Dr. Haner is a fun and easy prof! very laid back, too.
He is a great teacher. He explains things in terms we understand. The class is hard but he makes it as simple as possible. If possible try to get him for any classes.
This guy is an awesome teacher!!!
He is a great lab teacher. Very clear and helps you out if you need it.
He has as much knowlege of biology 161 as i do and i'm a 19 year old freshman. If you ask him a question that the book doesn't answer, he just says i don't know. I could teach this class just as good as he does.
Loved the class (Zoology)! Great teacher. It was a fun class and very interesting. I would definately take another class from him.
i wish i could have been in the class with those people that say haner could lecture. in lecture it seemed as if he was speaking another language! lab with him was cool but lecture was not. he had no study guide for you to study from, all he did was talk.
lab is fun, he is laid back - nice guy
This lecture class is soo long and boring and his attendance policy is horrible.I showed up 3 minutes late for class & he wouldn't let me sign in!If you miss 10% of classes you are not eligable for E.C., which stinks b/c there is only 4 Tests and not othe
very hard to understand. he makes bio almost impossible. only 4 tests and nothing to study from but notes
very hard to study for tests. You have a book but never use it.
I thought that he was an Excellent teacher. He gave Extra Credit and you didn't have to open the book. Everything on the tests came right from his notes. If you take good notes and study them you'll do fine.
boring teacher. tests manically hard!
I like how Haner teaches. He's pretty laid back and fun. His BIO 115 class was the best. If you study and do your work, you'll do great. If you're lazy... you'll probably complain about his teaching.
Awesome lab teacher...he's got a sense of humor and he's a great teacher.
This guy is really good. He's young...and he knows what hes talking about and isin't afraid to share any info with you! He offers E.C. which is totally helpful! If you go to class and take good notes...you'll do fine!
His lab is really easy and fun. But the lecture is completely different... very tough.
He's funny and it's a fun class to be in
Dr H. is awesome! lab was a blast! learned a ton! this guy knows his stuff! he is so motivating, and wants his students to succeed! Zoology rocks!
Boring, really boring, very boring, I slept with half of the class!! Not like that you ****. I'm gonna hire this guy to come lecture in my room to put me to sleep at night.
He was awesome!! Don't even by the book until 146! His tests are DIRECTLY from the notes.
I found him as a good teacher and very helpful. He presented the material very good but it is just a hard class. If you study the notes and ask questions you will do fine. He offers extra credit to help bring up scores. I don't recommed this class for the summer!
Dr. h rocks! I was in a car accident and missed a week of school, and he was so helpful and so nice and I still passed the class with a B! And it's was A&P!!!
this was my first bio class in college..it was pretty difficult, but he was an excellent teacher. he's very helpful if you need it and keeps your attention well. great class, great teacher!
This class was intimidating in the beginning because I've not been in class in over 20 years, but Dr. Haner is probably the best teacher I've ever had. He makes it clear from the start what your objectives will be and what he expects from his students. He's friendly, helpful, and teaches in a manner to where you understand the material--not just memorize a bunch of terminology. He always gives students an opportunity to ask questions before moving on. If you take good notes, you'll do great!
great teacher, explains the information in a way that is easy to understand, no suprises on exams
Dr Haner is probably the best you could hope to get for A&P! I took it over the summer and found it to be surprisingly easy. The material is tough, don't get me wrong, but he knows how to get to the heart of it and make it easy to grasp.
Ok, Dr Haner was very helpful in every aspect. Now, this is not an easy class. I actually slacked in the beginning and found myself failing the tests so if you don't take this class seriously you won't pass. I had to step up my game. But Haner was very helpful, I would recommend him for A & P to anyone, he's awesome!! Very Helpful!!
Dr. Haner is an excellent teacher. I was told that Bio 145 which is A&P is the one of the hardest courses you can take. Apparently they didn't have Dr. Haner to make it more simple for them. It is very important to pay attention in class, take notes and listen a tape recorder wouldn't be a bad idea. He gives No study guides....BUMMER!
He is an awesome teacher!!! He explains everything and gives 45 E.C points for the semester!! I also had him for lab and he is very fair!! I would take him again. I was scared to take this class and he made it interesting, and easy. Definatly prepares you for 146 if you pay attention!!GOOD TEACHER
He just may be one of the best teachers ICC has to offer...he is very interested in what the students success. He is one of the most approachable teachers I've had at ICC. Although the material is hard he does his best to put it in terms that everyone can understand. I took Malcomn my first time around and I can tell you he's 200% better
Explains things well & in different ways for hard concepts. Goes out of his way to help. However, if you slack off your grade will show it. Pay attention, do the EC, and study a little and it'll go great.
Dr. Haner is really a great teacher! I wish he were teaching 146 as well. He is very clear in his lectures, and if you take good notes and listen, you will do fine on the tests. He is also very helpful and understanding when life situations come up and will work with you so you can get the most you can out of class. I reccomend him for 145!
I enjoyed this class. He is an awesome teacher. He is a real teacher. He really wants you to "get it" not just pass the class. I will look for him for future classes and definately recommend him for this one.
Material is very well explained in lecture. Uses overhead to help you understand. Make sure to study all his notes because his tests are based on them.
Dr. Haner is an amazing teacher. He describes the physiology in a way you can understand it and doesn't go too in depth about the details as much as other teachers. I felt this way gave me a much better understanding of the processes we learn. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who has to take this class! I wish he taught 146!
Great guy. Takes the time to explain everything and has a sense of humor too!! In Biology 145 he is ur best shot!
Very good teacher, explains things very well. If you are going to take this class, take him. Make sure to take good notes and study them! I've used the book only to clarify some things, but the notes are what you need to know.
Dr. H was a great instructor. This is the 2nd time I have taken 145. I tried this class with a different instructor and that instructor was very very very hard. When Dr.H dictates notes take them, he will not give you anything that is not on the test. So take notes, attend classes, ask questions, and don't be afraid of having alittle fun.
Dr. Haner is an awesome guy. He doesn't tell you EXACTLY what you need to know for tests, but if you ask questions he'll tell you. Also, he sometimes cancels quizzes and labs just to be nice. Laugh at his jokes! He likes that.
"GREAT TEACHER!" Make sure u take notes everything from his test are in his notes!!!!
Dr. Haner is great! He is fair, consisent and wants you to do well. You have to take notes because he tests from them. No surprises on the test, what he says is what is on there. He is funny, but he wants respect in class. Take him definately.
Good teacher, dry sense of humor, funny. For lecture he was clear, but lab he didn't give clear instructions.
Notes are mandatory. Tests come from notes, but he doesn't always pick the obvious questions. Lots of info...
Note handouts are exactly what is on the test. Book was never used. Although, lab book was. Lots of information...try and stay awake :) lol
I was scared to take this class but Haner is a great teacher. He is a no-nonsense teacher that teaches all of the students in his class. He uses various methods of questions during exams- t/f, short answer, mult choice, diagrams, and essay.
Dr. Haner was one of the best teachers that I have had, 145 is a hard class, but if you pay attention and review his power points, you will do great in his class, all of his test come from his notes!I got an A!
Several students in this class asked him for help after class hours and he was not very helpful to students which I felt was not nice.
He rocks!
Good teacher. Take good notes! took this as a summer class, alot of material covered in a short time..take time to study..wouldnt recommend taking this class while working 40+hrs a wk.
Easily one of the best teachers at icc, his stories are a welcome break from lectures and laughing at his jokes really is a plus. Also he asks questions alot so be sure to answer the. Get to know him and he will be WAY more helpul....DONT TEXT
Dr. Haner was a wonderful teacher but we never used the book. You have to be a good note taker otherwise you won't suceed in his class. Wish he taught 146
OK as a person but as a teacher I don?t feel he was a helpful as he should be. If you take him be prepared to take notes he does not give any!!!! Felt like an idiot when it came to asking him questions. Was an extremely hard class to follow since I don?t feel he is very hands on he is more hands off. I will not recommend him to anyone. Was advi
He was very helpful in class. You have to study and attend class because it is not an easy class but he helped to make it a little easier. He also offers extra credit which helps you out too.
He is great:)
Cool guy. Zoology is pretty interesting as is, but he certainly made it better. The only downside to this course is the students in it. I'm assuming most of the cretins in my class thought Zoology to include multiple field trips and safaris. As a teacher and class, I would recommend Dr. Haner's Zoology to get your science out of the way with.
I loved Dr. Haner. I actually had to drop his class this summer because I got sick not because of him though! He is a wonderful teacher and cool as hell!! Pay attention easy A!
Loved Dr.Haner! Made a hard class a little easier. Very willing to help if any students didn't understand. I really wish that he taught 146!!! I would recommend his class to anyone, good teacher and good person!
Great teacher!!! Very willing to help you! Guided notes is almost exactly whats on the tests. There are 5 exams throughout the semester and a cumulative final with questions from the exams. Exams are fairly easy if you study your notes! Highly recommend!
he is an amzing teacher, he will go above and beyond to make sure you understand. Communicates well and is hott to top it off!! seriously, he is the best A and P teacher you can get.
Haner uses power points for lecture. 4units..He hands out power point w/note lines for each unit. Lab pre and post quizzes are on blackboard. 1 written paper(not hard). Final Exam is NOT cumulative!
Haner is a really nice guy. The class content was fairly easy. As long as you took notes and did the labs and extra credit you can do well in the class. I really enjoyed that class.
Mr. Haner is an excellent teacher. Hated science before I took his class. Just pay attention, take notes and study. He gives you a good idea whats going to be on the tests. What he says is going to be on the tests are, no tricks. good sense of humor also.
If you have to take A&P, wait until the summer and take it with Haner. He is worth the wait! Yes, you need to attend class, YES you need to take really, really good notes- BUT study them and you will do fine. He will give a "Wink & a Gun" to let you know specifics for the exam- AWESOME! He's pretty funny and makes a summer class bearable!
A great lecturer. Took a little while to get used to his fairly straightforward lectures after the increasingly complex BIO courses. Extremely funny. Four words to your success in his course: "Wink and the Gun."
We were one of the first Bio 114 classes he taught. I personally found Haner to be enjoyable as a teacher, as well as entertaining. He was incredibly helpful, can occasionally get sidetracked, but he brings everything back full circle. Mostly online assignments, tests are easy as long as you take notes (which are all powerpoint). HANER WAS AWESOME!
One of my favorite teachers. Very nice; approachable; great sense of humor which is sometimes used on test questions. Understood pretty much everything taught; uses PowerPoint slides with pictures. <--VERY HELPFUL. It's okay if he doesn't let you sign in if you're late..doesn't even really look at it. Great prof overall and good looking.
Professor gives a handout for lecture so it's easy to follow. You HAVE to study for the tests though, he will put a question on about something he only mentioned once. Lab is extremely boring but you can't miss many labs. Very strict on attendance so show up and show up ON TIME!!
I ended up enjoying the class. I am not fond of science classes, but he made the summer class go smoothly. I had to study...sometimes really hard, but I made it through. It's up to the student whether he/she wants to pass or fail.
Excellent instructor - tough class. There is lot of material and you have to study for the exams. Take notes, study for the labs and tests, and you will be fine. First half of the class moves much faster and covers more material than the last half so don't give up if you're doing okay at mid term.
Very cool teacher! Explains everything thoroughly and will help when needed! Just pay attention and take notes and his tests are easy. During the labs he's helpful, clear, and a real jokester!
This is a hard class, he doesn't give any instruction on what to study really... only 4 tests, no quiz or hw grades. However, on the notes printout he gives prior to teaching that chapter, there are key objectives. Turn those into questions and keep them out during the lecture to write the answers down. Thats the whole test. The required lab sucks.
The class is definitely not easy as a piece of cake. But if you really listen carefully in the class and take notes and read the book, it won't be too hard to get B. Professor Haner is very knowledgeable and helpful. Don't be afraid to ask if you have questions!
He's a good guy, just not a great teacher. He definitely knows what he's talking about- PhD in Zoology and Mammal ecology and it really shows, he's passionate about it. Lab isn't strict but you cannot leave early or you'll miss the quiz at the end and not get credit. Only 4 tests all semester. Tests are hard even if you study. Very abstract info.
He's a little boring in class, but he has all his info available online and goes straight from the book. Knows what he's doing and makes fun lame jokes.
Had Haner for an academic adviser. ICC's advisers are terrible, especially with what will transfer. Had one other adviser who misguided me, but he straightened it out. But when I had to request stuff from the heads of the department, he wouldn't stand by what he told me and left me high and dry. Make him put stuff in writing next time!
Haner is a very funny guy in his own weird, dry way. Very knowledgeable and passionate. Always expect a quiz at the end of lab, that's his way of making sure you don't rush through the lab to leave early. You have to stay the whole time. You'll need to be an expert note taker to keep up with him in lecture. Probably best you learn short hand!
He expects PUNCTUAL attendance, yet he has a tendency to be late himself, and he doesn't seem to care when class actually ENDS. He kept us five at least 5 minutes late almost every day. (The next professor was always poking his head in waiting to get in the door.) Also, be ready to write down every single word he utters in class. testsridiculous
Currently taking a summer class with Haner, and as long as you study, show up, and ask questions, it's a passable class. He's an interesting man and has definitely changed the way of how I look at the world around me. Don't think about the grade of the class, just be there to learn and enjoy, and you'll get a good grade.
He repeats himself a lot. I found it hard to pay attention but if you read from the book and take notes from it you'll pass the tests. Don't have your phone out and don't ever miss lecture or lab. Expect to be there for all of lab too as he makes you stay the whole time for the quiz at the end.
Mr Haner is how all teachers should be. I have him for a 8am class and you need to show up to every class and also need to show up on time. you have to sign an attendance sheet every time you come in and if you miss too much you can not participate in the extra credit (which is super easy). He is helpful, clear, and not super boring.
Haner outside of class is a cool guy. Haner inside of class good luck. Makes no sense when he talks, babbles about who knows what. I will admit he is very funny, but when it comes to biology and preparing you for the test, you're on your own. Make your own study guides and write down EVERYTHING he says. Introductory biology should not be this hard.
Haner is passionate about what he teaches. He is also funny (if you like science puns.) He repeats himself, which I appreciate. Don't have your phone out. He will call you out if he sees it. & I understand why he does it. Zoology isn't a blowoff class. Take notes, and really engage yourself in the lectures/labs. Also, do the extra credit.
Bio 110 shouldn't be this difficult, class goes over every lecture, lectures are long and boring, and he talks about random stuff all the time, he's a good guy but very tough for lecture, write down everything he says, it will be on the test worded completly different, u sign in on a sheet, if u are a couple minutes late u can't sign in. Don't take
Pretty good guy. He's understanding and helpful. I sleep through almost every class yet he still seems to like me and I'm receiving an A currently. Don't think that this will be an easy class though. I study for everything, I'm already interested in Biology, and I had a great high school biology teacher. It's college level easy but ICC level hard.
Awesome professor! The tests are hard but pay attention to all the lectures and you will do fine! He goes off the objectives for tests and I highly recommend you make note cards. Used book a little. Gives a lot of extra credit!! I would definitely take him again :) oh and he also had some pretty cheesy jokes, awesome professor!
Took Zoology with Haner and wow I tried to stay awake every lecture but that just wasn't possible. He repeats himself multiple times which can be annoying. His labs go the whole time so don't plan to get out early. He was rather helpful too. Don't have your phone out. He will make you look like a fool.
Show up, take notes, do the extra credit. Dr. Haner is a knowledgeable and funny guy. His tests are fair but not easy. Don't take this class expecting it to be a breezy intro to animals, but it's rewarding and interesting if you take it seriously and don't blow it off. Lab goes the full time but it's fun. Duh, don't have your phone out. It's rude.
Dr. Haner will talk the entire class, although if you pay attention, take notes (print the lecture PowerPoints!!), and ask questions where you dont understand, you will do great in the class! (P.S. he likes fishing so if you ever need a conversation starter there you go!) Good luck!
He is a really NICE guy hut he is SO BORING. You have to attend lecture to be eligible for extra credit, and his lectures are the worst. He will talk ab one topic for the whole hour (maybe 3 slides) and then asks random lab questions on the exam. Better than JFLEX tho.. Also hes a gag! Easy A if you can stand boring lectures. :)
He was a decent teacher, but some material on the tests were not really covered in lectures. He is quite a slow teacher, in comparison to the other ones. However, he is a really nice guy, who makes so really bad jokes. DO NOT USE YOUR PHONE IN CLASS, he will call you out in front of the whole class.
I hate bio, but Haner made it bearable. His lecture would consist of him talking for an hour straight while answering questions along the way. As long as you took notes you would be fine. The homework was essentially guess until you get a certain number of questions right. The lab stuff was pretty interesting, but the homework was actually graded
Professor Haner is an extremely relaxed professor and is passionate about the topic. His class is fairly challenging, but no more challenging than any other biology class. If you actually study a few hours a week, there's no reason you won't do well.
Dr. Haner is a really great professor although he does get off topic quite a bit. His class goes a bit slower than the other ones but he makes sure his students understand the material before moving on. His powerpoints are clear and easy to understand. Do not use your phone in class, EVER. He will definitely call you out.
I took BIO110 online and it was great! Clear expectations of assignments and due dates. Dr. Haner was always helpful and responsive to emails. There are tests every 3 chapters. Each chapter has homework, lab, and a quiz. I would recommend Dr. Haner and I would definitely recommend you take it online, it was easy and you can move at your own pace!
Honestly didn't seem like a great professor. He rarely taught anything outside of the powerpoint. He did not cover everything in lecture and expected us to know the chapter front and back to succeed in the quizzes and tests. This class was really tough, a lot tougher than all of my classes at ICC.
Super nice guy, but I honestly never listened during his lectures. He tends to ramble on about multiple topics while not changing the slide. It made it very difficult to learn from his lectures and I just did the notes online instead. Honestly, the concepts are basic and you can easily teach yourself the material but it takes a lot of time.
He is really nice and cares about his students. However, he tends to ramble about things that don't matter much because they won't be on the exam. The lectures were tiresome, but if I absolutely had to I would take a class with him again just for his nice personality.
He tends to get off track easily during class and he made us switch from taking our own notes to printing out slides for us which made it feel less obligatory to pay attention. He goes through it pretty fast without in depth explanations as well. When we did labs it was often a self-guided style and it was SO hard to actually understand.
I thought that he was funny and made the lessons interesting. He was accessible outside of class and really easy to work with. I had him for both lecture and lab for Bio 110, and in this lectures, attendance was not mandatory, but recommended. The lectures did get long and boring at times, but he tries his best to make a few jokes here and there.
Had him for BIO110-LAB. He is a very good lab professor! The class did feel redundant a lot of the time and made easy concepts kinda hard but it wasn't his fault.
He loves what he teaches and is also willing to explain concepts that are hard to understand. He gives lots of extra credit and wants everyone to do well. His tests are not overly difficult, but he will pull questions from the lab- so study the lab material! I love this Professor so much and will miss him!
I enjoyed having him, he is always more than willing to answer any questions! His class involved being attentive and participating, but I learned from it and it was not bad.
This guy was SO boring. His classes are just white boring slides that he reads off of at a very slow pace and he doesn't seem to make any effort to become more interesting. He is very monotone and it's a challenge to stay awake in his class.
He is THE BEST Bio professor at ICC. LOTS OF EXTRA CREDIT & gives curves on exam grades if you don't do well. He is very accessible, his lectures are amazing. He makes complicated topics simplified and draws everything out. Has study guides but I recommend going over the whole chapter and labs. Took him for bio 161, best decision ever.
The professor tries to make the lectures engaging, though they can get long at times. Using Unstuck ai and the free textbook helped me stay on top of the material.
I really like Professor Haner, great guy and super chill. He's a great guy once you get to know him. He runs SAFE at ICC which is an environmental group which is a great group of people to be around if you're looking for something to do.
Hes a good teacher. The lectures are long and boring but its biology so that's typical. Had him for lecture as well and he's such a nice guy and easy to get along with.
Professor Haner was absolutely amazing. The information taught didn't come very easily to me, but he made the class fun and engaging. Be ready for some difficult exams but insanely interesting lectures, materials, and labs. If you have to take a BIO course, I definitely recommend him.
