To the students who do not like Heinrich "because he's hard" especially his 1005 please do yourself a favor, drop out and take a job as a window washer. Not only is he knownledgeable about history, but he can teach extremely well.

If you just read, it's very easy. you can even get away with not reading--but not get an a. classes, semi boring. 5 pop quizes, one midterm, one final. class participation worth alot. he's more than fair, but not totally easy.

incredibly knowledged, his class is worth taking if you enjoy history but don't want to be tortured by it. excellent choice of textbook for his teaching style. know your dates for the midterm and final, read and listen and you won't have problems.

I've never liked a history class before this one. Classes are a lot of note-taking, but he teaches the material so well. He loves class participation, but won't hate you if you're quiet. One of the best professors I've had at Baruch. Great guy.

He's a really good teacher. He uses power point presentations that are easy to follow, that I wish he would have posted on blackboard. He's helpful and a great teacher overall. Easy on the eyes, and NO, you won't notice his accent unless he says RailRoad

Easy course... a little boring at times.

Very good professor. Some think he's boring, but he really isn't if you're into American History. Also participation in class lectures may help your grade. As some people have already mentioned, he does give out pop quizzes, but they're straight from text

Great prof. I wasn't too much into history, but this guy taught stuff I won't forget. Organized, uses slideshows for lecturs. Not too easy, but essays & pops r fine if you read book & take notes. He likes it if you ask questions in class & talk. Take him.

He's good actually. quizzes aren't so hard, sometimes not even out of the book, but out of the lecture (you just have to have the capability of retaining new information). I got an A in the midterm and I still haven't bought the textbook... he does know A LOT but that helps if you have questions

Very knowledgeable, makes history interesting, midterms might be challenging, but if you value education, you are def getting ur money's worth from him. Very capable and interesting lecturer, his accent is very subtle and not bad sounding at all. He will wake you up though, so don't snooze.

If u wanna learn sth, pick up his course. If u wanna get a high grade without study, forget it.

this was my fave class last semester. he's not the easiest (i got a b-) but if you like history then you should take him. he is the best prof. i've had at baruch. there are pop quizzes (easy since he gives them after he talks about the material) and 2 essay exams (he gives the ques. out before)

I love this profesor. He's so organized and knows exactly what he is doing. I wasn't into history at all but after taking his class, I'm so into American history. I highly recommend him. Just make sure you like to read and pay close attention to what he says. Take a lot of notes and participate!!!

A- without ever looking at the book. The lessons are very clear and the quizes come straight from lesson. 7 quizes (lowest dropped), midterm, and final. If u can pay attention in class (which by the way he makes interesting) you will do great in the class without reading. Just watch out for lateness

Very good teacher. Explains everything in pretty good detail and has organized notes. He will put you to sleep sometimes though. If you like history then you should have no problems. Pretty easy A if you pay attention in class or do the reading.

First of all, he reads these postings, so if someone says he wont test you on WW1, you better believe he will! He is a really good teacher though. He is pretty funny and knows every little detail about the whole history of all time! Make sure you come on time though, he counts lateness as half an absense! Professor Heinrich is a great history professor. Makes history so much more interesting and knows so much information. Just read ahead for the pop quizzes and practice essays for the midterm and final and you'll be fine.

He is a great teacher, but a little tougher than I expected. He has a great deal of knowledge regarding history and wants to share it with the class. The quizzes can be annoying, but force you to keep up with the reading and pay attention in class. I learned a lot. Take him, he's very good.

Took the class by mistake by entering wrong code, but didn't regret it afterwards. Pop tests work out well in the end by keeping you on your toes. But the essay tests can be sketchy sometimes. In the end, tests are deff. reasonable, make sure you clean up early cuz the last few are hard and he drops lowest. You'll have to work, but you can get an A

Class is SO INTERESTING!! I hated history, but took it as an elective. But, he is so knowledgeable, and loved the way he taught. BUT, TESTS ARE SOOO HARD! All essays. You really have to study, but book that he used was really interesting. Should take if you want to learn, but not an easy at AT ALL!

Great professor.He defenatly knows everything.If you take his class you will learn a lot. In my opinion he is the best professor in Baruch.Pop up quizes are not hard if you read the 10 points that he gives on the syllabus. .However you have to remember some details from the book. Very well-educated, but can get difficult, especially if you fall behind on the readings (i learned this the hard way!). He is boring...but do not fall asleep b/c he WILL wake you up w/o hesitation. Besides, he'll give you a pop quiz at the end of class, just to check if you were paying attention. These quizzes count for 40%, so don't slack.

he is really good looking and a very well educated man. his quizes are unanounced and sometimes really tricky.He is a tough grader on the essays but if you participate in his class he recognizes the effort. NOT BORING and VERY GOOD LOOKING! what more could you ask for? HUH?

This guy looks like Jim Morrison. He is very clear in his lectures, good quizes if you paid attention in his lecture because the quizes are based on the day's lecture. Tough grader, and tough on cheating and sleeping in class. If you don't like history don't take him, otherwise, this is the best teacher for that.

He knows everything on history, even remembering the date without looking at the text. Surely, the pop up quizs are challenging, but If you read the chapters and listen to his lectures, you will do fine! Take him if you like history!!

Great professor, know's everything and anything there is to know about history, and throws in his own opinion making the class more interesting. If you don't like history he will make you, interesting class, pop tests are sometimes tricky but if you pay attention in class you'll do fine, tells you the topics for both midterm and final.

This is probably the best teacher I have had at Baruch and probably ever will, very well organized never uses notes or anything, he is much like a knowledge machine. Sometimes class is a little drousy but sometimes a little subtle joke gets in there. If you listen in class and read the book once a month you should be in the high B or A.

He's an awesome professor! Put's an outline of the day's discussion on powerpoint, & lectures from knowledge. He really knows his stuff! Plus he's funny too, & w/ great hair! There's some pop quizzes but they're easy if you listen to the lecture. His midterm & final is just one essay, so it's easy to make the grade. TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN! He's great.

6 quizs 10 points each, 2 tests, 1 midterm 1 final all essays have to remember 2 dates. seems fair and does try to help students out, doesnt curve so dont depend on that, if your planning on cheating at least dont get caught he is strict about it and will report you to the dean.

there was always some sort of dread going into that class...mostly because of the surprise quizes i guess...but i got used to it and did much better at the end...got a B and deserved it too :)

Great professor. If you take this class you will feel like you take classes at a better college. You will defenatly learn a lot in this class. Best professor in history ever... plus, he's really cute... that doesn't hurt. He gives quizzes, but they allow you to actually read what you're supposed 2 read and it will keep you on point. My personal opinion, is that you should take him,:-)

Prof. Heinrich is an awsome professor. I have no desire to learn about history, but he made the class interesting and I did learn a lot. For those who rate him as hard or as mean, you people need to grow up. You are in college now, and just because you cant get by in his class by cheating or slacking off, doesnt mean he is a bad professor. Nice Guy

wants you to remember all dates. Essay tests gives 3 topics, out of which two will be on the test out of which you can write an essay on one. Term paper is difficult, but he has an awesome head of hair!!He laughs at things that aren't funny but is very smart!

There is something about studing history in US. Nobody likes it no matter what class they take or who teaches them. I briefly met him and he was kind enough to explain course reqirements and the due date. I passed, that's all I know. Not as hard as some say.

I love him!!! He is such a nice man and an even better professor. His lectures are completely straitforward and his quizzes are more than fair. Make sure you do the quick reading prior to each class and you are guaranteed to do well. Highly recommended!!

He knows his stuff, sort of wierd how much he knows...Pop quizzes, but it's not that bad because he gives them to you at the end of the lecture, sucks if you didn't pay attention. Midterm+Final+Term Paper=All essays. It's a lot of stuff to remember, but if you study you should do well.

Ok guys. He is a great professor probably the best professor i have ever had. Yes you have to read the chapters for the quizzes but only the points on the syllabus. Now i am in grad school and i still remember things from American business history and it is very helpful for using examples in my papers. Very highly recomended

He gives six pop quizzes but they are based on the reading which is pretty easy.It's pretty boring at first but it gets betters. Take him he is pretty good.

as for me his quizzes were even much harder and more complicated than mid-term and final exams. u never know when u have a quiz ---> got to be prepared for each time, so u study hard for each attendance... prefer laid back professors.

my class for 6 quizzes half was an essay the other half was multiple choice and you get a midterm and final class Participation is worth 10% or you grade so speak up in class the book is used a lot if you are interested in purchasing it i will be selling in school so look for me on monday the 28th

i think he's a great prof. i have no regrets taking his class. the people who are saying he's hard are obviously the ones who aren't putting enough efforts in class. the professor gives you exactly what he wants you to study for his quizzes and tests. there are no trick questions or surprises. seriously, the man knows what he's doing.

He is super clear and makes history as interesting as it can be. I didn't mind the quizzes but for the midterm and final you are given three major topics and expected to write an essay on something from one of them which is difficult. If you can't handle that def don't take this class.

this man knows a lot of american history for being a german immigrant! his use of multimedia really enhances the class however somtimes he tends to ramble. this grading policy is fair.

Nice professor but he's a hard grader. He gives pop quizzes so make sure to study. Participation counts for 20% of the grade so make sure to read! His lectures are quite interesting and will talk about lots of interesting facts and events not mentioned in the book. I would recommend this class if you don't mind working hard for your grade.

This is an easy course. I'm averaging a B+ and I didn't read the textbook much. This is a very textbook-based class although his lectures do help a lot on quizzes. No homework besides the reading. There are a few quizzes, and about 7 papers including a final paper. I recommend him, he's funny, quite interesting and knows his stuff.

Great teacher. Really knows what hes talking about with EVERYTHING but can kind of ramble here and there which would make you bored if you aren't interested in history. Other than that his class is easy with a few quizes at the end of class and 7 papers. Easy B, if not higher.

This professor is FANTASTIC. Didn't enjoy history bfore his class, but he makes it extremely interesting, plays documentaries, music, is funny. VERY organized and you'll know exactly what's expected of you. Essay's are easy, just stick to what he asks. HIGHLY recommend his class. Not for lazy students, but you'll learn a lot. Easy 2 get a hold of.

Prof. Heinrich is amazing!!!! Everyone who says that an A is impossible obviously did not try. This class makes you read and answer a 10 question quizzes twice a week. Not hard at all people! His papers are very simple and he tells you exactly what he wants. He is extremely knowledgeable about what he is teaching and is so interesting. RECOMMEND!!!

Hard grader. There is homework for every class, but it's nothing ridiculous. The essays are a little confusing. Class was interesting, with a lot information covered. Dude really knows his stuff.

I have definately learnt a lot in this class, but this class is not for lazy ppl. You really have to keep up reading every single chapter Of The book and do online quizzes for every class + some pop up quizzes in class. Have to read a chapter before each class and do a 10 question take home quiz(20%), then he teaches on the chapter.Seven in class pop quizzes(20$). midterm take home essay (20%) and final take home essay (25%), class participation(15%) Take home quizzes are easy, and in class quizzes are copy of take homes.

Easy teacher if you know how to scheme. All of his homework quiz answers can be found online. You never have to read unless you like to do things the hard way. His essays are easy as long as you write what you want him to write. If you know how to work around things, hes an easy B and if your really good, an A.

Class was alright, lectures were boring and didnt really learn much from them, this was basically a teach-yourself course, 1 midterm and 1 final, in class quizzes and BB quizzes. Take him! and participate, he actually write down who participates

Professor Heinrich is a great. His lectures are very interesting, it is very difficult to be bored in his class. the work load isn't that bad a few papers and a presentation, although there are a lot of readings. If your minoring in History and need a 3000 level course, take him he is good.

Very arduous class. Had to do Blackboard quiz before every class. 1 midterm, 1 final (had to prepare many chapters and he chose 1). 1 long paper. He graded the participation for every class. You will learn history in his class though. I would avoid if it was for the grade. I got an A-, but was worried about the grade the whole semester.

Very good professor. I took him for HIS 1005 and got an A, am now taking him again for HIS 3460, and plan to take him again for the next topic in HIS 3460. Very fair grader, classes are more like elaborate conversations than lectures. Do the readings and you should be fine. Not a class to be lazy in.

One of the most rewarding classes I've taken at Baruch. He really pushes you to do your best both in writing papers and in class participation. Great Professor is an understatement. Sometimes you may think he's going off topic, but he brings everything together and it will help for the midterm/final. He knows his material and is very passionate about the subject.

Honestly, he is very knowledgeable and class is very interesting. This class could be very hard if you don't have a habit of regularly reading books. A hard class and a really nice teacher. His readings are often long but if you do the readings, you'll do well. No electronics.

He's a great and funny person. Always willing to help if you ask for it. He also does attendance the second the class starts so come on time. There's a lot to read for his homeworks but it's not too bad. Because you need the readings for his homework and quizzes. Should highly consider him.

Very lenient professor, main part of your grade is based on participation, so you want to attend his classes. His classes are more than just lectures, they're discussions and he tries and gets you involved. There's homework due almost every class, but it's all manageable and he goes over the material thoroughly. Would take again.

Topic World War II. Easy going class. Every class there is outline, 500 wordschapter, usually 1-2 chapters. Not too difficult. 3 map quizzes. No mid-term or final. 2 papers only. Participation is best way to get grade up. Lectures are more like class discussions. Like any class, do the work and youll be fine, its manageable. Definitely recommend.

Cool, funny, smart, engaging, etc. Just like in real life, if you follow instructions, you will succeed. Everyone complaining about the class being a "GPA killer" are beta-males, though it can be a little tough if you work full time and have other classes. Nonetheless, you will learn, and learn A LOT. Would take again without hesitation.

Nice guy, and really good at what he teaches (this was the class on WWII). Be on time, literally not a min late. There is a tremendous amount of reading and homework, but it's essential to particpate in class. Frankly, it's not that bad if you're into history. It's a lot of work, but great professor to learn from. Would take again.

Great guy, definitely knows his stuff. Make sure to do your online quizzes because they are worth 30% of your grade, they're not hard because the book is in front of you. Also participate.

One of my favorite professors. Read the textbook and participate in class. He plays favorites sometimes. It's an interesting class, overall.

Before every class you have to read a chapter of the textbook and do an online blackboard quiz but don't worry! Its open book and really easy! then in class he basically teaches to his essay questions so take really good notes! midterm and final are the same format, final not cumulative, gives you the possible questions so as long as you study; A!!

Professor Heinrich is the greatest. Best teacher in Baruch. Take his class; you will enjoy every minute of it.

Hate history but this was the easiest class i took this semester. Great professor, interesting lectures and only 2 tests (midterm and final).

HE GIVES YOU EVERY SINGLE MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTION WITH ANSWERS BEFORE THE MIDTERM AND FINAL. All that needs to be worried about is the essay on both tests. He very clearly prepares you for all possible essay prompts and gives you them in advance. Impossible to fail, very easy to do well.

By far the best prof of my college career. BRILLIANT individual, knows so much, so intelligent. A lot of reading but you don't mind doing it. Lectures are very engaging, gives exact quiz preps before quizzes, multiple choice. SERIOUSLY TAKE HIM, SO WORTH IT!

Took him previous semester for Naval History Class, which was pretty interesting. Now, I took him for a Business History Class which was somewhat dry. Summary on readings is due before every class, approx. 400 words. No exams but three short papers on topics discussed in class. Explains what he's looking for before paper is due.

Professor Heinrich is an excellent professor. Really knows his material and engages you during class. Make sure you participate during the lecture, he pays attention who speaks and has read the assigned books/excerpts. An online quiz every week and lots of reading. But still very interesting!

Did more work in this class than I've ever done in any class. Really tough grader (vague grading criteria). Takes attendance in the beginning and the end of class. Although this is true, his class was enjoyable and I learned A LOT of useful information. Basically, very hard but worth it if you want to learn. (No tests or final, only essays/papers).

Very good professor. You have daily blackboard quizzes but its super easy(assuming that you read the textbook, and you should). Theres two exams for the whole semester, the midterm and the final, each with one essay question. And regarding the content of those exams; They're all questions from your blackboard quiz, including the one essay question.

Tests are off the multiple choice homeworks that are due before each class (quizlet) + essay question that is also given to students before the test, does take attendance and assigns seating so you must go to the lectures. Midterm and final are the same format.

Professor Heinrich is by far one of Baruch's best professors. He does require a lot of reading, coming to class every day, and participation, but he is super interesting. He is passionate about the subject and it shows in class. The readings were all interesting and the class was well structured. Long final papers, but they were graded fairly.

Probably the best prof I've taken at Baruch (I'm a senior). Be prepared to do 30-40 pages of reading for every single class, along with a difficult quiz. Be prepared to be cold-called, be prepared to defend your answer or explain why you said what you said. He is extremely knowledgeable/passionate about the subject and it rubs off. not a HIS major

Grading clear from day one. 5 Quizzes, 1 group presentation, and 1 final paper. Very straightforward. Literally tells you everything that you need to do to get an A in the class.

Professor Heinrich is by far my favorite professor at Baruch. He goes indepth with every lecture, and really fosters a learning environment. I would recommend him to anyone who wants to learn more about history, very knowledgable.

Professor Heinrich is an engaging and knowledgeable instructor. The class is well-structured, with fair grading and helpful lectures. I found Unstuck study ai and the free textbook to be great study aids alongside the in-class experience.

This prof makes history so fun; he's probably one of my favorite profs here. The midterm and finals have a huge weight in this class, and they're essays, so beware, but other than that, he's awesome, and his class is relatively easy. Definitely take it!!!
