cool teacher crapy class, but he trys to make the class a little easy. vary anal about outlines watch out for that
Fun, knowledgeable, slightly crazed, Outline addict.
The class seemed hard at first, but Tom Graves is a great teacher who pushes students to do their best. I hated giving speeches and at the end of the semester I began to love it. Don't expect an easy A.
great dude. Works hard in class. Really wants you to learn. I was afraid to give speeches but he helped me-a lot. Read the book, listen and take good notes and you should do well.
I hate speech class-my second time. Tom is an excellent professor. Works hard, crazy at times, and keeps the class going. Just ask and he's willing to help you! He reads everything so don't turn in weak work. Thanks Mr. T!
Mr. Devil's advocate: Passionate about the subject, excellent speaker, interesting, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, approachable, cool, humorous, always informed, cleverly sarcastic... Fun & valuable class; don't be late and enjoy the ride!
This is one amazing teacher. He is so awsome and so funny! He is also very helpful. He will go out of his way to give you the help you need. He makes things in this class very easy to understand. I actually looked forward to going to this class. I highly recomend this man. You wont regret it!
He is one of my favourite teachers. He is smart, funny, clear. And he offers 30 points extra credit!!!
Tom is a fantastic teacher and man. Throughout the entire time I was in his class I truly felt privelaged to be there. He does a great job of getting the class involved in the material and bonds can easily be formed between him and the students. The only thing I regret is that there isn't a follow up class I can take with him again.
By far this is the best teacher at Grossmont. Not only is his class easy and fun, the teacher has a great personality. He truly cares about his students and you really get to know him as a person. I promise you this: you will not regret taking this class with this teacher!!!!
Very good teacher. Take him! Class was very fun. A class that I looked farward to every friday.
Good guy. He's very enthusiastic about teaching, and makes you feel like he cares.
Mr. Tom is, by far, the best professor I have ever had. He is the embodiment of The Perfect Teacher.

Mr. Graves has great communication skills. Experienced in his field. Very precise about the grading scale. He explains everything and is extremely helpful. The outline assignment was the most difficult assignment ever! He is funny to watch during lectures. He is kinda CRAZY!

Don't call him 'Professor' or 'Mr'. He's Tom and can relate to his students on multiple levels. He enjoys teaching; a dying quality among teachers. What makes it even more advantageous to the student is that he's actually good at it. He's tough, but fair. Not an easy A - but you'll walk away with knowledge. What's more important to you?
This instructor really cares about his students learning. And will go the extra mile to ensure that one understands the assignment. He is approachable, and has a calm demeanor. He is extremely knowledgable in his field of expertise. I did not want to take this class because i hate speaking in public. He really helped me endure to the end.
Tom is a great speaking instructor. He is approachable, understanding, and light hearted. You will be expected to do all your speaking assignments, but you are given plenty of time to prepare. Take advantage of the time Tom gives you and DO NOT procrastinate. Overall you will develop an appreciation for public speaking and lose any fears you had.
He's got a great sense of humor, definately not easy though. He gives you plenty to think about and do, so listen up and you'll learn a lot. Hes great, less like a teacher and more like a distant relative you never knew you had.
Is really fun the first day and consistently (although a little less than the first day) though out the semester. Makes a really feel good first impression but is firm in his demeanor and controls the class well but not like a boarding school. Very interactive
GREAT TEACHER...VERY HANDS-ON...YOU WILL BENEFIT A LOT FROM HIS CLASS...IF YOU'RE NERVOUS ABOUT PUBLIC SPEAKING...TAKE THIS CLASS...BY THE END OF THE SEMESTER YOU'RE PUBLIC SPEAKING WILL HAVE IMPROVED DRAMATICALLY...JUST DON'T PROCRASTINATE...HE GIVES YOU PLENTY OF TIME TO PREPARE AND DON'T BE AFRAID TO ASK HIM FOR HELP...HE'S ALWAYS THERE FOR YOU.
Very liberal teacher. If he does not like your subjecthe will nit pick it. Has his favorites in the class and those are the ones that get the good grades. the rest will suffer
Fun teacher! Very interactive, low level of lecture. Hes a very good teacher too, very dynamic. Maybe a little ****y, but as long as he can teach i think hes allowed to be
If you want to learn how to speak in front of an audience HE'S THE GUY TO TAKE! Very easy going, relaxed, helpful, etc. Only problem is that he's kind of opinionated... and liberal..
One sided teacher, doesn't communicate good with others oppionions, hard to understand. DO NOT TAKE.
Excellent teacher, test are simple, just study notes and read chapters; when studying skim over text pages; very helpful and he love's what he does
Tom is one of the best teachers that i have ever taken. He truly loves teaching. He has such a passion for it & what he teaches you really use. He has a lot of fun and really cares about his students. I also did a speech comp & won b/c of his teaching. He is a truly gifted teacher that's why i am taking him again for Comm 103&107. He's great!
Mr. T. is the coolest teacher ever. I loved this man's class. I would recommend him to anyone interested in the communications field. He is very knowledgeable and laid back. He can be stern however, he is still down to earth. Class discussions were great. He made you feel as though you were at home. Loved this class and would love to take another.
take this class if you are serious about public speaking. prof graves is fantastic!
Mr Graves, is cool but he is hard and so are his tests. Honestly he admitts he has given the same mid &final for the last few semesters. & not many people pass. Fair but be prepared to work.
Tom is a really good Professor... very funny and nice. He takes really serious the out lines and speeches of communication 103 !! other then that he is a good teacher hope i pass hes class ... p.s he turns your class work really late that's the only thing bad about him!!
Professor Graves is probably hands down the best teacher i have ever had. Honestly i thought i knew how to give a speech but let me tell you something...he took what i believed and smashed it by showing all the faults i had in my previous experiences and totally showed me how to do it right! if you have a speech class dont waste time.TAKE HIS CLASS
hes cool, funny, very specific, demanding on outlines in a good way. you should take him!!
Nice, but couldn't stand him. Complained a lot about having to baby college students, then at the end of the semester asked us if there wer other ways he could continue to do so! This guy is a PILL. Also, republicans are not welcome in his class, if you want a good grade you had better learn how to put on your liberal hats! NOT RECOMMENDED
Did not enjoy his class. Used info from other books he did not supply as well as the textbook which made it very confusing. Every question anyone answered in his class was wrong...even if they were right he still told them they were wrong and gave his own answers to questions. When I emailed him I got no response. I would not recommend his class.
His bark is bigger than his bite. He just wants you to step up your game and take the art of speech writing and speech delivery serious. This is an academic environment and he want to prepare his students the working world. Do not think that you will not have to work hard you will but at the end you will see your own growth.
I've never heard a teacher boast about themselves more than i've heard him! It's so annoying. For first week of class, I thought i was going to love him, but NO! he rants on and on about himself and then makes up half of the things he lectures on. He claims none of his COMM colleagues know what they're talking about. WAKEUP CALL, YOUR HORRIBLE ONE!
He's a very good teacher. He is very passionate and really does want his students to learn and grow as speakers. I struggled with the outlines and rigidness of the speeches, but I did learn a lot. He's a personable, friendly and helpful guy and most of it is up to you--so step up and prepare to learn and to grow. PS: Not an "easy" class.
Dnt get me wrong he was a good teacher bt his way of teaching suck he would give u lecture n a study guide bt its nt really a study guide believe me if ur ready to give ur life away for a class take it if not dnt he expects thing his or ur wrong opinion doesnt exist in his class
A full fledged creep! I'm suprised no one has turned him in for sexual harrassment! He thinks he is some kind of god and able to say or do whatever he pleases in the classroom. Completely innapropriate language, jestures and hand placement. Plus, he makes this class extrememly more difficult than it needs to be. It's Comm101 DUDE! I DO NOT RECOMMEN
Prof. Graves was one of the worst teachers I've ever had. He's very rude. I'm a physically disabled person and he was not understanding or accommodating of my needs at all. He made me and others uncomfortable to ask questions. He also tends to talk down to others and over elaborate on things.
He is a great teacher, he is a little hard but if you put your part of the work it will be well worth it. You will learn how to deliver a good speech. Highly recommended!!!
He expects you to read the book but does not discuss any portion of it during class (although the tests are very specific from the textbook). The majority of class is him babbling and he is condescending towards others. Speeches are extremely subjective, e.g. you should take 3 steps instead of 2, more hand gestures, less, etc. I wouldn't recommend.
He is serious about his job and I am an adult so he is just like anyone you work for in the real world. He grades hard and expects you to work. If you are going into communications he is the teacher you should take. He is hard. Take the challenge.
I like his teaching, I learned a lot from him. His teaching of communications (the way you should deliver it and such) is very detailed and he provides you with good information. What I can't tolerate in this professor is his attitude. He bashes his own colleagues saying that their way of teaching and grading are "wrong."
He acts like if this was the only class you have to take, he wants you to make the class your number one priority. Take this class with him if it's your only class for the semester, if not chose a different professor.
Not easy. He doesn't make it fun. Very rude; Makes you know that you are inferior to him. I felt he was very inappropriate in his humor. Got an A due to kissing his ass, but unfortunately this is how i felt about him the entire time.
I hate school, yet I looked forward to this class. It is a hard class but if you are willing to put in the time and get your work done on time you shouldn't have any problems. He is more than willing to help you. (if you go see him in his office) overall he is a great teacher
He is a good professor, however he does have quite a vocabulary. It might just be me, but i lose a lot of respect for professors when every other word out of their mouth is some kind of cuss word. Gets annoying after a while. But he helps you understand the subject. He even helped me get out of my fear of stage fright.
He's a great professor, just wants you to do better for yourself , I wouldn't recommend taking his class if you don't believe you can do it, many drop in his class during the semester , I took his 8 week course so I had alot of pressure trying to do my best even though we used the book his notes are better to study too.
Not all lecture is in exam, make sure u learn the key terms, read the summary and have a basic understanding and memory of the subtitles in the book, and you would do good in the exams. Rehears your speech in advance. Don't procrastinate in the group project. This could make the difference between passing and failing. He is dynamic and overall good
Through my experience so far with him, he has been very unhelpful to me. Don't even try to ask him why he puts on your paper what he does; he won't give you a straight answer. Also, asking for help has been a bit of a hassle, as he didn't really answer my questions when I felt as though I most needed clarification. Just be wary about his classes.
Only 1 speech and another group speech. Test are mostly made up of what was in the readings. Make sure to read prior to going to class. He's very straight forward.
He's a great guy took his 8wk course and pass , he's not a hard teacher but he's also not easy just practice on your speech take notes of everything and u should pass
Professor Graves is clear, has a sense of humor, easy readings; however, he takes a long time to grade work. By the end of the last week I realized where I was standing as for my grade. He takes a long time to grade because he analyzes the work in great detail. That part of the class was annoying. However he dropped our lowest test score.
Great Professor! get ready to work for a good grade. He tries to get you ready for university level learning. He will work with you, and help answer any questions. Use his office hours wisely. I took papers to his class to ask him to look over them before turning them in. Friendly and understanding. I am trying to squeeze in another class with him
Honestly didn't really care for this class too much but he is really good at what he does. He wants you to be prepared to high level teachers, and he wants you to do well. I didn't expect to have to read the book often but you will need it to pass both test cause they are straight out of the book. He is really nice and the class is not hard
Really professional & passionate! He's serious but can be funny & really cares about the success of his students. His class helped me decide to be a comm major & I'd take him again. He expects you show, listen up, do the reading, & try your best but you'll really learn from him.
Mr. T's class took up a lot of my time during his 8 week course he kept us the whole 3 hrs twice a week. He really makes you work for your grade. He's deff harder than the other comm classes at avc but he's a really good teacher. The 2 tests are straight out of the book but pretty easy. Don't leave anything out on your speeches or outlines.
Absolutely wonderful, takes the time to help students when you ASK for it. He is test heavy because you could do well on everything else and bomb a test and it will lower your grade tremendously. Takes a while to grade things. You will need the book or you won't pass. he loves the subject so he comes in very happy and ready to teach.
Mr. G is great! He's a genuine guy and really cares about his students success in class and beyond. He's a no nonsense teacher and will be completely honest with you! That's a great quality for anybody. He grades speeches and outlines very tough. You have to know you're stuff well and not procrastinate. Tests are straight out of the book. Take him!
Remarkable Professor. Great guy too. Tough grader for speeches but he is fair. Tests are straight out of the book. There is a group project and presentation. Social or unsocial person, it is a fun project nonetheless. :)
Really tough grader. I would not take him again. Very inappropriate.
Mr. T was a refreshing professor to take. I only took him for eight weeks but he made me work for my B. Hes good at his job and he gives you all the tools you need to succeed. Hes a fair grader and engaging in his lectures; take all notes you can during his lectures as his speeches and tests require half lecture, half reading.
If you want to fail, take him. He's a lazy teacher that uses past syllabus' thats not even clear, his lectures are poor and doesn't have nothing to do with the exams, he's a cool teacher but you will leave the class with 0 knowledge and a bad grade! I failed all my exams and I'm a 4.0 student doesn't make any sense I work hard but he's a bad teach!
Graves was an awesome professor. Hes as supportive as it gets and he lets you know exactly what he wants and how to correct any issues in speeches or otherwise. His lectures are very engaging and note heavy as the exams take most of its source from lectures. Only took him for 8 weeks but he made a solid impression!
Pretty interesting dude, but he knows his stuff. I really enjoyed his class and it helped to lessen my anxiety about public speaking. Just pay attention, read the chapters, and do your research for your speeches and you'll do absolutely fine
3 speeches, midterm, and final. Most extra professor I've had so far at avc. Expects way too much out of everyone. Doesnt care if you have any other stuff to take care of. He wants his class to be #1 priority. Always talks about how he's a great prof. Will take points off on speeches for dumb stuff. Was sometimes funny.
Mr. Thomas was accessible after class and on time. He prepares you for the speeches and he does expect you to read. I'm a good student and have good grades, i thought reading the material wasn't always necessary but nope. I got a C. It really is just read and try to comprehend. He is respectable, answers emails, and makes you earn your grade.
Mr. T is one of those professor's that will push you to your full potential. If you want that "Easy A". When choosing a speech topic, make sure you care about the topic enough to get that A (or at least aim for a B). Grades fair. Tests are on Canvas, but I suggest you study with given limited time. Make sure to practice, don't wing it. Good luck!
Pros. He straight forward and doesn't sugar coat which is amazing. He understands that thing do happen, but expects proof.(ex. hosp. visit) Con. His grading is unfair. If he feels you can do better work, he grades you harder VS if he doesn't expect greatness from you, he is easy on you. They was a student who put little effort and passed. Shocked
He made me feel comfortable with presenting. He grades fair and will tell you what to change in your speech so you can improve. The tests arent hard as long as you take notes and pay attention. Overall a great class. I highly recommend you take him!
hard grader. treats students like they know nothing. he is stubborn and it's his way or an f.
Honestly a really solid teacher. Students often have comfortable and friendly conversations with him. Very understanding and helpful when you have a question. Really patient when answering questions and doesn't judge you. Has clear criteria and very fair when grading. He's honest and straightforward about things. Makes class comfortable and fun.
He is nice to talk to sometimes but for the most part he gets really impatient and is rude to students. He was not nice with the distance learning and would get irritated easily. He makes the tests way harder than they need to be. I could say a lot more about him but do not have enough characters left. He is a piece of work do not take him!
At first, he seems to be a nice teacher but then he changes. He is can be rude to students and is very sarcastic and upfront with students a little too upfront. He is a tough grader and seems to want to help but sometimes he hurts more than helps. It is also hard to understand what he wants from students.
Pretty rude and sarcastic with students. Expects students to be able to drop everything for the class and wants to be #1 priority. A real piece of work, difficult to reason with. I wouldn't recommend.
I had to do a speech that lasted 8 mins... but this class was in between easy and hard. I was going to drop but thank goodness I didnt. It got easier.
Professor Graves is exceptional at what he does. If you do take him plan to work and plan to push yourself. His grading criteria isn't always specifically clear but if you ask for clarification, you will get it. My only down fall in his class is the exams. They are monitored by Procterio to avoid cheating and he dosent give much time on them.
Nice guy. A hot head when students don't get things right away. Uhh. honestly unclear and maybe it's just me but he was never positive. Always pointed out everything wrong and never even said things like you can improve on this but said that part was terrible. that's being negative and not constructive criticism
A rude, blunt professor that expects you to perfect his way of giving a speech. He knows best and boasts about his old prowess in the sales business, one time for the majority of a lecture. I got an immediate red flag when he requires you to install a proctoring extension on your browser, meaning he has little care about your privacy as well.
He was disrespectful cursing in his lectures that wasnt necessary I didnt feel comfortable with listening to his lectures and Conversations on zoom because he was out of order. Ive felt uncomfortable with doing the homework that was assigned because he didnt give me much time and i was rushed and not much info about it.. I REGRET TAKING IT..
Mr. graves is the WORST teacher Ive ever had. He lectures for several hours and never refers back to the textbook. Meanwhile on tests theres questions that he has never discussed that refers back to the textbook. He is a tough grader and gave myself a low grade because I didnt use the same letters in the outline as home. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS
He is a tough grader. Personally I didn't like how he wouldn't answer questions clearly. Speeches were hard for me.
Gave very vague instructions with an extremely harsh grading system. Very demanding and very little understanding. Will not see eye to eye to student issues and maintains a very cold demeanor that created a very uncomfortable setting. Generally rude to students who have trouble understanding and difficult to work with.
Professor Graves is funny yet serious at the same time, he has a unique sense of humor and is personable. He has high expectations in the classroom but is willing to help with whatever you need. All of the work is straight forward and he explains everything you need to know in his lectures. I would definitely take his class again!
All I have to say is that I really regret taking his class and that someone should tell him wife jokes aren't funny.
Professor Graves is good at what he does as far as speaking goes. It shoes he was a competitive speaker. He does genuinely want people to be better speakers. That being said, to me he isn't a great a teacher. His grading is extremely strict for assignments with vague descriptions. Don't expect A's and be ready to be tested on things not in lecture.
Professor is rude and yells a lot.
Graves is a funny guy he has a good sense of humor an issue with him is sometimes his lectures are hard to understand because he doesn't explain things well. I highly recommend making friends in his class I got a good grade mainly because I studied with them and prepare to be uncomfortable in speeches but he understands the difficulty
Professor Graves jokes a lot and tries to make the material interesting. His speeches were surprisingly hard to do. He expects you to be able to recite quotes and hold up your notecards in a weird way.
next!
Professor Graves was okay. I wouldn't take his class again and overall he's a tough grader. His class is hard to understand and most of the time I didn't even know what was going on. If you're a "Cs get degrees student" like me, I wouldn't recommend his class, find someone much easier, you'll have to work hard for your grade.
Tom is a great teacher all around, but difficult. His class consisted of three speeches, a 1 minute intro, a 7 minute informational, and an 8 minute persuasive. These speeches are difficult, but if you put in the work and effort he will know and give you a good grade. This is a class where you very much reap what you sow. Tom is friendly and fun.
Professor Graves gives assignments that are difficult to understand and vague. He gets frustrated if you don't understand the material or are confused about an assignment and assumes it's because you weren't paying attention to his instructions/ lecture. When he does further explain something oftentimes what he says is contradictory.
Professor Graves is a no-nonsense teacher and will make you work for your grade, but his speeches are very much doable if you listen and follow his directions. His lectures were interesting, he's a funny guy and even though he can seem intimidating he is perfectly willing to answer questions during class. Remember to practice and be prepared!
Tom forgets to discuss assignments & doesn't give specific due dates not even after being asked in an email. He isn't tech-savvy so if you ask questions about assignments then expect that he will take offense. Best advice:fly under the radar, don't ask questions & get ready for his rath of anger if you do decide to ask him questions. Good luck!
He's very good at getting information across, but also very much wants you to read the textbook. He's very traditional when it comes to grading speeches, but otherwise he's pretty chill. You get to choose topics for your speeches so it makes it more exciting to actually do the work. He's experienced and is good and giving advice based on himself.
Grades unfairly, critics every micro thing when it comes to presenting, so many people had anxiety. If you don't use gestures or take the steps during your transition at the right time, he takes off points after points. He does not care about mental health with the harsh negative comments he gives back. This is supposed to be an introductory class
Consider avoiding his class if you experience anxiety related to public speaking. Although he acknowledges that public speaking is a common fear, he provides harsh feedback and takes a long time to give feedback before the next speech.
Prof. Graves is a serious professor; he expects and demands the best from (and for) his students. This is definitely not a class you skate through, but if you put in the work you will succeed easily. There is a decent amount of work, but this is college, that's to be expected. He is willing to answer questions and go over things as much as you need
Talks about how his wife and daughter are rude to
Tells class that his wife and daughter are rude to him like it's a therapy session in class. Says daughter went to cal state and can't get jobs to entire class because it's competitive out there. Clearly doesn't like teaching. Purposely tries to lower grade like he is somehow eliminating future job competition for his daughter. Absolutely avoid…
I dropped this class for so many reasons. In each class, he constantly belittled people who didn't answer him, he gave no instructions on how to complete large assignments until the night before they were due, he later touched my friend's legs because she wasn't standing correctly, and he made fun of his adopted daughter, who had schizophrenia.
One of my fav teachers! Super nice and funny. Speeches are super easy as long as you DO THE WORK!!! I believe he changed his teaching style these past 2 semesters and it's honestly so good. Lots of good critiques. All I can say is don't pick hard topics to speak on and actually take time to practice! He gives you the textbook free as well!
I think Mr. Graves is a good professor. Although he blames our generation for not knowing anything about communicating with one another which I disagree with, he is good at his lessons. I took this class because I had to, I didn't want to, but he made it entertaining.
I took this class for credit, but it worsened my anxiety. The instructor often blames younger generations for poor communication. Fidgeting or moving during speeches drops your grade, and his harsh feedback isn't for sensitive students. Exams are tough, but reading his assigned book is essential. He frequently talks about his wife and daughter.
This biology teacher is disorganized, unapproachable, and fails to engage the class. Concepts are rushed, questions are dismissed, and feedback is useless. If you want to learn biology, look elsewhere.
Ironically, this communications teacher can't communicate. The lectures are dull, feedback is vague, and the class feels like a waste of time. Avoid if you value your education.
I have apprehensions about his conduct during class; Belittling of students for non-academic matters, bringing of his personal life into the classroom, cursing during lecture and boasting of non-scholarly achievement in order to justify his behavior. Public speaking is an art, but I suspect he is deliberately overcomplicating it to seem academic.
You will learn 3 speeches, write 2 papers and read an entire textbook in 5 weeks for a 101 class.
Graves can be tough, but stay engaged and you'll learn a lot. The speeches are doable with practice. Unstuck AI was super helpful for prep when I struggled with the material. Give it a try!
Graves made it very clear for what he was looking for when grading speeches and would give constructive feedback if you wanted.
ABSOLUTELY do not take this man. He is foul.I know a lot of these comments may come off as "Younger Gen anxiety issues or disorders. DO NOT BE FOOLED. I have heard the anger comes from people not only being younger than me but also older than me. Weird towards female students. (Can't type it all).Insensitive and talks about his wife and kid(BADLY)
If you aren't religious, pick one and start praying before you take him. He's so rude and he talks a lot about his Latina wife and lowkey speaks poorly of his daughter. His “constructive criticism” is actually just him being condescending and I wish he had gotten fired. Plus side: textbook is free so at least there's that i guess.
As a student with horrible anxiety (possibly an anxiety disorder), I would have panic attacks even thinking about this class. His class was never welcoming, and I could not get through the first speech. If you are trying to find a good professor for COMM101, NEVER choose him. I was okay with taking the W instead of just getting through it.
Toughest grader I ever had
WAS NOT VERY STUDENT HELPFUL, GRADING WAS CRITICAL, TOOK THINGS PERSONAL AND MADE CLASS SIMPLY UNENJOYABLE
Watch out!! This guy's life is trashed apparently from the stories he tells in class and he wants to trash yours too. For a low price of enrollment you can earn a waste of time and a low grade courtesy of tommy Tom Toms
You couldn't pay me to take this class again. If wasting time is an art then Tom is a master. Seriously it's amazing how he has gotten away with this foolery for years. I am not confident in Tom's abilities to teach but he would make an excellent janitor. Not sure if AVC is hiring for a janitor but I would like to suggest Tom #Tom for janitor 2026
At first this course felt like I was back in high school because of how he talks to students but he takes this class super serious. And because of this I am confident to publicly speak. You have to take it serious too if you want to get a good grade. Understand how to write speech, memorize them, follow all the queues and you'll do fine.
I'm going to be honest, do NOT take this professor if you struggle talking in front of people. I don't have an issue with it, but my classmates who did felt very intimidated by him. As for me, I actually found his class helpful! He's stern in grading and knows what he wants, but the speeches are easy if you pay attention to what it is he wants.
Mocks his students; he affectionately called our class "chickens**ts." Causes problems that are his fault, then throws a tantrum and punishes his students for his mistakes. Has touched people's legs without consent or warning under the guise of the student "moving too much during the speech." He is a lawsuit waiting to happen.
I would NOT recommend this professor! He doesn't like answering his emails when help is truly needed in his own words he said, "Don't email me I don't want to read that". I think that says enough but when you ask for help on a speech, he has you go up and practice and doesn't give you any feedback to help you improve. Don't waste your time here.
if you're not a try hard then dont take the class. you'll be doing so much unnecessary work for a class that no one wants to take, he makes speeches much more complicated than they need to be, save yourself the headache and take someone else. i wish i did. i will never take his class again.
As someone who isn't afraid of public speaking, he made me terrified to speak in public. Every day in his class, I waited for him to say something rude or just straight-up mean. It was even being too "sensitive", he is just a very rude professor. Try and take a different professor if possible.
Mr.Graves is very blunt and disrespectful sometimes. He has a lot of work and sometimes will switch things up last minute,he's done it in my class atleast 2 times. He grades things weirdly and slowly.
