really have to know the material.
Great teacher. Awesome history knowledge and makes it an actual fun class by using role playing etc. Not the easiest in the world since all his tests are essay but he is a very fair grader and also has other grades to make up for bad test grades. Great teacher highly recommend him.
Dr. Graham is a great teacher. i took him for all of my required history. You will learn a lot because he teaches like he is telling a story. He is extremely organized and knows his subject, but he is never condesending. i would highly recomend taking his class. you really dont have to study that much... just listen and you will make an A.
THE BEST HISTORY PROFFESOR!!!! I have a science based major so I hate these kinds of classes but he made history soo fun. I still remember all of the basic facts of US history because of him. TAKE HIS CLASS!!
I took Graham's Honor's class. He comes off as a hard@ss, and well, he kind of is. Stick it out though, and you will learn a lot and probably fair pretty well in the end. He doesn't hold your hand. He expects you to work hard. You have to write a 15 page research paper, but it isn't that bad. 3 essay exams, a map test, but no final, midterm, or qui
He's okay when it comes to lecture although a bit 2 opinionated about things he really doesn't know.Cool for people who don't know facts annoys if you do.Also likes you to suck up for the higher grade.I wouldn't advise anyone who cares for their GPA to take him.Not "so" hard just annoying. If you do, on exams write big he thinks its more info.
DON'T TAKE THIS GUY!!! Grades too rough and has a rediculous point system that keep you on the edge until the final so reguardless if you have an A on everything its still up to him to whether or not you get one due to how heavy the final is, so that will keep you guessing the whole semester. I had an A all semester until Final finished with B.
I took him with Professor G for History through film. He loves history, but he is a military guy so he is a bit harsh. Don't come late, he'll point you out in front of the class. He knows his stuff, but you better know yours too.
I was challenged in his class but it was easy, interesting and very useful. I learned a lot of good stuff.
This guy knows his stuff but his lectures are very fast paced! He gives you some choice over your grade. He lets you pick between quizzes or 2 book reviews. There is also a map test, 2 regular tests and a final exam. Overall, its possible to pass his class but be prepared to do a good amount of studying to earn your grade!
He is a pretty cool teacher. He is clear about what he expects and if you do the work you will get a good grade.
Great teacher, just do the work and pay attention and be on time and you are good to go
Dr. Graham is a little tough and he doesn't mind yelling at you if you are late to his class. I hate essay type test and that is what he requires. The only good thing I can say is that at least his final isn't cumulative. He is a loud talker and he lectures fast. He wasn't my favorite professor, but definitely not my worst either!!
I'm sorry but this guy is AWESOME. He can be rude, yell at people and brush you off, but he has such dry humor it makes you like him EVEN more! Allows laptops for mid/final, lectures are pretty straight forward.. DO NOT WALK INTO HIS CLASS LATE, you will be embarrassed. :) I would take him again!
This was my 2nd time taking this history class (1st time with him), and he made everything so easy to understand. He makes sure everyone understands, and reminds you that the people and places we learned about were real, just like us. He encourages using your laptop on tests, and has a map test, which is easy, study. He's interesting and cares.
He is VERY knowledgeable. This class have just a few exams which are essay based. This a very difficult test type, but the professor is a very cool guy. He explains things perfectly but the only problem I had was that the test are very hard. If you want a easy A this is NOT the class.
how to get an A: take at least 10 of the quizzes, and do well on the map test. his exams are essays and he prefers you to use a laptop, so type your notes into your laptop and then reference them during the exam. he doesn't check up on that. you will definately get an A, and I promise that almost everyone in the class does it.
Tough, loud, fast paced. Knows his stuff. Be on time, or he points you out. Laptops preferred for essay testing. Don't cheat. "Just listen" is not enough, read the textbook.
Really awesome!!!Explain very clearly, it feels as though you are watching the history happen.
I LOVED this teacher!! He is the kind of teacher that would love to talk about history anytime and anywhere. The excitement that this guy has is needed for an early class. I would tell everyone to take him.
horrible teacher, his quizzes have nothing to do with anything he lectures and his tests are essay only. he gave one test with 2 essays that had to be at least two pages typed single spaced with 3 short answers that had to be 3/4 page long each and only had an hour fifteen to take it. if you have no interest in history i wouldnt suggest taking this
He is very nice and kind. He knows and loves history. Before I took his class, history was my enemy, but during the time I was learning it with Mr. Graham, I've learned a lot, not just his class, but the world around me and my background. I never opened a textbook since I read another two books. And I got an A.
take notes!!! and pay attention!!! this class is pretty hard this guys test are straight up essays you have like 4 essays and you pick two you have like 10 quizzes and like these article that were written ages ago and you have to translate them. you really have to pay attention to pass this class. wouldn't take a class like this again
Professor Graham was a GREAT teacher. Very passionate, helpful, and interesting. He makes the class fun. His tests are challenging, but if you know what you are talking about, you will be fine. Be prepared to write. Again, GREAT prof!
He has passion, and he is good teacher, but kinda tough, if you are gonna take him you gotta do many things, not easy for international student!! too many terms lol
Ok teacher. A ton of note taking and his lectures are very monotone and hard to follow. Whatever you do, DO NOT BE LATE!! he like freaks out if you're one second late. Its quite strange...
Expect a lot of work. Lots of note taking. ALL TESTS ARE ESSAY FORMAT! Do not take his class if you are just looking to blow through it a make an easy A. Lots of reading, large but easy map quiz. Reminds me of a HS teacher. Tons of quizzes that are from outside of class assigned readings. Tons of work, hard test. But you will know your hist
Dr. Graham, is an amazing teacher. He teaches with a great passion. Tests are not hard at all. Yes a lot work, but with a reward. Don't be late have some respect, it is disterbing for others. He has rules just fallow them. Do what he says and you will be fine. Take him you won't regret it.
Dr. G is the BEST teacher at GPC. He is hilarious, very smart, and a nice guy. Don't be late to his class, study hard and take good notes and you will get an A. Don't be scared of the essay tests, they are a breeze (even if history is not your thing!)
History can be excruciating if the teacher is boring but i was never bored in his class. Not much homework besides studying 4 quizes each week(matching key terms and people).Tests are essay but that means there's a lot more leniency than multiple choice plus he's not a hard grader.Just make sure you attend class.Take good notes 2 study 4 his test.
I've taken Dr. G twice, and I wish I had another history to take with him! I loved his class, I adore him and his way of teaching! I highly suggest taking him! He is a riot!!! :)
Great history teacher. Study for your MAP TEST cuz he thinks if you fail map test your only burger flippin' potential. He makes the subject matter very easy to understand. Gives 3 pretty hard Essay tests which have a lot of weight on your grade so study for those too and make good grades on his easy matching quizzes. Good professor. Has a doctorate
If you liked you teachers in High School, then you will love this guy. He makes a big deal if you are late and also calls people out in the middle of class for not paying attention. he gives a lot of busy work including three exam test which are all in essay form. I am in this class now and it looks like I am going to get my first C in college EVER
he is really crazy about being late to class but the test are easy he doesnt take off a lot of points and the quizzes are a breeze. he has a yelling problem though!
Best teacher ever.
This is by far one of the worst teachers I have had. Do not be late, or even whisper. He picks favorites in his class, and is very rood. Only essay tests, and he gives you at least the pages to study for in book for quizzes, except he exceeds those pages on quiz,so study past pages he gives you to study for. He treats you like you in high schoo
i took the HISTORY THRU FILM CLASS w/ dr G & mr G.. dr G is very intense & knows his stuff inside & out!! if u dont hav thick skin DONT TAKE HIS CLASS b/cus he will crush u verbally If u r or were previously n the military HE'S GONNA LOVE U! definite advantage. tests r essay tests only!! so if u arent good with HIST dont take him.. VERY FUNNY tho
I had the History thru Film classes. Best 6 credits I ever earned. Dr G teaches with Prof G. They are like brothers from different mothers. Great combo! Don't be late though. You watch movies and learn.
Over the top ridiculous about being late. His tests are difficult and points deducted for anything and everything. I would never take his class again and recommend no one else take him either.
He was a very hard professor, but if you study you will do well. His sense of humor is dry, but funny. Don't be late!!! You take reading quizzes, but get to drop your worst 3. His tests are essay and can be challenging if you don't put in the time to study.
Cool guy cool class
I had Dr. Graham for hist 1112 a few semesters ago,& it's the most informative history course I've taken thus far. He presents the material very effectively. And to all the complainers: He is a professor, not a social worker. It's not his job to listen to you whine & make excuses, so grow up you heathens.
Professor Graham is a good teachers lots of knowledge and plenty of years teaching Slideshows are long but with lots of info so write fast. Essay exams are a bit tough so study alot and know your material to not get writers block during exam. Oh and never arrive late to class if possible.
Really great guy. I'd probably let him teach me physics if I could. Overall, he makes the class interesting and worth your while. Just don't be late; he hates it when his class is interrupted. You will need your book for the essays, but quizzes are simple as hell.
Awesome teacher. If you do the work, participate, and study, it's an easy A. If you slack off and disrespect him, he will call you out. HIGHLY recommended.
GREAT TEACHER!! I had him last semester and is easily one of the best teachers I've ever had! He really makes History fun and interesting. He is engaging, Funny and cusses with is pretty cool lol. I would recommend him to anyone, just make sure you ace that map test and do good on your quizzes!
Essay/ID exams, you have an hour and 15 minutes to right 2 to 3 paragraphs + a full essay on a given topic. Lots of note taken daily, you must write as much as you can. option of book quizzes or 2 reviews on books of a given topic. Have fun.
Lots of notes. drops 3 lowest quiz grades. the written test are hard but write as much as you know. very interesting class overall, nice guy who is not afraid of telling it how it is!!
Lots of notes. drops 3 lowest quiz grades. the written test are hard but write as much as you know. very interesting class overall, nice guy who is not afraid of telling it how it is!!
Hist Thru Film...Dr. Graham is a great teacher, but be warned his class is NOT AN EASY CLASS. You will need to come to class, take notes, and study for tests. That being said, I will never forgot what I learned from this class. He is smart and engaging and I would recommend him to any student who enjoys learning.
If you take this class be prepared to write essays! Three essay exams and 13 quizzes, three lowest are quizzes are dropped. Dont be late or sleep...he will call you out. Also, write as much as you know on the essays. I struggled in the class just to get a B!
He is a good professor. He really knows how to teach. His class is not easy but it is doable. He gives 13 quizzes and 3 tests. He drops 3 quizzes grade. He made history interesting.
Probably the best Professor I've had in my time in College. More than informative and very well organized. Be warned though, his class is hard. Amazingly hard, but doable if you apply yourself and take serious notes. Also, attendance is a must, he hates lateness. Still, brilliant professor if you're looking to actually learn something.
Damn ! He is hard as hell. He knows a lot. Study hard; otherwise, you will fail. He tries to explain everything through logic, but he is just too hard.
This class is hard, I had to put so much time into this class. He is also kinda of rude, he treats people like they are in high school. If you ask questions he answers them sarcastically and makes you feel like a fool.
This teacher needs to more professional. If you ask him any question he doesnt answer it. I wouldnt recommend at all.
He's a cool professor. More than likely it's usually a student's lack of commitment to being studious for his class. It's just history; more specifically intro history. History doesn't change. Just know the 'it is' & recollect. He is blunt, dislikes lateness & has a military background. So suck it up, enjoy his class & learn something from him.
Graham rocks as a professor. You need to be prepared to work hard, take lots of notes, and be there, on time, every class. If you follow his instructions and USE YOUR SYLLABUS, it really is not that bad. He is difficult, but his lectures are very engaging and he makes history easy to understand, even for us non-history buffs. I highly recommend him
I took Dr. Graham on my 1st semester. He really knows history but I would not recommend him to any international student who just get to US for less than 2 years tho i did well in his class. He is a strict professor and expect you to understand his instructions and does not help if you ask him back. He will treat you as a high school student.
This guy is ridiculously rude. He treats his students like high school students -- yells at them for being late and yells at students for having phones. Also rushes students out loud while taking quizzes and only gives them 6 minutes because he's impatient. Basically not even enough time to write your own name. Awful and disrespectful.
Honestly one of the best professors i've ever had. Not an "Easy A" but you will remember the material after the class is over because he teaches history in such an engaging way. If you keep up with your syllabus, go to class every day, and take good notes, you'll do fine. He seems intimidating at first, but he really does care about his students.
One of the best lecturers I've ever had. Very engaging and interesting. He gives essay tests, which are hard, and is strict about phone usage, food, and sleeping in his class. Be ready to take lots of notes. Awesome class for people who are good at history. Would definitely recommend this professor.
I will remember this professor forever. This review is kind of pointless because he is retiring after this semester (SO I HEAR). The class was slightly challenging but he really makes you want to learn the material. Seriously! His lectures were the highlight to my day. I know this all sounds crazy but I promise I was not the only one to admit.
The best professor Ive ever had. Lucky enough to catch him the last semester hes teaching, but he was truly inspiring and loved what he did. Despite me being terrible at history, he made his lectures somehow very engaging, even humorous. If you go out of your way to get to know him, he is really a great guy and means well for all his students.
Overall, he was an amazing history teacher who made his lectures super interesting. On his powerpoint slides he was very visual and would engage in class demonstrations to keep the class awake and involved. He did not tolerate any childish behavior and was strict about guidelines. By far he was my favorite history teacher, a true inspiration!
