Excellent professor!
A real cool guy, he gives you lect. outlines and you are responsible for takin excess notes during class. Tests: ALWAYS study..if you do you'll be fine. Learned a lot *two thumbs up*
I was lost during most of the class. Could not understrand why no matter how hard I studied I still got D's no the test. Hoping to pass the class with a C but not sure. The material is very hard to understand. Dosen't explain subject matter well. Expects everyone to know about the subject already.
I took him for both earth science and astronomy. Got a 98 in both. The secret is to study the class packet you have to buy and take notes that he gives you and then study the packet with the notes on index cards. His test are process of elimination! There is only one right answer.
Mr. Klee was very helpful. Although seemed unclear at first- if you ask him hes more than willing to help, and even give you answers. Very well-educated and enthusiastic about teaching about ROCKS. Lab is made up of 2 lab practicals. Stay organized & go to class and you'll have an easy 'A'!
awesome teacher and interesting
I loved Tom. He was way cool. All you had to do was go to class, USE THE MATERIALS , and STUDY!!!
75% of your grade is 2 exams. 1st exam is very difficult. 25% is weekly lab reports that he will give you the answers to if you don't understand. No chance for extra credit in this class.

I thought Tom was a great guy. He was always very helpful to me, but I gave him a score of 3 in a couple of areas because the quality of the material was low because it can throw you off. Two exams 75% and only 25% for labs? Thats harsh in my opinion.
He's not very clear on his instructions about what is going to be on the test. First day is was VERY rude about how much he would and would not help us. My opinion DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!!
I thought this class was very esay, you just have to take a lot of notes and actually pay attention to what he is talking about! Plus he gives you an outline, and study questions.
Klee does not help at all. When he thinks he is helping you, he is adding to your confusion. Tests are horrible, moving every 3 minutes to another table, this means no concentration allowed. Just a boring type of proffesor in general who tries to make lab interesting but unfortunately this is not in his capabilities.
Took Klee for lecture and lab. 1st lab exam was slightly difficult. The rest was fairly easy. Just study all of the lecture notes and you will do good on lecture exams. Extra credit for each exam, including final in lecture class only. Smart teacher, but a little dry.

He totally sucks. Puts too much material in each exam and very boring. Exams are too hard and detailed for a gen ed class. Lab consists of 2 tests only, the first one being VERY hard. He braged about giving a straight A student her 1st B in his lab. Thinks his class is the only class you have.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER IT IS A BIG MISTAKE. You will most likely end up with a D or F! If you don't believe me, youll see for yourself
Wonderful teacher! You will need to actually work for an A but this is not uncommon, I hope. Always there to help and a great PTK Advisor!
treats an intro class as though we are about to get our masters in earth science. He doesn't just highlight the important aspects of the course in his teachings. He instead crams every single bit of information in the text book into the EXTENSIVE notes. He always talked about how some of us would "fail his class". He was very discouraging!!
he was horrible, failed all test. Withdrew from his class. No personality or sense of humor!!Test was nothing like the assignments or notes. Very long test, alot of questions, and way to much inforamtion.
I was so shocked to see that ANYONE had anything positive to say about this man, but I figure that they must be Earth Science majors. This professor was negative, discouraging, and a little too enthusiastic about rocks. If you are not an earth science major, don't bother with this intro class that is designed as though we all want to persue a care
RUN FORREST RUN!!! Run in the opposite direction of this sad excuse for a professor. He should be out digging up rocks...because he clearly loves rocks and minerals, and it is just as clear that he doesn't care to be teaching. (maybe that is why so many people fail his class) He said many times some of us weren't going to pass

this professor should be limited to teaching only those who wish to be employed in one of the earth science fields. He is rediculous when it comes to the amount of material he expected us to know. He makes you buy his own manual, and it covers EVERYTHING in the entire book. (we are tested on all of it)
This guy is the perfect example of what a teacher should NOT be. He knows everyone in the class are NON science majors, and he is hellbent to make the course as difficult as he possibly can. He expects graduate level english Gordon Rule writing assignments, when the same paper in any other course that would get an "A", will get a "d" or "f" here.
OK, I read these horror stories and am now convinced there must be alternate realities. I enjoyed Mr. Klee's astronomy classes, learned a lot, had to study--yes, but made an A without losing sleep. I have nothing but good things to say about this man. I also found him to be very helpful--for all who would ask for help. The course book mentioned
this teacher made an already mundane class 20times worse! he expected us to know everything in the book-tests very hard-always told us we wouldnt pass. horrible!!
This professor is hard, yes, but he's also incredibly clear and helpful. If you pay attention and study, you will do well. I worked hard but made good grades all through his class. Imagine a professor who actually wants you to work! That's ludicrous! A little dry, but will leave you in no doubt of what he wants you to know. Buy the objectives outli
He basically taught his class like high school! it was simple if you showed up and took notes!
I am not an earth science major, in fact I really don't care for science. However, I got an A in lecture and lab because I studied and went to class. If you do the work, you get the good grade. Plain & simple
Ok guys, it was a lab, how hard can it be I thought. Well Klee will not sleep at night just to make it hard for you. Repeats some annoying phrases such as "I guarantee it" and is a bit arrogant. There are workshops you can take Mr.Klee to learn how to teach.
Sweetest man EVER! Keep up in class and take good notes. Everything you need is in the outline. GO TO CLASS and study the notes and you will be fine!
SO BORING!! I wanted to fall asleep. the class really isnt that hard. you just have to listen....to him saying the same thing over and over :). HES REALLY NICE THOUGH. just repetative. also very helpful, he doesnt want you to fail.
Very nice teacher, basically a lecture, but he allows you to ask ?'s. All you have to do is study your notes. No need for book. Would def recommend.
He is a nice guy who wants you to pass. his attendance policy doesn't apply only if you miss half of the classes during the semester. Easy A or B Gordon rule very easy
nice guy but very tough if you are not a science major!
REMINDS ME OF KIP DYNAMITE..VERY BORING HORRIBLE TEACHER..HAD TO DROP CLASS MID SEMESTER.. DONT TAKE HIM!!
You can tell a lot about a person based on what comes out of his mouth, and in what way it does. It seems to me this guy finally got some power in his hands because he probably was the dork of his own class who got ridiculed bad, and now our generation pays. Power in the wrong hands. What an embarassment just to be next to him, must less work with.
He is a very good teacher! This is an extremely boring class, however, he makes every attempt to improve his lectures with visual aids, analogies, etc. He is very thorough, repeats himself over and over to ensure you understand and his notes are already typed up for you. Tests follow notes and he is always willing to help you out. Great teacher
It is a lecture class, you will be taking notes the whole time. However he is a great teacher, and he really wants you to learn, he tries to make it as intresting as he possibly can. Test are not easy but he gives you chances to earn extra points. Follow your notes and study for tests and you'll be fine.
This guy is very condescending! If you think his so-called "lecture notes" will be useful you're DEAD WRONG! 4 tests;50 ?s and VERY HARD! The test & notes DO NOT match up-the wording is very different therefore very confusing! Almost as if he wants/expects 1/2 the class to fail-worse yet withdrawl & lose $$. Needs teacher improvement courses ASAP!
This class was by far the most difficult I have ever taken at HCC! Not only was the class difficult the teachers ability to teach can be summed up in one word..HORRIBLE!!!! DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS,YOU WILL REGRET IT!
I took SUM GLY1001&Lab &disagree w/all the people bashing T.Klee. His courses are boring/hard because you people make it that way. His text book is very comprehensive & he is always ready to explain and go over material even after classes. His tests are mutl choices & studying the txt book is enough. Most of you must still be in highschool mode.
BORING BORING BORING! He wastes so much time going over useless information that you he says you will not need to remember..but confuses you in the entire process!! He is by far the worst teacher I have experienced at HCC...its not just the class...its the teacher!!!! F- for sure!!!
Go to class, pay attention, and study. He gives you clues regarding the test questions throughout the lecture. Also allows for a Q & A day prior to the test. If you don't go to class or study, you will not do well.
I took his Earth Science class and lab over the summer. I def. had to study, but it was an easy A for me. I think he was a nice guy and great teacher.
way to hard for a 1000 level course.
Teacher is an all around sweet guy, BUT...no matter how hard I studied I still got a C average or lower on the test, which is a first for me, I am an A student. I suggest if science is not your major or area of interest, do not take this teacher. As nice as he is, it is not for entry level students.
This class was EXTREMELY difficult. I am naturally an A/B student, but I found this class almost impossible to pass. Overall, I made a C average, but it was very time consuming. I literally had to study from 4/5 hours for exams. Do not take this class unless you are a science major. YOU WILL REGRET IT!
Good teacher overall. He helps out a lot. Whenever you have a ? he will answer it all the time. I usually am a C student but got an easy B in his class. He reviews right before a test so I recommend studying a little before test and have good ?s ready to go when you show up test day.
This teacher is horrible! He wastes time during lectures talking about "students who have highschool attitudes will not pass". He dumbs everything down in his lectures, but the tests are straight from the book, and HARD!!! It was my first failed class EVER! DO NOT take this teacher, you will fail.
Mr Klee's lecture's were tortuous. Very long and boring.
This guy is a clown. Boring, monotonous, and just brutal to sit through. DO NOT TAKE KLEE! You will regret it.
This prof needs to realize that not everyone attending his class is an EARTH SCIENCE MAJOR!! He was negative from day one by saying..."Not all of you will pass...many of you will fail" . When you have a large number of students failing- even A students- the problem might be with the professor!!
His class is not a cake walk but also not difficult at all. I didn't score lower than an A on any of his tests for lecture. If you take notes and study even a little you'll be fine. He is one of a very few teachers at HCC that try to prepare you for University by not making everything extremely easy. A/B students should have no problem.
Klee is probably the nicest professor that I've come across. His class is semi-tough, but if you study enough and attend class reguarly, you should be able to pass. However, his classes are very boring! If you are struggling with the class and you truly are trying your best, he will try to help you as much as he can.
This professor really ignite my interest towards Earth Sciences. He was able to answered all my questions. He has knowledge on Science- and he enjoys his career. The class was not easy, but it dares you to study and go deeper into the subject.
Klee is a really helpful teacher, and he really enjoys the subject. Took his lab and his class, and found it very hard to pull a B in this class. You MUST study, and you MUST show up to pretty much every class. He wants you to succeed so there are many opportunities for extra credit.
OMG!!!!!!! DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. GUARANTEED FAILING GRADE!!! I did his outlines and still failed. Very boring and pointless. Didn't keep me interested. His lecture notes were crap, awful professor OVERALL!!!!!!! He does not realize that not every student is a SCIENCE major. Take someone else. Save yourself.
Professor Klee is a really nice professor. I have taken him for Earth Science and Environmental Science. If you attend class, take notes and study (you must study to pass his tests) you will do fine. He loves what he teaches and it shows. Very helpful and tries his best to help you succeed.
Drop this class and take Prof. Werhner online!!! Klee gave me a D the semester my dad died knowing I still did my best to study and keep up..his tests are confusing and his lectures are boring. I just feel if ES is not your fav, take Prof. Werhner, he is so much more interesting!!!
Professor Klee is hands down my favorite teacher at HCC. Others on here say that his notes are crap and his lectures are crap but obviously they were just crappy students. The only way college will work is if you study and Klee gives you everything you need to pass.
Mr. Klee is a wonderful instructor. You MUST study to do well on his exams, but he gives you all of the material needed to succeed. He is always willing to answer any questions and help out in any way he can in order for you to be successful. I would definately take him again.
RUN !!!! I just withdrew from his class. Very arrogant and rude and treats students like in high school. Told students that if he didn't like the gordan rule papers that he would send the student to the writing center..Very strict about how his papers should be, as if it was an English Comp class! Don't take him!!
Good teacher. Read the book and study the notes and the A is yours. He can be a bit bland at times but he's definately one of those theachers that enjoys what they do. The work isn't very demanding. Use flashcards to memorize the material. Maintain the A and you can skip the final.
This is my favorite prof at HCC. I have taken environmental science, and earth science from him. I also did his tropical ecosystems class where you travel to Belize for 2 weeks during the summer. You do have to study in his classes, but its college, grow up! He really cares about his students and gives you the opportunity to succeed. Great guy!
His class is tough, I'm not going to lie. But he does give students ample opportunities to receive good grades and he is pretty helpful. Just make sure you read through the textbook as well as his reviews though and you'll be good.
He is so boring. You can not even understand what he's saying because you're too busy not trying to kill yourself. Lecture notes are not helpful at all. His tests are super hard, and have material not covered in the lecture. AWFUL>
Mr Klee is a great prof. Super easy. HE GIVES YOU THE MATERIAL THATS ON THE TESTS. All you need to do if hill in the blanks on the worksheets and study them before the exams. Dont listen to all these posts, they do not give him the credit he deserved. Gives lots of extra credit n even allows you to replace your lowest exam grade. Prof Klee = easy A
Loved him! He really cares about the class & seems to genuinely enjoy teaching. He knows what he is teaching and shares pictures that he has taken on his adventures that relate to items you learn in class. I strongly recommend this class for students with English as a second language as he enunciates and emphasizes every word; feels like ESOL
Horrible, his voice is very annoying thats the first part. I see good reviews for earth science that may be his thing but Astronomy is not and I would NOT recommend him. I could not focus in class nor was the material retainable. the exams....I'm sure I should get into that either.
Mr Klee class is very transferable . If you are looking for a blow off class, you are looking in the wrong direction. Put your time in and you will do well. He is very thorough and articulate. Boring if you are looking to be entertained. If you have an interest in Science, Mr Klee is right you, like he was for me.
All of his exams are very challenging. The study questions help you get a decent grade on them. It's like the test are design for earth science experts when this class is intended for non science majors. At least you can get up to 26 extra credit points. I recommend that you find someone else.
Tough but fair professor. He did talk down to us sometimes, but that is because it is an entry class. Study hard, follow his notes and take more of your own, and you will do well. He loves his subject. His lab class is very hard, and you have to pay attention and study - there are only 2 changes to do well.
I have some interesting anecdotes about Professor Klee, I knew him outside of the classroom before I took his course, so I definitely know that he's very PASSIONATE about what he teaches, so just pay attention and take ALL the notes you can. If you want a fair professor and study a LOT from his lecture outlines, you will definitely pass.
RUN! You must come to class to take notes. If you don't understand the lesson don't bother asking for clarification because Mr. Klee will just repeat what he said. He wastes time each class trying to learn everyone's names and explaining the grading process. He talks down to everyone. He's socially awkward!
He gives extra credit just for missing less than 5 days of class. And the mandatory papers are extra credit. They are really easy. The lectures are boring, I rarely listened to what he said. After each outline is finished go through and answer the objective questions at the end. If you study the questions you can get atleast a B on the tests.
Professor Klee made this class the most difficuly class i have ever taken at HCC. The entire class is lecture and he is vert mono-tone, does not explain the subject in a way a person who is not an expert in this subject would understand. His tests are very challenging. If you can take this class with another professor i highly recommend that!
4 tests give extra credit really boring but easy notes 95% already printed out need to show up for the only 5% if you need help he stays after class and helps you
Mr. Klee is a great professor and he will take time out to help you. However, If you need review sheets for exams, and he has 4 but drops the lowest, or online power points to see more of what he covered when you get home, do not take him because you get neither. Hard to keep up with.
Would NOT recommend Mr. Klee. His class is terribly boring and his notes are nothing like the tests. He doesn't teach the information well and makes it seem easier than it is. The tests are hard and give information that he didn't cover well enough to be on the test. Also, he is not the friendliest man.
Boring! None of his "outline notes" help with the tests at all. By far the worst professor I've ever had! He gets off topic a lot, doesn't really know how to answer a question.
Tom is awesome! You do not need the book, all you need are the lecture notes that are extremely cheap. If you don't show up for class don't bother taking him. As long as you study the lecture notes and show up to class to fill out the lecture notes you should be able to pass this class easy. Lots of extra credit opportunities.
He makes things more complicated than they need to be! I didn't understand any of his notes, and seriously reading the book was more exciting than going to his class. The only good thing about Mr. Klee's class is all the extra credit points he gives. I'm sure he does it so the majority of his class doesn't fail. Just take another professor.
Professor Klee is the worst teacher that I have ever had. His astronomy class was so difficult. He requires you to retain so much information for each test. He assigns a lot of busy work, lots of writing assignments, a book read for Gordon rule and has super dry, and long, boring lectures. He prides himself on how hard that his tests are.
his grading criteria is the best and even if you don't do good in the exam, there are a lot of extra credits. I recommend you to take this class, you won't regret it.
He knows what he is talking about. He has a few short essays for the Gordon rule. It you constantly miss class you won't pass. Pay attention and you will pass.
His lectures are pretty boring but as along as you look over the notes before the test you'll at least get a C, which is fine because he gives tons of extra credit but you have to attend class to get it. There are 3 papers but if you get a combined score of 7/8 on the first two you don't have to write the 3rd. As long as you show up you'll be fine.
It was a pretty tough class overall. It was all lecture and taking notes. 3 writing assignments total. He gives you the opportunity to earn extra credit to bump you up a letter grade, but you have to put some work in to get the extra credit. His test are based on the objective questions you do in class. IF YOU DONT APPLY YOURSELF YOU WILL FAIL!!
He is a nice professor and hes willing to help you if you need it, however, he does expect you to have studied a lot. Klee gives lots of visuals during lectures. If you have a harder time studying and remembering things, I wouldnt recommend Klee. You will have to put in a time. Your exam grades is like 85% of your overall grade. Do well on exams.
Klees Class is challenging. His exams are very hard. You have to understand before you can memorize anything. His exams are not 100% direct from what u studied. You have to be able to make connections when you study. There is a lot of information to remember. If u do not understand science well, do not take him. Exams are hard and wording is hard.
The most BORING class you will EVER take! Nice professor though. I don't understand how students have said he gives "tons of extra credit" because I never missed a day of class, did well on my papers, and never earned extra credit. His class is based on 4 tests ONLY. If you don't do well on his tests, you will NOT pass. I would NOT recommend.
Professor Klee is wonderful, I love his personality *witty humor*! His class might seem intimidating at first because it's lecture heavy but it's easy to pass. He's just a very organized and structured person, he does things by the book. Participation and attendance is important for you to pass because a lot of extra credit is awarded through it.
I liked that he made it easy for extra credit assignments to boost the grade. Its a lot of studying but you only have to buy the workbook for note-taking. Textbook is not required. As long as you study the material and do the extra assignments, you'll do fine. The way you write your notes will determine your grade.
He gives opportunity to you the pass, but eventhoug you do all extra credit is a hard class
You guys are funny. Must attend class to take notes requires you to retain a lot of info for tests his class is all lecture must write essays for the Gordon rule um if that doesnt describe ANY OTHER college class, idk what does. He was awesome. Witty, passionate about earth science, gives great study guides, esp for the lab. Recommend!
Absolutely WORST class ever. Professor was nice; however, he only grades exams and what this class is based on. If you do not pass the exams, YOU WILL FAIL. No extra credit given in my class. I NEVER missed a single class, took excellent notes and only passed one exam. Take another professor, even at a different location.
He stepped in after the original prof left. Buy the cheap notes and copy PP lectures. Extra credit is available. If you miss one, there's another. You write 3 GR papers and if you get a perfect score on the first 2, you don't have to do the 3rd. Study the notes bc his exams are based on that. Grades are based heavily on those exams.
I took ESC-1000 as a lecture course with live meetings. I also had Professor Klee for the Earth Science lab. He clearly identifies what is expected in the course. If you purchase the lecture guide (around $5), it makes studying much easier and you do not have to hand-write the notes as much. Lots of extra credit opportunities. Take time to study.
Professor Klee was one of the sweetest professors I've ever had. His tests can be a little tricky but the class is easy to pass if you attend the lectures and pay attention. He gives students many chances to pass and is very knowledgeable about space.
Professor Klee was very clear from the beginning of the semester how class and grades would work. Notes werent the best and the reviews didnt give a strong idea of what to study so it was best to study everything. While all of this is seemingly straightforward he gave many chances to basically improved your grade by one letter simply doing work
His class is very lecture heavy and it's highly recommended that you attend every lecture. His grading system basically consists of only 4 exams and 1 final (optional) exam. All exam has 50 questions and if you pay attention during the lecture and do the objective questions that are given in each chapter then you should be able to pass this class.
I took Professor Klee for both lecture and lab. For his lecture, your grade is based off 4 exams, 3 GR papers, 1 presentation and 1 take home test. Study hard for the exams because they are weighed heavily! He provides extra credit to help you out a bit. For the lab, we only met once a week and you can work in groups to complete lab assignments.
Tested on 4 exams and a optional final that replaces lowest. Best thing to do is to show up and study the objectives in the outline. I did this and I got nothing lower than an B on each exams.
Professor Klee is a great professor. Very knowledgeable and understanding while explaining his material. Exams are easy if you study the right stuff. Attendance is crucial
He's a nice teacher and very passionate about astronomy but if you're only taking this class for the credit it WILL humble you. His exams are difficult and the review sheets help a little, if you wanna pass you have to study everything yourself start to finish. The grading scale is very forgiving.
GREAT professor, I really loved taking his class. He lectures on PowerPoints that are available online in case you miss a class. Very generous grader. He also made a $20 workbook you can buy from the bookstore instead of the expansive textbook, which was very helpful and thoughtful. He will also let you know exactly which pages will be on the exams
Took Klee again this sem bc he is so great at giving you opportunities to succeed, he does not grade the normal way so make sure you understand his grading system and you have to take advantage of the objective questions for test prep they are as close to the test as possible.
If you pay attention, you will pass this class! He gives you ideas of what the questions will be like on the exam. He also gives a lot of extra credit, if you just do them. Some of it is just attending class extra credit. His exams are 50 questions but it isn't as hard as it may seem. As long as you got an idea of what the subject is, you'll be ok.
Although I did get a good grade in this class and there was a good amount of extra credit, the professor was at times very inaccessible and uncooperative. His class was also very traditional and didn't include technology necessary to function properly as a student in this day and age. The grades HEAVILY relied upon exams causing a lot of withdrawal
Professor Klee's class can be challenging, but engaging with the material and utilizing resources like the workbook and unstuck AI can really pay off. The exams are tough, but the grading scale is forgiving if you put in the work.
professor is difficult to communicate with. never gives straight answers. over talks and over complicates class expectations. Syllabus is hard to understand and on red paper. he comes off rude. I can tell he means for everyone to succeed; he doesn't make it easy. The outline he made helps a bit, you still need to study it before and after class.
horrible teaching style. TEST HEAVY. if you don't test well you will not pass. relies on objectives to teach you. which are unhelpful. he will not help. hell say do the objectives. WOULD NOT recommend this professor to anyone.
Literally on the edge of tears due to how garbage this class is. You literally have to study a whole week for each exam like you don't have other stuff to do. Only way to pass this class is if it was the ONLY class you are taking on the entire semester. Objectives DO NOT HELP. Unless you're a science major, you are DOOMED if you have him.
Very sexy guy. I was happy he was my instructor.
You HAVE to study. I took this class because I needed the credits. It is not impossible to pass, professor Klee gives a lot of extra credit opportunity, but the test/ exams DO weigh a lot.
The objectives teach you not him so demand time in class to ask questions if you're confused. Things are very fast paced; its test after test! He goes by his own rules and communication is confusing. Do not take him if this class is just for a credit. it WILL stress you out.
