HE'S HELPFUL AND HE'S VERY CLEAR WHEN HE DISCUSSES THE READINGS. HIS TESTS ARE LONG AND TEDIOUS BUT AS LONG AS YOU READ THE STORY AND ATTEND THE CLASS DISCUSSIONS ON THE READINGS YOU'LL DO FINE.

Def take this class. I always walked out the door learning something new. The class is never boring and his assignments are fairly easy. However, there is a lot of writing.

Simply put..Dr. Kitts is the man. I've forged a close friendship with him and he is genuinely interested in me as a person as well as a student. Besides that, he really explains everything well and covers it at a comfortable pace. Strongly Recommended.

Cool guy...can be funny at times. He makes the class interesting, too. I cant say if he is easy or difficult but it is definently possible to get an A. Quizzes based on short story readings and there are a lot of readings but the quizzes are easy. 3 short papers (2 pgs each), 3 long papers (5 pgs each). A lot of work but he will improve ur writing.

Amazing Professor!!! You get three long papers to write in the semester and the response papers. There are also quizzes on readings in the beginning of classes. He makes class fun and the readings are not that bad. Take him he will help you throughout the semester just as long as you ask for it.

The others should take lessons from this guy. He's by far the best professor St John's has. His lectures are funny and enaging. The best there is!

You'll have a lot of speeches to give, but he is very helpful, funny, and understanding.

Kitts is a great guy. He really knows a lot about New York and he keeps the class interesting. However, it is a lot of work for DNY. Four short papers, a group project, midterm, final, and quizzes almost everyday on the assigned reading. Overall a good class but not an easy A.

He really helped me develop quality writing skills. His comments and criticisms were always insightful. He made time for substantive review of papers, exams etc. If you are looking for an easy A, he is not your guy. If you want to develop and cultivate skills you will need in the marketplace, take his class.

Kitts is a great professor. He is always willing to help and is a smart man with plenty of knowledge of nyc. Lenient with due dates- quizzes EVERY CLASS! Make sure to read!!!! The quizzes count towards your midterm and final. Midterm and final are out of 65 usually the remaining points come from your quiz grades. Highest grade on a paper was B stil

He's a really great professor. He gives a short quiz just about every class on the assigned readings which are very short. There are also a few really short easy essays. He has a pretty good personality and is a pretty cool nice guy.

mad cool prof. he does give quizes on the readings assigned every class which are really annoying though. he gives like 4 1-2 page papers which are pretty easy hes just a hard grader. no midterm. take home final. i really enjoyed his class though 3 hours passed by really quickk!

Great prof., I took him and all we did was write reviews. He does try to appeal to listeners of different kinds of music, we had a lot of choice in what we wrote about. Guidelines were not limiting. He gave really constructive feedback. Quiz every class to make sure you do the readings. It could be annoying, but the readings weren't that long.

the class was alot of work but it was easy work. if you dont read the assigned readings your screwed! he assigns reading every class and you have a quiz on it the following class(not hard). they were all fairly easy reads. if you do the readings and show up to class the rest is easy. he is very understanding and you actually learn!

Read, read, read, read, read all the pages in the textbooks he assigns. You have a quiz on them every class. Overall the class is pretty easy and he's a pretty chill professor.

the best english teacher i've had yet. the class isn't necessarily easy but if you do the readings and put effort into your papers you should be fine. he's HUGE on the no cell phone policy, he's always throwing kids out of class for that. a lot of writing but definitely worth it

I had him for DNY in freshmen year. This guy gives weekly quizzes to make sure you are keeping up with the readings. He gave me my grade for the class based on what I got on my final paper, which was a B+. Good professor, but the work was a little hectic.

ABSOLUTELY LOVE HIM! He makes a point to meet with his students like once a month to see how they're doing and talk about stuff, and he really cares & tries to help you! Class is pretty easy, and he's just a great man! So glad I got him as a prof!

LOVE HIM. He makes english enjoyable. There is a quiz every day on the reading assigned for homework. They're so easy if you just read, the stories are pretty interesting too. There are a couple short response papers and two 5 page papers. Don't let that scare you away though. You can pretty much write about what you want.

Quizzes every class based on readings for the day. Readings can get boring but others are interesting. Assigns a group project with random people in your class and makes you go to the city with them. Also has some presenters come during common hour. Attendance is mandatory. If you like reading, would recommend him. And no electronics allowed.

He is amazing , he is quite the character. I took him for DNY and he made my 7:30 class worth it. He takes you for a trip around Harlem and makes sure that you feel involved and learn. Just make sure you get there on time since he does have quizzes weekly on previously assigned readings.

I really loved this class. He doesn't usually take attendance, but it's your best interest to show up and take notes considering the tests are right from the notes he gives. He assigns a few short readings a week and a basic quiz on the content of the reading. As long as you actually read, you'll do fine. He's a great teacher overall!

Kitts is great. I took him for speech and he made us do one short speech (2 mins) per week. The topics were almost always up to us and occasionally he would ask us to give a long one (5 mins). Attendance is mandatory. If you don't like speaking just show him you're trying - he'll guide you to the A. He even wrote me a recommendation letter.

Dr. Kitts is a good dude. I can't describe him any other way. He's a regular, down-to-earth average Joe who just happens to have at least one doctorate and is also a published author. He gets to know everyone's names after about two classes. He has a dry sense of humor, and never ceases to keep class entertaining and informative. Great professor

This professor is amazing. The class involves a lot work, quizzes almost every class. You have to purchase outside books, 3 exams. 4 papers. HOWEVER, he is very helpful, allows you to rewrite papers to get an A, and extremely nice and understanding. I personally loved him. He never failed to make class interesting. Easy A if you try.

Amazing professor and I recommend taking. Had him for my month long summer class of Tragedy and Comedy. No textbook needed. Read the plays because there are quizzes the following class on the reading, but don't worry they are super easy! 100% would take him again. Easy grader on papers and they only had to be one page long!

One of the best professors Ive had since I started. If you have the chance take him! For public speaking youre allowed to give speeches on whatever you want. And as long as you follow the advice he gives each speech and he sees you progressing and giving your all, youll get a good grade. He is also very funny and relatable!

Prof Kitts is an amazing professor. He knows what he is doing and will guide you. If you want a speech class where you don't actually have to do speeches, don't take him. But if you're ready to learn and work on your problem areas in public speaking, take him. There's a speech weekly on anything you want. Put in the work and you have your A.

Wow! I was scared to take a speech class. So I decided to take this online but a few weeks before the semester started, it changed to in person. I didnt want to go. But by the third of fourth week, this is THE class I looked forward to going to. I dont know what to say besides if you dont take him you may regret it. Best class I ever took at SJU

Professor Kitts is an amazing professor. He can be tedious at times with his lectures, but he does throw in some good jokes to keep you interested. Definitely do the readings and don't spark note them because he does give quizzes on them the next day. After he grades the papers you can go to him after class to help you improve your writing.

Generally a chill dude. Allows you to make up speeches if you miss them. Four long speeches (~7mins), and ten short speeches (~3mins). A final exam which is just a take-home essay.

Kitts is such a sweetheart and one of the best out there. The class contains 5 papers, 1 term paper, and 3 exams. It's very paper heavy but if you get a bad grade, you can redo it and he will regrade it. He actually cares for his students and wants their writing to be great. Make sure you read the stories because the exams are based off the stories

Quizzes are on readings, we had a reading due every time we had class. He's chill with the papers, he just wants to see that you are putting in effort. Although he doesn't post grades on Canvas.

All readings are provided as PDFs, so no textbook needed. Stay consistent and it can be an easy A. Had a B- in midterm, worked hard in the final and got an A.
