take his class

Good teacher. Very helpful. Will give you hints on tests (multiple choice questions).
good teacher
I just took his online class, I did not get any feedback from him on anything. He made it an arts and crafts class (potato stamps and 3D oragami) which didn't seem appropriate for a 101 art history class. It's not exactly a hard class but he makes you do
I took his online class, it was very enjoyable. I learned a lot about really interesting art. I reccommend this class
An amazing teacher, made art history the most interesting class I have ever taken before. Tests and quizzes are well-paced and easy to study for. Great semester, great teacher.
I was very intersted in this class before I took it, however it turned out to be pretty boring. Although, it is easy to get a good grade. There are three slide tests and exams which are not hard at all, however it can be hard to stay awake! And he subtracts points for missing class.
he rolls his eyes at you hard to tell if he was awake he was not helpful and he thought he knew everyhting about everything
easiest online class ever! i took it over summer...it was a such a joke
Truly inspiring for this Art History student. Fun, brainy, and a little bit tweedy.
I took the online class and I really enjoyed it. It is a easy class if you do all the work. The teacher is great and he is also very understanding. You have to write quite a few short papers but its not even a big deal.
This online class was so easy. If you can just keep on top of one one-page, single space essay a week (writing at about a 4th grade level), you'll be fine. Oh, and make sure you have multiple friends take this class so you can collaborate on tests.
Easy grader, but somehow boring.
Online is organized and focused, you know what to do and how to do it. Weekly assignment [easy 2 page papers] and bulletin board discussions. 3 Tests... relitevely hard. overall.. you do the reading, you'll get an A/B
Online class...easy. You write ten 2 page papers, but they are easy. The tests may seem hard, but are simple if you save all the online lectures to MSword, or print them out, or just use the companion outline that is available (it is a condenced version of lectures) Got an A on all 3 tests.
boring lecture and easy slide memorization tests made bearable by interesting subject.
Thomas Larson was one of those professors that changed my life and education.... he is inspiring and interesting... he examines the artwork INSTEAD of just the chain of cause and effect it mad ein art history.... this professor is truly a gift! AWESOME
A really cool guy- very informed about all kinds of art, and makes 80 minutes of slideshow interesting which must not be an easy task.
I'm taking his online class... I just found him to be short and rude. The class leaves much to be desired as well.
Dr. Larson was a very sweet and easy going professor. I just loved his classes and had a great time learning about art. I wish I had taken more classes with him. Keep track of the art works on his study guide, write a nice term paper and you are good to go.
His online class is cake. just a short paper every week and one bullitin posting. such an easy A. the only thing to watch out for is the exams, impossible unless you have a friend in the class with you.
Great online class, really easy. However has a high attitude but very nice.
Larson is very knowledgeable in his field. Extremely funny & so interesting that I've taken him 3 times (& art isn't even my major). He's fair & I'm gonna miss taking his classes. The slide tests & quizes are scantron, but he mixes it up with some fill-in-the-blank & matching. Awesome professor, I highly recommend him to anyone, art major or not.
Not only he Dr. Larson the best art professor in the department, but the best professor I have had at city college. I have taken every class he offers and always look forward to them. I have to say, this is the one class I don't check the clock every 5 mintues in. =) highly highly recommended
Easily the least difficult class I have ever taken! Lectures are quite dry and almost entirely boring (half the time I found it hard not to fall to sleep). The papers are a breeze and the tests hardly require intense study.
I am taking his class on line and test are super easy if you print out all the material. Don't need to read the textbook or study at all. Over the e-mails he was rude, I couldn't believe my eyes! Homeworks are easy and fast. Easy class, take it if you need an easy A.
Prof Larson is unfair and has a bad attitude. He is unclear about his requirements for his work and is quite rude when you ask him questions. It takes FOREVER for him to get back to you on emails and is RARELY EVER at his office hours and He gets easily annoyed. Better luck teaching the class to yourself!
THE BEST ART HISTORY PROF AT CC! Larson will change your opinion on art AND education! He is everything a great prof should be and has the best intentions for his students! Even if you don't love art history as much as I do, you will look foward to his classes!!! A++++++++++
I took Art 101 online over the summer. It was really easy, i didn't learn anything though. The papers are a page long, 2 at most and are so easy. tests are hard but online take them with a friend. Easy A, but again... didn't learn anything
He is an amazing teacher. I really value all the information he gives and his assignments aren't difficult whatsoever
Prof Larson is one of my favorite teachers at CC, he is very lenient when it comes to tests and quizzes(if you miss it he lets you take it), he is very nice and likes to get to know his students. I love his teaching style and would definitely take another class from him again!!!!
Really nice guy. Lectures are pretty boring, don't take him in the morning. Made me really want to travel to Europe. Overall easy class, Slide tests are straight forward, exams are online, no accumulative final, exams online. Easy A, good GE for IGETC
I actually took his Online class. All the assignments are Pass/No Pass, but the exams are REALLY difficult. Overall, this would prepare you for a UC-level course. Maybe it is safer to not take online?
I took the class online which I soon realized was a terrible decision. When I would ask him questions he would rarely be helpful. I also took this class during the summer which made things much more difficult. Do well on the papers and you can salvage a good grade.
Took this class Online in Summer. Any class you take during summer session is going to be stressful but this class wasn't too bad, it was actually interesting. I've never taken an art class in my life. I learned so much from this class. The papers were a little difficult for me to write because I am new to art but I put in effort and got an A.
Such an amazing guy! He's really nice and jokes around a lot, but he stays attentive. His lectures are very interesting and clear. Just study hard for the slide tests and you should be fine! He grades the essays very easy!
Amazing guy. I wasn't looking forward to this class but he made it really interesting. My attendance wasn't great at some points but I still passed with a good grade. He's very fun and his lectures are great.
Read all the previous reviews for his online class...and no, this isn't easy. I'm doing an Art History Minor and I HOPE I get a C..Everything is super clear and easy until you get to his tests. I sure hope he curves...
Prof. Lawson made this class interesting and entertaining. He cracks a few jokes about the material each day, and is a fair grader. I really enjoyed his class, I recommend it!
LOVE this teacher! very nice guy, fun class...textbook is really only useful for writing essays (but VERY helpful for that) and for the tests all of the answers are in the packet you get. tests are online so not too bad (with a friend and notes its really easy)
I took this class in the morning and sometimes I had to try hard not to fall asleep. But other than that the class is pretty easy. Slide tests are easy if you memorize what you have to memorize. Tests are online and you can use your notes and textbook but they are timed! There are 2 essays you have to do.
Key to doing well: 1. memorize for slide tests (straight forward) 2. for the online tests they can be a little tricky but the answers will be found in part from lecture and in part from random facts from the reading that make it hard to google even though its online
Dr Larson one of the best teachers I ever had in my life, I'm taking my GED classes from 3 diff schools & the only class I really enjoyed was ART 101, I took it online this summer and we just finished, I loved it, Dr larson just adorable, he is very helpfully and cares about his students, just do all the decisions and essays and you will be fine
I took this class online. It is really easy to keep up with online discussions and all of the discussions relate with the lesson. The tests are not hard if you read the book. Final projects are simple and he is such a nice teacher!
I had this class in the mornings for the spring semester. Sometimes I had a hard time staying awake. Tips study the pictures and memorize them for the Slide Tests and there are 2 essays you have to do. Tests are online, so you can use your textbook and notes but you are timed. Great class!
Visual Literacy online course for Gen Ed. It was a pleasant challenge. It's difficult to rate the professor on an interpersonal level. I do feel, though, that he is more helpful for students who struggle and is more challenging for students who need more challenge.
Took Art 101 online. Didn't like it at first but learned to love it. I did each discussion and lesson the night before it was due and then didn't worry about the class for another week 'till the next assignment. At the end of the semester we did actual art assignments which were fun. I never got less than a 90% on any assignment. Enjoyable Class!
I took Dr. Larsen's online course, and have mixed reviews. Assignments are VERY easy, but the tests are quite challenging. As long as you do all the work, you will pass, but won't learn much. He can be helpful on his own terms. He has ignored several emails I've sent him, which I found irritating. Easy A or B!
I really enjoyed this class. If your a math or science major you should take this class because its fun, informative and you'll have the chance to talk to art students of the opposite sex. What more incentive do you need?
Great teacher. Exams and assignments fairly easy. I was scared to do actual art as part of the course since I am not artist but Dr. Larson was kind and gave ample time to complete the work. I actually had fun doing the art even though not artistic.
I enjoyed his class a lot. I am a terrible test taker--There were 3 tests and I got 65%'s on 2 of the tests and a 50% on one of them...at the end of the course he rounded them ALL to 70%'s. I got an A+ on every single assignment that he had assigned and all of the discussions. Very good class. I enjoyed it!
Easiest class ever! i never read the book. just memorize the pictures for the slide tests and try to ace your essays! the online tests are a bit hard but if you study the packet and notes youll do fine.
Larson is pretty cool. The class is not difficult at all. Memorize the pictures for the slide test and put a decent amount of effort into the essays (requirement 400-600 words) and you'll do fine. Online tests are kinda hard, definitely buy the packet suggested. It'll help a lot. He's a nice guy and very lenient.
I took his online class and had a great experience with it, assignments are quick and easy, he is very clear and an easy grader. Highly recommend!
It's a super easy class as long as you attend and take notes (helpful mainly for exams). He offers a lot of extra credit, which is not difficult. And overall a good teacher.
Lectures are super boring, 3 exams online, 6 slide tests, 2 easy papers, mandatory attendance, funny guy just really really boring and I can't stress that enough. bring laptop or other hw to do during class and sit in the back. Honors section: make any piece of art that is a response to any work in the textbook and a 2 pg paper about it
Lectures are interesting, can be a bit boring sometimes though if this is not your field of interest. However, papers are on the easier side, so is the artistic response project for the Honors section. The online exams are okay and the regular quizzes in class too, as long as you prepare for them. He is a really nice and helpful person though.
He is so boring and very easily distracted. There are 3 short papers, 3 online exams, and 3 slide quizzes. Slide quizzes are easy and so are the papers but exams are all on notes in class and are pretty difficult. Take notes on the major groups and techniques artists used and the exams will be a breeze.
Mr Larson is a super a chill laid back Art History Professor. He dosnt care enough to fail anyone, if anything he'l help you out if you miss assignments. Sometimes he comes into class and dismisses everyone because he dosnt feel like teaching LOL. Assignments are super easy, most of them are online. Easy A !
I am so glad I took this art class. It was super easy and really interesting. He gives very clear instructions, and you should expect an assignment/discussion every week, but they are not difficult and took me less than 2 hours each week to complete. It was very interesting and I really enjoyed the creative projects! Easy A! Would take again!
Excruciatingly boring - lectures are long and dull and the honors section is pointless. 6 slide test, two papers, two exams, and a final. Honors section: artwork re-creation and short paper on it. Stopped taking attendance in the honors section about half way through. The answers to the two online exams aren't really in the textbook but easy A
Fairly easy class as long as you study for the Slide tests on the art pieces and take good notes in class for the tests. All of the actual tests are online and he gives you an hour to do them so you have PLENTY of time to figure out the correct answer! He is very passionate about art, you may get a little sleepy in the dark classroom though!
He's a good professor who knows how to teach. His class is hard but that's what you would expect from an honors class no? There are 6 slide quizzes, 3 online tests (hard af), and 2 essays that are supposed to be 2-3 pages long. He's also funny and interesting in my opinion.
just finished taking this class for the summer. Relatively easy, just a few discussions and short essays on interesting topics each week.
I took art 101 because it was mandatory but I would take it going if it was not. He is a good teacher, he gives a lot of projects but fair grading. He rounds the grades. Give thoughtful care to your projects and you'll pass with a good/excellent grade. He cares about the students.
This class has by far been the easiest course I've taken at SBCC. 3 exams, all online with 1hr15min timing. Two 500 word essays and 6 slide tests(memorization). Go to class and you will pass.
All you need to do is turn in your assignments and you will get full credit. The assignments are easy and for discussions you don't have to respond to anyone. The tests were easy from my perspective as I didn't use my textbook and still got an A on them. If you skip an assignment your grade will suffer so just do them all.
Took my first online class, was really easy! Just remember to turn in the assignments and discussions on time, do the exams on time etc.
Use the textbook for the online homework and exams and you'll pass. Start the final projects early and you'll be good.
His lectures are very intersting and enjoyable. He is very organized. Reading is not assigned but its very important to read the chapters that correlate with lecture in order to do well on his exams, which are very challenging. The exams are online so take advantage of that. Other than the exams the class is pretty laid back and fun:)
I never understood Art History before. Professor Larson opened my eyes to the moments where historical events, society, & the individual come together and change everything. I have a greater understanding of not only art; but, how artists and society connect to each other. Anyone serious about being an artist needs to take his classes.
There are weekly discussions and lessons but they're all really easy. The tests are simple and he's really nice
Very boring. Honestly, just show up, sign yourself in, and leave. He provides all the items that will be on the test, so just study those pretty well and keep up with the online discussions and exams and you should do fine.
Professor Larson was a very good online teacher. He was always available to talk and was quick at responding to emails or other messages, along with giving good feedback for each and every assignment turned in. The class has a good amount of assignments but is structured extremely well with writing assignments up until the end hands-on projects.
Art 103 is the class for you if it's easy to memorize dates and pictures. There are only 2 essays, and weekly response assignments, but nothing horrible. I noticed he never checked for attendance, so I didn't go a couple of times to study for some other classes. There are also 3 test, but I would form a group and take the online test together.
For this class we had to write 12! 3-pages HW, take 3 exams ( 50 questions for 65 min), and participate in 12 discussions. Definitely not an easy A, but the professor gives very good notes and web sources, so I hardly ever used the textbook. Though, some details from the book and from the websites appear in the exams. I had learned a lot.
I love this professor!
There were many assignments and discussions/projects to complete. Make sure to do them all and you will get an A.
his lectures are extremely boring and he is always off-topic on lectures which makes us get behind track! his lectures are not helpful at all for the exams. since now we are online we don't have any lectures just notes and slides. how are we even suppose to pass the class without lectures? his slide test use to easy now we have "similar" images
OK! I took Larson as an online class, heard it was an easy A and it really is. He gives good feedback whether you are into art or not. you have a weekly discussion which has to be 400-500 words which may be difficult to some but it really is so easy. All his online exams are easy. and honestly i would not buy the book, we never used, save ur $$.
I enjoyed this class because you can tell that Professor Larson is passionate about what he is teaching. I'm not 100% sure if this class is offered in person, but prepare to do a lot of reading if you're in the online class. As long as you're on top of due dates and show genuine interest and effort in your work, you'll get a good grade!
Thomas Larson is an easy A. As long as you do all the work, you will get an A. It is a pretty fun class to. As long as you do the weekly discussions and end of semester projects, he gives you 100%. Exams are easy as long as you read the textbook. Super easy A
Easy intro art class! Since it was online I didn't have much interaction with the professor but he was always easy to reach and responsive when I did!
A cool class in general you will learn a lot if you want to. I would recommend making sure you study for the slide show test otherwise you won't do well. The lectures are interesting, and overall the class is pretty easy to do well in.
